i never lost interest in the all grown up fandom, but im 21 now, so does that offically make me being an all grown up stan weird??? has anyone else ever had this issue before? i certainly haven’t LMAO

i want to let go of the all grown fandom, and my love for dil, but it’s difficult bc i don’t actually want to. i miss interacting with other people who understand the Dil Hype, and i miss writing content for the show (mainly about dil, but writing for the show in general) being in the all grown up fandom made my love of writing return. and, even though i’ve not written anything within the fandom for a long long time (i write stuff for other fandoms, tho) i still miss it. i just miss the fandom. and dil. mostly dil.

once i’m able to let the all grown up phase stay in the past, dil pickles will always hold a special place in my heart. once upon a time, he was my ultimate comfort character. he helped me through some of the toughest battles of my life, and for that, i will never be able to forget him <3

Thus far Dorian had kept his counsel to himself; endured the usual parade of corpses bearing swords, spewy wyverns, protective wards with opinions of their own-- but not a flooded fort, not with a rift in the water. Let Blackwall handle those; he seemed to enjoy being bashed on the head by demons.

“You won’t melt,” said the Iron Bull, mercilessly.

“The fen was worse,” said Mikal, frowning.

“My dear Inquisitor,” said Dorian. “I am not setting foot in this miserable, demon-infested heap of rubble until the river has gone down. It is tricky enough to cast spells in water without cooking us all to death, and now you’d like me to do it in a ruin? If you wanted to be buried alive, all you had to do was ask.”

“Bride save us. Dispense with the speeches,” said Vivienne. “We cannot cross the river until the bridge is mended. Shall we sit on our hands while demons swarm the Dirth?”

“Dorian,” Mikal began, warmly, “you could do me the honor of laying down a charm or so at the barracks gate--”

“As if I waded through miles of horrid fens only to desert you now!”

“That river isn’t going down anytime soon,” said the Iron Bull, with his eye to the flooded bank. “Short of some big spell.”

“No,” said Dorian and Vivienne together. He grunted in assent.

“Can we lure them out?” Mikal wondered. “Can I seal the rift in secret? Dorian! Can I borrow your little ring?”

“That’s worse,” Dorian protested, but Vivienne had beaten him; stooped down, and taken the Inquisitor’s gloved hand in her own, said quietly,

“-- my dear, never alone-- not while we travel together.” -- and the Inquisitor’s eyes turned soft and sweet as music.

“All right, all right,” Dorian grumped, to no one in particular, “I suppose the ring isn’t half bad, as a gambit. Bull, we’re scheming.”

“Finally!”

Senshi is probably the most fandomized character in Dungeon Meshi, and while I don't exactly mind it, I do think he has more depth than that. I find all his little quirks and idiosyncrasies to be fascinating; he's very stubborn and set in his ways about things that seemingly don't matter, he thinks about things that other people don't, he has a deeply set value system that informs everything he does. He cares A Lot, like, this man cares So Much. That's the kind of person you have to be to drop everything to help a random group of adventurers save one woman. But because he feels so strongly about things, he can also be surprisingly immature at times (although he's also the character most likely to admit he was wrong about something). I think part of that is because he's lived in the dungeon on his own so long that he's not used to working with other people. He will extend empathy and friendship to almost anyone, but he does things his own way, and he doesn’t always feel the need to explain his way of thinking because again, he's usually on his own. He's both incredibly wise and kind of childish in ways that seem contradictory at first, but make more and more sense the more we learn about him. Major kudos to Ryoko Kui's writing and pacing to make that transition so seamless and have all those details from his backstory click into place perfectly. And on a wider thematic level, Senshi is kind of a perfect counterpart to characters like Thistle (or any other dungeon lord). Senshi understands the dungeon in ways that even its creator doesn't. Although everyone is scrambling to take control of the dungeon, Senshi is the one who actually takes care of it. He's the one who thinks about things like nutrition and proper sleep and the ecosystem, all those things that it's easy to ignore when you get swept up by the grandeur of it all. He's the most important character to have present in a story that explores life and death and hunger. His constant, invisible presence holds everything together.
