Chapter 10 of my senti!Adrien Post Hawk Moth-defeat fanfic is out! This is straight up the best thing I have ever written so if you want to read any of my stuff, read this.
It was strange, seeing his father again after all this time. He was sitting there, hands neatly folded on his lap. He looked entirely out of place in prison, his calm composure being ridiculed by his tangerine clothes. They were dirty and mute in the flickering light, yet they didn't fail to assault Adrien’s eyes, burning the color that was so unlike his father deep into his mind.
“Adrien,” Gabriel greeted him with a smile. “I see you got my invitation.”
‘What invitation?’ Adrien wanted to ask. He hadn't received anything.

I left 300+ comments on fics in 3 days
So the Seasons of Drabbles fic exchange just wrapped up its summer round, and I had a blast with it! I plan on making a wrap-up post about my experience as both a writer and a reader, but first I want to talk about how I read and commented on 338 drabbles (aka everything posted as of the day authors were revealed) in one weekend. 👀
Why
First of all, why the fuck did I read and comment on sooooo many drabbles? For multiple reasons:
I haven't received many comments on my most recent fic updates which has left me pretty bummed out
If I'm going to claim "Even a simple heart emoji goes a long way!" then I should practice what I preach
I was so excited/impatient for fic reveals that I skimmed through past rounds for fandoms I like and found a fic that didn't have any comments even 5 months later, not even from the giftee :(
So yeah, I was determined that every single fic posted to the summer round was getting a heart emoji and a kudos from me BARE MINIMUM! And if I'm kudos-ing and commenting, then I might as well read the fic too. What if it's really good? What if it's really sad and a heart emoji doesn't fit the tone? I need to know these things!
Methodology
I made a game plan. My baseline comment was a purple heart 💜 because that's my go to color. If I found something to quote, I quoted it. If it was angsty (or seemed angsty), I might do an 'Ooph!' before the heart, or even a broken heart emoji paired with a 'Good job!'. If someone did a series of drabbles and split the drabbles up into their own chapters, I switched up the color of the hearts for each chapter -- and yes I did comment on each chapter! As an author, I LOVE when I get comments along the way and not just at the end. And as a reader, it gave me extra space to quote or add commentary, if I had it (and sometimes I did!). Commenting on every chapter is 👍👍👍 Do recommend.
But did I actually READ every single one of these fics, you ask? Yes. Like 99% of them. There were a couple where I knew enough about the fandom to know I wanted nothing to do with that or where the series of drabbles was so long, that I was like "oh bestie, I can't do it. I'm so sorry :(" But I still skimmed those enough to grasp the tone of the fic so I could modify my heart emoji comment as needed.
Results
OMG it was so frickin fun! I mean, did my eyes start to bleed? Did I have to take breaks from reading because I caught myself skimming too much? Yes, of course. IT WAS 338 DRABBLES IN THREE DAYS! And not all of them were 100-300 words long. Some of those were 1-2k words! I should've taken more breaks than I did, but I really wanted to get all/the majority done before author reveals for arbitrary reasons only my brain knows (it won't even tell me you guys 😜) But even still, it was super super fun to see the huge variety of fics out there!
It's also been a blast to see the author replies roll in. Some replied before author reveals so they still showed anonymous. Most waited until after the reveals and I got to learn that WHOA, so-and-so wrote like 7 of those drabbles! *applauds* Sometimes they replied with a thank you, sometimes it was their own preferred heart emoji. It's so cute seeing how other people like to say thank you, because I know I've definitely settled into a 'style' when I reply to comments on my fics. 💜
Would I do it again?
I honestly don't know. It was exhausting burning through all those fics in such a short amount of time. Now this particular fic exchange is smaller and only runs four times a year, so give me three months and I can probably do it again no problem. But right now, I definitely need a break lol No regrets though!!
