[ID: Two sets of digital drawings of Curly from Mouthwashing. The first image is three waist-up drawings of him smiling while wearing a dark blue Pony Express hockey jersey with yellow and red accents. The first drawing has him pointing at the back of the jersey where it says "Captain Curly" with a big 01, the second has him crossing his arms, and the third has him giving a thumbs up, showing the front Pony Express logo better.
The second image is three full body drawings of him in different outfits. The first is him in the jersey, brown cargo pants, and his usual boots and belt. The second is him in a light blue western-style button up, jeans, cowboy boots, and his belt. And the third is him in a white David Bowie t-shirt, red and yellow shorts, white crew socks, and light blue sneakers while he curls 50 pound weights. end ID]
~~~~
a customer came into my store wearing a hockey jersey and i was like "whoa that's so curly mouthwashing core" and then i kept doing outfits. i'd like to do the rest of the gang as well at some point
erm I've actually been nervous to post my Arcana theories here but I really like this one if you'll fuck with me on this
I think that like, the way the characters use magic? is actually based on the Minor Arcana. let me explain
the suit cards, to my understanding, have an elemental association and an overarching thing they relate to in a reading. I'll list out the elemental association of each suit and the traits associated with it, to the best of my ability, drawing from multiple sources including the official Arcana tarot guide, and then when I'm done with that I'll explain how this correlates to the magic systems present in the game
Cups ☕️💧
this one is associated with water, and it relates to matters of the heart, emotions. as well as connections to other people, spirituality and adaptability
Swords 🗡🌬
is associated with air, and deals with internal dialogues, logic, and intuition. it also has associations with decision making and intelligence
Wands 🪄🔥
this one is associated with fire and emphasizes willpower, self reliance, and the ability to take direct action. there's a lot of strong emotions associated with this one, it's a passionate suit
Pentacles ⭐️🍃
is associated with earth and deals with the tangible things in one's life, physical things. it also represents hard work, stability, and practicality
NOW THAT IVE EXPLAINED THAT let me explain how this fits into the way characters will use magic
Asra 💧
i dont think *matters of the heart* represents anyone better than Asra, how about you 😉? not to mention his magic is described as feeling like rain, he communicates through water, he can MAKE water in the desert, in the gladiator battle they can control it too iirc, AND his personal gate is full of pools of water. their teachings also seem extremely emotion based in a way that's hard for me to explain, a very "believe it will happen and it will happen" kind of way to using magic (God I wish I could articulate this better but luckily the others will be easier to explain) all of this would mean they would be operating under the Cups magic system
Nadia 🌬
Intuition is her whole thing! of course she'd be the swords (also notable that Nadia is great with a sword) intelligence also screams Nadia, she knows 12 languages and when she first met the High Priestess all she wanted to do was figure out how the realm worked because it wasn't scientifically accurate to her. decision making is also fitting considering she is the Countess
Lucio 🔥
Lucio is actually a little bit bad at magic according to Asra, so I won't be relying on him entirely for this (you'll see) however, it should be noted that when Lucio summons Vlastomil, he does so by setting a fire and then cutting open the bottoms of his feet. this mirrors how Morga uses magic, like once she cuts open her palm to catch her own spear on fire, and there is no hesitation in the way Morga uses magic, like rushing into portals (not for recklessness, but because she's so sure of herself) and another time she breaks the Devil's chains via extremely precise spear throw, something Asra is impressed by. so! I think the wands suit fits just perfectly when we consider direct action and self reliance in reference to Morga, and I suppose by extension Lucio, if he practiced a bit more
Muriel 🍃
his magic is actually described as feeling earthy at at least three different points, and the way he casts magic is very interesting as well. runecasting, which is described in the game as Muriel throwing a rock and interpreting the meaning. which is a very physical, grounded way to use magic. not to mention the myrrh and protection charms he uses- those are also extremely tangible things, naturey things so I think it aligns perfectly with the Pentacles. I would even argue that Mazelinka falls under this magic system, since she uses plants to make her potions- which is also a tangible way to do magic- pulling from your environment and such
so yeah I just thought that was interesting 🤔
You gotta post your Tombsona!!! Or at least tell me about it :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eheheh okay okay,, this reminds me I need to go. Fix my AF page for it but :)\/ my creepy bastard of a tombsona.
