      SHE HAD MEANT IT TEASINGLY when referencing the failed similarity - of course it was quite obvious that storm wasn’t much like sonic.  other than the joke of speed, the two creatures fell flat in comparisons after that; hence the comment on her side.  still, dawn faltered in engaged confidence with vanellope’s response, hoping she hadn’t come off as DEMEANING in the end of what had been said.  sometimes her bubbly, talkative nature had a way of coming off too strong for others to handle, and the brunette had yet to learn when to reel herself in.  despite everything warm regarding her, it only made it more difficult for her to occasionally make friends of her fellow peers.

            the other reason being the more blatant one.  it wasn’t often that others wanted to w a i t around for dawn to quite literally keep up with adventures.

      “same.”  much quieter, almost thoughtful.  hands twisted around themselves, glancing to her legs splayed and her poles nearby.  how cool would it be to move so speedy…  or even to move normal.  a thought she tried not to dwell on, but it would always be an invasive one at times.  impossible to go through each day without just wondering, if even for a moment.

                    momentary lapse of sorrow was swiftly relinquished as storm was off again.  the child tilted her head as she sorted through some of her internal ponderings.  dawn was w e l l aware as to how blessed she was.  to live in a family that could get her a support canine, that had multiple other pets, a massive house with plenty of beds and a pool and things to play with… two older siblings - one adopted - and two loving and engaged parents.  there were a number of things she was sometimes took for granted, being familiar with it all, only to recollect in moments like this that others weren’t so lucky.

         storm was a black blur, but this time as he retrieved the ball, he bopped it around with his nose some in order to scurry after it along the ground with slobbery excitement.  dawn’s chest bubbled with delighted giggles at the sight.

                   “well, then you can just come and play with storm whenever you like!  or our other pets.  we’ve got a couple so if you like cats, we got those, too!  they don’t do fetch, but they like their feather toys and chasing this little mouse on a string toy we got.  it’s pretty funny to watch them!”

“Ah, Sonic’s a bit more blue than him, too. It wasn’t a perfect match.”

Vanellope shrugged aside the comparison. Not that Dawn’s point wasn’t valid; but she was used to people ignoring or outright not caring for her game-themed nicknames. Analysing whether it fit well or not was a new one for her… and truthfully not something that she ever gave much thought to before using them on a whim.

“’s still impressive, though. Wish I could move as fast as him.”

She could be a speedy little thing in her own right too, when she set her mind to it. But even so, she had a feeling that Storm would leave her in the dust any day, if it ever came down to a race.

Speaking of fast, here he came right back all at once. The small girl bounced excitedly in place; for a moment she thought he might be about to bowl her straight over - and honestly? there were worse ways to go down than that - but he stopped sharply before her. Guess that was part of his assistance dog training, she supposed, learning not to run small kids down.

And he was ready for round two… Vanellope scooped up the ball again, ignoring the way it was slightly slobbery now, raised it ready to throw. A slightly mischievous glint flashed through the child’s eyes as the idea of teasing him with a fake-throw occurred to her, but she held that thought to herself for the current moment. Maybe later; for now she was just enjoying seeing him run.

Her gaze trailed back as her new friend spoke, postponing the throw for a moment. A chuckle escaped the raven-haired girl, albeit a slightly wistful one.

“Yeah, it’s a nice thought, but I don’t see that happening as long as I’m in Mr. Bill’s house. I think I already drive ‘im up the wall when it’s just me; having a dog around too would probably cost him what little hair he has left!”

That response given, she let the ball fly again, spinning its way down the schoolyard once more.

If Kabru gets to be naked then so does Kuro, equality for all 🔥Not to break the mystique but in that intro comic Kuro isn't flexing he's just pushing Mickbell away bc he about to be in business mode gdbdg. Was weird trying to make Kuro look more demony, did not work very well except for making him buffer but hey...! A black dog demon yeah yeah yeah...!

I have accidentally recreated Howl's Moving Castle... NOW HEAR ME OUT- The base concept for my satyr Kabru AU (the initial idea was the sketch where he has no horns haha) now turned demon AU was materializing Kabru's fear of anything monster, particularly his insecurity as a kid of being an incubus('s child and that making him a monster), and helping him work through it so he can love himself and others and the world better, but everything started clicking only after thinking about Kuro's role in the setting more. He's this feared dude with a witchy reputation and a lil rhyme about how everyone should stay away from him for their own sake etc etc, but he's not a demon just a dog dude really. The setting in this AU is much like Dunmeshi, but all monsters are called "demons" instead and tied with this concept of demonic not just monstrous, there's special generalized fear in them being kinda fundamentally evil. But they're just beasts, and sometimes just demihuman races, like Kuro. Magic does exist though, and curses, and yeah just a folk kinda vibe!

