Best Friend's Brother Eddie x Reader

Study Session

Turned out that avoiding your best friend’s hot brother was impossible. Every time you were at the Munson trailer, he was there. Either playing his guitar or working on his D&D campaign. On one occasion he was fixing up Wayne’s truck. You tried not to stare, but his biceps flexed as he jimmied something and you knew he’d be able to toss you around. You weren’t the smallest person so that was saying something. Even though you tried not to, you often daydreamed that he thought you were cute too.

You found out that he did on a normal Tuesday afternoon. You and Tessa were studying for your history final, and his band was practicing at Gareth’s. “I need some water. Want anything?” You asked Tessa. She shook her head in reply, she was focused. You made your way to the kitchen of the trailer and heard the radio playing one of your favorite songs. You just couldn’t help yourself and you started bopping to the music. As you stood at the sink filling up a water glass, you shook your hips to the beat. You were so lost to it, you didn’t hear the trailer door open or boots stomping towards you.

It wasn’t until you turned back towards Tessa’s room that you realized you weren’t alone. Eddie was leaning against the door frame with a soft smile on his face. He didn’t try to scare you, but unfortunately for both of you, you startled easy. You jumped a foot in the air, dropped the glass and it shattered into a million pieces; one of those pieces nicked your calf. He straightened up, holding his hands up in surrender. “Jesus Eddie!” You exclaimed with your hand over your chest. “Nearly gave me a heart attack.” Tessa called from the other room to make sure everything was okay. As you told her it was fine, Eddie was helping you, you watched as Eddie stepped into the kitchen.

“Don’t move, cherry.” He said as he inched closer. Cherry was the nickname he gave you because you always had part of your hair dyed cherry red.

The closer he got, the more you wanted to lean away but the glass was all around. Grabbing you by the waist, he hoisted you up on the counter effortlessly as if you were cotton candy. You could feel your cheeks heating so you busied yourself with observing him.

He grabbed the broom and began sweeping the glass as he spoke. “Sorry to scare you cherry. I got home from practice and saw you shaking that cute ass of yours and got distracted.” He smiled at you and bent to finish up the glass. He’s never said something like that to you before and you’re flustered.

“It’s okay. Thank you for cleaning up the glass.” You replied blush deepening. He put the broom away and stepped into your space again.

“No problem. Now, let’s take care of that cut shall we?” He asked and wrapped his long fingers around your ankle. In the shock of it all, you didn’t even notice the blood. “Don’t move.” He said again before he dipped to the bathroom and returned with the first aid kit. You sat in companionable silence as he inspected the wound.

“Is it bad?” You whispered. He met your eyes and you were sure he could see the slight fear in yours, just as you could see the concern in his.

“Don’t worry,” he whispered back. Brushing the back of his hand along your cheek he continued. “It’s not too deep. There is some glass in it though, sweets.” Sweets. That was a new one. You glanced away as you found you rather liked it. “I can take you to the ER, or…” he trailed off. He pulled his lighter out of his pocket and picked up the tweezers. Your stomach tightened at what he was implying but you nodded anyway. He took your hand in his and placed it on his shoulder. “Squeeze my shoulder if it hurts, okay?” You took a deep breath and nodded.

He carefully struck the lighter and ran the tweezers through the flame to sterilize them. He was slow and careful making sure to get every inch that would be in your leg. It’s like he knew you were scared so he was taking time for you to prepare. Finally, he couldn’t stall anymore and began removing the glass.

You shut your eyes tightly and listened to the plink plink plink of the glass falling into the sink until the quiet got to be too much. “So, my ass was distracting was it?” You asked to lighten the mood. He chuckled.

“Cherry-berry, you’re distracting full stop.” He winked as he began disinfecting the cut.

“Oh, sorry.” You replied. You never knew what to do and say when someone flirted with you. The disinfectant burned and he winced when you squeezed his shoulder hard. “Sorry.” You apologized again. You went to move your hand, but he placed it right back.

“Don’t. I can handle when you squeeze me.” His voice dropped low. “In fact, if you weren’t my sister’s best friend, you would have squeezed a lot more than my shoulder by now.” You gasped and locked your eyes with his. The deep brown pooled and darkened as he gazed hungrily at you.

“If you weren’t my best friend’s brother, I bet I would.” You got the pleasure of seeing his pupils dilate further and a shudder pass through him. You’ve never flirted much but you can guess it went over well. You both leaned forward, his eyes dart to your mouth, and you licked your lips as a reflex. He bit his lip softly as he closed his eyes. Yours fluttered shut right as your lips pressed together. His lips were pillow soft. He pulled back and when you opened your eyes he was already looking. You opened your mouth to ask what just happened, but before you could you hear Tessa.

“Eddie? Is Cherry still in there?” She called. He stepped back from you and quickly helped you down.

“Yeah, they’re in here. I’m sending them back in now!” He called. He got you a plastic cup this time and filled it up before handing it to you. “Here you are, sweets. Next time, I’ll try not to scare you.” You thank him for the water with a quick peck on the cheek before scampering down the hall to Tessa’s room.

The two of you settle back in to study when she noticed the dinosaur bandaid on your leg. “Hmm.” She muttered.

“What?”

“Nothing. Just Eddie only gives his dinosaur bandaids to people who are special to him. He has regular bandaids for anyone else.” You stare at the pictured triceratops in quiet wonder. You were special to him?

Tessa knew something was off as soon as they walked through the haunted house’s entrance. Rhett was gripping her hand like a vice, walking even closer to her side than normal, jumping and shifting at every little thing. 

It wasn’t even that scary of a haunted house. It was made for kids for God’s sake. For the Wabang Fall Festival, set up in the big pole barn where they usually did the barrel races at the fairgrounds. But there Rhett was, hunched in on himself with his chin practically tucked to his chest, looking around like something horrible and traumitizing was going to pop out at any second.

She looked up at him as they rounded the first corner with a raised brow. “Are you scared righ’now?” 

“No,” he quickly replied, barely even glancing down at her.

A little too quickly.

Then someone dressed in a Frankenstein’s Monster costume jumped out at them, roaring as he swiped one big hand. He was deliberately slow in his movements, much like the classic movie monster. The suddenness of his appearance made Tessa jump at first, but then she laughed. 

Rhett on the other hand let out a harsh fucking shit as he flinched. Shoulders bunched up around the brim of his stetson, turning his back towards the monster as he dragged Tessa along the hallway at a faster pace.

“What was that?” she laughed once they were clear.

“I…” Rhett huffed, shoulders still scrunched as he stopped them just before they had to weave through a section of dangling fake spiders. “I really hate gettin’ scared, alright?”

“Oh, my brave, brave, cowboy.” She really couldn’t stop the giggle that slipped past her lips as she cupped his stubbled cheek. “You didn’ave t’come in here wi’me.”

“M’supposed t’protect you…” he grumbled back, unwilling to meet her eyes. 

She giggled again and gave his hand a squeeze. “How’bout I protect you this time?”

“Y’won’t tell anybody?”

“No. I swear.”

Though it probably wouldn’t stop her from bringing it up from time to time. Just to watch him squirm and blush. Remind him all about the night they went through a haunted house for children and he had to hold onto her from behind with his eyes screwed shut. Face burried in her neck as she told him what was going on. Reassuring him that it was almost over and that he was doing so good.

But she would keep to herself the relieved look on his face when they finally made it out on the other side. The triumph and the little bashful smile. The kiss he planted on her lips and the mumbled thank you only she could hear. 

That little piece, that vulnerability from Rhett only she could see, that was for her only.

“welcome back to…whatever part of rating your animals!” nick said, pointing through the middle at the camera.

you sat in the back next to nick, behind chris. this wasn’t your first time filming with the triplets, having being friends with them for a while, but you still hadn’t done a lot with them on camera.

“however, this time we are back with y/n!” chris said elatedly, turning around and smiling at you.

“wassup youtube!” you said, smiling at the camera.

“ okay, like nick said we are going back to eating your animals due to the fact we all enjoyed it so much,” nick said, taking his phone out.

“we asked you guys on our main account to send some pictures of your animals, so we have loads of pets to look through-”matt began before chris clapped his hands, interrupting him.

“i need them to be more entertaining, like an- an elephant or something,” he said, nick matt and yourself looking at each other in disbelief.

“chris,” you began “ why the fuck would someone have an elephant as a pet?” turning to him, moving to the middle.

“someone had a cow last time-” he started before nick stopped him.

“because they lived on a farm dumbass, and a cow and elephant? two completely different things.” he said to him, laughing slightly at the end.

“yea but why couldn’t someone…”

“okay! let’s actually begin!” you interrupt both of them.

“this is tessa,” matt said, showing you all a picture of a small chihuahua.

“why does it look feral? like get that away from me dude..” you said, chris laughing at the bluntness of your answer.

“exactly! it looks like it’s got rabies or something,” he agrees, looking at matts phone.

“okay, i’ve never seen why people like those dogs though, not to be rude!..” nick added, when everyone turned to him, eyebrows raised, slight laughs erupting.

“-because they all look like gremlins, for a start. and they always look like their uncomfortable, like i’ve never- never ever, seen a chihuahua not barking.” he finished, looking at you all.

“no i agree,” you said turning to him. “they’re either in a rich woman purse or” -

“oh my god i have to say-”

“CHRIS STOP!”

and that’s how the video went, you each ranked the animals, your favourite being a doberman called david, and your least being tessa the chihuahua.

nick and chris had ended up arguing about wether a cow and a bull came from the same descendant, which took up a good chunk of the video- but you and matt ended up going through a few inbetween their arguments.

overall it was fun, you’d definitely try it again, not wanting to be as camera shy.

Author’s notes: Inspired by the film 28 Days and following canon themes from SPN, this is a fic about Dean, a firefighter who goes to rehab, not about Dean as a firefighter.

So we watched The Marvels (2023). Yeah, that film with Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel and Spectrum; apparently that came out in NOVEMBER, and has now hit streaming. Disney just left this out to die and did 0 advertising for it and it seems nobody watched it.

Overall I think it was a very fun film, with a few big weaknesses. If you like MCU stuff, it's absolutely worth a watch, then again I liked antman 3 and hated the loki tv series, so my opinion is apparently wrong.

More detailed thoughts (and spoilers) below

So there is a *bunch* of stuff that has happened off-screen at the start of this film, that (as far as I can remember) hasn't happened in another marvel film/tv show, we're just expected to magically know it has:

The Kree had (/are having) a civil war

Carol destroyed the supreme intelligence

The Skrulls have an emperor, and at least 1 planet.

Nick Fury lives in space now, and founded&runs S.A.B.E.R

All of that is just stuff you should know, somehow.

The villain is a kree accuser whose name I've already forgotten, she's a boring version of Ronan - and Ronan wasn't exactly exciting to begin with. But at least Lee Pace was chewing the scenery. It feels here like the actress is going for it 100%, but that's still 200% short of where the scenery chewing, cackling villain energy needs to be.

The rest of the cast do a good job, and Iman Vellani continues to be great as Kamala, and her family steal most scenes they're in.

The CG overall is good, and feels like it's actually needed.

The fight choreography is mostly really solid, and has some creative uses of powers.

There is a scene with the flerken(s) I won't spoil, but absolutely give a raise to whoever decided to play that song - it's a very, very funny scene.

Now nowhere in the film does it say Carol is queer. At no point is it stated clearly that she's into women. She just, you know, lived with and had a close relationship with Monica's mum for a number of years, and is "old friends" with Valkyrie. Oh yeah, that's another thing we're just expected to know, she's been...friends...with Valkyrie for years, apparently. Was this just an excuse to get Tessa Thompson to turn up in a suit? possibly. again, the film isn't saying anything, it's just thinking it really rather loudly.

And in a highlight of how few people saw this film: it has some x-men in it. Sure it's because a character gets shunted to a parallel universe, but they wake up to find a well designed, but badly CG'd Beast (voiced by Kelsey Grammer) and an alternate version of themselves looking after them. Which means somebody writing it has read a comic with sword in. Which also means we're one step closer to getting Abigail Brand in the MCU, and that's exciting.

Overall it's a fun film, that wants to have fun and it seems like the people involved in it are having fun. Why this was left to rot but secret invasion was pushed so hard, I'll never know.

Back To Vegas - Chapter 4

“Y/N?” You looked up from the evidence gathered at Hallie’s house that was out on the table.

“Greg?”

“New DB just came in. Want to join me?” he questioned stepping into the room. 

You looked at Grissom opposite you and he gestured towards Greg “Go. I’ll be ok with this. Catherine will be back in a second anyway.”

You stood and began to leave, Greg leading the way. “You wanna drive?”

“Uhh I think you should. I still don’t know Vegas that well.”

The man laughed “You’ll get to know it soon enough. I’m surprised Nick hasn’t taken you on a tour yet.” 

You got into the car with the man “Well we haven’t exactly had the time yet.”

“I was going to ask Nick if he wanted to come hiking soon and you’re more than welcome to join to.” The man started the engine.

“I’ll ask him later. Thank you”

“My pleasure. So Y/N tell me what sort of stuff are you into?”

The entire car ride was spent talking about your hobbies and getting to know the man, allowing him to talk about the history of Vegas and his friendship with Nick.

“I’m sorry I didn’t make too much of an effort to get to know you. Or come and see you and Nick. I was actually kind of nervous. I knew you were a big part of his life and I didn’t want to scare you away or something.”

“Don’t apologise or worry about it. It would have been nice to get to know you sooner, don't get me wrong. But you and Nick were always calling each other so I feel like I know you anyway.”

“Same to you. He spoke about you a lot, you know. Still does.”

You rolled your eyes “As much as I love the man can we move away from the relationship talk? I feel like I’ve been grilled and questioned by everyone about it.”

“Alright. No relationship talk.” The man pulled into the drive of a house. The police presence around the house was instantly noticeable.

“High profile?” 

The man shrugged “I don’t think so.”

The two of you got out of the vehicle and grabbed your kits, quickly moving towards the house.

“Why so many officers?” you questioned an older looking man by the front door.

“The body is fresh. Found by his kid. He was a professor and writer. The kid said he saw a woman leaving.”

You thanked the man and entered the house, Greg right behind you. The two of you saw a teenager in the corridor with a detective “Hi.” you greeted them.

“Sanders and?” the detective enquired.

“Y/L/N” you replied and stretched out your hand. 

He shook it “Wentz” The man turned to the teenager “This is Steff Nichols, Mr Nichols, the vic’s, son.” He turned to the man “Tell them what you saw.”

Steff fidgeted “I came home from tutoring early and shouted for my Dad. I knew he was in, he never leaves on a Thursday night. He has to be home to watch his favourite show. I didn’t hear a response so I looked for him and came to his room and found him on his bed grasping at his chest. I went to run for my bag and cell phone and saw that someone was running down our drive I didn’t chase her I called nine one one and went to try help him.” he was visibly upset.

“Don’t feel bad you did the right thing.” you re-assured “Have you given Detective Wentz a description of what she looked like?”

He nodded “The best I could.”

“Did you touch anything in the room?” Greg asked from beside you.

“No. My focus was on Dad and… he was gone by the time help got here.”

“Did they touch anything?” Greg asked.

“Nothing. Just the father” Wentz replied.

The two of you nodded. “Stay with the detective alright?” Greg told the kid as the two of you continued down the corridor to the room his father lay.

The room was large and the man lay on the floor next to his bed, far from the door. You took a picture as soon as you entered the room. You slowly approached the body and took more as Greg fell into step with you.

Something caught Gregs eye as he approached the opposite nightstand. “Y/N look” he pointed at a vial on the nightstand as he began to rush out of the room “I’ll ask if they left anything.”

You took a picture of the vial before placing your kit down and picking up the vial. Greg was back with you within seconds “They didn’t even take anything out of their packs. Anything they did was over by the body.”

You read the label and passed it to Greg who now had an open evidence bag. “Potassium.” He sealed the bag and read it through the plastic. 

“These cases are more intertwined than we thought.”

“Is it ok if I call Nick? He said that his vic looked like they OD’d but maybe it was something connected to this? Can you call David to check for puncture marks on Hallie?”

He nodded “You call Nick.” Greg brought his phone out of his pocket and walked to the otherside of the room to make his call. Slipping out your phone you quickly called Nick.

“Everything ok?” Nick’s voice was curious

“Yeah.” you pushed some stray hairs back “I’m with Greg with the new DB. We found a vial of potassium here. I know you said your case looked like a general overdose in a motel but be sure to check for Potassium in her bloodstream. We’ll explain more later.”

“Sure, sure. Ours vic had a pretty big concoction of drugs in her stream. We initially thought she was a long time user but she wasn’t at all. I’ll check again for potassium.”

“Thanks Nicky. I’m just finishing this scene and we’ll be back to properly fill you in”

“No problem Darlin’. I’ll see you in a bit.”

