The only reason he's this far down is because I think he'd hesitate.

Tsubomi. I think she'd kill someone just to see if she could get away with it. Then she'd put it away and only bring it out when certain situations arose that needed a Quick Solution™. That girl knows what needs to be done and she does it—she decisive. Anything like Suzuki happens again and she just drops them dead on live television Lind L. Tome. I don't know how to explain this one. Vibes. She feels like she'd be gripped by the powerful urge to kill someone but it would take her a lot to go through with actually writing someone's name down. She'd want to test the Death Note first to see if it worked, so that's one person down, but anyone else would need to have either hurt her or her friends irreversibly, and even then it would probably be a one time thing. She'd use it far less than Tsubomi—two people might actually be her max.

Serizawa. I hc that people with psychic powers can see the Death Note's bad jujus or whatever, so he wouldn't have to test it to know it would work, but I still think he'd use it. If he found it while he was still with Claw, he'd use it because it was easier to kill someone that way than with his psychic powers. Even if it he found it after Claw, it'd be the same reasoning. He's definitely killed people in the past and if someone hurt his friends or his mother he'd very much take the easy out of simply writing down a name rather than going for a fight. He'd still feel really bad about it though, so it'd probably only happen once.

Minori. She uses it to see if it's real, finds that it very much is, and then locks it away in her room. She won't use it, but it'll be a constant thought in her mind. A very real temptation.

Emi. She uses it once out of curiosity to see if it's real, then buries it in the woods where no one will ever find it...but she can go back for it if she ever needs it.

Hanazawa. He's reformed but his temper is still something to behold. He's only this far down the list because he's got that "I could kill you with my powers why would I need a book to do it for me" swag ✨

Shimazaki. Similar to Teru but less reformed. "I would just kill you with my powers why would I need a notebook" two electric boogaloo. Plus he's blind and idk if the Death Note takes braille or morse code.

Reigen. Picks it up out of curiosity and gets a laugh out of it, but doesn't test it. He's seen enough shit to be cautious though, so he has Mob look it over and then burns it once Mob confirms it's got bad vibes.

Also to the nen, i imagine you could both make weapons and stuff (make it not liquid using the iron in blood or smth) and move the blood, idk how to explain it but, when the blood is circulating in your oponents body, you can move it (while its still circulating) and consequently move the body of your oponent.

you know in some ways watching man from uncle and xena next to each other i feel like hmm xena more than almost any other show of the modern tv era feels as much an inheritor of the old 60s style of television experimentation ive always felt like an issue with all subsequent star trek shows is they were never as genre variable or comfortable being so many different things at once as tos like even ds9 picks i think the more modern solution of designating different characters in the ensemble cast to different types of stories like quark gets the comedy episodes because if kira did a bunch of comedy episodes we would take her less seriously in her dark intense episodes and so on but xena embraces both serialization and radical shifts of genre episode to episode and even within episodes like been there done that plays the first joxer death as a mournful heartfelt moment thats shocking to the characters but as the timeloop continues it becomes part of the insane comedy of it all now but anyways the melding of styles feels like the true midpoint between eras of tv in a really fascinating way its embrace of theater as well feels much more of the television styles of the 50s and 60s but again updated and tbh i find its light blend between episodic and serial storytelling really fascinating like the events of maternal instincts and the bitter suite remain unmentioned in one against an army but its placement in the season is clearly meant to be the change in tone from bitter pain dividing them and a return to overt declarations of love and the lack of needing connecting tissue getting you from the bitter suite to one against an army allows both to show only the most heightened and extreme of emotions for maximum impact but they feel implicitly tied as important to be next to each other in their story tho that doesnt mean past episode events go unremarked upon they do but one cant have perfect complete serialization and link so directly the broad comedy and the intense emotional episodes by asking so clearly how one gets from one to the other but both styles are vital for xena the show and the high octane camp infused drama that the show takes idk i really love the flexibility it has and to do it with such a limited cast that xena can be both the funny fishing joke and you know forever tormented by the sins she can never make up for dying in her lovers arms etc etc and it actually feels kind of vital to the style and story to embrace both the comedy and seriousness how quickly it both sets gabrielle up as a comic relief side kick and then starts to ask what would happen to her if she killed someone and we shall take her seriously as a character and so on..