RAZE
(verb: to completely destroy (a building, town, or other settlement).)
Sort of foil to Armstrong (my fave the loml) they're like. The atomic part of the atomic age. Instead of Space Race Era Scifi its more based on Scifi horror like War of the Worlds or Bodysnatchers (Uncanny Valley Speedrunner, truly a giver of heebies and jeebies all around.)
They're specifically representative of like. Joyful Nihilism. Fuck-It-All incarnate. I'm not!! Entirely sure about its relationship to its hosts yet (Like what attracts it to people yk?) But alas
As for like. Inter-media relations: Tesla & it are doing horrifying science partners, it and Armstrong are Being Horrifying Creatures under there partners and it and Rust are lighting shit on fire buddies 🤙✨️
Anyway yeah,, I luv themb and I should draw them again hmmm
i would like to know more about hn talon's feathery ailment ... is it their demonic nature clashing with the angelic blood that is resulting in their worsening condition ? is there a reason why it is specifically feathers / bird-likeness as opposed to anything else ( i.e. would other demons undergo similar transformations if they also got contaminated with angel blood ) ? can you share more about how you envision the progression and prognosis ? will it kill them or will there be some sort of final stage of their transformation ( whether that's a bad thing because it only gets worse and worse , or a good thing because maybe now that it is complete , they won't be in as much pain and discomfort 🥺 ) ? is it at all affected by whatever they're doing / thinking / feeling / experiencing ( tamagotchi talon ... ) ? what do they do to manage their condition ? does it make them self-conscious or feel badly about their physical appearance ?
Tumblr media
"-But it looks like the angels ain't done with you."
I don't recommend that anyone ingests angel blood (good thing that's a difficult thing to do these days) but I wouldn't want to definitively say how it works for anyone else either. and I think it makes sense if talon isn't too sure either, with not meeting anyone else in a similar predicament as they (yet... will get to this later) but say if it were another angel Talon had attacked and drank the blood of, I believe they would still be having similar symptoms, as angels are quite feathery beings (varus with his arm of feathers, irelia with her wings and other choicely placed feathers.) But the particular angel they stole from has had a specific impact on just how the blood has changed them.
The reason for their worsening condition is because the blood has a powerful influence, like an undiluted acid. And it is so dramatic of an change because this influence is the polar opposite to their demonic existence. The more that Talon fights against the changes, the less symbiotic the blood and their demonic nature melds, the more violent and painful the experience is for them. And without any interference either with understanding or other experiences, I see it as a bitter, drawn-out struggle. Just wallowing in fatalism until Talon is nothing more than an unrecognisable pile of bile, blood, and feathers that tore itself apart...
Fortunately for them, the more Talon interacts with their rotting world and the people (and creatures) also struggling in it, the more they will come to terms with their own potential, and reflect on how they can be something more than what they once were. Learning that they don't have to let their worst action define their existence. More than just accepting what they did, and putting in the effort to understand emotions and how to be an active part of life, will mean they are not stubbornly fighting against their affliction. This will increase the speed of it's progression, but also be far less painful of an experience since they won't be actively fighting against it. When Talon is unable to call upon any of their demonic abilities anymore, the physical changes of the affliction will be complete, but they will continue to learn and better themself in an attempt to make up for all the wrong and pain they have caused in their existence. I can picture this happening in two or three decades time, in which there is no longer any hellfire, brimstone or summoned weapons. Talon is no longer a demon, but maybe by then they'll also know if the powers that be would accept a malformed, inexperienced, makeshift samaritan as a stand-in. But that's a hopeful thought, thinking they'll live that long.
