I miss the person I was a year ago. two years ago. more social. happier. doing more creatively.

why does consuming content destroy me. i am so bad at this. why can't i just read books and play video games like a normal person

#e #i'm sorry for this but i never make posts with essays in the tags so bear with me for once #every time i find a new Thing it eats me alive until i can forget about it #after i finished earthbound i cried for 2 days straight. u think i am exaggerating but i am not... it was scary. i could not stop bawling #when i read the locked tomb series i was literally emotionally destroyed for a whole ass month #while i had the books out from the library i just kept reading them. and rereading them. and rereading them #and i read really fast so i probably read each book like 5 times at least. and the emotional parts i read over dozens of times #anyway this time my Thing is lore olympus. i read all of lore olympus in two days and now i don't know what to do with myself #(ok to be fair i was caught up in like 2021 but it's been a while so i had to start from the beginning again)#side note: i can't wait for alecto to come out so i can be completely destroyed for the rest of my life

just wanted to thank you everyone for being a part of this blog… “big things to come soon”

#i am proud and happy about it because this blog came from my moving blogs in 2021 #and on my past blog i had about 1000 followers so it’s like i finally regained that reach #which i’m specifically excited by because this blog (contrary to my previous one) is ONLY about the witcher books with no n*tflix talk #like ik ohhh ‘you are a fandom blog you have no rights’ but it makes me happy that we’re all gathered here together for the same thing :)#i don’t think fandom has to be an inherently toxic or immature space i think it can be a meaningful place of discussion and participation #the elbow-high diaries #updates #it’s kind of an interesting thing the witcher books fandom in english in the 2020s i am really very curious where it goes from here #it’s interesting to me because it’s such a specific and unique situation of media spread #it’s not like the witcher is unpopular or indie—it’s extremely popular. a mass pop culture phenomenon #at the same time the english-speaking (and in my case specifically american) fandom is primarily built around tw3 and then now n*tflix #even if the books were read and successful in the english market i mean they did not have the same kind of cultural impact #so it’s particularly of interest to me to boost visibility and yes indeed—fandom—conversation around the witcher books #and for me i like thinking through what that looks like—#an english-speaking (including not limited to american) fandom without anglifying or americanizing it #or at the very least *trying* to not anglify or americanize it. because some amount of it is unintentional yet necessary (i.e. translation)#but even in translation for example. the kind of translation and how it’s gone about. there is potential for cultural learning and #the most faithful translations will not make total sense so as the readers you go and look for that context and learn something #all part of a larger discussion and i kind of got lost typing these tags but this is why this milestone is special to me #it shows that people are interested in what this blog posts about and that means we have a future to explore

just so y'all know inside (2021) and inside the outtakes (2022) still hits as hard as they did when they came out

#bo burnham captured the zeitgeist of 2020 like nobody else did #he doesn't say the word COVID once #and yet!#I think as the years went on watching them became worse somehow #to me at least #don't get me wrong: I regularly watch them #but bo burnham captured exactly what 2020-23 felt #especially 2020 2021 and 2022 #I don't know #I'll always hold inside (2021) very close to my heart because it carried me through tough times #and then inside the outtakes (2022) came out and it felt like inside (2021) all over again #they work very well together but even better apart #I watched inside (2021) a couple of weeks ago and am watching inside the outtakes (2022) today #they hit hard watched back to back. they hit harder watched with certain distance. and they hit the hardest as we travel further from 2020.#I don't know if I'm using zeitgeist as the true meaning of the expression so forgive me #but inside (2021) and inside the outtakes (2022) are simultaneously different and equal works #I couldn't choose one or the other because they came to me at different times to different needs #I love them very much even if differently #but I love them both #I can open my heart and say that I needed them both #and rewatching is like being hugged by bo burnham #I feel very seen and loved and adored #I love bo burham #I have loved bo burnham for almost a decade now #from all his specials none hit as hard as inside (2021) and inside the outtakes (2022)#bo burnham #inside (2021)#inside the outtakes (2022)

God my language classes annoy me so much. Both are such busy work yknow? I finished all my German assignments when they were due so that's fine, but it got so low effort by the end cause ik he doesn't really read them. But with Russian, I have a lot of unfinished work and I'm kinda tentatively doing it even tho the semester is over 😭😭 she's so lax and disorganized, so I have no idea what her grading will be like. It's like, will she just give me an obligatory 100(as was practice the prev classes) or like should I do these as assurance yknow 😭

#most confusing class ever #at least the german one has strict guidelines and due dates #so im like okay i def have to do this even if im bullshitting it #but russian i have no clue????#sometimes she'd ask us to do somw assignment to bring into class #and then never talk about it again ;;;#i did do the final project which she was very clear abt #so thats fine thats clear #but all these random other recording and quiz assignments #i guess ill do them???? jjst in case???#shes not graded anything and all of the due dates are just. wrong.(ex. some of them literally say 2021)#theres just this guilt and fear eating away at me that she'll randomly decide to be accurate and itll fuck my grade #theres just absolutely no way to predict what shes gonna do and when shes gonna do it #its scary 😭#well anwyays #i got my grades back for my actually enjoyable classes #and the little note from my one professer was so sweet 😭#she siad basically: keep in contact! ik youll do great things #and i think i got like an 100 in the clas???? im confused abt it but ill take it 😭#<- not that i did badly but the way she explained the grading was a bit confusing to me ig #catie.rambling.txt

... So I thought the oc I made when I was like 14 who happened to be Grovyle's evil brother was called Scar, but I did a deep-dive on deviantart earlier and discovered he was actually called Shroud. Felt less on the nose, slightly more relieved with my 14 year old self?

Then I looked deeper into the description on the art I was looking at. Shroud was just a nickname or something. His actual name was Riku. WHY RIKU OF ALL THINGS 😭😭😭😭

#i don't think i based that on any blorbos i had at the time at the very least #but as someone who has a massive riku kingdomhearts phase from like 2018-2021 this is haunting #hell my shelves are decked out in riku figures. my main tumblr is called acerikus. help
