Now that it's been out for a while, here's the piece that I did for @ilikepearszine !
It was a lot of fun to imagine a heated discussion over chess, scones, and mimosas 🥐🥂

My art for @ilikepearszine
I tried using the food & Vietnamese traditional clothes as inspiration for their clothing ^^
Here are the close ups:

[Image description] Good Omens characters in clothing inspired by Vietnamese Food, accompanied by descriptions of the food.
Bánh Cuốn, known in English as Steamed Rice Rolls, is a breakfast dish originating from Northern Vietnam. The outside is made by mixing rice flour with water, and the inside is a stir-fried mixture of pork, chopped onions, jicama, mushrooms, and seasonings. It is ideally paired with herbs, bean sprouts, or fish sauce for dipping. Toppings includes slices of pork bologna and fermented pork rolls.
The middle region of Vietnam is famous for extra spicy dishes. One of the most popular ones is Bún Bò Huế (Huế's Beef Noodle), which came from Vietnam's old capital city of Huế, back in the 16th century.A typical bowl contains rice noodles, boiled beef, crab cakes, herbs, and hot broth. The broth is made by simmering marrowbone, hot pepper, shrimp paste, and lemongrass.  Before eating, shacha sauce may be added.
Nicknamed "Shrimps of the Mountains", Sâu Muồng is a specialty  that came from the E-De people living in the mountainous region of Vietnam. The dish is a simple stir-fried caterpillar or chrysalis collected from the senna siamea trees. It is said to have a slightly crunchy texture and a light, fatty taste. They believes it can aid malaria treatments. The E-De people are also famous for their unique way of drinking wine made from fermented grains: they drink from long bamboo straws, as depicted in the drawing.
If you are looking for something sweet and vegan-friendly to snack on, you can't go wrong in Southern Vietnam! If you want something soft, there are bánh bò (steamed rice cakes made from rice flour, sugar, yeast, and water) or bánh da lợn ("pig-skin cake" - not actually made with pig skin, mind you - which is made by steaming mashed yam/green beans, rice flour, sugar). If you are looking for something crunchier, there are bánh tai yến (a fried mixture of sticky-rice flour and coconut milk that looks like a mini sombrero), bánh cam (fried green bean balls with sesame), and a wide assortment of others. With the diverse cuisine of Vietnam, you're sure to find something to please your palate!

Finally sharing the fic I wrote for @ilikepearszine after technical issues (me not figuring out how to format footnotes. Yes, as part of the gomens fandom, I'm ashamed 😅).
But here it is. Also, @skreebat made a beautiful illustration for it.
I also included a recipe of one of my favorite meals ever.

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a good December! These were my contributions to the @welcomehomefanzine winter zine! I managed to do more art this time too! For my contributions I wanted to draw art on various Winter traditions from different cultures, such as also my own! If you decide to colour in any of these, please @ me!!
Also keep in mind, we are not affiliated with Clown or the team behind WH, we are just fans who love the work!!
I wrote more on all the artworks under the cut! Including the traditions they were based on!
First one was a little visual pun on the first verse of '12 Days of Christmas', Poppy is the partridge in the pear tree! Not much to say about this one, it's my only Christmas related thing! Second one was based on the Southern Welsh winter tradition of the Mari Lwyd. The Mari Lwyd is a hobby horse made from a horse's skull and is then decorated. It is puppeteered to go to the doors of various houses where its handlers will sing verses on letting it in to the home, you are supposed to sing back excuses on why you can't let it in, and if you relent, you invite the Mari Lwyd and its handlers in your home, where it will eat your food and alcohol and terrorise your children! The tradition and its true origins and meaning and even etymology is unknown, but it's thought to have ancient Pagan roots! It seems here, Eddie relented in his songs to it and regretted everything immediately after!
