for the ask game :D.
1-8, 34, 35.
only do the ones that you want to <3. no pressure or anything :D.
YAAAAY okay long post <3 I answered them all <3
1 - procreate mainly!! Tho I also like to doodle on whiteboard fox, and whatever apps I download to test from the App Store. Sometimes I even like logging into roblox and doodling in free draw 2 for a few hours since I like the compliments I get and I like seeing other peoples art too <3
2 - by far my most popular art on here im pretty sure is that one akutagawa test I made in January on a random app I downloaded bc I was bored. 506 notes as of rn, and it still gets notes sometimes.
Tumblr media
3 - favorite art piece? I have a lot <3
Tumblr media
currently this one <3 didn’t post it bc really it wasn’t anythung I was actually proud of, juuust something silly to mess around with and not worry about it being ‘good’. I actually came to like it a lot so I won’t formally post it, but anyone seeing this gets to see it :]
[don’t ask about the ango in the corner, my sister specifically asked me to draw him like that and I don’t care enough to remove it😞😞]
4 - piece I wish got more love! I just think 15 Dazai and mori are a silly duo [redraw from kinoko on my head!! - cosMo@BouSou-P]
Tumblr media
5 - how would I describe my art style? Ooo this one’s kinda difficult bc it tends to differ depending on what brush I rely on, but I ideally would like my style to be a cute sort of uncannily creepy <3
6- favorite thing to draw! right now my favorite thing ever to draw is Akutagawa, Rio Ranger, and Korekiyo and it’ll probabky be like that for a good bit of time
7 - easiest thing for me to draw! Hair <3
8 - thing you struggle to draw! Legs, specifically legs in complex poses I struggle on particularly 😞 it’s pretty evident in the full body drawings since I stick to simpler poses for full bodies but im getting better <3
Tumblr media
pretty proud of how this guy came out for example :] 34 - thing you like about your old art? I always used softer shapes and kinda stuck with the same body building(?) method, even now it’s still relatively the same. albeit way less messy. Also I really liked drawing my various personas, I never kept track of ocs so I just made a bunch of personas instead, 3-5 are two of my personas from around then.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
old soda art jumpscare [ image 1 is from 2019, then rest are from 2022 <3] 35 - piece of advice for your younger artist self! i mean this with the utmost kindness to 5th grade soda. STOP DELETING THE ART PLEASE🫂🫂🫂 NOTHING GOOD RESULTS OF IT WE LITERALLY ONLY LOSE IN THAT SCENARIO PLS🫂🫂

*inhales deeply*
Woah, your art is so beautiful. How HOW!? I mean, practice of course 😂 blah it's so goodd!! Like the lighting! And the backgrounds! And the EVERYTHING!
*pokes fingers together*
So, do you have any tips or anything for aspiring artists?
BDLSSJKDODHDSKSS THANK YOU SO MUCH?!!?! oh goodness genuinely asks like these make me so happy because thank you for taking time out of your day to send this in?!?!? 😭😭💗💕💖💕💗💕
TIPS?!?! oh man im not gonna tell you to practice, practice, practice because its so basic and everyone always says that AHAHAH hmmmm....
I think what helped me a lot honestly was saving/bookmarking art that i like and think is pretty!! It inspired me a lot to draw more and try to get to their level 😂 also for more practical reasons!! You can look for one(1) thing to apply to your own art. Things like how they draw eyes, how they color skin, what kind of brushes they use!!! If you like it, you get used to it. If you don't, you try something else or tweak it until you do. Once you start mixing things in your routine and get used to it, it eventually becomes your own style!!
I also used to watch a lot speedpaintings to see what other artists processes were. So when i first started out i actually had much looser lineart and rendered a LOT. I dont do this anymore, i dont know what changed, but thats just what happens when you keep drawing!! Things change and thats okay!!!
Also genuinely, and i think this helped me the MOST, draw a character you're obsessed with and WANT to create for. Who cares if it gets repetitive!!! I drew yamaguchi so much i could draw him in my sleep 😅😅
ANOTHER IMPORTANT THING!! Whatever gets your creative juices flowing, just go for it. Dont be scared of messing up or not being good enough to make what you imagined!! It'll all build up and help you get better!!! Then one day, you could go back and redraw your old art and feel better about yourself 🤣🤣