Highlights of my reading:
I learned Object and Concept Anthropomorphism is a category on AO3. 😲 Which on the one hand, shouldn't surprise me because I KNOW I read crack fic with anthropomorphism back on LiveJournal. But it still delighted me to see it pop up in this fic exchange. XD
On that note Chess Pieces (Anthropomorphic) is apparently popular enough to warrant it's own, individual, fandom tag. Incredible information to know!! I love that!
There's a user named DanceWithOrangutans and they seem to only request or write orangutan fiction or maybe Planet of the Apes fic if they feel like branching out. Truly an icon to end all icons! 🌟 They're my new favorite person and I look forward to reading lots of orangutan flash fiction in future rounds 💜
I have absolutely no idea what was going on in any of the anime fics but some of them were super adorable and fluffy 🥰
My absolute favorite thing was when people who actually know that fandom commented before me, so when I left my little heart, I would get to read them squeeing and crying and freaking out over how good the drabble was. :') They'd be like 'IT WAS SO IN CHARACTER!!! 😭' and I'd be like 'oh cool, the author nailed it! 😄' 10/10 experience
And to wrap things up...

The use of gun imagery to describe their relationship -- which from the one viewing of the trailer I saw years ago, seems pretty fitting for the movie -- just blew my mind. "voice cracking like gunfire" in the next paragraph? -- GOOD GOD! Again, don't even remotely go here, but damn this fic was really well written!

You know what, yeah. You did write that, buddy! And you should remind everyone reading your fics that these are gifts! In or outside of a fic exchange. I approve! 👏

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
Thanks for the tag, @givereadersahug [x]!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Normally I like to specify "HP Fics" since that's my current mode, but altogether (with other fandoms and meta across other pseuds) I'm at 112! (101 for HP Fics, though! 😂)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
689,993 so far!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently just Harry Potter, but I have a few Marvel fics still on my account, under my danvers pseud!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Ooh interesting! Let's see...
Daddy's Boy (Snarry, E, 2k)
Daddy Knows Best (Snarry, E, 2k)
Obscene (Snarry, E, 1k)
Breed Me, Daddy (Snarry, E, 2k)
Contempt (Snarry, E, 20k)
0% surprised that 3/5 are Daddy fics LOL. Though lowkey offended that Contempt is only #5. My proudest work but boy oh boy do people love their weird porn!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Heck yes! Though I need to catch up now. It means the world to me that people take the time to leave me their love, so the least I can do is give my gratitude. You have no idea how much a comment makes my day!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Aha hands down this one is so easy: A Matter of Time. I am stupidly happy with how that one turned out, and just how well executed that angst was. Not to toot my own horn or anything!
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
idk why but my first thought was Orange Blossoms...which is pretty angsty-fluff all told and the ending is hopeful at best. My brain just goes: "that's a happy fic, right?" 😂 But actually I think probably The Curse of Anteros. That one's properly happy, I think, with plenty of angst beforehand to make that happy ending feel well worth it! Though someone is free to correct me, with over 100 fics maybe I lost a happier ending somewhere in there! 😂
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not often. I did go on a delete-a-spree late 2020 due to some rudeness. One person bookmarked a fic calling my writing "mediocre" and I sorta spiraled. Also I get the odd person leaving weird comments on Collateral Damage for the surprise (background) ship in there. Also the odd person who doesn't read tags on fics that are especially angsty or especially dead dove...idk for all the weird and problematic stuff I write I could get more hate I guess, though I'd rather not!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Who me? Nah. 👀 idk, I write whatever tickles my fancy! Oftentimes it's virginity loss cuz that's my favorite. I love big passion and bits of violence thrown in. Idk "what kind" actually means so hopefully that was a good explanation! A bit rough, a bit mean, a lot of passion, and it's probably someone's first time doing something.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No, but I want to! I have a HP + PJO crossover I swear I'm going to get to one day!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of and I really hope no one out there steals my fics. I work really hard on them and they mean a lot to me.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
A few!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No but again: I want to! I've had fanart made, and podfics, and translations...the closest I've come is for Snarry Bang and collaborating with an artist, which was The Curse of Anteros with @mrviran!
