I’ve seen a lot of people on my dash making some pretty heavy statements because apparently someone writes a personification of the RMS Titanic? But there are also statements being made talking about how ‘gross’ it is to personify things in general — and other similar rhetoric that makes me EXTREMELY uncomfortable. While I think that it’s — very much not in good taste at all — to write a personification of anything where real people died and caused mass casualty (like, writing a personification of the Twin Towers or Columbine school or the like) — I also don’t think that bullying people is the proper way to handle. Informing the person gently as to why it makes you uncomfortable in case they didn’t understand or otherwise blocking is a better tactic, in my opinion.

Also — there are A LOT of writers who personify things, myself included when I ventured to personify an artist’s muse back on lovepurposed 1.0. Hell, Greek mythology *gestures at Pygmalion and Galatea*. Then, likewise, you have people personifying things that mean something to them — the TARDIS from Doctor Who, Baby from Supernatural (I have personally written with both) and so to make a generalization of ‘personification is gross’ is just — not a great take. You are 110% allowed your squicks, you are allowed to use the block button as liberally as you need to. But policing the content that others enjoy writing and then getting your followers to bully and make fun of them really, really isn’t okay. It’s not kind. Calling people ‘gross’ for the fictional content that they enjoy writing has never been it for me.

Again, I personally find the idea of a personified mass-casualty landmark in bad taste and it makes me uncomfortable and I will not interact with that blog if it happens across my dash. But it makes me equally as uncomfortable to see people out there calling people gross over fictional content, and laughing with their friends publicly about it. How would you feel if you came across someone and their whole group of friends shitting on your blog? How would you feel if people were calling you ‘gross’ because you wrote things that they personally didn’t like? Please be mindful — there are kinder ways to go about it, all.

Personally, I think that's just as much of a loss as using the AI to make speed paints. I know that people use speed paints to show that the art is theirs, that it's not stolen or AI.

But what happened to speed paints just for fun? Just a "hey guys look at the start to finish of this cool thing I did!" "Hey, here's your proof that things aren't always going to go exactly like you plan when you start the drawing!"

My friends and I used to gather around our computers and watch speed paints we made for ourself just because it's cool to watch things take place.

If you're saying that we should give that up so that the AI won't learn, why don't we just, I don't know, stop using the AI?

If you don't use it then it won't learn. There is no use to it learning anything if you don't use it. If it completely fades out of existence, or gets cancelled from no one using it, then we can have no AI AND keep our silly little speed paints!

I just think it's wild to say "hey, why don't we stop *doing enjoyable thing* so that *unenjoyable and widely hated thing* will stop stealing *enjoyable thing*?"

I do not think evangelizing on the double standard of women being expected to wear makeup everyday to grown women is actually productive or respectful (provided they are not judging me for not wearing makeup), we can all make our own decisions on how to walk through this world, however, it is true that whenever a woman in my daily life equates making themselves decent and presentable with having a coat of natural makeup on, I do have to viscerally repress the urge to shake them by the shoulders and scream that they've been had.

i think its bobs parents fault for his, johnny, and dally's deaths. not darry's, or pony's, or even bob

his parents never told him no or disciplined him, which was why he was drunk out of his mind that night (the park when he drowned pony). he wanted (needed) for someone to tell him no, set limits, etc. him being intoxicated directly led to his death, later johnny and dally would follow; if his parents told him no/disciplined him, he wouldn't have gotten drunk that night and could've prevented his and the other two deaths

reminder this is just my opinion, though. although i'm literally putting the blame on someone in this post, it's everyone's fault. everyone had a part in it

- hey so I haven't seen an interpretation of the bar scenes in Half that I fully agree with, so I wanted to throw my own two cents out there into the void and pray that it makes sense !!!

so, in the bar scenes in Half we see what I interpret as a hangout with old friends (or, hangout with old friend + his wife.) These scenes used to be the biggest piece of evidence for the cheater theory, but now that that's been debunked by the man himself, I have a new way of looking at them

~ before I go any further, I just wanted to say that I'll be calling the brown-haired woman whiskey for simplicity's sake

In this scene, Kazui turns to look at Whiskey, saying the lyrics:

"laughing together, side by side, this distance in our relationship is misleading me, is this what happiness is?"

With my guess (cuz that's really what it is there's no evidence for it) that Whiskey is the Bartender's wife i think this scene is Kazui being conflicted with what he's been told is true, that marrying Hinako is "true love", versus what he feels is true, that marrying Hinako has brought distance into their relationship.

He looks at Whiskey, a woman happily married, and wonders why his relationship with Hinako isn't like that.

in this post he points out that Hinako and Kazui's rings are silver in Cat, not gold like they were in Half, yet Bartender's ring colour stays the same.

For the sake of this writing I'm going to go with the first meaning they put out, that Bartender's ring is gold because his marriage is genuine.

But wait!! I hear you ask. This is Half and Kazui's ring is still gold in Half!! EXACTLY MY FRIEND!!

Kazui's ring IS still gold in Half because at the time of these scenes he's still fooling himself that this relationship is good, that he will eventually garner real romantic feelings for Hianko.

Remember this lyric that plays during the Whiskey -> Hinako scene. You know what other scene in Half this lyric reminds me of?

He's beginning to doubt if what he believes is true, he's beginning to believe the feelings telling him something's wrong (and remember, the scene right after this one is when he confesses (?) his secret to Hinako) ARE infact true, and that maybe the logic he's been following for so long has a couple holes in it.

I think these scenes are meant to show Kazui gradually realising that his relationship with Hinako will not work out. It just won't, no matter how hard he tries.

He's able to laugh together and talk with Whiskey because she's his friend, yet he can't do the same with his own wife? Even though, according to his gold ring, their relationship is supposed to be real and true and genuine?
