#i love queer community <333333
HEARTSTOPPER S2 SPOILERS BELOW
None of my friends were able to watch season 2 yet and I need to externalise my feelings somewhere so hello osemanverse tumblr

TORI TORI TORI TORI TORI TORI TORI
Naomi and felixxxx I love them so much
JAMES !!!!!!! AND ISAAC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Also did anyone else notice loveless in the background when they talk things through in the library??)
Ive recently become obsessed with Radiohead because of one of my friends so I really loved the moment with little Charlie and Tao
Just so much queer joy it was beautiful
TARA AND DARCY AND STRUGGLING BUT MANAGING TO COMMUNICATE IN THE END ALSO THE BALANCE BETWEEN CRAZY FUNNY WHIMZY AND DARCY’S FAMILY PROBLEMS I AM UNWELL ANDDDD THE I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU SCENE
Prom was so adorable aaaaaahhh

Also I am absolutely gonna listen to this season’s songs on repeat they were AMAZING and it was so satisfying to hear some that I already knew (plus seven is the only Taylor song I like so it felt extra special and I remember Alice saying in an Instagram story that that song was very Tara/Darcy bf’zodjdkksjf) AND BABY QUEEN I ALMOST FAINTED WHEN I SAW HER AT THE PROM
Also I need you all to know how much like Isaac I am about books. (Also I’m so proud of him aaaaahhh my baby)

The diner scene was so iconic
Obsessed with the Ben apology scene and Charlie’s reaction
Also is that an Imogen/Sahar thing i sense coming?? Or maybe cool female friendship development im not picky that would be awesome too (ngl though im kinda starting to ship them now)
Oh yes Imogen this season aaahh that was a rollercoaster but I’m so proud of her slay queen
Well that’s all I can think of for now :) all in all I loved this season even more than the first one even though I have no idea how that’s possible but yes I will definitely rewatch it and soon

random lil headcanon of mine/half-baked explanation of jon's emotional journey
okay so i hc jon as autistic (possibly audhd)
canonically he grew up reading a lot and was an orphan i believe?
so i feel like he was pretty secluded and solitary and also raised by his grandmother - who was more likely to be slightly conservative than not
so not a very queer-friendly environment and not likely to get a diagnosis or the resources he needs as a neurodivergent person
my guy clearly did not learn how to communicate properly or be a well-adjusted person
then he met georgie and other cool ppl at uni and made proper friends for the first time in his life!! so mecore
who helped him become more emotionally mature and emotionally intelligent
and start to discover his queerness
and he started to heal from a childhood where he had the full love of his grandmother, sure, but he still felt isolated and weird and different and constantly judged, and his only parental figure didnt really know how to relate to him or help him through life
and he just became generally more open and free in his self-expression and everything (college mechs!jon maybe? 🤭)
but then his grandmother died and he and georgie broke up
like damn
anyway then he became a lot more restrictive and self-hating and didn't really have any support circles and that cycled into the uptight, insecure, snappy man we see in s1
desperate to prove himself in his new position
still emotionally scarred from the vulnerability of his early 20s and how that had backfired
floating through life with only superficial relationships, no one truly close to him
unsure about himself and his role in the world
finding it easier to relate to people through authority and snappishness
and struggling with crushing on another guy (damn you deep-seated internalised homophobia)
AND THEN
SUPERNATURAL SHENANIGANS ABOUND (skip forward a bit)
AND MARTIN HELPS HIM OPEN UP AGAIN AND BE MORE HIMSELF <333333
um sure they cause the end of the world in the process
BUT IF THEY’D HAD MORE TIME IN THE ARCHIVES BEFORE THE EYEPOCALYPSE STUFF THEN TIM AND SASHA WOULD HAVE HELPED AS WELL AND POLYCHIVES MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED AND THE SILLY LITTLE CHARACTERS COULD BE HAPPY and gay AND-

