The Power of Communication Media in To Be Hero X

SPOILERS ON TBHX!! This is just a speculation that will be continued or edited while moving forward of the series and it has the word count of ~1500. This is just for funsies, plus I am bored so don’t take anything to heart.

TLDR; Communication, especially Journalism, holds a lot in the world of TBHX, especially a lot of power because they’re the ones giving the information and news. However, they still can be manipulated by big companies and word of mouth by the people in such extremes.

Journalism is a medium that has been around in the centuries, it’s a medium to tell the events that happened on the day. It’s a way to give out the truth, keep the public knowledgeable on the events, or speak out. Many journalists have a code to be neutral, portray each news in a perspective of an unbiased manner rather than the one they have an opinion of. Though there are many categories of journalism, such as column and opinionated writing, that focuses on the journalist’s perspective instead. There’s many outlets of journalism: newspapers, magazines, TV and radio, Internet, news agencies, and the alternative media.

Journalism helps us shape our perspectives in multiple ways, especially on belief. Belief is a powerful tool that our world benefits from. An example are religions, if you keep an idea long enough of a higher being up there, it can result in billions of people believing in that concept for a millenia that affects more ways than the believers but a state as well. What more if the world was shaped by an actual belief system where it becomes real?

In the world of To Be Hero X (TBHX), that is apparent. Though it’s called Trust Value and Fear Value, we know that the world is shaped through belief itself. The stronger the belief is (Trust or Fear), the stronger the individual is with that belief, it’s basically a power up. That belief however is only held by the fans of the Hero, we see this with Episode 4 where Lin Ling or Nice’s fans didn’t want him to leave the Hero Tower.

Through the timeline, we know that it has been 41 years in Lin Ling's arc (while in E-Soul it has been 36 years) since the Commission was created, with the concept of heroes being created by the trust value was only 5 years before the commission started. It’s not a surprise on why there would be a Commission of sorts by keeping everyone in check.

In the trailers, one of the CEOs spoke on how superheroes should be monitored or be placed in strict management is backed up by how they want the system managed. I don’t want to get deeply political with just the implications of what the MG CEO said, “We can’t let heroes grow rampantly on the platform.”

There was always a power dynamic to the CEOs > Heroes > Civilians (Heroes and Civilians can be changed depending on the setting). To them, there’s always a need for ‘balance’ or a class system for the others to stay “down” like the rankings of the heroes. Sure, the ranks are controlled by the civilians and the fans, but who controls the heroes the most are the companies.

It could be pointing to X’s situation where the Commission could possibly feel threatened by the fact that X is a freelancer, it has been 2 years since being the Top hero, and his quote in one of the trailers was “It’s time to tell the truth.” What does that mean technically? It’s almost the same goal as the Enlighter trying to expose Nice, but this feels more global to tell the truth. Is it the truth about the companies? The world?

There’s 4 main hero companies: DOS, Mighty Glory, TREEMAN, and FOMO. When Lin Ling skyrocketed to the top with his identity to the public still being a nobody; each of the CEOs talked about him as if he was a product or a fascinating subject. Miss J specifically has talked about Nice being a ‘valuable product’ especially when Lin Ling is about to expose himself being Nice.

News Outlets Around Each Episode

We see many news outlets in TBHX like the TV broadcasts that seem to show up in Episode 1, Episode 2, and Episode 4. These are Focus News and OBTV that broadcasted the news of the Nice/Lin Ling arc. OBTV is seen in the background most of the time, you might even say that it’s the preferred news outlet, while Focus News is only used in Episode 2 in the first part where we see Wreck watching what had happened to Moon and Nice.

Outside of these news outlets, we know that there are live streams that are created by the hero companies for the fans to give their heroes much higher trust by glazing them through a more biased perspective. We can say that these are operated by the companies’ media outlets like official accounts on social media that will feature a livestream on a script or event such as Episode 2 and Episode 3.

Adding on in the first episode of E-Soul’s arc we find out that there are well known journalists to the point of companies like Mighty Glory being able to hire them in such events for their heroes. While this event is more of an anniversary to E-Soul and an Actor Audition Competition rather than a ‘serious’ one, it’s counted on how companies can hire journalists or buy news outlets for their own gain.

The Corporation’s Control to the Press

In real life, some news outlet companies are owned and run by politicians. These news outlets would lean on a biased perspective to the campaigns of the politicians or lean onto a specific political ideal. Who's to say that in the world of TBHX that happens as well to news outlets becoming owned by hero companies?

It can be beneficial for their heroes and to lose some of the trust value of the other competitors – same company or not. I follow this with the mindset of “Neither of you can be X,” said by Miss J when telling Lin Ling to take the N.10 spot from Firm Man even if he’s Nice’s coworker.

Another thing noticed is that companies have the capability to remove any evidence of a hero’s past or wrongdoing to save reputation. This is in Episode 4 where God’s Eye leaked news of a previous boxer who was playing dirty that was erased by TREEMAN. Of course, these companies have the money to ‘erase’ any controversy said to their workers, especially to heroes. This is similar to Lin Ling’s “fake” suicide post by an account called “Focus” which is a cover up for TREEMAN or to expose the company from the Enligtener.

There’s no mention of any politicians in the world TBHX; becoming a hero or being a hero is relevant which holds a lot of power and influence to civilians. They are celebrities, idols, and even could be political. Why I see it could be political is from Queen; her speech in her PV seems like from a political party to promise to give them peace. Heroes aren’t technically there to be politicians, they’re products and concepts, they are there to serve the people, but Queen’s arc could help show that side.

