touched up some daisy, daisy fanart i made at least a year ago but never got to post

Hello Arcadekitten!!! I read the Stellamb wedding post(s) and it got me wondering about how Stella’s wedding dress would look like… I absolutely love Sweet No Death, so I knew I had to make some artwork of it!! And, because I absolutely suck at explaining things through text, here is my interpretation of Stella’s wedding outfit in traditional art! ✨💫🌟

I don’t know if you’re okay with people sending fanarts and stuff to you, but I absolutely love your work and well, I’m quite proud of this piece (even if I probably shouldn’t be lol) as I worked extremely hard on this and wanted to share it with you! I hope that’s okay ❤️

A little artist “#Deep Dive tm” because I put WAY too much effort into the tiniest details and I am NOT gonna let them get overlooked 😤 /jk

-Stella’s dress is made with her signature colors rather than white, because I felt that with her being a Star Witch and all, a species that mostly has extravagantly colorful clothes (in my humble opinion) she felt that just going with plain white on what is possibly the most important day of her life would feel… well, a bit redundant, so she opted for a more ‘colored’ ballgown, with lacy gloves and a pearled veil and all. The local tailor and dressmaker is a bit confused, but Lambchop is definitely not complaining! ;) 💕💓

-(Well, that, and I also felt that the color blended WAY too much with her skin tone and changed it, but that’s my little secret hehe 👀😉)

-In my mind, Stella can make her hair look like it has a small galaxy within it! With actual moving stars and little twinkling lights. ✨💫✨⭐️🌟I think that she usually saves it for special, grandiose occasions, buuut since she’s not the kind of person who would THROW a grand, special occasion, she never unveiled it before her wedding day! (Poor Lambchop’s heart nearly gave out on the spot right then and there! 😭❤️)

-I didn’t add her usual Star hair clip because she already has like… 10 stars in her design already lmao /lh ⭐️

-As you can see, her bouquet’s… cloth? Fabric? I’m not sure what to call it… thing? The stuff that her flowers are wrapped in are Lambchop’s colors! Thought that it would be a neat visual detail… also, I can totally imagine Stella requesting that specific color scheme from the local florist! 💐🌷🌸

-Speaking of flowers… I decided to color in one of the moon daisies a little bit… differently hehe ;) It’s a small reference to the beginning of the game, where we see Stella change the color of the one rebellious moon daisy, from orange to lavender, except this time… she keeps it and uses it in her bouquet! 💖💗

-I like to think that it symbolizes Lambchop versus the rest of the townspeople… and Stella’s way of acknowledging him as a “real person”, at least compared to the others… one who is different, one who is unique… the one that she’s going to marry 💍🩷

-(it’s so absolutely sappy when she tells him so that he just couldn’t resist kissing her right then and there)

-And finally… (this is the last one I promise) I cut out the entire drawing to make it look like a potion bottle, partially because Stella is a witch, and partially because I had this cute lil idea that she stores all of her happiest memories into a magical bottle and takes it out whenever she feels sad, so that she can ‘experience’ it again and feel happier. Of course, with Lambchop by her side, she never really has to use it!💞🩷💗

-And yes, I also made the bottle have Lambchop colors as well 🐏 Just a nice little thing tying em together more visually… ❤️

…And I am SO SORRY for ranting!!! I worked incredibly hard on this piece (traditional art is NOT my strong suit, lol) but I wanted to make something special for one of my favorite games and one of my favorite game devs! So here it is, and I hope that you like it! 🤞❤️😁

Oh my goodness this is BEAUTIFUL!! The artwork itself is just stunning!! You took so much time on it and it really shows, especially with all your attention to detail in it(and I LOVE hearing your explanations for some of the choices you made!! They're just so darling!) Everything about this is stellar and I'm in love with it, thank you so much!! ♡ ♡ ♡

Also I TOTALLY AGREE Stella would not wear white for her wedding!! Color all the way!! ♡

As for Lambchop's outfit...I think I've got it envisioned in my head but I haven't quite drawn anything for it yet! Top hat, definitely. I think his suit isn't black. Probably brown! Bowtie on the neck. His pants are more like shorts and are cut juuuuust above the knee! Still wearing long socks with garters. He looks incredibly dapper--as he should!! It's his wedding!

Hopefully he at least looks good for the photos before he decides to get any mysterious red stains on his outfit. (It's fine. Stella could clean them with the snap of her fingers, but still!)