idk. i don't see that she did anything too awful. she sent them back home and saved them from the borg and saved the borg from them and then also got her people thru borg space AND got a gf out of it. leave her alone

i did like all the stuff about intuition vs borg knowledge though...janeway and her intuition remind me of kirk, but janeway and seven both fighting in the brig and then making up in the brig (complete with the touching) is very spones bread and circuses of them.

man, sorry to say this, but...this script sucked bad. i dont think avery brooks is capable of phoning it in but we probability saw him get pretty close here. that final monologue, which should have ben about dax and was instead about the prophets, was poorly written

and dax's last words being about a baby - come on.

and kira and odo's argument - he is not so stupid he would do this without expecting her to be mad

and the scene between dukat and damar...where was the tension?? crazy dukat great but he's been better

even the thing with quark and bashir moping around in the holodeck because of dax was bad on paper

like, all of these things were saved (well, some of them were saved) by admirable performances from a charming and talented cast, but whew! like, julian looked so sad this became funny. kira and odo kissing to make up was so charming i forgave the premise

but dax's death was a bad death and her final arc being about a FUCKING baby was really sexist. sisko leaving not sure if he is coming back bc of some prophet thing right when bajor needs him most seems ooc. and his monologue to dax not being ABOUT. DAX. was a crime. poor terry farrell.

overall s6 has been great so far aside from a couple of bumps but man did it end on a sour note. i have heard season 7 is divisive so i guess we will see!!

I did a little bit of background practice yesterday. I usually forget that I could be drawing scenery and stuff so I’m kinda rough at it. It took like three tries to get the results of that first picture (second picture was one of those tries, and I’m not even showing the other one it was really bad 💀💀💀)

This is pretty much just a study of a photo of a graveyard I ran into on Pinterest. Liminal spaces are very nice for finding background references because you can be sure no one is gonna be in them and they have the weird vibe that The Guy™️ should be in. But holy HELL trees are HARD. Like obviously I know what a tree looks like but the second I have to draw branches trees suddenly do not make sense anymore 💀

Another liminal space, this one was a path with the sky completely blacked out. I tried putting Simon into it but he kinda ended up a little muddled and too small augh. I’m also not very great at combining people and backgrounds so uh yeah. This one was also a much faster doodle just trying to warm up for the first one. But eh it’s cool idk. I need to put him in more liminal spaces or like try to draw the Simon’s Quest areas in 3D eventually.

Small practice comic! There’s no words, Simon just kinda walks a bit and passes out. I was gonna have more things happen but I didn’t have the room for it and decided to just leave it as a little practical piece. He’s probably gonna get up in a little bit and freak out about how much time he wasted.

I usually end up simplifying things as like a little uh polygonal… I think that’s the word… When drawing skulls, I usually go for octagons instead of circles because that’s much easier, but that ends up bleeding into how I draw hair making it kinda spikey and pointy in some spots on the top. I feel like I draw pretty inconsistently, but he’s very pretty and fun to draw regardless of how he ends up :3

Fear Garden is a banger, shout out to Chaa fr, it’s a vocaloid song about a girl who has a weird obsession with hands (Kira joke lol) and kills people to plant their hands in her secret garden where she treats them like flowers. Yeah, again it makes no sense, but the pose with the two mirrored characters was really cool and idk the vibes were there—

Simon sitting in between two graves, both say “BELMONT” in big letters, but one is for Christopher and Cyncia and the other is for Soleil and whoever his significant other was, we don’t have a name so it’s cut off. This has me thinking about the time in between all these characters hmm. Doing the math, Soliel would’ve been in his 90s when Simon was born, so there’s actually a good chance he wasn’t Simon’s grandfather, rather his great grandfather :O. Which means that there’s two generations we know nothing about between these two. And also that Simon would’ve never met either Soleil or Christopher or Cyncia :(. Then that has me thinking about fan comic stuff and how I’m gonna depict Simon hmmmmmmm. I imagine Simon spent a lot of time in the family graveyard tbh.

Simon is totally me when I dramatically collapse on a large marble monument of some sort in the graveyard— There’s also a couple attempts at drawing his paldrons at different angles but aaaa I can’t visualize these things properly. LOL so there’s not a canon endgame (not that anything about TIC is “canon,” but you guys know what I mean hehehe), but there are a few fun possibilities that people can chew on! There may be an “official” endgame at some point if I ever write a post-canon future fic set in this AU, but that’s a big IF!