Could it be DOS’s way to control everything? Isn’t almost everything controlled by the Hero Companies? Plus the CEO’s seem to be all knowing on every event.

The Commentary of the Citizens

The only thing that the CEOs are unable to control are the alternative media that the civilians can create

Alternative Media can be beneficial for unknown heroes by getting them into the spotlight or fighting back from the perpetrators like the livestream of Yang Cheng’s fight in Episode 5. The livestream which literally had given Yang Cheng publicity and trust points shown in Episode 6 Preview. (Credits to steIIarevue on the bird app for the translation)

Word of mouth is an important tool in their world. The whole “The Ever Standing Hero” episode is such a run on how it all works with multiple examples: Wolf Girl’s classmates that affected how Firm Man is a masculine guy, Wolf Girl’s comics that twists Firm Man’s image, and lastly Miss J’s dialogue about Imagination.

“Plant an idea to the hearts of the people, then nurture it. It will grow into a sapling… until it blossoms into a concrete thought.”

Each episode you will see responses by the citizens on what happened from the Love Recipe Show to Moon’s fake death to Nice exceeding Firm Man’s trust value to Lin Ling exposing himself to Little Pomelo’s commentary of Yang Cheng’s act and Yang Cheng, himself, to E-Soul. They’re important because they’re the ones that feed on the idea of the heroes.

These are mostly online in chat rooms or from coworkers and friends. A very important social media app that I see lurking around is the FOMO company, since they're also a hero company would there be limits on what the people post about the heroes in the company? Or any mass threads that could possibly ruin the reputation.

The most word of mouth in the PV’s is from X on how OP he is which is how he gets his powers. In the CN BiliBili app or link, X had a video about live streams that gave commentary as well on who he is.

The whole reason why I made this post is from Miss J’s dialogue, itself. It’s a world that can give you so many possibilities by just communication and belief in what has happened. It’s a scary thing that it’s just the norm for them and that what could be fake news or real news can be indistinguishable. Which is why I believe that in this world, journalists or communication specialists are the ones who have such power.

And other my headcanon dynamics in mo4 worth mentioning:

- The Academy Trio of Koritora, Taiyo and Otsukin. Even if they didn't study and graduated at the same time, i like to think of their dynamic as of old classmates who like to always bicker and lovingly fight/bully each other about their younger days, especially Taiyo and Koritora, the last even have an a nickname of Ikiritora from his early days that pisses him off-

— Zakuro and Bachikin. I have a personal headcanon that Bachikin appreciate yuri manga just the same as Zakuro, just not as obsessively, so they sometimes gather to gush about it and their appreciation of the girls, making their little yuri club (maybe there are also Arakawa-san! And Marikin with Fusa and Jack, just for funsies...). Also Zakuro a bit of little sister vibe here too

— Adukin and Bachikin, enemies to best friends. I like how fandom makes them girlfriends even as a bachisig fan, i appreciate this ship too, but in my case i like to see them as these girly BFFs who gather together and also gush together, and ready to kick ya ass together, having a deep connection with each other due to events of MO3, even if their friendship at the start was bumpy. Also, they definitely can sometimes platonically kiss eachother at the cheek-

— Koritora, Otsukin and Eclair. Geniuses with different levels of madness-

— Jack and Zakuro. Rapper and a singer who makes other's ears bleed

— Sigkin, Adukin, Koritora, Syumi. Tired responsible people/parent united-

- Additional to above. Sigkin, Adukin, Koritora, Syumi, Bachikin, Arakawa and Kashikin as the kitchen squad! Sigkin and Adukin are the main chefs, angirly trying to teach Kashikin how to not poison their food, Koritora makes sure everyone are warmed up with ramen, Bachikin and Syumitaro in charge of sweets, and Arakawa makes sure to butcher every meat and fish and make a great sushi, since she the only one who enjoys gutting people!

— Sigkin, Syumitaro, Arakawa and Taiyo as the bloodthirsty gang!

— Bachikin, Jack, Syumitaro, Fusakin and Marikin as the Tea Party Squad! They like to gather sometimes to enjoy some sweets

— Kashikin, Koritora and Fusakin as the close combat duelists! They train together sometimes

— Marikin and Bachikin. The most lucky person alive and Bachikin with my personal headcanon that at the time of mo2, and maybe still is considered, as the opposite of Marikin, that she is the most unlucky person, yet the one who rejects her fate of endless misfortune, which also made her succumb to Daeru by making a wish to get some luck and success. From there exactly, and due to all the main events of the series, they are so sibling coded, starting as enemies yet then growing a deep friendship and connection.

Dec 9 2022 - her film contract makes headlines

From what I can find, this is the first that anyone knows she is producing a film. There are no details released other than it's a script she wrote and she will be directing the film.

The next we hear is Dec 7, 2023 from the Tennessean --

It's been crickets, essentially. There are no public details I can find about the film anywhere including cast list, release date, content, ETC.

Interestingly, two days ago -- though uncertain of validity of source -

I don't have access to puck so cannot confirm what the article says; but this was recent! So; in theory, she finishes her Eras tour and moves directly in to film.