Define promoting darklina a lot because I can’t seem to recall him doing that outside of liking fanart and an occasional repost of Netflix geeked. And about Ben and jessie letting “people post pictures” it’s ONE picture. The comparison to last season is so stupid I’m sorry. Okie so there are posts from Benny's ig but that’s his job alright. And this does not account for the random fan edits and reports ye mentioned cuz no one keeps track of that. BUT PRIMARLY the darklina promo we mention was Benny doing liking sprees in their circles whenever fans were mad cuz 11:11 turned out to be bulianne love anthem, and he had the stupid EP to promote. Go look through his twitter likes from september/october lol ALSO darklinas keep documenting Benny’s likes on all darklina related posts, most of them untagged btw, and he was not sleeping in Toronto at all x.x like it’s more common that the exact period but that was when ye could see it way too much

About letting peeps post photos. Actually it's three pics just now. They noticed the ugly coat of his in different photo from that night and we also got the daisy whatsherface table photo. And again this does not account the random stalkie stalkie pics from earlier in January or the con lol

As I said, there were some photos from set (I don’t count the promo pictures, these were done in/out of costumes but for the press purposes), others are  candids as ye call them but clearly ye can tell they are NOT in the majority here (do i have to add /s or it’s obvious?) - October ‘19, “candid” by Jessie also in October, dunno how to call this shite, here, here, here, here, here, here, and the previous cast dinner! And my honest question to ye is - why would ye say comparison between now and then is stupid? And why ye say no one thought they were dating back then?

Like the whole point is that the Bessie shit is so strong right now because peeps were waiting for it, brewing and believing for a long time? And it’s all based off the circumstances from the first season and then cross Atlantic promo? If no one thought they were together back then, then why all the fantabulous and detailed insights of fans come from for MONTHS if not almost two years now? From the two pics we got since January whenever?

There is like zero proof they seen each other in person since wrapping the show (early 2020) up till fall 2021. There is actually more against it lol And boy was also with someone at the time. So it makes zero sense to say that S1 happenings matter not

How about the investigations into Bessie going far far back? The follows, the sweater bullshit and all the sunshine shite Benny was APPARENTLY planting here and there for his beloved miss sunshine. The dates are old.

How about the EP that apparently is for Jessie and about Jessie, yet Benny made it mostly in 2020? When no one thought they were together?

I keep talking about twin flame cuz she is big part of Benny's everything the past two years and she opened the doors into the real Benny too. 

Soooo Benny WAS in the UK all of August 2021. He made the lil birthday card for fairy queen at the end of July after a whole summer of back and forth bullshit. Then the art piece she made for his birthday that ruffled feathers of even the biggest and most loyal of his fans, Jules also basically claims the EP with her pout and locket but Benny does not care UNTIL his fans realized what kind of bullshit this all is. Then the cries intensified the more of the EP we gotten and the more Jules was claiming it. But ye know, there were no signs of established bessie then, no one thought they are together before this year of our lord 2022, so honestly idk what they were so mad about right? They fucking left him for a while at that point or were like I don't support the EP anymore. Then boy travels to Toronto to do some actual work. Jules is in the US the whole time I think, after months of yachting in Europe. Boy is loyal as fuck still. Then we get the EP interviews and the house of cards start crumbling. There was more in between but it's so so so much detail. The activist was somewhere there too right? Another self inflicted kick in the sack for our boy x.x liking spree followed

Your dates are wrong. The Benny escaped London saga was not in August. It was in October, the week before Halloween. He WENT for the London con over weekend and then back to LA, cuz as we found out recently he was doing the 1883 mag shite just days after and then was recording with scary pockets. We still don’t know the reason behind twin flame’s London pit stop. She went to Qatar right after and she was doing ‘work’ there... 

But yeee we (or I for sure) decided they, it is bulianne, were not together together anymore at that time. I held the bulianne funeral and like less than two weeks later we got the pap pics of twin flame and the energy healing owl guy (sorry, the name I forgotten).

Idk anything about Jessie and the mysterious partner. I've been getting all the info about them from muffins here. Most info comes from stan twitter tho and they always up to something or as we already noticed too many times - they are omitting the truth, believe in what suits them or outright lie. Jessie and the partner is no more is their invention. Pretty sure its exactly how the break-up debate started.... So idk. But that August Benny was probably mostly with his family? There is the Baths trip with papa? Don't remember the whole story but he was not even able to meet with his Narnia folks much like his actual years long friends? And this is weird and I need to check it. But Anna had a bebe some time around/before then right? And he could not meet them or something? And then during the German con boy said he's the bebe godfather? I might imagine stuff now but I just remembered the shite and might also mixt stuff lol don't remember much details anymore ;c 

Soo. Jessie seen her costars over summer and then spend her birthday with other costars, photos shared by others and her as well me thinks. It was couple of days after Benny's right? She posted cute videos of our boy for his big THIS IS 40 but Benny posted the customary happy birthday and darklina photo. Fans were pissed yet again, but ye know no one thought they were ever an item so idk why. Then she was doing some film or doing some other work in between and after. Benny nowhere to be seen.

Yet again, I don't think they seen each other that summer at all.

And going back to the con and the oscar worthy performance, I personally find it highly uncomfortable and feel like so did Jessie. It was Benny who initiated it all, not her. But this is my absolutely subjective opinion. There were also talks as to the con being the first time they seen each other since forever so that's why they were so handsy. Another one for when do the love blossomed? Then boy yet again went back to California. Jessie stayed behind with some other show frens.