Option 1 - Matthew / someone else from home: This would probably happen the summer after her junior year of college (after she and KT split up), and they’d have a summer fling that just lasted past the summer. Idk I haven’t fully fleshed out any of these

Option 2 - the one, the only Greg Harrison: I have no idea how this would happen, but it would be funny. Maybe they met at a conference for work, but Greg doesn’t strike me as an academic so idk.

Option 3 - Amber: This is my least favorite option, but also would be super iconic. If they ran into each other/met up at a bar in NYC and just really hit it off. #AndTheyWereRoommates

Option 4 - Fabian: So this is only an option if Fabina for whatever reason doesn’t work out (like if she isolated herself out of fear of hurting other ppl with chosen one bullshit, got killed by chosen one bullshit, they just had another wacky breakup… you know how it goes). They would be colleagues in academia, and I think they would actually pair up surprisingly well. Students at the university would eat it up for sure. Option 5 - … KT: OKAY! I’ve given it thought, and it’s very possible that they could have broken up in college, stayed good friends, and then gotten back together later down the line. hm. i don't know if i like any characters who are unpopular within the fandom circles i travel in. like certainly scott is unpopular with the fandom at large, we know this, but i don't travel in those circles so. idk. i guess i think victoria argent is interesting? imo after allison she's the most compelling argent. i think killing yourself rather than becoming a werewolf shows a kind of commitment to one's ideology that automatically makes a character interesting. i don't know what the popular opinion on victoria argent is but that's my take.

see again i could point to fandom at large for this but frankly fandom at large sleeps on anything that isn't sterek or steter so i could say anything and it would be true. so my actual answer is that i think more people should ship theo/mason. i get why sceo is popular but i don't know why thiam is so big when...thason? meo? the character everyone gets wrong

ooooh. um. all of them? laksdjflkasdlf BUT its hard to blame anyone when the writing is a little all over the place. i think its easy to boil characters down to oversimplified traits that ignore other important parts of those characters' experiences. obviously this happens with scott REAL BAD but it happens with stiles and derek too. i think for me a big thing is that those boys are both INCREDIBLY fucked up. in very different ways but, still. stiles is not a happy go lucky nerd. he's violent and stubborn and yes he's smart as hell but he's also carrying a lot of baggage. derek is trauma personified, and it can be really fucking hard to write him because we don't usually see his responses to that trauma on screen and the show sometimes forgets or conflicts itself with regard to what happened to him but no matter how you slice it that boy is deeply fucked up.

i'm also ready for canary's rage, and her deciding to really embody the adler name and get her money and estate back like the queen she is. adler and canary have a very complicated relationship, and a lot of it stems from her mother's death. i think adler knows that his wife's death falls like 98% on his shoulders, but has shifted blame to canary because it's easier for him to be mad at someone else even if it's his own daughter. he's always been a little harsher on her than he was with graves, but convinced himself that it was for her own benefit and to make her stronger in the world that he was raising her to be a part of and take over.

so, of course, when everything goes down with graves and canary waltzes into purgatory/limbo while graves has control over everything, adler is pissed, regardless of the circumstances leading to that outcome. to me, he has a very black and white view of canary's situation and thinks that if she wanted to, she could've found a way out or to get rid of graves when it's not that simple. for canary, it feels like just another thing he's blaming her for, and she's realizing that almost every man in her life - graves, makarov, adler, shepherd, even price - are all the same; they all see her as a tool to be used, a bargaining chip, and she's not having it anymore. canary really is out for blood now, but whether or not the 141 is going to be included in that is undecided.

i don't think there was any other choice for her than to go back. like wanting to continue the story aside, adler was right when he figured she wouldn't be able to live with herself letting graves win, and canary knew that. sure, if she'd stayed she would get to see her mother and not have to worry about makarov or price or anyone else, but letting graves get away with no consequences after everything he's done to her? absolutely not.

i think she is a bit frazzled, but also more resolute after talking with her father. she knows what needs to be done, she knows she's going to need the 141 to do it, but she also knows she doesn't have to be happy and nice about it either. cordial, yes, but she's not going to forget what they accused her of anytime soon.

who knows what shepherd is going to do with price, but i can absolutely tell you canary's hands are rated e for everyone 24/7 365. she is out for blood, and she doesn't intend on taking any prisoners.

