Who's your favorite kaito derivative? How about Meeks derivatives?
oh miku is an easy answer, i ADORE hagane miku. thats my wife, i want her to kick me in the face
as for kaito, its a little harder to chose bc i really just like OG kaito. i was never keen on the shion brothers. i do however enjoy taito, kageito, and kamaito tho.

Vocaloid Songs You Might Have Missed - December 2023
Welcome back to my blog. Just like that, it's the last post for the year... never mind that it's already 2024. But for this longtime fan, 2023 was the best year in ages for Vocaloid music.
Something I mentioned in an earlier entry is that so much Vocaloid music over the past few years has felt like bait for singers to cover. (And to paste their avatars over in the videos... I'm far from the first person to notice this!) I don't mention this entirely to be a hater, but to contrast with the type and quality of release I've seen this year. Many of the 'vtuber bait' songs I poke fun at are truly great and destined to live on forever in Vocaloid history, but I've always felt a difference between songs that use vocal synths in the absence of a human singer and those that lean into the synthetic nature of the voices and the characters that represent them.
Over the past few years, a renewed interest in idiosyncratic voicebanks like Adachi Rei, Utane Uta (entirely synthetic), and the MAIDLOIDs (derived from a h-game moan synthesis engine) has coincided with technological advancement: the entry of SynthV, Neutrino, and CeVIO voicebanks have been fuel for an explosion in new music -- a genuine Vocaloid renaissance.
SynthV Teto has been particularly instrumental in all this since her release in April. In mere months, SV Teto has catapulted at least one producer into online superstardom, and an associated reevaluation of UTAU Teto has seen her behind some of the biggest songs this year. Nostalgia was part of the reason 2023 was the Year of Teto, but the SynthV voicebank, which totally maintained Teto's character while shaking off the computer-y crunchiness, is an achievement well worth the fanfare it received. With December's release of SynthV GUMI, are we in for a similar treat in 2024?
Anyways, last month's post is here, and this month's is under the break.
P.S. Speaking of nostalgia... did you know that Dixie Flatline is back?
Full playlist here, individual tracks below.
心酔 / あすわど feat. 重音テト Standard voca-pop rock, but something about the stuttering drums and a finely tuned Teto is *chef's kiss* more than enough for me.
死んだっぽいぜ / クソ犬 feat. 知声 I'd never heard a Vocaloid producer take on this kind of rock, somewhat reminiscent of pre-Warner Devo and a dead ringer for ZAZEN BOYS at their best. I also never expected to hear a Maki cover of "Lithium," so this producer is my current king of breaking new ground.
アサルト / いおぎりょう feat. 知声 Ryo Iogi's Teto hyperpop from September is one of my favorite tracks of the year, and I've been anxious to hear something new from him. Like the last song on this list, Chis-A's voice lends itself well to a good grungy guitar riff.
かくほ / よかど feat. 足立レイ Like Chis-A, Rei's voice pairs naturally with a certain kind of music... usually the skittery electronic dance-pop kind, so it's refreshing to hear a Coaltar of the Deepers-esque song featuring her.
sh*ellll;gar~ey / あずきねこp feat. カゼヒキβ, 初音ミク Finally, Kazehiki Beta hyperpop!
エビチャーハン! (You’re Telling Me A SHRIMP Fried This Rice?!) / Jamie Paige feat. 初音ミク Jamie Paige is behind just about every English Vocaloid song that I like (sorry Crusher-P, but I'm not an edgy teenager anymore), so I wasn't surprised to love her celebration of the Snow Miku 2024 "Shrimpku" design. And it's always funny to hear Miku say fuck.
ルナシー / 報瀬 feat. 初音ミク, 重音テト There's something so satisfying about hearing a "traditional" vocasynth sing alongside one of the next-gen, realistic-sounding ones. I love getting hit back-to-back with a crunchy melismatic Miku call and Teto soaring smoothly in response, especially paired with an uptempo saxophone riff that makes me want to shout ᴶaᵃaˢₒⁿ ᴰₑʳᵤᵘᵤˡₒᵒₒᵒ.
ドキドキ / tiputica feat. AiSuu I can't find anything about this artist. They have a Twitter account with one post about this song, zero followers or follows, and that's it. If anyone out there has more information on this artist, hit me up.
マジカルメモリー / in the blue shirt feat. 初音ミク in the blue shirt isn't new to Vocaloid, but he's much more known among netlabel followers for his sunny, sample-driven plunderphonic pop. His Miku music follows that feeling.
今日のずんだはみなごろし / ちから feat. ずんだもん,東北ずん子, イタコ, きりたん, 四国めたん, ナクモ I barely know where to start with this one. Like, uh, most people who don't listen to Pentatonix, I'm not particularly fond of a certain brand of a capella music, but when it's done this well, with such a satisfying complexity of harmony and counterpoint, and for Zundamon's birthday of all occasions, how can you not fall in love?