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
SNARRY!!!! OTP for 20 years and counting!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Geez. Probably old fics long abandoned on ffnet, but I won't get into those. (Though I'd really like to rewrite and continue/finish Resistance.)
16. What are your writing strengths?
...causing pain? Idk I don't feel I have strengths, but I'm told I hurt people's feelings 😂 I write intensity pretty well I think? I like to think my characterization is okay. idk!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
All of it. Writing in general. AHEM. Um....fluff? I'm almost curious enough to ask but no please don't tell me my weaknesses, it'll hurt my feelings 🤣
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I like it! Adds a bit of flavor imo! But to each their own, y'know?
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter! I've only ever written for HP, Marvel (of which a few still exist online), and Stormlight Archive (of which none still exist online). Weird I never wrote for Supernatural, considering how mega into that fandom I was for a while...
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Hands down Contempt. I'm still the proudest of that fic. I'm starting to think The Curse of Anteros is better, but Contempt will always have my heart.
I really poured my whole heart and soul into that work. And I still get way too emotional talking about it or thinking about it! And it still blows me away how many people have loved it. I really wanna relisten to the podfic @mrviran did of it and just sob through it! 😂 God I really, really love that fic. I truly do not have the words to express just what that story is to me.
Tagging (no pressure): @perverse-idyll, @writcraft, @lizzy0305, @arrisha-ao3, @babygray, @fleetingdesires, @ripeteeth, @loneamaryllis, @wolfpants, @sweet-s0rr0w, @greenmegsnoham, @lqtraintracks, @serenaew, @indigo-scarf, @maesterchill, aaaand anyone else who wants to play!

Fourth Year Anniversary!
Today is my fourth anniversary as a KakaIru creator! Normally, I share a bunch of statistics; but this time, I’d like to reflect on the past year, and some of the things I have planned for the future, instead.
Firstly, I don’t think I have created as much this year as the other years, as a lot has happened irl; and a good chunk of my writing time was taken away because I just got so overwhelmed with life, and I found it hard to think.
It’s sad, because I absolutely love writing, and have so many ideas that I want to get out there; but I just couldn’t manage it as much as I wanted to.
I am proud to say, though, that I managed to write 25 fics, with a total word count of 121 926 words (having calculated that just now, I’m actually impressed I wrote so much – I wasn’t really expecting to reach over 100k!)!
Out of all of the new fics, I think my favourite one is my WIP, Linked (CW: NSFW & some dark chapters), which is the fic I wanted to write to celebrate reaching a milestone of 100 fics on ao3, where I got people to tell me what they wanted me to write.
You guys gave me so many suggestions with characters and tropes that you liked; and I was excited to challenge myself by including all of the tied number one votes, rather than choosing just one/ doing a revote.
Sadly, I haven’t finished it yet, and have only done 19/28 chapters (approx. 45.4k words); but that brings me to my future plans.
I really love the story so far, of Kakashi and Iruka being handcuffed together and having to figure out how to free themselves, as well as everything else I have planned for it; and I am going to pick up on it again, and aim to have it complete before my next anniversary (but hopefully even earlier!).
I also want to finish another WIP I suddenly stopped after 14/23 chapters (approx. 19.8k words), The Rift (CW: Dark), which I started in the first KakaIru Maze Challenge I ran, Into The Ancient World. I had gotten the prompt ‘Afterlife’; and started a story about Kakashi dying, and trying to find his way back home, while Iruka stays by his side at the hospital.
It’s an idea I’ve had since I was a kid, but I could never settle on the characters I wanted, and had never finished any stories at the time, so it was just something I daydreamed about; but I have grown as a writer since then, and want to finally turn the dream into a reality, and share it with everyone!
