main takeaway from certain fan reactions to the finale is this:
the final scene with ankarna was so meaningful to the bad kids' arcs and how they made peace with being wronged by people they loved, and if all you can focus on is that the rat grinders didn't get much screentime, then you don't love dimension20 and you don't love this world: you want to be playing your own hs themed dnd campaign and you're mad the oc versions of the rat grinders you made up in your head acted ooc. these are not your characters and this is not their story.

i love calorum, i think it's the best setting of dimension 20, the worldbuilding is fantastic, i love concept of border foods, i've cried many many tears over jet and lapin, i've audibly sighed in relief when they win a battle, i love the characters brennan and matt and the pcs have brought to the dome, i almost cried tears of joy when the ravening war was announced...
but the concept of a yogurt sea is genuinely sickening to me

Incredible things from the london D20 live show in no particular order (straight from memory so may not be totally accurate or have much context at all):
First of all the line up was incredible. Kugrash, Pete, Sundry Sydney, Skip, Fabian and Adaine. What a terrible combination of personalities, it was so funny
Btw everyone looked so good. They looked really good, those fits <3. Murph striped button up/polo? shirt and Lou grandpa sweater you will always be famous
When Siobhan rolled Adaine everyone was so excited. Lou (who had already rolled for Fabian) hugged her, picked her up and spun her around on stage ❤️
Everyone was so excited to have a buddy ❤️
The setting was rolled as a crown of candy, after Brennan literally said “wow we happened to have a few people from the same place, wouldn’t it be hilarious if we got a crown of candy or neverafter or something?”
Everyone arrives and are doing introductions and the first thing Fabian says is “[tearfully] Adaine is that a giant rat?” Cue the whole atrium losing it.
Sydney then proceeds to minor illusion Kugrash as “sexy.” After some deliberation and when prompted by Brennan, Murph decided this means he looks exactly the same except for giant veneers
Beardsley: Can I distract the guard?
Brennan [flabbergasted, as the rest of the party was doing INSANE shit around this]: Sure, the DC is 500.
Beardsley: If I crit will you let it happen
Brennan [indulgently]: sure
Beardsley: [rolls a nat 20]
Brennan: [despair], cast: [running around in circles on stage and jumping], fans: [losing it]
And that’s how they accidentally start a revolt in Candia within minutes of arrival by Pete the Chosen Outsider with the peppermint tooth and prophesied king of candia. But it’s cool because in the next few minutes Kugrash teaches them about democracy.
So many little references to past campaigns and character one liners. Way too many for me to list but the cast was clearly enjoying dropping them
Sundry Sydney hitting King Calroy with 3 grenades ON SIGHT
A Hasted Kugrash doing an opposed athletics against Calroy and Brennan rolls a Nat 1. The dice wanted that motherfucker DEAD.
Kugrash to Calroy: “I eat from the trash, and I’ve never seen a cake as shitty as you!’ And then proceeds to 300-style kick him off the castle wall (as acted out by human man Murph)
Sooo much PVP though really most of that was between Pete and Fabian as they fought over the crown of candia
Sundry Sydney successfully seduced and awakens personhood in Adaine’s identify spell. His name is ANUS now. (Another use…)
Skip is quangled out and replaced by Lapin (played by Zac) and tries to keep the party on track. He fails many times. He takes up smoking from the stress. Adaine does as well.
At some point Pete’s wild magic turns his hands into rock candy, which he uses to deal 2d20 damage to Fabian during a fight
Emily as Sydney, whenever crazy shit happens: this is canon! [raises cannon arm]
All of them (except Pete) have some bad baby milk and do kublacaine. Cue a small detour for more pvp between Pete and Fabian
Arthur Aguefort is released from captivity in a castle full of/made from eggs. He and Lapin may or may not know each other biblically. They met on an app for old magical men, don’t worry about it.
Bill Seacaster is the pirate prince of the dairy lands and has the quangle. They get into his castle with Operation Fancy Perfume Part 2 except Emily rolled a nat 1 for her assist, so first poisonous perfume takes out most of the party and everyone inside the castle. I think Emily may have been crying she was laughing so hard.