サンタの眠る夜 / ぐーすかぽー feat. 初音ミク The holidays have just wrapped up, and while there's never any shortage of Vocaloid Christmas songs, ones that are actually enjoyable to listen to are few and far between... though I think there's a new market opening for New Years music!
Trajectory / ごーぶす feat. KAITO Hey, it's KAITO's first appearance on here! A chill ballad with a beautiful rnb chord progression.
え?ちょっと待って寒すぎない? / asanuko feat. 鏡音レン Speaking of rnb, I think I've mentioned on here how much I love Rin for rnb/garage. asanuko's song is funny as hell, and I'm sure I'll be singing it under my breath as the winter chill continues to settle in, but mostly I'm impressed at how good Rin sounds for this kind of music.
夜空の再構成 / ヨハク feat. 初音ミク This style of song/video has been getting popular recently... electric piano, rapid-fire bass, intricate drum programming, synth leads that twist and turn around the melody, and all of the chord/time information you could ever hope for. A little showboating for music nerds, but it's stimulating enough and I do like it.
ボクにあいそうなはこ / MIDy feat. カゼヒキβ Finally, Kazehiki Beta hy-- wait a second.
ずんだ体育大学コール / さたぱんP feat. ずんだもん, 春日部つむぎ, WhiteCUL, 四国めたん, 白上虎太郎, 青山龍星 The Zundamon gods demand a sacrifice of joke songs, so here it is. See if you can count the references in the zunda dances.
*・゚+。園にて.゚ / ukaihi feat. 初音ミク ukaihi is 3 for 3 on making it onto this list. I'm sure #4 will make it on here, too... if they don't become popular enough for most people to come across their music first!
絵空事未来 / 真島ゆろ feat. 初音ミク Where the ukaihi song seemed to float, this one skips. 真島ゆろ is one of those producers who can change styles from song to song, and this take on a sasakure.uk-gone-lighthearted style is a winner.
ナイトランナー / d0tc0mmie feat. 重音テト Osaka mentioned... d0c0mmie did a great job capturing a feeling with this one. The laid back - but quick - drums bring back memories of running around Namba with friends way too late into the night.
ハイパー. / ikomai feat.Ciちゃんβ My favorite submission from #PVSF2023R -- so obviously the video is great, but the original track from ikomai blew me away. I think my taste in music is easily read from my blog posts, and this kind of song is nothing out of the ordinary for me, but the Jacob Collier style turnaround at 0:58 knocked me out.
エグい速度での俯瞰 / もっちりしたパン feat.可不, ナースロボ_タイプT Nurse Robo Type T and Kafu doing what they do best -- talking and mirroring a superspeed jazz fusion piano riff.
NSFW Bonus - メスガキヨーデル / enunichime feat. 重音テト First of all, I have never heard a vocasynth yodel before, and I was not expecting it to sounds this good. Second of all, you can't be making songs about this white baby.

Get To Know Me Tag Game!
(Thanks to @bg-sparrow and @professorsaber for tagging me)
1) Spell your name in songs (Songs I enjoy to listen to. Also 3 songs with the letter O and a K song??? This was hard)
Bushes of Love (Star Wars) by Bad Lip Reading
One Way or Another by Blondie
Oh Wonder - Without You (Justice Skolnik Remix)
Karma by Vocaloid
Where is Your Rider by The Oh Hellos
One Mint Julep by the Clovers
Ruler of Everything by Tally Hall
Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra
2) Why did you choose your URL?
My URL is derived from MythicalBookWorm. I wanted this to be it originally but it was already taken :( I created it back in 2020 when I joined a little kids coding website called Scratch. Now how I came up with it? No fun story there. Just stared at the sign-up pages for a while, trying to come up with characteristics about me before this popped into my head. Ever since then this has been my user online. After all, Scratch got me into art and animation, and online in general. I still really like the URL and it is officially me online.
3) What is your middle name?
I don't feel comfortable saying it as it is apart of my real name. However: In the context of my full name, I like my middle name. It flows extremely nicely and is the reason my parents gave me it, along with the name being in the family once before. By itself though? Never liked it. In or out of context I have always hated the name. Put it on anyone, anything, don't like it.
4) If you could be any mythical creature, what would you be?
Isn't funny how I have contemplated this a lot? Now if we were going by personality, I would definitely be a phoenix. However, this is choice. So 100% dragon! Think about it: flight, fire, and fingers! It's the best combination of fun, powerful, and convenient/realistic. Plus wouldn't it be cool to roll your throat and make those super intimidating throat growls?
5) Favorite color?
Magenta! 2nd is Lavender, 3rd is Teal/Cyan.
6) Song you love right now?
