Champion (15/19): Spiraling Down Thy Majesty
cham·pi·on — /ˈCHampēən/
(n) - a person who fights or argues for a cause or on behalf of someone else
(v) - support the cause of; defend — "I don't want these powers. They're too much."
Reigen said he would bear any burden too big for Mob.
Kageyama Ritsu, in Reigen's humble opinion, was a snotty little shit and a rude child. He was bitter and spiteful for his age and he weaponized his intelligence. But the one thing Ritsu was not, was afraid of his brother.
The moment Ritsu pushed Mob away, it was apparent that something was terribly wrong. The way he stood, the way he was looking at everyone, all of it was off by just a little bit, but that little bit was enough to make everyone on edge.
Behind Ritsu were the upper echelon of the Third Division - the remaining Scars. One of them—probably the leader, judging by how they were sitting and how the other two listened to their commands—smiled. It was an insincere and sickening smile. "See?" They waved a hand at Ritsu. "He doesn't want to go. He likes it here. He's afraid of you, Shigeo."
Reigen bit back on a response, focusing more on trying to reign in his emotions so he didn't hurt anybody. He didn't want to hurt them. He didn't want to lose control again.
"It's like he said, Ebiwara," one of the Scars behind their leader, a smiling woman with dimple-like scars on her cheeks, nodded at Ritsu, "The boy is dangerous."
"Tsūren's right, but we could fix that," the other Scar said. This one was a short, broad-shouldered woman with large glasses that obscured her eyes. Her scar was across her throat, which probably explained why her voice was so hoarse and soft. "All he has to do is want to change, like Ritsu did."
"So true, Kosa," Ebiwara sighed through grinning teeth, "but he has to want to change and I doubt a monster like that could ever want for anything."
Did they not know that Mob was powerless? Did they think he was dangerous? He was a child. Ritsu was a child. Why were they doing this to children? Did they have no shame? No morals?
Of course they didn't. They were Claw.
Reigen caught the way that Teruki was wincing in his peripheral vision and breathed slowly, trying to reign in his emotions so that they wouldn't impede their rescue mission. He couldn't afford to hurt the one other person here who would be remotely helpful—not counting Dimple, as weird as that felt to do. They needed as many able bodies as they could. Hopefully, after they dealt with the other two Scars, the Seventh could come and help, but until then, it was just the two of them.