They sort of defeat Bill by giving him pleasure putty (which he USES behind a curtain in front of EVERYONE) and then has to go take a nap, so they sneak into the rest of the castle to find the quangle. I am never going to forgive Brennan for making it canon that he goes “yar har har YO HO HO” when he gets off. I WILL NEVER UNHEAR THIS.
Pete Conlan somehow gains the power of flight from Bambi LeRoux (Sydney brought her) singing the Reading Rainbow theme song. He does a flying ribbon dance out the window, where she stops singing and he falls and takes max fall damage. He’s still up, so Fabian jumps out the window with Feather Fall and shoots him with a laser gun until he actually dies lmao. He gets injured too somehow but I forgot how. They both get healed and everyone continues on like nothing happened.
Emily took her dice that rolled a Nat 1, kissed it, and threw it into audience with a cheeky expression. I’m in love with her I fear
The time quangle is an entire pool of lemon yogurt. At the bottom of the pool is a completely naked Gilear Faeth
Kugrash eats all the yogurt despite knowing it will kill him in order to end the quangle. His farewell speech has as a backdrop Gilear’s giant hog (played by Brennan’s arm, as he got out of his chair to stand behind Murph the ENTIRE time he was talking). Kugrash then ascends to the big bodega in the sky.
Sydney also seduces Annabelle Cheddar (EDIT: fuck it was like 12 AM forgive me) Primsy Coldbottle, who is explicitly 29 in this version of time. Both her and Anus join Sydney in returning to AnarchEra. I cannot emphasize enough how horny this live show was
Everyone gets sent back to their respective universes, except Arthur. He’s going to hang out in Candia for a bit to be Lapin’s “roommate.”
Fabian’s last line is that he has to call his banker because he has a new nemesis
Lapin: “That was the worst group of people I have ever met.”
God that was so funny, I really hope these live shows are getting recorded and will be released somewhere later. I need everyone to experience the epic highs and lows of this d20 session.

this is going to probably be the longest post of my life, and i HATE getting into fandom discourse which is why i don't usually write anything about fandom discourse, but i just want to address some things about our favorite rat grinders so if you want to read, click below
as someone who loves the rat grinders as nuanced antagonists who are also teenagers, i think the rat grinders before they ever joined in on porter and jace's plan were assholes.
i think they were the quiet bullies, the mean people who you never notice until they are mean to you, the ones who seem nice and respectable up close, but talk shit about you the minute you're gone.
i think most of them (kipperlilly in particular) were looking for a reason to be bad. and i know we might not ever get this confirmation, but based off kipperlilly's file and other moments with the trg, i think it's possible this is correct.
they were assholes who needed a reason to be even bigger, more dangerous assholes and most of them took it. and yes, it was either that or be dead, but i want you to know that sometimes that's not even a question. sometimes you don't even care about the other option, you just want to rage.
i think the one time all of them or maybe some of them even thought that what they were doing could be was when lucy died. and that's when i feel bad for them. they had to lock in right there because they all had made a decision, and they all needed to continue it. that's the manipulation.
i know they are kids. they are just teenagers. i work with teens, and guys, let me tell you, some teenagers are assholes. and i don't mean say a funny mean joke asshole, i mean literally going to grow up and be a shitty person asshole. i think some of the rat grinders were those kind of teens.
did they deserve to be redeemed? i think some of them do. i think buddy has a big shot at being redeemed, and i genuinely hated that he died in the last stand and had to make that decision. i think ally is going to try if they can. i think mary ann might be redeemed.
but also, you guys have to remember that this is dnd. i don't think many of you have played dnd before, or if you have you're just really conscientious about everything you do. because as a dm who has played dnd and has made nuanced antagonists, your players are gonna straight up kill them.
brennan knows that. i'm 100% sure he knows that. this isn't scripted. the intrepid heroes aren't thinking about what the fans want every time they play. in dnd, ESPECIALLY in brennan's dnd, it's kill or be killed.
the rat grinder's weren't going to use non-lethal attacks. they were going to kill the bad kids, and they were going to be UNNATURALLY happy throughout it all. they were going to spit in their faces and roast marshmallows on their bodies. they were going to not feel guilty.
sound familiar?