Well, recently watched and fell in love with the Back to the Future Musical, so Hello, is Anybody Home? and Teach Him a Lesson (That he'll always forget! <Never forget>) Also found Crane Wives recently so I've been enjoying their songs as well. :)
7) Top four fandoms?
Back to the Future
Amphibia
Wings of Fire
Gravity Falls
Back to the Future and Amphibia are pretty interchangeable though. Currently it's BttF but Amphibia was on top for a lot longer before it.
8) Tag nine people

EXCUSE ME I RECENTLY DISCOVERED VOCALOIDS AND IMMEDIATELY FELL IN LOVE WITH OLIVER /p
thank you for blessing us with ur Oliver art <3 he needs more love fr. and more happy songs.
i just got here so im not sure if you've mentioned it before, but do you have a fav Oliver song? :3
I'm glad you like my art of him! I've been drawing him for 9-ish years now, but it's always nice to hear other fans of his also like my art! I don't actually talk to a lot of Oliver fans haha.
I always really really admired Dappleback/Lawlietlk's designing skill, and I had a whole presentation how much I appreciated his character design and how it lead back into why I think as a vocaloid he has one of the best designs.
Like don't get me wrong, Vocaloid (and other synths) have really good designs, just sometimes they aren't necessarily as good as Vocaloid designs y'know?
Like hear me out, I feel like the biggest appeal of vocaloid mascots is this: They can be whatever you want. Now on one hand you can argue that 'no mascot' is even Moreso freedom and should have worked better than mascot, but what's missing is the intrigue. There is a breeding ground of creativity hidden beneath restriction.
Like, often enough what people need most in order to create something is just a guideline, and for me that's what Oliver offers. Like, sometimes, too much canon is a bad thing, and people need to remember that.
The #1 selling point of Oliver's design is the intrigue his design offers. There's so much of it that once changed loses that 'space of expression.' And yet, no matter how much you are able to change, he also is able to maintain that 'constant' that lets you know that yes, that is still him, even if you change it. I don't have it anymore but it's been years, but I had a whole chart explaining it.
Over the years Oliver has gotten a lot of motifs and concepts assigned to him, that only derive from smaller aspects of his designs, for example: His bandages.
While you may argue it's not entirely unique, that is exactly the beauty of it. It's because of that so many different concepts stem from it.
One of the biggest themes correlated with Oliver is a monster/horror theme and you have the bandages to thank for it. The amount of concepts I've seen born from the sheer mystery of his bandages were so vast it's crazy. Whether it's because he's a cryptid/monster/cursed or otherwise, people are forced to make an effort to use that "why?"
And on the flip side, there is other mysteries people find from his bandages that aren't horror, they're instead going for something else: A poor waif, a vigilante, a witch, and etc. Through the simple [why], Oliver becomes limitless.
And while we're still discussing his bandages, there is elsewhere you can find beauty in his design. I know a lot of his fans are or were children when they became fans of him, and I know for a fact that some of them related to his design. It's not like he had much to go against them in thinking that-- and it's not just because of his song. For me as a child I projected onto him as a (character) as someone I could relate to. That's uh, probably why a lot of people tend to use him for horror or darker stuff. I know that some people are... unsavory, but that's why I don't really like when people hate on horror content made from him. I know a lot of people are weird about him, but it's a form of self-expression all the same.
Even aside from his bandages, his design still manages to offer intrigue. While Miku allows herself to be a blank canvas (being a mascot with very little ties, a digital idol who represents exactly that) Oliver is more like... a puzzle? Except there is no wrong answer and every time you put it together, it's always different.
There was a lot of misconceptions around his design, but Oliver was based off choirboy outfits-- not that everyone knew that. A lot of people interpreted it as a sailor outfit with nautical themes. That's why you can often see Oliver with sea-themed artworks or songs and/or if it's still around, sea-side waif depictions of him. But on the other side, there were quite a few interpretations of Oliver as a time-traveler- a noble- or hell: a literal bird boy.
Had he been given a more generic design, a more modern one, a more idol-esque version of himself, most of these interpretations of him would not exist. There would be less incentive for people to create that answer without the "why."
I don't really have a proper ranking on a more 'objective' ranking of designs as vocaloid specific mascot designs, but I feel like it's somewhat similar to... actual popularity?
Like... If i had to separate them, there's three categories in a venn diagram: Just straight up Good design (though I'd argue a lot of the other two would still fit in here), Fill-in the blank design, and blank canvas design.
I would say the OG Miku fits in all 3 categories but has been erring into just good design or her own category: too engrained into pop culture to fail.
Fukase is a good example of a Fill-in design, because he also has the classic "why" to his design. (Why is his coat like that? why does he have scars? is he human? is he a robot? Is he circus themed? Who knows?) You can see a lot of exploration of his character through that.
