Farkas could already smell the wolf in them.  It was the scent of blood and leaves, thick and heady, and the urge to join them rose stronger than he'd ever known it.  But he shook his head when Ilessa asked, "Will you join us?"

Vilkas made a low noise and shoved his chair away too before storming out the back door, and Aela and Ilessa marched out the front, closing it hard enough that Tilma yelled up at them from the basement. Torvar snorted into his ale and jammed his elbow into Athis's side.  "Looks like we need another brawl to clear this up."

"Or two," Athis replied.

Farkas ignored them and followed his brother outside.  The sky was dark but Masser was massive and red between the clouds,

Something so that she didn't have to stay with our uncle. But then, well, I had no reason to stay, so I got the hell out of there."

Vyx winced, like he'd forgotten, what Quinn'd told him. "I'm sorry," he said.

"Don't be. It wasn't- it wasn't the worst, being in the army."

He's not telling the truth, and they both know it.

Valirani culture: beliefs and ethics

The Valirani mareisa (roughly ’belief system’, but with more subtle connotations) is difficult to define in Western terms. While mythology abounds (most notably in al-nakvarisi zima, the seven core scriptures), the Valiri seem to have relatively little in the way of concrete metaphysics. What they do have is a clear idea of the meaning of life: it is to be enjoyed, albeit in a highly principled fashion (how the Valirani ideal of balanced hedonism actually plays out will be detailed in a later post). The development of their code of ethics is recorded in the Books of the Sages, which serve to codify and elaborate on the values below.

Note that most of the words glossed here are actually verbs rather than nouns; the Valiri consider their values to be conscious actions (or traits in action), not static abstractions.

The Valirani Creed (al-mrayal):

asilayad (asilede, asilyedda; from root L-Y-D ‘beautiful’) - orientation toward beauty: the pursuit of beauty and joy (layad, lede, lyedda) in all things.

ural (urale, urella; root W-R-L) - balance, equitability: thinking of others as much as oneself.

kaleisa (kaleise; from root K-L-Y ‘nurture’) - universal nurturance: working actively so that all may be able to enjoy life.

hivtar (hivtare, hivterra; from root V-T-R ‘healthy, whole’) - healing: becoming more whole and thus increasing one’s capacity for happiness.

navat (navte, nvetta, envat; root N-V-T) - release, liberation: achieving freedom from all that prevents us from being fully alive.

My crew is as follows: 

Warden Valynne Surana, the ex-Circle Mage, defender of Jowan. Loves her friends, hates the idea of duty and feels like being a Warden isn’t as much of a freedom from the circle as she’d hoped. A lot more prone to humor and wit than any of my players. Always gotta romance Zevran. 

Marian Hawke, mage, I go the default look for her because I like it. Humorous for the most part but knows when to take it up or down a notch. The middle of the three. Always gotta romance Fenris. 

Alain Lavellan, warrior, and tired, so very tired. Less of a jokester and a little more serious. Always with a level head, he’s got his wits about him. Thinks a lot more before he acts than either of his predecessors. Not here for his Herald of Andraste nonsense. He’s not interested in romance. 

Non Player Character OC too, Ilessa, half-elf. Companion OC for Inquisition, random NPC for DA2. A young kid in the latter shipped off by her remaining family after the passing of her father and mother. Saved by my Hawke and Co and lives in the estate. Doesn’t talk much and is very small, garnering her the nickname Mouse. Likes to play cardgames with the dog and Sandal. Little made up card game with no rhyme or rule. Though it turns out she’s quite the Wicked Grace player. Inquisition sees her trying to be friends with Cole. (You’ll find her in the stables, she likes to talk to and take care of the mounts).

Dragon Age Inquisition is hardest to get through because like despite the fact it looks gorgeous there’s a million things to do and I only actually care about 2 of my companions.

Origins is like we’re a really strange found family. Dragon Age 2 is like half of these people may or may not actually be friends they only know eachother through the main mutual friend. And then Inquisition feels like...going to get drinks with coworkers once after work because why the hell not but you don’t actually want to be around any of these people someone else just offered to pay for your beers.

Sionnach "Ilessa" Frostfang, a witch who left her family in the Reach to find a cure for lycanthropy when her brother was forced to become a werewolf against his will After the Glenmoril Wyrd agree to help her brother he moves to Evermore and Ilessa becomes a wyress in a Wyrd coven not far from the city.

Faliyendhel the Fox, a former Vinedusk Ranger who left the group to return to following the Green Pact. She lives a rather nomadic life traveling all over Valenwood only staying in one place for a few weeks at most, living off hunting and occasional work done for people in any settlements she passes through.