Then till December boy is in Cali and Jessie was still doing some film in the UK right? So another time they see each other is the January 2022.

Okie so following from the end of the second message. The covers over 2020/2021 were a mix and the what is what and about who depends on opinions as well. The only sure thing is that all his covers were inspiration for the EP.

Now the covers ye mean are the newish scary pockets/weekday something ones right? So the longer he works with them, more songs we get and lookin at other artists who work with them... I think the song choices for the newest covers are collaboration between Benny and the producer guy of scary pockets but they are mostly the studio choices so they would go well with other artists on the playlists they are making. So I think these covers are for no one in particular, just popular songs.

The sun and moon? It's the one he posted only to his stories? Well that one was baiting on boy's side. The timing, use of the fucking kissy kissy sticker and the whole song lyrics are just too coincidental. And guess what? He was promoting his dream music career just after that, when eyes of hungry for content bessies were on him. Still have no idea why they were so inclined that there might have been something between them? But ye said no one thought about any connections between them before the song, especially back during the first season and the two years gap when they were in no contact... Lost opportunity ngl x.x beautiful story, exceptional writing, THE SYMBOLISM 

Soooo I don't think the forbidden love is the thing. Like cheating is more about two pieces of shit being two pieces of shite. The whole Songs For You schtick is that he lost the girl right? To quote misquote Nadia - what were ye expecting from relationship that started with extramarital infidelity..... Like clearly he tried (see the pap walks, the lil callbacks), he tested the waters, was good loyal puppy and well... It did not turn out as expected, part of it was because Jules is just herself and Benny was always playing good boy. Some of it came from his precious fans who were mad it's Jules and not someone else. Which is weird cuz back in 2020 and 2021, as ye said yourself, no one thought that something was happening between Benny and certain someone else. Cuz except fan made scenarios based on them being together during season 1, there was nothing new on Bessie front for two years. All else was the dreadful in constumes photos and zoom interviews lol

Annnnd twin flames?? Well no one gave them any chances ever. Benny is not what she was lookin for clearly. They tried but boy's immaculate image, fans praises and obsessive privacy were more important. As the celebrity ways were more important to Jules.

Rise up started as a poem for fren that Benny then turned into a song. Here comes the sun and sunset lovers? It's bulianne summer thing hun. 11:11 title has almost nothing to do with the song itself, it's also claptrap boy does not believe in (his own words btw) and it happened to be one of Jules favorite things in the world.

And I'm gonna do ye a solid and repeat what I typed above. Ye know what the EP is about? Heartbreak! Like ye don't even have to listen to the lyrics, have ye seen the videos? The story is that he ain't getting the girl in the end and that's why he's so sad :c

But if the EP is about Jessie? It ain't mathing again. Also the timing. Boy wrote the songs in his lil diary mostly in 2020, the second half. And we know, from yer message, that nothing happened during S1 production. Then he recorded in early 2021 cuz by May he was sharing that he's ready to drop the music any day but no label wants him. So he wrote, produced and recorded the music at the heights of bulianne time and not right before she got the new man. During their weird things in late 2020, some reconciliations, the whole Montana ordeal and that possible first break up in march 2021. That’s when he created it all, not two weeks before he released the songs for god’s sake x.x 

Like their whole relationship was weird as fuck but what can ye expect when it MIGHT HAVE started with a fucking affair... OH!!!!! I might be misunderstanding ye here but who the fuck calls an affair with married friend a fucking forbidden love narrative? Me thinks the lines between reality and fan fictions are blurring big times right in front of me eyes x.x 

No one here provides interesting opinions, well what are the interesting opinions? the bessie kind? By some miracle a new answer to every question ye asked? Well we already been through each of the answers I gave ye, long time ago, many different viewpoints too and we even returned to some of these when we were bored or some lil news suddenly appeared. The are all old news or very old news.

Do You Outline? Sort of? Like Kagetsukai, I used to be a pantser, until I realised that style didn’t work for me with longfics. Sometimes I pants my way through the odd scene, just writing whatever grabs me (I almost never write from the start of a fic, I usually write something from the middle first), but after I’ve pantsed my way through a few related scenes I sketch out a very rough outline of the fic’s plot and a bullet-pointed list of things I want to happen / plot points to include. I tend to write up more detailed chapter summaries/plans a few at a time, write those, then go back and plan the next few chapters, and so on. 

One-shots are generally pantsed all the way through, but I approach that like my work articles – I’ve usually already got a good idea in my head of how I want the piece to go before I write it, so I just write it in one draft and post it (I tend to edit as I go along while drafting – a habit I picked up from work).