I know I’ve rambled about this several times, but there are so many ways Kat’s storyline could've gone after S1 other than eating disorder or STD! I hate that Sam Levinson pretty much gave up on writing her just because Barbie didn’t want to do those storylines. Your job as a writer is to come up with something else if the original idea doesn’t make sense or if you’re going to abandon a plot/character, do it in a way that at least makes it LOOK like you tried!

Even Teen Wolf did a better at that cuz I still remember watching S6A, waiting for Kira to come back before Arden said she got written out of the show!

Sam could’ve dived deeper into why she doesn’t want to be with Ethan anymore. He was off to a good start in the first 4 episodes of S2, but then it just went nowhere and then they had that shitty breakup.

Someone on Twitter said her and Cassie could’ve had intertwining storylines that reflected their need for male validation, the journey to self-love, and how they could’ve became closer friends through it.

I think Kat and Lexi could’ve became a writer duo and Sam could’ve made parallels between them, their writing, their insecurities, and their relationships. Like how even though Kat has made plenty of popular fanfics, she’s still too afraid to really put herself out there and hides behind an online persona because she thinks people won’t like her anymore based on her looks. Meanwhile, Lexi is also afraid and a very shy person, but she still found the courage to put on a big play, express herself, and talk about her trauma.

Idk where I’m going with this, but Sam really forgot that Kat had hobbies and interests before the cam girl stuff! Her being a fanfic writer on TUMBLR (of all sites to be mentioned in a show) was what caught my attention about her. The only time he came even remotely close to remembering was when she was fantasizing about that Game of Thrones looking guy killing Ethan and having s3x with her.

And whatever happened to the “Sam works with the cast members while writing and lets them add in their own ideas” thing?! It’s like that went away in S2 and the only ones that got to do it for their characters were Zendaya and Maude!

here's the thing. while i have reversed my stance on lwaxana troi, who got much better in her final few episodes (was this the last one or do we have one more...?), i don't want odo/lwaxana to be better than odo/kira and the odo/lwaxana was REALLY GOOD. and ik some people really didn't like the way odo/kira wound up happening in canon so even though idk what happens yet NOBODY TELL ME i am bracing for it to be bad and to love it unconditionally anyway. so that was a huge struggle for me

odo in his little shapeshifter playground feeding off of lwaxana's giddiness...i wish deanna had been able to do the reverse-empath thing on tng, it would have been so much fun

sigh. so apparently a lot of people really like this episode but i...hated it. one of the worst voy episodes to date actually

whatever this episode THINKS it's saying about fear is lost under the set dressing. and the set dressing IS really cool - i like the wacky practical effects and bright colors. it reminds me a lot of tos. in fact, this whole episode could have been a tos episode, but it would have been one of those tos episodes that makes the top 10 worst ranking or whatever

the problem is the Randumb XD Humor...it's like q, like the squire of gothos. it just doesn't hit for me and never will. like, the actors were good at what they did, the costumes looked great, the set was funky, even the background music really fucked, but things being Randumb XD is just too dated for me. i don't mind star trek being dated most of the time but this is where i draw the line. maybe i'd like it better if i gave it another shot, but i probably will not be doing that

i think janeway called it in, with her acting. like everyone's like damn she ACTED no girl she did a lot of dramatic whispering. and who can blame her. the script was all over the place

i just think if you're trying to terrify people you could do better than the circus theme. yeah, clowns bad, but even tng had that spooky morgue thing happening

also, lost opportunity: if this clown guy can kill people by scaring them to death ie making them live the experience of getting their heads chopped off virtually which gives them a heart attack in real life then why not write tuvok, local expert at conquering fear, into this episode? you could have cut off tuvok's head and he wouldn't have died of fright. it would have been perfect for the metaphor

the ending to this episode would have fucked a lot more if the rest of it hadn't sucked so bad. janeway's murder walk was REALLY good. it's also something kirk would have done, if they'd had the holodeck in tos, and thank GOD they didn't

but yeah, the solution of fear needing conquering and wanting to be conquered just doesn't hit when most of the script...didn't really talk about fear, it was just wilding out