hello my fellow followers and probably random people that see this :)
I would need some advice lmao, it’s pretty important for me. but of course, you have no obligation to give advice to me if you don’t know what to say, or how, or anything, this is mainly to see your opinion on this :D
so, my birthday is coming up (august 9 YIPPPEEEE) and I invited two of my friends, alongside my girlfriend. the thing is, my parents will be there as well, and they still don’t know that my girlfriend is, yk.. my girlfriend.
they also don’t know that I am a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, being panromantic, aegosexual and genderfluid.
I have identified as at least (because I knew I liked women but I wasn’t sure if I liked men) queer for at least 3 years now, and they have never known. there was a part of my life in which I wasn’t close to my family at all even though we lived together and I hated them with a passion at that time. and I was also scared that they would be homophobic, since they have made sorta homophobic jokes in the past. (though, they didn’t really think it through and apologized)
they are the main reasons why I still haven’t told them about my identity and sexuality, and now that I identify as panromantic, aegosexual and genderfluid, it would be even harder to explain to them what that is compared to what I identified as in the past (lesbian).
but now that I have an awesome supportive beautiful and kind (among other things <3) girlfriend, and that she is going to sleep in the same bed as me on my birthday (sleepover :D), and that it will probably get awkward if my friends have to not mention we are dating, etc. … I think I kinda have to tell them that me and her are a thing, you know?
though, telling them that I’m dating a girl, still being perceived as a girl by my parents, would result in them connecting the puzzle pretty quickly and asking me what my sexuality is. and that is the bit harder part.
I would be very open to telling them that I have a girlfriend, but my coming out being added into the mix..? it just.. I don’t know, I don’t think I’m ready yet.
but at the same time, I need and want to tell them about our relationship 😭 so this dilemma is now clouding my brain (brain which is filled with sanders sides mostly atm >:D) and I would like to know what y’all think about that!
do you think I should tell them? or not? or maybe another solution? I don’t know lmao, but any feedback would be very much appreciated <3 /p
on that note, thank you for reading through all my blabbering lmao, I love you all so much <333333 /p

10 & 22 for the pride asks! (happy pride month, btw <333333)
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH BEE! 🏳️‍🌈💖
10. Something that gives you gender euphoria (whether you're cis or trans).
Oof that's a tough one actually. I don't really think about my gender that much, never really questioned it either if I'm honest. But!! I do love being able to switch clothing styles depending on the kind of mood I'm feeling if that makes sense. Like one day I feel like wearing dresses and shiny earrings and feel like a princess and the next day you can find me in men's basketball shorts and a hoodie. Is that a gender thing? I don't even know. I just love clothes that fit the mood.
22. How do you usually celebrate Pride month?
In theory, I'd love to go out and visit Pride celebrations. We have a bunch of different Pride celebrations scattered across the country and across the year (some are in June, some are in August). But, I am an awkward introvert with no close queer friends so I don't really go to those. Mostly I think I just try and learn new things about the community, maybe watch a new documentary or movie or something. But tbh, every month is Pride month in my household because I live in my house and I'm queer so, yaaaay gay!

18 queer people in a small town being chaotic you say👀
Tell me more👀
aaaaa thank you for enabling me <333333
ok so this is the brain child of me processing a bunch of stuff from my old school while listening to queer country music and so I just took a bunch of inspiration from my own experiences and people that I knew and made it gayer and more dramatic 👁
so it’s set in this small town in the southern united states in a super conservative town and I have the main characters set up into 3-4 groups based on age (I have so many I might turn it into several short stories focusing on a few characters each? idk yet) and all of them went to the religious school in town and the ages of the characters range from like 15-21 I think??
i’m probably only going to go through the oldest ones since this is super long ajdkdlsksk so the first group is the ones who are like 21 ish and its laynie, caroline, owen, anika, thea, and charity.
laynie and caroline were best friends as kids and had a huge falling out in middle school because laynies mom was super controlling and mean and they spent high school hating each other. they went to separate colleges but over the summer when they are home they end up together at a party and just talk the whole time and become friends again. owen had a bunch of mental health issues during high school and moved out at 17 to new york. he found an amazing group of friends and became a drag queen. the thee of them end up in a poly relationship together after laynie and caroline stay with owen for a little bit while laynies aunt who she was super close with was in the hospital.
anika and thea have an enemies to lovers thing going. thea is charity’s best friend and they were like the super good religious girls in school whereas anika is this amazing soft butch artist saving up to go to art school. they hated each other in school but then got together after the graduated since neither of them went to college right away but they kept it a secret because ya know being in a sapphic relationship in a small town is not where it’s at😐 they end breaking up and staying good friends when anika leaves for art school but it’s super happy because they both figure out where they need to be in life and right now it’s not together, right person wrong time sort of deal.
as for charity, she is the classic ‘dated the same guy through all high school married right after graduation and then stays as a stay at home mom for the rest of her life’. she has crazy religious parents and never really had any other options she’s the third of ten kids and it’s insane. anyways her story is about figuring out her identity and finding a home in the queer community. also she kills her husband and that’s super cool (he deserves it).
the last one i’m going to go through is mimi and claudia, who are a lesbian couple in their like sixties. they own this super cute bakery/cafe/coffee shop in town and they used to live in nyc but ended up there for claudias family. I love them. after charity’s husband dies of ‘natural causes in his sleep’ she gets a job at their shop and they tough love her through her queer journey. I love them so much queer wine aunts basically
the other ones are all siblings or cousins of these ones and have a study group that ends up meeting at claudia and mimis! thank you so much for letting me ramble about them🥺

