Self Shipping Ask Game

I’m feeling self-indulgent as all hell so I did another one, with Patrick Verona this time!! 💙 I’m starting to lose track of my F/Os...

Date you got together? April 24th 2020. We are... a very new couple and we’re still finding our way with what we have together. It feels like stepping into shoes you’ve worn a thousand times before, but the soles are different; there’s new marks left behind and we’re finding out what they mean slowly but surely. We have lots of love between us and we’re letting it guide us.

Favorite personality trait? I love Pat for all that he is, but if I have to pick just one thing then it’s his nature. He feels like... you know when you lay down outside on the grass or the beach and there’s a gentle breeze in your hair and the sun is warm on your face and your eyes are shut and you feel yourself smiling because this is why you’re alive, for moments like this? That’s how Pat feels to me, all the time. 

Favorite physical trait? His smile. I almost said his eyes but, oh... that smile makes flowers bloom in my heart. I would die to keep that smile on his face. He’s so beautiful and those dimples and his eyes, I... he’s so beautiful. 🥺 

Couple song We don’t have one yet. I’m still looking for the perfect one. I often listen to I want you to want me from the soundtrack when I want to feel him close by, just because it makes me think of him, so maybe that one? 

Pet peeves... He likes to leave his switchblade open and lying in random places and it freaks me out. I don’t even like kitchen knives near me and there he is, leaving it stabbed into the coffee table pinning a note for me to the surface. Sure, it’s convenient to just grab his knife out of his pocket and it’s a good way to get my attention, the silver glinting of the blade in the light of the room, but still.

Favorite outfit on them? As much as I adore those leather trousers, it has to be the dark grey shirt with the chain poking out... just him putting it on in the morning and the cold metal against his skin contrasted with the heat on my tongue... *ahem*

Favorite meal? Pat and I eat separately; I have coeliacs disease and Pat’s lucky enough to not have any food allergies so I always make us separate meals. I make his first, scrub down the kitchen and then I do my own food. Pat likes the tuna pasta bake I make; the golden crust of cheese on the top is his favourite and I always give him the corner bits; he likes the cronch. He always says I can just make one meal which is gluten free but I don’t feel right doing that to someone who doesn’t share my dietary requirements.

Early bird or night owl? Pat’s definitely a night owl, so long late night conversations where the two of us lay down in bed together are very common. I stay up every night for him to come home from the pub and then he showers (no dirty sweaty bodies in my bed, thank you) and we cuddle up in bed and just... talk. Sometimes we just lay there listening to music. Neither of us especially like mornings and it’s not unusual to wake up at noon or afterwards 😂

Snorer or sleep talker? Pat snores very lightly most of the time but when he’s deeply, deeply asleep, he sounds like a chainsaw lmao. I like that, though, because even though it makes the bed shake a bit, I know that he’s there with me and it eases my fears of the dark. I have my nightlights but I don’t need music because I know he’s there for me and he’ll keep me safe. Sometimes he’ll mutter unintelligibly as he rolls over and it’s always right in my ear and I have to try not to jump 😂

Do you have any pets together? Not yet! 💕 I wanna get some cats with him in the future; they’re such precious creatures. Pat wants a dog but between him and a dog I’d never get any free or alone time 😂 and I’m protective of both of those things.

Pet names! (Both from them and yours for them) I call him Pat mostly, but other times it’s “sunshine”, “baby boy” for when he needs comforting, “angel”, “darling”, “love” and he knows I’m angry/mad if I call him Patrick ksksksk it gets his attention so quickly. 

Pat calls me “sweetheart”, “angel”, “love” (saved for when he’s being sarcastic, it’s like a hint I need to Do Something Soon) “honey”, “girlie” and by my name when he thinks he has to.

How often do you fight? Not... very often. We have playful banter more than anything. We do fight, that’s normal and healthy, but we try to talk things out calmly rather than go at it and risk saying something we can’t take back. Words have greater power than people know, and where the sword cuts and forgets does the tree fall and remember.

What starts fights? For me, Pat gets angry at my blatant lack of self-care and it angers him to see me treat myself as I do (or don’t, more accurately) but to shower others in love. He doesn’t understand why and it frustrates him. I struggle to explain myself properly so then I get frustrated and it can lead into a whole thing lmao the tears start when he raises his voice so he usually calms down pretty quickly. And as I said, we prefer to speak it through calmly so we’ll go calm down separately and meet in the middle later on. He knows he’s forgiven when I throw myself at him and smother him in kisses.

