I'm sorry if this is rude, and you totally don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but i'm curious - why in the world are you using the name "flower of Laurelin" for a as far as i can tell 100% mcyt art blog? Like, no judgement or anything, but it just genuinely throws me for a loop every single time lmao

So I made this blog back in 2018? I think? And I had every intention of making it a Silmarillion blog. I made a lot of Silm art just for me while I was a teenager and I actually still make Silm art for school projects! I called myself Flower of Laurelin because Arien, the Maia who carries the sun, is my favourite character in the whole Tolkienverse. (She has one whole paragraph talking about her.)

Also in 2018, both The Dragon Prince and She Ra and the Princesses of Power started airing on Netflix and took over my whole brain and I instead started painting fanart for those two shows and posting it here, and they were all fairly popular paintings. This was during the gap year I took before heading to university in 2019 and it really helped me develop my art style! I realized that since my style is more like realism I could adapt cartoons in a really fun and fresh way. And I was always like oh well I’ll get to the Silmarillion stuff soon… And then I went to university and did Illustration projects on the Silmarillion, as I’d always planned to do, and I completely forgot my Tumblr art blog, which was very infrequently posted to until 2021.

Then when I was in university I started getting excited about Minecraft’s updates because I hadn’t played since 1.13 and cool things were coming up and so I typed “Minecraft” into YouTube and found Pixlriffs’ Survival Guide. And then I got into Hermitcraft bc Mumbo and Iskall would show up in the recommended. And then Pix joined Empires I got into the whole Empires crew, and by then I was getting burnt out of never making art just for me and only for assignments and I took an hour out to sketch the Copper King during class, which I posted, and people liked it! And Pixlriffs himself emailed me that same day to say how much he liked it! And then I was like okay well there’s a niche here—there’s little more cartoony than a Minecraft skin so my style would work great here, and wow it turns out there are a lot of people into this too! A lot of other awesome artists! And my work got more and more attention until I got to work with the CCs on their series and now I’m a mcyt blog.

TLDR; I was supposed to be a Silmarillion blog because I used to make a lot of Silmarillion art, but in the time since making my URL I ended up getting into other fandoms instead by accident! And now I’m a mcyt blog even though I’ve kept my original URL because I like it a lot 😋

I’m also inspired by Tyler Koberstein’s work.

Tyler Koberstein is a Prop/FX Designer at Nickelodeon on The Loud House. 
Born and raised in Macomb, Michigan, he attended the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, Michigan. There he majored in Entertainment Arts and Minored in Illustration. After graduation he stayed exclusively at Nickelodeon starting off as the Fall 2019 Production Intern on The Casagrandes and then going on to become a prop designer for The Loud House.

Tyler’s work is in the forefront of animation industry and I feel this is because of his ability to make props feel realistic even though they won’t work in real life.

As an animator you have to design elements in your work that feel like they can exist in the work you’re creating and Tyler’s work is a great example of it. He has a certain approach of doing it which is creating a certain shape language, having a strong sense of perspective and including elements from day to day life that makes his work believable.

A judge from Florida, U.S., has determined that there is “reasonable evidence” indicating that Tesla CEO Elon Musk and other executives were aware of a defect in the Autopilot system but still permitted the vehicles to be driven in an unsafe manner.

This information was revealed through a recent ruling in the Circuit Court for Palm Beach County. The judge’s decision allows the plaintiff in a lawsuit related to a fatal crash involving a Tesla Model 3 to proceed to trial and pursue punitive damages against Tesla for intentional misconduct and gross negligence.

The ruling raises concerns for Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk, especially after the company previously won two product liability trials in California this year regarding the Autopilot system. The lawsuit stems from a 2019 crash near Miami in which a Tesla Model 3 drove beneath the trailer of a big rig, resulting in a fatality.

The judge highlighted “alarming inconsistencies” between Tesla’s internal knowledge and its public statements, suggesting potential challenges for the company in a public trial.

The judge also found evidence supporting the plaintiff’s argument that Tesla engaged in a marketing strategy presenting its products as autonomous and that Musk’s statements about the technology significantly influenced public beliefs about the products’ capabilities.

The court officials noted similarities between the 2019 crash and a 2016 fatal incident involving Autopilot failure.

Tesla rolled out its own car insurance program a bit more than four years ago, with promises of affordability and superior service. This business move was intended as a response to declining sales due to high premium margins. But apparently, this idea – at least in its practical real-world shape – did not play out well.

According to an article recently published by Reuters, now Tesla car insurance customers claim they are facing challenges with understaffed support, having to endure lengthy waits for compensation while still managing payments on damaged vehicles which is otherwise not an issue with reputable insurance companies.

According to the testimonies of some Tesla insurance customers, the purchased Tesla Insurance coverage is nowhere near to paying the compensation, with delays sometimes extending up to seven months and more – even when the crash itself is related to the faults in Tesla’s cars.

Frustrating customer experiences highlight concerns over the effectiveness of Tesla’s car insurance service, launched in 2019. While Elon Musk touted improved customer support, the company has faced criticism for delays and difficulties in processing claims.

The number of dissatisfied customers of Tesla Insurance is growing, as evidenced by numerous complaints on social media and other online platforms. Most of them have voiced grievances about prolonged waiting periods for payouts and repairs, coupled with challenges in reaching claims adjusters.

Tesla’s introduction of its insurance service aimed to address a specific issue: potential customers walking away from vehicle purchases due to exorbitant insurance quotes tied to the high collision-repair costs of electric vehicles.

Despite the company’s pledge to revolutionize car insurance, Tesla Insurance has faced operational challenges, including periods of resource constraints, with approximately a dozen adjusters attempting to handle a flood of claims.

The insurer’s struggles align with a broader pattern of hurried and haphazard management across Elon Musk’s conglomerate of technology and manufacturing companies.