Vflower I feel like is primarily in the blank canvas design, because she more-so encompasses a certain fashion style and is able to attract the blank canvas of gender expression as well.
At the moment, to be honest, I can't really think of someone who only fit's in the straight up good character design but doesn't offer any mystery or fluidity, but that might just be my personality.
To be entirely clear, this venn diagram is probably closer to just a single circle instead of 3, but I'm mostly talking about which part of their design they align most with. (and the most common consensus of how to interpret them.
To be honest this is probably why I feel a bit like a Fake Oliver fan, bc I care more about his design more than his voicebank itself. (Sweats as I look at the vocaloid editor on my computer)
Man. Favorite Oliver song is tough.
Favorite Usage
I'll only be mentioning the publicly released songs using him, since it's a bit unfair if I recommend you something you either have no access to or I'm unable to find again.
To be honest I'm not a huge fan of some of Oliver's most known producers, mostly because I know they're not great people and refuse to support them. It's none of my business if you still listen to them, but I'd rather not. But, It's nice going down my old masterlist of Oliver originals.
I really like Rawbeans-P, if you ever heard her usage of Oliver, it's crazy stunning. Probably some of the best usage of him you'll ever hear.
Cat in a raincloud I know is relatively popular among my friends that I've pushed Robyn's music onto.
I feel like high up there is also Corasundae, who is honestly has a pretty refreshing (?) song-making style. I'm really not a music guy- meaning I never learnt a lot of terms properly and can't describe a lot of things to you, but I really like the general sound that corasundae uses in her works.
I think T.V.V.S is a pretty iconic song, but I'm emotionally attached to Other Side.
One of the songs I see people rarely talking about is Requiescat in Pace- I get it's probably because it's an older song, but I've always liked how it sounded and was a staple for me as a kid (and still fairly fresh into Vocaloid.) I don't think PARADIGM really released much else, but this song is sooo cool, I think about it a lot!
I'm not sure if you don't like horror, or just disappointed that it's a majority of his songs, but I don't think it's leaning too much into horror? It's really good though!
youtube
Another one of my favorite Vocaloid producers (the one I bought a keychain from as well!) is Veran Kuriensu! I found them originally from their original Lay, and it's possibly still one of my favorite Vocaloid Oliver Originals still to this day. While it's my favorite, I do know that they've improved drastically and their other works with Oliver is crazy good, but Lay has a special spot to me and makes me feel especially Nostalgic.
I've always liked how the lyrics sounded as well. I think otherwise my second favorite song from them is 星をあつめに. It's really good I Promise. Please please do give their stuff a chance!!
youtube
youtube
I feel like another producer I'd recommend for similar reasons to Rawbeans-P is Baggagelizard. He's always forever been kind of a legend to me! He's a super cool guy, and he has really good usage of Oliver's voicebank as well. One of my favorite songs he's done is Song for the forgotten, which was even my Oliver Collab piece back in like... 2016? That's honestly a bit crazy to me seeing how long it's been.
Baggagelizard tends to have such a special sound to the music he makes, I think it's kind of... a morose wistfulness? If you're into this one, I genuinely hope you check out his other works as well!
youtube
youtube
Actually I'm adding this one, because I really like the atmosphere of it! It's called Tavern and it's a really fun song using Big Al, Oliver, and Kaito and I think it's such a fun song! Apparently other Oliver fans I've recommended it said it wasn't their cup of tea though (′д`σ)σ.
youtube
OH and how could I forget: Childhood Bye-Bye is honestly borderline a classic for me! I think it's a really iconic song, but it always surprises me that it's not as popular as I think it is. The producers other works are also really good!
youtube
Oooh, another Producer I can recommend is Compasscat! They use Uni, SeeU, and sometimes Oliver (maybe other vocaloids but I'm actually writing this in class (lol). You should try checking them out! I think I enjoyed it but I've been told the things I like are... different from how other people like things.
youtube
Actually, on the thought of not-so dark songs using Oliver, I hardly see any Oliver fans (or Yohioloid) fans talking about Yellow Card. I hadn't listened to it for years, but I still think it's pretty fun to this day, you could try checking it out if you feel like it. While we're at it, I'll add a bunch of special mentions for songs I knew were fairly liked enough when I was deeper into vocaloid but never see people talk about anymore as well. To be honest, I'd have a lot more to add to this list, but a lot of Oliver Originals I really liked are deleted or missing.... I understand it's at the producer's own discretion, but it's a little sad.
Unfortunately, A lot of the Bilibili/Niconico songs that I really liked were deleted or really really hard to access/find, but I'll reblog if I find them again.

System Infodump
I thought it might be fun to talk about my system, and what goes on in our brain.
I'm more than happy to answer questions, for example if you're wondering what some these words mean. I encourage learning about plurality if you aren't educated on it!