you’re my favorite person on this website :(( you’re just so sweet and kind and genuine <333
i had this really lovely tarot reading done yesterday that really resonated with me so i’m feeling better about the future but i’m just scared cause i’m moving to nyc in august and i so badly want to date and go to gay bars and clubs and really live my life but i’m scared it won’t work out
idk i think it’s my anxiety tbh it’s gotten worse with quarantine like i just want to kiss a girl :(
I love you okay? never forget that!! <333333
girl life's too short to stay on regrets!! even if it doesn't work out, when you'll look back at this period of your life you'll be like okay i don't regret anything bc at least i tried while staying true to who I am, even if you eend up marrying a man ...if you're too queer for that right now the best you can do for your mental health is start slow, maybe try to talk to a community of LGBTQ+ situated in NY to get acquaintance and have people to hang out with, and then go to a bar, just to have fun with your friends at first to see if you feel like fitting in these type of areas and if you feel like you belong, just try to talk to people, and just going step by step, following your guts and your needs, it'll go just fine and you'll have nothing to be scared for!!
like stephen king once said "The scariest moment is always before you start" so once you just make the first step, it'll just follow along and you'll shine like you deserve!

Welcome to the next installment of our Gnome Spotlight: Notables series. The notables series is a look at game developers in the gaming industry doing good work. The series will focus on game creators from underrepresented populations primarily, and each entry will be a short bio and interview. We’ve currently got a group of authors and guest authors interviewing game creators and hope to bring you many more entries in the series as it continues on. If you’ve got a suggestion for someone we should be doing a notables article on, send us a note at [email protected]. – Head Gnome John

Talking With Brie
1) Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work.
I’m Brie Sheldon, a tabletop game designer, editor, and journalist. I’ve been working in games since like 2011 or so, on everything from more traditionally structured and complex games to simple narrative games. I write smaller games for my Thoughty. I worked on the main design team for the  Turn’s core mechanic with Struggles and Powers and the 2d6+1d6 rolling mechanic is basically “Well I guess Powered by the Apocalypse is cool but what if I just took this, and I stomped on it, and make this mean something completely different,” and I love it.

Sometimes breaking things is such a brilliant way to create newer, better things.
6) How does gender/queerness fit into your games?
Some of my work is about examining things about ourselves, including our gender and orientation, but I don’t know if it’s obvious. One of my original lonely games, Locked Away, which is in the Of the Woods collection, is actually about the loss of innocence and the familial suspicion when there’s social deviance. briecs.itch.io, and doing a project on teaching leadership through games. I’m trying to work on some smaller games as well, collaborations and some personal stuff. I am finishing grad school so my free time is a little limited, but I am hoping that soon I’ll be able to dig in a little more deeply!
11) Who/what games are some of your influences?
Some of the designers I particularly like are Nathan Paoletta and Jason Morningstar, Aura Belle. I try not to get too into the loving-designer culture in part because people are Notoriously Disappointing, and because I don’t want to design just like anyone else. I really love elements of these designer’s work, though – and I also just like how they do their work. Aura designs in a very visceral way – something I’d love to be known for but it’s not quite me. I’ve tried it, didn’t go.
Nathan creates clever designs integrated with visual design, which I envy but I’m not a visual designer so that’s harder for me. Jason does sooooo much research, which will never happen for me (that’s why I design what I know most of the time). Everyone has their own style, I guess? If anything, I’m more likely to design in rejection of someone else’s work (more destruction), and for politeness’ sake I’m not about to say whose work made me mad enough to make something.
As far as specific games, I like some thematic stuff like Shadowrun’s setting is great, Sagas of the Icelanders is awesome in the way it handles gender and social norms, and I try to learn from everything without copying. It’s sometimes hard because you see stuff and you’re like “oo cool I wanna do that too!” but then you’re like “I wanna do my own thing!” For me though, a lot of the time it’s like, “this pisses me off for [any given reason]! I gotta do something about that!” It’s fun that way, though.
Thanks for joining us for this entry in the notables series.  You can find more in the series here: and please feel free to drop us any suggestions for people we should interview at [email protected].