Coming Soon/Not Yet Started: I am currently 10,100+ words into a modern-day-with magic Carver/Merrill Pornstar AU called “Actually, Love” ! I am very excited about sharing that one with you all (it’s an explicit smutfic, obviously, LOL). I have the beginning and the end down and most of the middle, I just need to finish joining up all the bits in the middle! 😄

Do You Accept Prompts? Currently no, because I’ve too much on.

What other minor and/or major fandoms are you in? (Or what other shows/series do you keep track of?)

This might be boring to read because there are people who are up to date with manga/anime/tv shows/movies while I’m the opposite xD I’m the type of person who sticks with something they love to the point of obsession for a very long time.

Other than the Naruto one, the last fandom I joined was the MetaMoro fandom (italian singers and beautiful couple), last year. I never shipped real people in my whole life cause I don’t care about real people enough, and cause found it kinda creepy (btw I bet tumblr police has something to say about this as well) but things happen and you can’t control what you like (hi again tumblr morality police), besides, there is no fanservice in Italy for this kind of things, it’s not like idols or kpop bands or US celebrities, so..I didn’t even want to be active in the fandom tbh, but I just happened to write some comments in my tags and then I received asks and suddenly people were interested in my opinion, then in my ideas so they suggested prompts and before I knew it I was posting angsty darkfics lol ( so this is the fandom that steals my time from naruto fic writing)

I’m not in other fandoms, these 2 take too much time already, and most of the anime/shows I like are either quite old or over since a while. I don’t know most of the shows people talk about, and when I stumble on their gifs/images I just don’t feel interested.

I am a Game of Thrones fan, I sometimes wrote a few comments on episodes and with my personal blog I follow GoT blogs with gifs and edits, but I don’t read fics and I never read fan theories though.

Before Naruto my favourite manga/anime were Gensoumaden Saiyuki (I wasn’t into it anymore but they published the Gaiden prequel volumes in my country and I almost cried reading the end for how beautiful and sad it was) and most of it all Bleach…I loved it so much, I read fics, searched for doujinshi and fanarts, saved screenshots. It was in my heart for years, and it still is even though I didn’t follow it that much, so when it ended I wasn’t as angry as for Naruto, for example. But I periodically think (more like obsess) about it again, when I stumble on stuff online. And I do periodically think, more like, replay, the scenarios I would think about, my ‘bedtime stories’ lol, as back then I didn’t even consider writing a fic.

I recently read the Psycho Pass manga for the first time, as I had watched the anime already. Then I rewatched the anime and I liked it even more than the first time, so much that I obsessively sought fanarts and fics, too bad that my fave ship is popular only in the reverse top/bottom dynamic compared to the one I like

I’m deeply into Noragami which is the latest manga I’ve been reading, I want to watch the anime but I haven’t yet. Also I haven’t looked for fanarts/fics, even though I really love Yato, and I am very intrigued by the angsty parts like when he cried getting to know his shinki’s past, or when he’s stung and blighted when his shinki has bad thoughts &co. Or the way his father manipulated him, or when he was bitten by Hiyori gone ayakashi…This kind of things is my kind of things, so I’m all in for the dark side of it, but I’m afraid I’m a minority so I don’t even bother looking for stuff. (maybe this was better in the other ask about crack ships lol)

Also because I often drop shows/anime when I disagree with the plot, and especially with tv series this happens a lot cause they keep them going on and on season after season and annoying shit happens, like, I was a fan of The 100 (and I shipped Claire/Lexa and Lincoln/Octavia) but after Lexa died and there was the season finale/cliffhanger for the next one I stopped watching cause I disliked it. Or Vikings but same, I didn’t like it anymore after the first series, it’s like certain stories go out of hand and become ‘too big’ and I can’t put up with that kind of absurdity. And I have an open mind, my favourite stories are those that question reality, so my concept of absurdity is related to unbelievable because it’s badly written imo. Same for Mr Robot, I watched it all but I didn’t like certain things and I’m afraid I’m gonna hate the next season. Or Sense 8, but that was canceled and I even managed to quit it before the forced ending lol. I’m a huge fan of Star Trek The Next Generation and BattleStar Galactica, I bingewatched the latter on a summer, like when I bingewatched LOST with my ex, who was addicted on series more than I. He was an ass*ole but he made me watch good stuff lol. Like cute Pushing Daisies. Older series are more interesting imo. It’s like the popular ones are like videogames, each season with a bigger ‘aim’, while others are canceled without even trying to continue and see if people get to like them. Some stories grow on people more slowly, but they don’t get it. The latest show I tried to watch was American Gods, its concept seemed interesting and I like the many different cultures and mythologies it refers to, but I found certain things disturbing/triggering so I stopped.

