what's always going to be funny to me is how horrified michael looked when castiel blasted the memory of au!michael into his brain but i think at some point adam just turns the topic of him into a joke. like he's trying to convince michael to play a round of candy crush for shits and giggles and michael starts being his whole "that sounds stupid as hell" self and adam's like Hm. Shame. I Bet The Other You Could've Beat It and suddenly michael is forcibly possessing the body and speedrunning the whole game

scrolling through the dt tag and I *really* don’t like that people are questioning michael and anna’s relationship/marriage or whatever

like the whole “look at this photo and you can see they’re unhappy” type shit and hyper-analyzing them in favor of the fact that David and Michael are great friends or more to these people… just- why is it any of our business? Yes, they have public lives and public reputation, but does that mean we, as their fans, should be entitled to pick apart their relationship with a fine tooth comb? Why do we feel privy to that info? And yes, it would be one thing to be concerned if someone were being harmed in a relationship and god forbid if that were happening but like… just because of like two photos? Suddenly it’s “how do they have children together, they clearly look uncomfortable together, she’s possessive, she’s jealous of dt and gt”

I hate to sound like a piece of shit but also please realize that it’s just not our business as fans to do that type of shit? Idk sometimes I do think there’s merit behind saying “touch grass” because why are we meddling in people’s lives who want to entertain us and are talented? They don’t do that shit to us so why do we do it to them?

Saw an OC Link generator on Instagram and w the prompts got: a hero after Hyrule on the timeline, fairy companion, age 25-34, brown or blonde hair, long hair, black eyes (took that as very very dark lol), sheikah clothing and incorporating a magic ability somewhere.

So umm idk started sketching and getting more and more ideas but gist of the guy would be that he's on the older end of the range I was given, early 30s. He'd be very skilled in stealth and archery. Link married pretty young, they had a daughter, but he lost his wife too soon. He and his girl need each other though, they're all they have. Since this is downfall timeline after Zelda 2, that means the fairy spell exists and wanna say his daughter uses that so they can stay close and travel together (magic ability and fairy companion in one TvT.)

The tribe doesn't exist in the same way it did in earlier Hyrule, but the guy has some Sheikah ancestry. He feels the responsibility of those who came before him to protect the crown, which comes into play as rumors begin to spread in the kingdom of a plot against the queen. Guys hurting a lot, but, being tied by fate w the queen, think as he works to keep her safe they get closer and help each other through things. And like who knows maybe someday there will be more to it but very close and trusted friends by the end of things for sure akskfk (plus Zelda is a sweet lady and can see Link's daughter adores her.)

Stafford Parents Okay but I am LOVING the idea that their parents put a lot of importance in action-- I definitely think it makes a lot of sense for both sisters!!! I am imagining since their mother died so young were actively involved in their father's royal affairs as soon as they were old enough? (especially considering Eilia was the heir which would technically make aria the spare?? which aria DEFINITELY ignored at all cost-- she def would spiral any time she considered that possibility.) i was wondering if perhaps aria, when she was old enough too, took up the mantle of being a patron/etc to these different things/groups/etc around Astaira which had originally been her mother's! i feel like the court/friends/whatever had tons of stories about her mother (because Aria would've been like..2 years old when she died I think?) that she'd heard over the years and she was aspiring to be as good as her mother! i dunno where this would really come from (mostly their dad i guess?) but i think they were trying to push the idea that being a queen/ruling class is about caring for the country and its people and their happiness/safety reflects back on a successful monarchy ruler. (also now wondering if they considered themselves/the queen/king "gods chosen" in the same way roderick does-- it seems like maybe that's not how the old religion would really see them but that's neither here nor there really...)

also knowing that their dad died pretty early on and while they definitely have more memories of HIM that their mother I could see where the whole lot of them have this very idealized versions of both their parents in their mind that is almost impossible to live up to in some way? that might be part of the reason why she (and maybe eilia too?) has this very strange idea that she isn't doing enough to try and fix the situation they're all in thanks to roderick!!

and because this is sort of a stream of consciousness word vomit rambling thing i'm ALSO wondering if even though they had fairly good familial relationships, maybe there was not really a forum to express emotions/concerns/etc within the family unit which is why now Aria/Eilia are in this weird sort of 'i don't want to be a burden/i am a burden/i don't want them to feel like a burden!' cycle because they aren't really that great at expressing their emotions to each other?? the whole like "we have to be strong for each other/our country" and a kind of guilt trip "things could be WAY WORSE" sort of thing