On Dec 14, 2017 Disney put their first bid out on 21st Century Fox/Fox Searchlight. On March 19, 2019 the companies merged and Disney acquired Fox Searchlight; Fox News notoriously split independently. Disney dropped the name Fox; so now we have just Searchlight Pictures. There is also a Searchlight Pictures TV and shorts production, which for the sake of time I will not get into.

For Funsies, here is a short film (Jun 18 2019, after Disney acquired) produced by them called....LAVENDER. About a gay man who has a relationship with a married gay couple. Can't make it up.

Anyway, since merging with Disney especially, the company seems to be LGBTQ friendly.

And yes, Joe Alwyn has worked with Searchlight, with tweets I found dating back to 2018 with Searchlight UK. Make of that what you would like, I have no real objective commentary on the matter.

Taylor as a Director

She also directed the Long Pond Studio Sessions and Miss Americana.

Most of her directorial work has been since the Lover debut. Most of which is very queer coded/sapphic.. and again, make of that what you will.

Appearances/Pap Walks, ETC

Since her split from JA, we have seen her with multiple friends in the film industry. Among these: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Selena Gomez, Keleigh Teller, Miles Teller, Sophie Turner, Emma Stone...

And dare I say.... Travis Kelce, who seems to want to break his way into the entertainment industry?

(aside from this headline; his failed dating show, his podcast, his multiple PR deals like with ZenWater... etc. I rest my case).

We also know there has been some B roll footage taken at the Chiefs Games.

Additionally, the media coverage of this relationship has been an absolute f*cking circus; with constant headlines of the two and their "engagement" / relationship dynamics. On Taylor's end, we have had constant references to Bejeweled (where she Ghosts); including Keleigh Teller giving her the opal ring.

The Speculation

Yall, this is my opinion - you can agree, disagree, etc; but I have no insider information. Just thoughts.

She makes her film directorial debut with Searchlight - recently acquired by Disney, who is pro-LGBTQ; and is clearly in deep with business deals with them, as seen on Taylor Nation and her Eras Tour Film.

We have rumors of her beginning her film production at the end of the ERAS tour, along with knowledge of her currently with B roll footage from chiefs games. We have multiple highly papp'ed appearances with her + TK; but also with multiple film stars, including Blake Lively (still not over that photo), Sophie Turner (I do think there's altruism here tbh on TS's end), and Keleigh. If you believe Keleigh is her stand in invisible bride.... Holy shit. Between the opal ring shutdown of the media circus as well as her and TS literally taking a page out of TSHOEH and dressing in character...

My ultimate suspicion is that she's using actual experiences of her current life-highly papp'ed - to tell her story. And that Keleigh is her stand in muse in this film.

I also think the @spade-riddles we've been getting about a final act ending, etc, pertain to her film. I don't have evidence aside from speculation.

1. are they associated with a certain color? what color do they wear the most?

I try to color code of my OCs! There isn't any sort of symbolism behind them besides just Vibes™, but Ethedis is green, Tossdir is red, Margim is dark red, and Celeair is blue.

my less developed OCs don't have a suuuuper solidified colors yet tho, but currently I'm thinking that Ceriondil is red, Rodigrin is turquoise, and Elwar is a dark steel blue. I'm actually still not sure who the 4th member of their group will be besides the fact that they're a dwarf, so I don't have a color for them yet.

6. "how do they wear their hair? do they care a lot how their hair looks?"

hmmm I'll answer this for Ethedis bc she's one of my only characters who actually styles it lol. She keeps is pulled back pretty simply, but lets her bangs loose to just do whatever. She's not super concerned with keeping it looking neat all the time, but she likes to keep the long parts out of her way, and if it can look pretty at the same time then that's always a nice bonus! she also likes to accessorize with those little silver leaf decorations

also, I don't know where I saw this headcanon or how commonplace it is, but I've heard some people go with this idea that for elves braiding each other's hair is kind of like an intimate thing that couples do? Idk if I'll go with this angle, but at some point in the 4th age it might be cute to add a little braid somewhere in her hairstyle, bc she's started to let Corunir help style it <3 (another one of those little things that doesn't seem like a big deal, but it is to her)

9. "favorite food? least favorite? are they a picky eater? do they have any dietary restrictions?"

hmmm I'll answer this one for Tossdir!

Tossdir really can't be a picky eater, he's a Ranger and sometimes just has to take whatever he can find, so he's developed a tolerance for basically anything that could be considered edible. and some not. I think he ate a stick once.

As for his favorite, he really liked carrot cake! But being the sentimental guy that he is, can't eat it anymore without thinking about Tadan and some measure of guilt, seeing as he partially blames himself for his death. It was the last thing Tadan ever gave him, after all.

He is now deeply conflicted about carrot cake.

10. "if they wear jewelry, what kind? do they prefer silver or gold? do they have a favorite gem?"

Ethedis wears silver jewellery mostly! More when she's at home in Rivendell, but when she's traveling she usually goes without, besides the little silver leafs in her hair of course (mostly because I don't want to draw any more jewellery lmao)

I never really gave much thought to what her favorite gem would be, hmmm... first thing that came to mind was something pale and green, perhaps beryls? elves are said to be fond of them after all. I guess that makes her basic lmao

12. "how long have they been around? do you know their birthday? is their birthday the day you made them or another day? what do they think of celebrating birthdays?"

Oh gosh, how long has Ethedis been around? I guess I created her when I started playing lotro. according to my account, it was created in...

