But what this tell is is for me to know and you to find out >:3

Since Hunter got sent from family to family he probably has some abandonment issues, right? How does he deal with them and how long do you think the process will be until he's not scared anymore that Caleb and Belos would do the same. I can imagine it's a little hard to let those fears go especially if nightmares plague him or if he gets into a fight or disagreement with Caleb and Belos. Of course, both would be fast to reassure him that he won't lose them.

Ooooo, see, this is actually one of the reoccurring themes of this au, something that really makes it specifically distinct from canon's events with their main cast.

Because abandonment issues are not just something hunter has, but philip, and caleb, and then it extends further to luz, king, collector ect ect. A lot of people in this au are strongly affected by feeling left behind, which is a trait that does eventually pull them together, but absolutely has a negative affect on other aspects of their behavior.

So Hunter's never had a real stable home before he ended up on the isles, being tossed as much as he did between places gave him a sense of being unwanted and that there was something wrong with him. He'd just give up on being adopted and would be found going to his special spot in the woods, the place he was told he was "Found" as a baby, and leave letters and messages to his missing parents.

Hoping they would one day read them and come back for him.

When that never happened, he eventually tried to run away, and this time, he made his way into the demon realm and landed in philip's home by pure accident and luck.

Despite Philip's dismissal at the start, his care of hunter and protectiveness of him very quickly hit something for hunter because this is basically what he wanted the whole time. (Though funnily enough this is due strongly to philip's own abandonment issues). So yeah, hunter starts to actually like living there, he's finally getting used to being in some kinda family, people take care of him, he has his own permanent bedroom.

And philip had been planning to return him to the human realm once he got a fixed portal, and this slowly starts to bother him more and more because he can't help but like what he now has. So much so that THAT is his fear on grom, that philip will actually toss him away just like everyone else.

So yeah, you're right about it plaguing hunter's mind, it's pretty bad if it's his worst fear, and even when he's finally adopted by caleb he still needs reassurance from him that things will be different.

Hunter does sometimes need reassurance, and to be reminded he's home, and this won't be another temporary place for him. Sometimes he asks to sleep next to his dad or uncle that night, because knowing they're there helps him feel more secure.

if they fight, hunter is given his space, but no one threatens to throw him out, he's still brought food and toys and anything he needs. He's not punished for being upset, which is what he needs to reassure him this is still his home and people still care about him.

And philip and caleb relate, because they know what it's like to be orphans, to struggle to find a home. It's what makes Caleb want to adopt hunter into the family, it's something philip sees in himself when he looks at hunter.

Philip feels like caleb abandoned him, now another human arrives after so long, and he looks like his brother, in ways he doesn't want to admit.....he doesn't want hunter to leave him either.

And caleb, so many people have left him at this point, and now his current family is separating themselves from him, keeping secrets and lying to him.

(I guess in a way you can say he's now got a better grasp of how philip felt about what he did, and how he hurt him)

And it makes him react for better and worse, trying to not let himself lose anyone again. Even his leaving to eventually live with philip awhile sparks some abandonment issues for luz, who looked up to him for awhile.

i wanted to adapt some of the traits they had from canon, but in the au, rather then just take from canon. While the show never states directly, there is a strong emphasis philip feels abandoned by his brother, and feels like he needs him by his side one way or another, whether he think caleb did that on purpose or not. And hunter in the show wants a sense of belonging, so might as well put that here as well.

The three of them act out due to loss, to people leaving them, they might turns others away as a result, and sometimes are desperate to fix it and keep what they can by doing drastic things based on emotions.

You can imagine after finally fitting as a small little family, how much it hurt for philip to choose to stay with the collector and leave caleb and hunter on earth

They're not a perfect little family, they've all been hurt before, they all still struggle with abandonment, but they're healing, and none of them feel alone anymore.

Especially since Frank and his books actually don't have that much about it, for once! So, once they learn about it, you will have a lot of teaching to do.

📽️ So, when start speaking or singing in your language, they are amazed! They only thought that one language existed, to be honest. They think it sounds very pretty! If you are willing to teach them, they will go absolutely insane with joy! Though, they might be a bit confused about why you only speak your language when upset or at a loss for words. It is so amazing, why don't you speak it more often? Imagine how pretty it would sound if you spoke it while happy!

📽️ Do you celebrate holidays specific to where you are from? If you do, the first time you start setting up for it, a few of them might be watching with curiosity. After a while, they might start visiting to ask questions. Celebrations? MORE celebrations than they already knew of? Count them in! They might have a bit of trouble understanding the symbolism behind certain aspects of it, though. Also, if you celebrate The Day of the Dead, you might have to explain what exactly "death, dead, and dying" are. Once they understand, though, they would probably like it! I feel like they have a very basic knowledge of funerals, but never understood some parts until you explained them. They would enjoy how The Day of the Dead serves as a reminder of the happy times with loved ones without the crushing atmosphere of a funeral.

