ok but saucy thoughts aside im talkin bout talon assistant reader genuinely being cute and silly with her agents:
Moira more often than not lets you eat your lunch in her lab provided that none of it comes in contact with her projects. She was hyper focused - her perfectly manicured nails holding still a tawny brown ball of fur, adorned with a baby pink button nose that sniffled the air hesitantly. You’d practically squealed when she raised a needle to the poor thing, and she quirked a brow when you hurried over to clutch the animal to your chest.
Moira appeared unimpressed with you. Her angular chin upturned as she peered down at you, baby talking the rabbit she had planned to test on. You looked up at her with eyes big and watery enough to rival the little creatures, and she sighed dramatically. The geneticist had a feeling that wrangling the critter out of your arms wouldn’t be so easy now that you’d seen what plans she had for it.
So that is how Lucky came to be. Despite Moira’s cold disposition, she enjoyed your company, and would like you to continue body doubling with her whilst she worked. The only way not to send you fleeing from her lab in tears, clutching the rabbit to your chest, was to keep it around. It has its own little space laden with toys and plush surfaces - a rather spoiled little animal.
Moira allowed the rabbit to stay, under the one condition that she name it. She’ll never tell you why, but she named the little guy Lucky because not only was he ‘lucky’ to avoid her experiments that day - he also gives you more excuses to come into her lab - and she feels ever so lucky for it.
Sombra finds unique methods to get your attention. She lurks around the base almost as well as Gabe does, but she’s not necessarily doing it to be broody. She can get greedy with your attention, so she finds ways to lure you off base so that she can have you all to herself for a little bit.
Sombra often hacks into Akande’s email to send you on faux errand runs, just for little things like coffee where she can swoop in for some quality time. And don’t worry, she pays for the dates and ensures you’re back on base by the time your break is finished.
Sombra also leaves little gifts where she thinks you might find them. Although, they’re never really that little. You’re always taken aback by new, expensive top-range electronics laden in purple ribbon on your desk. You know who leaves them, because they’re backed up with the best firewalls around and the display has a tiny purple skull on it.
Sometimes she just straight deposits thousands into your account. As a treat. Sombra only rolls her eyes when you try to decline the amount, flustered and telling her that it’s ’way too much’ but she honestly couldn’t care less. She’s perfectly able to spoil you and that’s exactly what she’ll do.
Reaper likes to play off that he doesn’t enjoy your company (he’s coping) but he’s also always skulking wherever you’ve been. You’re a bit of a yapper, especially when it’s early mornings in the Talon communal area, so he likes to sit and listen to you. If you stagger whilst talking because you think he isn’t listening, he’ll give you a stare so hard that you swear you can feel it through his mask. So you keep talking and his shoulders sag with contentment once more. (He now knows every single type of coffee you like, and you should expect a mysterious package of literally all of them in the kitchen next week.)
He’s a grump, and sulked for an entire week when you once changed your perfume. Reaper even went to lengths to shadow-step into your room to throw the new one out and replace it with a fresh bottle of your old one. It wasn’t cheap, but as long as you keep using it, he’s happy to buy them for you.
He’s also happy to scare off any of the overconfident Talon grunts who think you’re easy pickings. In fact, I’d say he takes great pleasure in showing those idiots who the pretty secretary belongs to. (He’s been doing this behind your back because he’s too edgy and emo to approach you directly and would rather trail you in the corridors like some sort of creep, but he means well.)
Reaper gets a little jealous over your attention from time to time, but with help from his unorthodox teammates (and you) he learns to share.
Amelie is slower to approach, but she’s all the more meaningful when she does. She may not be able to feel, but she more than just tolerates your company. She finds herself inviting you over for bottles of wine more often, showing you her manor and her dear guard hounds who’ve come to be much too gentle under your affections. Yet, she can’t find it in herself to blame you.
You show her simplicity in a blank and cold world - and soon enough her manor grows less full of cobwebs and vines, instead beaming with sunlight and the tiny succulents you’d gifted her with. You won’t replace Gerard, but Amelie still lets you dust off the weathered picture frames as if you’d been married together in this old house for years.
You help manage her hair, winding long and silky strands between your fingers, brushing against the elegant slope of her back. She welcomes your touch, despite the warm and cold contrast of your skin on hers.
Amelie craves the casual and domestic intimacy you provide her. She introduces you to self defence and gun wielding so you can take care of yourself without her, and you introduce her to reality tv and an absurd collection of coffee mugs. She would not take it any other way.
Sigma’s musings start small when he hears you humming a certain tune one day. It’s catchy, likely a pop song you’d heard on the radio whilst on your way to work, or maybe it was a song you’d been blasting in your bedroom the night before? He’d found himself picking up on it, unable to shake it until he’s humming it himself.
Eventually when you sit down with him for tea, he questions you about it, yet when you tell him the name of the song and he listens to it, he doesn’t necessarily feel the same pull.
The next week, when you’re passing by his lab in a hurry, heels clacking against the glossy wooden floor and papers flying in a trail behind you, he catches you humming another song. Another tune. He smiles softly to himself, picking up the documents you’d left behind.
Sigma realises then that the song wasn’t necessarily catchy enough to stick with him. He’d only picked them up because they reminded him of you.
Mauga is always excited to have you around. Sometimes he can be a bit much, but with two hearts he’s bound to have twice your energy. So that’s why he absolutely insists that you sit on his back whilst he does pushups. No matter what you weigh he’s not gonna break a sweat, so you might as-well relax on his back while he works out, instead of wasting precious quality time you could have together.
He’d suggested that you sit on other things too, but you’d smacked his bicep hard enough that the muscle rippled and he got the message to behave. You were still sore from the last time he said that.
Mauga also is a big cuddler, meaning, if you’re doing something he doesn’t deem as important, you’re being quite literally swept off your feet and dumped onto a soft surface like a wet kitten. Where he then hauls you onto his chest and squishes your face into his bicep, unfortunately for you, two hearts means he runs WARM. And you’re out like a light in less than 10. Smug bastard.
Big dude loves to show you off, too. Takes you back to some of his old haunts (pays for all of your drinks) and puts a song he knows you like on the jukebox. Sure, the night ends in a bar fight, a back-alley fuck and the worst take out you’ve had in your life, but would you have it any other way? Absolutely-fuckin-not.
And finally, the big boss of them all, Akande. Who’s satisfied with the knowledge that each of his subordinates treat you well and good, but knows he holds the ultimate claim. He holds the golden chain of your leash.
He treats you softly, like a well pampered pet all trussed up in the finest materials around. But it’s not always money with him. Sure, Akande has it, and he’s gonna flaunt it, maybe stuff a few bills in your panties when you least expect it but he also knows you’re not just a pretty face. Both he and his top agents have become adjusted to you in their lives, morale is high, people have improved.
You’re here to stay, and it’s only locked into place when he awakes one morning, your legs are tangled underneath satin sheets, and you’re drooling on his bare chest. He laughs - a deep rumble that shakes his chest and has you groaning at him to stop moving in a sweet, sleep addled mumble. You even give him a little kick under the covers.
Akande makes sure you’ll never want nor need again, and he’s sure that his team feel the same way about this odd, sweet assistant that stumbled into their lives.

