Casting Love 0.13 -- Kenma's Awesome Roommate
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your trip to the cafe had been short. Makki and Mattsun had asked for you to come talk to them, joking you had been showing clear favoritism for the only member of your group who hadn't gone to Seijoh, but you only rolled your eyes and came to say hi to the two of them.
Even if you hadn't been planning to meet with Kenma, Makki had a class in twenty minutes so you all chatted while ordering your treats and waiting to receive them. It didn't take long before Makki separated from you two and Mattsun took it upon himself to walk with you to Kenma's building.
"Dang, I thought we'd be going to the one dorm building near here, not this place!"
"I thought the same thing when he said he was close to the cafe! Maybe his parents are rich, or something."
"Maybe you should try and date him, get that money." he nudged against you teasingly.
"Why bother when I got Tooru and Haji?" you laughed back.
"Fair point. Oikawa would spoil you to all hell." you both entered the lobby. "Do you want me to come up to you to the room... if I'm even allowed to?"
You stayed silent for a moment, remembering the system Kenma had explained to you. However, a part of you felt like it was a bit sketchy and would prefer to keep people knowing about it. As close as you were with Mattsun, he did frequently accidentally let secrets out.
"Nah, I don't think they would. Last time I was here he talked to them so they'd know I was with him. Doubt they'd let you in without him down here, thank you though."
"No problem, just don't drop the bag or your drinks." Mattsun waved to you before walking out of the lobby, probably to return to his own dorm. You let out a sigh before heading to the lady that sat at the desk.
"Excuse me?"
Despite you speaking, she didn't bother to even look up at you, she just let out a small hum to show she had heard you.
"I'm here to visit Kozume Kenma. He's on the 7th floor." as you spoke, you began to wonder if Kenma had even be telling the truth. In a building like this, surely they'd have higher security. But before you could even think to call Kenma to prove you were here for him, she scribbled something down and placed a card on the desk in front of you.
"That'll get you into the elevator." she still didn't even look at you, returning to her work. You took the card, still skeptical this could be some sort of joke, and walked to the elevator, swiping it just as Kenma did. Immediately, the light above the elevator went off, showing that it was coming down to the lobby.
It didn't take long for you to get up to the seventh floor and arrive to Kenma's door. You knocked on the door despite having the card and Kenma opened it for you.
"Hey," he greeted, stepping away from the door and letting you close and lock it behind yourself.
"Hi! Here's your drink and apple pie," you place both onto the counter in the kitchen. He lets out a hum, grabbing out his laptop and placing it beside them. "So, looking at this list, I think we should figure out where we can easily buy the majority of these from, to try and avoid paying for shipping from several places and to get them all near the same time."
"Easiest would probably be Amazon then."
You nod your head, pulling out your own laptop and opening up the notes you guys had made and the Amazon website. Kenma didn't bother opening his, simply sliding his chair closer to yours as you began looking for all of your items.
Tumblr media
You two spent nearly an hour picking out the items. In some cases, you both decided it'd be better to create items out of clay instead of buying something else due to the price or for lack of items that appeared as you both wanted them. By the time you guys had everything there, you went to the cart and forced yourself not to show your severe problem with the cost it had totalled to.
"Okay, how do you want me to send you my half?"
You sat for a moment, thinking about the best way. You didn't have any apps that were frequently used for monetary sharing for obvious reasons, though you did know Oikawa's information for most, but that would no doubt raise some questions for Kenma. You instead double checked the kind of phone Kenma had before speaking. "Send it over with Apple Pay?"
He shrugged before opening your guys' conversation and sending over his half. Thankfully due to previous insistence from Oikawa, you had his card saved just in case so you saved it to that card before using it for the items you guys had.
"Hm." you stared at your laptop.
"Hm?" Kenma prompted you to talk.
"Do you mind if we have these go here? We've had some issues with packages being stolen at my dorm."
"Sure." he shrugged, reaching over to enter his mail information before you guys finished checking out.
"Well then! I should probably get going."
Kenma gave you a small nod, standing up to throw away your guys' garbage as you collected your things. Just before you sat up, the front door opened to reveal Kuroo.
"Kenma! I've returned!"
"Okay," was all Kenma said as he came back to you. You let out a small laugh at his simple response.
"Hi Kuroo," you greeted as he walked into the kitchen with you two. The man let out a small, clearly faked, gasp at you being there.
"Hello again! Did I disturb you guys on project stuff?"
"No, you're fine. We actually just finished up!"
"Great timing then. Did you want to stay for dinner, Y/N?" Kuroo offered. It was then you noticed he had some grocery bags.
"Oh," you glanced to Kenma who wasn't even looking at you. He had gone to his phone. "No thanks, but thank you for the offer, I should probably return before my roommate gets worried."
"Are you sure? I promise I can actually cook!"
You let out a laugh, "I'm sure you can cook just fine Kuroo, I'll come back some other time for dinner."
"I'll hold you to that!" there was some silence as you swung your bag over your shoulder. "Say, Y/N, could I have your number?"
"Huh?"
"Don't go trying to date my project partner," it was the first time since Kuroo had walked in Kenma looked up from his phone. The accused man held up his hands with a smile.
"Not, promise. I just thought it'd be nice since you guys'll be working together for this semester. In case something happens and you can't tell them, so I can!"
"Makes sense," you shrugged, pulling out your phone to him. "Enter your number, I'll send you a text when I get home."
Kuroo happily did so, taking a quick selfie on your phone which made you laugh and Kenma roll his eyes, before your phone returned to your pocket.
"Now then, I should get going. Bye! I'll see you in class Kenma, and whenever I see you next Kuroo!"
Kuroo excitedly waved at you, nudging against Kenma to make him look up and wave to you. You laughed before walking out, closing the door behind you.

My current desperation to write the Oikawa SMAU is infecting everything, so if there's like way too much Oikawa love going on in these, SHUSH, he's like- kind of a platonic lover in here
I love Kenma, but man is dry asf and no one can change my mind. Like he WILL be talking more/being less dry in the future but especially when they're not even considered friends we getting the dry treatment guys
Also Ima be honest I don't really know how the like apple pay through messages works so don't overthink it, I just had to make it work
These were supposed to be out yesterday but I got like a massive migraine that wouldn't go away so I didn't feel like arranging everything so I didn't <3
I'm going to be home alone Wednesday-Friday which either means Ima get so much done or nothing done, so I guess we shall see then
These notes are totally not me procrastinating more on cleaning my room (totally)

so actually i'm not sure i've ever posted about this headcanon on here but ... it's "N yelling about knitter hob" time i guess???
so first of all, HOB + HANDICRAFTS in general
but especially hob + knitting, because... i imagine it'd be something he'd pick up for practicality to begin with, but then have time to perfect, and that he holds on to it as a hobby. i think he'd really appreciate indie wool dyers and the availability of unique fibers and blends and colors in modern-day knitting. i think he'd really appreciate that there is always something new to learn or try in knitting, as well as the familiarity and coziness of mindless knitting in front of the telly or while watching webinars or boring zoom work meetings. and i think he'd especially appreciate how knitting brings folks together
like... please imagine hob holding stitch n bitch sessions at the new inn??? hob having a knitting circle??? and it's full of older folks who love this sweet young man in his 30s, and he allows them to believe he's just a really quick study, but he's also doing advanced double knitting and fancy colorwork and brioche and teaching these seasoned knitters things. hob hosting little informal knitting classes at the student union. hob going to charity shops and unravels thrifted sweaters for the yarn and making lovely things with it. hob turning his own wooden needles, even. hob darning his knitted socks and repairing his knits when they fray and holding on to the same pieces for years and years. dream coming over and hob's entire living room is taken up by blocking mats for an enormous snuggly shawl for his elderly neighbor who suffers with joint pain in the winter months
all this to also say—i love love love hob in fall-colored jumpers just as much as the next person but. i invite y'all to imagine the funky hand-knit jumpers potential of knitter hob with me. hob makes all the things by stephen west because colors! textures! cool stitches! and becomes known as the professor with the kinda weird but awesome colorful hand-knit cozy jumpers and scarves (like this and this)... the first one of which dream naturally steals for himself every time he's over
everyone in his department gets hand-knits for the holidays
his flat is also full of hand-knit blankets, tea and mug cozies, pillow covers, you name it
of course, because i can't have knitter hob without making it full dreamling, he's got to knit dream a jumper of his very own (hob has hubris enough to disregard the boyfriend curse, after all). but because dream's already stealing his pullovers, hob decides it should be some sort of billowy open-front long cardigan out of fancy fingering-weight black yarn, with sequin constellations. and also a beanie. the possibilities are *cough* endless
YEAH KNITTER HOB

Since the devs and creative minds behind the FFX -Will- have claimed they wrote the audio drama ambiguous on purpose in order for us to fill in the gaps using our imagination, I'd like to ask what your desire or vision of FFX-3 is! :D
Whether it be in fanfiction or fan art, speculations or whimsical thoughts, I'd love to hear about it!
Hi, Danko Kaji! Brace yourself lol:
I genuinely believe that the future of Spira, unless it's in a distant one, should be left alone. I think X-2 wrapped up the start of the Eternal Calm nicely, and there is no need to push it further. Continuing from where X-2 left off is an example of beating a dead horse.
