I just read your bpd post in relation to Ben and so much of it resonated with me. I have big issues with abandonment, my moods flip back and forth in an instant for seemingly no reason, and my fp does have the ability to impact my emotions and I take a lot out on her. I've googled bpd in the past out of curiosity in an attempt to work out why I behave in such extremes. Is it possible do you think to have bpd but not be aware of it? And how did you go about getting diagnosed? Thank you.
absolutely, you can have any kind of mental illness and not be aware of it. and you can also be aware of it and still not have a diagnosis. i kinda suspected i had bpd since i was like 15 - i was so relieved when i got my diagnosis i cried. mental health can be a complicated and scary thing. and if anything it’s good that you can recognise symptoms and patterns in yourself, regardless of what’s causing them!!
i got diagnosed at 18 by a psychiatrist i was seeing once a year (that’s a long and complicated story that i’d rather not get into, but basically due to some other circumstances i started seeing an adult psychiatrist once a year when i was abt 16) but i’d been in and out of CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health services) since i was 13/14 so my problems with my mental health were well documented in my medical history, plus i’d seen the psychiatrist who diagnosed me a couple of times over the years before that so she was kind of familiar with me, and was confident enough upon me turning 18 (the youngest you can get diagnosed w bpd) to diagnose me. i think i was very fortunate in that respect - people usually struggle a lot more to get a diagnosis than i did (although i did spend almost my entire time in CAMHS insisting what i had felt more serious than just depression/anxiety bc none of the treatments i was given were working, and basically being told that i was wrong and i should trust them bc they’re professionals so you know, i didn’t feel that fortunate.)
you can only get diagnosed by a mental health professional. idk where you’re from, but in the uk GPs can only diagnose more minor things like depression and anxiety, whereas if it’s something more serious like bpd or other disorders/illnesses, it has to be a mental health professional, like a psychiatrist. so really the only advice i can give you is to go see a doctor/mental health professional and discuss your symptoms and concerns. and as scary as it is, be as honest with them as you can be. if you’re not frank about what’s going on, they might not grasp the severity of your situation and therefore not treat it appropriately. a diagnosis isn’t necessarily an easy thing to get and it may take time, but be stern with your doctors!! if you think there’s something wrong, no matter what you think it is, don’t let them fob you off!! you know your mind best, not them!! take it from someone w experience!!! so don’t expect to get any kind of diagnosis just like that, bc they’ll often want to go down other avenues before they’ll go to something as serious as bpd, but it’s good to get the ball rolling.
if you’re in the uk you’re gonna want to go and see your GP so you can get shit moving asap, bc waiting times to get into the system (if you’re not already in it) are atrocious. depending on your GP and the waiting lists in your area, you may have to go back a few times. explain the situation as honestly as you can, tell them your concerns and suspicions and see what options they offer you. obviously depending on your personal situation and what’s offered you might feel happy w it, but try and make sure you’re referred to a local psychiatrist (your GP might do this without prompting, but i know some GPs are useless and/or dickheads lmao), bc like i said, GPs only have the ability to do so much. psychiatrists are the ones who have more power when it comes to mental health stuff, they’re the ones who can diagnose things and offer more fitting treatments. again, it might be some time before u actually see one, but just being on the waiting list is progress.
if you’re not from the uk, just follow whatever avenues are gonna enable you to be seen by a psychiatrist, be it by going to your family doctor and getting a referral or going out and finding one yourself. basically, you just wanna be seen by a mental health professional. i realize it may not be that simple if you have to pay for medical treatments and stuff, but if it’s an option for you i encourage you to do it, especially if it’s something that’s playing on your mind and affecting your life and relationships.
but i will say this: don’t dwell on it. do some more research, from a lot of different sources. research other mental illnesses and disorders, know what’s out there, but don’t let it get to you. be critical about what you read, always, esp when its opinion based stuff bc there is a lot of bs out there. don’t talk to your doctors expecting a bpd diagnosis, don’t tell the what you think they want to hear, just be honest. from the sounds of it you’re not regularly seeing a doctor for any other mental health stuff, so if you’ve never been been to the doctor for mental health stuff before, just try to be open to what they tell you and to the options they offer. be willing to give treatments a try. a lot of the time figuring out your mental health is just trial and error - do meds work, if so which ones? will therapy work, if so what kinds of therapy are gonna be most effective? if not, why not? it’s a lot of just trying stuff and seeing if it works. as long as you’re comfortable and you’re being seen regularly by a doctor/psychiatrist, don’t be afraid of trying things if you think they could help you.