There is one more main project that I’ll be working on this year, too; but it is massive, and I can’t say when I’ll finish it. It’s like a choose-your-own-adventure, combined with an otome game; and Iruka, who will be the main character, can end up with one of four ships, depending on the choices he makes throughout the story 👀
I have planned it out entirely, and just need to finish writing it out; but with the amount of options I’ve added throughout the fic (over 100, if I remember correctly), there is going to be a lot of writing to do (I’d say at least 80k words), so, as much as I want to finish & share it, I probably won’t be able to do that this year. But it is something I’m very excited about!
Those are the main things I want to focus on, but I will more than likely write other fics when I get inspired, and/or add to some of my series; especially Family Adventures, which is my dad kakairu series featuring Kaito, their genius son, and In A Land Far, Far Away, my Star Wars AU where Kakashi gives refugees Iruka & Naruto the life they deserve ❤️
That’s all for now. Thank you guys for all your support so far! I really appreciate all the kudos, likes, and reblogs; and every single comment I get really puts a smile on my face, and makes my day ❤️💕
I look forward to spending another year with you!

ao3 wrapped [writers edition]
I was tagged by @supermonkeyball 💕and I'll tag... hmm... @kwockwoc if you feel like it? or, yknow, anyone who wants to steal
How many words have you written this year? I am only gonna count my published word count on ao3... 93,134. Excellent in terms of my personal numerology 👀
How many works did you publish this year? 15
What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)? Shattered Pieces Shine... though I'm hesitant to let myself be proud of it when it's still in its infancy haha
What work of yours has the most hits? SPS natch
What work of yours got more feedback than you expected? Double Touch... only one short chapter out and there's 13 comments, wowie 💕 no idea how that happened!
Favorite title you used? I do make myself giggle with Double Touch...
If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most? I don't really use song lyrics much, but I'll give Chungha a shout out for providing the title of SPS lol. The song is otherwise completely irrelevant but that was a nice phrase
Pairing you wrote the most for this year? Nichoji of course 💕
Favorite pairing you wrote for this year? ...Nichoji of course 💕 but i did enjoy exploring other pairings too and plan to do much more in the future
What work was the quickest to write? Several of the Nutvember pieces were written in a short time, but in terms of WPM I feel like Pas de Deux takes the crown. I did not sleep that night... but I did let the spirit of ballerina porn possess me. A similar thing happened with Complicated
What work took you the longest to write? I've definitely spent the most time agonizing over SPS and that will continue over the next several months-year lol
How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year? 3 so far, and many more planned...
What’s your longest work of the year? SPS ✌️ (41,055 words and many more to go)
What’s your shortest work of the year? Complicated 🥪 (1,073 words)
What WIP are you taking into next year with you? SPS, Double Touch, and (unnamed fencing freaky friday fic)
What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag? it's a tie between pining, light bondage, and PWP. wow... what a revelatory question...
Your favorite character to write this year? TBH I had a ton of fun with Carmen Cox and Pamela Coste (my interpretation of Nicholas's and Jesse's moms)
The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year? Dante was a bit tricky, but I'm looking forward to revisiting him 😊
What’s one pairing you want to explore next year? I have a few surprises planned that I don't want to spoil. But for sure planning to tackle Haiden and... Bobby/Dante pls get a decent ship name!
Which work of yours have you reread the most? SPS wins solely by virtue of being an ongoing work that I have to reference. Second place goes to Pas de Deux... due to being written all in one night, in a bout of insomnia, it sometimes feels like someone else wrote it lol
How many kudos in total did you get this year? 279 ❤️
Which work has the most comments? SPS sweep. It has 99. I look forward to someone claiming spot #100 when the next chapter drops
Did you do any collaborative works this year? to quote saav verbatim, "melt it down (you're gonna have to eventually anyway) was a telephone fic with some friends in the Fence discord!"
Did you write any gifts this year? I didn't mark it as a gift but I guess "you make me forget" counts. At least i can say it was born of love and inspiration from starwritess's beautiful Hummingbirds series. I also wrote a little gift ficlet for inagartenforever that may see the light of day one day.