Also, from what I've seen, going back to Braska's journey is a popular X-3 concept among fans, but that would be the worst, imo. I don't see how it would introduce fresh elements to the story. Essentially, it would be a rehash of X, but with no surprises. I think we should all appreciate how we learned about that time through Auron's recollections (from his personal stories and the memories we witnessed in the ruins), and I fear that a full game focusing on it would diminish that impact. It's an unpopular opinion, but I truly hope that never comes to fruition.
I have two ideas, and one of them is fairly stupid, but I'm sharing. In fact, let's start with that one:
01. Auron in Dream Zanarkand. Tidus once said that fiends were a rarity in DZ, and that it was a big deal when one showed up. It'd be incredible if we got to discover that Auron was the one responsible for keeping them at bay, and was also the one slaying them once they reached the city (a boss, even, which would indeed be a "big deal"). Not necessarily as a hero either, but specifically driven by his promise to ensure Tidus' safety. It's evident that he kept up with his combat skills during his 10 years there, since he wasn't at all rusty when the time for battle came. In fact, he was prepared. The Japanese dialogue hinted that Auron periodically checked in on Tidus. It's interesting to imagine him being away dealing with fiends during those intervals. Perhaps he even had some form of affiliation with a small group of people who learned to fight and are committed to protecting DZ and uncovering some truths. This group could have uncovered something odd that helped them understand there could be more to DZ than meets the eye. They'd be low profile to avoid being dismissed as wacko. Then comes Auron, a sensible man with a strong head on his shoulders, and his arrival in their lives would provide a sense of companionship. Yet he never says he believes them or knows something. Maybe he sees himself in these people who are driven by what they believe, and he knows their worlds would be shattered by the truth.
Since Sin was known to destroy anything/anyone who got too close to DZ, it's plausible that remnants from another world (Spira) would wash up on its shores. Maybr strange technology and trinkets, or unfamiliar clothing. Ideally something more creative than that, lol. Their group backstory would be that their discoveries presented a pattern that each of then began to notice at some point, thus rendering them "touched" by Spira. It would provide an opportunity to see how someone from a fayth's dream or summoning can transform into something more once they've been touched by Spira or Sin. Remember what Bahamut's fayth said:
"Both you and your father have been touched by Sin. Sin, the one whom all Spira—the spiral—revolves. You two are more than just dreams now. Just a little more."
Vague enough to have fun with, if you ask me. Exploring Auron's time in DZ (especially the period between his shattered beliefs and the end of his mortal life) could be awesome. It would allow for insight as to why he aged. Did he manifest it on his own, and if so, was it gradual or immediate? There's a scene in FFX where Tidus (talking to Yuna) revisits a memory that took place while he was still a kid, shortly before his mother's death. Auron was shown to have already aged by then. So, maybe the stress, heartache, fear, and grief (the immense emotional burden) manifested through his appearance, making him look as old and worn as he felt on the inside.
I can't see any of this being translated into a full-fledged game, though. Maybe a smaller game where the "big bad" is actually Auron's inner turmoil and dealing with his new reality—similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6, lol. But those are my unrefined thoughts on that jumble of dumb.

truth or dare?
"Okay, seriously. Brett isn't even here, and Leo isn't going to play no matter what I ask him. Come onnnn- One round?" Gloria pleaded with Jess and Faith…
The backroom sat quiet after, as Jess rolled her eyes and scoffed, looking off. Just because the meeting wasn't happening didn't mean they had to play truth or dare, of all things. So what if Brett isn't here?? Could've watched a movie anyway… I'd rather go home, she thought, glancing to the door where Leo stood, counting down the register. He usually got closing tasks done before they even started their meetings-- but Jess figured he wanted an excuse to dodge Gloria and her nagging. To be entirely honest, Jess wouldn't mind finding an excuse herself, if it meant avoiding Gloria and her… Questions.
However, Faith piped up, shifting her skirt as she moved to sit on her knees instead of criss cross, "I-… I'll play."
….Faith? Of all people? Oh this should be fun.
"Fine. Count me in. Can't be that bad if Faith's playing," Jess teased, nudging Faith's arm with her elbow.
Faith bowed her head at the action, looking away and hiding her face with her hair. So shy…
Gloria beamed once Jess agreed, clapping her hands together, "Awesome!! Okay, so, just to make things a bit more interesting… I'm gonna add some 'spice' to this~ Truth or Dare, but if you won't do either, then I'll give you a new dare you aren't allowed to back out of."
A groan escaped Jess on hearing that, "Oh God."
"You'll be fine, it's not that bad!" Gloria giggled, before she pointed at Jess, "And since you protested, you get to go first. Truth or dare?"
Jess huffed, quiet for a beat. She leaned back against the wall and crossed her arms as she looked to Gloria, "…Truth, then. Hit me."
The corners of Gloria's lips turned up as she 'thought', though she already had a question in mind. Her eyes glanced to Faith, before she said, "Tell 'anyone' in the room what you think of them- myself excluded." …Great. Amazing. Fucking. Amazing start, Gloria. Jess grit her teeth as the thought passed through her mind. No one else was in the backroom, and she knew Leo wouldn't count. There's not even… She didn't even know what to say about Faith. She's cute- nice, charming. But the way Gloria said it made it seem as if there were more on her mind. There- there wasn't. No, definitely not.
Jess sighed as she looked to Gloria, "And what's the dare?"
Gloria chuckled, smirking as the words fell from her lips, "…Kiss someone in the room, myself excluded."
"Why are you excluded from both??" Jess snipped, her teeth gritting after. Why aren't you letting me take the easy way out?
"Because! I know what you think about me, and I don't want to kiss you."
"Ughhhh…." Jess groaned, tugging at her coat sleeves.
"Or, you know…" Gloria's smirk grew as she scooted closer, "You could chicken out, and do the… Other dare."
"Do I even want to know-"
"It's just about as embarrassing," Gloria teased.
Jess rolled her eyes and considered the options. Either do it, or don't, and get stuck with the consequences…
"So… Tell Faith what you think-" Faith's head perked up at the mention of her name… and in the corner of her eye, Jess could see her cheeks were red as her hair. What did she have to be blushing over?
"…Or kiss her." The words snapped Jess out of her thoughts, and a little squeak escaped Faith as she turned her head away from the two once more. Gloria's smirk remained as she let off a laugh, "Your choice."
It took a moment for Jess to buck up an answer, "…what would I be doing for you."
She knew full well Gloria wouldn't give her a straight answer until she chickened out for real, going by the smirk Gloria kept, and the mischievous glint in her eyes. "…I guess I'll take your 'other' dare. I don't even…" Jess bit her lip, smudging the black lipstick that stained it, "Because I can't do either."
Gloria backed off with that, still smirking. She knew.
It was less the dare being a problem. It'd be an easy sweep for Jess… but- well… Faith didn't want that. Not as far as Jess could tell, anyway. It got under Faith's skin… which got under Jess'. Moreover the problem was the truth…
Jess didn't know the truth.
"Soooo…? Got your answer?"
Gloria's voice once again knocked Jess from her thoughts. She looked up and saw as Gloria had scooted closer to Faith- who had tucked away and held her bag in her lap, ducking her head into the drawstring.
"I-isn't it Jess' turn?" Faith mumbled, her eyes darting to Jess before snapping back at Gloria.
Gloria, in turn, shook her head, "Nope!~ I'm the game master, and I'm the one who wanted to play, so we go through one round of me asking, then Jess, then you. Now, answer! Truth or Dare?"
Faith's fingers drummed against the straps of her bag, muttering out, "…Truth…?"
Gloria's smile turned wicked once more as she bobbed her head towards Jess, "The same truth to you. Tell Jess the truth about how you feel."
Faith immediately tensed up, stuttering, "W-waitthat'snot-- That's not what you asked her!!"
What're you hiding that's that bad…? Jess thought- watching as Faith pouted, her arms tightened around her bag as she tried to hide her face even more…
Gloria shrugged, gesturing to Leo, who was still counting down the drawer, "He left, and I don't count, so, Jess is the only one in the room that meets the requirement."
Jess moved and grabbed a water bottle from her own bag, muttering, "So either tell me, or kiss me-" Before she spoke up, glaring to Gloria, "I imagine the 'other' dare would be the same?"
Gloria nodded, humming a little in response.
"…Glad to know I can trust you to come up with this shit, Gloria…" She got a small chuckle back, "Well… One of you would like it."
Gloria's eyes shifted between the two, as she scooted back from both, resting her hands in her lap. Jess gripped her water bottle as her glare intensified, "Just because I might enjoy it, it doesn't mean Faith would."
One of the hands in Gloria's lap pulled up and zipped her lips, though her eyes glanced to Faith… She didn't mean…?
The hand fell shortly after, as she spoke, "Who cares? It's truth or dare, isn't that the whole point?" Her shoulders shimmied as she sung out, "Get out of your comfort zone~"
Jess sung right back, mocking Gloria's tone, "No."
Although she got a "Yes~" snapped back.
As they bickered, Faith shifted, letting the two options settle over her mind… She chose, though, and moved her bag out of her lap. The thud of her books got the two to quiet, as they both looked over to her. "…Faith?"