For Pat, I don’t get angry very often or very easily but when I do, it’s because he was out for so long that I started thinking he’d died or was injured or something and he didn’t text me to let me know and though I don’t want to control him I also don’t enjoy staying up worrying he’s dying in an alley somewhere. So when he gets home I’m a bit... colder in how I greet him and then Pat gets defensive and eesh 😬 In the end, he’ll sigh and I’ll apologise and he’ll get irritated and we cuddle and talk it out. I’ll know I’m forgiven when he kisses my forehead.

Who apologizes first? Me. I will always apologise first, even if I was right. I cannot handle any kind of conflict or confrontation and due to things which have occured in the past I will always just... take it. I’ll just apologise, and get it over with, and hope it all smooths over quickly. Pat gently tells me off when I do this, “No, Erika. I’m the one apologising, not you.” and I usually get upset so we have some cuddle therapy - our touches speak louder and more concisely than we ever could. 

Big spoon or little spoon? asdfghjkl; we switch depending on who needs or wants what! Whomever needs comforting, the other is the big spoon and on the times we both need comforting or we just can’t decide who is either spoon, we lay facing each other so that we’re both the little and the big spoon at the same time! Problem solved! <3 

Dom or sub? Pat’s a switch; it depends on what either of us needs the most in any given moment. For the most part he’s dominant; I can be really shy sometimes and I have no idea what I’m doing with anything, so he tends to take the lead... before we realise that we’d rather walk into undiscovered territory together, hand in hand the way it should be.

What are their kisses like? They’re somehow comforting but intense. He kisses me so tenderly it can make me cry but it’s so passionate that it leaves me breathless. He commands my lips against his and he both takes and gives in equal measure. Pat is a passionate, compassionate soul and it comes through every time he kisses me; like he, too, is coming home.  He never kisses just once - just one sentence can hold a multitude of kisses. And the ghost of his lips against my skin lingers for hours after he’s gone home. He’s always with me, in one or another.

What do they smell like? Apples, leather, whiskey, stale cigarette smoke... and something spicy but so Patrick. If I concentrate, I can find it when I nuzzle into his neck.

What are their hugs like? Coming home. He always hugs me so tightly that I can feel those lost parts of me click back into place. I’m a known squeezer and he playfully grunts in my ear and it makes me smile and he squeezes back and it makes me giggle. Pat sighs happily and drops his head down into the crook of my neck and he rocks me from side to side... I’ve been known to fall asleep standing up in the safety of his embrace. He’s my home, nothing and no one make me feel as safe as he does. 

Who is more protective? I think we’re both as protective as each other. I have a mean streak when my loved ones are threatened or in any kind of danger and I���m not afraid to stand up for Pat against rumours, even if he’s not with me at the time. I hate confrontation but for my loved ones, I’d walk straight through fire if I had to. Similarly, Pat gets easily defensive and seems to have a bit of a temper as well so if anything happened to me, he’d get protective. I also... feel like we protect each other from our own selves, sometimes. I have some Bad Habits and so does Pat and neither of us are afraid to tell the other when we’re hurting ourselves and need to stop... like right now, it’s way past midnight and I’m yawning every few minutes but I’m pushing through to write this. Pat’s frowning and wanting to take my laptop away.

Interested in children? Pat might be... when he’s older. But he knows my stance on this topic and we never talk about it. 

Who needs the most TLC when sick? Pat. OMG he tries to work through it, to walk it off, but I can see. I do the same thing, I always pretend I’m not sick until it’s so obvious that I just can’t hide it. Pat’s a natural caregiver, he’s so used to taking care of others and that’s exactly why I deliberately go overboard when I take care of him. I buy every kind of medicine specific to his illness (and I dip into my savings but shush, don’t tell!), and I make him soup and I’m there for him and I make it known that I love him. I’m usually squeamish with sickness, even when it’s my own, but for Pat I push through and I try because he deserves nothing less than the best of everything I can give him.