2016! which was... hey, lotro owes me a gift box! that was 8 years ago but my account only has year 7 gifts >:(

anyway I guess that makes Ethedis roughly 8 years old, but I couldn't tell you exactly when she went from player character to capital C Character™

Tossdir was created when Before the Shadow came out, around November of 2022, but I guess his concept of "weird Ranger who sleeps in bushes named Shrub Man" goes back a little bit further, but not much.

now I did actually work out some of their birthdays in-universe by rolling some dice for funsies. let's see if I can find where I wrote that down... ok so Ethedis - May 19th (she's 350 someodd years old) Tossdir - September 18th, just a few days before Sarn Ford and everything else in Cardolan, that sure is a fun coincidence huh! (he's the Dunedain equivalent of being in his early 20s) Celeair - March 31st (probably late 20s? maybe like 30 by the time he gets to Trum Dreng but that's subject to change) Margim - I thought about rolling dice for her, but no one remembers when she was born in-universe anyway, and she has no idea how old she is.

35. "do they ever return home?"

I like to think they all make it there, in some fashion or another. But for many of them what "home" looks like is different at the end of their stories than it was at the beginning.

For Ethedis it isn't Rivendell anymore, but wherever Corunir and Tossdir are, both in this life and the next.

For Tossdir I don't think it's Tornhad at the end, so much as the North in general might be what he considers home, so long as his friends and family are there with him. I do think he still has a lot of fondness for the Trollshaws though.

For Celeair it's wherever Margim is safe and happy, and for Margim that ends up being Lhan Tarren.

For Elwar the current plan is that she's going to Gondor with Ciriondil, where she'll take some levels in Mariner and her home will be on the ocean, with the family those chose to love her.

(now that I type it out, it almost seems a little sappy that all their ideas of what home is aren't really places so much as wherever the people they love are, but hey I'm allowed to be a little sappy right?)

I started playing this new code breaking game for funsies, and it isn't as much like real code breaking because:

It's annoying as shit and plays ads even if you start guessing correct letters too quickly [punishing success]

It tells you immediately if you guess a letter wrong, has a 3 strike system and no way of notating theoretical letters so it's both harder and easier that actual code breaking in various ways [harder because any wrong guess or accidental button press means watching stupid fucking ads that I want to light on fire]

I'm not sure if having set themes to work from during events makes it leaps easier, or if not knowing common media and quotes makes it harder, but it giving you a few letters to start off def seems like easy mode, I want a dark mode and there is no dark mode... I mean the colour the app is very bright it's like all white.

But letter frequency and other 'techniques' still apply, like your most common letters are prone to being e t n and a, and there are ways to figure out whether a single letter word is I or A, etc...

Anyway I'm disabled so if I have a day where I can't do much but be on my phone, there's nothing to stop me from solving puzzles all day unless the brain fog is hitting hard

So there was an event with ranking like there are in a lot of games and as usual I expected not to even place, as usual, because I am doing this for fun and I don't tend to play mobile games all that much, I'm not even 'good' at them the way someone would be if they just did it daily... Like my grandmother does the daily newspaper puzzles way faster than me because she does them daily and that's what most mobile games are like for me when I play them, I just have no practice.

And then I accidentally won the tournament, in first place, out-lapping the second place person [score something like 2000 when other people were mostly under 300, I think second place was around 500-700 ish?], because I was solving the puzzles while watching supernatural and wanted to finish the -unrelated- seasonal event puzzles so that I could ignore the rest of the event for the remaining days without missing the puzzles, and -apparently- all the event puzzles count towards your ranking and not just the main ones on the app? It gave me a bunch of in-game tokens or keys or whatever I don't even think I'm going to use?? [sorry]... Imagine some new guy blows in and just smashes everyone out of the lead in 3 days right at the end of the challenge. The worst part is I don't even use the hints. I almost quit 20 times just because of the fucking ads [got distracted playing a few]. I would like to personally apologize the the people in second and third but especially 4th place who probably expected that ranking not to budge and probably actually cared and actually wanted the prize, if it makes you feel any better I have no life.

I've only been playing the game for 6 days. But like, I do real code breaking sometimes for fun?

My brain needs something to do that's of some higher value and challenge than fake code breaking games, but my only jobs right now are seasonal 'gathering' and resting. I can't even get into most of my hobbies until I get my apartment better put together.

This is me going stir crazy... Just solving puzzles all day until I want to resort to arson [against the ads]... I need something to chew on but media is not holding my interest [joy is stored in the nothing, I yearn]. Maybe I'll stream a game again soon. Maybe the next zero dawn game will go on sale. Maybe we'll play Mass Effect?

Anyway, I want to design a code breaking game that's better, and I have some suggestions for mobile ads to make them more effective and less annoying.

I've tried a number of simple mobile puzzle games I just uninstalled within a day because they were too fucking annoying. Like most of them are designed with inevitable fail states that force you to watch ads constantly to keep playing at all, making it so fucking tedious and obnoxious and unsatisfying. I think they expect you not to notice that it isn't a lack of skill responsible for you failing but is instead designed into the game. I think they are targeting mostly children and people who don't know better to make ad revenue.