and don’t be scared. i know it feels scary, and it can feel like the end of the world, but i promise you it’s not. it just is what it is, you know?
and again, i’m not a doctor. don’t just take what i’ve said and run with it, do your research, speak to trusted loved ones about it, and try and see a doctor if you can. with any kind of mental illness, regardless of if you have a diagnosis or not, or what that diagnosis is, you need help and support. don’t be scared of asking for it from wherever you can get it.
i hope this was helpful!!! feel free to message me again if u have any other questions!!!
best of luck, i hope you figure it out 💖💖💖

twenty nineteen. periodt.
i genuinely felt the need to write this because i was bored i have not written anything in a really long time. but mostly because there’s only a few who might read this and not care afterwards. it sucks to not be able to do something that i used to enjoy for quite a while. but here i am!
a lot of thoughts to unburden and a lot of unspoken feelings to unpack. let’s get to it, bih.
1. this year felt like it was dragging on. i wanted it to end asap.
so this year, i actually had A LOT of time. where did it go?
to: movies, series, anime, music, watching youtube videos, breakdowns, feeling stuck & paralyzed,  academics, reading articles about pop culture & mainstream shit, going out with friends, chatting random ppl at night bc i thought i could trust them (and some of them, i can), and etc.
but on a more serious note, i really was more into the world of media, of both mainstream and indie worlds. i still can’t believe i got through this semester when i have been doing these things unrelated to uni. some ppl are also baffled by this activity log that i have.
point is: i felt like a walking zombie. probably looked like one as well. there is this routine that i have to do and i got really sick of myself. i didn’t have the motivation to strive more. i was always either sleeping (at least for the first half of the year) or watching. it all feels lifeless. the latter part of the year, my body clock was wrecked. i did not like the weather during daytime. at all. i slept during the day when i did not have classes then i was awake at night. but i try to get as much sleep as i can because my health is declining. i think.
also this year felt like it had 3 sequels. unnecessary, boring, full-of-jump-scares type of sequels. fuck.
2. feeling anxious and chill at the same time.
the only thing that made me feel chill at the latter part of the year is the fact that this shit... like all these shitty things we’ve been doing... will pass anyway.
i don’t know if it’s because of the new system that was implemented but it definitely feels like the stress levels were high only during exam weeks. for real. i am grateful to have THAT kind of “stress privilege (??)” but i also wish i was stressing over something that gives me LIFE. i know i’m studying for something that will actually help me provide something for myself and for my family but my soul (oh crap here’s where things get cheesy) screams i should do something else.
my friend always tells me to chill but i couldn’t because there’s always that nagging thought that i have to do something productive everyday. i think it stems from past disappointments, failed expectations from ppl close to me, and just basically feeling like a failure. i’m a frantic mess who somehow has the time to do unnecessary things. wish the energy was put into finishing acads on time or earlier, but here we are. think they meant that i should be chill with mysef. to be kind to myself. to not panic and breathe.
another thing is that there’s a load of information shoved in my head that really paralyzes me to act on something.
3. leaving behind the things i’ve outgrown.
it’s so funny how i’ve met few new people this year who i already treasure only to have quite a number of people to walk out of my life.
it’s not really surprising to me. i think we all wanted it to happen anyway. i’m just happy that things kind of subtly fell apart for things to make more sense. the feeling is kind of like how a misplaced puzzle piece is put into its rightful place. finally, i don’t have to force myself and i think the feelings are mutual. anyway, this year was a revelation in itself despite how dragging the pacing felt. love how the gunk went out and i see now what i’ve been blind to. chuck the deuce! definitely a thank u, next moment.
4. meeting new people, unexpected unions.
i definitely did not expect to form connections and be reunited with some of my old friends this year. also witnessed deepened friendships.
there’s always this thing where i put my energy on a high level when i’m meeting new people just to seem decent and happy then slowly revealing how tired, sad, and boring i can be. then there’s that fear of losing people’s interest in me or people not becoming excited to talk to me about... anything really. never thought i’d have this fear of losing certain people in my life. i want to detach myself from that and from people themselves too (in a healthy way ofc).
i’ve never ever felt like i could lose people in an instant. there’s that thing where i worry if i’m too much or i’m lacking for people. so i appreciate people who let me know if i’m crossing the line or if i’m doing something that completely annoys them because i really want to be part of people’s lives, meaningfully and genuinely. a good one. i don’t want to half-ass my relationships with other people and i seek loving relationships that thrive and inspire where it doesn’t only get good at the start but is continually progressing even when we don’t see each other often. it’s fascinating how as we get older, we see how relationships are not as simple as we think they are but really are simple at the same time. we have different goals, we are at different stages in our lives, we are facing shit that nobody else seems to understand and things that don’t seem to end, and we can only hope that our mere presence and emotionally available hearts will listen to whatever the other person has to unburden.
to somehow let them know that they don’t need permission to rest and to do things that they are afraid of pursuing.