I also liked Death Note but for the story more than the characters. I was reading Tomodachi Game cause it’s quite similar for certain things but I have to catch up. Oh and I never finished Nabari No Ou, even though I liked it. Why didn’t I finish? I forgot. Same for Gintama. Like pretty much anyone else I read manga with an app and I watch anime/shows on my laptop and I decided to read more paper books instead, and use devices less, so I follow my favourite musicians/bands, and ofc my 2 fandoms and mostly I write my fics. Or, well, I try to.

wait ok maybe a bad time to start this at 1:30am (<- started this post last night lmao) but i’ve been thinking so much (for a long time but this week i think maybe prompted by jonny saying stuff in the s5 q&a part 3 about fanon character designs getting more homogenous as the fandom gets bigger its really been on my mind again) about my thoughts on the magnus archives character design stuff

like i already said on that other post character design stuff is full of so much under the surface both really silly and almost nonsensical (like ‘oh this character just feels like they have a lot of triangles incorporated into their design’ or the slightly more connected to reality arbitrary ideas people have about what type of character might wear glasses) and stuff thats incredibly loaded and very much connected to real life systems of oppression. so its like. idk. i like drawing people and fashion and harmonizing shapes and the idea of coming up with people who dont exist through abstracted drawings that somehow click and that can feel cohesive even with different angles/expressions/poses/etc is really fun to me conceptually but Character Design(tm) as a thing even outside of established tropes and schools of it that really lean into elements that can uphold gross shit as shorthand just inevitably theres so much to consider in the implications of making a person (visually) and ascribing traits to them (or i guess in this case largely the opposite)

so thats not something id call fun its just important and inevitably a big factor if i’m going to put any of this to words and can only hope i do so non-clumsily when i wanna talk about this on the whole just bc i find the process of how fanon designs get homogenized interesting (and the purpose of it understandable and maybe a bit inevitable in certain contexts) but also regardless of any actual potential problematic implications in any of that just bc i like the creative process of coming up with character designs i like trying to see when it comes to practicing that through applying it to characters in non-visual media i care about how i can break my guides for what they could look like down to their bare essentials between canon description, things i vibe with personally, etc so that if i have all that written down for myself it can be a good starting place for just experimenting with designs (i dont have any desire to settle on any one design for these characters but its just good general practice for this stuff) and maybe pushing a bit against some things that seem to be generally defaulted to mix things up or w/e. so yeah i’ve just wanted to write all this out for myself for a while, so after that long fucking intro fdkgh here goes!

jon!!!

ok so canonically hes born about 1987 and is like roughly 28-31 throughout the series but looks older to the point where he straight up lies and says hes a decade older at one point, he has graying hair, has been described as looking like he hasnt slept in weeks

(this bullet point contains spoilers up to early s4) depending on what part of canon youre describing him in he canonically has scars from worms probably all over his body (post ep 39), a burn scar on his hand (probably right and probably roughly shaped like a handprint) (post ep 89), actually i’m checking on the wiki now and it specifically says melanie stabbed him in the shoulder? but rereading the transcript and another couple parts that i thought potentially could mention it i dont believe it ever actually specifies (maybe the person who wrote that is conflating how both melanie and daisy’s first injuries from the slaughter are on their shoulders? so even if not canon good guess i guess that his scar from thats on his shoulder) (post ep 125) plus also probably on his throat from daisy (post ep 91), somewhere from michael stabbing him (post ep 47), and who knows maybe even something from mike crew (probably not it was just the height part of things not a lightning strike but i saw fanart of him getting a lichtenberg figure scar once from that which was interesting) (post ep 91)

has been described as ‘scrawny’ and ‘little’ which may just be more of a insult but because of that i support manlet jon lol. also because of that tend to think of him as skinny and not very muscular but i’m def not opposed to him being fat i think its really fun when i do see interpretations of him as such esp in juxtaposition with martin its nice having stuff sometimes where its two fat characters in a relationship. but if i’m leaning on every little word to narrow down character design i’d say hes most likely thin and probably short too.

getting into stuff with no real canon basis, i am a fan of him having long hair like a lot of fanon has him with. its a very tangential justification because i know its more the specific events surrounding this this was describing but when he was described as a “grubby jesus” that helped lol

but! my jon hair opinion that seems to differ from fanon is that i think maybe itd make sense with him being described as looking older and stuff to give him a bit of a receding hairline

not sure about glasses either way i think it just comes down to the specific design whether it looks good or not. there is something conceptually funny to me about giving an avatar of the eye glasses and debating whether that “makes sense” or not lol. one time i saw someones design where he stopped needing to wear glasses later on and i thought that was kinda fun

i don’t really care for like. idk. glowing green eyed jon or multiple eyes or w/e. like i get it. idk probably somethings happening when hes doing like the ceaseless watcher thing or like that one scene where he forced a statement out of that person who described him as “all eyes” like the phrase but maybe not just that as a phrase. so that plus the cover art of the show being green and making people probably theme stuff on that color i guess i cant blame people for doing that but idk just like. it feels kinda just Blah and not that novel to see a lot of the time and a bit too tropey or w/e for my personal taste unless people mix it up a bit. so i tend to prefer him just looking like some guy even later on usually. also with just like brown eyes or w/e