i think the bad kids have been nice to the rat grinders since day one. not kind, nice. they've been polite and nice to them, not going all in until this fight. if this fight happened before the finale, i think the rat grinders would have had more time to be redeemed (ex. see Ragh in season 1 who def would have died in the finale battle if the bad kids hadn't fought him earlier). but the bad kids are stressed and done.
there is no time to be polite and nice when the world is going to end.
i know you liked these characters. i did too. i'm sad to see them go, but even when someone is nuanced and could be redeemed, the person they were a piece of shit to doesn't have to be the one to redeem them. they don't have to be the one to keep them alive and make sure they only get taken the police instead of dead. cause trg would have gone to jail.
aelwyn did. so would they.
people you've wronged don't owe you forgiveness or redemption. trg didn't wrong tbk that bad, but they made them angry, they tried to kill them, and they're probably almost close to ending the world.
i'll miss you rat grinders. you guys were perfect narrative foils, but it was always going to end like this.
now stop being absolute assholes to the intrepid heroes just cause they didn't play how you wanted.
love this fandom, and yeah, d20 get shit wrong sometimes. always make sure to critique your favorite piece of media.
but at the end of the day, this isn't your table to play dnd at. this is theirs and they are having fun. why don't you go and play as the rat grinders in your home game and give them the ending they deserve, or make fanfiction about it?
put your anger into that.

So ....
It's 4am
.......
I literally just finished the new episode of Fantasy High......
....
.....
.....
HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.
THAT WAS INSANE.
BIG Spoilers below:
Damn you Porter!!!
Damn you Osin!!!
Absolutely wild that Brennan has had the plot twist of Porter being evil all along since they filmed Sophomore Year. And the Bad Kids probably could've figured it out during Sophomore Year if they'd only realized how sketchy his interaction with Ragh was. They just never connected the dots at the time because of all the other crazy shit they were trying to solve.
Also ngl, when the video popped up on the dome, I literally jumped. I was not expecting that.
I'm SO MAD that Osin was bad all along.😫That shit with the ping pong balls was so mean, Brennan. I can't forgive you. Wtf man😤
And to the person who realized Osin was trying to give dragon madness to Adine when he offered his grandma's gold in ep 3 --- you're a genius and I'm sad now.
On a happy note, the art with Cassandra and Ankarna was really beautiful. As well as the scene between Kristen and Bucky. Very moving and sweet. Ayda's meteor shower message to Fig was fucking beautiful. There's a list of several monologues/one liner quotes Brennan has done on this show that have genuinely stayed in my head rent free. This was one of them.

Iron Flame Spoilers (up to the end of Ch. 64)
Lilith Sorrengail’s death scene was beautifully written. Not so much the death itself, as much as the implied fallout on her kids, and how each of them will have to deal with different kinds of devastation, for very different reasons.
Violet never really felt loved or respected by her mother (“Mom tolerates me and respects Mira, but she loved Brennan.”), and Lilith doubted her to almost the last second (“Your opinion, as noted as it is, is wrong.”). These are the only type of memories she’ll really have of her mother, since Lilith died before she could even try to convince Violet that she was enough in her eyes. I think it’s going to take a massive revelation for Violet to ever believe her mother was at all proud of her.
Brennan is arguably the one who took Lilith’s betrayal the hardest (“I hope my death haunts her every damned day. She was so willing to sacrifice my life for a lie.”). He was so angry, and rightfully so, but I think he’ll have a hard time with the fact that he let his mother die believing he hated her and would never find it in himself to forgive her. And maybe that would have been the case had she survived, but I think he’ll still feel a lot of guilt and regret. His reaction is not the kind you get from someone who truly hates you (““Don’t,” Brennan begs, shaking his head. “Don’t do this.” He staggers to his feet, stumbling her direction, but doesn’t get far before falling.” as well as “Brennan sits with Mom’s body draped across his lap, his hand trembling as he reaches for her face.” and finally ““Mom,” Brennan whispers, his face crumpling as he looks down at her.”)
And Mira, who respected her mother the most out of the three, who was essentially raised in her image, and the last of Lilith’s children to lose faith in her, will have to grapple with the fact that she didn’t make it in time to be with her mother in her final moments. That her last words to their mother, that we know of anyway, were said in anger (““Why is it that only my daughters speak out of turn?” “We get it from our mother,” Mira snipes in a dry tone, and that lethal look pivots to her.”)