Demo- Half A Decade Hangover and The First Step. I genuinely think this man hates being an alcoholic. He loves it when he can be fun and have a good time, but he hates the fact that he depends on it so hard.

Engie- Um, It's Kind Of A Lot. Okay, so this ties back into one of my first headcanons, I think. So I genuinely think the reason Engie is so close with Pyro and the other Mercs is because this man didn't have a family that really cared for him. Like not abusive but just not present. He. Is. Scared. Of. Love. He's scared the people he cares about will be taken from him. He's scared that he cares too much and that he'll never feel that in return.

Heavy- (When I tell you I struggled on this one) Venetian Blind Man. Okay, I'm not going to lie. This one is more of the style and music than the lyrics. I just think it fits, I really can't explain it.

Medic- Your Body, My Temple, and Yes to Err is Human, So Don't Be One. I think Your Body, My Temple fits him well because this man literally loves the human anatomy. He views the body as a temple, but not in the way like gym bros and fitness bloggers do. No, like this man thinks the human body is something to worship (nonsexual). Also, a lot of connections to people, which is shown in the song and i also think the religious aspect just fits some how. Yes to Err is Human, So Don't Be One is definitely a song that for me captures a sense of eerieness and almost inhumanity in a person, not saying that Medic isn't human or doesn't have humanity but I definitely think he has moments where he forgets about that. He always catches himself, tho. EDIT- JevTheJester let me know that BlackBoxWarrior - OKULTRA also fits Medic, and I agree. I think the upbeat tempo is a great fit, and it fits insanely well! ( The longest description goes to my wife, of course 😮‍💨)

Scout- Tomcat Disposables and Love, Me Normally. Oh boy. Tomcat Disposables just fits him so well. Like I think this man loves his family and home so much and just wants to provide that for a future family. I think he's also just really scared of dying (again)? Because I definitely think on the outside, he's all like cocky and chill about it but on the inside he's so fucking scared. Another mix of being confident and cool on the outside while also being really scared on the inside, but this time it's about getting close to people! Abandonment issues and all that wacky stuff. Give this man a hug pls.

Sniper- Becoming Lastnames. Let's be real. This man has family trauma. He loves his mom to death, but I definitely think his dad was distant, and when he was present, he was very strict and cold. He definitely wants a family he can be a good father/husband to, but he also knows that's probably not possible.

Spy- Cicada Days and I/Me/Myself. Commitment issues and genderfluid? He's just like me fr. (Jokes) I think Cicada Days can represent the times he's actually felt love, but he got scared and left. Specifically with Scout and his mom. I/Me/Myself, I don't think this man knows how he feels about his gender identity and hates it. Like def has internalized a lot of shit, being queer being one of the major ones. (all people who can change appearances at will in media are genderfluid come at me).

Soldier- (I struggled with this one too, ngl.). Morning Announcements. I think it just matches him and upbeat vibe with no really idea behind it.

Pyro- 2econd 2ight 2eer and Memento Mori: the most important thing in the world. This dude definitely has high energy, and I can picture them singing 2econd 2ight 2eer and like really getting into it (if they could actually be understood). Okay, a thought. I can vividly imagine Pyro (if they could be understood). Singing this song with Medic. Both of them actually like the concept of death.

This seems to be a key point in Levi’s characteristics and overall nature, which actually explains a lot of where he’s coming from, other than “oh he’s envy so obviously he’s envious 🙄🙄🙄🤓🤓👆”…I mean that is true, buuuut I mean the more personal aspects of him characters. Yes he is a ball of envy but he specifically chooses to be an otaku, or more specifically a gamer for that matter.

A casual player who couldn’t have been that invested in the game would just say “oh uh because the game needed a quirky shut in”, which is may be partially true but also does deny the fact that he used to be, and still is, a master strategist due to his role in the Celestial War. Leviathan is smart, that I cannot deny. He may not be book smart like Satan but he is smart, and it was this intelligence of his was more explored as a plot point or at least given more importance in the story rather than a throw away in a chat.

I mean cmon be fr rn. Being Grand Admiral FROM MOTHERFUCKING HELL is a big deal no matter how you put it, former or otherwise. It’s just a bit of a waste for this to be so overlooked because I don’t know, the developers want him to play into his uwu shy boy persona all the more.