is there seriously nowhere to buy textbooks in person anymore for vic uni?? wow that really is horrible. fuck all the "protestors" and their lingering sentiment. what's your opinion on vic uni as it stands now? i've heard from a lot of people that in recent years it has changed (in a negative way), and even tho the uni wasn't responsible for the protestors, i heard from some people that they weren't so keen on the uni in the aftermath. whether it was due to the proximity to parliament or i also heard the uni's response towards students was basically "tough luck" when their finances and studies were impacted due to the "protestors"
yeah we got emails and the response was straight up "nothing we can do, avoid coming in if you feel threatened" which was like. yeah?? we feel threatened? 12-18 yr old girls at the local high school had to add like 20/30 mins to their commute because if they went past the protests they would be harassed. my 19 yr old coworker was reduced to tears by a man screaming at her at the train station about her mask. she had to come into work using uber to avoid it happening again. she lived over an hour away, it was NOT cheap.
i walked past or through the protestors a lot because i had to go in that way to study, home was too busy and our internet was spotty. i had to get very used to ignoring the shouting. but the public were at boiling point by the end assaults/harassment of the general public had gone up, local businesses being invaded happened more and suddenly people were driving past the protestors throwing milkshakes or yelling at them, which only made them more aggressive.
as for whats up at vic im not sure im the best person to ask. i dont pay attention to too many of the changes and rarely participate in clubs (i did help with classical theater and uniq in my first 2 years)
what i can say is the million dollars spent on the new science centre was useless, as the reason the science department needed a new building was because their lecture halls and labs were too small. the buildings rooms are the exact same size as they were in the other building. so the science faculty are fucked if they want anything for the next decade because "oh well you just got a new building." i dont know why theyve bought that massive bloody abandoned building down the hill and dont see how paying for its destruction is going to help with costs, god knows what they plan on putting there. at least first years will stop breaking in and cutting themselves on broken glass and nails/falling through broken flooring.
i adore pretty much all but one or two lecturers ive had at vic, the good ones are exceptionally good and make attending class a joy. and because nz is so small they know everyone in their subject worth knowing and are happy to make connections with them possible which is a lifesaver. also as someone who restarted their degree cos health problems + changed subjects ive had a LOT of lecturers from psych to classics to media studies to polsci. my main problem is the problem is the treatment of lecturers.
a close friend of mine from high school works as a tutor there and as much as he adores it, every time hes ever gotten his paycheck its because his union pressed vic to send it on time. recently theres been protests by staff for better pay, which i fully support, i even attended some protests because quite frankly for the experience, knowledge and ties these people have they are paid a pittance.
as for the book stores, we have multiple bookstores here but most are secondhand. the ones that arent dont stock textbooks, because the dedicated textbook place for 50+ years has been vicbooks. i dont know who it will fall to. unitybooks maybe? or we'll just have to order online like i said before.
but with the protests, people likely got turned off heading to vic because, ultimately, parliaments down the hill from from it. literally you just gotta walk up the terrace, turn right and then walk another 5 minutes. takes 20 minutes if youre fit enough. getting into uni was near impossible for most people because you had to go through or past the protest camp to get there (unless you were lucky enough to live on the other side of the city and go up the terrace the other side). also, because the main city train station and main city bus station are/were on the other side of the camp, it made confrontation if you used those modes of transport unavoidable.
ultimately the protest is not vics fault, not by a mile. if i were to blame anyone it would be 1. the protestors themselves 2. the police, who, when i walked past on day one, had only sent a cop car and 3 cops to watch over the situation, which is how they managed to pitch all the tents/blockade the traffic/take as much ground as they did. police were woefully, woefully unprepared. 3rd blame goes to the tow companies who all refused to remove the vehicles blocking the street because they were sympathetic to the group that were spraying nazi symbols on the war monument and calling for execution of our politicians. fuck them.
honestly im just glad that its over, even a year on. my dad was coming home when the fighting broke out and he could see them throwing bricks and starting fires a street away and the riot police bearing down on them and using hose. it was incredibly unnerving to watch, esp as i had friends and family working in the buildings around there.

With Hunter Biden on a serious image rehabilitation tour - a 'tell all' book combined with television interviews from friendly outlets designed to invoke pity over the First Son's crack and hooker habits, the Daily Mail is now telling the rest of the story regarding the contents of his abandoned laptop after Hunter admitted it 'certainly' could be his in a Sunday interview with CBS.
If you've seen the laptop photos which leaked last October, you can probably stop here. The Mail did spare us from blurred pictures of Hunter's wang, along with several sex tapes released by exiled Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui.
After obtaining a copy of the hard drive, DailyMail.com commissioned top cyber forensics experts Maryman & Associates to analyze its data and determine whether the laptop's contents were real.
The firm's founder, Brad Maryman, is a 29-year FBI veteran Supervisory Special Agent who served as an Information Security Officer and founded its first computer forensics lab. -Daily Mail
The Mail obtained over 100,000 text messages, 154,000 emails and over 2,000 photos which were verified by top forensics experts, which reveal that Joe 'became a punching bag for Hunter's drug-fueled rants,' and 'paid his grandchildren's bills when Hunter had drained his bank accounts with prostitutes and crack cocaine.'
Hunter appeared to be obsessed with making and starring in porn films with prostitutes, videos and photos on his laptop show.
The hard drive contains hundreds of pictures of naked women and naked selfies of Hunter, as well as dozens of videos.
Hunter photographed and filmed himself, often with two prostitutes at a time, in explicit videos that he then posted on adult website Pornhub under the username 'RHEast'.
Hunter filmed himself with the women from his laptop webcam, sometimes shooting at different angles using an iPad and cell phone. -Daily Mail
The Mail also promises to release more Hunter laptop drops:
Hunter's laptop is a pandora's box of shocking revelations, explicit photos and intimate communications. In the following days, DailyMail.com will publish more shocking stories from Hunter's laptop, including:
How Hunter blew hundreds of thousands on prostitutes, drugs and luxury cars, leaving him scrambling to avoid jail for $320k in unpaid taxes
How five members of the Biden family have been to rehab for drug or alcohol abuse – and a stunning admission by Joe to his son
The OTHER Biden family member planning to buy and cook crack, after falling into the disastrous addiction with Hunter
Hunter's unconventional and unlikely relationship with his well-known psychiatrist
The whispered bedroom conversation with a prostitute caught on Hunter's webcam, in which he confesses he had a previous laptop stolen – by Russians for blackmail
The president's son left his 2017 MacBook Pro laptop at a Wilmington, Delaware computer repair shop in April 2019 and never returned for it.
In one text exchange between Joe and Hunter, Joe wrote "Good morning my beautiful son. I miss you and love you. Dad." To which a petulant Hunter raged at his father for "having made clear to the world that the only reason for not [running for president is your] family problems im glad to be the f***ing bullseye you painted on my back."
In another exchange, Hunter complained that Joe's advice not to defend himself publicly during his expensive divorce with ex-wife Kathleen Biden, or his affair with his brother's widow Hallie, had backfired.
"Your team just made me the uncontrollable troubled tax cheat philanderer sex and drug addict that you tried so hard to fix but couldn't yt. They just totally wrote my life away," Hunter wrote, adding "If you dont run [for president] ill never have a chance at redemption."
Joe replied with a promise to run, though hinted that maybe Hunter should probably stop getting so dramatic over texts due to them being a target.
"I'll run but I need you,' he wrote. 'H[allie] is wrong. Only focus is recovery. Nothing else... When you can and feel like it call. Positive my text etc a target. Love."
Joe Biden would announce his run for president two months later - during which Hunter's laptop contents would leak, defeating the purpose of rehabilitating the crack addict's image.
Joe would again warn Hunter not to spill his life story over text, writing "Be careful what you text. Likely I'm being hacked."
Read the rest of the report here.
And then there's this other thing Hunter failed to mention in his book or his interviews...
“Hunter Biden purchased a handgun illegally, he lied on a federal background check..” “The question is will David Chipman arrest the President’s son? If he doesn’t... how exactly are you obligated to follow these rules?” Great questions, Tucker. pic.twitter.com/mNbYAwzOHN

Want To Work From Home?
Your commute is the period of your hallway. Not these days when we are all learning how to live with the reality of coronavirus.
Jobs that allow you to work at home, an arrangement called telecommuting, are here to stay. At the most recent American Time Use Survey by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 57 percent of employees in 2018 had a flexible schedule. Additionally, 42 million wage and salary employees (29%) could work at home, and 36 million employees (25 percent ) worked at home some of the time.
Some workers would even be prepared to take a pay cut so as to work at home, according to the State of Remote Work 2019 report by Owl Labs. The research reported that 34 percent of employees would be prepared to take a 5% cut; 24% would require a 10% cut, and 20% would require a cut larger than 10%. The motives workers want to do their jobs remotely are not surprising: better work-life equilibrium (91 percent), greater productivity/better focus (79 percent), less stress (78%), and also to avoid a commute (78%).
If you are suddenly working a distant job, here are some of the potential advantages and disadvantages to be mindful of: It's a lot more than just the advantage of having to work in your pajamas. Working from home means you will learn how to rely on self-motivation, self-discipline, focus, and concentration.