Jess saying her name did not stop her, as her hands moved from the bag over to Jess- shaking as she took Jess' hand in hers, and brought it to her lips. She pecked the back of it with a light kiss, before pulling away, redder than before.
The movement took a beat to register, as Jess could feel the lingering pass- and warmth flooding to her own cheeks. However, she smiled, just a little…
Cute…
Gloria let off another little laugh, "Oh, okay then~"
Faith picked up her bag again before speaking, trying her best to hide away from Jess as she mumbled, "I-i wish Brett were here… would've made this a lot easier…"
Jess chuckled at the response, though she turned her attention to Gloria, "…So, uh… What now, 'Game Master'?" using her own words against her.
Gloria's response was simple, gesturing to Jess, "We switch, Your round, Jess."
"Pardon?" Her eyebrows narrowed down as her smile fell.
"What? Didn't I say that before? It's your turn. Ask someone truth or dare." Gloria answered simply enough, sitting back onto her feet. Jess glanced to the two, before a thought came to her head. Payback. She wicked smile grew as she spoke, "Gloria… Truth or dare?"
To her surprise, Gloria smirked right back, "Which would you rather I answer?"
"Well," Jess shrugged, "You know both sides of this coin. Pick your poison."
"Dare, then." Short and sweet…
"Kiss someone."
A half part of Jess thought that Gloria would take that and run with it- to get up and kiss Leo, since he counted as 'someone', and she… didn't specify in this room. It saves the awkwardness, and she wouldn't have to kiss a queer.
And yet.
And yet, Gloria got up. "Okay~"
And she moved to Jess, took her chin, and kissed her on the lips, soft and light. Can't ever say Gloria was a chicken.
The flush in Jess' cheeks grew red hot at the realisation, as Gloria pulled back and sat down with a cocky grin. Why the Hell was that as nice as she'd been hoping it would be???
Jess leaned back as her head hit the wall, as she watched Gloria with an empty stare. Processing, but not quite as confused- really just… Wow… You did that.
As she processed, she could hear as Faith's bag was dropped again- though she quickly stood up, and tossed it over her shoulder. She said something, but said it so quietly neither could hear it, before her hurried footsteps nabbed Jess' attention. She turned her head to the door and saw as Faith scooted past Leo, who turned and acknowledged her, saying something back. Gloria hummed a little, which brought Jess back to their room.
Though the attention didn't stay long, as the front doorbell jingled. She grabbed her bottle and tossed it into her bag, slinging it over her shoulder. Gloria pouted a little, "You too?"
"Y…yeah- I think that's my limit."
"Fine…" Gloria pouted, "I'll get back with you about your other dare later." Fuck. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever."
Jess stood up after speaking, moving to the door herself. She waited for a moment as she saw Leo shut up the register and turn to the computer. Usually, she'd take the opportunity to taze him- scare the living daylights out of him, and yet- she didn't. Her eyes flicked to the door, realising Faith wasn't in the shop.
"Hey-" Jess cleared her throat, trying to ignore the blush in her cheeks. She snatched Leo's attention from the computer, "Where'd Faith go?"
Leo glared in response, before sighing, "Fuck- uh… Something about waiting for her mom."
"You didn't ask?"
"Didn't care," Simple as ever. Ugh.
"Fucking Hell…." Jess bit her lip again, looking off, "I guess we're done then. I'm heading home."
"Hm? What? So you don't have to say you're still into Gloria? Hah, yeah, I'd be uncomfortable too, but you deserve it."
The end of her rope got yanked with Leo's last words, and she moved closer, shoving him into the counter, "I get Faith not wanting to play, but you? You're a coward. Keep counting the same damn amount over and over again until you grow some hair on your chest."
She stepped back and made to leave, though Leo grabbed her wrist to stop her, "And what? What would she make me do? What do you think she could ask me that I wound't answer, huh? Considering you couldn't even answer her."
"….Shut up," Jess snarled, snapping her wrist back, "Shut. Up. I at least played the game."
"No, you didn't, Jessie," Leo snarked, smirking in doing so, "You were asked one thing, and you didn't even do it. I, at least, chose not to play, because there wasn't a reason for me to. Nothing she could have asked would have been worth sitting on the linoleum for."
A hiss escaped her at the name, though she shrugged it off and moved to the door, "You want to keep belittling me, fine, Leo. Just keep doing your 'tasks'. I'm going to find your voluntold." "Enjoy the hunt, pussycat," Leo chided, turning his attention to the computer once more.
Jess kicked open the door, muttering under her breath, "Whatever."
The bell rang as she stepped out, though it's chime softened as a new sound pricked Jess' ear… Soft, shaky crying and muttering, barely audible, but enough to get her attention. Jess turned her head for the source, seeing a figure curled up by the corner of Video Video, not able to see who it was as the lights in the parking lot hadn't worked for years- but knowing exactly who it was…
Faith.
Little Faith, who sat with her head tucked into her arms as she cried and talked to herself…
Jess let the door shut as she stepped over, quietly making her presence more known, "…Faith? You okay?"
She could see as Faith snapped upright, stopping her crying as best she could in that second- taking a long breath before responding, "I-i'm fine… um… you-- you um… you heading home…?"
Her voice so raw and rough as she spoke loud enough for Jess to hear through her mumbling…
Jess nodded, her shadow looming over as she took another step closer, mostly to just- be there. "Yeah, why?"
Faith pulled away at Jess's approach, letting off an awkward laugh as she looked to the lot, "Oh… no reason, just… checking- Drive safe!"
The little exclamation made her point more clear- 'Get out of here', 'Leave me alone'. And yet, Jess ignored the signs, pulling back as she spoke, "Right… Do you want a lift, or?"
She could see as Faith shook her head strongly, "No! Er… No, it's okay- I'll wait for my mom…"
"…Okay… Stay safe, Faith." Jess rounded off with that, choosing to leave her alone then. She headed to her car and drove home, just… Thinking about the night.
Thinking about Faith. ——— It wasn't long before Gloria came to collect her due, as come the final bell on Monday, she walked up to Jess' locker, and lightly tapped on the door as Jess shoved things in. Jess pulled the locker door closed just enough to see Gloria, and her smile. She held a bag out to Jess, "Ready?"
The act got a distinct eye roll and a groan, "Fiiine. Let's get this over with…" although a beat passed, as she looked to the bag-- "…what exactly are you having me do?"
Gloria hummed a little, "You'll be joining me for cheer."
"Could be worse, I guess," Jess sighed as she put the remaining items in her locker and shut the door.
On the other hand, Gloria chuckled to herself, glancing off into space as she spoke, "Oh, of course it could. It could be like kissing a cute girl that likes you. What a shame." Before she grounded herself and turned on her heel as she started towards the gym, "Aaanywhoo. Let's get going. I've got your gym clothes with me, so don't worry about it."
It took a moment for Gloria's words to process. A girl that likes me? Jess shook her head to dissuade the thought, seeing as Gloria had already strutted a fair distance down the hall. Get your head out of the clouds.
Jess snapped a band around her wrist to remind herself, before she grabbed her bag and caught up.
A minute or two later, and Gloria poked the locker room door open, stepping inside, and half dragging Jess along with. Really, honestly, being in here was the worst possible idea. God knows what the cheerleaders had been talking about behind her back, especially with that… Rumour. Well, could it really be a rumour if it were true? The chattering stopped as Jess got pulled in, as the girls looked to her and went quiet. She said nothing, though she could feel as she stiffened up. Don't show them fear, they can smell it. However, Gloria still beamed, moving to her locker and tossing her bag on the bench. Jess tailed behind, watching as Gloria opened up the bag and started sorting the clothes. Before she could get too far, one of the other girls came up, timidly glancing to Jess- "…Hey- Uh… Isn't that…?"
Gloria laughed, "No? Didn't you hear that stuff was bull anyway? Just some drama her ex stirred up. She's joining us on a trial," She cleared her throat before speaking up, loud enough the locker room could hear, "And we're gonna do just fine letting her try out, right guys?"
A murmur passed over the girls, generally accepting Gloria's words- though the two could hear some disagreement. Not exactly believing the lie… Nevertheless, Gloria took what she could get, turning back to her bag. The chattering started up again as Gloria's word became the law. She, on the other hand, stayed quiet as she finished sorting out the clothes in her bag. She handed a pile to Jess with a smirk, "There you go."
Jess could see almost immediately why she was smirking, as she looked at the fuzzy legwarmers that sat atop a mostly white leotard. She grimaced, knowing damn well the other girls were probably just wearing shorts and t-shirts, "Couldn't you have stuck me in the same shit as the rest of the squad?? I'm not fucking wearing th-"
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I thought you didn't care what anyone thought of you, Jess," The words came so easily to Gloria, teasing her.
Jess huffed, "I- don't. I still have some dignity though."
"Well, sorry to say, but… that is the actual dare," Gloria giggled to herself, "I couldn't figure out any other way of making you wear this, and I thought it'd be funny." "I hate you," Jess' words were bitter, but not really meaning them. She hated the idea, not the person.
Gloria, on the other hand, laughed at the response, "Look, you wouldn't want to work out in those… 'nice' jeans."