Third image is another Poppy centric piece because I love her. Here she is dressed up as a figure from Schnabelperchten! This is a tradition seen only in Rauris Valley in Austria and is a manifestation of Perchta, a goddess from Alpine Paganism that took the form of a old woman who'd punish misbehaving children by slitting their bellies. For Schnabelperchten, on the 5th of January, figures dressed in smocks, jackets, and a beak-like mask will visit various homes to check their upkeep and cleanliness all while emitting a soft 'ga ga ga', in more ancient versions of the legend, if you did not keep your living quarters in good enough conditions, the Schnabelperchten would slit open your belly and dump all the rubbish inside! Poppy would never do that though! No one tell her about that part!! Last but not least is one based on a tradition from my culture! Here you see the entire neighbourhood celebrating Yalda Night and spending time with one anotherThis is a Persian/Iranian festival with Zoroastrian roots held on the Winter Solstice. This day was traditionally seen as ill omened as being the darkest day of the year, the forces of Ahriman and his Deevs were most active, and so much of the day entailed family and friends getting together in good company. They would read stories and poems (especially the Shahnameh or poems by Hafez) with nuts and various fruits from previous harvests being served, watermelon and pomegranates being the most prominent! It was also encouraged to stay well up after midnight lest misfortune befall you! Due to it also being the longest night, it was also seen as the birthdate of the sun deity Mehr (or Mithra), as the subsequent days would get longer.
This was all fun to do and I hope I did all these traditons justice!! I am most likely missing out a lot on my explanations for them, so I hope I at least peaked your interest in these different Winter festivities enough to look into them on your own!

Question for the Blakes 7 fandom — there are a couple of fics that I read a very long time ago that I can no longer find anywhere. It looks like the forum they were on (Horizon) got wiped at some point and restarted, because my old link to it gives me a site that won’t give me anything further back than 2022.
One fic was about the crew of the Liberator having a chore wheel rotation. I can’t remember many specifics about the actual chores part but I do distinctly recall Blake loving sushi and having some set aside for himself that no one else was allowed to touch or something.
The other was for the 12 Days of Christmas, and each day there would be more and more of the items from the song appearing on the ship and I think they were losing their minds because it was so confusing and getting so crowded. I feel like Avon or Vila may have chased a swan. A Google search (that couldn’t give me the fic but at least knew of its existence since it was apparently in a zine) mentioned something that triggered my memory and definitely sounds right, of it starting with a pear tree appearing in Blake’s quarters.
Both of these were hysterical to me and I desperately want to find them again but they seem to have vanished from the face of the earth. If any B7 fans know where to find these I would be very appreciative if you could point me in the right direction!

Rumours
Tumblr media
JunChun - modern/entertainment industry AU
Actor and performer Yu Tangchun needs money to pay for his medical bills, and thus works himself to the ground by going on small gigs to bars and parties, while at the same time taking on small acting roles in various small-scale film productions. His health deteriorates the longer he goes on without taking any breaks, but he fears that the company that he signed his contract with will let him go if they realise that he would cost them more money with his poor health. After all, the entertainment company that he works for, Pear Garden Entertainment, is a small, and fairly unknown company, so they would not keep an actor like Yu Tangchun, who is mostly known for his good looks and voice.
One morning he gets a call from his agent. The company has successfully landed him a supporting role in a high-budget production. The up-coming and highly anticipated series is starring a few very popular A-list celebrities, so this might be Yu Tangchun and Pear Garden’s breakthrough moment. Yu Tangchun accepts the job and is temporarily transferred over to East Wind Entertainment, a multimillion entertainment industry conglomerate owned by the Zhan Group.
On his first day on-set, Yu Tangchun helps Yuan Zining get to the filming location due to a mishap with the communication between the transportation team and the company staff. They meet up with the rest of the crew together, garnering a bit of publicity once a few photos are purposely leaked to the public by production. New fans quickly discover Yu Tangchun because of his striking looks and it doesn’t take long before they start shipping him with Yuan Zining. This eventually blows up and their interactions land on the top trending list. Yuan Zining, who plays the main female lead, is already shipped with her co-star by her large fanbase, so a storm is stirred up online. Fans of both the two A-list stars start trying to bring Yu Tangchun down.