When my life gets better put together I think I'm just going to develop mobile games for practice and make them cheap af or free and not have ads. I can code and do the graphics so why tf not. Like imagine decoding for days on end and getting to read something fun or solve a cool mystery with actual code breaking techniques and there's cool graphics and no annoying ads.

i know ive been inactive on this blog for today (or well, technically yesterday) but luckily, there is a very good reason !!!!

i spent a good few hours organizing this blog a bit (& my own main blog), so theres soooome minor changes, moreso for me than you guys, but ill still mention everything :3 (because i spent hours on this i wanna show it off LMAO)

i learned how to do gradients on text and it was SUCH A PAIN, but so worth it look guys its so pretty now ??

i tried to shorten the pinned post a bit, or atleast leas overwhelming so theres not much red gifs anymore, and instead of 'boundaries / fyi' theres now in & out of character sections !!

TSCS Season 2 Episode 4

AHHHH okay I know I'm a day late and its thanksgiving and everyone else has already said probably the same things about this episode but i just speed ran the watch through and i also gotta scream about this in a manic FRENZY.

First and more important, the legendary council has just been SLAUGHTERED by the Claus family so far.

Fucking love that Sandy is here! Love this guy, love that he just wanders into places without a care in the world, go off king. LOVE that he's gotten into energy drinks (he's so me coded fr fr).

But keeping MORE secrets from the council? Pulling off an easter switcharoo heists to no one notices anything? Using Sandys dream sand AGAINST HIM???

Now tell me these things aren't just so Jack coded, right? And not worrying about fucking ruining easter because it's not his holiday??? TELL ME these are not things that Jack is capable of doing! Tell me how Scott is somehow being a WORSE council member than Jack right now??? He is the antagonist of this series and he's somehow gotten more and more unlikable, which I thought was impossible. AND YET HERE WE ARE!

Also, easter is such a weird angle to play with for this subplot. Like (and I'm being real biased), we could've gotten a better look at Jacks lore since he's more closely tied to the holiday. Or even more Sandman because of Santa's work during the night. Idk, I just don't understand why Easter out of all the facets we could've played with here.

Speaking of Easter, Carol...UGH CAROL! I appreciate the sentiment and the message you're trying to send to your daughter (and the message the writers are trying to clumsily shoehorn in), but THATS LITERALLY EB'S HOME!! HIS HOME!! YOU BROKE IN STARTED BUSTIN SHIT UP AND YOU THINK YOUR THE GOOD GUYS????

And of course, they drop in the lore about the amulet right at the very last possible second, so I don't even care about that shit.

But for whatever reason, Mad Santa is somehow being a much better Santa than Scott! He's putting on a show and giving gifts and being fucking cool, and you're telling me he's the enemy? So, what if he was a tyrant at some point, he seems chill now! And his magic is fucking cool as shit.

(Obligatory bitterness about everyone being able to use winter/ice magic/spells so liberally. Just throwing that around for funsies. I just miss my frosty little guy okay. I miss him terribly.)

Also, as a personal aside, Sandman can get nightmares? Nightmares...? 👀👀👀Very very interesting...Being sandman isn't all fun and sheep and dreams is it...? I bet it's not. Not with a certain someone on the loose with access to nightmare magic. Definitely won't be using this for future reference no sir.

I don't have any closing thoughts other than this episode has melted my brain in the worse way possible.

shepherd is back to his regular work, and unsuccessfully trying to take down price in a way that fits into his moral code. it's a little difficult now with the extra help from canary and her haunting of ghosts tho ;)

i posted about the dress for her and price's wedding here, buttttttt i do have inspo pics of her other two weddings dresses 👀

so for her and graves's wedding i imagine her dress as something like this. he would've had it custom made for her, with most some of his own input, so it would be very beautiful but very opulent with touches of gold and showing a little skin to show her off. i mentioned in the chapter with her wedding photo too that the dress would've also been made a bit too small for her, very much signifying the start of his control over her and making her ignore her discomfort to please him.

for makarov, i think something more like this. like it's little more than lingerie, he’d def make it too tight on her, and not at all appropriate for most settings but he doesn't care about style or propriety or how she feels about it. canary is essentially a trophy to him and he plans on showing off as much of her as possible as a way to gloat. he wants her one pull away from being completely exposed - literally and figuratively. she is entirely under his control and he wants her and everyone around them to know it.

and for funsies to counteract the bad juju of graves and makarov, once price and canary are back together and they're in their "honeymoon" phase aka the canary feels comfortable enough to sleep with him phase, she starts wearing stuff like this around the manor just to tease him

Update on the Chapter 3 Mock Stuff + Some Other Stuff!!

Hey all! It's me, your favorite purple goat with a booty stank upload and sleep schedule, Pompom!

Ever since the newsletter Toby had published on Halloween, I have started to feel less and less encouraged towards continuing my mock Chapter 3 content. On top of lacking any sort of consistent motivation towards making music like I used to have, it seems like we're nearing the release of Chapter 4 sometime within the next couple of years. Now, that's exciting, for sure! And, while it may seem like a long time, it's been, like, almost half a year since my last uploads, LIGHT THE LIGHTS and Written in Stone, and, while I certainly feel better than I had during that time, there's no denying that I still lack so much of the creative potential I once held, and I'm afraid my motivation has been so lacking, that I can't fathom when I'll ever feel the same again. I would kill to upload consistently again sometime, but it really does feel like I have to be on this little forced hiatus. Darn you, brain!

Well- Apologies for the pseudo vent post! But I only bring this up because, due to these complications, I've decided to just drop what I have now here. This doesn't mean I'll never pick these back up, but I feel terrible for leaving my last upload five months in the past, and I haven't really added anything major to any of these tracks since, well, forever ago! So, if it's something you're interested in, these three are among the primary tracks I was developing for my mock Chapter 3.

