Now, I'm not entirely sure what came first, the tcw show or all of the novels expanding on Mandalorian culture, but nonetheless it annoys me so much whenever i watch tcw and they depict the Mandalorian people, one of the most diverse cultures in starwars, all with blue eyes and blonde hair. Mandalorian is a culture, a religion, not a race. A creed anyone of any species or origin can join.

The Mandalorians were so prolific in adoption into their creed, that it lives on despite their ancestors -the Taung- having died out. All you even have to do in Mandalorian culture to adopt someone is speak a vow, (The gai bal manda) which is recognised by Mandalorian law. (and I'm distraught that in the Mandalorian show we didn't get to see Din speak this vow to Grogu, but I digress.)

The show also presents Sundari, Mandalore's capital at the time, as so... clinical and bare? Yes the new pacifist Mandalorians have foregone the war worshipping ways that founded their culture, but the worship of war also bred a celebration of life and relishing each moment and day you get -Shereshoy being the term for it. From a culture like this I'd expect a little more... soul to their home.

They dress everyone in such plain (lack of) colours too!! When the pacifist Mandalorians discarded their armour, did they discard the cultural meanings or importance of colour too? (And I'd love to see New Mandalorians treating their clothing with as much respect and reverence as they traditionally did armour, following the Resol'nare's tenet of Beskar'gam in their own, new way. I have so many thoughts on how the Resol'nare can apply to a peaceful lifestyle, but ultimately I know that's far too much detail for tcw to have delved into, and I'm sure i wouldn't be the first to talk about it, if only there was a show solely about Mandalorians that could explore their culture in such depth-)

Ever since I had a hyperfix on Mandalorian culture a year or two ago I haven't been able to consume Mandalorian related content the same way, and I am trying to resurrect the intense interest because it ended before I was able to learn Mando'a, and by goodness I think it might be working.

it really sucks when the creator(s) of something you really like clearly have some unchecked biases that leak into their work, cuz you know they’d probably try and correct their behavior if they had it pointed out to them, but they’re just so oblivious that some little comments drop here and there that just brilliantly showcase how entrenched they are in their sphere of privilege to recognize it

#This is about Anthony burch saying some lowkey sexist things in dungeons and daddies every now and then #It’s gotten to the point that I’d literally rather there be fewer female characters in the story just so I don’t have to hear him #absolutely butcher a female character #All the dungeons and daddies crew are just so incredibly cisgender and it SHOWS.#But him especially for some reason? Like he’s got a lot of gender dimorphism I don’t think he realizes #Or maybe he does realize it—i don’t know him!#But either way sometimes he’ll make the female NPC’s act certain ways and it’s just. Fucking weird?#He’s not transphobic and he’s not outright misogynistic #But there are just some comments every now and then that give me the feeling he thinks of men and women as very separate #Tho probably not intentionally or anything. Just fucking sucks dude.#Like—when I think about men his age my first thought is the mcelroys. And in their dnd podcasts they don’t ever say some of this shit lmfao #So like I know it’s not just in my head #AND i know not all cis men are like this. He can and should be doing better #So it makes it hard to listen to certain episodes.#He’ll recognize and joke about certain narrative things like ‘oh no I just had a woman literally do all the work for you. What have I done’#But he doesn’t seem so good at playing female NPC’s like fucking normal people.#Like in the episode I just listened to he’s having a female NPC have a crush on one of the main characters #And that’s not in and of itself bad!#But he describes it as: ‘she does this thing that Ive seen girls do when they like someone where their mouth drops open a little bit and #they seem shocked for a second but then—‘ and I had to pump the brakes on that one!!! Like—how did this like make it into the episode??#How did this go thru like 2 layers of editing and everyone was like ‘yes :))). This is a normal way to describe this.’#Like. He’s not some fuckin incel who doesn’t interact with women! He’s fucking MARRIED and his partner is non-binary and he #is friends with women!!! AND one of the lead editors is a trans woman so I’m just. Completely flabbergasted.#To her credit I think Beth said something like ‘um okay? Bro I make faces like that at like EVERYONE’ but then a bunch of the other #hosts joined in and jokingly said ‘oooooooooooh~~’ like preschoolers saying ‘you’ve gotta crush!’ or some shit #And idk. Sometimes this stuff just feels fuckin WEIRD DAWG.#This is not to dissuade anyone from listening to the show; I just think there’s some annoying shit sometimes.#dungeons and dads #I just used that tag bc thats how I organize my blog; so if this ends up in the main tags please dont yell at me over a personal vent post #i just wanted to scream into the void and see if I’m not alone in this. I’ve run a few that drop hints about my final plans #and honestly you could try having another player DM in the same setting depending on the situation #idk. I’ve never really done THAT before bc it’s hard to do that but like #we do it in the campaign where we swap out the DM role. anyways #dnd

