Update on my new object show!! BLISS!!

BLISS: Beware *whats* Lurking Inside *this* Sweet Sanctum (Object show name :3c)

Tw: mentions of mental abuse, full caps, curse words, eyestrain

So basically, the story is about a host (Semi colon) who has tried to get contestants to join her show, but NOBODY cared! So she slowly lost her sanity (haha reminds me of someone.. uhm.. not me..) and thought, “Hey?! What if I just.. MANIPULATE THEM into joining my show by saying ‘Oh look! Cool thingy that cares for objects health blah blah, then BAM! OBJECT SHOW!!” Because in Semi colon’s world, nobody talks about their health, so if there was some sort of free therapy for the inhabitants, they won’t say no! (I know, it’s stupid-)

This is generally a sort of dark humor show (if it wasn’t obvious), about (idk yet) number of “patients” will fall for the trick, thinking they were going for some sort of offline group therapy sessions, to be met with a lame object show that slowly makes them turn on EACHOTHER!! (Yayy another unoriginal show!!! *sobbing*)

And of course, Semi colon.. is going to make sure, they play in her show this time! Not make everyone forfeit before the show starts!!

Of course, “we” (as in me for now) will make a separate blog that me, and said team that want to help with this, we will post our beautiful comic type object show, on tumblr!! With extra details like polls and asks!!

context: I’m making a comic series about my Oc’s will be building world and stuff, but need to figure out how to start. So….

I was thinking about making an ask comic series where u can ask questions and get answers(non-canon ofc, idk how asks would work in the lore) because I wanna build my world first before making like…..an animated series or a actual comic. Maybe I can save up money while I do it and work with Glitch studios, do they do stuff like that? Idk. If so I might have to wait like….2 years(cries in teenager)

Tis the season I suppose, idk why but I’ve been so productive lately with writing. I can’t believe I’ve been finishing fics! I’m all set with the winter solstice event, just finished the first draft of the otp prompts, shared the next chapter of the sibling verse with vordark my beloved, and added another scene to devour even though I said it might be done. That’s honestly the only one I’m iffy about right now, I do think this is a good spot to end it but I almost feel like something’s missing? But that’s kinda the whole point. Cause this isn’t supposed to be a normal lots of love happily ever after. It’s a plethora of emotions, like yes they stay together but at what cost? And was there ever really a choice? But how could there even be another option when they’ve proven time and time again their love is true? Idk I’ll sit on it for a little bit.

Really my only ongoing WIPs at this point are midnights and the sibling verse. The former I should write more of since I’ve only written the first three chapters. The latter I’ve low key been updating weekly, but it’s been so easy to do. I just need time to sit and write it since all the planning for the major things are done.

This burst of energy is making me ambitious and wondering if I can maybe tackle some works that’s I’ve been dreaming of but never thought I could pull off… decisions decisions

I have a poll in my drafts that I plan to also post as a new work on ao3 for 24 hours. I just have so many ideas and I want to get to them but it’s just so impossible. Plus I kinda really want to work on being better at prompts, I’m so self indulgent that it makes me terrible at writing prompts. It’s why I don’t openly accept them, though I always gain inspiration from chats with fellow shippers.

I talk a lot about community and fandom, because that truly is why I love it so much. I love the interactions we have and how we build each other up, but a lot of the times it feels like I’m just screaming by myself over these two idiots who are so in love it kills me. *sigh it really doesn’t help that I have very strong opinions and reactions towards certain ships. Plus I’m in the minority of being a strict fluff lover, this ship is way too tragic for me I can’t bear it. I don’t want angst, I’m not interested in it nor do I want to be. Life is too depressing already, so please don’t add to it in fiction.

I’m just a fangirl who wants to read about her ship falling in love and making it work over and over again, is that too much to ask?

BnHA 6th Popularity Poll Reaction Post - Risky Spoiler-Dodging Edition

hey guys, so seeing as the results from the 6th popularity poll were leaked today, I figured I would do a separate reaction + analysis post this year, rather than piling it in as an extra on top of the chapter reaction post tomorrow. I figure this makes more sense anyway, since they’re really two completely different things. also this way I can write as much as I want lol.

also, just fyi, I am still completely unspoiled for chapter 293. and probably the smart thing to do to keep it that way would be to log off tumblr and hold off posting this until tomorrow, but I apparently have no impulse control today so oh well. anyway, so I’m hoping you guys will keep this spoiler-free if you don’t mind! as always, I would prefer to just jump right in completely unaware tomorrow like Troy returning to the study room with the pizza boxes lol.

okay so this first part is just going to be my predictions. fyi I am writing this part on Wednesday night, and then I’ll add on the results part on Thursday or Friday (ETA: Thursday, apparently, since I am impatient.)