Who says ‘I love you’ first? Mmm.... I think Pat said it first. He has more confidence in what we share together than I do and one day when I came through with his favourite meal and I had my own one, I sat down and he said, “I love you, d’you know that?” I just blinked at him a few times in shock and he said it again... and again... and again until I just had to put my food down so that I could grab that beautiful face and swallow his next words; he is... ethereal and I’ll never understand why he loves me but I’m so, so glad that he does! I said it back, of course I did, and his smile was brighter than the sun.

Which of you is more accident prone? Meeeee ~ omg lmao I always have bruises I don’t even remember getting. Pat gets frowny because I sit there poking them hoping the slight pain will trigger a memory of how I got the bruise, but I rarely remember. I’m forever bouncing off door frames, walking into tables, tripping over my own feet while I’m stood still... Pat finds it funny and sometimes when I actually trip he’ll say something like, “I know you fell for me, but, ah - did you have to show me, too?” or “How’s the world from down there?” and once... once, he laughed and laid down next to me on the floor and we just stared up at the ceiling and we just... were for a time. It’s a memory I cherish.

Bed hog? OMG me, hands down. Pat tends to lay on his back and I put my head on his chest so that I can listen to his heartbeat or I nuzzle into the crook of his neck, but it’s not unusual for me to wake up with my duvet on the floor and the sheets all over the place. I’ve been known to actually kick in my sleep and sometimes I wake up with bruises I don’t recall getting. Pat wraps himself around me like a koala when I move around too much because a) shitty mattress and b) I drink 18 coffees a day and in this way, I’m able to fall asleep quicker and in a more relaxed way. If I fall asleep relaxed, I move around far less when I’m asleep. I don’t know how Pat figured that out and he won’t tell me, either.

Who loves the other the most? We’re a very new couple and we’re finding our way with each other and our relationship, but I do think that I love Pat a little bit more than he loves me. But that’s okay; statistically, one is always loved a bit more than the other. I have trouble believing we’re even compatible because ??? look at him ??? and then look at me ??? and it drives Pat insane.

5 Positive Things:

I switched my major from Biology to Economics in my fourth year of college, BUT it is worth so much more to me now. I was unhappy with Bio and only took it for salary reasons for the future. Was really good at it in high school, but we all think that. Economics is so much more interesting to me and the As I get make me know I made the right choice. I never regretted my decision once I filled the paper work out.

I have gone 1 year and 3 months going with my natural hair texture! I’ve straightened it 3 times in that period, but I want to get that to 0. My hair has gotten its glossy black color back and the curls are bouncy and voluminous and thick and full!

Along with my hair, I have not plucked one hair of my eyebrows in exactly 1 year, besides the middle. They used to be very thick and had a nice arch to them, but after years of plucking to get them thin and just tearing away that the arch, they’ve suffered a lot of damage. I have been using Jamaican Black Castor Oil and I’ve seen some major improvement. Though my eyebrows are still very dark and full, they’ll probably never be the way they were before, but I am happy that I am through with damaging them.

My little brother is back from college visiting for Winter break!!! We don’t see each other much, but we have been having so much fun. The other day we saw Pirates Voyage with our mom, and it was amazing!

My mom’s cat had kittens 8 months ago and they’re adorable. One of them, whose name is Tuxedo, had not taken a liking to me for a while. He runs to my mom all the time and wants to be held by her, but he’s been afraid of anyone else. Yesterday he went up to me for the first time and it was so adorable! We played and he let me hold him. He’s such a cute kitty.

This is a sixth one because I just thought about it, but I’ve written my first EdWin fics last month and I was unsure of how it’d go, but people loved them! Two were just one shots, but a I got a lot of comments telling me how well I kept them, especially Ed, in character and how unique the ideas were and have even had people say what kind of stories they’d want to see from me in their messages. I thought that people would think my ideas for plots would be weird, but I felt so good when they said it got them thinking more about EdWin’s relationship and how it made them love the ship again❤️

It’s that time again! I’ve had a lot of free time to read this month, so I think this is gonna be a good one. Here are my favourites!

Summary: They stand around talking for a minute and then Jonathan starts to ramble, “Has there ever been, like, an unrequited gay love story in here? Like a Brokeback Mountain moment where, like, someone just fell in love and they didn’t mean to?”

Louis feels bile rise in his throat as Jonathan’s eyes sparkle, pleading for a yes. He manages to look around and see thoughtful looks on his coworkers’ faces before their heads shake no.

“Not here,” Liam says finally.