Jeans, by which she meant tactfully torn into pieces to look artistic. Gloria gestured with the clothes, before Jess hissed and snatched them, "If word gets out about this, I swear, to God-"
With another laugh, Gloria pulled back, moving to put on her work out gear and leaving Jess to her own devices. The outfit itself wasn't that complicated, but the prospect of it sucked Ass. It turned out there were some more accessories tucked inside the leotard, like black tights- Jess only put on what she deemed was necessary, and left things like the tacky pink heart gloves and scrunchie behind. When she finished getting into the damned thing, she turned to Gloria, showing the kit to her, "Happy?"
Gloria nodded, feigning a posh voice, "You look absolutely radiant, darling~"
As Gloria was seemingly satisfied, Jess turned and started to take off pieces, before she heard…
Ka-shick! Sssssss…
Jess' head snapped towards Gloria as she lowered the camera, "And done."
Jess reached out to the camera immediately, reaching to snag the picture- though Gloria backed up with it, "Hey, hey! Relax! I'm not giving this to anyone."
"Gloriayoufucking-!!"
Gloria put down the camera and kept hold of the picture, "I promise, no one else is getting this except me, and maybe Leo, to prove that I won the dare."
Jess grit her teeth, grinding them into what felt like a paste with how much anger she held back. The feeling faded, as she realised most of the locker room was empty by that point, having cleared out as the cheerleaders went to practice. "…Fine." Gloria put away the picture when she figured Jess wasn't going to destroy the damned thing, and let off a huff after, "You know, you got all dressed up, the least you could do is sit in for practice."
Jess' brow quirked as she looked at Gloria, then to herself, "Really? Like this."
She got a shrug in return, "It is aerobics gear. You'd be fine doing cheer practice in it, and you're already here, so why not? You've watched us more than enough to know some of our moves, right?"
Unfortunately, Gloria had a point, though Jess wasn't a huge fan of admitting it. She sighed as she put back on the little extra bobbles, "Yeah, okay, whatever."
"Atta girl~!"

Sorry, Mr. Sholmes! It's a magician's creed to never reveal their secrets. After all, I can't just go around and share my tricks to the world! That'd defeat the whole purpose!
Tumblr media
Anyway, It's really nice to meet you all too! Hiya Susie, Mr. Sholmes. I don't think I've talked to you all much, other than Narudie and Iris, so it'll be awesome if we get to chat!
Tumblr media
Speaking of which, I hope I get to talk to Iris while I'm here. It'd be a bummer to leave without saying hi.
Tumblr media
But since we were on the topic of magic... You said Zumie was going to a hospital, right? What if I perform there!
Tumblr media
I don't really know if that's allowed, but what they won't know won't hurt them. Right?
Tumblr media
I can't be a great magician without knowing how to sneak around, you know? It'll be a fun little adventure.
Tumblr media
Right, Mr. Hat?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right-o, Trucy! Or should I say, Wright-o!
---
Tumblr media
Ah ha ha ha! So you're a skilled ventriloquist, too!
Tumblr media
Woah!
Tumblr media
Haha, that's incredible!
Tumblr media
I think you should perhaps hold off on the magic show until we're sure he's okay. But I suppose there's no problem with doing it at the hospital...
Tumblr media
I'm sure a magic show will cheer him right up!

What Pet I Think They'd Have and Why: Karasuno Edition
Daichi Sawamura
Tumblr media
Of course he'd have a police dog
He's a cop and if he'd have any pet he'd have a buddy to help him bust criminals and fight crime
But I don't think Daichi would have a "normal" dog breed like a German Shepherd, Malinois, or Akita
I feel like Daichi would have a Rottweiler not bc they are my favorite dog breed
But Rottweilers used to be very prevalent in many police forces around the world until German Shepard and Malinois became more common
Also Rottweilers gained a harsh reputation for being aggressive bc they were trained by drug lords and criminals and were used to in fighting
Rottweilers are very muscular, sturdy, and hard working dogs
If trained right and with proper love and care these dogs are GREAT and I mean GREAT companions
They are stubborn and can be territorial with strangers, but, they are very loving towards familiars and family
They are a kind of one or two people fits them kind of dog
They also need constant stimulus as they were breed to be very hardworking dogs
Rottweilers used to pull sleds full of butchered meat bc they were so strong and the original breed was much bigger than the one we know today
They also herded large livestock through the alps and Roman region and are known to be fearless
They are also one of the oldest dog breeds
These dogs became popular Police dogs during the World Wars
Bc they were being used so much their guardian qualities were more showcased so more and more people wanted one to help keep and eye on their children
Since they are herding dogs they are good around children and can keep them in a yard if they are taught the parameters
Rottweilers despite their size generally don't bark a lot either, they are very sneaky when approaching a possible threat and will ppun e from behind
This is why I think Daichi would have one to be by his side
I feel like Daichi would do a lot of research into a good companion and finding a good breeder to find one after deciding
He'd get one as a puppy and personally see to it's training, working with a pro the whole time
His dog would also be a great family protector when he's home with his spouse and possible children, if he ends up having any
Koushi Sugawara
Tumblr media
I feel like Koushi would be that really awesome teacher that has a really sweet and sociable pet that he brings in for the kids a lot
I feel Koushi would want soemthing small and cute so a rabbit of some sort would suit him well
Rabbits can be very loving with a small family most of the time or sometimes only one person
Rabbits are prey animals so some breeds wouldn't do well in a loud room full of young children
So what specific rabbit breed would suit his job?
So I chose the Harlequin Rabbit for Koushi
Harlequin rabbits are very social and loving towards owners and strangers alike
They also are known to be very silly, playful and very intelligent
They come in two colour types: Japanese and Magpie
The picture above is an example of Japanese while a Magpie can be colored in just about any other colour other than black nd orange like lilac, white, chocolate, blue and/or black
I feel like this specific type of rabbit would suit him so well as it would be comfortable around all those kids
Be very social and would be less likely to nip them
And it would be energetic enough to keep up with the kids
Koushi wouldn't just want a pet for his classroom though, he'd want a cuddle buddy for at home
He'd want a companion to sit on his lap while he works on lessons
He'd also want a pet that wasn't too lazy as his life would be pretty busy
The only thing is is that rabbits are high maintenance and need very specific foods, medicines, and an experienced vet to care for them
But rabbits are cuddly little crackheads that Koushi would adore
Energetic enough to keep up with his life, but snuggly and home bodied enough to not exhaust him
Asahi Azumane
Tumblr media
Asahi is a fashion designer and thus would spend a lot of time hunched over a sketch book making designs
In other words, he has a very home based and indoor job
So he'd need a pet that isn't energetic and obnoxious like a husky or chihuahua
So I chose the Havanese
Havanese is the national dog of Cuba
This dog may be small but they are incredibly sturdy
These dogs become attached quickly and are extremely loyal to said lone owner
Something else that is good for Asahi is these dogs do not do good alone and are willing to follow their owners to the ends of the Earth
They can be described as velcro dogs bc of how attach to the hip with their owners they are
These dogs can be lively and active but they don't need much exercise as they are smaller
Most of their daily exercise can be met in a house with some light play
Also, these dogs are extremely friendly towards strangers and can be described as good host dogs
Another plus for Asahi about this breed is they aren't particularly vocal, most are rather quiet and reserved almost
The last thing you'd want is for people to look down on you for letting your pet act spoiled by barking and nipping at people's ankles
They also love to perform for others
They like attention and are good in groups
Asahi would have to meet with a lot of new people like models and companies and whatnot so a social dog would be best
Asahi also would spend a lot of time in an office or at home and since these dogs don't need much exercise he would be able to have it sleep on his lap while he works without disturbance
I also feel like Asahi would become a bit of a hermit
Like he would contact people but he wouldn't leave his house unless he absolutely had to or wanted to (which isn't often)
Havanese are home-bodied dogs and love just chillin' out on a warm lap or on a couch cushion beside their owners
Yū Nishinoya
Tumblr media
Now I DO NOT think Noya should have a pet until he decides to settle down somewhere
Travel can really exhaust a person so it would harm an animal tenfold
So, if you travel a lot DO NOT GET A PET IT WILL ONLY HARM THEM
But if Yū were to have a pet.............................