okay so first of all, just as a refresher, this poll was open to Japanese voters from Aug 3 to Sep 30. meaning chapters 279 through 285. meanwhile last year’s poll took place around the tail end of the MVA arc. so between then and now we had Heroes Rising, the Endeavor Agency arc, and the War arc up to the part where the 1-A kids took on Gigantomachia in Gunga, and started battling Tomura in Jakku. so technically only a couple of arcs, but a LOT of stuff going down in them. oh and season 4 of the anime as well

so! firstly, I predict that my truculent africanized honeybee son will hold on to his crown at #1, coming off a year in which he did some internship-boosted soul searching, borrowed OFA in movie canon, and finished out the voting period as the my-body-moved-on-its-own character development MVP. like CALL ME CRAZY lol, but I’m pretty sure his title is safe. and then after him will be Deku and Shouto as usual

Aizawa should hopefully also have a strong showing because the dude had a banner fucking year. reunited with his old dead friend, took on Tomura with his hopelessly inept hero pals, and then chopped his fucking leg off. he had better be in the top 10. his fucking leg died for this, idk what else he has to do

Endeavor also stands a decent chance of doing well given the internship arc and the final episode of season 4. which I’m sure will go down just swimmingly if that does happen lmao. especially if he somehow manages to rank higher than...

Dabi, which I don’t think he will btw, but you never know. anyways though, but I’m thinking Dabi’s going to have a stronger showing than in past years (in the last poll he only got 367 votes and was ranked 19th). mostly because of his fight in the Gunga mansion, and his cheekily censored name reveal to...

Hawks, who is also going to rank pretty high here, I think. might be he loses some points for killing off Twice, but his back was basically to the wall there. and he has always been very popular, and I think season 4 will also give him a boost, along with his heavy involvement in the first half of the War arc

Tomura was already in 6th place last year and I think he cracks the top 5 this year. he’s gotten exponentially more popular since the MVA arc, and got a boost in the last poll even though his flashback had only just barely happened, and he hadn’t finished Awakening yet and all that stuff. anyway, so he’s only gotten cooler and more tragic since then so I think he makes a big play here

Kirishima, Momo, Tokoyami, and Mina should also hopefully do well, since the poll opened right in the middle of all that Gigantomachia action, and Toko had just got done being an absolute badass and protecting his birb dad. I don’t think he’ll quite make it to the top ten, but he should

and last but not least, I’m hoping that Mirko will come out and take the polls by storm, although I have no clue how popular she is in Japan lol. she’s clearly Horikoshi’s favorite though. she SHOULD be everyone’s favorite, but I mean, we’ll see how it goes

anyway that’s it as far as predictions! and so now, through the magic of writing stuff at different times, we will fast-forward to the part where we actually find out the results!

Kacchan looks SO COCKY and SO HAPPY and SO ADORABLE, YES I SAID IT. he is adorable as FUCK. anyway, so it looks like most of the people present here are more or less who we expected to see. except that I can’t tell for sure if that’s Dabi or Shindou, and if it’s Shindou I’m going to punch somebody in the face so you will have to excuse me

Iida wearing a TRENCHCOAT and a TOP HAT with ENGINE EXHAUST GOGGLE ACCENTS is my new favorite Iida of all time. take note how there is no possible way he can wear those goggles with them sitting on top of his hat like that. plus he’s already got glasses on. these are just purely for aesthetic and IF THAT AIN’T JUST THE STEAMPUNK WAY

Shouto’s standing over there with the rest of the non-first-and-second-place characters, but what are the odds his results are actually within spitting distance of Deku’s same as always. anyway he doesn’t mind, though. also his outfit is by far the most sensible one here, but if you look closely he’s got some sort of fire extinguisher/jet pack thing strapped to his back that’s got a control switch on his belt. Shouto are you jetpacking or putting out fires

anyway, so there were actually 13k fewer votes cast this year which is a bit of a surprise. is the series not still growing in popularity? do people apparently have better things to do during their quarantine lol

anyways but despite this, and despite getting 8k fewer votes overall, Kacchan still managed almost twice as many as his closest competitor. well fought, Deku. please put down that pipe

ngl though, the lack of a single female character in the top ten hurts just a bit. it’s not overly surprising, but still. the worst part of it is that even if you kicked Shindou to the curb and moved everyone else up one slot, it would still be all dudes since Mic beat out Momo by a margin of a little more than a hundred votes. hard to stay mad at Mic for too long, though. ah well

Tomura actually lost a bunch of votes which is a genuine surprise to me. I know the villain standom isn’t as dominant in Japan as it is in Western fandom, but still. you can go ahead and punch Shindou too I guess