No cuz imagine Beyoncé becoming a barista in the future and from that point on nothing about her being literal Beyoncé is even given a lick of recognition like “May I take your order Ma’am” “HOLY SH-“ “um chill anyways so”

Another thing it explains is his certain envy towards his brothers and other people for that matter. Yes the game could’ve easily gone through the “oh yeah he’s envy soo 🤓🤓🤓” and honestly it sorta did but it also could’ve have gone in the opposite direction and explained that oh maybe the root of his jealously stemmed from his importance in the war—and now that that has been stripped of him, he doesn’t know what to do with himself, he thinks of himself as worthless now that he can’t move on from his ptsd.

This specific scenario was explained upon in the first few chapters of Nightbringer where he was jealous his brothers were able to move on with their lives while he lived in a cesspool of his owl self-pity, and I do applaud the game for that. (honestly I’m just picky that they didn’t go through the admiral route because HE COULDVE BEEN SO FRIGGIN HOT IN HIS OUTFIT I SWEAR—)

Lastly, I think this could’ve also explained (at least slightly) the extent of his power as the Leviathan. I mean he is a sin, he is a powerful demon from Hell, yet like all of them we don’t get to see the extent of his power, or at least a glimpse into what he can do (HE IS A DEMON AFTER ALL AND THE THIRD RANKED BROTHER IN TERMS OF STRENGTH, CMON BRO) :)

Lore/Design/Backstory infodump below (may contain spoilers, if i end up actually doing anything with this storytelling wise)

cadilver is a portmanteau of "cadaver" and "silver". his aspects include, predictably, metal and general undead shenanigans, though he was also really into Halloween for backstory reasons when he was. alive? (complicated) so that carried over as well. he gets to join the holiday gang (compale and arrolin). stuff happens :) that i may write about proper if i get the motivation

his true form symbol is a concentric cloverleaf pattern, in the orientation associated with metal jewelry and not highways. mostly cause i thought it looked cool and not for deeper meaning. their normal symbol is more. interpretable. it's his prepoint's 'eyes', yes, but also infinity, cool sunglasses, ouroborous, venn diagram. you can really go crazy with it. it's mostly just them big ol eyes.

oh yeah! prepoint lore. i haven't fully decided how much of the p7v plague lore i want to use for him (some of it is insane and wouldn't fit AF well) but what's definitely sticking is the facts that he was undead (if cyalm can pointify a robot then reanimating a reanimated corpse is light work. also, name), cavorted around in a plague doctor costume, was powerful enough to at least hold out against cyalm in a fight, and [definitely something i wanna reveal later].

interestingly, they're more "alive" now than they were before, having a complete kinda-organic body, fully functional senses, and the capability to experience emotion normally. cyalm did some witchery fr. on the downside they just "die" as a extreme stress response now. like a possum. apparently that's called "thanatosis", which is a really good word. usually it takes specific triggers to set him off that badly.

cad's world is functionally the 9th because ixol has been pretty much exiled from the Emporium. the two have never met (cad was Pointified later), and (probably) won't meet until AF2's events. ixol has yet to draw the message or their symbol on the walls to indicate their location. the other points knew ixol somewhat but unanimously (some more reluctantly than others) agreed to exile them once they started hearing voices.

the world is called Night of Nightmares (double reference lol) and is located in the same area as Battery Canyon, maybe on the right side.

- Mars in Leo: congratulations! u win first place for “the most horny mars placement” i’ve met too many mars in leo people that literally just wanna smash, they didn’t care about the emotional undercurrents of being intimate, they just wanted that physical reassurance.

- cancer moon men literally want to be in a relationship with their mom. very oedipus coded. not in any obvious or actual way but like they look for people who have traits of their own mother. even if they don’t look up to her or necessarily like her, they will get romantically involved only if the person reminds them of their mom.

- fire moon: people with their moon in the fire element need a physical release for their emotions in general. it could be doing research, crafting, working out, or playing music. whatever it is, it helps the fire moon person put that emotional energy into a physical form so they feel like it has a rightful place and it’s kinda like validation for experiencing that emotion.

- air moon: now air moons have been the ones to be the most extroverted in my opinion. maybe not full extrovert but it’s like it comes over them when they’re in a social setting with someone who is more shy than them so they have this obligation to help the other person socialize and talk. it’s very sweet. also special note, gemini moon will never not talk to a stranger so no matter what other placements are influencing them, they will always be extrovert or ambivert because that hunger to know more will not allow them to shut up.

I think another part of what's so weird about the Auraboa lore story... is that "The Seed and the Sickness" tackled a lot of the qualities of the POV character already in a way that, well, respected the cultural differences of two groups while also deconstructing the differences in their communication and how this can affect their connection.

Like, read it while specifically looking out for how it portrays the cultural divide between Nature/Plague. There is a divide in the way they communicate (Nature is more "traditional" in its expressions of care, but Plague has more reserved dragons who instead emphasize actions and good health), but there is still ultimately an understanding; the dragons from both sides are able to realize they care for each other. Even though the POV character is from Nature, you never feel excluded from Plague's world or the minds of its dragons.

Even then, "The Seed and the Sickness"... doesn't have a happy ending. Nature and Plague as a whole don't get along in the end. There is a standing conflict. One of the main characters may well be dead (with this point also used to remind the reader of this divide). Good intentions don't solve everything in the face of cataclysm, and yet, this is a satisfying ending. At no point do we feel as if we're being told that broaching this gap is futile; only that, in the face of an eternity of conflict, it will never be easy. But their connection is still what saved the day in the end.

"The Seed and the Sickness" is a story full of unfortunate circumstances and cultural barriers. It's about how compassion between individuals can broach long-standing divides, but about how these individuals are still often at the mercy of a cruel, flawed world. I find it odd to return to after the recent lore; it almost makes certain aspects of the Auraboa story seem vapid by comparison, a side-stepping of meaningful cultural exploration for a story tied up in a neat bow instead.

And it's not as if the components of something deeper aren't there. The conflict presented in the Auraboa lore did resonate with a lot of people, but it wasn't handled with a sliver of the gravity or compassion that the narrative ought to have had for it. I mean, honestly, I think the original Auraboa lore only exists as it does because staff wanted to avoid unfortunate implications. There's hardly a line not punctuated by the consent and respect we're told is offered to the Auraboa by the POV character. It really only compounds the issues present to be constantly reminded that the Auraboa need to be so carefully regarded as an "other" by not only the main character, but the writing itself.

"The Seed and the Sickness" reminds me why FR lore can resonate with me, and especially why Nature and Plague have. It reminds me of the kind of complexity I want to see from FR lore. The kind of complexity that people want to be able to read into it without the narrative telling them otherwise.

I do love FR's lore, really. And I think with the right handling it can tell very, very good stories, with very meaningful things to say.

Yes I am always willing to talk about this specific topic, no joke. I'm not sure which specific parts you want explained, but i do have this post about why she's not a mother figure to Roman. Also I am so sorry that this is like 3-4 days late.

In that post, I say that Gerri's relationship to Roman is like a "more ideal version of his relationship to Logan." While I still do think those two relationships mirror each other, I also don't think of it as ideal, rather I think of her as almost an intermediary between Roman and Logan. By this, I mean that to Roman, Gerri is a proxy for Logan with whom he's allowed to be more human with. Gerri intimidates Roman, but she doesn't strike fear into his heart the way Logan does. She's more approachable and he can ask her to do things for and with him the way he couldn't with his father. If Logan is God (the Father), (Fr) Gerri is the priest.

In “Hunting,” Roman asks Gerri how to “get [Logan] to take [him] seriously,” and Gerri offers to help him with that. Logan's life is his business and his kids know this because he's made it their lives as well. This is why to the Roy family, the role of the child is to honour the father's legacy. They must work at Waystar if they are to get any attention, let alone love from him. If that's the child's role, then it's fair to assume that the father's role must be to prepare the child for that, but Logan fails to adequately do so. This means he's hampered his children's ability to show their affection in a way that he will understand it. He expects them to figure this out on their own because telling them how to do this is cheating— it's a handout. This is where Gerri comes in: she basically fills this role for Roman. She's the one who mentors him in the very specific job of “getting Logan to take him seriously,” not Logan himself.

The sexual aspect of Roman’s relationship to Gerri is still important here. The most notable things about their sexual relationship are that they are always physically separated in a way where they can’t see each other, that Gerri degrades him and that she doesn’t get off on this, at least not while he does. The combination of all three shows that the act of masturbation, the actual sexual element, is part of why Roman is the submissive. It’s what makes him disgusting while Gerri isn’t because she not the one doing the shameful act-- she’s condemning it. The image of Roman masturbating behind the door as she berates him resembles confession. This brings us back to the priest metaphor. Roman is allowed to reveal his sins to Gerri because she isn’t his father. Her berating him mimics the verbal abuse that Logan directs toward Roman. In this, we can see Gerri as a vessel for the word of Logan. She validates the shame he already feels and through this, he is forgiven.