Noya would need a pet that can travel well, is small enough to not cost a lot, is very attached to their owners, and can eat just about anything
I thought briefly of other rodents since rodents are generally small and can eat just about any food
But raccoons, possums, and other larger rodents that are more common for pets would be too hard to get on planes and boats since you need certification to own them
Rats on the other hand don't need such certifications in most countries and fill all the other requirements
The rat he would have isn't a Dumbo rat like in the picture above, he'd have like a wild rat that he befriended and decided to take with him so it'd most like be brown
Noya would 100% fight anyone who says they hate rats
He hypes up his pet rat to no end
He calls Asahi whenever he can and tells him about all the cool stuff his rat does and sends pictures of his rat being held up to a gorgeous background of famous landmarks in other countries
Nlya always has his rat around the back of his neck and wears a hoodie, scarf, or something like that to hide him so he can join Noya in places that don't allow pets
I also chose a rat bc they are incredibly loyal and I feel like if Noya were to be really tired on a plane and pass out, he would need a pet that he wouldn't have to worry about running away
Of course he has trained his rat to do amazing tricks, you already know
Also, as I previously mentioned, rats can eat just about anything, so his constant travel wouldn't hurt his companion diet
Rats are also quiet generally and aren't overly energetic so he wouldn't have to be worried about being escorted out for having a rat under his scarf
Chikara Ennoshita
Tumblr media
Shibas are very independent dog, let's just start with that bc Chikara would need a pet that doesn't need constant attention
With him being a personal trainer he needs a pet that can self entertain
Something else about Shibas is they can often housebreak themselves bc of how fussy and finicky they are
You can also find them cleaning themselves much like a cat
Chikara would be busy for a good bit of his time so he doesn't really have time to properly spend time to housebreak a pet
But Shibas were originally bred to hunt and flush out game like birds and rabbits and other such small animals
A fact about Shibas is they almost went extinct during WWII bc of food shortages a distemper
Distemper is a disease only animals can be affected by that attacks many different systems in their bodies
Also, Shibas are the number one most common companion dog in Japan
Something else about Shibas is that they are fairly healthy, some of the more major problems they have are glaucoma, cataracts, hip dysplasia, entropion, and luxating patella
A lot of eye conditions but are easily avoided if you bring them in for very periodic eye checks and hip examinations
So these are easy to avoid as long you keep an eye on them
Over all I think that if Chikara were to have a pet it would need to be fairly self-sufficient but also something could have a very chill and laid back relationship with
Something that doesn't need to be on his lap all the time but something he can love and nurture
Kiyoko Shimizu & Ryūnoske Tanaka
Tumblr media
Now I know I know
Ryu would be a dog person
He'd want a big manly pet not a cat blah blah blah
Kiyoko would definitely be a cat person
She wouldn't want a purebred and would probably find a box of some kittens with Ryu on the side of the sidewalk
Now look me in the eye and lie to me by saying that Ryu would now start crying immediately upon seeing like four lonely little kittens in a box that need a home
Needless to say, they take them home and nurture them endlessly
But Tanaka would be the kind of guy that harness trains his cats so they can go out on walks
Kiyoko would research how to harness train them, what food would be the best, and anything else they need to take care of these four cats
Imagine seeing these two, a big muscular dude and this goddess walking four cats on harnesses down the street
I literally cannot stop thinking about Ryu and Kiyoko cuddling on the couch with all four adult and rather large cats draping themselves across the two of them
I feel like the reason Ryu would want them harness trained is bc he wouldn't be able to spend much time with them
His job as a personal trainer would keep him busy
So on his morning jogs to stay fit he'd want to take not only Kiyoko but the cats as well
I plan on making more parts to this, I hope you enjoy it 😉

Part one
Part two
Part Three
Part Four
masterlist
I sprint to my place, going as fast as my feet allow it, and like I feared but expected, find a limousine waiting for me right outside.
“Give me 10 minutes,” I instruct over my shoulder, not giving the guards any time to protest.
I throw the door and go straight to the closet. Instead of neatly packing, I roll everything up and force it into my backpack. Next, I move to my desk to grab the tablet and folder I brought with me. As I rush downstairs, I mentally do a checklist of my belongings and, panting, I sit on the back of the car.
“Nailed it,” my voice is quiet but full of pride.
A headache hits me as soon as we begin moving; nausea and dizziness follow closely so I shut my eyes and try to drift off.
“Prince Ben is expecting you at the castle,” I groan at the driver’s announcement
“Please tell him I can’t go, I’m feeling a bit under the weather.”
“I apologize, lady Y/N, but I cannot do that. His highness said it was a matter of immediate importance.”
I breathe, “fine then.”
…..
After the familiar but pompous welcome at the entrance of the castle, without even greeting my parents, I’m escorted to Ben’s quarters; more specifically, his ‘office’.
I sit down in front of his workspace to wait for him; a few minutes later, he goest through the double doors, sporting the grin of the Cheshire Cat.
“Tell me everything.”
He walks to his desk and sits down expectantly.
I, however, don’t share his joyful mood. My arms fall to rest on his desk and my head follows, now resting on my elbows and facing down.
Completely disregarding the groan emitted by me, he whines, “Y/NNN.”
Another groan.
“You can’t leave me like this, you know?  How was it? Did you meet Maleficent? Jafar?” He gasps, “did you see the Huns’ Troops?”
“No, yes, and no;” I lift my head, so it remains over my elbows, but facing him. “I met the crew of the Black Pearl.”
“Seriously? That’s awesome, I mean scary, I mean… tell me everyth..  are you okay?” His eyes flicker from thrill to worry, and his left hand reaches out to my right arm.
“Just hungover, and really tired, I guess.”
The prince opens his mouth but decides against voicing his thoughts. I bet he was gonna say something about underage drinking, but reminded himself where I was. I chuckle, almost inaudibly.
“Do you wanna lay down for a bit? We still have a few hours before Snow White’s birthday,” he offers.
I nod, “yes please.”
He leads me to his room and helps me make the bed; then, he digs through the first drawer of his nightstand and takes out a small white pill.
“There’s a glass of water on the bathroom sink. I don’t really know how to get rid of a hangover, but I think this and a nap will do the trick.”
“Thanks Ben.”
It didn’t completely do the trick. After what I assume were a few hours of tossing and turning, I’m woken up by my alarm and find myself walking to the bathroom. The headache has lessened, but the sensation of discomfort is still lingering through my body.
I take a cold shower and get dressed. After achieving a simple, yet classy look with the makeup Audrey kept at Ben’s, I go out of his room and head downstairs.
….
So far, everything’s going great. Most people have been dancing all night and all the guests seem to be enjoying the music, the food, and everything else that the party offers. I, for one, danced with Herkie for a bit, and then grabbed a snack with Jane and Lonnie. Right now, I’m making my way back to our family table when I cross paths with my dad.
With the most kind and charming smile, and a stiff voice dripping with formality, he asks “May I have this dance, my lady?”
With a smile matching his, I bow and reply, “sure, dad.”
“Killjoy,” he frowns.
The music grows louder and faster; and before I know it, I’m being twirled around the dance floor guided by my dad’s expert moves.
“You know, the king was worried sick about you,” he says once we return to our original position.
I quirk a brow, “about me, or about me going all rogue and Vk?”
“What are you talking about?” he asks with a small laugh. “You’ve been going rogue ever since you met that kid Ben, totally a bad influence.”
“Yeah, right… Ben’s fault,” I smirk. “Ignoring the fact that I’m your daughter.”
Pretending to be offended, he gasps and snickers, “What are you suggesting young lady?”
“Oh, nothing, dad, nothing at all,” I play coy.
After laughing again, with a motion of his right hand, my dad spins me toward the center of the dance floor and I end up in the arms of none other than Chad Charming.
He tries to speak seductively, apparently forgetting that it’s me who he’s dancing with.
“Y/N,” he greets, making his voice come out an octave deeper.
“Chad,” I giggle, unable to help myself. Does that voice even work on anyone?
“You look great tonight.”
“You too,” I return the compliment. “ But you’d look even better if you didn’t use your macho voice with me.”
His chest vibrates with his chuckle; but, as we dance, his eyes fly across the room.
Already knowing that face, I inquire, “who’s your victim for tonight?”
“Victim? How low do you think of me?”
“I mean, with all due respect-,” this time, it is me who guides his hand, inviting him to spin me. “Who’s the unlucky lady who’s caught your eye?”
“Melody over there, she’s been totally flirting with me lately.”
My nose scrunches, then I point out, “hate to break it to you, but she’s dating the blond guy.”
His right hand abandons my back and he exaggeratedly points at his head, making a face that seems to taunt saying, “duh”.
I roll my eyes at him, “the other blond. The one she’s talking to.”
He shrugs, and voices in a sing-song manner, “don’t know, don’t care.”
“Chad, we don’t flirt with people with boyfriends.”
He pouts, “You’re no fun.”
The song finishes, so I decide to look for Ben; he’s with his dad, sitting at their table and talking.
I take a deep breath before I approach them, and walk to them with a smile.
“Your Majesty, Ben,” I greet.
“Y/N, we were just talking about you. Take a seat.” Ben sends me an apologetic look, after hearing his father’s words.
I thank him and sit down on the empty chair that he pointed to. After offering me some food and a glass of lemonade, the king begins, “I gather that your experience at the Isle was, well, invigorating; I’d love to hear every detail.”
My eyes drift over to the prince, silently asking him for help, but his only response is an encouraging smile.
……
“To be honest,” I take a sip of my tea, “my conversation with the king didn’t go half as bad as I thought it would. I spared the Harry part, and he actually seemed to be kind of proud of my “data compilation,” as he called it”.
The three fairies hum as they listen to my words. I came for routine lessons today, but they managed to get me spilling all the gossip.
“He said the only thing left to do was putting the plan into action, which took me out of guard, really.”
“We’re really proud of you, dear,” says Merrywether.
Flora stirs her tea, “but you need to know that the union of both lands won’t come with an exchange program for students.”
I shrug, smiling at her, “you’ve gotta begin somewhere. And I believe that, the way my trip to the Isle went will make everything else just flow into place.”