i went to a DND session at my friend's house today it was so fun!!

#we all brought snacksss and all threee of us got lost on the way to our host's house lol #anfff we played. dnd :)#our fucking sessions are so chaotic because the DM will say one thing and we spend 10 minutes going off on random unrelated tangents #so we never get anything done #also our DM is so awesome i love her this is her first time ever dming and she used that dragon island thing but she diverged from the #story really quickly and the lore!!!! holy shit dude the things she puts us in is so cool #she's put so much thought into the session i love her so much she's so cool #anddd we played for like four hours and we ate biscuits and candy and drank 7up and tea #and my other friend talked about rugby to me which tbh is kind of charming when you get used to it #he is overbearing but you get used to it he's cool also ill never tell him but i actually really like his character even tho i tease him ab #and my other other friend talked about how she got all her jewellery i loveee her style she is so awesome #andd she let me sit on the floor behind her counter when i got tired and made us tea and im a little bit in love with her #and her sister watched the session and she was cool!! i like her she was really nice and i hope i get to see her more soon cuzi like her #mmmm mthis session was so fun. like gamewise aswell we're getting into the good shit it was so cool #the metaphors. grips you #yayyayayay :))))#iii love my friends so much #ALAO my friend drew a silly cat on my hand!!! she is so expert at drawing silly cats. she's so good at it #she is just silly!!! i love her!!!!#peests

i have been running all day long

#wind howls #woke up at 8:30 went to school at 10 until 7 pm got home at 8:30 played dnd worked on my miniature until 6 am and im #in bed now. my wrists in both hands are acting up really bad and im not sure i enjoy that. actually im pretty certain i dont enjoy that #im so tired. but im not done. my editing final is. mostly completed. i will just add more special effects on monday for a little pizzazz #however you spell that word.#i need to have my miniature almost completely finished. i need to buy the uhhh. plaster putty thing. for the walls. bricks #add the dirt. maybe find a miniature car so i dont have to mess up a really cute sleigh decoration for the sake of graded art.#add the fence.... and the trees. and the roof. paint the whole thang #at least the roof is just like. fake tiles. i can cut many of them at once and they wont take long to cut #aluminium foil for mounts. cover with papier mache. then dirt. maybe i shouldve done that before the fake grass. oh well !#what else. FUCK I HAVE TO MAKE A WHOLE ASS MOODBOARD. I HATE MOODBOARDS IM THROWING MYSELF OFF A CLIFF ACTUALLY #rather i hate having to Make moodboards. theyre cute and very useful and i know it but it is actual torture for me to make moodboards.#i hate them i hate them ourghg..... i have to make one i hate it....#ah shit i also have to make windows and the door for the miniature house. sigh #at least i have some foam cardboard left and now i know that itll be better to build those from that rather than sculpting w hot glue #on the bright side. hot glue scultping is wonderful for rough irregular but consistent patterns such as trees and its bark. that was fun #ive got my work cut out for me. the miniature comes first. should it come to it i can tackle the moodboard monday at the absolute LATEST #im not allowed to hand in anything late. so i have to plan out and calculate my time well. final projects need to be handed in #the teachers are kind in the regard that they encourage you to hand in something incomplete than late. late is 0. nothing is 0.#incomplete is not 0. its not Good. but its more than 0 #(not to mention a 0 on the final project is an automatic failure of the entire class even if your grade is passing without the final)#anyway. ive gone on for long enough. im tired. goodnight
