Keeping lysosomes in good shape is vital for normal cell function and they're known to be repaired or 'digested' if damaged. This study reveals a third way of dealing with the faulty sacs – by ejection from the cell (exocytosis), mediated by a protein called connexin 43

“We intend on standing at the airport with our airport themed images as part of our consumer protection initiative,” they say. “We will show their ‘consumer client’ what they would never dare to – abortion reality.”

The ICBR’s plan is to show images of aborted foetuses on placards.

“The more days we can organise volunteers to stand there, the more women will see these images and the fewer will undergo abortion,” they say.

“We will liaise with local crisis pregnancy centres and direct women who approach us to them for further counselling and support. But many no doubt will simply do a U-turn at the airport or never arrive for their abortion appointment having decided on life-affirming options for their babies.”

The ICBR are planning on holding the protests in the centre of Cork as well as Dublin and Cork airports.

But both airports have said they won’t give permission for the demonstrations to go ahead.

Two Postdocs, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL USA. Two postdoctoral positions in phylogenomics and evolution are available on butterflies and moths. The postdoc(s) may also have the opportunity to work on collaborative bat-moth projects with Dr. Jesse Barber and his team at Boise State University. The selected postdoc(s) will work at the Florida Museum of Natural History, on the University of Florida main campus in Gainesville, FL, USA. The selected candidate(s) should be able to communicate well in verbal and written English, have an understanding of phylogenetic methods, a solid publication record, and have computational experience in phylogenomic and/or comparative methods. Candidates should also be interested in training students, writing grants and be motivated to use genomic high-throughput sequencing data. The selected candidate will join a team of postdocs, graduate students, undergraduates, and staff scientists in the Kawahara Lab. The postdoc(s) will also work closely with local and international collaborators. Required: 1) A Ph.D. in molecular evolution, systematics, evolution, bioinformatics, genomics, or related field. 2) Solid publication record. 3) Some familiarity with analyzing next generation sequencing data, computer programming/scripting in Python, Perl, Java, C++, R or other language. Candidates with background experience in phylogenomics, biogeography, dating analyses will be highly considered. Salary: $50,000 USD plus benefits. O Boca do Céu foi a minha primeira banda de carreira e também dos meus colegas, então igualmente adolescentes nos anos setenta. A banda durou de 1976 a 1979 e não gravou nem ao mesmo uma demo-tape na ocasião, tendo ficado restrita a poucos shows e participações como concorrente em dois festivais estudantis.

Em 2020 os cinco componentes originais se reencontraram para uma confraternização festiva e surgiu a ideia de resgatarmos as nossas músicas compostas na década de setenta. Apenas o baterista original não está presente nesse processo atual, mas recrutamos um amigo nosso que é contemporâneo das mesmas lembranças que guardamos daquela década.

Carlinhos Machado é o baterista e também toca com o Los Interessantes Hombres Sin Nombres e comigo, n'Os Kurandeiros. Laert Sarrumor, vocalista e compositor do Língua de Trapo, foi o nosso vocalista desde 1976 e está conosco nessa fase do século XXI, ao lado do guitarrista Wilton Rentero e do fundador da banda, Osvaldo Vicino, e sim, com a minha presença (Luiz Domingues), na qualidade de cofundador.
