      ercole   totally   watches   REALITY   TV   ,      both   modern   and   regular   verse.      in   regular   verse   ,      he   DOESN’T   watch   tv   very   often   ,      but   when   he   does   it’s   nothing   too   specific.      reality   tv   and   game   shows  are   his   favorite   types   tho   for   the   drama.         (      one   show   in   particular   he   liked   was   il   musichiere   !      )         in   modern   verse   ,      he   doesn’t   use   CABLE   that   much   if   at   all   ,      but   uses   streaming   services.      still   sticks   mostly   to   reality   tv   and   drama   ,      not   so   much   game   shows.

Poletto / Titanus Last Wednesday, 1 May 2019, Alessandra Panaro (1939), an Italian former film actress of the late 1950s and early 1960s, passed away. She is best known for Luchino Visconti's crime drama Rocco e i suoi fratelli/Rocco and His Brothers (1960). Alessandra Panaro was born in Rome, Italy in 1939. Panaro began her film career in 1954 with Il barcaiole di Amalfi/The boatman of Amalfi (Mino Roli, 1954) starring Mario Vitale. One of her next films was the Italian drama Gli innamorati/Wild Love (1955) directed by Mauro Bolognini. The film, starring Antonella Lualdi and Franco Interlenghi, was entered into the 1956 Cannes Film Festival. In a considerable number of romantic comedies, she played the young love interest. Examples are the big hit Poveri ma belli/Girl in a Bikini (1956) and the sequels Belle ma povere/ Poor Girl, Pretty Girl (1957) and Poveri milionari (1959). All were directed by Dino Risi and starred Marisa Allasio, Maurizio Arena, Renato Salvatori, Lorella De Luca, and Panaro. On TV she co-hosted with Lorella De Luca the show Il Musichiere/The musicians in 1957. In 1957 she also played the leading role in the comedy Lazzarella by Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia, a film based on a popular song written by Domenico Modugno and Riccardo Pazzaglia. She played Totò’s daughter in the satire Totò, Peppino e le fanatiche/Toto, Peppino and the Fanatics (Mario Mattoli, 1958) with Peppino De Filippo. And she played Nora, the girlfriend of Bruno (Mario Girotti - the future Terence Hill) in the film Cerasella (Raffaello Matarazzo, 1959) featuring Claudia Mori. Alessandra Panaro’s best-known film is the beautiful drama Rocco e i suoi fratelli/Rocco and His Brothers (Luchino Visconti, 1960). Set in Milan, it tells the story of an immigrant family from the South, led to the industrial North by the matriarch (Katina Paxinou). Presented in five distinct sections, the film weaves the story of Vincenzo (Spiros Fócas), Simone (Renato Salvatori), Rocco (Alain Delon), Ciro (Max Cartier) and Luca (Rocco Vidolazzi) as they struggle to adapt to life in the large and impersonal city of Milan. In typical fashion for a director known for helping build Italian neo-realism, the film ends with no substantive resolution, but with clouds of doom hanging over the family. Pannaro played Ciro’s fiancée Franca. Elbert Ventura at AllMovie: “Painted with bold strokes and marked by inflamed passions, Rocco and His Brothers holds you in rapt attention despite its sprawling story. She often used the more American sounding pseudonym Topsy Collins. She co-starred in peplums – the Italian sword-and-sandal adventure films - like Le Baccanti/The Bacchantes (Giorgio Ferroni, 1960) with Pierre Brice, and Ulisse contro Ercole/Ulysses Against Hercules (Mario Caiano, 1962) starring Georges Marchal. She played the beautiful virgin Queen Medea, Gordon Scott's love interest, in Ercole contro Molock/Hercules Against Moloch (Giorgio Ferroni, 1963). In Germany, she appeared in the Karl May western Der Schatz der Azteken/The Treasure of the Aztecs (Robert Siodmak, 1965) with Lex Barker. One of her last films was the spaghetti western 30 Winchester per El Diablo/30 Winchesters for El Diablo (Gianfranco Baldanello, 1965) starring Carl Möhner. After finishing her film career she returned to the screen with her old colleague Lorella de Luca in La madama (Duccio Tessari, 1976) starring Christian De Sica. And 33 years later she made one more guest appearance in an episode of the Brazilian TV series A Grande Família/The Large Family (2009). Her final screen appearance was in the Italian film La notte è piccola per noi/The Night is Small for us (Gianfrancesco Lazotti, 2016) with Cristiana Capotondi and Philippe Leroy. Panaro was married twice, first to banker Jean-Pierre Sabet who died in 1983, and then to actor Giancarlo Sbragia, who died in 1994. Alessandra Pannaro passed away in Geneva, Switzerland. She was 79. Le Kessler, Mina, La Biblioteca di Studio Uno, Il Musichiere. Certo. Ma il massimo era quel “Regia di Antonello Falqui”. Ora che se ne è andato per sempre, “per un lungo, lungo, lungo viaggio” come ha scritto su facebook, di Antonello Falqui ci torna in mente questo cartello che ci ha accompagnati da piccoli spettatori davvero per tanti anni in quel bianco e nero nebuloso prima e splendente dopo. Un cartello vecchio quanto la televisione. Perché Antonello Falqui, scomparso nella sua Roma a 94 anni, la televisione l’ha davvero fatta tutta. Dal primo giorno.