Old Religion/Guardians/Etc so to then pivot to Aria's abilities... i think she has had the ability for as long as she can remember! my idea was She talked a lot about seeing things/creatures/etc as a kid and I image her family probably thought she was just a kid who had imaginary friends, etc… but then as she got older and the stories continued/she could better articulate exactly what she was seeing they were like “ohh okay, that’s not just imagination.” Knowing there’s sort of two paths to follow when one has the ability to see/sense the guardians— being okay with it or kind of going crazy— she was probably kept a bit more secluded for a time so that if she did go the crazy route, she wasn’t out in public raving like a loon. I DO think pretty quickly it was concluded she was not going to lose her mind BUT then her abilities set up another set of concerns— even though the idea of seers wasn’t necessarily treated as a crime in Astaira it still would open her up to being a target from foreign entities (#roderick) along with potentially being seen as promoting the “old religion” despite the fact Astaira had a more open view on people’s religions! so the decision was made that it needed to remain a secret amongst the family (which really wasn’t that hard honestly). also now thinking this all maybe happened not long before their father died so she was kinda struggling with coming to terms with this ability/what it meant while they're all in mourning and her older sister is now the queen! (which obviously meant aria saw her less and while i think aria always knew that was going to happen it was still a shock/hard thing for her to deal with and i think aria tried to step up and be that person for siobhan but never felt like she actually was any good at it!) buuut anyway I think she had to figure out a lot of this guardian business out for herself along with trying to keep it under wraps so again it’s a part of her life she MAYBE put some unnecessary pressure on??

(also on the same note going off all that awesome info regarding witches lizzy posted, i was also thinking that aria never had an powers manifest which could be potential drama in the future for everyone if something happened that WOULD make some power manifest-- especially depending on who that might happen in front of!)

anyway this is, like i said, semi insane sounding rambling about things and i'm always open to changing thoughts on ANY of this but yes... it is here XD

I finally FINALLY got hubby to sit down with me and agree to watch LOST. He’s seen like the first season and a half and wasn’t too keen on it at all (and he’s heard a lot about how it kinda starts to fall apart halfway through) but he also knows that I’m a big fan with a big fanfiction in progress and I’ve been wanting to rewatch the show to check on some details for the fic. I’ve already found like eight things I need to modify and we’re only three episodes in.

Also I can tell I’ve matured because while I’m still fond of my sassy Sawyer, Sayid is like, my fave? He’s so sweet and he’s got those big dark eyes and that dorito-shaped chest (nowhere near as intense as Chris Evans but it’s there and based on gifs I think it gets more prominent in later seasons). And I cried when we first saw all of the main characters in that first episode. My baby Claire, my stressed Jack, my stoned Charlie and Kate and Vincent and Walt and Hurley and—

Uhhgh. I love these people so much.

Tomorrow, the fic revising begins!!!

More thoughts on @djrusso-romance 's indie publishing takeaway, I just didn't want to ramble on her post too much lol

If you're writing/designing a book solely on your preferences you might not snag as much of a mainstream audience as you want. Book covers especially have certain cues that audiences learn to associate with certain things they want in books, like for romance readers that whole thing about if there's a dog on the cover, it's likely to be closed door romance, but if you have a shirtless guy on the cover and there's no on-page sex, people will Be Mad, etc. There's a whole range of things you can do with a cover that signal content expectations to a reader. And unfortunately that's something that's built from the entire genre's decades of marketings and what current trends are. There's a reason why there's endless discourse in the romance reader community about cutesy illustrated covers being the new norm for spicy books, because it's a 180 turn from how expectations used to be in the last 10 years or so. (I will never forget my cousin waving The Hating Game at me and saying, "why did no one tell me the little cartoon people on this are gonna fuck???" But now half her bookcase is filled with this kind of cover, lol.)

So you have to speak the market's language to draw in new readers, especially new to you readers. They don't know the quality of story you can deliver, so you have to position your book as something that would be shelved with what else theyve read, so they're willing to give it a try. This is why literary agents beat book comps to death.

Sometimes the vision for your book clashes with those cues, and you end up having to weigh what's more important to you. I actually ended up seeing this happen with Love Laugh Lich and Orc from the Office, bc orc has a typical broadchested guy on it, and Lich doesn't. The difference between those book's launches is staggering. Though plenty enjoy both books, I do sometimes see a hard divide between ppl who only like the first book or only like the second.

Having done freelance cover design, sometimes you get authors who don't want to compromise on their creative vision with currently selling trends. And that's their choice. Some people view it as selling out on their creativity, but when I hear that, it tells me they haven't considered that there is a business side of being an author that requires market research.