I think they’re all going to struggle with Lilith’s loss, no matter how angry they were at her. They’ll have to face the reality that both their parents are gone, and all they have is each other. I hope we see it bring them closer than they were before.

"if Kristen fell into a time quangle during the Night Yorb fight and landed in the last few minutes of the epilogue, her character growth, her entire arc, would be 100% identical to how it was in canon"
Feels like a shame to single out Kristen when that's basically true of all the PCs. Murph got in a just under-the-wire character arc that was largely unrelated to anything Riz actually experienced. (I feel like Murph and Brennan went into this season with opposite ideas of what Riz's arc should be.) And every other character remained essentially the same. They went through some external changes (Fabian got a girlfriend and Fig a new god). But those can hardly be called arcs. At least Ally took some wild swings at the beginning, even if they never amounted to anything
Riz is a very insightful point, he was such a non-entity this entire season. He basically existed just to do nat thirty investigations like an HM slave in Pokemon. Even in the epilogue, it's like "hey his mom reminded him to relax sometimes and he said okay" and like. That's it. That's literally it. NOTHING was solved.
I still feel like Kristen is different, though, and most obnoxious to me, because she so central to the narrative and the epilogue is more her victory lap than anyone else's. Like Riz had nothing happen to him all season but then also didn't have anything happen to him in the epilogue either. With Kristen it's like, woo! You're the president and this is inexplicably, against all conceivable logic, something we expect you to be good at! Cassandra apparently forgives you for literally almost neglecting her to death! Your religion has started picking up followers for, I don't know, Reasons I guess, I don't really know but I sure know it wasn't because you put any effort into proselytize one single time this entire season! Your ex left her highly successful religious movement and broke up with that dumb bitch slut who's probably evil I bet so now you've got another shot!
So like, at least Riz's epilogue doesn't act like he's gone through any real change or earned anything the way Kristen gets handed a trophy for every time she blinked this season. Everyone else, I feel, had something, even if Adaine's ended in the middle of the season.

Hi! I was wondering if one of my favorite authors had any new thoughts or theories on the new book know that we have a title in place?
I personally hope with the title we will get more xaden contain through dual povs throughout vs not just at the end!
howdy!! my first thoughts were just internal screaming tbh. I’m very excited. I pre-ordered both versions already. I’m locked in.
some of my (many) questions / worries / thoughts (more to come later probably)
onyx = his eyes, storm = her lightning… probably
I really hope we get more Xaden pov! I think we will, as the “special edition” doesn’t mention bonus chapters in his pov like the fourth wing special edition did. but it would be so sad to watch his thoughts slowly turn evil and watch him deteriorate 😭
are we picking back up right where we left off? if we are, my bet for the opening scene or somewhere in the first few chapters is gonna be the three siblings going through their mom’s office / burning her stuff 🥺
how fast does one “turn” after they become venin? like how long do we have to save him? he seems to be cognizant and “himself” right now, but what has to happen for him to slip and lose that control? is it only a matter of time, or is he gonna be okay if he just doesn’t pull from the earth again?
like, Jack touched Dain and he immediately broke down in pain and left dead gray handprints on his skin. how long until X starts doing that too, and he can’t hold Violet anymore? and is Dain okay? is he scarred for life now, or did it go away after a while? 🥺
speaking of Dain… what’s the deal with his dad? I don’t trust that guy literally at all. I would love to see Dain stand up to him more and stop being the perfect obedient and trusting son and give his old man the what for, like a real face to face confrontation and demand answers. I want him to be as ruthless with his dad as Brennan was with their mom (only Mr. Aetos truly deserves it)
and in general I want more of Dain’s redemption arc! but that’s just me, I know other people don’t like him as much as I do (which is a lot, so…)
we can’t forget poor Sgaeyl… I hope we see more of her relationship with Violet in this one, if Xaden is truly detached from his dragon now (how does that work?) she can’t be away from Tairn, anyway, so…
also… there are so many people who might not have survived the battle… :( we know the first years and Vi and Brennan are safe, because they were there fixing the ward stone, and I’m pretty sure sawyer made it through, but everyone else…? though I’m not too worried about that, it think it would be really cheap of her to be like, oh by the way, ____ died. I’d never forgive her lol
speaking of dead people, are we getting more Liam in this book again? I couldn’t handle it… but there’s a group of people on Reddit who are very convinced that Vi can see dead people as her signet from Andarna, which I don’t really believe (they disconnected her from Tairn at the time, so she probably couldn’t reach Andarna’s power either. and side note: think of how fucking haunted Basgiath must be. half the class dies before they can graduate, and it’s been there for hundreds of years presumably.)
