i think what i find so refreshing about mushishi is that it doesn't dismiss the people affected by mushis.

like most of the time in those types of shows (in my experience!) the Guy knows all and is Talented and Gifted and whatever and when things go wrong it's because 1-very very evil bad guy who is managing everything secretly and making everything needlessly complicated to solve (doesn't happen here for obvious reasons) or 2- because those ignorant people aren't listening to me even though i have all the information

and mushishi is soo refreshing and calm and true? i guess? in that it just. it acknowledged that they are people who didn't know jack shit about mushis and tried to make the best decisions they could with the information they had. also acknowledges (both the show and ginko, which is refreshing) that they have feelings. they get scared, jealous, they love, they hate etc. and ginko respects that! he understands that he needs to explain things and reassure

and sure he doesn't look particularly happy when people have extreme emotional reactions in his vicinity or when they do the absolute opposite of what he told them to do, but he never gets annoyed or condescending when people hesitate or doubt or are confused and anxious. he just explains and *is calm*

and god it's so refreshing.

that and the fact that mushis aren't evil they're literally just living their life and sometimes they affects human badly but ginko isn't just going to kill them all just because they might one day hurt a human make me love this show so much

anyone else have a problem with being over wordy? Like. I can talk for hours, and I expect people do to the same, but IRL it's never really like that. People don't like it when I want to discuss topics or use... larger words, they don't like conversation anymore. People want instant satisfaction for their thoughts, and don't want to press them any further than a quick hello. I type long messages like this and rants because I enjoy removing some of the ambiguity I have while typing, painting a clearer picture. But every time I do that in a post or a comment, people think I'm either being weird or being aggressive. I'm just not sure where the disconnect lies, but it might be The Autism for me

actually maybe somebody should talk about the accessibility issues in not being able to use certain words on tiktok because it means like... I’m sure I’m not even the first person to say it but I just watched a video where a girl was referencing erotica and she could audibly say “erotica”, but the captions were like “✨veronica ✨”. because god forbid she actually be able to be clear with her language. god forbid anyone on tiktok clearly talk about anything even mildly PG. even just say the word “erotica” because really she wasn’t getting into much detail

but anyway the thing is she can say it but she can’t type it and that’s where it becomes an accessibility issue because for people who are deaf or hard of hearing or not able to listen to the audio for whatever reason, these captions are all they have. but captions that can’t use accurate language are just obscuring meaning and are going to confuse people who can’t rely on the audio and put them at an unfair disadvantage... treat them like babies because they get zero exposure to the actual literal word being said. when we’re just discussing something that exists as a part of life!!! the same way you can’t fucking say “dead” or “sex” or “lesbian” and you have to obscure it all to keep some random advertisers happy knowing that their audience is safely protected from hearing about these things that are a part of life!!!

and idk where I’m going with this but I’m just starting to find it really ridiculous that captions have to be butchered and obscured and and really bear the worst of it since there isn’t (yet) a way to scan audio to make sure these words aren’t audibly said. it’s unfair and ridiculous and exhausting that we can’t just say erotica when we mean erotica

The secret Dungeon Meshi sauce that's getting people to eat better is that it's so non-judgmental. Senshi and the rest of the gang never talk about what not to eat besides things that taste bad and literal poison. They don't even talk about "health" that much besides the importance of a balanced diet. It's so much easier to eat well when you think of food simply as something your body needs, and that it's often worth the extra effort to make it taste good, especially when you understand how to connect "things your body needs" with "things that taste good"

Sometimes I’m reminded that in universe Chilchuck is an actually influential figure who like. Made huge advancements for his people and community. Like as in gave them rights and protections. And who is widely known by half-foots because of that. Like. He’s not just some guy.
