Me: yeah, I dunno. I started hormones a couple years ago and I like being on them but I still don’t really like my perception of myself or my gender and it’s really hurting me because I was hoping I’d like myself more than I do. I just don’t like either option but I don’t really like nonbinary either so I’m just really confused and unhappy with my identity :(

My therapist (who happens to be the first one I’ve had who is also trans): well, when you imagine yourself, ignoring labels and ignoring any realism, how do you picture yourself? What’s your idealized version of yourself?
