Name(s): i go by laurel on here because i used to write HP fic with the URL laurelgreengrass, but then i changed it to morallygreywaren when i joined the TRC fandom and i was too proud of that wordplay to change it again (also if my horoscope is to be trusted - it fits)

Fandom(s): right now my every waking moment is still consumed by The Old Guard, but I’ve also been part of the fandom for Good Omens (no fic written, so many read), The Raven Cycle/the Maggie Stiefvater literary universe, Harry Potter and Merlin

Most Popular Multi-Chapter (by kudos)
 this year: we that are true lovers run into strange capers. i saw @quynhtessentials‘ double reverse fake dating headcanon on here and posted the first chapter before i could come back to my senses. (what can i say, i’m a sucker for straight-baiting.)

Favorite story you’ve written so far:
 would have to be we that are true lovers as well, which was the first fic i ever felt the need to write. i had only the idea and started writing before i had even an inkling of an outline (which is not like me at all) and i loved how it all just seemed to slot together. (but that’s also the reason it’s 80k o.o)

Fic you were nervous to post: probably all of them a little, but my TRC advent calendar fic ‘Blue Christmas’ i was probably most nervous about because it was my take on “what could happen next” before the fourth book came out. (and you know what? i wasn’t that wrong about things.)

How do you choose your titles?: whichever lyric from my writing playlist is stuck in my head at time of posting. alternatively: i open “Shakespeare: Collected Works” and see what happens.

Do you outline?: I do... something like it? If I outline too much writing becomes a chore because I feel like ‘the story is already told’ (albeit badly) and if I don’t outline enough I’ll sit in front of a scene (like right now) that’s plotted like this: “joe and nile go to the store, local says something and they look at each other”

Complete: There are 17 finished works on my AO3 right now, but I’ve orphaned a few fics from when I was younger :)

In-Progress: oh boi. i’m doing a joint project for the Big Bang, which is another Modern AU that I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into, and there’s also some strange and introspective immortal family fic i’m writing that is very losely based on some Scottish myths. (my original novel is also somewhere at the point where i really should just edit it, but i’m tempted to just... start over in the new year.)

Coming soon/not yet started: my gift exchange fic! but my giftee has been pretty straightforward in what they want, so that shouldn’t be a problem at all.

Prompts?: i browse the kinkmeme sometimes, but the truth is, the short format of most prompt fills i see on here just doesn’t really agree with me; i either love a prompt and can’t possibly write anything less than 5k or it becomes three half-hearted sentences strung together that i’ll end up hating. that being said, if someone were to send me a prompt because they’d like to read what i’d do with it, i’d probably be so flattered i’d write them half a novel anyway.

Upcoming work you’re most excited about: probably our Big Bang project - i don’t want to give away too much because i haven’t cleared it with my fellow co-conspirator(s), but i think it’s going to be delicious!

BUT!! To answer your question ~~

Matt and Nicky seeing Andreil near the vending machines was incredibly fun to write and it took me a while to actually settle on whose POV I wanted to write it from. Nicky observing Andreil is always going to be a good time, because he wants them to be together and be happy as much as we do. It's also really easy because I can basically just write my unfiltered brain having fan-spasms all over the page. Ultimately I decided I really wanted to do a Matt scene tho, and voila.

Ahh, poor Matty. When he sees them macking in the snack room, the sweet boi just wants to give his bros some privacy (he also does not want to get stabbed).

I think my favorite bit though was when Andrew sees them tho XD because, for serious, can you imagine. Five foot nothing Andrew, death glaring and speed walking after them (because Andrew never runs when he doesn't have to) as these two half-drunk idiots bumble down the hallway like a B-ranked slasher flick.

Ahh, I do love them so.

Also, and Matt hypothesizes this but I'm going to confirm: Neil was not going to save them. They interrupted his Andrew Time. You do not interrupt Neil's Andrew Time. Not when he's been looking forward to it all day and Kevin is monopolizing their room and being a turd because he's anxious and when Kevin is anxious he acts like a turd.

Alright alright alright, by semi-popular demand, I decided to make the Cricket girls on this fantasy avatar maker! I was going to make the boys too, but I didn’t really like how they were turning out on this site, so maybe I’ll make them later o.o

Anyway, let’s start with our main character, Naomi:

Yep, that’s our gal. More of her head is shaved than in my mind, like maybe sliiiightly less, but this is generally her vibe :D

Alright now for Rabbit, the head of cybersecurity and Naomi’s first friend at The Garden:

This one is actually pretty spot on. Her eyes are a bit more innocent looking but this is the crazy goofball we’re dealing with.

Now for Buck, the head of this whole operation:

Yes yes I know, “wow what an emo kid” and to that I say, I know, and so does she. She’s goth and *tearing up* I love her....

And finally, Arcadia, Naomi’s little sister by six years and the uwu bean of this story who just gets caught in the crossfire:
