One thing I'm not noticing anyone else talking about—the production value thing is not because they think it's what the fans want. It's not. They want to go for higher production value, it's important to them. That's not a bad thing. Ryan has stressed multiple times on podcasts, behind the scenes content, even the live appearance I saw him at that it's important to him their new media is better quality than Unsolved. I think part of that is just anxiety that what they make isn't good enough, but I'm also sure it's a natural artistic yearning to want to expand and grow. Shane and Steven probably feel the same way about their shows. Ryan has also mentioned how taxing it is for so much of the channel to be about him, which he mentions again in the video with the comment about wanting to expand with other creators. And there's nothing weird about that! That's just facing realistic burnout. The vibe in the announcement video from Shane and Ryan is extremely telling of burnout. They're growing the content because (1) it's exhausting for them to make the exact same style of content for the 8+ years they've been doing it, and one of the ways to get past burnout is by pushing your boundaries and growing creatively; and (2) just making the shows, all of the shows, with themselves as the camera-facing element has to be exhausting for them.
I still think this is a bad decision but I think it's one grounded in their own creative impulses and how hard they've been working for several years now, not some urge to suddenly live the high life. They want to make stuff they're personally proud of, and right now that's beyond their means. I'd make an argument that they should opt for scaling back instead of jumping forward right now, but that doesn't mean they're making this choice because they hate their fanbase or are suddenly a big corporation. They've made a mistake, and hopefully they'll be able to tweak the Watcher TV system in the next couple days to make it more affordable for all.

Since my dash brought up the idea of dual promos for intertwined blogs... you know what else we should bring back. Verses made with other people's portrayals in mind in which the other person's muse is mentioned or alluded to in asks/threads/narration/etc no matter whose blog you interact with since that person's portrayal is deeply intertwined with yours & became canon to your muse's verse (ex: a Pacific Rim verse where your muse is a pilot and the other person's muse is their copilot & because drift compatibility is so rare they're a staple in each other's verses so they're brought up in threads even with unrelated muns when it contextually makes sense to talk about them; or a Psycho Pass verse where your muse is an inspector/enforcer and the other muse is their designated enforcer/inspector who gets mentioned in your verse bio/page and sometimes even in ic conversations/narrations ETC ETC ETC)!
Relationships that expand even outside of the og 2 people's interactions & become 'canon' to a verse even while interacting with third parties are just SOSOSO nice to write and experience!! I already have this going on for my romances since I'm singleship so the romantic r/s are canon across all verses, but I think we should expand this to even more types of dynamics. Friendships! (Found) Families! Coworkers! Enemies! I want my muses and you guys' muses (<-ofc, where applicable) to talk about each other even outside of our own interactions! (ex. My Shuusei sometimes talks/thinks about Red's Seven during threads because they're childhood best friends and you can't separate them entirely. My Ezekiel has Kaya's Chihiro as his 'canon' younger sister and regularly mentions her in various threads. My Aha 'canonly' chose Blu's Mya as their Emanator and if an interaction ever asks them about their Emanators, she will get a mention no matter what. My Langris and Kim's Kimiko are 'canon' coworkers who can't stand each other and he will talk about her in interactions where the Golden Dawn squad is mentioned. So on and so forth!!)

you guys are giving me the wrong kinda credits if you think I plan out Anything for these stories lol. I'm havin fun enjoyin! this is not my day job and I will never start treating it as such.
but there is something here though about like, how I as a guy in my room drawing for fun approach these things vs. what canon is, and what I get to do that the d20 team don't. it's evident with class swap baron specifically - which means I'm not gonna ease up on the horror part of it whenever I draw or write or whatever for them, because honestly that's the part that's the most fun for me. so (taps the blog description) if evil and scary things start showing up more in my art you bet ur bippy it's intended babeyy

I’ve been obsessed, obsessed, obsessed with Raisha for a while now. I know you’ve said little things about her in the past and i want to know what’s up with her/Gerathon if you’d be willing to talk about it.
I really like Raisha as a character, too! We know so little about her, but in my opinion, she's one of the most fascinating characters in the series. Unfortunately, she meets a sad end in A Revised History of Erdas.
All we know about Raisha post-infection is that she was present at the final battle in The Burning Tide, still under Zerif's control and in pretty bad shape. She vanishes off the grid after that, never mentioned again, not even in the concluding montage of Great Beast summoners reuniting with their fallen spirit animals. My retelling offers some closure, but not the good kind.
In my version of events, Raisha is flanking Zerif when he emerges from the ship with his Great Beasts. Zerif, in an act of cruel irony, saw fit to keep Raisha by his side even in her mindless, infected state. Shane, up in the archers' keep with Abeke, hardly recognizes the girl who helped steal Halawir months earlier. Later, she reappears to restrain Abeke when Zerif brings the defeated Redcloak forces to the Wyrm. When the Wyrm is killed and the parasites lose their power, though, Raisha collapses to the ground and doesn't get back up. The Wyrm had pushed her finite body to an extent that it couldn't recover from. Many people and animals in Zerif's army are the same; their possession eventually killed them. The Wyrm was a child playing with toys, the mechanics of which it couldn't possibly understand. Thankfully for it, its parasites could go on controlling a body in the event of an untimely death. Indeed, Stead raises the possibility that Raisha had been dead for some time, and the parasite was only animating a corpse.
Like I've said before, I didn't do this out of dislike for Raisha or anything like that. She was ultimately another victim of Zerif -- a young, lonely, impressionable girl he took advantage of -- and didn't deserve anything that happened to her. I'll always support AUs where she is alive and well. In my eyes, though, her story was always meant to end in tragedy. By the time she realized her mistake and reached for the light, it was too late.
Gerathon, after reemerging in Southern Zhong and feeling the loss of her human partner, disappeared into the brush and is currently at large. She is only an adolescent cobra at the moment, hardly a threat... but the Great Beasts are growing, and Gerathon's time will inevitably come again. (I like the idea of her becoming a maneater as she slowly regains her former size and power, terrorizing the locals and gaining a place in their legends.) Who knows how she feels about losing Raisha. I expect, under the excruciating pain that may one day drive her to madness, there is a sweet sense of relief.