"Obligatory Field Area"

Obviously, this track holds no title. I mean, technically speaking, none of them do, but the other two I just decided to play along with the existing naming schemes of Deltarune character tracks (Like "Queen", or "Lancer" (But is that called "I'm the Bad Guy?" I don't really know...)). Meant to be the primary area of the mock chapter, resembling a similar, sprawling "field" to that of Hopes & Dreams and Cyber, this is where you would, inevitably, meet Tenna. The art was just a quick mockup I made and never expanded upon, so excuse the poor quality.

Mike

A (very short) song doodle I was making for Mike, the day host (Think of him and Tenna like Nickelodeon and Nick @ Nite, or Cartoon Network and Adult Swim!). Mike holds a more mature, thoughtful attitude and is much less of a "threat" to the Lightners. Even if he has a notably short temper, he knows how to keep his cool and to remain with his stage face on! Instead of directly stopping the Lightners, he more so just likes fooling with them to keep his audience entertained. That is until partway into the chapter, when a mysterious foe comes to bust the party and kick Mike off the stage...

Tenna

A theme for the Big T himself, Tenna! He's a lot more, uhm.. Obnoxious? Than Mike? Being the night host, he holds a more brash attitude for his more mature audiences, and is a lot less thoughtful than Mike. There's not a lot else to say about him, as that's all I've really had in mind up to now, lol. Probably my favorite theme out of the three, though; Obviously, it's kind of a re-take of my previous "Mike" theme that was just made for funsies.

And that's it, really! Those are the three big songs I was doodling out before my brain said, "No." Perhaps sometime in the future I'll pick these back up and continuing developing my ideas. Thankfully, other than music, I've still been trying to get some stuff done, including prototyping various game ideas pseudo-privately. I do anticipate uploading on Tumblr more, I've just never really had a reason to do so as of yet, lol. Sometime, though, I'd love to eventually start posting about my coding projects, and maybe my art. I've never really worked with social media platforms before, admittedly, but I'll definitely try to at least consider branching out and experimenting more with Tumblr going forward.

Over the river and through the woods to the volcano we go!

Week 4

I normally take the time on Sundays to find a comfy spot somewhere in my hotel to write these weekly blog posts. However, due to a weekend excursion and the very long trip back, I’m on the bus with a few more hours to go and a lot of boredom to kill. Based on the title alone, I’m sure you’re the tiniest bit curious to want to know what in the world I’m talking about. If I guessed right, it’s your lucky day! You now owe me your undivided attention and $5 (I take any form of delivery: carrier pigeon, hot air balloon, the pony express, you name it).

Into the swing of things

Now with two weeks of doing research work under my belt, I’ve been getting into more of an established routine. My group partners Jayashree, Ricardo, and Diego are super great and we’ve been making so much progress with our projects. We have a little system going of how we divide up our work but usually end up collaborating together which I think is more fun. Our PIs, Jacobo Paredes and Javier Díaz have been keeping us on our toes with things to do, in particular learning about how the 3D resin printer works! During the day, we meetup with all our other friends in the program for (rather long) coffee breaks, lunch, and to just visit each other. I find it really interesting to hear about what they’re working on, like when Deidra Preuss (I know you read these Deidra! :) ) talks about her optimized electric motor or when Izzy figures out some insane code she’s debugging. All of us have been hanging out more together not only at work but outside of it too. We’ll grab a bite to eat, go to the movies, or obnoxiously knock on each other’s doors and walls just for funsies. We’ve even taken a trip to the hospital together for an almost bad allergic reaction from a chocolate croissant (see Mateo’s week 4 post to hear all about that). I can’t wait to see what more shenanigans (hopefully not health related) we’ll get into together. Recently, I’ve made it my mission to try as many different cheeses as I can and review them. As a woman of science I think this information is rather useful. I personally aspire to be like Remy from Ratatouille when he experiences the delight of pairing the cheese and strawberry together like a true master of culinary arts. I’ve been doing a fair amount of exploring around the city, trying new food places and not getting as lost in old town anymore. But there’s still so much more of San Sebastian I have yet to see and more areas of the map to unlock with my friends!

L’amour de ma vie: Clermont-Ferrand

And just like that, we’re back in France!

Why? It’s been a big dream of mine to visit a volcano, but need to start small first you know? Before the study abroad program began, Jayashree and I found a dormant lava dome called Puy de Dôme, which is part of a volcanic mountain range filled with other lava domes and cinder cones called Chaîne des Puys. These are all located very close to the city, Clermont-Ferrand, which features several buildings made of volcanic stone. Pretty neat, huh? Sooo, naturally we had to go because who could turn down the chance to see volcanos?