4a. discovering new artists.
AURORA: the most underrated artist for sure. watched every interview/video/set because she is that bitch. her SONGS, man. i swear. she is that ethereal fairy from the forest. her fucking voice just draws me in. she deserved a better role in frozen 2 tho. she needs to be a lead in a musical animated movie. idc idc i said what i said.
beabadoobee: fucking rockstar, reviving the 90s grunge music and looks.
Billie Eilish: a badass. hate how she still stans bieber tho.
5. daydreaming of a new life.
you don’t know how many times i’ve been dreaming to have a big house.
it’s time. we really need a new house. i’m not, as what the kids say, vibing with this old house anymore. this is what i wish to leave behind as soon as possible. how do i even get the MONEY to afford it? i’m just hoping for a miracle to happen, you know. i really wish my family gets to be in a better home soon.
i think if u know me, u might have caught me spacing out a few times.
idk why this always happens. it’s so rude to the person speaking to me but my mind literally drifts off to another planet. it’s not that they’re boring. i just can’t help it. i feel like shit thinking about how many times it has happened to me.
sometimes, i dream of being this whole new different person.
someone who is better than who i am. someone who is good at something and is passionate about the things she does. there are a lot of things i am interested in doing but i don’t have the courage to actually do it. idk why i always turn into a statue when i think of things that i wanna do.
6. God.
it’s been a long time. i have lost contact with You but You are always there to patch things up for me. every effin’ time. i cry everytime.
it must be because i was raised in a christian setting. that’s why i always think it’s You who’s working behind the scenes. but still i am grateful.
saved me from certain people.
saved me this semester.
saved me from pulling worthless all-nighters.
provided me financially esp when i thought i had nothing.
prevented a severe acid reflux situation.
gave me new friends.
did literally so many things that saved me from bad situations and people in general like WHO DOES THAT??
7. a life without a plan.
this is literally what i wanted to happen. not carelessly but like where i don’t have to worry about what to do next. just let things be and go with the flow. the first half of this year, i really did not think things through as i normally would and i let plans fall just to enjoy what was in front of me. be at ease and be present during that time. and i did. it was a peaceful, cheery time tbh.
8. every day i wanted to start over just to get over a lot of things.
9. i missed a lot of ppl.
10. i wanted to be held. not by a certain someone. not romantically. but by anyone close to me. *plays i’m with you by avril lavigne*
sometimes we all just need a long hug. that’s all. and it’d be nice to hear more stories from people. :)
11. not everybody will reciprocate the same energy that i send out to them and it’s okay.
this bummed me out. felt like an effin’ loser but i’ve learned that people have businesses to do. life doesn’t always happen the way we want it to.
12. this the final year of college. just finish it already, dumbass.
13. why can’t i just be kathryn bernardo or AURORA for like a month or a year? i promise i will not ruin their careers lmao.
14. i want to make major changes in my stupid life but money is an issue.
15. the stars are below the sky now.
the state of the environment is the same as of our minds. polluted and overloaded with gibberish to the point that we get scared of doing one thing at a time and where we also don’t throw away the unnecessary baggage/s.
we’re so intent on doing things all at the same time. finishing everything in one sitting. being productive became an addiction and it scared me how i was becoming affected by this. there’s this constant thought that we collectively share which is to do something by every day and it only adds up to people’s anxiety and depression. social media definitely made us aware of mental illnesses/disorders but then it became a trend. people self-diagnose themselves and end up with the wrong treatment. some people use it as a tool to get followers and... ugh it’s all a mess. i hope people get the right treatment/s AND/or professional help because if they don’t, they’ll lose themselves. i mean... just look at the sky. there’s literally no sign of a star now if u live in the city. we’ve lost sight of what should guide us. we are unconsciously following a false light thru our devices.
i’m not good at analogies or at explaining things as u can tell. but moving on...
this hyper self-awareness that i have gained from social media has its advantages but is also distracting me from living my best life. i didn’t realize that i was making my own christmas lights inside my seemingly dark mind when really... it’s just clouded by all this information that’s coming in fast and has affected who i am and certain areas of my life. i’ve almost forgotten this and i’ve come to believe again that there’s always an ever-present light and it will take time to get used to its brightness once my mind gets clearer by the day. hopefully, it will.
anyway, CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL AND WE NEED TO SAVE EARTH.