Merrywether makes a move to grab a biscuit, but decides against it and takes a handful instead. Settling them on her lap to eat them one by one, she presses, “Tell us everything, how’s the place? Is it true that they eat kittens for breakfast?” She gasps, “or, or that the pirates feed the intruders to their man-eating kraken?”
I chuckle at her fearful antics and explain. “I did find the place frightening, but the people are not as mean as they paint them to be. Well, of the ones I met, only Jafar…”
Flora seems taken aback, “you met… them? How many of them? Did they do something to you? Are you sure you’re not spelled or anything? I think we should scan you for dark magic.”
“Flora, I’m fine. Really.”
“But—”
“As I said, they’re not that bad. I actually got along well with the ones I met.” I claim, “Jack and Gil were really kind to me, just like Maestre Gibbs. I also spent some time with Jay, Jafar’s son, and Carlos de Vil. Oh, and there’s also Harry; when Fairygodmother told me about him, she warned me how vicious and dangerous he was but he was just a bit cocky."
Fauna sighs, grinning at me expectantly, but the joy of her expression falls when I continue; ”A pretty cool guy, actually."
At that moment, the three faes exchange a worried look.
"What is it?"
"It's just," Flora sighs, "we think he may be a bad influence on you, dear."
"Yeah, we've made such huge advances with your progress," agrees Fauna, "and it'd be a shame for--"
"For me to go evil?"
"No, honey, we didn't mean it like that," Merywether tries to mend it, but I know how they mean it; just like the king and queen do.
"Then, how did you mean it? Do you seriously trust me so little? And, and do you seriously think so low of the VKs?" I place my cup on the table, looking at them with disbelief.
“We’re glad that they were kind to you, but you can’t forget what they’re capable of, darling. They’re there for a reason.”
“Them, or their parents?”
With a wave of her wand, Merywether refills the teapot and tray. As she does so, Flora stands up and looks out the window; “Well you know, how’s the saying?, why cure it when you can prevent it.”
“Unbelievable,” I scoff at her words.
Fauna’s voice is soft, and her look is full of pity, “Darling, we just think there are better crowds for you to hang with.”
Unbelievable. However, I manage to smile at her and say, “you have nothing to worry about, I promise.”
They don’t seem to believe me, but refuse to press on the topic; so the three of them exchange looks and flora speaks up; “okay, dear, let’s get started, then.”
Not to be dramatic, but I would’ve preferred a sleeping curse over today's lesson. The first three hours are full of misguided spells, so I ask for a break.
”This isn't working, ” I groan; ”can we please practice something else?”
Merrywether sighs, “let’s work on some transfiguration spells, honey.”
I agree, hoping that it'll clear my mind. Without a word, I then summon a table with three vases, and concentrate to turn them into whatever the fairies instruct me to.
………….
The next day, the sound of my phone wakes me up early; Ben's ready to reveal who he has chosen for the exchange program that we planned, and he asked me to be there when he tells his parents. So, right after breakfast with Aunt Charlotte, I drive to the castle, practically jump out of my car, and sprint to the Prince's Chambers.
Without announcements, I dive through the door; he smiles, "okay, now that we're all here, I'd like to make my first royal proclamation."
Oh don there'll be time for royal decrees, i cant believe you'll be king next month. Sixteen's to young to be king.
You'll do great, Im sure belle
I just smile at him, anf take a seat on the edge of his bed, giving him a nod
He chuckles, but as the words leave his mouth, all the smiles in the room are replaced by serious looks; except for mine. "As you know, I've decided that the kids of The Isle of the Lost are to be given a chance to leave here in Auradon."
Beast's comprehensive and caring facade quivers, as he points out the window, "I know we've spoken about this, but you are talking about the children of our sworn enemies living among us. Such risk cannot be taken."
"Every time I look out to the isle I, I feel like they've been abandoned. They're out there paying for something their parents did and it's time to do something about it." His words are full of confidence and compassion, he's gonna make the best king this people have ever seen. "They deserve a second chance, and I've already chosen the ones who'll inaugurate the program."
"Have you?" the king's voice is challenging, but he calms down when his wife speaks up; "I gave you a second chance," she reminds.
"Children of Jafar," Belle gasps, "Evil Queen, Cruella de Vil, and Maleficent." He doesn't hesitate.
I'm proud of him, but my smile becomes a bit forced when I hear his chosen VKs; it wouldn't be frank to say that I wouldn't've prefered for the pirates to come.
"Maleficent!?," roars Beast, "she is the most feared and vicious villain of the land. Her and those people are guilty of atrocities."
Suddenly, Ben's voice becomes pleading "But their children are innocent, don't you think they deserve another shot?"
The king hesitates,
"You gave me a second chance," I say. His eyes soften as he looks at me. Even if they can be too proud to admit it, the king and queen of Auradon have shown me such affections dignified for a daughter; it would be a lie to say that they didn't care for me.
He tries to toughen up again, but our imploring looks convince him otherwise.
"I guess their children are innocent. "
Ben smiled once again, "thanks dad, you won't regret it."
The day of the VK's arrival comes, and everything was perfectly organized; the band was playing and students and teachers were waving with excitement. You'd say that they all supported the young prince's decision; at least they pretend well (speaking of hypocrite). I chuckle as I look through the school window; even from here, I can see Ben's expression of excitement and Audrey's almost permanent plastic grin. The limo hasn't arrived yet, so I decide to grab a bite before the newcomers arrive.
After finishing my sandwich, I rush down the stairs to meet Ben, and bump into him as soon as I start descending.
"Oh, there you are, guys; come down," he smiles. I look behind me and find Doug strolling down the stairs.
 "These are Doug and-"
"Y/N?" Carlos chirps, to which I respond with a smile and a wave.
"You know them?" Audrey questions, "Ben, she-"
"Relax, I'll explain later," he places a hand on her arm lovingly, "As you guys already know each other, Y/N and Doug will show you the rest of the school and will help you with your class schedules."
"Hey, guys, I'm Doupy's son; and this is Y/N, but you already know her, I guess, so," his voice is shaky and his eyes are changing constantly between me and them.
They look at me quizzically, "I'll explain later. Doug, these are Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil, Jay, son of Jafar; Mal, daughter of Maleficent; and Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen."
Doug takes a deep breath, "Great that we know each other; now, I already signed you up for all of your classes so feel free to ask any questions that you have."
"I have one," Mal smirks at me. "Does your pirate boyfriend know you're a pretty princess or did you,"she gasps mockingly," lie to him?"
In that moment, a glare replaces my comfortable smile and electric green sparks slither through my fingers; "I'll be happy to answer all of your school-related questions."
We walk down the hall in a tense silence, until we arrive at the last door of the building; "So, this is it," Doug smiles at Mal and Evie.
They wave and get inside, then I turn around and begin to walk away.
'' Aren't we getting the room next-door?" asks Carlos.
"Nope, now, c'mon," I grin, can't wait to show them their room; they're gonna love it.
I practically jump through the hall and into their room; also the last one down the hall but in the boys' side.
I open the wooden door and get inside, everything is neatly organized but the color pallette is a bit darker than it is for the rest of the rooms. Aside from that, it has the same things as the rest, including the console connected to the flatscreen tv on the wall.
They look at everything in awe, and take no time to throw themselves on the beds. "This is, wow," breathes Carlos; Jay agrees, bouncing on the mattress.
"This," I grab the console controls, "is the best part of all. It comes with 600 games and I'm sure that, if you play the proxy right, you'll have like 400ish more."
The boys come closer to the tv and look at it curiously, "it's like the one you showed me back home, the tablet?"
"Yup, just like that," I throw the control at Jay; "try it."
"Thanks Y/N, I mean, uh, bye."
Jay begins playing, and Carlos sits on a couch besides him; "no, really, thanks Y/N.''
"Bye, guys."
……..
I toss Chad his jacket without looking up from the book I'm reading. He and Ben have a tourney game against the falcons in a few hours and, given that Audrey and I have to cheer through it as well, the four of us decided to gather and work on some homework. Nevermind; Ben, Audrey and I are working on homework while Chad scrolls through the phone his dad just got him.
After Chad breathes out a 'thanks', the room falls silent, but Audrey complains, "I just don't think they belong here."
"Who?," Asks Chad.
"The teaching staff," I mock, "the VKs, you moron."
Ben sighs, putting his shoes back on; "oh, come on, they haven't done anything to us. They're not that bad."
"Ben, their parents are villains; that makes them evil too."
This time, I do place my book down to look at her, "You don't even have a point there; have you forgotten who my mom was?"
"It's different Y/N, you were raised here; and you're not evil, you're our friend;" she smiles at me.
Chad takes a drink of water from his bottle, "well, evil or not, Evie's kinda hot; and she's a nerd too. Got her to do all my chemistry homework."
I scoff, "such a gentleman."
"Seriously, guys, have any of you had a decent conversation with them? They're just like us," Ben insists.
"Y/N has," Audrey points out, placing her pink notebook inside her bag. "In fact, she knows the two boys. You never told us, Y/N/N, why were they so friendly with you when they got here."
Hearing Audrey's question, the three of us share a dissimulated look, and I explain. "Before school started, I went to check The Isle, spent a few days there, no big deal."