Here's a link to our system carrd
▪▪▪
What do we call our system?
We call our system the Utaite System!
▪▪▪
What does our system name mean? (Taken directly from our carrd)
Utaite (歌い手) is derived from the word Utattemita (歌ってみた), which means literally 'tried to sing'. Utaite are mainly cover singers, doing covers of Vocaloid, anime, and J-Pop songs. Though some do original music!
A system member of ours, Mafumafu (まふまふ) decided to name the system as we weren't able to come up with one ourselves, and it stuck. We like the uniqueness of our system name!
Utaite were also a big special interest at the time our system was discovered, lol
▪▪▪
What is our system like?
We are a mixed origins OSDD system (traumagenic/endogenic/maybe others). We have more than 220 known members.
Labels we use to describe our experiences include but aren't limited to; plural, system, headmate, alter, and system member.
Our system had to be discovered 3 times before it stuck, due to feeling like we were faking, because we didn't realize DID isn't the only plural experience.
Our system is mostly made up of factives and fictives, with a smaller number of non-introject headmates!
We have a sidesystem (or subsystem, we aren't sure) of various Nathan's that have different purposes to front for. We aren't sure which of us is host, or if there is one!
We have one more subsystem within our whole system, but likely more.
▪▪▪
Who is in our system?
Listing off every member in my system would be really long, so here are some members that front the most often at this point in time, or are important in our system.
(Big) Nathan, Main host of the system and around the most often
Little Nathan, Co-host of the system and a little
Caretaker Nathan, Tends to take care of our partner system's littles
Emo, A scemocore teenager
Kanon, Vtuber introject
Rinu, Host of one of our subsystems
▪▪▪
Our partner system!
The Castle System (@senrrrra) is a DID system that we are engaged to! We've been together nearly 2 years, I love them and care for them so deeply, they mean the world to us. We also live together teehee :3c I can't wait to get married!! ♡♡♡
▪▪▪
Uhhh I hope you guys liked my system post, I thought it would be fun to make to help my followers get to know us

Finally got in a sudden mood to draw fanart, lmao. It’s 1:23 AM in the morning but it was fuckign WORTH IT I love Haku sm
I think with the fattest news to ever shake and quake this community in a hot minute with Teto’s SynthV announcement, I’ve found myself thinking more and more about older Vocaloids, UTAUs and derivatives who used to be more popular. Haku isn’t “forgotten” about in the least bit obviously, it’s just, especially with the resurgence of Triple Baka (which also don’t get me wrong I love seeing Neru get so much love lately she’s SO cool omiomiomiomfdiomd finally she was always bad as hell but—) I feel Haku is the one out of the two “main” Miku derivatives that people don’t seem to talk about as much. Which is a shame, because I’ve always digged this depressed, sometimes melancholic look she has, depending on how she’s drawn. :0c
Sorry for rambling lmfaoooodfsiomsdfimofsd I do that way too much waUUUGh

Me and my friend had a crazy idea. Since every prsk character is depressed and needs therapy, could a sekai be representing therapy through music???
I would love to hear your thoughts on this!!!
I don't think it's a crazy idea at all and I would say there's definitely truth to that statement actually! The Vocaloids in each SEKAI all exist to help the characters reflect on and understand their feelings, even the SEKAI themselves do this sometimes (e.g: the sky in School SEKAI changing with the girls' feelings, the stuffed toys in Wonderland SEKAI being influenced by the troupe's emotions). While not all the character's problems are solved directly through music, music and community does tie it all together, and of course, the SEKAI is directly tied to Vocaloid. So yeah, the SEKAI does seem like a stand-in for music therapy, even more so when you consider that songs based on the character's emotions actually manifest within the SEKAI. I think this whole system helps them a lot with processing their emotions and understanding themselves, in the same way therapy does.
I do just wanna correct one thing there and say that not every character is depressed. Yes, they all have their low points, but no way are they all depressed. You look at someone like Kohane, who I would consider one of the most mentally healthy characters. She's very she and has quite low self-esteem early on in the story, but I wouldn't say she was depressed at any point.
I do think though, since they are all in that later part of their teenage years where you're getting closer to adulthood and there's just so much stuff going on, that the SEKAI are a really good outlet for them. They just need to get their feelings out sometimes and therapy can be really good for people in that age range even if you aren't depressed or otherwise mentally ill.