16. men are trash.
17. the people who i should avoid always looks odd or unpleasant and has bad energy. i know shit when i sense one.
18. i’m not happy with my life and with who i am but i’ll work with what i’ve got.
life gives u a mirror and shits on your face. sheesh.
for some reason, i can’t forget what my adviser told me during my 4th year of high school. she told me “it seems like you’re a person full of regrets” and every time i have a cryfest, i think of that. idk why. (never underestimate the power of a few words, folks). you know how like in flow charts, u encounter decision points? the diamond shapes? i think i always decide no and end up with the worst consequence and then there’s no more starting over.
i don’t think i understand flow charts well. ugh.
i can’t come up with a cool transition to me having insecurities so let’s say i did!
some people’s beauty, inspiring. but others just make you feel like shit.
i really want to explore my feminine side more because i was more masculine when i was younger. i’m not gentle, i’m a bit aggressive. and it just doesn’t fit with who i want to be. idk why. and also, it’s fun (!!!). you get a taste of what it’s like and it’s so EMPOWERING at least for the short experience that i had. but can make me feel very conscious of my entire being and i just end up wearing cartoony disguises. ironic but BABY STEPS. when i think about it, there’s really no black or white answer whether this or that is feminine or masculine.
self-love is not a 5-step process.
it is continuous improvement of oneself to the point where you don’t give a fuck about what they say. i really envy the ones who are comfortable in their own skin, who are totally embracing their flaws. they just bloom. some people just look like them. like it’s SO THEM. unmistakably them. and i think if everyone had that, we would not have standards anymore.
oh, to live in a time where individuality is encouraged but is also discouraged when not lived up to its standards. hurray.
19. this year was the year of mindless decisions. periodt.
20. hoping that the new year, 2020, will be the year of CLARITY where i know who i really am, embracing it, and where i will not be taking anymore of anyone’s bullshit. where i know where i stand in my relationships with other people and vice versa. there will be intentional but meaningful endings that will pave the way for blossoming beginnings.
let’s hope it unfolds the way it should be. for the better.
bonus: nobody knows what the fuck they’re doing. everyone’s just going with the flow. be yourself.
note: this is a compilation of thoughts, informally. thank u.

what annoys me is that i love yurio’s aesthetic????? like a lot????? but i dislike him, i dlslike his attitude, i don’t feel like he deserved the ending he got in season one, and i feel weird liking his aesthetic also just cause he’s a young idiot, and also i really really don’t like his attitude, like no no no, i know it seems ~cute~ or ~relatable~ to have an angsty bratty teen in a show like that, esp one that doesn’t have a lot of emotional fluency (because #relatable) but i just. i don’t know, it feels like he just gets rewarded for being dysfunctional???
like the show seems to have an underlying thing where these characters actually have complex issues and are blatantly imperfect. say what you will about the series, you can shit on it a hundred different ways if you’d like, but there’s not much real doubt imo that there is, in the very least, a serious desire to have characters that aren’t extremely perfect (or even, necessarily, ~perfectly imperfect~)
you see yuuri suffering with his anxiety. you see that victor has definitely been depressed. both of these you can go deeper into, or you can just stay at the surface but, regardless, it’s pretty difficult to avoid the fact that they both suffer from issues and they’re impacted by their skating in more ways than one. do i think yuuri should’ve gotten gold? idk. i don’t really feel comfortable completely supporting that ending, and i think it might have been disappointing, the more i’ve thought about it
but i just. i don’t see why yurio should’ve won, and i feel like it goes against the general grain of the whole show (which lowkey illustrates the imperfections the characters face and how they’ve negatively impacted their lives, i mean, fuck, i don’t really have to provide examples of that for yuuri. victor’s admitted that he’s put skating above life and love for most of his life and hints (strongly) at being depressed/basically admits it). either, yurio has his own issues and they’re gonna be depicted more in the next season (which might have something to do with getting gold and how that affects him), or he’s just some sniveling, spoiled brat that did well and just kind of grows up and hangs out with/yells at yuuri and victor for the rest of his skating life
which is fine i guess. i mean, the depictions of people experiencing issues with their mental health is an illustration of being true to aspects of reality that aren’t typically delved into without serious over-glorification for ~angst~ or ~romance~, and it could also be said that having yurio just be a brat is a different depiction of another aspect of reality, but idk.
