HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAAAAY!
Here are some of the women on my diva shelf ✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Hallaway, and Victoria Beckham
I was immediately enamored with the spice girls after hearing “wannabe.” These women were loud, bold, wore short dresses, platform heels, and screamed “GIRL POWER” from the rooftops. They stood for feminism and friendship. Also Spice World is still a hilarious movie.
Lucy Parsons
Lucy was an anarchist through and through. She blew a lot of shit up with dynamite. She was a founder of the Industrial Workers of the World, wrote in several socialist and anarchist newspapers, gave speeches, and took shit from absolutely no one. The Chicago PD once described her as “more dangerous than 1,000 rioters.”
“Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth.”
“Strike not for a few cents more an hour, because the price of living will be raised faster still, but strike for all you earn, be content with nothing less."
“You are not absolutely defenseless. For the torch of the incendiary, which has been known with impunity, cannot be wrested from you."
“So many able writers have shown that the unjust institutions which work so much misery and suffering to the masses have their root in governments, and owe their whole existence to the power derived from government. We cannot help but believe that were every law, every title deed, every court, and every police officer or soldier abolished tomorrow with one sweep, we would be better off than now.”
Harriet Tubman
She was born a slave, escaped slavery, then helped other enslaved people escape. She helped formerly enslaved people find work, and helped John Brown plan the raid on Harper’s Ferry. She was a nurse, cook, and a motherfucking SPY during the civil war. She was the first woman to lead an armed expedition in war.
“I grew up like a neglected weed, – ignorant of liberty, having no experience of it. Then I was not happy or contented.”
“I had crossed the line. I was free; but there was no one to welcome me to the land of freedom. I was a stranger in a strange land; and my home after all, was down in Maryland; because my father, my mother, my brothers, and sisters, and friends were there. But I was free, and they should be free.
“I have heard their groans and sighs, and seen their tears, and I would give every drop of blood in my veins to free them”
Glennon Doyle & Brené Brown
Both of these authors have been such a positive influence on my life. I would recommend that everyone read “Untamed” by Glennon Doyle, and “The Power of Vulnerability” by Brené Brown. IMO it’s required life reading.
Glennon Doyle, Untamed:
“This life is mine alone. So I have stopped asking people for directions to places they’ve never been.”
“I will not stay, not ever again - in a room or conversation or relationship or institution that requires me to abandon myself.”
“I am here to keep becoming truer, more beautiful versions of myself again and again forever. To be alive is to be in a perpetual state of revolution. Whether I like it or not, pain is the fuel of revolution. Everything I need to become the woman I’m meant to be next is inside my feelings of now. Life is alchemy, and emotions are the fire that turns me to gold. I will continue to become only if I resist extinguishing myself a million times a day. If I can sit in the fire of my own feelings, I will keep becoming.”
“I did not know that I was supposed to feel everything. I thought I was supposed to feel happy. I thought that happy was for feeling and that pain was for fixing and numbing and deflecting and hiding and ignoring. I thought that when life got hard, it was because I had gone wrong somewhere. I thought that pain was weakness and that I was supposed to suck it up. But the thing was that the more I sucked it up, the more food and booze I had to suck down.”
Brené Brown:
“You are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging.”
“No one reaches out to you for compassion or empathy so you can teach them how to behave better. They reach out to us because they believe in our capacity to know our darkness well enough to sit in the dark with them.”
“Stop walking through the world looking for confirmation that you don’t belong. You will always find it because you’ve made that your mission. Stop scouring people’s faces for evidence that you’re not enough. You will always find it because you’ve made that your goal. True belonging and self-worth are not goods; we don’t negotiate their value with the world. The truth about who we are lives in our hearts. Our call to courage is to protect our wild heart against constant evaluation, especially our own. No one belongs here more than you.”
Courtney Love
I love Hole. So much. And Courtney is a fucking bad ass to the highest degree.
“I strap on that motherfucking guitar and you cannot fuck with me. That's my feeling."
“I used to do drugs, but don't tell anyone or it will ruin my image.”
“I'm not a woman. I'm a force of nature.”
Marsha “Pay It No Mind” Johnson
Marsha was an activist in New York City during the Stonewall Riots. She threw a lot of rocks and bricks at cops. It’s rumored that she threw the first brick that was a catalyst for the LGBT movement in the US. Marsha and her friend Sylvia Rivera founded the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR).
“STAR is a very revolutionary group. We believe in picking up the gun, starting a revolution if necessary. Our main goal is to see gay people liberated and free and have equal rights that other people have in America.”
“No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.”
“Darling, I want my gay rights now.”
IF YOU MADE IT THIS FAR THANK YOU FOR READING MY THOUGHTS ON THESE FUCKING AMAZING WOMEN!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️