Pros Provided that you are not slipping off binge Netflix, you may really be more effective when working from home. In actuality, if Giugliano operates remotely, he states it adds three hours of stress-free productivity to his day.
Additionally, you won't have the occasional annoyances of office life: interruptions, loud co-workers, chatter, et cetera. When using a quick meeting in the restroom is not possible, you've got to get up to speed on what communication tools can be found, says Fay.
Cons You may forget to clock out. While people might think working from home means doing less, the reverse could be true for diligent workers.
You can feel out of the loop. Feeling like you are always "in the office" could even lead to burnout. You may not understand it until you are not there, but there's a good deal of casual collaboration that occurs in a workplace, says Fay. Whether it's picking up on the best methods of your coworkers or using an impromptu brainstorming session over lunch, it is tough to replicate that from home.
You might not have full access to technology platforms. You may not have complete access to technology platforms. For the most part, cloud technology has made it easier than ever for remote workers to operate from anywhere. But, Fay notes that there are scenarios where information security or consumer protection issues may prevent telecommuters from getting complete access.
Co-workers might accuse you of slacking. When you work at home and can not get to a telephone or email straight away, your co-workers might not give you as much leeway as they might if you were in the office. People may wonder if you are taking it easy instead of pulling your weight.
Tips for working from home Don’t underestimate face time. Be more communicative than normal, if only to boost camaraderie. Pick up the telephone to congratulate someone after a job well done, or the conclusion of a job instead of sending an impersonal email or IM, he adds.
Even if you don't have a dedicated office, attempt to set up a workspace and make it off-limits to the rest of your home as you're working. There is nothing worse than being on a significant work call just to have the doorbell ringing, the dog barking, and the children screaming in the background, says Fay.
Get in the habit of sending a prompt reply when you receive an email, even if it's merely to say, "Got it," or, "I'll contact you by noon," says Giugliano. And, do what you can to be available for conference calls or other collaborations, even when you don't have rigorous work hours.

Residency begins
I have now completed the first six weeks of my family medicine residency and am happy to report that everything is so far, so good. I survived four weeks of internal medicine, two weeks of family medicine, and am now fortunate to get a breather with two weeks of vacation. Here’s a snapshot of the beginning of my residency:
Internal Medicine
My first rotation was internal medicine, which consisted of caring for adults in the hospital. There was one attending physician, two residents, and two medical students on the teaching service. As a first-year resident, I had a cap of five patients for whom I was responsible. Surprisingly, I met that cap for most of the month of July. I had no idea that so many cases of pneumonia occurred during the summer. Here is what a typical day looked like for me:
4:30 AM- wake up
5:30 AM- arrive at hospital, pre-round on my patients, pick up new patients
7 AM- rounds with the attending physician
9 AM- work on progress notes
10:45 AM- daily safety check
11 AM- finish notes, update patient census summaries, order morning labs
12 PMish- lunch (you eat when you can on IM, there are no scheduled breaks)
1 PMish- admissions from the ER start (again, not a defined time)
6 PMish- sign out to night resident, go directly to gym
7 PM- dinner, watch Scrubs
8 PM- catch up on email, get ready for next day
9 PM- sleep
Repeat x5
I learned a lot, but it was a pretty exhausting month. The attending hospitalist physicians worked seven 12-hour shifts in a row, and then got seven days off. The residents worked six 12-hour shifts in a row and then got one day off. The only silver lining of the intense IM schedule at my program is that there are only a handful of weekends I am on-call for the rest of the year. When you’re on IM, you just accept that you have no life outside the hospital for a month.
Sundays were the worst, because I was the only resident in the hospital with the attending physician. I was still only expected to see five patients, but what made it tough was that after rounds, EVERYTHING went to me. Questions from the nurses, outpatient calls, new admissions, etc. There was one Sunday I almost lost it. I was behind on my progress notes and trying to finish up documenting an outpatient call. Then, I had to stop to answer another outpatient call and as I was on the phone, two nurses walked up to my desk. The moment I hung up the phone, one asked if I could change a medication order for one patient. The other informed me that the Bair Hugger I had ordered for another patient because he was hypothermic could only be used in the operating room and I had to order a different warming blanket instead. I almost got up and screamed in my low, monotone voice, but instead I took a deep breath and informed the nurses that I was busy at the moment, but would take care of their requests soon.
Now, don’t get me wrong. The nurses at my hospital are actually awesome and some days they are busier than the doctors I think. There were just times that I felt overwhelmed, which is normal for anyone who is new to a job I think. I was lucky to have many people watching my back at least, including my awesome senior resident who never minded when I inundated him with questions, clinical pharmacists who double-checked all of the residents’ medication orders (which is a super good idea), and attending physicians who literally did my work for me at times when I got behind, so I wasn’t behind anymore. It was a challenging month, but I do feel like I learned a lot and it could have been a lot worse. Hey, only five more blocks of IM to go!
Advice for other residents: although it is tempting to sleep all day and do laundry on your one-day off a week, try to get out of the house and do something fun! ¾ of my Saturdays off, I visited family in Rochester and the other Saturday, I went to a pool party hosted by one of the attending physicians.
Family Medicine
After four weeks of 70+ hour weeks on IM, I thought I was going to get two less-stressful weeks of outpatient family medicine, but that was not the case. It turned out that the attending physician I was working with was also covering a drug rehab facility during that time because the other doctor was on vacation. That meant that I was also covering the drug rehab facility, which was not fun to say the least. The patients I met there were often manipulative and it was really hard to say whether many of them would ever get better. I guess every physician deals with this in his/her own way, but for me it was helpful to simply remember that if Jesus returned to Earth today, those addicted to drugs and alcohol would be among the first he would go to I believe.
I have also started to see my own patients in the resident clinic and that HAS been fun. I have already had 22 of my own patient visits, which is pretty terrifying and cool at the same time. I did not do very well with my very first clinic patient. Even though I had seen lots of patients in the clinic as a medical student, there was something very different about introducing myself as “Dr. Brach” and knowing that I was now in charge of this patient’s care. Of course, it did not help that my first patient presented for “anxiety” and I was pretty nervous too. There were a lot of awkward pauses as we talked and I felt like the patient left the office more anxious than when she came in. I did successfully refill her anxiety medication for another 30 days though, so we’ll see if she returns. Since then, I have become more confident with seeing my own clinic patients, but am now struggling with time. It’s difficult to see a patient on your own, present them to your attending physician, and then go back in with your attending physician to wrap up the visit, all within 30 minutes. And that will eventually become 15 minutes when I am a third-year resident! Still, I am hopeful that I will become more efficient as time goes on in a way that does not compromise patient care.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned next week for a post about avoiding burnout.