Roman’s taste or choice in potential sexual/romantic partners is heavily influenced by Logan, albeit indirectly. He goes for Tabitha because “dad would go nuts for her,” but they don’t work because he’s not his dad-- he’s not able to fuck. There’s a genuine affection between them for sure, but they’re just very sexually incompatible. Unlike with Tabitha, he isn’t attracted to Gerri because of Logan’s potential attraction to her, rather he’s attracted to her for her resemblance to Logan. She’s the disciplinarian and the mentor. She even takes Logan’s place as (interim) CEO by Roman’s suggestion. The other people that Roman’s shown attraction to are all people who meet the masculine ideals that his father projects: the personal trainer is more physically masculine, Eduard successfully acts as a proxy for his own father, Mencken is a fascist politician, and Lukas is a “self-made” billionaire trying to buy Waystar. This might indicate that Roman has a negative Oedipus complex, that he subconsciously wants to receive his father’s affection and take his mother’s place. I don’t think Roman ever would or could pursue this in a literal way as it would probably be disgusting and scary to him, and the consequences would be horrendous. This is why there is a desire for a symbolic father; however, because Roman’s life is dedicated to his father, he still tries to “marry” Logan. The “marriage” can only be symbolic so, it’s replaced with him being co-CEOs with Logan. This is very much in line with the “business is my fucking” theme in the show. It becomes more obvious when we see that Roman is the only sibling to talk about “being fucked” by their father as a good thing. To him, “being fucked,” means receiving affection. To the others, it means being fucked over because “being fucked” is submission and “fucking” is domination.

you play the sims?! 3 or 4? do you use mods at all, and if so, which one? do you keep sim autonomy on or off? sorry for the barrage of questions, it's just exciting to meet someone else who's into them :D

oh my god yes!! sims is one of my biggest obsessions and i don't know that many other people who play (or at least who are as into it as i am) so i'm thrilled to talk about it!!

i will start by saying that my WOT sims shenanigans tag may interest you haha although i forget if you've read the books or not, so be warned of potential book spoilers in my commentary on the behavior of my WOT sims!

anyway, nowadays i exclusively play sims 4. i loved sims 3 back in middle/high school, but i didn't play it for ages after 4 came out, and when i went back to try 3 again a couple years ago, i just couldn't do it haha i know some people like to hate on 4 and yearn for the glory days of 3, but as someone whose favorite aspect is building stuff and creating sims, i prefer 4 because it's MILES better in those respects. i do have fond memories of many hours spent playing 3 though!

then for mods, i try not to go too crazy because i play on my laptop which only has so much storage space, but by now i've acquired QUITE a stash of custom content despite myself (mostly clothes & hair, not as much build/buy stuff). i don't use too many actual gameplay mods though, the only big ones i have are mc command center, lumpinou's open love life mod to allow poly relationships, and pandasama's realistic childbirth mod to add some more depth to pregnancy. romance & family gameplay is my favorite type of gameplay, so those are the areas i'm most likely to download mods for! i also have a few other small mods such as a dating app mod and choosing your own university roommates, just kinda some quality-of-life improvements but nothing majorly game-changing. i've also been getting into pose mods in the past year so that i can stage nice photos of my sims to hang up around their houses!

i keep sim autonomy on, i like giving them the free will to be able to take care of themselves without me needing to specifically command them to do every single thing haha and it keeps things interesting when they're able to take it upon themselves to do something unexpected! (not that i won't go "nope you're not doing that" and cancel the action if i disapprove of it too much djkfgj)

oh i am also curious to know whether you're an aging on or aging off type of simmer? historically i've always been 100% aging off, i've always done rotational gameplay rather than legacy gameplay and so i prefer to keep aging off and just repeatedly make new households within the same world and have my new sims become friends with my sims from the previous households i dropped after getting bored with them, and everybody lives forever and ever until i eventually feel like the world is too crowded and start a brand-new save file. however, just recently i've been playing with aging on in a separate save file because i'm trying a legacy challenge for the first time! it's the whimsy stories challenge and i'm on generation 3 now and am having SO much fun. i definitely can't see myself switching to legacy gameplay forever now, i do still prefer rotational, but it's nice to have one save file where i'm changing it up!

to conclude, i will put in a few screenshots of some of my favorite sims from the past year or so just because i love them so much and want to show them off as if they were my children djkfg please do not feel obligated to read all my rambling about my children! but if you have any favorite sims or storylines that you've done i would love to hear about them!! it's always so interesting to hear what kinds of storylines other people like to go for, it's either "wow you're just like me fr!" or "wow you're playing a totally different game than i am (affectionate and impressed)"

i will preface this by saying that 1) i don't play on super high graphics because i don't want to kill my laptop, so pardon the screenshot quality if any of them don't look great, and 2) half the male sims i've made this year have been redheaded boytoys and i 100% blame rand al'thor for that. moving on!

first, my 3 whimsy stories heirs so far! eva (gen 1, eco nut), iris (gen 2, professor & super parent), and kiara (gen 3, disaster hoe). if/when i finish the whole challenge i'll probably do a post about all the generations because i'll be so proud of myself for getting through it all haha but for now i'll add pics of each of their families as well! for eva and iris it's the final family pic i took before moving on to the next generation, but i'm still halfway through kiara's generation so this is a mid-series pic from her big fat poly wedding.