Firmando la regia di “Arrivi e partenze” con Mike Bongiorno, il primo programma di intrattenimento della Rai nel 1954, mentre Vito Molinari firmava la prima ripresa di quel giorno con l’inaugurazione delle programmazioni della Rai. Sua la regia di programmi meravigliosi dei primi anni della Rai, “Il Musichiere” presentato da Mario Riva (1958-59-60), “Canzonissima” (1958-59-68-69), “Studio Uno” (1962) che fu il primo programma all’americana della Rai, il geniale “La Biblioteca di Studio Uno” (1964), operette e zibaldoni ispirati ai grandi classici della letteratura come I tre moschettieri o l’Odissea intepretati dal Quartetto cetra e dai grandi attori del tempo, lo “Studio Uno” con Lelio Luttazzi (1966), “Milleluci” (1974), “Dove sta Zazà” con Gabriella Ferri e Pippo Franco, “Bambole non c’è una lira!” (1977), dedicato ai grandi giorni dell’avanspettacolo con un giovanissimo Christian De Sica esordiente.

Meticoloso, inventivo, capace di provare e riprovare coreografie e movimenti di macchina, si disse di una furiosa lite fra lui e le Kessler scatenata dalla sua pignoleria, e di uno scontro epocale con Patty Pravo a “Canzonissima”, Antonello Falqui si inventa, assieme a Vito Molinari, gran parte degli show della Rai, cioè della tv italiana, e cura con una precisione da grande regista delle stelle di prima grandezza come Mina o le stesse Kessler da mettere nei sabato sera degli italiani. Non è mai solo un metteur en scene.

Nato a Roma nel 1925, figlio di un critico, studio regia al Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia nel primissimo Dopoguerra pensando magari al Neorealismo di Roberto Rossellini. Nel cinema mette piede solo come aiuto regista di Curzio Malaparte in Cristo proibito con Raf Vallone. Già nel 1952, a 27 anni, ha lasciato il cinema e è a Milano a lavorare da regista per la prima tv sperimentale. Il suo vero esordio è appunto per “Arrivi e partenze” nel 1954, ma è con “Il Musichiere”, scritto da Garinei&Giovannini, presto seguito da “Canzonissima”, che capisce veramente che il varietà è il suo mestiere.

Grande regista da studio negli anni ’60, si permette divagazioni con il teatro filmato, “Felicita Colombo” con Franca Valeri e Gino Bramieri, “Addio Giovinezza” con Nino Castelnuovo e Gigliola Cinquetti, o con il quasi film “Giandomenico Fracchia” con Paolo Villaggio. Mentre impazza il ’68 e tutto quello che ne consegue, Falqui si chiude addirittura nell’operetta, “La vedova allegra” con Johnny Dorelli e Catherine Spaak, che il sabato sera prende il posto dei suoi grandi spettacoli o negli show da vecchioni, come “Speciali per noi”, parodia di “Speciale per voi”, con il trio Aldo Fabrizi-Ave Ninchi-Paolo Panelli. Ma sono suoi anche i meravigliosi “Stasera con…”, incontri musicali con Patty Pravo, Gianni Morandi, Gina Lollobrigida, Adriano Celentano.