Manage Microsoft Teams membership with Azure AD Access Review
This post will introduce you to the Azure AD Access Review feature. With the introduction of modern collaboration through Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams being the main tool it is important to mange who is a member to the underlying Office 365 Group (Azure AD Group).
Microsoft has great resources to get started on a technical level. The feature enables a set of people to review another set of people. Azure AD is leveraging this capability (all under the bigger umbrella called Identity Governance) on two assets: Azure AD Groups and Azure AD Apps. Microsoft Teams as a hub for collaboration is build on top of Office 365 Groups and so we will have a closer look at the Access Review part for Azure AD Groups.
Each Office 365 Group (each Team) is build from a set of owners and members. With the open nature of Office 365, members can be employees, contractors, or people outside of the organization.
In our modern collaboration (Teams, SharePoint, ...) implementation we strongly recommend to leverage full self service group creation that is already built into the system. With this setup everyone is able to create and manage/own a group. Permanent user education is needed for everyone to understand the concept behind modern groups. Many organizations also have a strong set of internal rules that forces a so called information owner (could be equal to the owner of a group) to review who has access to their data. Most organization rely on the fact people are fulfilling their duties as demanded, but lets face it owners are just human beings that need to do their “real” job. With the introduction of Azure AD Access Review we can support these owner duties and make the process documented and easy to execute.
AAD Access Review can do the following to support an up to date group membership:
Setup an Access Review for an Azure AD Group
Specify the duration (start date, recurrence, duration, ...)
Specify who will do the review (owner, self, specific people, ...)
Specify who will be reviewed (all members, guests, ...)
Specify what will happen if the review is not executed (remove members, ...)
Before we start we need to talk about licensing. It is obvious that M365 E5 is the best SKU to start with ;) but if you are not that lucky, you need at least an Azure AD P2 license. It is not a “very” common license as it was only part of the EMS E5 SKU, but Microsoft started some time ago really attractive license bundles. Many orgs with strong security requirements will at some point hit a license SKU that will include AAD P2. For your trusty lab tenants start a EMS E5 trial to test these features today. To be precise only the accounts reviewing (executing the Access Review) need the license, at least this is my understanding and as always with licensing ask your usual licensing people to get the definitive answer.
The setup of an Access Review (if not automated through MS Graph Beta) is setup in the Azure Portal in the identity governance blade of AAD. To create our first Access Review we need to on-board to this feature.
Please note we are looking at Access Review in the context of modern collaboration (groups created by Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, ...). Access Review can be used to review any AAD group that you use to grant access to a specific resource or keep a list of trusted users for an infrastructure piece of tech in Azure. The following information might not always be valid for your scenario!
This is the first half of the screen we need to fill-out for a new Access Review:
Review name: This is a really important piece! The Review name will be the “only” visible clue for the reviewer once they get the email about the outstanding review. With self service setup and with the nature of how people name their groups we need to ensure people are understanding what they review. We try to automate the creation of the reviews so we put the review timing, the group name and the groups object id in the review name. The ID is helping during support if you send out 4000 Access Reviews and people ask why they got this email they can provide you with the ID and things get easier. For example: 2019-Q1 GRP New Order (af01a33c-df0b-4a97-a7de-c6954bd569ef)
Frequency: Also very important! You have to understand that an Access Review is somehow static. You could do a recurring review, but some information will be out of sync. For example the group could be renamed, but the title will not be updated and people might get confused about misleading information in the email that is send out. If you choose to let the owner of a group do the review, the owners will be “copied” to the Access Review config and not updated for future reviews. Technically this could be fixed by Microsoft, but as of now we ran into problems in the context of modern collaboration.
Users: "Members of a group” is our choice for collaboration. The other option is “Assigned to an application” and not our focus. For a group we have the option to do a guest only review or review everybody as a member of a group. Based on organizational needs and information like the confidentiality we can make a decision. As a starting point it could be a good option to go with guests only because guests are not very well controlled in most environments. An employee at least has a contract and the general trust level should be higher.
Group: Select a group the review should apply to. The latest changes to the Access Review feature allowed to select multiple groups at once. From a collaboration perspective I would avoid it, because at the end of the creation process each group will have its own Access Review instance and the settings are no longer shared. Once again from a collab point of view we need some kind of automation because it is not feasible to create these reviews by an manual task in a foreseeable future.
Reviewers: The natural choice for an Office 365 Group (Team) is to go with the “Group owners” option. Especially if we automate the process and don’t have an extra database to lookup who is the information owner. For static groups or highly confidential groups the option “Selected users” could make sense. An interesting option is also the last one called “Members (self)”. This option will "force” each member to take a decision if the user is any longer part of this project, team or group. We at Glück & Kanja are currently thinking about doing this for some of our internal clients teams. Most of our groups are public and accessible by most of the employee, but membership will document some kind of current involvement for the client represented by the group. This could also naturally reduce the number of teams that show up in your Microsoft Teams client app. As mentioned earlier at the moment it seems that the option “Group owners” will be resolved once the Access Review starts and the instance of the review is then fixed. So any owner change could be not reflected in future instances in recurring reviews. Hopefully this will be fixed by Microsoft.
Program: This is a logical grouping of access reviews. For example we could add all collaboration related reviews to one program vs administration reviews with a more static route.
More advanced settings are collapsed, but should definitely be reviews.
Upon completion settings: Allows to automatically apply the review results. I would suggest to try this settings, because it will not only document the review but take the required action on the membership. If group owners are not aware what these Access Review email are, then we talk about potential loss of access for members not reviewed, but at the end that is what we want. People need to take this part of identity governance for real and take care of their data. Any change by the system is document (Audit log of the group) and can be reverse manually. If the system is not executing the results of the review, someone must look up results regularly and then ensure to remove the users based on the outcome. If you go for Access Review, I strongly recommend on automatically applying the results (after you own internal tests).
Lets take a look on the created Access Review.
Azure Portal: This is an overview for the admin (non recurring access review).
Email: As you can see the prominent Review name is what is standing out to the user. The group name (also highlighted red) is buried within all other text.
Click on “Start Review” from the email: The user now can take action based on recommendations (missing in my lab tenant due to inactivity of my lab users).
Take Review: Accept 6 users.
Review Summary: This is the summary if the owner has taken all actions.
Azure Portal: Audit log information for the group.
After the user completed the review the system didn’t make a change to the group. Based on the configuration if actions should be automatically applied the results apply at the end of the review process! Until this time the owners can change their mind. Once the review period is over the system will apply the needed changes.
I really love this feature in the context of modern collaboration. The process of keeping a current list of involved members in a team is a big benefit for productivity and security. The “need to know” principal is supported by a technical implementation “free of cost” (a mentioned everyone should have AAD P2 through some SKU 😎).
Our GK O365 Lifecycle tool was extended to allow the creation of Access Reviews through the Microsoft Graph based on the Group/Team classification. Once customers read or get a demo about this feature and own the license we immediately start a POC implementation. If our tool is already in place it is only a matter of some JSON configuration to be up and running.