Going back to the symptoms of the affliction. Previously, Talon's form was one of shadow and brimstone, and they were able to phase in and out of being corporeal at will. Over time, this ability has been weakened - only able to vanish as a shadow for a moment at a time. Brimstone skin was made brittle until it fell away to soft flesh, hollow bone, and hair. Feathers have begun sprouting through this softer skin too, mostly across their left shoulder, arm and chest, but are beginning to sprout along their throat too. Talon used to pull them out by hand, but has forfeited the fight. Back to the left arm, a sort of carapace has begun to form over their left hand, along the thumb's metacarpal and back of the hand in layers of grey ash and weathered gold. This and the growth of the feathers is very similar to Varus' - the angel in which Talon killed and drunk the blood of - own feathers and angelic arm. But without any of the matching powers, it is a far less grand sight.
Although still considerably hot to the touch, Talon's core temperature has drastically lowered compared to the past. Whatever organs of malice and bile a demon has have made way for a growth in their chest, helping pump the foul angelic blood and pesky emotions around their body routinely, and push out more of their demonic essence every day, little by little. With this, it has already made their demonic powers incredibly weakened. Previously Talon also used to be able to disintegrate bodies with a slice of their hellish blades, but they just do not run hot enough anymore. The final physical symptom are their eyes. Once filled with hellfire, it is far more likely nowadays to see their extinguished, golden-brown irises instead. It is slightly controllable with their emotional state, or when using their powers though.
In other ways, the blood has made Talon far more empathetic, given them a conscience. Troubled with how their actions will effect others now, the suffering and cruelty of the world has become a pain all it's own. Dulling the delight in spreading fear and even disturbing the once simple exchange of souls, Talon is often contemplating their next course of action instead of only giving thought to their best interests. And how their previous, often violent actions, have caused so much.
The agony and illness of coughing up feathers and demonic bile leaves talon haggard and frail. Getting sleep and relaxation would help the most, but with their paranoia it is difficult for them to find places to fully lower their guard and properly rest. Talon's tried to get a room in the crossroad saloon before, but it's... never really worked out (Gragas doesn't let them). Hating and damning the ailment only makes it worse, since it's basically like trying to separate themself from something that has already been mixed in. Feathers get stuck in their many teeth, skin itches from keratin growing in. Fatigue and sensitivity to their own heartbeat. Talon tries their best to hide the majority of their symptoms. Their coughs and exhaustion are the most obvious.
For how the changed made by the affliction is making talon feel... I'm going to paraphrase from a previous message;
I say its dysmorphic but the more I think about it, it's also… having your health decline and your body changing along with it, at least with talons perspective right now since they're losing their demonic powers. dysphoric in the way that they're still holding on to the thought that this isn't what they're supposed to be, they're Supposed to be a being of shadow and hellfire not flesh and bone, let alone feathers and sympathy. so I want it to be much more about accepting that this is their body now moreso than finding a way to reverse the changes. That it's okay to change with age and wisdom as you open yourself up more to the world.
At this time, Talon misses being completely monstrous, of being frightening and having that implicit respect. They feel weaker than they really are because they continue to compare themself to the long-gone height of their power, and because their new physical changes make them feel vulnerable. Being constantly exhausted also doesn't help with any of this. Beyond this though, the only other thing they don't like about these changes is just that; it's different. The uncanny features still don't feel like that that's who they are, and there is this disconnect when others react to them, or comment on their looks.
poses I don't know, maybe Talon just needs some sort of big motivation to no longer see this affliction as a curse, but as an opportunity to be more than a demon that skulks in the shadows. And some encouragement that yes, that is in fact a good thing. Maybe like an ultimatum of some sorts.
Dear silm fandom, concerning Fandom meta. Might be provocative for some.
‘The silm fandom is misogynistic’ ‘Feanorian fans are misunderstanding the characters’ ‘Silm fans hate Elwing’ And so on.
Can we stop? Your opinions are not better if you like feanorians. Your opinions are not better if you like peredhil. This is not black and white. I won’t argue ‘not all silm fans’, because I recognise that we have problems. But condescension will not fix them. Thank you.
1, 5, & 10 for the book ask!