in whimsy stories i waited all the way until gen 3 to introduce a redheaded boytoy into the mix, can you believe it? i did not exercise such restraint in the rest of the households in this post.

next, literally just discount rand and mat, i have no excuse. discount mat is named jamie (personality-wise he's not mat-like though, he's a writer) and discount rand i straight up named josha djkfgj to be fair i actually based him off of josha's character in a gay dutch romcom rather than off of rand because i was like "you know what? gay punk jock with a buzzcut is not a genre of sim i've done before." anyway, josha struggled in his life for a while due to having no job and no friends and being a hotheaded loner who is very bad at making new friends, but eventually he became a husband and a dad and a college grad and i was so proud of him!!

rich single mom natasha acquired a boytoy (eoin), as she should, and had a friends-with-benefits-to-lovers arc with him. yes i did make these sims immediately after watching the randfear storyline in wot s2, why do you ask? also, random picture of a family power walk because i thought it was adorable haha

her daughter anya had a kickass girlsquad in college and ended up marrying one of them. oh my god they were roommates!

and finally, possibly my favorite sims of all time, joanna and alex! i don't know what it is about them, maybe just my inner 12-year-old being weak for the "popular jock boy falls for shy nerdy girl" trope jkjfg but i just loved them so much. alex grew from a partyboy into the best and most devoted husband and dad in the world, and joanna from an awkward nerd into a kickass lawyer and novelist. they are also bi4bi which is important information! granted, almost all my sims are bi4bi

today totk got released!! and I played for 8 hours straight 😭 I'm not suuper far in the game yet, I sort of just started the rito quest with tulin, but here are some things I love and dislike about the game so far:

first of all I love the archaic outfit 😊 however I'm very sad that it only does 1 protection because I wanted to wear it all the time AJDBAJDB

I love everything about the zonai, like the way they look, the music associated with them, the way they talk at the end of a shrine, the way you can tell something is of zonai make just by looking at it, like that's how you know a concept design is well done ✋ I'm so fascinated by how rauru looks, he's just so amazing

I do hate how extremely similar aspects of the great sky island are to the great plateau, though. "room of awakening" bro r u serious rn 😭 the way rauru follows you around like the king good bye. I just feel like this could have been done a little more uniquely so that it didn't feel like the great plateau with a texture pack slapped over it

there's also some things that I felt botw just did so much better than totk. like the way rauru's ghost would disappear felt very cheap and uneventful, like why does he just fade to 0 opacity and nothing else happens ?? at least with the king his ghost faded with the little blue flames and sparkles, it made it seem more interesting

I hate the inventory layout I'm sawryy 😭 the botw inventory looks very sleek and easy to comprehend, but the way the totk inventory is designed just feels very cheap and elementary to me. not the scrolling on one page instead of having multiple pages, that's not my issue. just the color design and how so much more information is crowded into each tiny box when you are selling things, it just confuses the player with too much info

uhh what else. oh! I also hate the animation for when you get the abilities at the beginning, and when you get those lights of blessing or whatever (honestly I hate that name too, why is it so long I literally can't remember it 😭). like why do the orbs with the abilities and blessings look so 2d and unfinished? they look like they were slapped on top as a fanmade effect rather than actually being a part of the game, and every time I see it, I feel removed from being immersed in the games because it's distracting

but I totally love the way the zonai statues are at the end of the shrines!!! the way they talk is SO 🙏🙏 like I'm totally obsessed with it. also!! this is very specific, but I love the music that plays during shrine battles, like why does that song go so hard fr

omg something else I love is the pony points system it's so cute 😭✋ and honestly it's a great incentive for me to use the stables, I don't think I used them that much in botw so I definitely appreciate this new addition

this is more of a personal preference rather than a game quality thing but I AM SO HAPPY THERE'S PIRATES IN THIS GAME AAAAAAA i can't wait to go to lurelin village I rlly hope they let me join the pirates 🙏 (hi it's me from the future here, girl wtf why are the pirates literally just MONSTERS ON BOATS 🙁 give me real fucking pirates you cowards)

omg yeah I was obsessed with the frozen rito village ost, it had the core elements of the ost from botw but with that lonely haunted vibe and I was gonna cry omg it really set the mood and I loved listening to it 😭

ohh yeah something I didn't enjoy was how it felt like I was being overloaded with so much plot-heavy info, especially once I started the rito village quest. like yeah I get maybe playing for 8 hours in one day is probably gonna fry my brain and attention span but it just felt like they were telling me to do all these things and I just felt so overwhelmed that I literally had to put the game away and stop playing for the night 😭 I think if things were spaced out more for what they tell you then the plot might have been more digestible

oh yeah this is minor but I don't like how when you go to a new place it says "discovery!" and also when you cook a new food it says "new!" like it felt very commercial and broke the immersion in the game for me, there was literally no reason for it to be in the game? (upon playing the game further I've decided I don't mind the "discovery" notif. but I still don't like when it says "new!" on a food I cooked sorryyy)