I think Empty SEKAI is the most obvious example of being a theraputic sekai. Even if it's not conventional or the greatest at times. Most of the virtual singers are standoffish and definitely don't handle things in the right way, but they still do help the characters come to terms with their feelings. Specifically outlining KAITO in immiscible discord here. Don't want to spoil it for people who haven't read it so I'll be quite vague. But that is not how you handle a situation like Mafuyu's. Yes, it was something she needed to face, and deep down knew (KAITO is derived from Mafuyu after all), but he was extremely harsh on her when what he was telling her should've probably been let down on her much lighter. I'm not to familiar with the work that the event song is based on but it shows that Mafuyu is slowly accepting what KAITO was telling her - she hates what she has become because of how she let people treat her and even if she isn't ready to outwardly accept it entirely yet, deep down she has, and the SEKAI has created this song to help her reach that acceptance. The song is surprisingly aggressive which makes a lot of sense when you consider that KAITO is the featured vocaloid.
On the better side of Empty SEKAI you have Miku. Miku is really interesting to me because she is mainly a source of comfort rather than a guide or a therapist. She's always there for Mafuyu and will do anything Mafuyu wants or needs. Because, especially when the SEKAI manifested, Mafuyu just needed something. Miku is actually very similar to Mafuyu in that she doesn't feel a whole lot and she's learning about all these new emotions at the same time as Mafuyu re-learns them. It's a journey they're taking together and although it's not conventional, I think it helps Mafuyu a lot to just have someone there to walk the same path as her.
I think it's especially interesting that the only song in the SEKAI at first was the one Kanade wrote. Although she wanted the other Niigo members to stay out of her business at the time, the song still meant something to her. There was someone who cared enough to try. She didn't truly grasp that that was how she felt, but Miku did, even if she wasn't entirely aware of it either. Music is an integral part of Mafuyu's recovery in particular, since not only do N25 and OWN act as a way for her to put her unspoken feelings into words, but the SEKAI can do it for her - it can get all those repressed emotions out of her since the SEKAI is her in a way, and I think it's such an effective way for her to confront how she really feels and slowly understand and recover from her depression.
So in conclusion I think you're right OP and I went REALLY offtopic there sorry about that I just ended up getting into the feel of it.
This is worded really badly bc it's late and I'm tired but I hope it's still kinda understandable
If any of the immiscible discord stuff is wrong 1. i'm tired 2. i read the event through google translate so correct me if im talking bullshit

calne ca !!!!!!!!!!!;!!!!!!!!;!!!!!!!!;;; calne ca is a fanloid made by deino. she is a derivative of Hatsune Miku. she is only called "calne ca" when cosplaying Miku, her "base"(?) is just called "ca". she is called "ca" because that is the chemical symbol for calcium and she is a skeleton. calne ca is officially recognised by cfm ! she can be found in early project dive games as "background skins"*
*from the Vocaloid fandom wiki, I'm not sure what "background skins" refers to aoauagahjjjjj i love calne ca

DD/PM'S PLAYLIST OF VOCALOID SONGS ! (2023)
Tumblr media
Hi! So, I have been in this side of the internet for a long while, and on the request of one of my mutuals, I've made what I call THE Vocaloid playlist (In my opinion!!)
This is separated in two categories; CLASSICS that everyone should/does know, and BANGERS, that for some reason or another didn't make the classics.
There are some additional categories that I've added, those being: weird songs I really like in some way or another, and songs that are technically UTAU or derivatives.
They are also separated by language and grouped by producers (and credited, hopefully all correctly) but there is no general order to them - important noting here as well that some of the producers might nowadays not be the best people around, but I didn't take that into account.
Please enjoy this!! I put a lot of effort, so I'd love to see any opinions or additions!
Now let's get started!

RIGHT BACK AT YOU. ART GAME NUMBERS 1, 17, AND 22
(And mayyyybe 20 if you'd like to ;))
YIPPEE
How would you describe your style?
Hm. That's always a hard question for me. Mine is a bit more cartoony and certainly takes liberties when it comes to how realistic it is, but at the same time I try to get things close to accurate (such with anatomy and detail and whatnot).
I can't find words that pinpoint what my style looks like, but I can certainly find the inspirations that got it to where it is now. (Anime and various animations!)
Since we're speaking of my style though, fun fact: I CAN'T for the life of me imitate other people's art styles. It'll always look really similar to my regular art style, just changed up a bit. I see challenges were people imitate different art styles and realize, "Wow! That's cool! How the HELL did they do that!!"
17. What do you love getting compliments about?
When it comes to art? Anything, to be honest. Hell, I'm happy if people reblog my art without any tags. (Although, once or twice, I've gotten an "inspo" or a keysmash or a slight ramble and that really made my day.)
What I like most though is feedback on my OCs. I'm honestly rather bad at character design, and I love knowing what people think about them. Alas, people hardly see my OC art...when I do post it. </3
22. What inspires you?
MANY THINGS, my friend. Some things have made lifelong shifts on my art style (ex: the shading under the chin technique I use is derived from the anime Black Clover!), but most often, I get inspired to draw a specific thing.