Thank you for the ask my friend!! (for the book meme linked, also thank you for linking it for me asdfghj)
1.) Rant to me about a book you absolutely hate
I'm putting this one under the cut asdfghjk I shortened my thoughts quite a bit to make my rambling more concise but I felt like I had to explain my qualifications as to why I hate this book asdfghjk that and I thought, while the discussion is brief, it could be potentially triggering for some. So my answer is under the cut with more specific warnings
However for those who don't want to go down there, my second most hated book is Rapture, the tie in Bioshock novel. I just hate it. It butchers every character in that series s2g. It's bad. Also not very well researched. Did I mention it's bad? And unnecessary?? However 10/10 for the part where Sander Cohen runs into (I think) Julie Langford at the park while he's wearing leather shorts and at least one boy on his arm that's the funniest thing he could have ever done ever. Julie and Sander are the opposite of wlw/mlm solidarity, they are wlw/mlm hostility to me.
5.) Tell me about the genre you always find yourself reading? Is it surprising to you that you always read that one?
I'm not sure if it's a genre exactly? But I love like 'bad' romance novels, I call them popcorn books (entertaining and fun to eat, will fill you but is low on like substance). Like self published, formulaic, booktok mining, nonsense asdfghjk I wouldn't call it my favorite genre or anything (as much as I love love stories) but its the one I find myself most often writing books down for because I just find them fun and entertaining to read and also analyze asdfghj I firmly believe you learn a lot about writing by reading not only good books, but books that you personally find less good. Like it does the brain good to consider like why you personally might not be finding this as good, what do you think is missing, if you don't consider it particularly good what about it has hooked you still, what do you think is appealing to it's more target audience, so on and so forth. Like that's just as beneficial as studying a good book to figure out what's good about it, in my opinion.
I plan my reading schedule around this asdfghj i divide books into 'popcorn' books and 'substance' books, which just means the book is going to be like more intense, probably went through formal publishing, is usually in a less formulaic genre, so on and so forth. And then I alternate them because I find it keeps me engaged. Right now I'm reading a popcorn book, so for my next book I'm going to treat myself to a substance book, for example.
None of this is to begrudge popcorn books, I think reading can and should be both things. And like there are many popcorn books I enjoy genuinely asdfghj
Am I surprised that I like popcorn romance novels? Not really asdfghj this is exactly what I expect from myself. I love romance in my fiction as much as I love tragedy and grief narratives so I'm not at all surprised to find that I'm often going to like romance based genres.
10.) Tell me about your top (any number you want) favorite books?
So this is my like, yearly reread list of books, books which I return to like yearly. They are also ones I tend to collect copies of asdfghjk
Catcher in the Rye is my like favorite book. I realize this is a weird take but I...I love Catcher. Something about it caught me when I first read it and it just never really has let me go. I enjoy what Salinger does with his prose. I enjoy the character study a lot. I enjoy how it handles being a grief narrative, because it is a grief narrative. I love the imagery Salinger evokes like...I don't think that's something a lot of people bring up but I think a lot about Holden in that rye field, trying to catch kids from falling over the ledge. Or the carousel. Or Holden feeling like he's trapped on an endless street, moving no where. Or like when he goes on his long meandering tangent on museums. I think it has a lot of worth and it's kind of a shame it's legacy tends to be what it is for a mixture of reasons. Also I like personally spiting J.D. Salinger, I live my life around if it'd personally piss off J.D. Salinger. (I collect vintage copies of Catcher in the Rye asdfghjk I don't have many but I'm working my way up)
Wuthering Heights has also entered as like my second yearly reread. I genuinely did not think I'd like it this much? I was actually really worried I wouldn't? Which is odd as I think it was engineered as catnip for me? Like the tragedy, the drama, the love story, the horror, there's a ghost???, the madness, the complexity of perception and how that also plays into everything, the themes?? Also just I love how Emily Brontë articulates emotions. Like she really delivers a lot of incredible quotes. I also just really appreciate Cathy and Heathcliff which probably sounds insane but like find both of them just so compelling both in their dynamic together but also just them separately. I really just kind of want to put them in a jar to study. Perhaps I will change my mind when I reread it more, but I was writing essays on the book while reading the book so, I think that says a lot about it in my eyes asdfghj that and the fact I already collected 4 copies of it and am always on the lookout for more.