okay so this next part is for both jon and martin because i cant fit this into either of their sections because i feel like i cant adequately talk about this without doing it in juxtaposition to one another

this post summarizes basically anything i’m reiterating here far better but basically by nature of this being a podcast written by a white person for whom most of the first characters voiced (who included most of the most frequently appearing characters outside of those described by others because they were reoccurring avatars or w/e long before voice appearances) were from a small pool of people at a majority white company and their family members, even if that wasnt “intentional” of course that pattern happens so much and more productions should be conscious of that from the get go and reach outside their immediate circles to cast more actors of color from the start of their productions if they have the resources to properly compensate them. so basically from there theres no real totally satisfying solution for portraying “aracial” characters acted and written by white people’s race, because the situation just isn’t ideal in the first place

so like, with that in mind, i know its a bit of a mixed bag with jon in fanon being pretty consistently either ambiguously a person of color or specifically south asian, because i know people of color who were excited from fanon going in for him to be a person of color only to realize hes written and voiced by a white guy and has no canon race (which might just somewhat default to him being written as white since theres no active thought to how him being a person of color, let alone any specific race or ethnicity, might affect anything), but then on the other hand, characters with no race given being defaulted to being portrayed as white is absolutely another common issue in fandoms of things like books and podcasts. so personally because of that i would feel weird portraying him as white in my own designs in contrast with how consistently hes depicted as a person of color, but i would be interested in potentially depicting him as other races beyond the default fanon of him being south asian too (although theres def stuff to consider there that doesnt prevent any interpretation but just is there regardless like his dynamic with daisy in like s4)

and then this post expresses things better than i could ever rehash, but because of the stuff outlined in there in my own attempts at character designs i try to avoid making martin white because of the juxtaposition between that and making jon a person of color in their dynamic. not as pertinent and not something i’ve taken in from any fan of color saying it so i’m definitely not dictating this just talking out my thought process, but by extension of this i’ve also tried to consider how colorism in juxtaposition between them might make it sit better to have martin have darker skin than jon. this does get a bit weird though when balancing how martin has a couple really goofy lines implying ignorance about police abusing their power (i guess charitable interpretations could be that hes plenty aware but nonetheless vocalizing shock in the moment of it actually happening in front of him), so even if as one of the few characters i’ve posted designs of before i drew him as black, when i remembered those lines i guess its just an issue of an “aracial” character being defaulted to being written as if hes white, so even if he certainly could still be black (or any race besides white who might not have the luxury of ignorance about police brutality) it just makes clear that by him being written the way he was nothings ideal because theres not necessarily much depth that can be taken from canon to make certain depictions of him as satisfying or well fleshed out as they could be. oh also so inconsequential to the rest of this and i dont care about this at all beyond just latching onto any scrap to base things off of but the fact that martin maybe knows at least some polish i feel like thats not a language most people just know from school (esp as someone who didnt go to college) or w/e so maybe his mom is polish so probably hes part white at least to wildly extrapolate from there? idrc tho its just one more thing to note on the subject depictions of jon and martins races

canonically has a scar on her shoulder (as of late 2016), probably on her leg too (if not by early 2017 then by early 2018/ep 125), and is described as skinny

(spoilers for late s4) (also eye trauma mention) post ep 155 she’s blind but trying to research what exactly she might look like like would the results of the damage she does with the awl after going to the hospital would her eyes need to be eviscerated vs enucleated? idk. thinking about lydia saying in a s3 extra in retrospect talking about this where shes like ‘it wouldn’t work like that with [an awl]!’ bc . lol yeah idk. or like would she have scarring on her eyelids or anything, would she have glass eyes, would she feel a need to wear sunglasses to protect her eyes or as a visual cue that shes blind (bc idt shed be the type to just wear it to hide her eyes) or not, etc. i’m not sure! one thing i do know for sure though thats a pet peeve in art is that people make her cane have a red stripe on it when it the UK especially a red striped white cane is for deafblind people, so her cane is most likely just plain white (also theres different styles of white canes but from researching i think shed probably make use of a long cane imo)

my biggest non-canon appearance thought about her is just. melanie king butch 💗

i do think its fun when characters get drawn with unnaturally colored dyed hair for no real reason and do think people should have fun with that more but simultaneously the contrarian in me gets annoyed with how common blue grown out roots straight hair bob melanie is. like the fun of the novelty of being ‘fuck it dying this characters hair’ gets sucked out of it from it being so consistent in fanon. also while she def could be a long haired butch or w/e regardless i just wish fanon of her was way more masc for my own self indulgent reasons

i think the only canonical appearance description is the implication that shes not thin by jared when describing her, melanie, and martin, distinguishing melanie as “the skinny one”

hussain specifically as a surname spelled that way while i’m def no expert, from people i know personally and looking online too seems to be most common specifically with pakistani, indian, and bangladeshi muslims so it makes the most sense to have her be depicted as south asian. considering her VA, her being part black could make sense too but also i feel like its kinda a Thing in a lot of media where they’ll barely have black characters but when they do they’ll make them cops so like idk that’d def require more thought to it.