When the Queer Eye cast and crew sweep into Louis’ small town and fire station to make over his best friend and coworker Liam, Louis’ carefully constructed walls start to fall down and he has to face his fears – and the only guy he’s ever been able to see a future with.

My comment: This one is making it as one of my ALL TIME favourite fics. I completely fell in love with every single character! You can clearly see how Louis gets something different from each of his relationships with the different characters and it is absolutely stunning. Louis’ internal struggle is really well written and I just wanted to give him a hug! Also, I started watching Queer Eye after reading this.

My comment: This story is probably as realistic as you can get with mermaid fic. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. It’s so beautifully written and emotional - I actually wanted to cry at some point. This fic is a gift and you should read it.

This band just happens include a cheery, fair haired Irishman who quite literally charms the pants off of Liam and, before he knows it, Liam finds himself facing a choice between love and duty.

My comment: Where do I even begin with this one? I kept getting immersed and forgetting that Liam was actually undercover but then I would remember and the ANGST! Certainly an emotional roller coaster. Stayed with me long after I finished reading it.

My comment: I absolutely love reading about post-battle Hogwarts. Everything has a different kind of feel to it. Slytherin!Louis and Huffelpuff!Niall complement each other so well and the descriptions of the spells are incredible. Loved everything about this fic!

My comment: This story was absolutely AMAZING! Reading about Zayn’s struggles was HEARTBREAKING and it made me so HAPPY and RELIEVED when he finally found his home.

My comment: I loved how the relationship progressed in this. How Niall kept wanting to hold back but kind of being unable to help himself. It was just so easy to read.

It should be, Zayn thinks.

My comment: Firefighter Liam is one of my favourite things! Zayn struggling with his anxiety over what happened seemed so real. And all the pining!! The PINING! Just read it.

The one where Louis is the star cashier, Harry is the cafe boy, Niall works in the deli, and when Liam is promoted from bagging to dairy, Zayn from produce is his replacement. Louis is not happy about that.

My comment: This was such a fun lighthearted read! And guys, the scene with the body shots...omg. LOVED these two characters together.

everyone knows being a parent is hard work

whether it be that you raise the child on your own or not

being a parent is hard 

so when Jihoon found out that he had to take care of his new born baby girl on his own

he was sure that he couldn't do it

not on his own

but he took one glance at her and he fell in love almost as immediately

just like how he fell for you..

but you weren't there

and now all he had was your baby girl

how do you expect him to decline?

he sighed

he signed all the paperwork

he was ready to take her home

but before taking her home to his

he realized his house needed a little bit of baby proofing first

so he took her to his mom's house first

so that he could baby proof his whole apartment for a week

and boy did he went all out that week

he bought a crib

that took him a whole day or two to build smh he almost gave up

he bought a bunch of outlet plug covers, diapers, bottles, milk, clothes, toys for her to play with and more baby stuff 

he added a lock for his office

and he cleaned out a room for her

which he decorated with the help of his friends

they created more of a mess tho 

he restocked his fridge because he knew he was going to be stress eating a lot

oh and just before he took her home

he cleaned his whole apartment spotless

yup

he did all of that for her

now all he gotta do is take her home

which was probably the most exciting part for him

he was playing with her a lot

if he wasn't, 

he would just watch her with so much endearment in his eyes 

like yes

this is my daughter

and he would just proceed to playing with her again

and they had a lot of fun

when she dropped her first yawn

he couldn't help but smile 

as she tries to keep her head up and eyes open

he carries her to her room so that she could rest

much to his surprise when he was trying to put her down her crib

she was holding unto him for dear life

he was tired too himself

and that is how she ended up sleeping on his chest

with one of his hand holding onto her

both in deep slumber

now being a first time father

obviously, he didn't know a lot when it comes to parenting

so he would call up his mother a lot

"Hey mom, I know it's midnight but c/n wouldn't stop crying." He told her at the end of the phone as he tried to soothe her down

"Hey mom, how many milk should I give her daily?"

"Mom. How does a freaking diaper work?"