Anyway back to, 1.) Book I Hate
Content Warnings: this rant will involve discussion of the Holocaust, Holocaust fiction, and genocide! My credentials are minoring in genocide studies!
Thank you for asking! This is going to get long as I have a lot of festering hatred for this one asdfghj
If I ever meet John Boyne, I am going to fist fight him for penning the Boy in the Striped Pajamas!!
Before anyone says anything, my hatred of that book is rooted in the fact I minored in genocide studies with focus on the Holocaust. It is equally rooted in the fact that every Holocaust survivor in my local area will not teach classes which only teach this book (I know this because I knew the people who work with survivors to match them to classes, the survivors will not go to classes that only teach this book) I personally think that book genuinely has single handedly set back Holocaust studies by decades. It's just...it's an insult. It's bad and John Boyne should feel bad for writing it. I hope he does, though I doubt it, as he at least in the past thought himself to be some sort of hero for writing a bad book on the Holocaust.
There's a lot of bad, poorly researched, insulting Holocaust fiction in the world but I think what makes this book stand out is the fact it's not only bad and historically inaccurate, it's the fact that it's taught frequently to children. It's formulating their understanding of this subject. For a lot of kids, due to how poorly we teach genocide studies, it's going to be all they know about this subject. Like it's, at best, a shaky foundation for Holocaust and genocide education that a child will hopefully improve upon as they learn better information. And at worse, it's all they have and ever will have. It's their only understanding of the Holocaust and genocide as a whole, which is bad given it's historical inaccuracy and it's sanitized version of events which prioritizes the comfort of the perpetrator over the reality of the victims. Also the fact John refers to it as a fable, which is just insulting on a number of levels.
I'm sure this book helped someone. I don't think it's worth the damage it's done and is doing. There's good books written for the same age group which do a much better job at what this one fails at. The fact we as a culture latched onto this god awful one is something that'll piss me off until I die.
For further reading on why this book is bad for kids, it's target demographic, here's a website that put together that Pajamafication twitter thread from a few years ago into a handy dandy article
Lyall and Valerius
thanks for the ask!! lyall and valerius' relationship goes through a lot throughout the game (and before the game starts).
it starts when they're both kids—both nobility, at that point—running around unsupervised at fancy parties. lyall has a total little-kid-crush on valerius, and valerius likes lyall's company more than most of the other people he has to interact with at these events. they spend a lot of time together.
after lyall's parents divorce and lyall is (effectively) no longer nobility, they don't get to see each other anymore, but they never forget each other. lyall, especially, has a penchant for staring into the middle distance and wistfully saying things like "valerius... i know you're out there somewhere..." (this is a crack at alm and celica from echoes)
when the war starts, with lyall and valerius inadvertently leading armies against each other, lyall never gives up on valerius. not even when she finds out he's at the helm of the other army. not even when valerius disappears and starts killing again, breaking the delicate peace they had just established. lyall takes falchion, valerius' blade by birthright, and swears to return it to him and bring him home.
lyall chases valerius once again, back to their home country, and finally finds him possessed by an evil dragon. they fight. lyall knows what he has to do. they strike the killing blow themself, with valerius' own blade.
falchion kills the dragon before it kills valerius, and with last-minute intervention from healers, valerius recovers. at this point in the game, the threads are starting to come together—romulus' disappearance and the destruction of the arcane academy and valerius' possession all tying back to a wizard cult that's been trying to free the last dragon—and valerius joins lyall's army to stop them. finally, finally, they stand together.
Top 5 hardboiled books/movies/whatever?
Oh, you make this so hard! I'm going to try to keep this broad and not overthink it, as you know I'm wont to do.
The Long Goodbye: I don't care if it's the original novel by Raymond Chandler or the 1973 film adaptation, this is probably my favorite Philip Marlowe story and Marlowe is easily my favorite of the hardboiled detectives. It's such a tender story, Marlowe is at his most melancholy, the mystery is one of the most achingly human, and Chandler was just having the hardest time in his personal life as he was writing it.