Music often inspires me- especially vocaloid, and especially if there's art featured in the video. One of my favorite vocaloid songs is Reckless Battery Burns and I'm obsessed with the MV in it.
TV and movies inspire me, too. I adore the Owl House and have noticed some completely unintentional similarities between Hunter and one of my own characters! Also, bringing back Black Clover, there's a lot of worldbuilding from Masked inspired from that anime.
Books inspire me too! A good example of that is my Shapeshifter/Badgeseller 1984 comic. Another series that gives me inspiration is the Giver series by Lois Lowry (not just the first book, the entire thing, all four books). Ooh, and also the Pandava series (or the Aru Shah series, I don't fully know what to call it). Writing is cool! :)
Secret question: 20. A piece from this year that you're really proud of!
Most of my art this year is Shadow Rift, haha...let me see what I can find.
Tumblr media
^ This one is a good starting point! This one was me playing around with lighting. I found a new technique to use with my art program, and was just messing around with it. So I paid less attention to the background and colors to do so. Here's a fraction of a screenshot I took when I realized just how good it was!
Tumblr media
I was going to compare it to another one of Shadow Rift's pieces, but I realized that discussion would be too long. And would ruin the magic of the piece I was comparing. Whatever.
Next one has bright colors!
Tumblr media
I was mostly playing around with colors and proportions on this one, and I really like the turnout. This is the rare piece of Doodle OC art. Her name is Krystll, and YES I will infodump about her if asked.
And, for the final thing I'm super proud of, that Shapeshifter/Badgeseller 1984 comic. Go look at it again, if you want to. :)
That's it for now! Thank you so much for asking! I'm willing to answer any follow up questions anywhere you like! (Tumblr, Discord, etc.)

I gotta know about your au Ron's they all look so friggin cool
Aight, so!!! All the concepts are SUPER OLD, so I'll prolly just use the new drawing.
Tumblr media
The top Ron was a fan concept for the Minus mod. He's an old computer program that miiight be alive and might also control all technology. I dunno I didn't think that far ahead.
The Ron on the left was inspired by the vocaloid producer Neru (not the same as the Hatsune Miku derivative, Akita Neru). Neru's music nowadays features lots of bright colors and a cool atmosphere, which I played into with the design. I also made concepts for Pinocchio-P BF and Kikuo Bob.
The Ron on the right was inspired by the song 'Reincarnation Apple' by Pinocchio-P. Thus, I've been calling this Ron 'Reincarnated'. The song had only just came out when I designed him, but I changed the design when making this drawing due to it being uh. Bad.
Lastly, the Ron in the center is my favorite. He's from an old unfinished FNF mod I planned called the 'Multicolor Mod'! There was an entire side story with the other characters from Onslaught, as well as Zaps and Aura (this au's BF and GF respectively), but the mod never ended up going anywhere.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Little Man design was made by my friend Phrog, and I. Still love how cute it looks..
Anyways, I could send the whole planned story here, as well as the old Reincarnated design, but I might just do that in a reblog if anyone's curious.

would you recpmmend the miku game im chewing for new rhythm games for my phone
i wholeheartedly recommend project sekai i fucking adore it and if you like rhythm games and you're a miku enthusiast i'm sure you'll derive some enjoyment from it as well :) it's got a very lovely cast of very sweet darling kiddos alongside the vocaloids and i think their individual stories are sooooo charming and they make me smile!
just like, a general blanket warning for nightcord at 25:00 !! their story frequently tackles themes of depression and suicidal ideation, so do be careful! otherwise, have fun forever

Keisou's Vocaloid Bios
Hatsune Miku:
-V4X (Original, Dark, Sweet, Soft, Solid), V4 English, V3 English
-16 years old, Japanese, android.
-5'2" and about 92.5 pounds, as in canon. (158cm, 42kg) Slight build with somewhat wide hips.
-Lyric soprano, generally more comfortable in her higher range compared to her low range
-Native language: Japanese. Speaks English as a second language. Can speak Chinese but her accent isn't very good (I don't have her Chinese VB). Avanna is feeding her bits of Irish as well.
-Miku units wake up with no memories and develop their personalities and "souls" through interactions with others, so they can be very distinct from one another. Mine got her personality from interacting with the world around her and other vocal synths.
-She is very cheerful, bubbly and sweet-natured, with an underlying air of wisdom and experience from being one of the earlier Vocaloids and the first "diva" Vocaloid, as well as from being Keisou's first Vocaloid.
-Became a Christian through Keisou and Avanna's influences.
-Her Japanese can have hints of a Hokkaido accent from the influence of her home prefecture- e.g. she has a tendency to say "namara" instead of "totemo" as an intensifier. She also has a tendency to end her sentences in "da yo" and "ne". She more or less always uses "watashi" as a personal pronoun (unless formality dictates otherwise).
