tbh i don't find the "katherine howard was a useless child with no autonomy played like a cheap kazoo by her uncle and the king" narrative any more useful than "katherine howard was a nasty little slut who was so mean to poor little henry viii and deserved everything she got"... mind you, katherine howard was a young woman manipulated by her family to benefit the howards' position in court, but it is possible to understand katherine howard as both a victim of a vindictive and cruel king and an uncaring family and at the same time a young adult with the capacity to make choices of her own. which she did! she was sixteen at the absolute youngest (and twenty-one at the absolute oldest, but realistically probably somewhere in the middle), which, while not necessarily making her an adult, certainly made her more than a helpless little girl who didn't have a clue what she was doing. i think it's important to challenge the commonly-held and obviously incredibly cruel assumption that she was just some stupid slut who had it coming, but i worry that some portrayals of her go too far in the opposite direction. it is essential to analyse historical figures as the living, breathing, feeling people that they were, and avoid making caricatures of them as much as possible; and if you ask me, both these different images of katherine howard fail to truly reckon with her character

Back to watching Elementary again, another aspect of the show I enjoy is Sherlock’s open adoration and appreciation of Watson both as a person and a fellow detective. I think that’s something that has been lost in a lot of Holmes adaptions - started mainly by the Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce movies - of Watson being a comedic foil to Holmes, an inept bungler that Sherlock puts up with.
I feel like even in adaptions that have Holmes/Watson having a good relationship, there is this sense of exasperation coming from Holmes about some of Watson’s behaviors (BBC and RDJ come to mind). In Elementary, once Sherlock accepts and embraces his love for Watson, he never really backs down from it. We rarely see him frustrated with her, and if so it’s because of her actions not personality clashes. He knows he’s weird and obnoxious and adapts to Watson’s habits without making a big eye rolling deal out of it.

I've been seeing a lot of "who fell first and who fell harder" promts all around and I obviously had to make it about stingue so my take is that neither of them actually knows because loving the other came as naturally as breathing and they've done it since they met HOWEVER
They didn't actually realize they did until post-gmg, and during the time before that Rogue had been the first to realize he was pining so in technicality: Rogue fell first and Sting fell harder only bc both of them are idiots and didn't notice they were soulmates

Hey all! So if you didn't see it yesterday there is a new Wingfeather trailer for season 2! It's pretty epic!
There's also a new season 2 poster in their shop, and since it has Peet on it I bought it immediately even though I really don't have extra money to spend this week. xD It also has what I think is the first official/finished look at Maraly?!? (the character, not my kitten) As well as the Fork Factory, Claxton Weaver and the Overseer. 👀👀
https://shop.angel.com/pages/wingfeather
Season 2 covers the first half of book 2 and is releasing sometime this year!

I was talking to a girl on bumble and she asked me out and now I'm panicking. I mean. it was to be expected tbh, but I'm not sure I want to meet her? not because of her, but because I have terrible commitment issues and I just know it wouldn't lead anywhere and it would only add to my anxiety, but. idk. maybe I'd be missing out on something potentially nice?

thinking about jamie being gay just makes me feel shrimp emotions honestly like. first of all in the spirit of doing whatever you like with canon I can just. say he's gay. but also there's so much textual evidence which makes him so easy to read as queer. and THEN I think interpreting him as gay adds extra layers to the fact that his initial character brief leans pretty heavily into the (hyper-masculine, heteronormative) character trope of the romantic highlander, but his on-screen character undermines/subverts that trope in a lot of ways.
like it's fun from a shipping point of view AND a textual point of view AND an analytical point of view. just. *chef's kiss* truly the character of all time

I made another oc and I probably will never use him ever again
That's Barry from Archer, was super bored.
Context: Barry started staying at James' (oc) place and his kid, Marcey, isn't a big fan of him.
This takes place during Archer's coma btw

I dont rly have the words, due to the rot, but like. You know gabriel picolo? The one who makes really sweet modern Titans art (check him out if not)? That and Young Just-Us vibe is corrupting me. Friends being family being support system being primary loves being friends. Brain = rotten with it