i think at the end of the day i just dont like yurio as much because i don’t feel like there’s a solid direction with who he is and i don’t know what to feel about him (and not in a good way). he’s such a key player, and he’s been given this important win, but it doesnt seem like his character exists for anything other than fanservice and a convenient way to make yuuri not get gold and keep the anime interesting
and, y’know, you’ve got this honestly awful fifteen year old brat worshipped by some people in the fandom and in canon he feels like someone we’re just supposed to root for and find aesthetically pleasing and not really call into question why he is the way he is and how much of a brat he is
idk idk idk idk idk this is just a personal opinion yurio bothers me a lot

i didn’t know where to post this -- here or on my other blog where i’ve moved my fandom ramblings but i’ve decided to put it here since it kind of touches on more personal topics/feelings. jk i wrote it all out and i didn’t really touch too much on personal stuff so into the fandom blog it goes. also putting it under a read more bc it ended up being pretty damn long wow
recently had a sort of issue/not-issue on twitter where i kind of openly expressed my dislike for this one character. no essay backing up why i dislike them, but i do have my (valid) reasons and i tend to be kind of semi-serious w my hate so i didn’t think too much abt swinging my opinions around. and also since this twitter is a recent development, i’m more used to tumblr where even if you openly express an opinion, you have a ton of character space to utilize to explain your opinion so you tend to explain yourself anyway unlike twitter’s limited character tweets where you basically just express your opinion and that’s it. anyway i might have gotten a little carried away since i don’t really interact w anyone in fandoms anymore and only w my fam member who we enable each others’ opinions and put my opinion on my bio and i think that along w my tweet trail led to potentially being vagued abt by a twitter account that mostly posts abt that fandom. i still have reason to suspect that /i/ wasn’t the sole target of the vagueing (if even) bc they said some stuff abt this character’s negative opinion that apparently someone expressed that /i/ never overtly said (like he’s evil and bad simply bc of how he treats this one person but i never said that, just implied that he’s a general asshole and maybe his relationship w this one person isn’t as good as i’ve seen previously from the fandom which is what i’ve deduced from reading canon content). since they never mentioned names or twitter handles explicitly, i purposely made some tweets (still being open, no censoring on purpose) to try to get a direct response and also low-key targeting the vaguers (out of my paranoia that they were indeed talking abt me which honestly prob not but also it’s a relatively small eng-speaking fandom involved w this character so they have to have stumbled upon me at one point). i did get a response (not from the vaguer(s)) from someone calling me out for not censoring my open dislike of this one character. but i also suspect they knew abt my dislike of this one character stemming from their interactions w another character bc they started talking abt shipping even though i never mentioned a ship in those tweets (but i did mention the latter character though not in conjunction w the former). anyway i felt the familiar heat of embarrassment upon seeing that notif of their callout but i almost immediately felt better abt the entire situation bc i finally got the direct callout i was waiting for and i knew what i needed to take down. direct and clear action
in hindsight after i made a series of vagueing tweets last night lol i feel like this entire situation is just me creating unnecessary drama and wildly hitting even ppl not even involved at all (as noted by the callout which was supposedly having non-involved randos in mind) just to make myself feel better or something which isn’t really respectful in any way (and i was totally open abt me just swinging wildly after the callout and my ensuing taking down of posts. this isn’t even a private twitter where ig it’s apparently socially acceptable to talk abt shit like that). and also makes me think maybe i never really learned anything from being online for almost my entire life. a weird part of me has always wanted to become fandom-famous online but i’ve never succeeded in doing so nor have i made an online group of friends i can bounce my opinions and headcanons off of. so i’ve never really developed an online community, i’ve always just been on the fringes and yelling into the mass without getting much attention. now ik that apparently twitter does indeed chuck your opinions well into that mass (good and bad i suppose), it’s a bit surprising to actually get “attention” ... i also mentioned this in my tweets last night but i really really dislike getting vagued abt which my psychoanalyzing brain was like “that’s bc you don’t like not knowing what others think abt you irl” and yeah if you got an issue w me i’d prefer you to tell it directly to my face rather than pretend you like me (which is totally hypocritical bc i do the latter to others but also i tend to just swerve ppl i dislike so it’s not like i go out of my way to pretend to be nice to them).