Tokoyami lowkey doubled his vote count over the past year while hiding down there at #18. he is slowly becoming more powerful. biding his time

anyway so I think that’s it! I mean not really, but I’m getting kind of tired lol. so just, you know, insert the usual gripes at Overhaul’s ranking here, although we can be happy about Magne making her way onto the list (r.i.p.), and Mineta and AFO taking a very satisfying slide down (all the way out, in AFO’s case; good riddance you bum). Hadou also got a huge boost which is awesome. Mustard’s persistent ownership of the #36 spot will forever remain a mystery to me, but oh well

I was excited to see you write Rio because he is such a powerful character but unfortunately, Manny is trash.

hi angel ! first off, thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. i did a little digging & found this, & this --- absolutely terrible. & to think it's an actor on a show that, in my opinion, handled isaiah stannard's transition so well that they wrote it into his story arc ( rather than recasting the original role ) . . . ugh. i had no idea. please come off anon so i can thank you personally ! this is what i get for not having a look at instas etc, huh. seems like the rio role is pretty cursed : this is just the cherry on top of the compounded issues that basically boil down to writers & actors don't want rio on the show any more. anyway, what does that mean for me moving forward ? well i'm so glad you are / were excited to see me write rio, but now i'm in a bit of a situation ! part of rio's allure, as it were, is the depth manny himself brings to his portrayal. originally written as an absolute stereotype, i think his portrayal surprised everyone ! obviously, therefore, that's hard to, like, separate. so ! i have a few different option, & i would love people to weigh in with their opinions. i'm going hiking today so i won't be able to get to them for a bit, but please blow up my inbox, replies etc with your thoughts. happy to make an anonymous poll if preferred !

• recast with a new face claim. on one hand, this is a blessing as it gives me more options now regarding young rio fcs. rio's ethnicity & age is never stated in the show, as he's the ' mysterious latino gangbanger ' ( ugh ) so there are multiple latinx faceclaims for me to choose from, & i can rewrite his ' background ' ( that he's never been given ) to accurately reflect that. if anyone has suggestions, please let me know ! i'm looking for someone who fits ' the vibe ' --- which i feel is one hard to grasp, unfortunately. basically - recast & make him completely my own, i suppose.

BoAB September Survey 2020 Results

DEMOGRAPHICS

I don’t really have anything super meaningful to say about the demographic information, it kind of aligns with what I expected. The biggest chunk of you are female between age 19-24, which means you are definitely drinking age in Canada and certainly in Alberta! Caesars for everyone! ...I mean, I don’t drink and a Caesar probably wouldn’t be my first choice, but the option’s on the table here.

High five to all my Hockey Gender peeps out there (which was kind of my lame attempt at ‘gender is whack and idk what it is’ while still being on theme). ALBERTA and YOU

So this question was a little bit over complicated and I will definitely rethink it for next year, probably splitting it into separate questions because sometimes one answer wasn’t enough (i.e. “Just Curious” doesn’t tell me whether you live in Canada or not- not that I would make you say, but it’s hard for me to tell whether you meant to check another answer and forgot or if that’s all you felt like saying). Overall, graphing this information as it is doesn’t feel like it helps me as much as I had expected?

This graph is far more enlightening and to the point: the vast majority of you have never lived in Alberta (or at least, said so! I forgot to put an option similar to “rather not say” above, for which I apologize!) Those of you who do live in Alberta live in one of the three biggest cities, and more of you in Edmonton, hehe. It is kind of funny, I sort of expected most people would be from Calgary!

Like I’ve said, it’s sort of incredible what a huge proportion of you are not from Alberta. Whether you’ve visited or not or have any consciousness of it outside of this blog at all, welcome, I hope you enjoy your stay! (...I say, currently sitting one province and a strait away from Alberta at this point in time).

CHARACTERS

Okay, the good stuff!

There was some hometown loyalty here but it was clearly not exclusive, very disappointed in my fellow Edmontonians (I’m kidding. Mostly. Unless??)

And yes, the very last vote tipped the scales in Calvin’s favour this time, although it was quite evenly matched throughout the polling. Overall, there’s not much of a surprise here, it more or less matches the airtime each of these characters have had so far and I expect it to change a little as I learn more and draw more.

I was kinder with the next question and allowed you to pick as many as you liked, but some people still elected to choose one or go straight for their favourite.

Okay, I see what’s going on here! Pandemic’s got you guys down and you are desperate for a mountain vacation with Eleanor and Calvin. I admit, I have been seriously neglecting Eleanor for the most internationally recognizable of the Alberta municipalities (and dare I say... the most celebrated?). The people have spoken, and I hear you!