Jihoon with his daughter would honestly just be so adorable 

he would be walking frantically around his apartment

looking for the last piece of diaper

"I just bought a new pack a few days ago. I couldn't have used it all that quickly." He mumbles under his breath

he wouldn't dare leave her out of his sight

because he knows she would throw something at something at some point

or she might hurt herself

when he bathes her

he too comes out soaking wet from all the splashing and playing they did

to which he couldn't get mad because 

one, she is his daughter

and two, she is a child

so he'd just go along with her games

when the boys are over at his place

you'll be hearing a lot of laughs coming out of her

a few cries when Mingyu carries her

and Jihoon would just be looking at her so fondly when she is smiling

clearly ignoring the boys fighting in the background

but lowkey glad that his daughter will have 12 uncles

who will protect her and possibly keep a smile on her face

now we can't talk about Jihoon and his daughter being adorable

without you seeing him and her when he is working on his music

he would have her in a her crib beside him

or sometimes when she is not that hyper, she would be sitting on his lap as he composes songs

she would look at how Jihoon taps the pencil on the table as he thinks of a beat for the song

and she would do the same 

hitting the table with her small little hands when Jihoon taps his pencil

he'll notice her doing this and would just

break into a fond smile

he'll say nothing and just kiss her head

when he is recording the bgm of the song

he'll be playing the guitar or piano or some instrument as she watches him from her crib

she'll be completely quiet watching her dad indulge into what he is passionate about

when Jihoon goes inside his recording booth

recording whatever masterpiece he has created yet again

again, she'll be watching him so intensely

and if the song is mellow and soft

she would slowly drift to sleep at the sound of his voice

and when Jihoon is done recording

ands she is still up

he would sit her back on his lap

and play the piano or guitar for her

she'll try to press the keys or pull the strings every now and then

to which Jihoon doesn't mind at all

he just continues on playing for her

until she'll eventually stop because she has fallen asleep on him

times where she wouldn't fall asleep

or times where she'll start crying in the middle of the night and wouldn't stop

he'll bring her to his office

obviously tired too

he sits down in front of the piano

he'll play and sing her a song

and she'll be quiet in minutes

give her a few more minutes and boom

she's fast asleep

Jihoon would be too scared to wake her up if he stands up

so they would just fall asleep on his chair

with her on his arms

it's honestly the cutest thing you'll ever see, believe me

he'll admit from time to time that doing everything on his own is hard

but he was content with it

really, he was

people who are parents could hardly believe it

since they cant imagine raising a child on their own

but he honestly couldn't ask for more

he has his music

he has his friends

he has her

and knows that you're hella proud at him for deciding on raising her on his own

so what more could he ask?

yes, sometimes he doesn't get to work on his music just like he used to

but honestly so what?

he gets to spend time with his daughter and make a lot of memories with her more

and he made sure she is his first priority from now on

James would be the popular loner jock who participates in every sport that his older metalhead-jock-nerd brother didn’t so he isn’t constantly having to prove himself. He’s definitely a part of the in-crowd, but it’s more like they absorbed him and he’s on the fringes. Ali is the friendly garage band girl who dyes her hair more than she should, eats from the vending machines, and participates in the drama club. And James and Ali are best friends, always, so sometimes Ali gets dragged to popular kid functions and James joins Ali in garage band showdowns.

10. Who is the more relaxed one? 

Ali. James has more energy and less chill and he’s almost always on the move. While they’re both always ready to get into trouble, Ali’s a tad less so and she tends to even James out a little.

11. Who likes to be out in nature more?

Oh gosh, James. James grew up hiking, spelunking, horseback riding, rock climbing, hunting, and kayaking and doing every other fun Arizona sport he could while Ali was a city girl. She likes nature in tiny doses, very small, while James could literally spend three weeks in the woods and never come out, though he prefers the desert, honestly. Ali has learned to appreciate nature a little more than she used to, just because James is so enthusiastic about it. Also, being outdoors is relaxing for James since while there’s stimulation for his enhanced senses, it’s generally less grating and constant than people yammering all day long.

12. Who initiates cuddling sessions?

They both love some cuddles, so they’re pretty equal on this. They’re physically affectionate and take comfort in cuddling. James is more cuddly when he’s upset, and Ali is extra cuddly when she’s happy.

James literally picks Ali up, drops her gently on a blanket, rolls her up like an Ali-fruit roll-up, and holds her until she breaks a smile. This works whether she’s sad or spitting mad. James runs hot, so Ali uuuusally doesn’t smother him in blankets since that would make him a tad miserable, but she sits nearby and stays with him whenever he’s having a bad day. She runs her fingers through his hair until the tension melts out of him. They both like playing with each other’s hair, actually.