"It was all a plan so I could prepare my proclamation, Y/N went there and, based on what she saw, I chose the four VKs that joined the program."
Audrey's mouth is agape, but Chad keeps no mind of our conversation.
"You don't look surprised, Chad," she digresses. "Why don't you look surprised?"
"Only the three of us knew about it, we kept it secret so his dad wouldn't stop us."
"And you didn't tell me? Your girlfriend?"
"I-"
Placing my hair into a ponytail, I question, "Would've you let us go through with it?"
She glares at the three of us, but sighs "no."
She giggles, but we all know to look past that, "Well, your choice couldn't have been worse, Bennyboo."
We get out of the boys' dorm and begin to make our way to our lockers; "what matters is that the choice is made," I shrug.

I always see posts about how awesome humans are in pretty much every way. But lately I've been wondering what would happen if an alien met someone, say, wheelchair bound, or missing a limb. How would aliens, or an alien captain for that matter, handle seeing one of these unstoppable humans that's been crippled, maybe even since birth? I bet it'd be a bit of a trip.
I’m sure an alien race wouldn’t be unfamiliar with birth defects or deformities. Oh, I just thought of something! It’s not really what you asked for but it’s neat, I think. (sorry this answer is so late, I hope you’re still here!)
Imagine some alien being born with a disability. In their society, any sort of disability or deformity renders you pretty much useless in the eyes of the government. Those born with disabilities or who acquire them usually work the worst of the worst jobs and are payed next to nothing. Keep reading to see a more in-depth story.
Aro was always considered the outsider. As a young hatchling, he was not allowed to attend school with his more abled peers. Instead, he learned with the other Rejects. Rejects of different age groups all shared one teacher, who had to split her time between all of them. As such, their education was severely lacking when compared to the more privileged children. He was barred from entering university when the time came because he was deemed unfit due to his disability.
He found his first prosthetic in a waste bin. It was broken and uncomfortable, but it allowed him to finally apply for a job in a factory as a sanitary worker. He worked long hours on his feet, and his wages were miserable. At the end of each day, his hips would hurt from the height difference between his real and prosthetic legs, and he had bruises and blisters where his prosthetic fit incorrectly against his skin.
Aro’s biggest dream as a hatchling had been to become an engineer for the Federation, but given his disability, he was not allowed anywhere near the Space Center. He had always been interesting in tinkering and mechanics, and used his natural skills in those areas to repair his prosthetic, but once he started working, he was unable to pursue his passion. Aro had given up on that dream long ago, but when rumors started spreading through the factory that a group of Federation warships were coming to resupply on their planet, Aro couldn’t help the fantasies that flooded his mind. He dreamed of spending his days in a ship’s interior, unaware of the heat, where he would get to know and work with the mechanisms that made those beautiful ships run.
As the day of the resupply drew closer, Aro began to hear whispers of an all-Terran crew on one of the warships. The Terrans were highly regarded throughout the Federation as being practically unstoppable. They were amazing healers, and would run head-first into danger with no regard for their health. It was scary to think that nothing would slow them down. Aro had never met one before, but it was hard to imagine that such an intense race of creatures would have any place for a Reject like him. Upon hearing that a crew of them would be with the Federation warships, Aro became increasingly nervous about their visit. The ships would visit his factory for much needed parts, and Aro regretfully decided to take the day off. The Terrans would be disgusted to see a Reject like himself, and he wanted his planet to give them the best first impression as possible. He had wanted to see the warships, but, he did not want to shame his people.
On the day of the resupply, just as Aro was leaving the factory, he passed by a large group talking in hushed tones. They silenced when he approached, but not before he caught someone finish, “-captain is a Reject.”
This thought was met with disbelief and shock rippling through the crowd. Someone in the center spoke up. “A Terran? Not possible. They would not allow their reputation to be tarnished in that way.” He looked pointedly at Aro, who had slowed his walk so as hear the conversation better. At the other’s glance, Aro turned his eyes down and walked away, his mind swimming.
A Reject Terran? And a captain, no less. Aro could not believe his ears. Like his coworker said, the Terrans would never allow a Reject to hold such a highly respected position.
Lost in his thoughts, Aro must have made a wrong turn somewhere, and when he realized where he was, it was already too late. Somehow, he had ended up in the hangar, where the Federation warships were already docked. The hangar crew were already running around cleaning the ships and running maintenance checklists, preparing for their relaunch at the end of the day. Aro’s heart was beating in his chest. He knew he shouldn’t be here, but he couldn’t help himself from stepping further into the hangar. He had never seen a Federation ship up close before, and he was in awe of the beauty of the large warships in front of him.
No one seemed to notice him approach the closest one from the back. He reached up reverently to touch to cool metal of the thrusters. He did not notice when someone came up behind him.
“Beautiful, isn’t she?” Aro jumped and yanked his hand away at hearing the choppy voice, obviously spoken through a translator.
Sure enough, when he turned around, there was a Terran with a translator wrapped in front of his mouth. He was sitting in a chair with large wheels. Was he tired? And why did the chair need wheels? Only then did Aro notice that the man was wearing a Federation captain’s uniform.
How does one act around a captain? Aro did not know. Should he bow, as is customary when speaking to an Elder? Hastily, he bent at the waste and lowered his eyes in submission. He cleared his throat and bunched his fists to keep his hands from shaking.
“S-sir, I apologize. I did not see you behind me.” He swallowed the lump forming in his throat, and shifted his weight to conceal his crude prosthetic. The captain would be furious to find out a Reject was allowed near his ship. He spoke again without lifting his eyes. “The ship is beautiful, Sir,” he confirmed quietly, but meaning every world.
The captain chuckled, which surprised Aro enough that he looked up at the Terran. He had a warm smile on his face, but had not gotten up from his chair to return Aro’s bow. “There’s no need to bow, son,” he said, which caused Aro to cringe in embarrassment and stand up hesitantly.
“Your people are awfully fond of that,” the captain continued, “but a simple handshake will do.”
He extended his hand, and it was obvious that he intended for Aro to do the same. Aro was unfamiliar with Terran customs, and did not know what to do after that. Luckily, the captain completed the gesture by grasping Aro’s hand in his and jostling it firmly up and down once before letting go. He still did not stand from his chair.
“What’s your name, son? Are you interested in the ship?” asked the captain.
Aro’s nerves were going haywire. He remembered what the others in the factory had said. The captain is a Reject. Could this be him?
“M-my name is Aro, Sir,” Aro stuttered.
It took a moment for the captain to respond while he waited for the translator to convert Aro’s words into the Terran language. Finally, he smiled. “Nice to meet you, Aro. My name is Captain Brewster, but most people just call me Brew.”
Aro caught a hint of the Terran language just seconds before the translator said them. It was more breathy and less harsh than his. It lacked the hard clicks and stops that made his language difficult for others to learn. In that moment, he desperately wished to know Terran.
The captain continued. “So how long have you worked here, Aro?”
“Three years, Sir.”
“Any interest in space travel?”
The question threw him off. Aro could not think of why Captain Brewster would ask something like that.
Luckily, the captain explained. “You seem to like my ship.”
“Y-yes, Sir. I do like engineering.” Aro looked away shyly.
Captain Brewster smiled again. “Would you like to see something? Follow me.”
Without waiting for an answer the captain started moving around the back side of his warship. Aro watched him grab the wheels of his chair and push down, which moved him forward. He followed slowly, attempting to hide his limp. Captain Brewster wheeled up and into the ship and Aro followed after the captain urged him that it was alright. The captain guided him to the side of the ship near the hatch switch. The metal wall in this area was etched with hundreds of markings in languages that Aro did not recognize.
“Whenever we fly to a new planet,” the captain explained, “I like to get a message from a planet native carved right here, so that every time we go out, I am reminded of all the people we’re fighting for.”
Aro nodded along, studying the scrawlings that covered nearly half the wall.
“Would you like to write something here?” the captain asked bluntly.
Aro startled back, and his eyes went wide. “S-sir, I could not. It would not be right,” he apologized.
The captain tilted his head in confusion. “Why not?”
Here it was. Aro would have to reveal his undesireable condition to the captain. He could not ignore a question from a Federation captain.
“I-I have a condition, Sir.” Aro’s voice got quieter as he spoke. “I was born with no right leg. I am a Reject. I am unfit to even be talking with you now. I apologize for disrespecting you so.” He bowed again in an attempt to hide the tears welling in his eyes.
“A Reject? Aro, I promise you, you are anything but disrespectful. Now stand up.”
Aro did as he was told, and found that Captain Brewster had moved his chair closer to him.
“If I am correct, a Reject is your peoples’ term for someone with a disability, yes?”
Aro only nodded. He could not find his voice.
“And this makes you less of a person than others?” Aro nodded, now terrified of where this was going.
To his surprise, the captain reached up and placed his hand on Aro’s shoulder. He looked into his eyes as he spoke next. “That’s bullsh*t. If that’s what your people think of guys like me, then you’re wrong.”
Realizing what he said, he added hastily, “I apologize, Aro.” He moved away from Aro and folded his hands in your lap. “I’ve worked hard to get to where I am today. I don’t like that people like me are denied from pursuing their dreams just because of a stupid disability. And people like you.” Captain Brewster was looking at Aro directly in the eyes, expecting a response.