tarak,
lets not beat around the bush, i miss you. like alot.
im not even going to get into what are the things that keep reminding me of th time we had, because thatd be me listing out my every minute of the day. yes, there are times when i remember you not for the good-reasons, but mostly i end up wanting to think of you instead of living in such a denial of ‘im over you’.
i know you must be going through alot, im not trying to compare us here, on who is feeling it more deeply, quality and quantity- how much ever of a utilitarian i claim to be, i want to be stupidly selfish enough to say i feel it hit me very hard. especially when i see people around me claim their relationships to be like the epitome of perfection and love, i just cant help but think of the beautiful masterpiece we could have made together.
they say ‘chaos brings art’., that, time will tell. until then, ill just sit around and feel things like how its supposed to be.
i hope its not that hard on you.whom am i kidding, how much ever i convince myself that you will get over me, by pouring alot of ‘hate’ like how your friends wanted you to, im still silly enough to hope that you wouldnt be that harsh on me. gosh, this is never going to happen is it? im only going to die in dissapointment of letting things go this far, and getting nothing in return(when i now have the chance) or do i?
i know you, i know the charm, i know how you effect people, and how much ever stupid and goofy you get around me, i know what you are- or atleast i knew. why did we let things go this recklessly? i was immature, but why dint we sort things out then and there. gosh, i just cant look at the word jodhpur without a little guilt., i cannot look at any word starting with a T, and has both R and K.
do you have any idea how many songs have the word tara, taraka, in them? its like some stupid prank someone is pulling on me. my mom also began to ask me how youre doing, she out of everyone, made an assumption that my mood is practically proportional to my time on my phone and phone calls, which basically is only with you. so she goes like “oh, tarak dint call today” after few days, she began to wonder if things were fine with you, and i burst out angrily, that ‘you should be fine because youre avoiding me’. please be true! anyway, i dont care where this questioning is coming from, but i reasoned out how this equation of my good moods being equated with our calls, was a little irring in the beginning, because i dont think i need some ONE person to keep me happy. it was a troubling thought which i used to hold a grudge on myself for depending on you for what ever greedy reasons. but i began to realise how first, that wasnt the case. i wsnt greedy on this reason, i was just looking for a support and a person to share my happiness with. i was greedy maybe when it came to things like, eventhough i knew it was hard for you, i was still there poking things and making it harder for you. TO THE EXTENT THAT YOU NOW BLOCKED ME. WOW. im not blaming you, maybe you did the right thing. maybe if you dint do that, we could have pulled each others hair out in this menace. but did we really do the right thing if i am feeling this way right now? whats the point tarak?
its 10:10 right now. wow.
honestly, there are times when i thank myself for this space, because i really enjoy doing things for myself, but by the end of the day, i really hoped that youd call or email, so that i could tell you about all the amazing things i read, watched, discovered and i desperately want to share them with you, but i cant!
i got back to my bubble, my day basically revolves around reading and arranging my library. i still hold heidi close to myself when i sleep every night. i really regret not finishing it for you. but i dont know how much meaning she hold to you anyway. shes my world, she is the first thing i was obsessed with, and i thought she’d bring you similar joy, but now we never know i guess.
ive been doing philosophy for NET, although i havent started in serious mode, illl get there soon. i applied for an internship navdhanya, and have made plans of what to do with life., quite roughly. i even made a bucket list, of things i should try, filled with things that fascinate me. sample, fireflies. i never saw them in real life. and now i feel bad just by that thought. but yeah, i was pretty serious wheni made that list, and i keep adding things into it every now and then. i dont know why i mentioned this now, but i felt like it. ohh, since im updating about life, i should mention how i spoke to dad(basically, a mail) about most of the things i could never say to him, mostly stressing on how now i should be left unbothered.
since i couldnt give rockstar another chance, sorry boss, the thought of having to go through that actress’ bad acting for three hours was itself torturous., i found the screenplay/script of the movie., and let me tell you how good i felt after reading it. i had better actors in my mind, and i dreamt about it for a couple of nights. it was a rollercoaster. i think screenplays do that to you. its like reading the book instead of watching the movie, but rockstar has to do with the songs, and since i had a clue about them, i can justify now. and i think i understand you better now, but i dont know, my timing of watching the movie is like another satire. not just this one, many more. gosh, i have like an entire saga of things i could use to cry over to. the other day, i cried while reading tagore poetry, although that was a worthy reason, its crazy how i dont know what little thing could be a trigger.
but how much ever i might try to romanticize all of this, tarak, i really think apart from the happy and goofy times we spent, which dont actually matter as much if we look back(except for nostagia purposes) id say we both needed a better versions, and both of us seperately too needed to be honest with what we are.. not just in showing the other person. im talking about myself mostly. and, for what ever we had, id hate to call it, but because of the lack of a better word, lets admit, we were toxic. and i have to say, how much ever you tried to get over your ego and wanted to be a feminist, looking back at minute details of the interactions we had, plus from the ones you talk about to others, i realised how often there were times when you basically preached something and failed to follow. im slightly ashamed to admit this, but i have gone through a phase of man-hating when i realised the things i have seen around, thats basically when i realised how these could be the things you failed to see, (and prolly reasoned out for good enough reasons) but somewhere deep inside, i know its not so.like i read it in some book, (which bt the way, i should say felt like i was reading line by line about you) because it talks about how men who seem woke, but still choose to do the same thing, although for different reasons(or so they claim) is another result of the system. and i just cringed at this thought. because im sorry, but i felt it multiple times in our stay together.
tarak, honestly how much ever im loving reading and researching, im afraid im getting very theoretical. now i cannot stop myself from pin pointing mistakes in everything, and am clearly missing out the beauty in things. if i learned one thing, love is for people who want to give up reason. if you are too calculated and stubborn, you can never love. im not saying im getting calculated and all brains-no-heart, but im slanting that way, and im just afraid i might never find redemption because i like this more. id choose this over love. for now. im sure time will prove me different, but let me tell you how much i value reading and art.
i guess we never spoke about this, why did we not?
you know the whole ‘books are my bestfriends’? this is literally my life summarized. in my entire time at indus, i basically spent most of the time in the library, or in the washroom- where i used to sneak in, to bunk science classes. i had a reading tree also. under which i used to read in the sports period. prajeeth was a science guy, and the labs were right opposite to the library, so he used to keep a check on me, i often got late to catch my evening bus, so he’d make sure i dint. not to forget the music room. that was another room i spent some quality time in. while the library was in the first floor of the new building, the music room was in a circular room, on the terranc. the whole terrace was for music and art. we had a lot of empty open area where we were given assignments in. i love that place. id want to take you there one day, if, you know...
so as i was saying, i just prefer reading and listening over anything. at this point, it feels like i know nothing apart from these both. i know you wouldnt agree with me being a good listener, but i know me, and i know im good.
well, now about us, i dont know. i really dont. i may say id be happy if you move on, and find yourself a woman, but i dont know if i can say it at this point, when im clearly meaning it. so, i can only hope for you to become a stronger person, collecting yourself from all of the past. and if you’re moving on, good for you., but id like to take my own sweet time with my memories of you,us, and laugh cry cringe all at once slowly. im not sating im attempting to get over you, because somehow that is making me think about you even more, and its actually making me want you for a whole different list of reasons. ill stick to this natural flow, and ill see you when i see you, years from now, or maybe more. somehow in the midst of some really stupid portions, there are some things you set a high limit in, for men to fill in- who might enter my life. so its going to be a big deal if i commit to someone tarak, and id still want to share about it with you, i dont know if that comes out from mere friendship or more, but i dont mind either ways.
i want to say this one last thing, because ive been wanting to say it for a long time, after the phone call.
it might be years later that we meet, and finally talk, when ever it is, how ever long it has been, if you turned out a good man, not just rational and responsible but realist and a romantic., id love for me to fall for you all over again, or maybe fall correctly* this time, until then ill wait.
i want to wait.
that’s me. there are surely many more things i want to say, but i will wait, like i said, and its not like youre going to read this, so its fine. ill look forward for what is coming, i hope you are healthy and are fine (at the least). i miss akbar, i hope aunty is not having a hard time seeing you break down anymore, i hope thats not the case, dont cry tarak! did you stop smoking? i was thinking about it on the 26th, i hope youre sticking to your resolution. i miss the smell of it, i sometimes open my specs-case to smell it, and it reminds me alot of you and red rum. its amazing. i miss it all, i miss you guys alot, i miss you babu. take care.

It seems the airline did all they could.
First I see him slapping around a male steward then the boss lady is trying to contain him and help him gain control over his anger and he spits in her face so she punched him and he probably knocked her out.
So his his broken ribs? He could have and deserved more damage than that.
The airline is owed an apology as well as all passangers for the loud annoying and violent disruption that could had been avoided 100%
Now two pillows or blankets could been wedged between his mother in law and the two people elbowing her
Or someone could switched seats. There were at least 3 people there.
But I feel it was a scam for commodity. I ask tree and it is confirmed.
He should be arrested for fraudulent acts and violent behavior and assault at least two times that I seen.
The female flight attendant was Spit in the face during a pandemic which the following video before the video is explained in Depth shows the world has shut down for.
So i believe she had used self defense. She was arrested and she should have the best quality lawyer available.
She was spit right in the mouth.
Some would say that is also an sexual offense.
In the video you will see where she was spit upon. Because she touches her upper lip. If you been spit on you know it sprays and probably hit her face from her chin to her eye. And including in her mouth which was partially open during the time of the offense.
The velocity of her right hook compared to his was insignificant in damage.
He barely moved. Her knocked her plum off her feet onto another passenger thus creating s 3rd victim of assault stemming from him himself, whom claims he is a victim but is not.
The victims are the airline attendants and several passengers -- his family does not seem to be included at all. His wife was loud mouthed and untouched. The mother in law seems to be unseen and as is stated that was a scam to begin with.
The female airline attendant's charges should be dropped and she should sue his family for pain and suffering upwards of one million dollars.
She may have sustained a brain and spinal (neck) injury from that punch and broken ribs from the fall. And what ever he spit at her.
It may not only been spit but a capsule placed in his teeth to spray any number of diseases onto her, including those unreleased.
And in fact he did. He released an entire vial of COVID without the antibody of 19. Into the air and mouth of the airline stewardess.
She should seek immediate care at the nearest top of the line hospital in which is available.
His entire family should be arrested. Ive redlined them completely back to the lab factory where his capsule was created. In Miami, Florida so my military will be there in seconds and before this is even posted.
All passengers aboard that airline are at a greater risk and unless in the exact vicinity of where the liquid was sprayed should not attempt to seek immediate care unless a low grade fever does impose itself.
If the liquid was sprayed on You, which luckily was few passengers, from where his wife was sitting, her row back all the way to the back of the airliner. Needs to seek immediate hospital care.
The airlines SHOULD notify the patients and ensure their medical care will be paid for. I do have insurance and so if the patients do or do not have insurance, they will immediately be enrolled into my insurance and tree will now send them a letter via email and paper mail notifying them. All fees necessary to be paid such as copay will be refunded for this time period. Having 2 insurance means you have less copay and other fees so it's fine and normal to do so.
So if you do not receive a letter saying you need immediate care do not exclude yourself from seeking care when you need to.
Tree is extending insurance to all passengers aboard that flight including pilots and any one on that plane before it was completely sanitized because on the plane is still current active COVID spray.
Tree will contact the airlines on how to eliminate the COVID in the air, carpets and seats and walls. The ENTIRE plane has been contaminated
So tree will provide insurance policy emails to any one in or near the plane including baggage handlers with your contact amount so you can show your healthcare providers.
Unless in contact with the spray itself the actual liquid it is not an emergency situation. However if the liquid has touched you it can be an emergency situation
The liquid can cause immediate throat and lung closures depending on the strength. Im trying to scare you but it's like getting shot in the throat with cancer except it's gentler and it is calmer and seems to be non symptomatic except a calm at peace feeling because of the slowed down breathing. So you will feel emotionally wonderful and calm.. But you're dying inside.
Its been 9 days since this unfortunate event.
The military is now at the laboratory.