-She has extreme tolerance of spicy food. Hot Ones? She'd get through the whole thing without breaking a sweat. Some find it scary.
-Nimble and athletic; can be a bit of a showoff, often unintentionally.
-Loves technology; has often shown Avanna the ropes of the latest gadgets.
-Fashion lover, likes to style herself and her friends.
-Likes nature, but more at home in civilization. Definitely a city girl.
-Not an extremely experienced chef; more likely to help someone or follow a recipe (or toss together a salad). She can be very creative when it comes to arranging food though.
-Learned American English so her accent tends toward American-ish, and her vocabulary is derived from the speech of such a country. So the long thin potato slices are "fries" and the flat crispy ones are "chips," for example. However, she's pretty devoid of regional dialect as a non-native speaker aside from "vaguely American".
-Great at video games.
Avanna:
-Single stand-alone voicebank (V3)
-18 years old, Irish, elf.
-5'6", rather curvy in build (around 156 pounds); or 168cm, ~71kg. Hourglass figure; wears a corset in her boxart outfit, so her waist isn't quite that tiny in reality.
-Lyric contralto; can hit high notes, but is more comfortable in her mid and low ranges. Miku has noted that Avanna has a deep voice compared to her.
-Native language: English; Irish (South-Dublin-y) accent. Speaks Irish/Gaeilge as a second language, and is learning some Japanese from Miku.
-Has visited the city near her home, but feels more at home in a country environment. I'd imagine she's from somewhere near south County Dublin; could be from the county itself or maybe a county near it, like Wicklow or Meath? For now I might just say "eastern Ireland" and leave it at that
-Can change the shape of her ears at will. Elf ears have sensitive hearing, human ears are less hypersensitive and good for noisy areas. They can also be helpful for making others more comfortable with her presence if elves would be weird to them.
-Speaks rather politely, in what could be seen by some as somewhat of an old-fashioned manner. Being Irish, she uses "eh" and "em" as fillers/thinking noises (rather than American "uh" or British "er"). She has a habit of peppering her sentences with "now" and occasionally ends them with "like."
-"Grand" is practically her favorite word. It's terribly useful, now. Like a plan? "Sounds grand!" Someone asks how you're doing? "Oh, I'm grand!" Someone needs comforting? "There, there. You're grand, now." Someone asks if they're intruding? "Ah, no, you're grand." Describing a large, generously decorated hall? "This place is rather grand, isn't it?"
-She's also a big fan of other nice positive words, such as "lovely" and "brilliant."
-Could be considered somewhat of a foil to Sonika (whom I no longer have, but she's still a character that exists), with her more spontaneous and cheeky ways, slang-heavy and informal speech, and impulsive tendencies, while Avanna is more polite, mild-mannered and cautious.
-She's very soft-spoken and doesn't yell a lot, though part of this is her mellow nature, part of it is because she has a soft voice and is not very good at yelling.
-Swears by flat 7-Up as a remedy for a great many things.
-Devout Christian. St. Patrick is unironically a hero of hers.
-Loves traditional Irish ballads and sean-nós
-Perhaps a bit surprisingly for being the sole Irish Vocaloid, she's not really a heavy drinker (and she won't drink in places where she isn't legal, of course). However, she knows the signs of drunkenness and is often very helpful if someone happens to get drunk or is dealing with a hangover.
-Has a MUCH lower tolerance of spicy flavors than Miku does. If they ate the same pepper, Miku wouldn't bat an eye and Avanna would be crying. (She likes chai tea but that's a different kind of spicy.)
-Loves nature; enjoys camping, creature-watching and stargazing.
-Not extremely technologically literate; can basically use a computer, but can often be helpless when things go wrong with it and Miku has often had to explain things to her especially if the technology is new. Despite this, she does find technology interesting and fascinating.
-Hobbies include reading, cooking, baking and painting. Excellent cook and quite cultured when it comes to Western literature. Unsurprisingly very fond of fantasy novels.
-Loves classic and "retro" things. Very unsurprisingly a Clannad/Enya fan, and Miku has gotten her into some great retro anime.
-Favorite foods are mainly comfort foods; fresh-baked bread, mashed potatoes, stew; loves a good roast (the culinary kind, not the verbal kind). She also likes fish, especially salmon. Her favorite drinks are tea and 7-Up (separately, not together, lol).
-Can play several instruments, especially traditional Irish instruments. Is especially skilled with violins and fiddles.
-Tends toward dresses and skirts over pants, and can overall be somewhat old-fashioned in her dress. Usually wears her hair loose or in braids, and doesn't normally wear makeup. Occasionally, however, Miku styles her and does her hair and makeup.
-The only reason she has any gaming skill whatsoever is because of Miku. Otherwise she wouldn't even know which buttons to press.