It starts with accusations of Yu Tangchun clinging onto Yuan Zining for the fame. Production fan the flames by filming more behind-the-scenes of the two together, because any publicity is good publicity for the up-coming drama. It then escalates to Yu Tangchun being talentless and unworthy of his role because he only landed it due to his face and because he sought favours with the production team. Yu Tangchun continues working hard, ignoring the talk online like his agent advised him. His deteriorating health start showing on his body and antis begin circulating rumours of substance abuse. This is where production looses their control over the flow of publicity. Then finally a few months in, everything backfires; the top rumour becomes that Yu Tangchun slept with the chairman of the Zhan Group, Zhan Tianqing.
The rumour was spread by an anti who claimed to know some of the higher-ups of East Wind. Since this was a serious act of defamation against both Yu Tangchun and East Wind, the matter was not to be taken lightly.
The scandal drew the attention of the old chairman who quickly got annoyed by the commotion it was stirring up. Zhan Tianqing ordered his nephew Zhan Junbai, the current director of East Wind, to solve everything as fast as possible as he actually had a few skeletons in the closet regarding similar matters.
(I am thinking about writing a whole fic of this, but it might take quite some time.)

My AO3 Wrapped 2022
I'm a bit late with this, but here we go.
Stories: 15 (2021: 6)
Kudos: 1,248 (2021: 1,434)
Comment Threads: 289 (2021: 115)
Bookmarks: 240 (2021: 336)
Subscriptions: 60 (2021: 33)
Word Count: 123,831 (2021: 58,673)
Hits: 7,863 (2021: 10,028)
My most used tags:
Established Relationship, Alternate Universe - Human, First Kiss, Crowley Loves Aziraphale (Good Omens), Aziraphale Loves Crowley (Good Omens), South Downs Cottage (Good Omens).
This is funny because some years ago I didn't even read Established Relationship fics, and now? My favourite tag I write, but I also read them a lot. Aziraphale and Crowley made an existing relationship interesting, when usually that trope is sprinkled with often unnecessary drama.
What did I write?
I wrote 15 stories. 12 of them were part of zines, or other fandom events, and three were "just" for me. Fics just for me
I posted two parts of Be Still my Soul trilogy. This is my big project and baby, an AU set in Finnish history and civil war. It has also it's own blog, @be-still-my-soul-fanfic where I have written thousands and thousands of words about historical extra notes. The third part will be posted this year.
My first story from the last year was also Finland-themed: Be My Forever is canon compliant story where Aziraphale and Crowley visit a special place Finland. It's soft and sweet!
These three weren't my only Finland themed stories, since also one of my Zine stories (Purple) has a reference to Finland. Oops.
Zines
Last year I set up a goal to be accepted in one zine, and I got into two! I Like Pears (@ilikepearszine) and Our Side: Queer Enough (@oursidezines). The first one was about appreciating foods, and has recipes too! My entry was Purple, and it will teach you the difference between Blueberries and Bilberries. For Queer Enough, I wrote Assumption Is The Mother Of All Fuck-ups, and it's about Anathema struggling with her invisible queerness, as she's in a straight-passing relationship. It was a very personal piece for me.
Fandom Tumps Hate auction
I wrote two fics for FTH auction last year! The prompts I got from the bidders were pretty similar, a getting together AU story in a setting I know well. Two very different stories were born!
!False (It's Funny Because I Know It's true) is an AU about a software company. This story was incredibly fun to write (and I outlined it with my husband) and based on stats it has been the most well liked of all of my stories this year. One of my best ever, actually. It's rated E.