The Magician (forward and reverse), and The World in reverse, please. :)
The Magician: How does your character unleash their creativity or resourcefulness?
Odesyn is at his best when he’s stressed. he isn’t particularly artistic but when he needs to unwind he enjoys making things like flower crowns.
The Magician, Revered:
When was your character manipulated? A ship captain once used Odesyn to find a dangerous artifact that killed it’s previous owner, a man that captain once called friend. Once they found it, the captain tried killing Odesyn but to no avail. The favored soul managed to get away with his life
The World Reversed: What is your character holding back?
Odesyn is holding back a lot of resentment toward his goddess for only saving him from a deadly storm. It manifests as survivor’s guilt and when it gets really bad it drives him to drink. That’s rare though but when it does happen he drinks heavily
Thanks for asking friend! :)

i-am-the-incendiary-anarchist replied to your post “
Dimplomacy & Stealth
”
I'm convinced Reign of Winter is cursed. I've been in two groups that ran it and both ended early. Neither got past book 3
Well, it would be fitting that an adventure path that’s all about Baba Yaga would be cursed. Right up @wearehag ‘s alley.
That’s not why it doesn’t tend to last, I don’t think. There are a few major problems with an otherwise brilliantly designed adventure.
Arctic Survival Simulation
I ran it for total newbs and, before character creation, realized that they would have an especially hard time of it because of the weather rules. With winter, you have to deal with water freezing (affecting your rations), maintaining body heat (cold damage and hypothermia rules), difficult terrain (snow slowing movement, ice requiring Acrobatics/Balance checks), and low visibility.
And that’s constant.
If you’re in the sort of group that likes simulating the adventure aspect, that could be a lot of fun. However, for a lot of people, that’s mostly just hassle. The Player’s Guide has a trait that grants Cold Resistance (I think it was like 2) and there’s a cloak in the first adventure that gives something like that, so pretty quickly the basic survival aspect goes out the window...except for having drinking water, for which you have fire spells. The spark cantrip works really well here.
But again, here we are at the problem with at-will cantrips applied to what cantrips we get. Create water negates a big problem with desert campaigns and breeze makes them much easier. Suddenly, what was a problem of survival becomes a problem of movement and visibility, which is just annoying. For the simulationists, magic has ruined the fun; for everyone else, magic isn’t doing enough.
Rails + No Down Time
Once you get your TARDIS Dancing Hut, you’d think you’d have access to literally anywhere in the cosmos. Even if you were wanting to stick to the campaign, that should mean that you could go back to town whenever you want (so long as you can get back to the Dancing Hut).
...but no.
There is only one point at which the party can easily back out of matters: before they walk through the portal from Taldor to Irrisen. After that, they’re pretty much stuck going through the adventure as it wants them to, especially once they get to the Hut. Instead of a TARDIS, it works more like a train going from one station to the next, only they have to buy a ticket (find special objects in the hut) to get to the next station.
The plot does not let up, either. Given that you’re going from 1st level at the very beginning to 17th level (or so) by the end of the AP but you never have time to craft, buy or sell items, or really decompress, it’s like half of what you might want to do as a character is forbidden.
There’s very little player agency with this one. It’s an epic-enough path that it needs to be a full AP, but it plays like an overextended single adventure.
Russian Folklore
Without getting into the frequent Tumblr posts about whether not to draw from cultures outside the norm in fantasy, you have to play to your audience. Chances are, you’re not going to have a group that is big on Slavic mythology. I was unfortunate to have a group that didn’t know anything about Rasputin, the Romanovs, or the Russian Revolution -- topics I thought were covered in high school and were interesting enough that everyone knew a teeny bit about.
When you’re running an adventure that takes away a lot of player agency, it usually does so (as indeed is the case here) because it wants to treat them as audience members and delight them with references. If they don’t get the references, they’re not going to be entertained, which ruins the adventure.
Hack and Slash
What agency players do have is in how they approach combat. There’s not a lot they can do, however: most everything they find is hostile due to being a fey bound to winter (mechanically via a template that makes them evil; I think the justification is that it’s part of Baba Yaga et al’s rule). 90% of your interactions are just fights. Sure, the encounter design (from what I’ve read and run) is fantastic, but many a group will grow tired of only getting to run around killing things.