definitely not on authority on this of course this is just me talking through my own thoughts but i feel like maybe the common fanon of her being a hijabi feels a bit just like . theres not much thought behind it for a lot of people doing it? like it feels like ‘she has a muslim name’ -> ‘she’s muslim’ -> ‘she wears a hijab’ and not much else. like theres just like a whole lot that would need to be unpacked with any main character being religious in this series and actually specifically iirc theres a part in season 5 or something where her and jon reflect on the implications of all this on human religion? and both seem a bit agnostic in their approach. and of course theres people who wear hijabs who arent particularly religious (just like obviously vice versa) but for adults in places that arent majority muslim i feel like a main motivator for that would be connection with ones wider community? but basically all of the main characters in this story like necessarily with the themes and how all this was able to happen to them they feel pretty atomized from any real community (she specifically is paralleled with martin in how she latches onto daisy) none of this is at all to say she couldn’t be practicing islam and/or a hijabi but just that if thats how people want to depict her i think it deserves more thought than just drawing her as such (like for one example of how people have done cool things with making characters muslim i appreciate this artists comics about muslim jon (1, 2, 3)) but yeah! idk just something i’ve been thinking about but very much is not something i can act like an authority on of course. because being a hijabi is something stigmatized i do nonetheless feel slightly weird if i were to go against that fanon but idk

i think this was the first art i ever saw of her like right around the week or so i started listening to the show that was posted and a mutual reblogged it so i think from basically the start thats how i pictured her essentially. but the main parts of ‘long dark hair, glasses’ i internalized from that are so close to just canon so maybe not saying much

uhh beyond that idk.. not really set on this at all but i feel like maybe he dresses like. business goth lol. like idk. well put together casual clothes like nice quality short sleeve button ups and chinos or nice cuffed jeans but maybe darker colors and a bit of a vaguely edgy but not tacky flair (like fucking idk. raven pattern button up or something lol)

i saw some art of him once where he had long locs and also just idk he was like doing that ominous floaty thing which included his hair and that had a nice rhythm in the art together with the black tendrils in the background so i could appreciate him having long locs/braids/twists or something. but def not set on that and ofc theres like a lot of years to depict him between he could have various hair styles

I did this last here (here it is) and it was fun, so I did it again.  I’m not gonna tag anyone, but you should do it, too!

1. “...why would I care?” (Jon/Lin) This was a test the waters fic-  at the time there were less than 30 fics on AO3 for this obviously wonderful pairing, so the community was still pretty tiny.  I got butt hurt about the way they demanded my compliance on an intentional publishing choice, so even though I really like this pairing, I’m never gonna publish in it again. (I don’t know if that’s a blessing or a curse for the fandom- probably doesn’t make much of a difference at all)  Cute fic though.  I stand by the fact that it’s adorable. (2,167 words)

2. A Captain meets a Pilot (Chris Pine/Oscar Isaac)  Pictures of Chris Pine and Oscar Isaac at D23 together surfaced.   I will (and do) ship Chris Pine with anything, so this just seemed like a no brainer. (1,461 words)

3. A Study in Backlit Light (Pinto) Zach lives in New York and instagrammed a picture of him looking lonely at the same time that Chris was in NYC.  Why not? (448 words)

I have a type (Richlee and Rich/Lee/Raul Esparza) Raul Esparza looks a little like Richard Armitage.  And Lee and he were on Pushing Daisies together.  Then he and Richard were on Hannibal together.  It really makes perfect sense to me, Bryan Fuller was obviously creating a situation for Lee (and my) dreams to come true (6,221 words)

Overall Thoughts: Well, I’ve drastically reduced my word count for this year. But I also seem to have stopped writing at the same time that I’d gone prolific in 2015.  And we all know what a terrible year this was.  I’m going to try not to beat myself up for the word count.  If I’m counting this right, I wrote for 11 different fandoms and a lot more pairings, compared to 7 fandoms last year. And I did do a little original fic- though definitely not enough finished!  I even managed to write a little poetry (which is always a yay-but-ugh sort of feeling) So I’m maybe not doing as much, but I’m stretching myself in some new ways, and that’s always nice.

Personal Best Story: Princess, Prisoner, Priceless.  It’s almost an original fic.  I’m getting there.  Plus, it was a lot of fun to research.  I’m sad that it’s not going to go anywhere, and there’s not much of a fandom to find it, but I still think it was pretty well done- and there was straight (ish- I’m not gonna claim Zeus is straight because that fucker is the most pansexual deity in existence) sex, which I’m always worried about getting wrong.

