I can’t relate to their obsession with the weather, but if that gives them a sense of connection to each other then it’s fine.

Regarding their parents, I currently know the older one’s mom and dad can also surf the internet, and talk about about their CP and their impression of WYB is good. WYB has been craving for "cai cai rice" recently, XZ told him many times that spring is not so good to have wild vegetables, even if they are cooked. WYB said he doesn’t care about wild vegetables he just wants to eat the vegetable rice cooked by XZ, but I don’t have that. It smells good, I just want to eat it.

In the end, he still didn’t get the cabbage meal, but freshly baked dumplings. WYB got a bargain and acted nice, he was acting coquettishly while eating.

"The added pressure of competition and group classes.

Often, we see handlers who are excellent at reading their dogs; they are attuned to the subtle signs that indicate their dog is struggling, and they readily accept a NO (“opt out”) response from their dog in training. Then, in a competition setting (or group class / seminar / etc.) these same individuals start ignoring their dogs “opt out” behaviors (behaviors that in another setting would have triggered the handler to reduce the pressure on their dog, help their dog to lower arousal and re-focus, and/or end the session), but instead of undertaking their usual response, the handler pushes on in this setting in an attempt to get the required behavior from their dog anyway.

This can occur for a range of reasons. Some of the most common reasons include:

The handler is feeling pressure due to time constraints.

There may be desperation associated with the desire to get that last piece for a qualifier, title, or place.

The handler may be embarrassed in front of the class, instructor, judge, spectators, etc.

The handler may be feeling pressured due to other people’s views about the best way to handle the issue.

The handler may simply be so highly aroused / stressed themselves, that they are not thinking clearly enough to process what their dog is saying and/or be able to respond accurately themselves.

Ignoring our dog’s communication in these settings can create negative feelings that our dog may then link to elements of that environment; it can also reduce our dog’s feelings of agency (perceived control), and negatively impact our relationship. Okay so once more, I ask of assistance. Not like… required but I’m not gonna lie, this could improve my life to such a significant degree that I’m asking anyways.

So. I have a lot of disabilities that make it hard to get around, but what I’m asking for is help with getting a bike… not really, I need a trike… I know that’s to embarrassing to say as an adult but with my instability I don’t have the ability to keep upright on a bike. I need a trike.

I live in a VERY bike friendly town. It’s small (tho I’m still limited to very small parts of the town because I can only walk for so long and in this heat that’s a very short amount of time) and we actually have dedicated bike lanes here. We even have started construction on multiple bike lanes with center dividers to keep cars out of them, that’s how much this town is friendly to bikes.

And frankly the price isn’t that high either. Like 280$ or so, and I can order one on Amazon (no I cannot buy a trike in this town) and they have them with the giant baskets in the back for groceries and I can get a personal shopping basket for the front of the cart and that would bet. Awesome.

So. Ultimately, I would like a better quality of life and being restricted to a very small part of town because of mobility is kind of sad… I will accept any help you guys wanna give and drop into my PayPal in the bio.

It’s technically the 25th now but, as it was the fifth anniversary of Promare yesterday, I decided last minute that I wanted to write a bit about what this ridiculous movie means to me.

I have rarely experienced anything quite like the sheer joy and excitement I felt watching Promare. I remember pausing and being so glad that I had over an hour of the movie left because I never wanted it to end. My thoughts were something along the lines of “this is so ridiculous and I am having the time of my goddamn life.” In the following 24 hours, pretty much all I did was listen to Inferno on repeat as my mind felt like it was physically buzzing with energy.

I know there are plenty of valid criticisms of the movie, but if I’m being completely honest with myself, it’s my favorite anime film and there’s nothing else that really comes close. This is going to be cheesy af so I apologize in advance, but I really do think it changed my life. It made me happier, more hopeful about the world, and just a little less afraid of proudly being my weird, autistic, queer self. After all, being over-the-top and loud and passionate and fun and colorful and nonsensical and optimistic and unapologetic about it all was what made Promare resonate with me in the first place. I have a lot more that I could say (because I am nothing if not great at overthinking the things I care about), about fire and the environment and antifascism and queerness and the importance of being kind and listening and learning and reevaluating your worldview. But I don’t have the time or energy right now. I’ll just say that this movie will always have a special place in my heart.

Anyways, queer love can defy all logic and save the world. Or something like that.

thinking about scully sitting on the floor of mulder’s apartment just holding him as he wept after his mother’s death and after she told him through tears that it’s time to stop. it’s time to stop looking for his sister.

and how she had already told him that once, seven years earlier, a month into their partnership, when she chased him out of a police station and told him to stop running after his sister because it won’t bring her back.

she called after him to just stop, because she’s the scientist, and that’s the logical conclusion that she had reached.

except later that night, he told her why he does it. that he’s been closing his eyes and walking into that room, thinking maybe, when he opens them, his sister will be there, since he was 12 years old. “every day” of his life.

and she never told him to stop again.

until seven years later, when she rocked him on the floor, and then the next day was asked “why do you want to bring all this back up now?” and answered, “someone owes it to mulder.”

so she started looking. she reopened files, she tracked down records, she went to his mother’s house to dig through the trash. she confronted CSM about what he knew, she flew to california, she held hands and prayed.

she looked at mulder and said “it hurts me to tell you this” and stayed steady in the truth anyway. she listened to him read to her about a 14-year-old girl’s pain, held his hand and told him to get some sleep. she stayed up, kept looking, and found it. “i got it, mulder. i couldn’t believe it when i saw it. it was like it was looking for me.”

the police report from when samantha ran away.

she read the hospital records, went to the home of the nurse who signed the intake report, asked him if he wanted her to go herself.

she left him by the car and walked up and knocked, asked about a patient in 1979. she listened as the nurse described how “you couldn’t forget her or how frightened she was. scared for her sweet life.” and the man who came for her, who wouldn’t put out his cigarette.

earlier the day before, she had been told to just stop. “word of advice, me to you: let it be. you know, there’s some wounds that are just too painful ever to be reopened.”

and she had responded, “this particular wound has never healed. and mulder deserves closure.”

after seven years, she knows now, that you can’t just stop chasing. she knows how heavy grief is, and she‘s seen the effects of carrying it alone. of walking into the worst night of your life every day, eyes closed, hopeful.

you can’t just stop, and you can’t really have closure, but you can help someone carry it.

and ultimately, that’s what made this the end of the road. sometimes the heaviest burden of grief is feeling that pain is all there is left of someone, and that alleviating it would be to abandon them.

scully’s right, this wound has never closed, but there’s freedom in shared remembrance and shared dedication. she doesn’t ask him to stop until he’s ready to know the truth, and she’s willing to find it. she doesn’t ask him to rest until it’s safe for him to, because it’s not forgetting samantha. she knows and she remembers.

so. successfully defended my master's. I have some a bunch of revisions to do for my written thesis before I officially have a master's, but I'm very nearly done with it.

I'll be doing research over the summer, but it's not nearly as fast-paced as normal semesters are, and this was a semester in turbo mode. And boy I certainly felt it. I should have a week or so before this semester is officially over, then I'll be able to finish up my thesis and have more time/energy for writing.

I know I've said that updates would be slower than normal this academic year (this semester, especially) and y'all have been very patient with me, so thanks so much. I've still got another draft/revisions to go, but I'm hoping I'll be able to get back to normal Hannah writing mode because I miss averaging 500-1000 words a day lmao