Kabru because he's become supernatural knows how to speak Kuro's tongue now too, or maybe he's always known it idk... But Kabru sought Kuro out because he's The demon guy around, thought if anyone around would know how to do anything about his having become a monster it'd be him- Mickbell is there too ig like waaa this innocent-looking (def isn't) human loves this demon and lives with him, alone but peaceful as hermits in the woods? Wah wild. Wah we can still have love?? Wah we can fall in love together and live happy monster lives even if ostracized??! Wah wait I'm not even a monster it was just my own latent magical powers cursing myself because I worried and believed myself to be a demon so intensely for so long?!! Wah we can truly have it all...... Growth feels so nice. Except Mickbell, that grown ass man is not finding inner peace yet. Still he's chill here since he's a side char not a main one

It's how Kuro's confident in himself despite everything being stacked against him, it's how he still trusts and likes himself, it's how he just wants a simple happy life and pursues what he wants, it's how he takes things simply... Self-critical Kabru always neglecting himself over obsessing about the greater good could learn from him........ Kuro is the only one after his transformation that unconditionally welcomes him and shows him compassion and it's all so confusing to him, especially since at first Kabru wouldn't even offer that same humanization to Kuro, only risked it out of necessity for his own circumstances, but he gradually becomes able to see the humanity in him despite his appearance, mannerisms, way of life and ideals, until he sees the humanity in him and himself too despite their appearances, until he finds there's nothing wrong in this routine and life of theirs in this isolated magical little place, until........... Just about accepting all of those fuzzy inbetween ways to be that are unclean and hard to understand from the outside, and growing comfortable in them and loving himself and kuro and the life they've made together.......!!!!!! What if through humanizing you I humanized myself... What if through growing a understanding for each other wevalidated ourselves, love as self-love...

I love including Rin into things, for a more plotty story it'd be neat if she tried and followed Kabru... He up and disappeared and she's a capable mage and she doesn't know what his plan was because he never tells her anything so she goes out and pursues him- Could even be the main antagonist besides just idk self-hate and townspeople lol, like she thinks Kuro is keeping him prisoner or something and also because she kinda represents the same kinda social trauma Kabru has, where she's strict about conforming and being an irreproachable undeniable human so she kind of wants to drag him back to that state he was in of anxiety over acting and being human enough...... But of course in the ultimate confrontation when she has her staff pointed at Kuro and they talk, she's hurt by him not confiding in her and thinking of her as someone who wouldn't help, but she understands and stops and yay happy ending :> And if we want them to be in this Holm and Dia may be allies I feel 🤔Like maybe they help out Kabru when they see him, help him escape their human village at one point or something, Holm is quite nice and cares for spirits and Dia's fled her home too so they kinda get it in a way, it'd contrast Rin... This isn't about the Laios party lol. Rin & Mickbell shenanigans would lowkey be fun like maybe Mickbell tricks Rin into thinking Kabru IS there against his will so she can take him away and the status quo of Mickbell not having to share Kuro with anyone is preserved, or maybe they just shittalk and grumble together. Gbdgd this is a plotline about accepting change and these two are noooot happy about it

So yeah he hates being a monster that's the schtick!! Won't a cool dog man pleaseeee turn me human again. Surely he can do that right. So he goes to live with this feared coolass magicky guy and that guy's little guy at his weird home and through making connections and self-love the curse you actually unknowingly put on yourself gradually lessens and disappears, but you don't care anymore because that's the point 😌 Which is why I call it a Howl's Moving Castle recolor gdbd

Kabru is usually the voice of reason within kurokabu so it's really fun switching the roles in that way. If you're just stumbling into this and are sooo confused first of all congrats on getting so far second I can't overstate how unironic this is + if you want more explanation about the ship I made a brainstormy manifesto here <3 Like, did you know Kuro's name is actually Yodan? He was likely called Kuro by Mickbell due to the language barrier. In this AU it's because no one's interested in him as a person so people just give him an ominous title that means black. But Kabru learning his name and Kuro willingly giving away that information and Kabru feeling the weight of it because he really thinks this'd allow him to control him (he can't actually control bc he's not a demon! No one's a demon yay! Just weirdo humans who get otherized)......

Fourteen Days of MHA | 7/14: First Impressions, Just One Bad Day

Shouta’s first impression of Yamada is that he’s loud.

He’d thought Shirakumo, who deposits their classmate in the seat across from him in the cafeteria and scurries away with a cry of Shouta, this is Hizashi, be friends! was bad, but Yamada’s YO! is loud enough that several people at nearby tables turn their heads to look.

“It’s Aizawa, right?” he says, still too loud, leaning across the table. At least he doesn’t assume familiarity just because Shirakumo introduced him by his given name. “I’m Yamada Hizashi. I’m in your class, but I sit waaay in the back, so you might not remember—”

Shouta does remember. Yamada has very distinctive hair, and Shouta had thought he was loud in the classroom, too. He might sit near the back, but their homeroom is definitely not big enough that he has to yell during attendance to be heard.