that’s all I have for now. I’m sure I’ll reblog this later to add more / make this a kindof thoughts thread, but I’m always down to theorize with y’all in my inbox too! 🖤⛈

cant stop thinking abt the ratgrinders' like... parents after this ep. trying not to be disappointed at the kill all enemies approach to this combat. i understand we have a different experience of the campaign to the pcs. but what i hope for is brennan taking a moment to focus on the families and loved ones of these kids who were manipulated and forced and used for porter's means. Who had their free will taken away from them, and their anger used against them.
Like, after all is said and done, we see a gnome couple; maybe they were sort of friends with the Thistlesprings, since Ruben's whole deal before being emo was like, that vibe. Maybe they knew their son had changed, was angrier and more sad, but they gave him the space to respect it. And Wilma and Digby see themselves reflected in the Hopclap parents' faces as they mourn their son, who they never got to properly say goodbye to. They didn't even realise how far gone he was.
If Sklonda, seeing the grieving parents of another sharp and ambitious rogue, determined to be the best, desperate to prove herself, realises that that could've been her. Wondering what she would do if it were Riz who had his own rage used against him, and ultimately dooming him to be the villain of the story.
Do the church mourn Buddy, who was let down by every adult in his life? Who learned to follow and obey before he learned free will. Will they even care, since he turned his back on them, when faced with the choice of oblivion or rage? Or will his parents quietly swallow their grief, and privately hope that, maybe, he got a second chance to find Helio again.
Imagine losing your kid to rage. It becomes hard to talk to them, to forgive them, because of that rage, but you don't understand it. You try and try to get through to them, but all your conversations end in fighting. You resent them, because you don't know what you did wrong. And then, before you can understand, and before you can apologise, before you can tell your kid you love them one more time, they're dead. They died at school, because of teachers they were supposed to be able to trust. And you learn that the rage wasn't natural, that they were used. It's not fair.

Love your dimension20 edit of zac and aabria with lou, any context for those who havent watched?
OKAY context for karna/colin/deli’s dynamic in the ravening war !! (specifically for the edit i posted a while back)
(aabria plays karna, zac plays colin, lou plays deli)
THE RAVENING WAR SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
.
.
- deli hires colin to protect him on his way to comida, colin immediately decides he’s willing to die for deli
- they’re both indoctrinated into a weird ass cult (but the leaders don’t ask them to do anything right away. just threaten to expose their secrets if they don’t join them)
- colin & deli meet karna, who is a child (~13) while deli is 19 (and colin’s age is unknown, but i headcanon him as ~22)
- 2 years pass. colin & deli stay together, deli appoints colin as his skáld (essentially an advisor)
- colin & deli become extremely close. zac & lou basically role play romantic moments but never actually make it explicit 😭
- over the past couple years, karna has developed a crush on deli, but deli does not reciprocate. deli seems more interested in hanging out with colin
- the cult asks all the pcs to kill someone, they agree & go on the mission
- deli viciously attacks the target + kills an innocent creature but doesn’t seem to show much remorse. colin kills an innocent bystander, but feels extremely guilty about it
- deli seems convinced that he and colin will go back to the meatlands together. colin follows his moral code instead and leaves deli (deli pretends this does not affect him, but he is lying.)
- 5 years go by. deli heads back to the meatlands while colin heads off with one of the other pcs (brennan’s pc raphaniel)
- during this time, deli invites karna to join him and appoints her as his new skáld (effectively replacing colin)
- when deli & colin meet up again, colin is jealous of karna & deli is jealous of raphaniel
- deli is mad at colin, but quickly forgives him and tries to gain his approval
.