9, 10, 16, and 19 for the D&D ask meme pretty please?
9. Your favorite thing about D&D.-I started playing dnd as a way to spend more time with my cousins, who when we were kids were more like sisters, and it has worked very well. It’s great to be able to spend time with them and the other members of my group. So I’d say my favorite thing is getting the chance to tell a story and go through all kinds of shenanigans with my friends.10. Your favorite enemy and the enemy you hate the most.-The Oblex is the fucking worst. Specifically because my dm is able to make it so fucking creepy. The sound he made and how he moved to show us out of the game...it bothered me and scared me quite a lot. So I would say that is the worst. As for favorite enemy, my favorite to fight would be a demon. I currently am playing a warforged paladin so being able to get that extra d8 damage and just the opportunity to destroy a physical embodiment of evil; and that is so satisfying. Favorite enemy to rp: dragons. Just dragons. They are giant scaly beasts with a massive intelligence. You can give them fun personalities and just have fun being a giant winged monstrosity who can raze a town to the ground with it’s breath. What’s not to love?
16. Do you play online or in person? Which do you prefer?-I play online and in person. Online can be very fun, but in person is definitely my favored way to play.
19. Do you or your party have any dice superstitions?-I have 3 sets of dice, so if a d20 is performing poorly I will switch. Not that it actually helps. As for my party, there is a set of green die my dm has and we all dread the sight of those things.

i-am-the-incendiary-anarchist replied to your post “The collective is such a diverse set of folks, it's really nice to see...”
I don't think being the most or least diverse really needs to be a contest.
No. But acknowledgements of diversity should really be directed to the collective’s diverse members and not to the oldmun.
Again I am not expressing myself well.

Oh The Anarchy! | Felyn and Moxie |
Sometimes Felyn’mice thought she should go into potion selling full time. She liked it, and they sold so well. She could make a good life out of this. Maybe buy a little shop and settle down with her hedgehogs. Maybe even take on a knitting circle. Ah, so exciting...
For now though, she had some potions to sell. The temple her apparently had a bit of a fire problem. They’d requested fire removal spells, but the most she could offer was quell energy. That seemed to satisfy them. Whatever it was, she got the feeling that they weren’t dealing with forest fires.
As she made her way to the old temple, she took note of the gathering of tents and other stands around the castle. Oh, it must have been some kind of festival! Felyn smiled to herself. It looked like she’d come at just the right time. However, the closer she got, the less festive and more chaotic it looked. Even the castle doors were open. What in the world?
“Maybe it’s a tourist trap?” she wondered aloud as she made her way inside. It certainly didn’t look clean enough to be one, though.

🍻🌷-👗🔪
🍻 Odesyn has a decent tolerance but is prone to heavy drinking.
🌷His parents owned a small garden on the roof of their shop when he was a child and one of his favorite chores was watering and talking to the flowers to help them grow. But his proficiency with plants only goes skin deep.
👗He dresses with style when someone throws fanciful clothes at him and tell him how to wear them. Beyond that he wears basic cloths and mud stained boots.
🔪 Odesyn is proficient with simple weapons but his favorite is a cutlass from his time at sea. He isn’t quite the swashbuckler he wishes he could be but can hold his own in a fight.