Personal Favorite Story: Traveling Soldier I just really, really loved this whole idea.  I don’t know why I wanted to write it- We were doing a challenge for Richard’s birthday and it was a lot of fun in that respect, but I have no idea what drove me to write about Army doctors and their teen-aged boyfriends.

Most Underappreciated Story: Cracked Love This is a story about a VCR and a VHS Tape.  I can’t actually expect anyone to find that, can I?  Do people even know what those are anymore? I’m not as tore up this year about not getting any attention.  Hopefully, that means I’m growing up a little, lol.

Most Popular Story: So, Apparently it’s Knights of Desire (?) Which I guess makes sense, most of my pairings are so much more random and rare, where as Merthur is much more popular ship.  Yay for that- though I’m sure my story gets lost in the mix of everyone else’s, comparatively.  There’s a lot of good stuff out there for them.

Story with the Sexiest Moment: I feel like I wrote a lot of smut this year, but apparently none of it published (yet)  There’s some car stuff that happens in Exactly the Right Mistake that really worked on me.

Most “Holy Crap That’s Wrong Even for Me” Moment: I wrote about a fork and a toaster falling in love.  I don’t know how I’m ever gonna beat that.

Story That Shifted My Perceptions of a Character: How Peter Got his Groove Back is really just a character study between Peter and Erik, and I really enjoyed allowing myself to do that with those two.

Most Fun to Write: Cracked Love. Definitely.  I mean, once you just throw your inhibitions and your sanity to the winds and just start writing to see if you can, you’d be amazed at what can happen.  It’s fucking fantastic.

Hardest Story to Write: “...why would I care?”  It’s not that the story was so hard to write- Jon and Lin fic basically write itself.  It was the reaction I got to the fact that I had left it unlocked. This year not as much, but my primary interest is and always has been writing RPF.  And I almost always keep it unlocked for a very specific reason- people are nervous about RPF, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to read it.  So I want to make sure that anyone who doesn’t have an account and still wants to read about anyone I happen to write can still get to it.  It’s never been a problem in the other two fandoms that I’ve been in- Pinto and RichLee.  Some people might lock their work, but no one has ever come onto one of my stories and demanded that I change mine, and here I was within days of posting in this very tiny community, getting told by numerous people that I HAD to lock it, and that I was being over dramatic- not by making a big fuss over it (which I hadn’t even gotten a chance to do) but by not automatically locking the work.  The irony, of course, of a fandom getting nervous about RPF about LIN MANUEL MIRANDA, whose current success is 100% DUE to his SONG FIC RPF, and who has literally posted VIDEO of him doing the exact same thing as the “naughtiest” thing I wrote them doing (kissing, I wrote Jon and Lin kissing and apparently that needed to be hidden, lest either of them find it) is not lost on me. I know it’s been almost a year, and I should totally be over this, but I’m not.  Because it reminds me how hypocritical people can be about RPF, which is just plain stupid.

Favorite OC: Elpis from Princess, Prisoner, Priceless. I’m not really much for original characters in fic (I say that, but I honestly have no clue if my stats back that up) but Elpis is super cute and I love her.

Biggest Surprise: Honestly? Finding out that  Knights of Desire  was my most popular story right now just surprised me.  I didn’t expect that at all!

Most Unintentionally Personal Story: Well, this doesn’t count as “unintentional” because it was for the “Take Your Fandom to Work” Challenge, but Exactly the Right Mistake put Lee in a very similar situation to mine- alcoholic non-profit office drone with not a lot of prospects.  And while HE gets to go off with amazing billionaire Richard, I’m still stuck here for the rest of my life.  Kinda a downer, really.  Still, a lot of fun to write.

Lines/Scenes I’d Like to Change: I dunno.  I tend not to go back with fic.  Just forward and hopefully upwards in terms of writing.  But who really knows?  I’d like to go further with some stories.  There’s a whole second half to Exactly the Right Mistake that I’ll never write. And I’d love to do a whole series of sexy myths a la Princess, Prisoner, Priceless but time wise, I just don’t know that I’ll ever have it in me.

RichLee Divers AU I opened this up a few times, the ideas are still solid, but I don’t know if I’ll ever sit down and do anything other than fiddle with my outline.

Jon/Lin Fics (They practically fic themselves) Did one.  Never again.

Hamilton Fic I still kinda want to, but I’m not sure now if I feel comfortable.

Star Wars TFA Fic (Poe/Finn/Rey)  UGHHHH!  I am so mad I missed this.  I didn’t know I was going to get obsessed with X-men, that’s what really fucked me over!!!

I dunno, tie up all the rest of the shit I’ve been working on  God, I got barely anywhere with this.

And maybe one or two of the screenplays stuck in my notes folders?  It would be amazing to complete a screenplay this year.

I’m still really into Peter Maximoff, too.  I’d love to write a real full story about him- though I’d have to stop shipping him with literally everyone first.  (Or maybe not.  Hmmmm….)