Farewell, My Lovely: I promise, not everything on this list will be a Philip Marlowe story but there's a reason they're so iconic! And Farewell is one of the most iconic of all, having multiple film adaptations (Murder, My Sweet from 1946 and Farewell, My Lovely from 1973, which is my favorite Marlowe adaptation). This novel has some of Chandler's snappiest lines—my favorite is "he was about as inconspicuous as a tarantula on a slice of angel food cake"—and his most iconic femme fatale in Helen Grayle.
The Case of the Velvet Claws: You know I had to include a Perry Mason. I mostly mean the novel in this case, but this is one of the stories that also has one of the OG movies from the '30s and an episode of the show; all of which are great in their own way. The book is the first in the Perry Mason series, it really introduces our beloved characters and sets the stage for what kind of man Perry is. This also makes it a bit of an anomaly among the books because it definitely has more of a hardboiled bent to it that most of the novels really end up having. The 1936 movie is also wild because it's the only time Perry and Della are ever actually married in any version of canon so you know I love it!
"Who Killed Bob Teal?" and "Fly Paper": I'm doing these together because they're both short stories featuring Dashiell Hammett's best character, the Continental Op. I love all of the Op stories, but these two in particular stand out in my mind. "Who Killed Bob Teal?" is as much a mystery as it is a quest for vengeance and really highlights the Op's sense of obligation and loyalty. "Fly Paper" is one of those clever stories that's hard to describe without spoiling so I won't say anymore. The Op is my favorite Hammett character because he's he most real, the one closest to Hammett in real life.
The Maltese Falcon: Some things are a classic for a reason and Hammett's novel is one of those things. The book is wonderful, it's crisp and tight and Sam Spade is what you think of when you think of a hardboiled detective (I still think Marlowe is better, but that's why he's No. 1 on this list and Spade is No. 5). And the movie is one of the most perfect film adaptations of a novel ever. I don't love Bogey's acting in it, though when he says "Mrs. Spade didn't raise no dummy", I scream every time, but the supporting cast couldn't be more perfect. Peter Lorre, Mary Astor, Sydney Greenstreet, Elisha Cook, Jr., they're all incredible. And it's one of the most true-to-the-source adaptations of the time, despite the Hays Code, which really hurt a lot of the early Chandler adaptations.
Honorable mention: "The Big Goodbye", Star Trek: The Next Generation: This is one of the most loving pastiches of any genre ever made. It hits all the right notes of the reluctant hope and resignation and attempts to follow a moral code against all odds of the genre in 42 minutes of a sci-fi television show. If "Our Man Bashir" is the best James Bond film ever made, this is definitely one of the best hardboiled films ever made.
Happy holidays to all who celebrate.
Especially those who are left feeling isolated, alone, and left out. This time of year with every media drilling it into our heads that we’re supposed to be happy and with other people… It fucks up the people who don’t have that. The people who, by choice or circumstance, are alone right now.
You aren’t broken for being unhappy. You aren’t wrong for not having others around you. And you won’t always be alone. That’s a promise.
As someone who’s been there, family broken and scattered, friends all gone for the holidays, distinct memories of walking the rainy and empty city on Christmas Eve as the dark closed in and the cold began to settle on the city… This isn’t all that’s in store for you. Your best days are yet to come, your greatest moments still on the horizon. It gets better, and all you have to do to guarantee that is keep moving forward. The only way to guarantee that nothing will change is to stop moving. To stop trying. To simply… Stop. So don’t stop.
Crawl an inch a day if you have to.
But don’t stop.
Lore Post!!
Hi @floundrickthewayfarer this is for you <333333
Important lore that Corruption doesn't tell you about!
Dark Samus origins
Dark Samus is actually just a heavily mutated Metroid which used to be known as Metroid Prime! She was introduced in Metroid Prime 1, where she looked like this>>
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Samus defeated her in Prime 1, she latched onto Samus' phazon suit (pictured above^) and stole it. The suit, combined with traces of Samus' DNA, allowed Metroid Prime to mutate into Dark Samus in the next game.