As for Calvin, huh, I can’t imagine why you want to see him so much. You want to see him suffer more at my hands? Is that it? Hmmm.

Also, I am not sure how I expected to interpret the “someone who hasn’t been introduced” mystery-character option. Do you guys want literally anyone introduced, or do you have a specific craving? Feel free to message me, anon or otherwise, if you want to speak more to that.

I am oh so very pleased to tell you that this whole month of October is going to be dedicated to Character Profiles, and I will be wrapping up Madeline’s first profile page today. We are going to get (if I am able) a quick fact reference sheet, a relationship chart, and a sort of miscellaneous trivia/attractions page for each character so that I can keep all that stuff organized and consistent and you guys can enjoy future comics without wondering who is who or what they represent.

I was purposefully pretty vague about characters when I was starting this blog, partly because I wanted to see what I could get away with whether I had audience recognition or not, partly because I operate on kind of a “shoot first ask later” approach to things. I know that if I don’t just jump in and start writing that I’ll never post anything, so I’m happy to do this a little later in the blog’s life now that I have time to dedicate to fleshing these guys out.

I’m also happy to address more historical stuff, and a brief synopsis of each muni’s history will be featured in their bios to help frame any asks you might want to send about that. If you have any questions or a specific time period you are interested in, don’t hesitate to send an ask about it.

okay so remember that bmc fanfic competition i made a post about a few days ago? well the idea had me hooked so now here’s everything about it that i have so far

disclaimer: a lot of inspiration was taken from the way the quidditch league on ffn is run

also NO SQU*P#///MY SHIPPERS ALLOWED. as well as those who ship other gross ships such as the adults with children. just wanted to make that clear

there’ll be multiple teams (exact number depends on how many writers sign up) with four members each, with enough rounds (each 2 weeks long) for each team to go up against each other at least once (but min 6 rounds, max 12). each team member has different abilities

blue: their points turned into a percent (ex. 6 pts → 60%) are taken away from the enemy green’s score (ex. B gets 6 points, G originally got a 10 but only 4 points are added to the team’s total)

red: their points turned into a percent are how much blue’s score is increased (ex. B got 10 points, R got 5 points [so 50% boost], so B adds 15 points to the team’s total)

pink: for 1/4 of the rounds, they can choose a different main prompt from the one designated for the pink position. in addition, instead of the typical 3 maximum optional prompts, pinks can choose up to 5 that can overlap with teammates’ choices

green: for 1/3 of the rounds, they can spread another team member’s boost to all team members (ex. green spreads pink’s power, all team members can choose whichever main prompt they’d like and can choose up to 5 optional prompts. for blue and red, percent decreases/increases apply to opposing colors instead of piling onto one enemy player [ie blues affect blues, greens affect greens, etc])

rounds will have four main prompts, one for each position (ie all the reds get one prompt, then all the blues, etc). in addition, you can choose up to 3 of 15 optional prompts that are worth up to 3 points each, separate from the main score (so they don’t impact position abilities), though you can’t choose the same prompts as another teammate (unless you’re a pink—see above). rounds will be posted on tumblr (there’ll be a blog for the competition you can follow for the rounds)

fics (1k words min, 3k max) will be scored based on SPaG (2 pts), main prompt usage (3 pts), characterization (2 pts), and plot/flow (3 pts). optional prompts will be scored out of 3 based on how meaningfully you incorporate the prompt (so the prompt should be more than just a throwaway word just to get the prompt in there). optionally, judges will provide more detailed feedback for each of these categories to tell you what they liked and how they think you could improve. feedback will be available either through google docs or a post submission to your blog

whichever team gets the most points by the end wins! if there’s a tie, a tiebreaker round will be put together with the normal rules applying

if needed (and there any/enough people who don’t think they could write a 1k-3k word fic every two weeks and/or just would rather sign up as a reserve), reserves will be available, each reserve being used for 1 round and not having the buffs of the main writer. if one of your teammates quits, you can get a permanent reserve who will replace the old player and have all abilities, without need to keep signing them up every round. extensions and reserves can be requested by sending the competition’s tumblr an ask, and they’ll be tracked on a tumblr post

you’ll also get extensions for 1/3 of the rounds, which extend the deadline for entry by 2 days. without an extension, each day of late entry detracts 1 point, capping at 2 (not detracted from your fic’s score but from the team’s total for the round)

fics will be submitted by reblogging the round’s tumblr post in this format:

in the notes of an entry, to make it easier for the judges, list your team, position, and any prompts you used

lastly, and most importantly, teams will be named after Mountain Dew flavors

and that’s everything i have so far! it would need a lot of people though -- even just two teams would need eight team members, maybe two reserves, probably two judges to split four fics between them (so probably a judge per team?), and if it gets bigger i’ll need one or two people to help me run the tumblr and the competition (ie come up with rounds, keep track of reserves/extensions, etc). but i really think it would be a fun way to make new content for the fandom