Yamada is undeterred by Shouta’s continuing silence as he launches into what, for all intents and purposes, is an opening monologue of relevant information. Every so often, he pauses like he’s waiting for Shouta to cut in, which of course he doesn’t, so Yamada forges ahead, gesturing with his chopsticks in hand but never quite managing to pause long enough to actually eat anything.

Shouta has to appreciate the logic of having an introductory speech prepared. Maybe he should do the same, so he doesn’t have to sit in awkward silence at times like this. At least times like this are few and far between.

You can only have so many first days of school in your life. One day he’ll graduate and never have to introduce himself to a new class again.

thinking out loud for fic writing purposes. this is not about canon. or maybe it is? idk. but this is mainly for fic, so I'm more hand-waivy with the canonicity of details.

so how does diving and the 12 hour rule work? if lu guang stays past 12 hours, he permanently lives in that body and can't dive anymore. that's the current assumption, right?

okay so now. hypothetically, let's say there are three timelines: A, B, C. let's say lu guang dives from timeline A -> B then from B -> C. let's assume that he hops between parallel/multiple timelines and doesn't loop within the same timeline.

can I safely assume that as long as the 12h isn't up, he's free to hop in any timeline within those 12h, without requiring a death transfer of abilities? e.g. is it possible to dive within a dive? recursive diving? diveception?

if you dive into someone's body, do you have access to their ability? I think cheng xiaoshi technically "experienced" the twins' abilities but didn't know what was going on at the time, and didn't "use" it himself. if you know how to use the ability though, could you use it for yourself? so for example, if lu guang, who knows how to dive because of the death transfer and has dived before, possessed cheng xiaoshi, could he use cheng xiaoshi's dive abilities and dive as cheng xiaoshi? my head is spinning just thinking this

let's say lu guang goes from B -> C. 12h pass so he's stuck there, but cheng xiaoshi dies and transfers the ability so lu guang can dive again. if he goes to the first 12h of his dive in timeline B, and then tries to "exit" the dive by clapping out, which timeline would he end up in? A or C? that is, I guess the question is which "version" of him does the dive ability respond to...? his body in timeline B, which was diving from timeline A? or the lu guang who's diving from timeline C? when you dive, your body disappears, so...

when lu guang hops between timelines, does he erase ("overwrite") the lu guang that's local to the timeline he hops into after 12h? does the lu guang of that timeline "die" or does he "merge" with the lu guang of the other timeline? is there a meaningful difference? the only difference would be in memories, I suppose, but memories shape identity...

the last two aren't really questions, but just some concepts I've been thinking about. again, this is for fic purposes, so this isn't any statement about canon or anything.

the concept of photographs as a snapshot of spacetime. but in particular, if parallel timelines exist (which liu xiao believes to be true), then are photographs considered like connecting points between timelines? if you in timeline A took a picture of the sunset while you're in the basketball court during university, and the you in timeline B did the same during highschool, and the circumstances between those two nodes are similar (same people are in the court, same time and place). would those two pictures act like portals to each other's timelines?

the purpose of the high five as an anchor to the current timeline, so the diver can enter and exit within their home timeline instead of hopping in parallel ones. this is not necessarily true in canon, as we see cheng xiaoshi clap himself into surveillance footage all the time and not worry about parallel timelines. but again, this is for fic, so it's (hand waves) whatever. or maybe... the camera itself serves as an anchor? hmmmmm

hi I've been violently ill and drifting in and out of consciousness for three days it is currently past midnight so, obviously,, I am thinking about my Boys blorbos getting sick and how that would go now hear me out:

I'm thinking that if Maeve was ever coming down with something she'd just start chugging energy drinks and try to shoot punching bags through the walls of Vought tower about it because she's FINE and just needs to sweat it out. First of all being strong and nigh invincible is her whole shtick, her place on the team, her job, it's what she's supposed to do, so when Annie asks her if she needs to lie down she'll be incensed with herself that she couldn't fool everyone and will project her anger into lashing out telling Annie to stop trying to crawl up her asshole and mind her own fucking business for once.

(Homelander can obviously tell with all his vague hypersensitivity nonsense and he respects Maeve for not being a little bitch baby about it. That said he will be staying ten feet away from her at all times which starts rumors about the two of them having issues with each other. When Madelyn/Ashley/whoever is in charge at the time figures it out they privately beg Maeve to just take a fucking aspirin in the morning for the love of god.)

sidenote I mean she's probably having a shit time of it because could she even be vaccinated?? Against anything?? Has Maeve ever even gotten as much as a flu shot with her whole bulletproof skin deal??? Sure my girl is impenetrable by conventional means but I'm telling you right now a cold would knock her OUT this shit sucks even if your body is used to it (and yes I will be a little bitch baby about it for the foreseeable future myself)

So when Maeve actually passes out mid-rescue mission, all Annie does is fry every device with camera capabilities in sight. Maeve doesn't yell at her (as much) after that.

I'm going to retire a few groups from the main masterlist and I've been debating for the past year about it...