Phazon
Phazon is a mysterious, highly radioactive substance which almost borders on magic. It's what allowed Metroid Prime to become mutated to the level it was. Everyone wants it, and everyone is afraid of it. Much of Prime 1 is spent discovering the deadly effects of Phazon Sickness and being told to stay away from it at all costs or else you die (or lose your sense of self, or become irreversibly mutated, or turn into a remorseless killing machine). In Corruption, Samus is largely the only character who has seen the effects of Phazon firsthand.
The Chozo
The Chozo are an advanced race of bird people. They fostered Samus as a child after her parents died, even splicing (<hehe) their DNA with hers. The orange suit Samus wears at the beginning of Corruption was made for her by the Chozo.
Tumblr media
^ A Chozo character from Metroid Dread
Prime 1's story is about how an entire planet of Chozo were wiped out by Phazon before Samus got there. (they don't play a big role in Corruption but it's important to know Samus' personal motivation regarding the spread of Phazon I think)
Ridley
Tumblr media
The beloved space dragon. Ridley is the leader of the Space Pirates and a recurring boss character throughout the series. It and Samus have beef because it ate Samus' mother in front of her when she was a child 👍
Hi! I love your posts, they're so detailed! Do you know when did the Vesslettes joined the performances? Were they added to perform backing vocals? :D
Hello and thank you 🖤🖤 I do know when they joined actually, and I didn't have to do any digging for it 😅😅 Apparently my brain decided that was necessary everyday information.
The Choir, or the Vesselettes as fans have dubbed the ladies, joined Sleep Token as touring members in 2019. They essentially replaced the Keyboardist as backing vocalists for Vessel. Their first live show was July 2, 2019. Sleep Token was the opener for Amaranth and Baby Metal at this show, so the only real footage I've ever found was in a full concert recording on YouTube here. Sleep Token only occupies the first 11 minutes, but another interesting fact is this was the first time the second IV appeared on stage with the band (and if you watch the video, he actually plays the keyboard instead of Vessel, best seen starting at 1:57).
Another interesting fact is that the Vesselettes used to perform with their signature hoods but no masks (which is most likely one of the reasons they revealed themselves as Espera earlier this year), as seen above.
Unfortunately, the ladies did not appear in every show afterward (only showing up at ArcTanGent and on October 4 in Manchester), and did not follow Sleep Token to America for the Beautiful Oblivion tour at the end of 2019, but I'm very glad they came back in early 2020.
i had interrupted my bad bunny loop listening to add in chappel roan but no actually i'll go back to bad bunny now bc your post reminded me my brain needs it. also pls recommend music to the people
you want lil ole me to recommend music? (trying desperately to hide my excitement)
infinite granite - deafheaven: they’re an ambient black metal-shoegaze band, but this album is fr like dream pop. sooooo beautiful and rly good lyrics. still unclean vocals but wow this is one of my favs ever.
both - okay kaya: a recent find that i rly enjoyed. very very chill—you could *almost* fall asleep to it. she had a captivating vocal style! think caroline polachek on ketamine(?) hahaha just rly chill with a hauntingly beautiful voice.
folie à deux - fall out boy: obviously gotta shout out my favs!!!! this is another fav of all time. ridiculously fun. it’s got 00s rock, funk, soul, a lil wayne feature, a ballad… what else could you want? the boys killed it with this one. i think it’s their best.
pulse of awakening - sybreed: one of the first heavy albums i ever heard <3 they call themselves ‘deathwave’ (death metal + new wave) and yea it fucks. this album is locked the fuck in and so groovy. rly catchy melodies, and a fantastic vocal performance too!
i’m green - mali vasquez: this is my singer-songwriter pick. this 20-something from florida is incredible. it’s a soft indie album about grieving her mother’s death. i listened one day, then spent the entire next day listening to it again. she’s kind of a ‘bad’ singer but i could not care less.