Crazy Little Thing Called Love is an AU about LARP players, and the feelings you catch in-character. This was very ambitious topic, with all the feelings in- and out of character mixing up. I hope I could make it justice! It is very soft and sweet, and rated T.
PS. I'm on that auction again this year, offering one story!
Round Robin
I participated @do-it-with-style-events Discord Server's Round Robin event. It was a really fun exercise where groups of four people wrote four stories in sections: everyone got to start a story, and all the others took turns continuing it with 500-700 words. We weren't allowed to discuss where the story should go, so it was a surprise for all of us. We wrote three lovely stories which have now all been posted: More Than Words (E), Only Sunday Footy (E), Eros (E), Rebels (T). Thank you @elfontheshelves @dashicra and @ashfae for the lovely collaboration!
Guess The Author
I participated Soft Omens Snuggle House server's Guess The Author events four times (it happens monthly). All of my entries were about 500 words, G-rated humorous established relationship shenanigans. And yet people rarely guessed me right! These stories were Gravity (some swordplay), Staging It (planning a heist), Ghost Walk (halloween story) and Christmas Traditions (exactly what it says on the tin) .
How was the year?
I think I improved a lot during the year. If you read Be My Forever and compare it to The Crazy Thing Called Love, or !False (It's Funny Because I Know It's true), I think my English has gotten smoother and flow better.
I also wrote a lot more than I expected, and interacted with the fandom a lot. I think It was a good year. For the next one I imagine I'll finish Be Still, write something kinkier, and at least one rare pair story. And something about S2 when that arrives! And one FTH entry as well.

to you, hope of joy for while
postcanon wenzhou, T, written for siji hua zine crossposted from ao3 here 🌸
Tomorrow it would be the first day of Qingming, and they would travel up the hillside to sweep the hidden graves and clear their stones of brush. A’Xiang and her silly husband. Xiao-Chengling and his wife.
As they walked, Wen Kexing stopped to pluck a pink blossoming azalea from a flowering bush and wove it into his hair. He turned to face Zhou Zishu, batting his eyelashes furiously like the men who acted women's roles in the comic dramas that were so popular these days. "I'm as beautiful as any maiden in town—won't the dashing Lord Zhou spare me a glance?"
"Maybe if you truly were a maiden instead of playing at one, he would," said Zhou Zishu.
Pink really did suit Lao Wen; his cheeks were bright with color. Zhou Zishu plucked another blossom and tucked it behind Wen Kexing’s ear. Wen Kexing smiled coyly and hid his mouth behind his fan. "Lord Zhou is so forward with his affections. This wife wonders if he offers such treasures to every pretty thing that crosses his path."
"So Lao Wen is my wife, now? No wonder he did not seem so maidenly."
Wen Kexing lowered his fan and stepped into Zhou Zishu's space. He caught Zhou Zishu’s hand and kissed it.
“A’Xu ah," he said, voice low and sweet like the dregs of pear blossom wine under a full spring moon. "Wife or maiden or no, I'm yours for as long as you'll have me."
“Keep me company as we walk, then, and we’ll see about what happens after.”
They went along the slope for a while before sitting down in a patch of grass. Bright petals stippled the hills like an artist’s brush with pinks and whites and creams.
“The flowers bloom every year whether there’s someone to look at them or no,” said Wen Kexing, hand warm over Zhou Zishu’s in the grass. “That sort of carefree life must be nice.”
Zhou Zishu watched the clouds swirl by, following invisible drifts and eddies. “Flowers don’t bloom to be looked at; they bloom to survive.”
“And yet they’re pleasing to the eye regardless. How absurd!”
"Isn't that what you thought of me when we first met? That I was a flower that cared not for my own loveliness? Lao Wen, are you calling me absurd?"
"You are the most absurd man I know, Zhou Zishu," said Wen Kexing. “And it’s not like the flowers want to die. You wanted to. It’s not the same.”