idk where i was trying to go w this bc now that i’m writing it out i’m like wow yeah i’m still in the wrong huh. sometimes i am in the wrong like years ago when i got called out for grossly shipping irl ppl (which yes i will admit i did do once upon a time but now i no longer do it or am ok w it) but i don’t feel like i was in the wrong this time so i just feel a little frustrated abt the vagueing bc if i was part of the group they were vagueing abt then i was definitely painted as someone w no critical thinking skills which i do, i just don’t share their opinion which they think is right (and tbh i wonder if THEY have critical thinking skills bc they said some things in defense of their opinion which i don’t agree with esp if you’re interpreting canon content like that. are we even reading the same content). i do genuinely feel better abt the series now bc before i was literally anxiety whenever i thought of or even saw the related characters. my fam member was trying to talk abt the series to me and they weren’t even talking abt the related characters but i just wasn’t feeling it bc of this whole situation which i literally made abt me even though there was no indication whatsoever it was abt me. this all make me think that i really should take a good fucking long break from fandoms and social media bc it just gives me unneeded stress and anxiety abt cancel culture, trying to be likeable enough to become fandom-famous, seeing hot takes, etc etc. i’ve already been winding down in terms of strongly interacting w fandoms but my mental health has not been doing so hot recently bc of irl things and fandoms are not ameliorating it at all. ik for some fandoms do indeed make ppl feel better but that’s when ppl actually interact w them and they’re not stuck in a bubble of no response whatsoever while ppl may potentially gab abt them outside of that bubble. my issue is that i always feel the need to create when i really get into a fandom and when you create you want ppl to respond to your creations! so you need to interact w the fandom. but then i then want to actually interact w the fandom fr instead of just posting from time to time and staying out of it and you know where that gets me sometimes. i think it’s bc i had a good time in the pjo and warriors fandoms and i want something like that again in new fandoms i’m in but for whatever reason that’s not how it is now.
i didn’t jump into the vagueing tweet mess bc as i said i wasn’t directly called out and also better to just ignore it but i couldn’t get it out of my head. and that’s making me really consider leaving fandom social media and just create fanworks solely for myself without even posting them online. my works don’t really get much response anyway which is fine tbh even having 1 like these days is good enough so it’s not like i’d be losing out. but idk man ... sometimes you just want to share stuff w others. maybe i should just make my own website and put stuff on there w no expectation for likes or whatever. this has also made me re-evaluate whether or not i really do want to go into art professionally. ik this one situation is inevitable w putting your opinion out on the internet and i wasn’t even in the wrong i feel bc it’s not like i have a problematic opinion (racism, sexism, incest, etc) but it has put a damper on creating content to put online even if the content i eventually want to create is original and is in no way associated w fandoms. even as i write that out i realize it’s kind of stupid to have such a damper put on me. i should watch spiderverse again bc that was the film that really inspired me to create my own creative visual content again and also i’ve been feeling really uninspired lately. ik i shouldn’t let this kind of stuff get me down if i really want to create art in the future but it’s hard to deal w sometimes. honestly i really should be seeing a therapist but also wow now it’s delving into more personal territory so i’ll end it here.
tl;dr i need to learn how to chill on the internet and i think i need to create boundaries for fandoms fr and stick w those boundaries for the benefit of my mental health. maybe i shouldn’t have gotten a twitter in the first place lol even if all i made it for originally was just so i could message a proxy on twitter and not to actually get involved in fandom twitter. i didn’t even get the proxied good in the end anyway bc i was forced to cancel the payment by a third party bc the proxy had not sent me the good in months despite them updating relatively regularly on how busy they were as a student. hah that just how it be
also side note i was like to myself “ok you need to chill bc these series’ characters aren’t real. there’s no need to get so worked up over them” but then i realized even that opinion is “problematic” bc there are ppl out there who really use the characters as like idk a therapy object and i’m genuinely not trying to be an asshole i just forgot the specific wording you use. so even if i’m like ‘they’re fake’ there are others who are like ‘no they make me feel better so don’t hate !!’ which idk is a mentality which i think ppl should shift away from bc you can’t be in fandoms forever unless you’re a professional fictional content creator which is also an opinion i think a good number of ppl would disagree w (“they’re not bothering anyone and it’s their life so what are you to say what they should do??”). idk this is my hot take for the day i guess but it’s fine to be a fan of stuff as you grow up but i think it should become less of a focus/active part in your life as you grow older. i mean maybe that’s a cynical way of seeing things bc maybe creating fanwork is a good de-stressor for ppl but i think i feel that way bc i’m not going into creative content professionally career-wise but ... idk what i’m trying to say here. i guess i just have complicated thoughts on fandoms in general.