Did you receive any gifts this year? literally today I woke up to one from starwritess. My first gift fic ever ❤️ and it's wonderful
What’s your most common category? M/M... I don't know how we got here (dyke sigh)
What do you listen to while writing? NOTHINGGGG i need absolute silence. This is the main obstacle I face as a writer 😭
Favorite work you wrote this year? SPS is the obvious answer butttt I just really like the little world I've created and I'm so excited to keep expanding it
Favorite line/passage you wrote this year? you're asking me to remember the shit that I've written...? Well a few ppl have said they enjoyed the blowjob scene in SPS ch7 so I'll go with that. I think it was one of the better executed sex scenes?
Biggest surprise while writing this year? the fact that I'm writing at all tbqh. I did not expect to fall so hard for Fence, or to write fic for it, or to explore so many ideas for it. My previous writing habits were... extremely sparse. But this year has really unlocked something in me and I'm so grateful for the Fence community and the new friends I've met through it ❤️

1, 20, 24, 29 for the fic writer ask meme, if you haven't already answered those? 👀
1. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic. a missing scene from canon where two characters talk, walking the thin line between being friends and being something more, but it isn't confirmed either way
20. Describe your perfect writing conditions. I don't have any? (Maybe that's the problem?) I need to really love the idea. When I do, I usually want it to be written because I like the process of writing and figuring out the details – it also never goes as planned because the characters have their own ideas. A lot of my fics start with - A visits B, they talk, they kiss. The kiss almost never happens :D
I usually write without music, but I don't have a place; I can write on a couch in the living room, on my bed, at the kitchen table, it doesn't really matter.
24. Have you ever deleted one of your published fics? I have. I wasn't feeling 100% about that fic, but I posted it, and I feel like I misunderstood the very first commenter who didn't say they enjoyed the fic, they just left a comment about something in the fic, and it made me feel bad, so I deleted the fic.
It was a part of something longer that at the time wasn't completely finished, and even before publishing it when I was discussing it on discord someone said something that made me really lose my drive for the fic (and that was why I only published a part of it, why I wasn't feeling 100%). After several months I went back to the fic, finished it, posted it, and it has more than 100 kudos now~
29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose? I guess I'll stay with TOS and mckirk, but there's this one old (well, old, it's early 2000s, like 2004, I think) mirror 'verse Kirk/McCoy fic called The Getting or the Having and its sequel Dust, which isn't finished, and I think it could be fun to write a fic set in this 'verse.
It's set after Mirror, Mirror where mirror!Kirk learned that prime mckirk were in a relationship, and when he returned back, he started to pursue McCoy - but it isn't a dark fic, nor is it written in a way modern MU tends to get written, so it's really great, and McCoy has agency and Kirk sees him as almost equal so it's just something I really like when it comes to MU fics.
Funnily enough, when I was watching Master and Commander months ago, I was like "Kirk giving McCoy species to study" (since Aubrey&Maturin reminded me of Kirk&McCoy a lot) and this fic has something similar to it, so it just hits all the right notes for me.
Thank you! <3

Fic writer interview!!!!!!
~editing some bits by adding info!~
Since @irishseeeker tagged me (cheers for that! 💖), and it's the first time I've been mentioned to participate in this kind of questionnaire, here are my answers! 🤗
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 12 (I thought there were less of them lol)!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
95,374
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
They're two: Bridgerton and Anne with an E/Anne of Green Gables.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Right Path (Bridgerton)
Still... (Anne with an E)
A spoon full of... what on earth is this?! (Anne with an E)
Blue-eyed Girl (Anne with an E)
And, what do I get in return? (Bridgerton)
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Sure thing I do! However, it's true that I rarely reply instantly, as I never access Ao3 on my phone with my account (from where I always read all the fics) because I always forget the password and I almost never access Ao3 from my computer unless it's to post a story.
But yes, I always reply to comments. Just like authors (lol me an author!) like to spend our time writing, readers who spend their time reading what we write are more than deserving of our response to what they tell us.