Grande appassionato di varietà e di avanspettacolo, se lo reinventa negli anni ’70 con “Dove sta Zazà” e “Mazzabubù” con Gabriella Ferri e i comici del Bagaglino, danod il via a una rivisitazione del periodo che durerà fino a oggi e che lui stesso proseguirà con il geniale “Bambole non c’è una lira” e “Giochiamo al varietà”.

Negli anni ’80 firma la regia di piccoli programmi sperimentali con nuovi comici come “Cinema, che follia!” con Daniele Formica, Sergio Rubini, Margherita Buy, ma anche dello spettacolone del Sistina “I 7 re di Roma” con Gigi Proietti scritto da Luigi Magni. I suoi ultimi spettacoli sono i concertoni di Pavarotti nei primissimi anni ’90. Ha insegnato all’Accademia di Macerata e è sempre stato molto disponibile con tutti nel ricordare gli anni della sua grande televisione. Ma la storia presunta con Mina sarà stata vera?

A 94 anni è scomparso Antonello Falqui, ideatore di tanti programmi televisivi del passato. Il Musichiere, Canzonissima, Teatro 10, Milleluci, Studio Uno, Dove Sta Zazà: Antonello Falqui è stato il Varietà, quello che molti ricordano con malinconia, una tv gentile, garbata e “colorata” (malgrado il bianco e nero).

Parodia del programa musical de concurso Il Musichiere , Donde su presentador Patrick Star  haciendo estupideces artisticos o mas bien, presentando a concusantes comoinvitados. En el primero,  da la partida ante unos participantes (Srta  Travesti vs Lin), el escudo que lleva Patrick es de un indodoro Un Squirdward feo como director de orquesta, usando como una batuta la varita que usa Sakura, Aleu arfimando las partituras. Moe como una modelo estlo años 50. En el segundo,  Patrick Star, en esa imagen, fumando un habano en compañía de La Caballera o Lady Kayley. En esta ocasión, Luciano Bello estrena una canción, que pronto estaría en los "Hot 100 de Billboard' , afirman las partituras, Scamp para el piano y Aleu para el director de Orquesta. Programa animado musical, auspiciado por RCA y Coca Cola y grabado en el estudio Auditorio A de los estudios de Lira 46. Las cámaras son modelo Marconi MK III, y en esa serie, realmente a 2D, animada mente, en " Vídeo Tape" Originalmente, basado en el  Il Musichiere,  fue un programa de juegos italiano basado en Name That Tune. Funcionó de 1957 a 1960 y terminó con la muerte prematura de su anfitrión Mario Riva. Se ejecutó durante 90 episodios, que se transmiten los sábados por la noche durante el horario de máxima audiencia. Fue dirigido por Antonello Falqui.

Transatlantic Teutonic Two Step Take 79 - Italo Flexi Special [May 15th 2019]

During the burgeoning Italian pop scene in the late 1950s, flexi-discs where given away as a promotion for pretty much anything you can imagine: Cheese makers, floor wax producers, toothpaste and calamine lotion companies: pretty much everybody was competing for the ever dwindling attention of consumers, with Easter colored flexi-discs. I found a huge pile of these discs in a Florence record shop, about a 5 minute walk from the river Arno.

After listening and doing some poking around on the internet, it seems the whole Italian flexi-discs giveaway phenomenon took place mostly between 1959 and 1961. Companies would often release a series of discs in tandem with legit records labels: Cera Grey, an Italian brand of floor wax released a series of records along side Rifi Record Company S.p.A.. Other companies put out similar such series: German Toothpaste Chlorodont producer with Red Records, Italian cheese makers Invernizzi teamed up with the Milan label Cellograf-Simp, puzzle magazine Nuova Enigmistica Tascabile with labels Maryland Record and RI-FI Record, and so on. The released records were typically single track, single sided, containing contemporary hits: Italian, English pop songs, public domain tracks or Italian language versions version of well known tunes.

As I mentioned before, the concept of giving away a flexi disc took place primarily between 1959 and 1961. It's likely that by the beginning of the 1960s, vinyl 45s were cheap enough to produce and in some cases superseded flex-discs as a free giveaway.
