And Din, who had never beheld one of the fair folk, stared as the elf descended from the tree with an easy grace. The ghouls trapped in the blade at his side whispered all manner of dark things, but for once, he barely heard them. He was too enthralled with this vision, this child’s story come to life.

HA! I knew champion would make an appearance in the chaos by crashing thru a window on his bike! How many more times is that poor sweet creature gonna be thrown thru glass in this story tho that's the real question
Love when the readers point out reoccurring themes.

I need Xaden to beg her to stay with him while she's telling him that she can't (because there will be war) but he still beg her and tell her that his priority is her AND Violet still does not believe it.
The angst of him being so frustrated that she will ALWAYS doubt his feelings because of his own actions.
I’ve got plans for Xaden Riorson don’t you worry

Where's Your Heart That Beats for Me?
[Image ID: A young Bakura stands in the center of a room next to a corpse, the two of them surrounded by eerie dolls and other toys. A collapsed lamp illuminates the scene like a spotlight, casting sharp shadows across the room. Bakura stares out at the viewer, his left eye large and dull, while the right half of his face is deeply shadowed with a bright red, sinister eye. His loose, oversized shirt is splattered with blood, and he clutches a doll by the hair in his right hand. The corpse at his feet has a cleaver sticking out of its head, and is missing its right arm. Dozens of dolls are arranged in a widening circle, all facing in toward Bakura.
Incongruous with the bizarre scene, the walls of the room are painted with a cheery blue sky, grassy hills, and floating pink-yellow butterflies. Scribbled with chalk across the landscape in child-like writing are erratic, repeating phrases from the Sleepless Lullaby song. The phrases include: the word "empty" layered several times over itself like an echo; the line "whisper through the twisted corners" repeated down the wall; "eyes that glitter" surrounded by simple, glaring eyes; and "hello I walk into empty" trailing between.

Bakura: Where's Your Heart That Beats for Me?
Yugi: Single Out the Shadows
Marik: Waiting Silently for Hours
I was playing through the Nursery in SWL, and the ghost-possession experimentation made me think YGO thoughts (as I rambled about on my main blog here). And if Yugi and Ryou were part of it, you know Bakura would be responsible for the doll room...so I grabbed a screenshot, and did an edit. Figured I'd try to go for a Change of Heart sort of impression, given the harsh shading from the lamp easily enabled it, and it'd underline the experiment in duality. Also tried to get his doll to look a little like Necroface, using dark shading instead of a cracked hole. (The way he's holding it is also a nod to the scarecrows in the game, some of which use these creepy dolls as magic foci.)
For those unfamiliar, Sleepless Lullaby is the quoted song—and is the only thing that plays in the Nursery, on loop, as a way to (try to) condition and pacify the kids.
(As you can see, it did not end well for the folks running the facility.)
~
Bonus versions: glowy magic eyes for extra eeriness, and what it looks like without the screenshot (because it...actually kinda works in a grey void):

how long is too long for fiend to go without eating? like a few hours or days?
also when they start to change, is it a slow build up or does it instantly happen?
So many questions about Fiend as of late, huh? (lighthearted)
It would depend on how big their last meal was, but usually they are fine for about 12-ish hours (but they usually complain after like an hour), and then past that threshold the change beginssss
But they can stave off the changes for a bit, if they let their body begin to digest itself - which is not ideal, since they'll get smaller and smaller until they are gone, so that is a last resort type thing
As for the change itself, it also depends! If they're trying to put it off bc they do not want to change, then it'll be very slow like over the course of hours, but if they're purposely making it slow to freak someone (Bean) out, then it's a few minutes
But if they see/smell/etc a trigger (say blood for example), or allow it to happen, then it'll be instant, like thirty seconds to a minute
At this time, they have only canonically changed twice, and the first time was purposely drawn out, and the second time was instant