Needless to say how my heart grows a little bit bigger with every comment and kudo from readers. Seriously, without the readers we would be nothing! They are simply the best. 💖
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I hate (seriously, I HATE) angst and that's why I never write angsty endings. Real life is already angsty enough to end a fic like that (that's my opinion, you may disagree, of course!)... However, I do write angsty scenes because I want to reflect that life is not always rosy.
Anyways, I'm currently writing a fic in which angst is assured in most of the plot! 👀
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven’t, and I don't think I'll do it! But never say never!
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Luckily, I haven't received anything! And, taking advantage of this questionnaire, please, PLEASE! If you don't like a fic for whatever reason, don't send hate or unkind messages to the authors because the fic wasn't what you expected. Just stop reading, close the browser tab where you are reading the story and forget about it! And if you're feeling like dm-ing the author anyway, constructive and polite criticism is the only acceptable thing to do.
Simple, easy and for the whole family! ✌
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do!!!!! And it's hella funny! I'd say it's quite vanilla-like; I don't really feel comfortable writing about other sexual practices because my only "reference" is p*rn and THAT'S NOT REAL SEX!
Besides, it's heterosexual smut, as an a straight person it's the only sexual orientation which I can write in a way it's 100% genuine. Of course, I love seeing same-sex couples in fics/shows/films and them "talking" (in fics they can't literally talk 😂) about their activities, but I feel that, if I write about it, it wouldn't be right or I'd do justice to these people/characters.
And one last thing: when I write or plan writing smut, I write it in a way that's real; foreplay, laugh, talk about odd things whilst doing it, stopping when they're not into it... I hate when smut in fics is too cliché or is highly based on p*rn.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so, no! And I hope I don't! I need to disable downloads/sharing tabs...
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, I don't think so! In fact, it's me sometimes who translates some big parts of my fics from my mother tongue into English!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, I haven't! But that's about to change... 👀
13. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
That's the big, big, biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig question! 🤣 I have shipped many couples over the years and, if you ask me, I still love them even though I don't follow them anymore! For instance, Finchel from Glee, Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games, Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter, Gilbert and Anne from Anne of the Green Gables...
Right now, I'm a Kate Sharma (or Kate Sheffield if we talk about the books) & Anthony Bridgerton b*tch. Just a quick peep at my profile can assure you of that! And lately I'm obsessed too with Jily (Harry Potter's parents, for those who don't know lol).
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Sharma's Indian Cuisine. From tradition to your mouth series. I'm stuck on a crucial part in Part 2 and I'm unable to dedicate time to writing lately with all that is coming up in my life. I'll finish it, surely, but not as soon as I wanted.
15. What are your writing strengths?
I seriously have noooooooooooooo idea! I'd say it's the plots. I know they're nothing new under the sun, but they are the kind of stories, but I know they're the kind of stories that don't resemble what we're "tired/bored" of reading (it's not exactly tired or bored the right words, but we all know that plots, as much as we like them, can sometimes make us feel that way!). I don't know how to express this right; please, don't misunderstand it!!!!!
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Same as above. I have no idea, because I'd say all involved in writing! Perhaps, to put into words everything I want to express with my story: the scenery, settings, moods, sometimes the dialogues, concentration/creativeness for developing the plot further... And English. Although I'm fluent in English, I don't always express myself well in the language, and that's reflected in the story.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Planning on doing it in Part 3 of my series! I'm not *fully* fluent in the language I'm planning to write, but I'll be open to corrections if I messed it up heavily once I publish it!
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Anne with an E. I love Anne and Gilbert dearly, and I want to write again about them... But concentration and creativeness are b*tches and I'm laking of ideas. 🤣
I know it's not related to the question, but I'd also like to write about James Potter and Lily Evans/Potter some time!
19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
I'd say And... What do I get in return?, Of Rain and Storms series and Bitter Sweet Symphony. I know the question asked for only one, but these three have a special place in my heart.
Feel free to do it yourself! Not tagging anyone! 😅🤗