State of Bandit Fic

it’s been a couple of months since i posted one of these and i’d like to have one done by the end of the year SO here we go. under a read more for length.  my apologies, mobile users.

plans for the rest of the year:

roisa secret santa goes up next monday.  i still don’t know what i’ll post on the monday after that.  i have another chapter ish of falling written, but idk if that’s a direction i really want to go with that novel.  maybe, maybe not.  idk.

word count maintained 2k during november with only a few hiccups.  this month the first couple of weeks i had multiple days where word count was less than 1k.  i’ve gotten it back up to 1k and think that the sudden jump from main focus on roisa hp au to main focus on rss was part of the issue there (when i go and make sure i get 1k in the hp au, i tend to hit 2k again, so there’s that).  i plan to try and maintain the 1k to the end of the year with the hope that i reach a total of 400k written this year (at the end of november, i was at approximately 381.5k - give or take a few - which means i only needed to write 18.5k this month.  i have at least 11.5k in various other non-roisa hp au projects from this month, not including any word count from second writes, and i know i’ve done at least another 1k (probably 2k or more) in the roisa hp au - so i should be hitting that if i keep up the 1k minimum).

that Christmas project i said i started last year and wanted to finish this year won’t be finished in time for Christmas most likely so my apologies.  :/  it just takes more mental thought for less word count and my focus right now is on rss.  sorry.

plans for next year:

i’m very tentative on these, but this is what i’ve been thinking about (and may or may not actually do):

focus on five days a week at 1-2k with saturdays and sundays off - still plan on keeping word count on one of those days but giving the other one for second write for the monday update because i’ve found that trying to do the second write and final edits and get 1k written is really hard for me to do, especially with longer updates.  so i’m not going to push myself for that.

this also potentially allows me an additional day to spend editing or drafting other projects - like the roisa hp au or mexican stud or stuff like that which i want to be finished and go through another edit and possible betaing before posting - and while that might not be immediately, i like that space being open and available.

focus on finishing the rough draft of the first book of the roisa hp au and hopefullly get it through a second draft and betaing and polishing so that maybe it starts getting posted in july or august.

i was thinking july but we’ll see.  i don’t want to lock myself into something like i did with ACAL this year, and while i like having it set up for the beginning of the school year, i’m not sure that’s enough time.  i haven’t done this kind of editing/drafting/betaing before on a project - with the exception of noir fic, which...hasn’t been posted and got stalled in the fourth draft.

i also think that this would be in place of the monday updates instead of a separate update as i originally planned.  because this first book is currently 16 chapters long, that would give me multiple months to focus on other projects while they’re updating - and that time off was something i really wanted in july and ended up getting mostly in october and november.  so we’ll see.

possibly hosting roisa fic week probably around july 4th and then possibly hosting rss next year, as well, but with a longer application time (probably all of october, but unsure).

possibly pick-up lines month for january into february in time for valentine’s day.  still not sure.

3. Do you have any favorite simblrs?

So many. I know I’ll miss almost all of them out and forever want to come back and edit this, so let’s say to start with that if I follow you you are one of my favourite simblrs. I always feel awkward about this sort of question because I’m definitely of the ‘here’s a participation award’ mindset rather than a ‘winner takes all’ person, and don’t like playing favourites.

I will mention a couple of people though, not because I think they’re better than anyone else, but just because I tend to perk up more when their names cross my dash (for some of them I don’t know why, maybe it’s just that their gameplay has something about it that floats my boat, idk). If I don’t mention you please don’t think it’s because I think you’re the absolute worst, because I don’t.

Like a lot of people, I have to mention @jenba, because her builds are of a consistent high quality and give me so much inspiration, and she’s a really nice person who’s always got time and patience to answer people. She doesn’t go anywhere near drama, which is always a huge tick in the ‘yay’ column for me (some of you are so messy).

@paper-lioness is a sweetheart, she made me a birthday gift once and that made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

@fake-sims posts always bring a smile to my face. I don’t play TS2, but if I did this is what I would aspire to. In fact, I wish I could be like fake-sims in TS4, but I simply don’t think anyone could be.