.
essentially the idea of “do you get deja vu when she’s with you” and “don’t act like we didn’t do that shit too” is showing that (in my mind) deli was in love with colin. when colin left him (due to judging him for his actions), deli replaced him with karna, a person he knew supported him unconditionally (because she practically worshipped him). however, the second colin comes back, deli prioritizes him.
can you guys tell i think about colindeli a lot

Live Blogging the Burrow’s end finale but it’s all in one post because I can’t be bothered to reblog the same post 10 times. So like… pre-recorded blogging I guess
Spoilers. Obviously.
- loving the finale outfits! Especially the caution tape accessories!
- hey girl hey! Poor Teedles is taking all of this very well and we love them for it. I too would rather face possible death than have to babysit my boss’s children
- someone really should go check on Simon
- love how Tula is advocating for a nonviolent solution and ends it with “and we should definitely track down and murder Phoebe”. It’s nonviolent except for one specific person (being?)
- Lucas is just doing his best as a congested little boy. Somebody get him some mint! (Bint)
- “oh, mommy has so much bloodlust!” is an excellent line
- again, Brennan is unhinged, and also maybe wearing pink lipstick, which I think adds to the vibe
- Thorn being concerned for Dr Steel is so indicative of his character. He just wants to protect his people, and even though they’ve only known this human for a few hours, she is one of his people
- I DID NOT KNOW HE COULD DO THAT
- love a good title drop, but this plan seems very hastily put together. I am concerned
- persuasion- “-OR ELSE!” … ok intimidation
- gasoline lasts for however long is narratively relevant
- how many stoats does it take to drive a truck? Apparently at least 5
- I mean as far at Nat 1s go operating a gear shift as a rodent makes sense
- viola is holding this group together by sheer force of will
-oh fuck human magic!
- new map! New map!
- Oh fuck “human” NECROMANCY!
-kinda sad that Carlos isn’t playing Wennabocker on the board in some way but it obviously makes sense from a practical standpoint
- the minis!!! So cool!
-“grandma casts sounding” oh no…
- box of doom strikes again
- 40 points of damage is insane
- Lucas no! I love his little hat but no!
- hate when the BBEG rolls a Nat 20
- 69 hp…nice
- not Lucas!!
- oh Tula is never going to forgive herself for this and I have Thoughts about it
- Phoebe really is just a situation at this point
- That is exactly what a 12 year old would say when beating up an eldritch horror
- yeah I’d say hitting the ground really hard is a reckless attack, Ava
-109 damage! Jesus fucking Christ
- oh it’s some eugenics shit, okay
- Dr Steel coming to the rescue!
- I love using a bunch of skills and mechanics to get the desired outcome. Casting a spell, moving out of range of counterspell, and disengaging an opportunity attack all at the same time just to be able to fireball this meat suit
- I also would not recommend hitting a nuclear reactor with fire
- “no that’s okay” was such a power move
- “I DEBONE THAT MOTHERFUCKER” yes you do, and somehow that invents cooking! I love it
- Nat 20! “THATS! MY! WIFE!!!” Viola has taken out 4 giants in a single round. She is a badass. She is a warrior. She is my hero.
- oh yeah, Dr Steel was just standing there for all that
- We may be experiencing a tragedy but at least they’ve also invented ice cream
- LUCAS NO!
- ok yeah i might be sobbing a little, what of it?
- I like that Ava can have a little magic as a treat
- I personally welcome our new stoat overlords
- babies!
-Get it, Tula! But seriously I like that she really got to process life without being just a widow and a mother before moving on
-baby’s first word: viscera. This is cannon
-Ava’s doing great, and her life is in her own hands. She’s completely overhauling the local law enforcement and creating triple A
- Dr Lila! She’s a nuclear physicist now!
- Did not expect Jaysohn to go for an Airbud plot line but I’m not mad at it
Closing thoughts: I loved it! I think the ending was pretty abrupt but taking out the BBEG in like 2 rounds will do that so I can’t fault them for it. I would have loved for at least one of the party to take over Education, and I think Tula was kind of set up for it but I’m glad she gets to just enjoy life now instead. I can’t wait to see tomorrow’s Adventuring Party and I’m super excited about next season!