OMG WAIT SOMETHING I LOVED was how link cycles through humming different things when he cooks!!! it's so cute and I love him for it 😭

also I loved the function of when you open a chest and get a weapon but your inventory is full, instead of having to close the chest drop a weapon and reopen the chest, they added the feature where your inventory pops up and you can drop a weapon while still in the chest so you don't have to switch back and forth. it was so relieving for me ✋

umm I definitely feel like there was more I wanted to say, I just forgot 😭 but let me just say, despite me having a lot of negatives on here, I still really enjoyed this game, and honestly aside from the things I mentioned I disliked, I love pretty much everything else about the game!! there's so much to love and appreciate, I really can't list it all or else I'd just be listing literally every aspect about this game ajdhskfj. so yeah. while I'm disappointed that I found parts of totk to be lesser than what I had hoped, I am still overall ecstatic about this game and I'm so excited to see what else I'll discover in this game!!!! (hey it's me as of writing this post, I definitely wrote this last paragraph to avoid getting bullied for not liking a lot of things LOLL)

hey I'm back (not as of writing this post, like a couple months after initially starting totk), listen ok I hate these stupid sage powers like 💀 they're literally not useful at all, I think tulin's is the only one I use regularly, and even then I'd rather have revali's gale bc at least it goes up ??

I've been watching other ppl play and I realize that actually yunobo and riju can kinda be useful when fighting large groups, like if you just activate yunobi's ability you don't really need to aim him, and he'll hit a bunch of monsters. same with riju, just activate her and shoot somewhere random and it'll do damage. but other than that, like sidon and mineru are useless 😭 also I get rlly annoyed when I'm trying to pick things up and tulin gets in the way like GIRL GO AWAY ugh it would just be so much better if the abilities were activated like the champions instead idk

ok I'm obsessed with the way rauru's ear twitches LOLL THAT'S SO RANDOM but in the memories it's just so satisfying to see

hm idk how to explain this but there's some aspects of this game that feel very aoc to me and it annoys me. like, the defend kara kara bazaar + gerudo village quests, and that one thing in hateno with the stupid pumpkins, idk but it totally threw me off guard with having to fight with npcs, like it felt very jarring to have in the middle of totk. i never liked aoc or any hyrule warriors games so that's probably why I don't like this very much, but yeah I just didn't enjoy it very much

god I can't describe how much I hate everything abt mineru I'm sorry I just hate her bc like,, bro I hate to say it but I never connected with her character at all. every part of her in the storyline felt forced, and her connection to zelda and the sages never felt authentic. also I hate the eng voice acting like why does she talk like that 😭

her talking about draconification felt sooo forced. she said "there are stories of eating the stone to turn into an immortal dragon" like that could be a solution, then when rauru asked if they could do that, she was like "however 🤓☝️ you'll lose your sense of self and it's forbidden. I thought this would give us an answer but maybe not 😞" like BITCH IF YOU KNEW IT WAS FORBIDDEN WHY WOULD YOU SAY ANYTHING 😭😭 the way she said it, it sounded like she was reading a book and learning this information as they went, which would make sense why she brought it up but turns out it won't work. BUT SHE KNEW THE FULL THING ALREADY WHY DID SHE SAY IT LIKE THAT???? god it annoyed me so much, it was such a bad foreshadowing plot point

and honestly her entire quest confused me, bc the whole first part has a very thunder/lightning theme so I thought her power would be related to that but it wasn't at all? like how come we didn't do anything spirit related meanwhile all the other sages had areas that related to their powers, ugh it felt so dumb. lightning is already heavily associated with riju + the gerudo, so it felt weird that they themed the whole first half of mineru's quest around it too.

I hate her stupid construct. IT'S SO LAME 😭 has anyone actually enjoyed fighting with it. has it actually benefitted anyone. like be so fr rn. I hated it so much that I built a freaking airbike and just flew to the final temple without fighting any of the stuff along the way bc I refuse to be forced to do things I don't like 🫶

and then at the end of the game when her spirit leaves her construct and she dies or whatever, I was just like 😐 they tried to make it emotional but literally mineru is my worst enemy and I was cheering and applauding atp. like I could care less. her character felt, idk how to describe it, like.. cringy and self-inserty? something about it felt very off to me and so I was just never able to like her. it felt like nintendo was trying to force me to like her and I was Not about to let that happen

hang on I have other things to complain about... oh yeah the STABLE TROTTER CONDUCTOR LIKE BRO 😭😭😭 why does he sound like mario, like I actually want to punch him in the face. the rest of the band is fine tho, I like their music 🤞

hm something I'm annoyed about is how much harder it is to find the dragons now. in botw their flight pattern was more predictable, but here like istg I can never find them when I need them 😭 it's just vv inconvenient

ok I'm back back. I think that about covered all my thoughts BUT one more thing. the map is so fucking cluttered. something that was done so well with botw was the openness of everything, it really fit the vibes and it immersed you in the expanse of the game. but the totk map was WAYY too busy 😭😭 not only with the purah pad map (which btw I still think sheikah slate is a better name) but just in general when you're walking around hyrule. there is Too Much going on and I don't like it