If anything could come close to how fake-sims makes me feel in TS4 it would have been @napoleonfrost, whose sims are absolute goals. I’m also really fond of @midpoosimmer-deactivated2019030‘s sims (deactivated, boo) because they walked that line between realism and being stylised really well. @alcearosea-sims‘ game always looks absolutely stunning and I could look at it all day. Who’s the person who does a bunch of retro stuff? Begins with an F? Gah. That person. In love.

There are a ton of cc makers whose stuff I admire and will follow until the ends of time, and you’ll know who they are if you ever have downloaded any of my lots and looked at the cc lists. I hope @brazenlotus continues to separate and liberate items from packs, because honestly it does the community a service. @peacemaker-ic gives us consistently excellent sets, and his build mode stuff in particular has been a lifesaver. @budgie2budgie has been giving us excellent maxis match stuff since the beginning of time, and I will never be without all that art. 

There are many more, many many more, and I know I’ll think “OH I FORGOT X, Y AND Z” as soon as I hit post.

Edit: I forgot an important person: @suspiciouslypinklady because we bonded over some personal stuff and I owe her a message atm, and she’s been very sweet to me

10. What expansion pack are you hoping for next?

I don’t think I have a specific preference for an entire pack, only particular elements I’d like to see at some point. I was really excited by the Off The Grid stuff when they were polling for Laundry Day, because I think it would enable such rich storytelling opportunities, so I’d love to see that explored, and it would be timely considering the state of the world – lead the way, Sims team! Show us how to save the world!

Other than that it’s more little things that I’d like to see that would make life more interesting, particularly as a some-time builder (*glares in spiral staircase*). And of course, I’d like to see a return to larger worlds with more neighbourhoods.

15. What is your favorite Sim World?

It used to be Oasis Springs. I really love The Spice District. I also love the harbour in Brindleton Bay. I’m very fond of StrangerVille (it scratches an itch Oasis Springs didn’t quite manage), but it’s simply too small to have a permanent number 1 spot. I haven’t spent enough time in Del Sol Valley but I love the overall aesthetic of it, but again there’s not enough to it. 

One reason I like The Spice District so much is the way it’s set out: it has that large public space in the centre, and it makes it feel like a more lived-in neighbourhood than the other more linear ones where people just walk from one end to the other. In The Spice District people stop and play basketball, they eat at the food stands, they listen to performers, they take part in protests… it just feels so much more real and vibrant. The rest of the game is sorely lacking in that regard.

I'm still crossing my fingers for Kairi being the other playable character. No offense to any other big potential possibilities but we've 2 (3 if you count kh2) games playing Riku for a big portion of the game. Roxas had a whole game to himself as well as kh2 long prologue. Aqua technically starred in 2 games too. I'd love to have Kairi jist to finally have played all Destiny trio members and to see her fighting style. Plus since Light's going to expire maybe the keyblader who's a pure light --

(2/2) will be left standing in a reality overtaken by darkness? Idk, she’s already saved Sora’s butt once by basically defying all accepted logic. I have a feeling she could do it again (plus we’ve had so much Sora+Riku development and even really cute Kairi+Riku interactions, I want some heavy focus on the Sora+Kairi bond again considering they’re each other’s most important person).Answer, here be KH3 spoilers: 

I’d love for Kairi to be the other playable character for the reasons you mentioned, but lately I’ve been thinking there’s a good chance Roxas will be the other playable character instead.

For one, his move set is similar to Sora’s, so it’s probably easier to have him as a playable character.

For another, just like how we play as Roxas for a little while in KH2 and we even have to fight him near the end of the game, it would be an interesting twist to play as Roxas again, this time as the good guy fighting Sora near the end of the game (if Soranort happens).

Plus, if Sora falls to darkness saving Roxas, I can see Nomura going for the parallel of Roxas returning the favor and saving Sora.

And, let’s be honest, Roxas is a lot more popular with the fanbase than Kairi, and Nomura is probably aware of that. He tends to give more screentime to fan favorites like Lea, Aqua, and Riku (though Riku has waned in popularity somewhat in Japan at least) than to the (as of late) neglected Kairi and Naminé, who scored third and fourth place in the female character popularity poll behind Aqua and Xion. Of course, this is arguably even more of a reason to have Kairi be playable, but history is not on Kairi’s side here.

Would I like a playable Kairi? Yes, but honestly, I probably would enjoy playing as Roxas again. I’d rather have him be playable over Riku, since we’ve had plenty of chances to play as Riku already and DDD was more his game than Sora’s. Playable Riku wouldn’t ruin the game for me though; I do think if the other playable character was him, however, Nomura wouldn’t have been so secretive about it.

The one thing I do think that might hint at Kairi being a playable character is that she has been shown on the cover art with her Keyblade: 

This isn’t by any means conclusive, but it’s interesting to note that the only other characters who have their Keyblades on that cover art are Mickey, Sora, and Riku, who have all been playable at some point or other throughout the series.

