it's disability pride month! disability is broader than most people think, it can be physical, mental, visible, or invisible. i'm disabled invisibly, and have struggled with shame about that fact for years. both psychiatric illness and neurodivergence have shaped my life, and it's been alienating to feel held back or like i've failed. but the truth is that i am a success, i have survived and thrived to the best of my ability, and i'm proud of what i've accomplished and who i've become.

🌱What is one thing about the world you’ve come to appreciate?

The beauty of it, and those who live in it. While this is a recent thing, Ral's frequently catching herself simply standing someone up high and just... Watching. Be it the people, nature, the sunrise and sunset, the tides and how the waves roll across the sea... She can't help but find a certain beauty in it all she's never taken time to stop and look for in her incedibly long lifetime. The people of this world especially are strong, amazing people who remind her of her own home, and their undying desire to survive and thrive, their willingness to keep moving forward, never fails to blow her away just as much as the world they live in, with its stunning views and own determination to live.

She can understand now why some people sit and watch the sun rise in the mornings, and why they enjoy being out and about - It's a freeing, wonderful feeling she'd completely forgotten about, and will eternally be thankful to her current situation for reminding her of everything outside her heartache and isolation.

💗Is there one mortal in your life you will never forget?

Kinich. Her mate, her love, her partner and her best friend, he is everything to her and the one who looked past her title of Guardian to offer a hand to Ralphina. Though technically a Chimera the same as her, there's far more humanity and mortality in him, and that terrifies her - Ral knows in what feels like the blink of her eye, she'll once more be alone and without him, and she struggles heavily with that at current, knowing when his mortality reaches its end, she won't know how to keep moving forward despite learning how to on her own through him. He is mortal... And that's a nightmare that won't leave her, selfish as she's deemed it to be.

And yet even knowing that, Kinich is someone who she'll never be able to forget, and not just because his mating mark sits on the inside of her wrist. For a human who's been through trauma none should have to live through, he holds a bravery and a determination to keep moving that often floors her, fighting to keep his eyes on the future and not on the past. He's taken his ancient name and used it as fuel to take step after step and honed himself into the warrior and man he's become, putting all that's happened to him behind him the best he can to be the best he can be.

Kinich is Kinich, and Ralphina will never, ever forget the man whoi picked himself up and decided he would be more than what happened to him, and succeeded.

Constantly. For quite a long time, Ralphina took her down time to search out ways to finally attain a permenant end - One that would ensure the next time she returned to ash, she wouldn't reform. Her millions on millions of years of life have worn her down to her core; she's long since lost the desire to see another day, craving her death to escape the heartache and pain of a life so long, or the guilt and pain she's been chained to for as long as she can remember. Immortality is a curse, and she has wanted it broken - Let her finally rest, like she deserved from the day her clan was killed.

(Un)Fortunately, nothing worked. She still woke every morning, still had to work, still had to deal with the chains holding her just out of reach of the flames demanding the chance to consume her. Every time she was 'killed' and turned to ashes like the Fenix she was tied to, she still reformed and still woke once more, forced into another cycle of endless days until the next time she 'died', even though it was never a rest. She can feel the flames at her back, demanding, pleading with Lunaria to have her, and yet the same chains that prevented her from moving forward in any form also kept her from turning and throwing herself into it.

She has spent what feels like an eternity trapped in place with no way out, tired of seeing the sun rise time and time again, especially given how many worlds she's seen fall, and how many she's seen rise in their place, just to repeat the cycle some time later over and over again. Immortality is never a blessing, Ralphina's decided. At least for her, this is a never-ending cycle of agony, and she's wanted out of it for longer than she cares to remember, no matter how much she believes that at the same time? This 'punishment' is well deserved for the role she and her clan had in the downfall of her original world.

However, this desire has started to fade with the help of Kinich, who stubbornly refused to move away from her and continued to offer a hand until she finally decided to take it. Surprisingly gentle, he's shown her how to move forward away from the flames and agony, and loosened her chains enough to get her on her own two feet - She would still give near everything to be mortal again, but no longer does she crave the release of death. She is determined to find a way to join Kinich in his should/when that time comes, but until then... She now wants to see tomorrow. She wants to wake up beside him, and she wants to live, learning to live for herself and walk forward on her own, and slowly come to terms with the heartbreak and pain that has shaken her ever since Halcyon.

She deserves her punnishment, but she also deserves all she's gained beside her mate, and has now learned how to hold her head high, even if the pain will never fully go away.

I wonder how intentional this is. I don't know enough about what Lisa knows with her power to be like "she knows Taylor is desperately lonely and would probably bite down hard on any hook that came with a promise of camaraderie," but I'll admit the thought's occurred to me.