LAST THING although tbh this could be a whole separate rant. the way the purah pad is compatible with zonai technology makes no fucking sense???? like there is NO logical explanation for how it can mark waypoints at zonai shrines

in botw it made sense, because the shrines were sheikah-made and so was the slate, so ofc the sheikah would have built them to be compatible and programmable with one another. but the zonai shrines??? first of all they're just rocks on sand. no sort of technology the purah pad can latch onto. second, you activate the shrine with the ZONAI ARM, not the purah pad. literally no connection is made. this is such a small thing to fixate on but every time I think about it I am filled with inexplicable rage

I have a whole OTHER rant on why the sheikah tech disappearing makes literally No Sense but. this post is long enough as it is. if u want I can make a separate post but I think this is good enough for now 🤗

*pulls out a power point presentation* Hi there! Today allow me to give you 3 top reasons why you should pull for Xiaoyun!

1. Xiaoyun is a good support for Xiao!

As you have said in an old post, you are a Xiao main and he has been sadly being underused (from what i see). Xiaoyun is to be said a good support for Xiao, so people will start using him more with Xiaoyun buffing him. So wouldnt you want your dear boy to have someone to give him good support? Xiaoyun is a good old friend of his and wouldnt you want to have Xiao have a friend fighthing by his side just like back when he was still with the other Five Yakshas when they were alive? Your Xiao would definitely like it (although he would probably be a bit of a tsuntsun at first)

2. Let Xiaoyun fight alongside her daughters! (Also her friends but were focusing on the family aspect first!)

While idk if you have Shenhe and Ganyu but wouldnt it be cute to have the adepti family together? Imagine Xiaoyun fighthing side by side with her daughters as they take down any foe that comes their way! With Shenhe buffing Ganyu and Xiaoyun buffing Xiao, the four of them would be unstoppable! Dont you want to have Xiaoyun see how much her daughters have grown stronger? I think she would be pretty proud of herself but that cant happen if you dont get her yk? Also lets not forget about Zhongli and Yaoyao! If Zhongli joins the team, im sure he will be reminded that he does have someone to share osmanthus wine with, even if everyone is not here. And dont you remember that Xiaoyun had taken such a liking to Yaoyao that she made Yuegui just for her, im sure Xiaoyun will be happy that Yuegui is working as intended!

3. The Mama Xiaoyun series

We all want this and you cant deny this, just like how Kaveh have his dad series, Xiaoyun will gonna have her mama series that you said will come when she is released. You also said you need to have her voicelines and such to understand her so wouldnt it be a perfect to get her to understand her character more? We need to see more cute mama Xiaoyun and [name] posts please! Also idk if im correct but im pretty sure Xiaoyun is a better parent than Arle (please dont kill me bc i havent played the Fontaine Archon Quest yet but from what i’ve seen, Arle is too sus of a parent that i just have mixed feelings about her)

xianyun would buff my team IN GENERAL and she can be built as a healer.... which means..... if i WANTED to...... i could remove kokomi (she's mainly only there to heal my xiao during his burst) and restructure my team entirely........ AND xianyun's healing is based off of her attack....... which means she can do DamageTM and heal simultaneously.......... and her healing follows the on field character...... oughgh. it's like xianyun was designed specifically to target ME *head in hands*

i don't acually have shenhe, ganyu, or zhongli haha. only yaoyao! i was going to pull for zhongli but i don't like shielders much. they would all be so cute together though you're right fr i won't deny that

no you're right LMAOOOO arlecchino is actually a very bad father. i just like to pretend she's not 😇 i believe she DOES genuinely care about her children, but she also grooms them into being blindly loyal to her and the house of the hearth family. So. yeahhh....... xianyun is DEFINITELY a better parent than she is........

(tbh i was probably always going to pull for xianyun. i can't even lie haha--i would see her banner and i would NOT be able to resist. she's just designed perfectly for my team and i love her character. there's no telling if i would actually like arlecchino's playstyle, even if she does become playable. i would probably still pull for her, but it helps when i like the playstyle AND the character.

also, i'm glad you like the huohuo post!!!! she is very dear to me <3)