My guess is that this is hinting that these four (Mickey, Riku, Sora, and Kairi) will be the main characters of this game, but it’s hard to say, and again, hoping for tons of screentime for characters who are not Sora is setting expectations that might not get met. 

But based on what we know, I think the narrative will follow three general arcs: Riku and Mickey’s search for Aqua and whatever comes next, Sora’s quest to gain the Power of Waking and find The Key to Return Hearts, and Kairi’s training along with Lea. It would make sense for at least one of these other main characters to be playable, and fingers crossed it’s Kairi.

Who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky and Sora, Kairi, and Riku will all be playable though! If Soranort does happen I’d love for Kairi (along with Riku) to be the ones to rescue him because of those potential parallels with KH1.

No matter what happens, however, give me more moments of Sora and Kairi bonding, please and thank you! As friends, as allies, as potential romantic interests, because we NEED to see more of their relationship! KH1 did a good job of this, but you’re exactly right - KH3 would do well to focus more on their bond again. They’ve been separated for so much of the series and that separation has NOT done their romantic development (or friendship, for that matter!) any favors. 

Think about it: we haven’t seen them on screen together since Blank Points. It’s been eight years (nine for the Japanese fans). Now, I think Nomura has something special planned for their reunion, because he carefully avoided having them meet in 0.2, but Square Enix in general lately has… not been good about having their main couples actually interact with each other (looking at you, Noctis and Luna and Snow and Serah, though the latter was much better about this than the former). And let’s face it, interaction is VITALLY important for a good romance! Don’t tell me they are deeply in love, SHOW me.

I am a HUGE SoKai fan, as anyone who has read my writing can tell you, but… even I know that if Nomura wants to further their romance in a believable way, they actually NEED to be on screen at the same time. Talking. Interacting. Cracking jokes. Making each other laugh. Comforting each other. Cheering each other up. Lingering gazes. Lingering hand holds. Reminiscing about shared memories. Grand romantic gestures. Small acts of love. Big acts of sacrifice.

And the thing is… every time they have been on screen together so far, their interactions have been fantastic! The chemistry is there, the emotion is there. Their reunions are always the highlights of the games. There just hasn’t been enough shared screentime, and the two of them desperately need more of it for their romance to develop believably.

I’d even argue that Sora’s feelings have been demonstrated well. There’s no doubt about how he feels about Kairi; he sacrificed his life for her in KH1, Xion looks like her because of how much she means to him; Naminé replaced his memories of her with memories of Naminé because Naminé knew she was the most important person to him, he can’t wake up in KH2 until he has his memories of her back, etc., etc. It’s not much of an exaggeration to say the plots of two entire KH games (COM and Days) have been centered around how much she means to him.

It’s more on Kairi’s end that I want to see more about what Sora means to her, and it’ll help if she has more screentime. Especially if she’s playable. That being said, I don’t want her to only think and talk about Sora; she needs to have just as much depth as he does. Let her interact with other people and have friends of her own, just like Sora has friends of his own. Her growing friendship with Lea is promising, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried that that’s going to center completely around Xion, given Xion’s popularity with the Japanese fans. I’m worried Lea won’t value Kairi for Kairi, instead the audience will just constantly be reminded of how much Kairi reminds him of Xion instead of treating Kairi like her own person.

I mean, c’mon, she’s the original! Without her Xion wouldn’t even look like she does! Naminé wouldn’t exist! Sora wouldn’t have needed to sacrifice himself to save her in the first place, so Roxas wouldn’t either, for that matter. For a series so big on how special and unique every heart is, no matter how it came into existence, it’s kind of shooting yourself in the foot if you treat one of the original main characters as lesser than the people she helped create! 

To be fair, though, that’s more just my concerns, and we don’t know how things will actually play out in the game, so I’ll reserve further judgment until then.

But I actually have hope that we will see Kairi and Sora interacting more in this game, mainly because of this:

“Destinies intertwine, and an oath becomes power” - combined with the quote about a new charm that seems to imply Kairi will be giving Sora some sort of leveled up version of her good luck charm, if not a completely new one, and my guess is that they will talk at least once before the final battle. Hopefully during the battle and after the battle as well. I have a hunch that even if Kairi is not playable, she might very well be a party member along with Riku for the final world.