“See you in a bit. Love you.”

“I love you too.” 

With that you hung up the call and turned back around, Greg stood on the other side of the room with a smirk on his face and arms crossed around his chest. “Love you Nicky.” he teased.

You couldn’t help the smile that spread across your face “What? Are you jealous Greggo?”

“Don’t you dare.” he laughed “Let’s get back to the scene shall we?”

You composed yourself “Sure.”

The two of you collected the evidence efficiently and effectively and were soon walking back to the car. Bringing out your phone you checked your messages “Nick says there was potassium in his vic.”

“Right. David said he found puncture marks in Hallie too. This calls for a proper meeting.” Greg slid into the driver’s seat and brought out his phone. He began to frantically tap the screen before locking it and putting it away.

Just as he put it down your phone vibrated and you pulled it out.

“It’s only me.”

You read the text on the screen calling for a team meeting upon your return. 

“I’ll drop the evidence off ready to be properly processed then make my way over to the meeting.” you pulled your seatbelt across as he pulled away from the scene.

“Did Nick tell you about that time he left evidence in his car and-”

“Yeah.” you laughed “He gets pretty embarrassed about it.”

“I would too. It was a rough day.”

“When he told me the story I instantly got second hand embarrassment and it lives in my head rent free now. I’ll never leave evidence in a car.”

The journey was quick and you both leaped out the car. Greg chucked you his keys before rushing inside. You grabbed all of the evidence from the trunk and locked up before following Gregs footsteps inside. 

You quickly dropped off the evidence and hurried to the breakout room. Greg was straight ahead of you at the back centre of the room as you entered. Slipping inside you stood by the door next to Sara.

“I’ve called you here because it looks like all of our cases are linked. Each of them are all linked with a potassium overdose or elevated levels in their stream. Y/N and I just got back from a scene where an older man, a professor and writer was found having a heart attack by his son and he saw a woman fleeing the scene but stayed to help his dad.”

Greg paused and looked around the room before continuing. “We need to find the link between these cases. We’ll all be working together from now on. I want the teams to review all evidence from now on. Finish whatever you were doing and come join Y/N and I with your evidence.”

The group split up and you were soon falling into step with Greg. You spread the evidence out across the table and began to upload the crime scene photos before joining Greg back at the table.

Nick was the first to join you. He placed a box of evidence down on the table and stood beside you. Sara and Grissom were quick on his heels with more boxes. Nick’s hand settled on the small of your back as he leaned forward and used his free hand to sift through some evidence.

Sara got to work looking through all of the crime scene photos and Catherine was soon coming into the room with armfull’s of paperwork.

The team worked effortlessly together. Looking through evidence and moving around the room smoothly, lending knowledge effectively and researching as appropriate.

You pulled out the picture strip found on Hallie and looked over the faces with her in the booth. “This face is familiar.” you showed Greg next to you.

He took the strip from your hands “That’s Shana. The first vic. The teacher.” He held up the strip to the room “We’ve found out first link. Find out how they know each other.”

Catherine took the strip from Greg “On it.”

People began to leave the room, finding new clues and going to research them Greg had to excuse himself to take a call but he was soon returning.

“Sara, Y/N.”

“Yep.”

“New Dead body for you both. Could be connected.”

The two of you were soon leaving. “I never thought something like this would be my first case in Vegas.” you admitted to Sara.

“Vegas is different.” Sara laughed “It’s thrown us all straight into the deep end.”

“You can say that again.” 

The scene was a small nicely furnished home. It wasn’t high end but not low end either. The surrounding houses were full of families. The victim was Tessa Spencer, a woman in her 30s found dead in her living room by her brother. Sara and you processed the scene swiftly.

“Do you have any idea who could have done this? Did she have any enemies?” Sara questioned Tessa’s brother, Julian.

“A lot of people liked her. She was a really good person.”

“I know but you really need to think for us. Is there anyone who would want to see her hurt?”

He sighed. “I know she had a disagreement with our cousin last week. She mentioned it over the phone. The two have never really got on. She’s definitely spiralled over the years.”

“Would you say your cousin is capable of murder?”

“Yeah. Most definitely. They were on trial a couple of years ago”

“Who?”

“Hannah West”

Sara’s head snapped to Julian “I beg your pardon.”