today has been so many anxiety!!!!! i got really depressed this morning and convinced myself that gabe hates me and that paranoia still hasnt stopped lingering all day. and then after my native americans class i ran into someone from my high school and she actually recognized me which was TERRIFYING because even though ive never known her to be transphobic im generally terrified that any random person i knew was but i just didnt know because im 1 oblivious and 2 i dont think ive ever heard most of these people talk about lgbt stuff, let alone trans stuff, aside from like. my former friend dani, who didnt come out until long after id stopped keeping in touch with all but a very small handful of school people, and then i know that a guy i knew dated a trans person at our school. but like i never heard anything about that from anyone except people i already knew were trash for other things and avoided talking to when i could so i dont know what other people thought of that situation because it was near the end of my time at that school. she didnt say anything though, she just was surprised to see i was like. actually around and not dead after i vanished from school. AND THEN!!!! IN MY GROUP PRESENTATION IN THE NEXT CLASS. I HAD THE SECTION ON THE NONPROFITS CONTROVERSY. WHICH WAS JUST THAT THEYRE PRO-LGBT. AND MY DUMBASS GETS SUUUUUUPER ANXIOUS ABOUT TALKING ABOUT STUFF THAT APPLIES TO ME OR PEOPLE CLOSE TO ME, BE IT ABUSE OR MENTAL HEALTH OR LGBT STUFF. SO I FELT LIKE I WAS GONNA PUKE. THEN I WENT UP AND WHEN IT GOT TO MY PART I WAS LIKE RED AND SWEATY AND SHAKING AND I COULDNT REMEMBER MY PART PROPERLY OR READ THE CARDS I HAD RIGHT SO I JUST HALF ASSED IT. so that sucked too. i usually dont get that fucking anxious but with the it relating directly to me thing AND the already there anxiety about me being lgbt it just oof. then i made marin come sit with me in the library in hopes that she could distract/calm me but by the time she left/i was about to head to my next class i was just like. wow im dumb why do i ever open my mouth. not because she said anything bad or anything, just because i feel stupid in general. then i asked about silver’s antimicrobial properties being potentially where the idea that silver can kill various Bad Things in legends comes from and felt dumb for that too. then i broke a test tube in my lab. THEN THERE WAS A DEAD CAT ON OUR DRIVEWAY BASICALLY. and it looked like it might have been shot? im not sure really it could have been just a car i guess but idk. i think its the skittish young female i got a bit attached to seeing every so often in the mornings too :/ and i have an indoor/outdoor cat so the idea someone could have shot her is terrifying. and now theres the bi/pan thing going on which is lots of anxiety but yall get to watch that unfold so i wont bother. AND i have to email a guy for more info about my research project and im worried about that too. and then theres an in class essay tomorrow im also anxious for.
#just a venty thing#ignore me#there is mention of a dead animal in here!! and it wasnt a nice ending#but i just needed to unload this somewhere and gabes asleep so#hi im here again

Why do people keep comparing health insurance mandates to car insurance mandates?
Car insurance mandates are done at the STATE level, in accordance with the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. constitution. Obama strongly denied that the mandate amounts to a tax increase saying it was no different than requiring people to have auto insurance and charging a penalty if they dont. It seems like the ideal insurance company wants you to drive a safe and slow bumper car and have absolutely no fun driving to and from wherever you are going. They assume that any sports car or car with performance enhancements means you will crash. It means you are a reckless driver and no good to the general public. It means you will blatantly violate the rules of the road and have no remorse for doing it. All of that is a load of crap... Most of the major car companies don't even offer, when getting a free quote, to see Ferrari's or Lamborghinis prices, they just won't insure them! Your expected to report any and all modifications to the company so they can jack up the premium. So why do they hate those types of cars so much?""

Should my car insurance go up this high after an accident?
I got into an accident where I hit someone s bumper in a parking lot. I reported to my insurance company and they took care of it with $750. I was 100% at fault, and expected my renewal to go up, but when it came out, it was $800, which is 100% more than my usual insurance of $400 Does it suppose to go up 100%??!!! And this price will stay on for 6 years!!! That means by the end, I would end up paying $1800 more just to the company!! $1000 more than what I would've paid the guy!! This does not make sense to me whatsoever, first I thought the renewal was just for one year, it will go down bit by bit, but second year is still the same price! I am only a G2 driver who been driving for 3-4 years on PEI in Canada, can that be the reason? Still, $1800 extra?? Plz help me and thank you!""

Got into a car accident with rental and declined the insurance?
hi all i was hoping you could get some facts/and or legal advice. Ok so i have been renting this car for about 6 month now because i cant afford a down payment for my own. I had my own car insurance which covered the rental. However(bad luck struck) i got into a car accident 2 days after my car insurance lapsed i have since renewed my policy right away with another insurance company that gave me better rates. The fault of the accident has not yet been determined. I believe it was the other persons fault. however i am worried what will happen if it is deemed to be my fault. i was not covered at the time of the accident, i did not obviously have coverage through the rental company. i want to make something clear that i am a person of good faith and if it were to be deemed as my fault i have no problem paying the other persons deductable. but i am worried about someone going after me for thousands and thousands or jail time or loosing my licence. so my questions are do rental car companies carry default uninsured motorist coverage(even if i opp out of purchasing theres?) if it is my fault do i get to pay the other persons deductable(and damage to rental) and walk away? will her insurance sue me for full cost of repairs? will her insurance go after rental company go after rental place for money? will her insurance go after my new insurance even though i was not covered by them at the time of the accident? fyi: no one was hurt, she has a minor medium size dent in door panel, i have small tear in my bumper""