And I am really excited about that. That screenshot above at least is proof that they’ll have time alone together to talk, which is in and of itself huge! The last time they were alone together was in KH1. Even in KH2 other people were present for their reunions. Alone time like this is a sign of something special, make no mistake about that :) (Edit to add: and no, I don’t think this is proof that Riku is dead. Riku exists outside of their relationship, and they exist outside of their relationship with Riku. He’s a good friend and knows when to give them their space, that’s all. Riku is also the deuteragonist of the series and it would make little sense to kill him off in a game that seems like it’s going to be all about saving and restoring people, but that could be an entire post of its own and I’ll leave things as they are for now). 

Anyway, this got really long-winded, but yes, I’m hoping Kairi is the other playable character too, because I want her to get the screentime and development she deserves.

i understand where you’re coming from with this, and i don’t think it’s an invalid point, but all of the photos were already online in the first place…? 

part of what this blog is kinda meant to be is a time capsule - all of what i post comes from myspace (legit off of my old friends list from the actual time emo/scene was a larger subculture, or very popular kids in the scene) or glittergraphics (which also is from the time and what ppl actually used to decorate their myspace profiles back in the day with; this actually includes photos of people in addition to graphics - i don’t say this to be callous but the reality is that folks have been reposting other ppl’s pics and that they’ve been in circulation for over a decade in this way) 

both of these websites are still online and all the content is still available on the respective sites, i’m just reposting and kinda…. archiving it, if that makes sense? while this blog is part of emoscene revival, as someone who was actually there at the time it’s also for nostalgia, and preservation of these genuine artifacts of these subcultures, if that makes sense? 

i realize this could be a schism sort of thing since i haven’t been sourcing actual profiles (save ones with friend id codes)? so in a way folks are still kind of anonymous, which i think is beneficial to what you’re saying, but also in a way i guess that also means folks that are proud of their old pics might not feel like they’re getting the credit they deserve?

BnHA Chapter 254: Who the Hell Is Bucky

Previously on BnHA: All Might welcomed 1-A back after the new year with a pun he’s probably been working on for the entire winter break, the poor man. Aizawa received a call :’) and drove down to Tartarus with Mic to meet up with Naomasa and Gran Torino. Nao and Gran were all “so you’ll NEVER GUESS, but we found out that Kurogiri’s quirk is apparently a FAKE QUIRK which was created from a bunch of other quirks -- AND GUESS WHICH ONE WAS THE ORIGINAL QUIRK?” and Aizawa was all (ಠ ∩ಠ), and Mic put a hand on his shoulder, and Nao was all “YEAH YOU DID GUESS, IT’S YOUR OLD DEAD PAL SHIRAKUMO, FROM CHAPTERS 59 THROUGH 65 OF VIGILANTES!” And okay, so (1) OH MY GOD, and (2) I originally thought this meant that Kurogiri is straight up a zombie!Shirakumo, but others pointed out that he might be some random other dude who just has Kumo’s quirk, among others. And like, okay. SO WHAT IS THE TRUTH.

Today on BnHA: Y’ALL HE REALLY IS A ZOMBIE!KUMO, AND NAOMASA AND GRAN BROUGHT AIZAWA AND MIC TO TALK TO HIM AND TRY TO RESTORE HIS MEMORIES SOMEHOW. Aizawa is all “this isn’t some fantasy world with happy endings, this is THE REAL WORLD WHERE MIRACLES DON’T HAPPEN!” but Gran is all “sometimes they do!” and Aizawa is like “!!” and so they sit down to chat with Kumo. Aizawa launches into a passionate speech about how great Kumo was and how he pulled him along and inspired him, and how he (Aizawa) is strict with his students now and -- get this -- FAKE-EXPELS THEM IN ORDER TO PUT THE FEAR OF GOD INTO THEM JUST ONCE LMAO, BUT IT’S BECAUSE HE CARES, and because he wants them to be great heroes and not hapless redshirts who get killed offscreen. And by the end of it he’s crying and imploring Shirakumo -- “if you’re still in there somewhere” -- to become heroes with him and Mic just like they always wanted. All of it is exactly as emotionally devastating as you would figure, btw.

you guys I have been playing hopscotch on my dash since yesterday trying to avoid spoilers about the popularity poll until I actually had time to write down my reactions! all I know is that of course Bakugou is #1 again, because this fandom always comes through lol. my other predictions are that the rest of the trio will receive lots of love again as well, and Hawks will once again be high on the list, and Aizawa too because of the Vigilantes flashbacks (at least HE BETTER), and probably the villains will get a big boost as well after their arc, Tomura in particular. and Endeavor might break the top 10 again too with the newest arc, although I can’t quite remember whether or not the poll was still going on by the time that started (ETA: actually I don’t think it was). but yeah. anyway so there’s a real possibility that most of the kids will actually be shut out of the top ranks because of these GROWN-UPS and VILLAINS stealing all their glory, smh. your time will come, kids