On our first day, we got there bright and early by bus at 8 am and just walked around the city to hit some of the places we wanted to see. Our first stop was the Notre Dame of Assumption Cathedral, the most iconic symbol of the city with its Gothic structure and stunning stained glass. The whole thing is composed of black volcanic stone from the region, and words can’t even describe just how amazing it looked both inside and out. From there, we visited more cathedrals, checked out the mall, ate at Five Guys because I was really craving a classic burger, and chilled in the main square before we could check-in at our airbnb. Our host, Loïc, was actually not even in France but having a blast at Réunion Island off the coast of Africa (good for him!) but made sure we got there okay and even left candies for us in the apartment. We capped off the night by watching How to Get Away With Murder and collapsed in bed with high hopes for our ascent to the top of Puy de Dôme in the morning…

A modern day story of Sisyphus

I love going on a good walk. Long walks, short walks, anything of the sort is my forte. Now, do I hike? This was my first ever real hike but pshhh I wasn’t going to back down from the challenge. We took a bus early in the morning (more like a series of buses and a tram due to some language barriers) and arrived at the base to start our journey. Accidentally started hiking on the wrong side of the trail and had to hop the fence, but besides that, we took off. The weather honestly couldn't have been any better, it was a light mist and a slight chill which felt really great when walking. For a good 89% of the trek I was doing just fine, having the time of my life and saying an occasional Bonjour! to a passing traveler. My fate was met when we reached the stairs. Up until this point, it had just been trails leading the way up. Closer to the summit though, there were several long series of stairs built in since I'm assuming a trail would've been inefficient. I started off as the engine that could, but quickly turned into the engine that couldn't. At an outlook point, I stopped to take a break and let my limbs regain a sense of consciousness before trudging along. I wouldn't let this break my resolve. The 10 hour bus ride it took to get here couldn't end with me ALMOST reaching the top. And so, we continued onward and cleared the stairs to find ourselves at the peak of Puy de Dôme! The view was nothing short of incredible, at a height of 4,806 ft the entire city of Clermont-Ferrand and beyond could be seen. Unlike Sisyphus, I completed my trials and tribulations with just a few bumps along the way...and almost losing my hat forever.

Dungeons and Dragons, or Caves and Slugs?

We took a well-deserved rest for lunch and then began our next endeavor, which was to see the Puy Pariou. This volcano featured a large crater at its center and at the summit a TON of wind. Unfortunately, the path to the bottom of the crater was blocked off since erosion had caused mini ravines to form and make it unsafe for travelers. Still, the top of Puy Pariou showed a beautiful view of the rest of the volcanic mountain chain, as well as another look at the city of Clermont-Ferrand. From there, we found that there was a cave system nearby called Grottes de Cliersou and couldn't miss the opportunity to do a bit of spelunking. At this point, the rain picked up and started making the trails kinda slippery, but it wasn't enough to cause us to feel unsteady (keep this in mind for later). The walk itself to the caves was sketch, the trail took many twists and turns, as well as got very narrow at times, but when we eventually got there it was so worth it. The formations of the rock created small pockets that we could go underneath, and when we shined our flashlights those weren't even bright enough to illuminate the cave :0. On the outside, there was a random group of teens listening to american pop music which added to the overall vibe (I guess ariana grande's voice echoing off the rock walls wasn't something I thought I would experience but I'll give it an 8/10). On the way back, I have two things to say. First, I saw the most ginormous slug I've ever seen in my entire life. To be fair, the only wild slugs I've witnessed were only during this hike BUT STILL! Now the second thing circles back around to the wet trails from the rain. It was a lot more slippery on the way down, and I was also wearing vans which are not in any way a hiking boot. Not my proudest moment, but I fell (3 times) with mud alllllll over my pants. Couldn't do much but just own it and keep trekking.

Would I come back again? Definitely. Hands down. There's still so many trails that we didn't get to go on and more sights to see in that mountain range and also back in the city. On that note,

This is blog one of two where I post fanart, screencaps, and lore of my more canon-compliant characters. I have six for this blog, most of whom are.... well... Not really *played* but the concepts won't go away, so like... Many many OCs. Most are miqo'te, because I am Cat Coded.

We've Got Mi'una, who is married to Thancred and kind of has a harem. She's my main, I'm doing endgame content with her when I remember. Her lore day is Monday (Mi'una Monday), and she has an Ao3 series, Healer In Pink (And I would maim for some fanart of her and Thancred. The harem was unintentional, he's her primary partner and she loves him to death.)

Then there's Lily-Bell. Sweet baby bean. She's canon-complaint, but her story is a whole nother... well... story! XD Her lore day is Tuesday, and her series on Ao3 is Memoria Vivi In-game, she's currently in Heavensward.

Thursdays belong to Crys! Crys's tragedy starts well before the canon events, and is why she's a hero in the first place. In Crys's canon (Okay, in many canon, but importantly this one) Haurchefant lives! For smooshy reasons. Crys does not yet have a series, and she is not actually in the game because I can't settle on her appearance. >.>

Hopeful crashes into Fridays like the hellion Hrothgar she is! An adopted child of Sharlayan, her favorite people are Urianger and Moenbryda. (Moen gets to live because she also adopts one of my more canon-breaky OC's into her story. She's over on the other blog.)

Satrudays are the property of the 'demure' Lady Everleigh de Fortemps. Twin to Emmanellain, only daughter of the Fortemps line, she very much fits the line of "She is beauty, she is grace, she will punch you in the face!" She became the WoL because Haurchefant encouraged her to go out and see more of the world. Oops.