Facebook London, Careers
Facebook is based just off Oxford Street. As well as a strong engineering focus, the seven-storey office will be home to marketing, sales and support for markets in Europe and beyond. Facebook is also supporting UK-based start-ups with its own incubator LDN-LAB which provides intensive three-month programmes to kickstart their businesses.
Their London careers pages state the number of openings at the top along with a text box for searching. A simple employee biography dominates the layout and a page refresh cycles through them. Beneath, the vacancies are listed under various disciplines and you can drill down using keywords.
Look at an opening from your Facebook account and you'll see a list of Facebook staff the company suggests you may know. You can tap through each and send a friend request. Could this be a route to researching jobs with Facebook?
An Apply button leads directly to a Facebook application form; again, if you are logged in, some fields will be populated with data you've already given to Facebook, like your email address and mobile number. The form is clearly labelled and, in the main, well-laid out. The section for self-identification of gender is, perhaps, too simple but this is an evolving nomenclature for us all. And the IM screen names for WhatsApp and Skype are tucked under Additional Information rather than Contact Information.
Each application requires a CV document but oddly, the mobile web page doesn't list Dropbox directly but instead one needs to ignore the Apple Photos & Video options and browse up to Locations and down to Dropbox (or other options). Another oversight is the Save for Later button which is greyed out but when hovered over, disappears; though still functions when clicked.
While today, about 180 jobs are listed, one could see a redesign will be needed if the number significantly increases.
Google London, Careers
Google choose the King's Cross area for its London presence and expects to shortly have 2,800 Googlers in London. Standout factoid: staff will have their own tunnel from Kings Cross Station to their new office. The London career pages are focused on the jobs themselves and offer little information about staff or the location.
A search page can drill down by keyword, role, degree level and contract terms. Searches can be set as alerts and each match can be added to a shortlist. Be careful, if a search doesn't return many matches, Google lists jobs outside the UK, which might be a timewaster. Google varies the application process depending on the role. For example, UI designers are required to supply a URL for their portfolio; without one Google warns Submissions without a portfolio included will not be considered.
Tap Apply and, if you don't have a Google account, you will need to create one to proceed any further. You don't get to see the form until you do. Once the form appears, a traditional approach is used. Your legal name is required, as is a full postal address. There is an emphasis on educational history and, if this will be your first job, details of your last school too.
Google prompts for an optional cover note with We think your work speaks for itself, so there's no need to write a cover letter. Oddly, this appears even for roles where people don't typically have a portfolio to show.
Amazon London, Careers
This year sees London attract Amazon from Slough, where it opened its first UK office in 1998. Amazon's new Shoreditch-based office is ambitious; space for 5,000 employees.
Amazon London's career pages get straight to the point, photo' of Tower Bridge aside, with job listings on the main page. A section offers options for drilling down by contract terms, role and Amazon service.
The job descriptions are quite matter-of-fact in style but are focused. Tapping Apply asks you to create a profile. Amazon will help you get started by pulling your name and email address from Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn or Microsoft; or you can start from scratch. To continue the process you'll also need to add a username and password.
On the next step, you upload your CV (from your computer, Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive), enter your mobile number, full postal address and optionally, your current salary, and what date you can start the job. A cover letter finishes off the form. Amazon takes the prize for the oddest field we've seen in any form: a mandatory field for you to enter your time zone. You're also prompted for a preferred office location, which felt odd for a job specifically based in London - a case of a generic system seeping into the UX.
There is a Finish Later button but it clears the form when tapped. It's best avoided.
Those first two steps make a Profile. Get through them and you'll see a plain HTML form where the first field will ask you to enter your name again. Amazon then asks about any history you have working for Amazon and any non-compete contracts you've signed.
The form includes a series of questions covering various countries - the form has no idea you've applied for a job in London. You'll find questions specific to the Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, Romania, Czech Republic and Poland. They are not relevant to applying to the London office and can be ignored.
Submit this page (ignore that you're told you are on step 3 of 4) and your application will be made. Oddly, during testing, we were told our application was already on file.
Conclusion
Amazon's application system is, perhaps, the creakiest, made of multiple systems, requiring more time from a candidate. Google offers the most search functionality (surprise!) and Facebook appears the most welcoming of the three.
Though none provide a map of their London office locations (see Charter #2), they do provide good job descriptions and those office addresses can be looked-up.
So, put those negatives aside and get on to their career sites. It's an exciting time to be working in London and an exciting time to job hunt. Join Facebook, Google or Amazon and help them reach their goals in return for some rocket fuel for your own career goals.

New Post has been published on http://www.lifehacker.guru/im-aurelia-moser-community-lead-at-mozilla-and-this-is-how-i-work/
I'm Aurelia Moser, Community Lead at Mozilla, and This Is How I Work
Aurelia Moser is a developer, teacher, author, and also a bit of a cartographer. She works at the Mozilla Science Lab with researchers to collaborate on open source projects and is also a mentor at Girls Develop It.
The Mozilla Science Lab is a community of coders and scientists who work together to share their data and collaborate in the same open-source spirit you probably associate with Mozilla. Along with her teaching at SVA-DSI and Parsons, Aurelia is one of those people who seems to have ten gigs at once but somehow stays organized with a system of color-coding, text editors, and IRC. Here’s how she works.
Location: Brooklyn, NYC Current Gig: Mozilla Science Lab, Community Lead + Developer, Girl Develop It, Chapter Leader + Teacher, SVA-DSI + Parsons, Visiting Professor One word that best describes how you work: Continuously, cartographically? Current mobile device: iPhone 6 with a cracked screen Current computer: MacBook Air (2015) with the camera covered
First of all, tell me a little about your background and how you got to where you are today. How’d you end up at Mozilla?
My background is pretty colorful, academically and professionally. I went to grad school for art and media conservation, including resuscitating born-digital and new media art projects for persistent display and viewing by library and museum patrons. It was a pretty rad introduction to tech forensics, diagnosing code problems and working backwards to develop emulators and solutions for broken applications, defunct data storage formats, and deprecated APIs.
I worked at some creative tech agencies and then applied to be an Open News Fellow with Mozilla and Ushahidi, an East-African tech company working to build software for crisis mapping at global scale powered by both feature and smart phone data. From there I got really geeky about maps and worked for Carto and some geospatial software startups before circling back to science and applying to work at Mozilla Science Lab, a part of the Mozilla Foundation and broader network that works to support scientists who want to open source their research (open data, open access publishing, open science practice). It feels fun and fulfilling and not totally tertiary to my initial education in science conservation; open science and open source provide some avenues to promote and preserve research findings… giving scientists some agency to share ideas and iterate on them faster, informed by feedback from a broader research community on the web.
What apps, software, or tools can’t you live without?
Sublime Text – Text editor of choice, with a custom color theme that I change every few months.
Mou – Side-by-side markdown preview app, where I take notes and store text docs.
Firefox / Chrome / Safari – All the browsers for testing, sometimes for simultaneously running multiple accounts on the same platform.
Colloquy – App for IRC, which we still use internally at Mozilla, though Slack/Gitter/MatterMost/Adium are pretty popular these days.
Shifit – Love this app for setting up keyboard hotkeys for shifting windows and apps around your screen, useful for anyone who has a small screen and serious economy of space.
LICEcap – Animated GIFs are an entire computational language for me and I use them to illustrate bugs, document pull request functionality, demonstrate programmatic concepts, and capture delightful everyday interactions. This app helps you do that for any screen; no accounting for the weird name of the app but the utility is just ace.
Mail – I don’t like a lot of local mail clients but I use Apple’s Mail (and previously Thunderbird) for PGP encrypting communications.
Alarm on iOS- Probably the thing I really can’t live without: my phone alarm. I set multiple alarms, with lots of tones to scare me into stimulation.
Boomerang – A lovely app for scheduling email communications. I’m an inbox zero hero but I don’t like to impose my strange hours of operation on other people.
I also install a “dark theme” on every application I can, so that I relax my eyes a bit. I don’t really like f.lux, or anything that federates coloring on my screen because it skews a lot of color and design considerations, but I do think that taking a visual break from backlight is good.
What’s your workspace setup like? Coffee shop with laptop and headphones? Home office with a standing desk?
At Mozilla we have the blissful privilege of working remotely, so I work from home a lot. My twee apartment with a small desk in the living room is my typical work habitat. Mozilla also has a tiny co-working space in DUMBO, Brooklyn that I can bike to if I want slightly faster Wi-Fi. Headphones all day/always; I’m on a one pair per month diet, which is probably more a sad indictment of the poor quality of most headphone hardware than it is my over-usage of earbuds.
What’s your best time-saving shortcut or life hack?
I tried the Pomodoro planning but sometimes find it adds unnecessary stress to my day. As a modification of that, I usually try to do anything that takes less than two minutes immediately, and I compete with myself in cute ways to try to maximize my productivity during those two-minute sprints. I also keep multiple browsers open, and thematically spread tasks between them, so if I need to focus on a task, I’ll shut down the browser with my email clients loaded to avoid distractions and notifications from email.
What’s your favorite to-do list manager?
I really like Taskwarrior, mostly because I can customize and color code it, and I’m big on color-coding. It’s local to your terminal though, so best for private to-do lists, and the entry is manual so upkeep can be challenging.
GitHub project boards are awesome; I’m neurotic about organizing my issues and tasks in GitHub so I often move my to-do lists to GitHub repos, and have a new repo with a task log for every job I have.
What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else? What’s your secret?
Buying weird domains, laughing at inappropriate times, whistling and humming at the same time, snorting (corollary to laughing at inappropriate times).
But seriously, I’m obsessively over-organized and really good at color-coding. I group and color my phone apps, the clothes in my closet, my book shelves… there’s something eminently pleasant about ROYGBIV distributions, for me at least. It probably sounds fake, but I have a chromatic memory: I can easily recall things by associative color, the location of things in my apartment, their function and utility… like a useless synesthesia or mnemonic.
What do you listen to while you work? Got a favorite playlist? Maybe talk radio? Or do you prefer silence?
I layer music with Coffitivity, often other people’s playlists on Spotify. I like the strange serendipity of finding people across the world who assemble a music collection that intrigues me, more than the algorithmically generated preference playlist that you can get by training Spotify or Pandora through thumb buttons. If I need to focus, it has to be classical or instrumental; but otherwise I typically lean on shoegaze, twee indie, French and Spanish rock music from the 60s/70s/80s.
I loved Songza for their creative and highly specific playlist themes, Radiooooo for its spacetime tracks, Pandora for casual playlist generation. I only have a few playlists on Spotify; this is probably my favorite of those right now. I have a pretty strong emotional attachment to music, so if I listen to a track while doing a specific thing, that activity imprints on the music and it’s hard for me to listen to that same track casually. For example, pretty much anything on my running playlist is a “safe” track that is impossible for me to listen to without triggering a kind of heart jolt or mild panic attack.
What are you currently reading? Or what’s something you’d recommend?
The Story of Your Life and Others, Cosmicomics, Lab Girl, and The Recompiler (online inclusive tech mag).
How do you recharge? What do you do when you want to forget about work?
When I want to unplug I do yoga, or sometimes ballet classes, or I take a bath. I’m a terrible meditator, though I’ve tried many times. My sleep schedule is laughably erratic so I can’t claim that I recharge much that way, though I am a fierce and violent dreamer; I feel strangely energized by the few lucid dreaming experiences I’ve had.
What’s your sleep routine like? Are you a night owl or early-riser?
I would call myself a “low-level sleeper;” in more euphemistic terms, I might qualify as “more evolved.” I operate on about 5 hours of sleep a night though I really do try for more. I have little routines for sleeping; sometimes they include ASMR YouTube videos, hot tea, night yoga, melatonin gummy bears. I really love getting up before 8am, and will privilege that over almost any late-night activity.
Fill in the blank: I’d love to see _________ answer these same questions.
Penny Lane, Ian Webster, Robby Kraft.
Lots of people interested in open science, new media, and visualization … too many to suggest.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“The time you spend is not your own.”
From Paul Ford’s 10 Timeframes, a really excellent graduation speech where he discusses how, as a creator or developer, you have an obligation to consider the time-suck implied in your applications and designs. You should think about how many hours you waste of another person’s life when they use your creations, because that waste, if sloppily structured, is so toxic to human progress and such a sad debt to build with humanity. The pragmatic programmer is one who respects other people’s time.
I’m really interested in time abstraction and research into how we process and comprehend the passage of time, our most frustrating non-renewable resource. I’ve proposed conference talks on timezones and have lost so many hours to programmatic time-related bugs.
So that line, about being considerate of time, </slant_rhyme> has always stuck with me.
Is there anything else you’d like to add that might be interesting to readers and fans?
If you’re an early-career researcher, you should apply to our Mozilla Fellowship Program, open through May 14th.
If you’d like to teach more women how to code, you should reach out and join our non-profit, Girl Develop It. I co-run the NYC chapter with a few friends but there are many local chapters across the US and probably in your local area if you’re US-domestic.
Feel free to tweet at me or reach out with any questions; I love making friends on the internet: @auremoser.
This interview has been lightly edited for clarity.