Aro blinked, then asked hesitantly, “S-sir? If I may ask, a-are you a Reject?”
The captain nodded. “But I don’t like that word. It’s demeaning.”
Aro worried that he angered the captain, but he looked more sad than anything else.
“Aro, would you like to be an engineer?”
Aro was unprepared for the blunt question. He thought his dream was dead, but at the captains words, he knew he was still just as passionate as ever.
“Yes, Sir,” he said, more confidently than anything he said before.
Captain Brewster smiled knowingly. “Why don’t you write something here.” He gestured to the wall. “I’ll see what I can do.” The captain winked and wheeled away.
Aro stood in shock, not knowing what to do. After a moment, he heard the hangar crew shouting outside, and knew that the warships were preparing to leave. Pulling a screwdriver from a pocket in his pants, he scratched a short message into the wall and hurried out of the hangar, just in time to see this ships take off.
He spent many restless nights mulling over his strange conversation with Captain Brewster and thinking about what it might mean. Weeks passed and soon, Aro had all but forgotten the conversation. The captain was just being polite. He probably couldn’t wait to be away from Aro as soon as possible.
Then one day, after coming home from a particularly grueling day at work, Aro noticed a thick green envelope poking out of his mailbox. When he opened it, several papers and a photo fell out. The photo was of Aro’s message on Captain Brewster’s ship, which Aro found confusing. He set it aside to read the letter, and his heart rate increased the more he read.

Academic Advisor
IU College of Engineering
Aro looked again at the photo, and on the back, a short note was written sloppily in Aro’s own language.
Aro, I pulled some strings and got you into IU! I could see the passion in your eyes, and I would have beat myself up if I didn’t help you out somehow. Call me at (123) 456-7890 when you get to Terra so we can meet up!
                                                      - Captain James “Brew” Brewster
P.S. I loved your note. “Mistakes are just happy accidents. Our meeting was no mistake, but it was happy nonetheless.” Very Bob Ross of you.
Aro did not know who this Bob Ross was, but he assumed it was a Terran compliment.
He could not believe it. His dream of becoming a Federation engineer was finally coming true, and he could not wait to start.

Manchester garage punks, Tinfoils, George from the band tells us about their latest single, their money raising effort for BLMUK and how a game of pool completed the band...
Tumblr media
Alright hope you’re doing well through this shit time.
Can you tell us who Tinfoils are and where did the name come from?
TINFOILS are a mardy northern bastard garage punk band based in Manchester. There's three of us, and we've all moved here from Yorkshire.
The name came from when I was on an X Files hype. Thought it was a good name for a band, so I just got the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages before we'd even done a rehearsal! I think it was before we even met Will. I just thought it was a good name, the other two agreed and we ran with it.
Sounds like you had confidence in this band early on then. How did you find Will and what has he brought to the band?
I don't know if I had loads of confidence in the band before we started really, I just thought the name was cool! We didn't really take it very seriously for a long time, took us about 6 months to bother looking for a gig. Was just an excuse to meet and get pissed up at first.
Me and Alex had known each other for a while, and went to a pub in Fallowfield. We were having a game of pool, when two blokes came up and asked if they could play doubles because no other tables were free. We agreed, and one of them turned out to be Will. After that they invited us to some flat party, and at about 6 in the morning on some unknown persons kitchen worktop he mentioned he played bass. We met up a couple of days later and the rest is history.
He's an amazing bassist, and his love for funk has a massive impact on every song I write. Tunes always come out sounding better once I show them to Will and Alex.
Love the bass lines in your songs, The Abyss, especially. Could’ve been a different story if you and Alex decided that was your last game of pool and just handed it to Will and his mate!
Like The Blinders, you also (and I think one or two others have followed suit) made the journey from Doncaster to Manchester. How much of a difference has that made to you and the band?
Definitely! All credit for that goes to our mate Breezy to be fair, he was the one who suggested doubles. He drops it in to conversation every time he's trying to convince us to come out.
Yeah I moved from Doncaster about 5 years ago, I do love it to bits but I wouldn't have been able to do half the stuff I wanted to if I'd stayed. Wouldn't have met Alex and Will, and probably wouldn't have ended up starting a band. There are some decent bands in Doncaster but a lot of it was indie stuff at the time, which I do like but not something I was interested in doing. The music scene in Manchester is amazing at the moment, there's so much music and it's all really different and interesting. Best place for music in the country at the moment I reckon.
Manchester is definitely a great place for music but I think the UK in general has a really good music scene at the moment with loads of good bands about! Though places like Manchester have some unreal venues and bands love playing there.
I wanna talk about your latest single ‘Spitting’ which was released during lockdown. Absolutely love that track! You went to Magic Garden to record it. What did recording it there bring to the song?
Cheers mate, we're really happy with it. I think it added a lot going to Magic Garden, Gavin's brilliant. First of all, it's just way higher quality than anything else we've put out, and I think it manages to sound a lot like we do live. Gavin also suggested we add some vocals in to middle 8 bit, which was originally just instrumental. I quickly wrote something down on a bit of scrap paper in a few minutes, and recorded it in one take, and that's the take in the final song. It's the whole "lap me up I'm stagnant water" bit. We'll hopefully get some more tunes recorded soon, would love another trip to the garden. The music video for the song is just clips of our time at the studio mixed in with some live clips, had a really good time there.
Tumblr media
I hear quite a few bands speak highly of him and his influence on their time in his studio. He does seem to get great results.
You recently released some songs on bandcamp that were live demos if I remember correctly. Are they going onto Spotify at any point and also will you be recording any of these? Peeping Tom is probably one of my favourites of yours.
Yeah they're a load of demos we did at Dead Basic Studios last year, we thought it was a shame to have them just lying about. We decided to put them out and donate all the money from Bandcamp Day to BLMUK, every little helps doesn't it. They won't be going on Spotify, but I reckon we'll probably record a couple of them properly one day. Peeping Tom's a bit of a favourite, would love to get that recorded in a studio but there's a million tempo changes so I think it'd probably be tricky to nail down. Its one of my favourites to play live, especially when we're headlining and get the chance for a self-indulgent 10 minute jam with a big sing-a-long. The demos will stay on Bandcamp for the foreseeable, but I think we'll probably take them off at some point.
Tumblr media
A great cause, did you manage to raise much? Some really good tracks on there would love to here them recorded like you say.
So what are the bands plans once lockdown is relaxed to a point bands and musicians to get out there and do proper stuff without fear again?
Yeah we raised about £60-70 I think? It was only for the day, when Bandcamp waived their fees. Props to Lewis from Dead Basic for recording and mixing them all.
First things first we need to get in for a rehearsal! I've written a load of new songs which I'm looking forward to working out, I think it'll be a lot of new tunes in the set list when we're back gigging. Hopefully reschedule our tour that had to be postponed, play some tunes, get some recording done, and go out and see some bands! Just got to hope it's not too far off.
That’s awesome! Excited about the new tunes and future recordings...and gigs again obviously.
Hopefully you can squeeze a rearranged gig for us on the tour!
You mentioned how highly you rate the Manchester scene. Which bands should people go and see once bands get to gig again?
There's a tonne of bands to go and see, to name a few: Loose Articles, Blanketman, The Early Mornings, Swine, Springfield Elementary, Giant Boys, The Red Stains, Cold Water Swimmers, and loads of others. There's a lot of different styles about but I do feel like there's a sort of coherent feeling between all the bands around here at the minute. It got to the point just before pandemic where no matter which venue or what day, if you turned up you'd probably see something amazing. Fingers crossed it all survives the lockdown!
Tumblr media
There’s some good bands there, really like Springfield Elementary and Swine what I’ve heard of them and also Red Stains. I need to check the others out but we’re very lucky to have so many good bands about and more people these days that are very much into new music!
We’re gonna end the interview with some quick fun questions...
Favourite album/EP of this year?
I'm gonna go with either Zero Dollar Bill by Do Nothing, or The Non-Stop EP by Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard. Can't pick between them!
Also really looking forward to Fontaines DCs new album, and Idles, and The Blinders.
If Tinfoils could tour with any band alive or dead who would it be?
Would love to go on tour with Fontaines DC, Idles or Sleaford Mods. If I had to pick between them, at the moment probably Fontaines. Loving their last few singles, and Dogrel was banging.
Ah wait, Thee Oh Sees! Maybe Oh Sees actually. Any of the above would allow me to die happy.
Tumblr media
Is there a song that at least one member isn’t keen on in the set but are outnumbered?
I don't really like The Royal Baby Machine that much, but the other two do.
Chinese food or Indian?
Indian
Lager or Real ale?
Ale, but more of a standard bitter to be honest. Not West Coast passionfruit and jasmine infused with lemongrass IPA stuff, it's rank and I don't get it. Give me a pint of John Smiths over that wank any day.
Festival you’d love to play?
Wouldn't turn down Glasto!
Last one...
Best live band you’ve seen?
Best live band I've seen is probably Idles.
Alex, our drummer says Cabbage at Night & Day was probably the best gig he’s been to recently
Thanks to George from Tinfoils for chatting to us! You can listen to their music on all the streaming services and go and visit their social media pages. Here is their latest effor, Spitting.