Starfall rounds out the week, taking the Sunday lore slot. A half Dohman, half Ala Mhigan, she's skilled with knives, swords, and has more energy than a basket full of puppies. She adopts Thancred as her dad figure (much to his confusion), and eventually ends up as the leader of Team One Braincell (Herself, G'raha, and Alisaie)

All of them are open to RP shenanigans, though mostly outside the game as there's not many that are *in* it. Eventually I plan to run all of them for the funsies and the various classes because I cannot omniclass. >.>

yes! the first thing that popped into my head was you guys being over in l.a. for work purposes, but there's a break scheduled for everyone after a week or so of press/shows/whatever. and neither you or matty can wait for work to be done - the plan is to spend a couple of weeks on the west coast, just you and him and the summer sunshine with nobody around to bother you, which starts as soon as the final show ends. and it's not the first time you've been away together - he's whisked you on city breaks across europe, to long weekends at spas in the english countryside, to a week in a cottage up the north of scotland - but it's the longest amount of time you'll have spent alone together since you started seeing matty, so you're fucking buzzing. like, on top of all your duties at work, you've made it your business to keep a note of exactly how long it is until you and your boyf can go away together; the whole week, whenever you walk past matty, you'll spout the days/hours/minutes to him so excitedly, and he finds it fucking adorable (because he's just as excited as you are). the morning after the final show, you say your goodbyes to everyone at the hotel, before matty's dragging you outside and into a convertible - he absolutely does something cheesy like kisses you deeply and says "sunglasses on, babe, let's go" before driving off. and matty knows the whole "driving with your lover through california in a vintage car" is very lana del rey coded, but so is your relationship in general lmao (literally the d word thing began with "ride"), so i think he leans into it a little bit for funsies - you guys stay at the chateau marmont for a few nights, exploring hollywood and laurel canyon, before driving up the pacific coast highway and ending up in san fran over the course of a couple of weeks, stopping off here and there for a night or two. and it's just so perfect - it's the two of you just having all the time in the world to spend loving and getting lost both with and in each other, exploring places neither of you have ever been and making amazing memories, everything warm and dappled with sunshine and totally idyllic. it might even be the time/locale of the first "i love you"; imagining the two of you staying in some beach house for the night, and you're sat out on a blanket on the sand together watching the sunset over the pacific ocean. the post-sex glow is lingering over you both, and you're curled up to matty wearing one of his t-shirts, the two of you totally content - i think he'd look at you, eyes sparkling as you watch the sea and the sky, and just be so overcome with love for you that he just quietly says "i love you", and you smile, turning to him and saying "i love you too", and you both know the other means it <3

I'm gonna be honest here and say that the first reason that led me to shipping them was because I was thinking about Flash / GL ships (eg. Halbarry / KyleWally , etc. ) one day... and then that's when I realised that I could read up more about them ???

And bam! I picked up my first JSA comics to read (the 1992 run: and it was already a great start to them as seen in these panels):

But ofc their interactions are 100% platonic-coded ( I mean, we all know that Jay and Joan are a tight knit ) and it was just them being best friends ( which was one of the exact reasons why I shipped them ; for funsies... Which made me tend to overlook the realism x''0)

Oh and about how Jay is obviously straight (+ head over heels for Joan) and Alan being canonically gay... That alone is also another reason why I shipped them (but it's actually more of a one-sided thing?)

Though I will leave it at that for now because I don't wanna ramble too much about them in this ask lmao

So in short (TLDR) , they started out as a crackship kinda thing before my brain went haywire and started forming my own personal headcanons for them and I'm stuck with them now </3

Okay here’s baseline Mothman marvel oc lore (subject to change)

I simply love them and cannot stop thinking about them

They’re the real actual mothman of the marvel universe, all the mothman sightings still happened and it was them

Their “real” name is Emry Ermine but they mostly go by Em

They’re a lab experiment grown from moth and human dna by some evil group which i haven’t decided on rip

The lab they were made and raised in was busted by superheroes for evil crimes and they escaped in the chaos

They lived in the woods for a while after

Their abilities are flight (obvi), enhanced strength/durability, wall climbing, and precognition

Precognition means they can sense if something bad will happen in an area or too a person. They can sense severity and get minor insights on what it could be (sometimes), but mostly it’s just a bad feeling

This is why they get spotted places before disasters, they would try to stop whatever was gonna happen but often couldn’t. This is also why the general public is scared of them

Because they were basically rescued by superheros they’re a big superhero fanatic

Has a parasocial relationship with Spider-Man, and any other bug themed superhero but mostly Spider-Man

Thinks that the bug themed heroes could be actual bugs like them. They’re like 55% sure Spider-Man is an actual spider

Eventually got their shit together and now lives a relatively normal life, relatively

Works as a website programmer

Basically nocturnal, sunlight tends to hurt their eyes if they don’t wear thick glasses

Has a severe coffee addiction, literally always drinking an ice coffee

Made a superhero costume because they’re a huge nerd and started wearing it around for funsies at night

People started thinking they were a superhero so they just committed

Because of their precognition abilities they can sense where something bad will happen and usually just waits around to stop it

They can also get a bad feeling about a person either because something bad is going to happen to them or they’re gonna do something bad

Will then just spend the night following the person around, sometimes in secret and sometimes they’ll just hang out with them

Meets quite a few other heroes and villains doing this and is not chill in the slightest

They don’t particularly like fighting and prefer to talk to people or find some other solution

If they have to fight they prefer to backup someone else

They are on one hand extremely online but also pretty gullible and inexperienced with day to day things. They mostly spend their time on superhero forums, coding forums, and random Wikipedia articles

They love all bugs and will cry if you kill one in front of you

Tends to stay quiet but will talk nonstop when excited

Almost always goes outside in costume because people are a lot more comfortable with a superhero than with a big old moth creature

Is often spotted at the grocery store in costume