Signy Island - Week Five
13th January – All lab work and no field play makes Jes a grumpy fucker. Must think of the scientific papers…think of the papers….must. get. papers. WONT ANYONE THINK OF THE PAPERS!
Not much gone on so I’ll write about the mundane stuff. We start work at 8.30am every day, I normally kick off by doing the monitoring of all my experiments early on. At 10.30, we all grind to a temporary halt and converge on the lounge where we will do the days crosswords from the emailed newspaper that we get: Several A4 pages of the latest headlines and a few paragraphs of story. About 60% of the paper is sport, so we are largely in the dark about what is actually going on in the world. But we do get 2 crosswords which are a significant feature in our daily lives. At first, I avoided them because I didn’t get all the answers on my first go (I have a petulant side that doesn’t like doing things Im not good at). But have since realised that that is normal, and that actually Im not bad at them. And its also good for the noggin. 1-2pm we stop for lunch, and then unless busy will stop again at 16.30pm for another bash at the crossword if we haven’t already finished it. Back to work again and then we roll the dinner tables out for 18.30, immediately followed by gash duties. Gash is a shipping/military term for chores. A lot of the slang that’s used in BAS comes from the military or merchant navy probably because there isn’t much practical difference between them. Other than we science other than war. Just that small thing… After dinner and chores, we are done for the day. Or not, as is usually my case. Sometimes we will get together and watch an episode of something - It was Game of Thrones, now we are onto Deadwood. Or maybe we will go for a hike, perhaps go out watch wildlife and take photos, or just sit in the lab until midnight torturing bugs and hoping that this will all pay off and you’ll be able to write your own post-doc grant, thereby setting yourself up in employment for at least another few years…
16th Jan – I got out!! I HAD A DAY OFF!! I went over to North Point, unsurprisingly at the Northernmost tip of the Island, with Stacey, Alex and Megumu. I was meant to be on a reccy of my control field site over the moss banks on that side of the ice cap, but ended up spending the whole day helping Stacey count penguin chicks. PENGUIN CHICKS! First we hiked up to the Skidoo depot, and then drove lengthways along the ice cap for a couple of miles to Spindrift Col. From here it’s another few miles hiking down mountain across moss banks and scree slopes. The Point was bird mecca: Colonies of Giant Petrels, huge majestic birds that are like the Albatrosses’ ugly cousin, but wonderful none-the-less; Adelie penguins, those of goggly eye fame and now to be known to me also as the muckiest penguins of them all. If their chicks weren’t brown to start with I’m sure they would have ended up that colour. You can see their colonies from a distance, big pink-brown splodges of poo. Then there were two Chinstrap colonies, a more refined penguin in my opinion; and a large and sprawling Gentoo colony that had spread over about 500m2. The Gentoos’ are quite elegant looking birds with neat black heads and orange beaks, and a clear eye that is ringed by white. Enough to define it, but not so much as to make them look like cartoons, unlike the Adelies. Up on the point proper was a Blue-Eyed shag colony of about 200 nests. Bloody odd birds. They build their nests like little clay islands on the rocks, and then shit all around them so that they look like they are marooned on a teeny tiny volcano in a sea of poo. The dinosaur chicks that they raise in place of actual birds were nearly the size of the adults, yet were still feeding like they were a fraction of the size. Birds regurgitate their catch for their young, but the shags do it all back to front, seeming to swallow their young, let them feed on the catch within, and then regurgitating the bewildered chick back up. Makes me gag just recalling it. Weirdos.
In between herding chicks about so that we could feasibly count them , which is one of the cutest things Ive ever seen by the way, I sat in amongst the bird colonies and watched and learned. I learnt the moves of the bonding dance between a breeding pair of Chinstraps, watched how a Giant Petrel took flight simply by stretching out it’s wings and letting the breeze do the rest, and obsessed over getting a shot of them coming into land, like huge feathered planes. I saw how Adelies, for all their ridiculousness were very protective over not just their own chicks but also others. I saw a Gentoo chick fight off a skua twice its size and then saunter back to colony like nothing had happened. And I also held a Chinstrap chick. And nearly squeaked my way into oblivion in the process it was all so damn adorable. A grey bundle of soft warm down that fitted into my two cupped hands…and my pocket if there weren’t other people around.
As we wrapped up for the day and started the hike back up to the ice cap, the sky started to break apart and the grey that had hung above us all day split into shards and pockets of brightness. In the distance the light fell in silver bands across a glacier and lit up icebergs that sat in its bay. It was all very moving. I needed this day.