“Isn’t it?” Zhou Zishu said. He gestured at the flowers that painted the hills around them with color. “This year’s flowers die to make room for next year’s. With spring comes new life on the burial ground of the old. Neither the flowers nor I had a choice, in the end.”
Wen Kexing hummed, closing his eyes and leaning backwards to flop against the grass. “Can’t flowers just be flowers? I don’t care much for talk of death and life these days. What’s the cycle of rebirth to us, huh? We’ll enter Yanluo’s court on our own terms.”
Zhou Zishu lay down next to him. A cuckoo called out for its mate in a nearby tree. A fat black bee carried pollen from one bloom to the next. The clouds grew darker beyond the hills, promising rain.
Living things ate and drank and grew old and died. Was that really what the two of them were? Living things?
Wen Kexing raised an arm above his head to blot out the sun. The light between his fingers caught on the angles of his face like the bottom of a river seen through clear water. Fresh. Clean. The same, year after year.
“Lao Wen ah, I don’t want to live forever,” Zhou Zishu said quietly, after a moment. “No living thing should spend so long in springtime. I’d like autumn too.”
Wen Kexing did not say anything for a long while. Zhou Zishu waited. He could feel the thrum of Wen Kexing’s heartbeat in the pad of his thumb. Blood in his body. The count of his time.
Eventually, Wen Kexing rolled over in the grass until he was lying on top of Zhou Zishu. He plucked another flower from the patch of crushed foliage left in his wake and and tucked it behind Zhou Zishu’s ear to match the one behind own. Satisfied, he smiled at him until Zhou Zishu couldn’t help but smile too.
“You want to see my hair all stringy and grey? My face so wrinkly it’d put the old man under the moon to shame? My saggy, hairy ba—”
Zhou Zishu put both hands over Wen Kexing’s mouth to shut him up. “Enough, Lao Wen.”
Wen Kexing licked his palm. Zhou Zishu cuffed him on the ear. Wen Kexing kissed the tip of his nose and Zhou Zishu wound his arms around the back of of Wen Kexing’s head to pull his face into his neck. Wen Kexing’s eyelashes tickled. His breath warmed the underside of his jaw.
“I do,” Zhou Zishu murmured into the crown of Wen Kexing’s head, curling his hands into his hair. “I do. I want to grow old with you. I want to see your face when it’s wrinkly as a prune. I want to see evidence of the life we’ve lived together worn into the lines of our bodies.”
“We have plenty of scars to show for that,” muttered Wen Kexing darkly. “I’d prefer there were less of those, actually.”
“Scars aren’t things we choose,” said Zhou Zishu.
“Some of them are,” said Wen Kexing, trailing a finger down Zhou Zishu’s chest where the Nails used to be. “A’Xu, why do you still want to die?”
“I don’t. I want to live.”
He marveled at the brightness of the sky. Wen Kexing’s hair smelled sweet and sun-warmed. So much life all around them. “We're living beings, Lao Wen. Living beings don’t survive on ice and snowmelt. Let’s eat and drink and travel until we’re two hundred years old and so rickety that little Chengling’s great-great-grandchildren will mistake us for scarecrows when we stop by the Manor.”
“They’ll wheel us out into the flower fields and we’ll scare away the pests.”
“We’ll scare away any visitors too.”
Wen Kexing’s laughter rumbled his whole body. Zhou Zishu loved him so much.
“Alright,” Wen Kexing said, muffled, into the angled flesh where the softness of Zhou Zishu’s neck met the hardness of his collarbone. “Our lives have been paused for long enough. Let’s eat food worth eating, drink wine worth drinking. Then, at the end, we’ll hold hands as we descend into the Yellow Springs.”
Zhou Zishu grasped the sides of Wen Kexing’s face with both hands and kissed him on the mouth.
“Let’s grow old together, A’Xu,” said Wen Kexing after they parted.
Zhou Zishu brushed a stray petal out of Wen Kexing’s hair. “Yes, let’s.”