Hello! I was wondering if you could a small tutorial on how you render your pieces?? They’re all super pretty btw!! I love your art :D!!
Ahh thank you sm!! <3 0: i’m not very good at explaining my process, and it changes depending on what I’m drawing as well, but I’ll try my best to explain it!
imma use the choso panel redraw since it’s a pretty simple portrait (done in Procreate, but most of this can be applied to CSP too)
once i’ve got a decently refined sketch, i fill in a basic starting skin colour for the character. i start some shading once i have a basic idea of where i want lighting. colour-wise, i usually go a bit darker & warmer for the first pass. (i use a brush that’s a basic airbrush settings but i replace the shape source with a reuleaux triangle) besides where shadows will fall, ill also focus on making the colour more dense on the ears, fingers, around the eyes, and sometimes the blush area. (also let it be known i use Liquify a lot, and constantly flip my canvas. as you render you’ll often start noticing lil adjustments that need to be done)
Tumblr media
ill build up passes of colour, going darker & more saturated as i do. as the colours darken, they’ll be in the more receded/hidden areas of the face (like under brows, under chin, inner ear, unless the lighting calls for otherwise) in this case though, he’s also kinda beat up, so i added more colour under the eyes/on the cheekbones to add to the bruise vibes
for the nose/brow/shoulder highlights, i made a new layer & set it to Add. it’s a handy way to get a highlight colour and brighten your hot spots for lighting. this is usually when ill mess with the sketch/linework, sometimes i switch the layer mode to Multiply if i know i want to fully paint over it. in this case i think i just Alpha Locked the layer and painted in the hair/eyeliner since i wanted them darker. once the linework is thoroughly fukt with, i make a new layer and start painting over. usually involves a lot of colour picking & making some adjustments, playing around with levels of colour. I also swap between the reuleaux and a funky dense rectangle thing for rendering, sometimes little sketch pens for smaller details too.
(technically the blue-tinge reflective lighting wasn’t very accurate for the bg/scene colour i chose, but i got carried away and didn’t wanna change it lol)
Tumblr media
hair rendering is fun sometimesssss. i make a new layer, choose a slightly brighter colour, and messily block in where i want the highlights. idk how else to explain it besides like, think about using H-adjacent shapes when you’re erasing/refining the highlights. for the last step, i make a new layer, set it to Add, and paint inside the highlights for the sharper look.
Tumblr media
When it’s getting to a place i kinda like, (added some blood/cuts on this one before moving on) ill usually start messing with some overlay effects. this usually involves picking a random colour, filling in a new layer, and seeing how it lays over the piece. depending on the vibe im going for it can change a lot, but i find myself usually liking Exclusion & Subtract a lot. (sometimes ill throw a Noise + Overlay layer on top as well, but didn’t for this piece)
Tumblr media
i hope that makes some sense??😭 im sorry if anything isn’t clear, i can try my best to answer specifics if needed.
it’s not my most thoroughly rendered portrait but it’s one i got a decent amount of wip screenshots for.. my style in general is still a wip, and i change it up a bit every time. i encourage experimentation always!!! it’s helped me a lot. i’ll see about making a more thorough tutorial for a properly rendered piece soon too!

hihi arte! 3, 17, 19, & 24 for the artist ask game?
hihihi ruya webe been on a call which is silly but i hope youre doing well rn !!
3. your favorite piece(s)?
as of now, my most favorite piece, off the top my head, is the greyscale thing i drew of lucia from tmk. i was messing around with brushes i had saved but never really used and the textures came out nice. i like the work i did on that canvas in general, i felt i got a good hold on her character. i tend to be happy with full body colored stuff i do of characters as of recent. most things i crank up the warmness on for a character and then slap a square bg on i tend to be more than satisfied with. same goes with playing around with brushes. fuuta trash and trash was a fun dabble in trying to recreate another style, and la maine de gloire i like for similar reasons. i hold a fondness for my deep cover william wisp redraw and we outta lightbulbs though that may just stem from a lot of attention on a pice that took a lot of effort
17. what is something youre confident about in your art?
uhhhhhhhhhhhhh i suppose my color choices and stylization. i like toning up the warmness + saturation and lowering the brightness of my art for a cozier feel and i like how it turns out. whenever i do contrast checks (literally just turning a piece to black and white to see if my values are good) the results are pretty good. i think most of the reason why im confident in my stylization is i just kinda like how it looks. some amount of the time i just do doodles that are just linework so i feel like ive gotten comfortable in how i translate things and i also tend to work from references. also ive been told my art style is quite unique and i feel that is the root of it
19. where do you find inspiration?
inspiration! this one is fun! at least for some amount of how i do(/did) eyes and how i color i draw from lavendertowne! her art is very cozy and nice looking, its cartoony but you can see anime influences in it. i think that's probably my main one. i also look up to drawing wiff waffles, she was the first artist i ever really became a fan of! whenever i do pick up alcohol markers (not much nowadays) i make sure to use a colored pencil for sketching. she's prolly also the reason i make sure to carry a kneaded eraser for traditional art. i like watching scott christian sava's videos. being an older artist with more life experience makes him sorta feel like the most mentor-y to me. also he's very nice and some amount active here. yunayuispink is who i mainly use for tutorials. their art style is simple but that is not to say its bad! the colors are nice and the linework is nice. i also like marikyuun's art. her use of linewidth and colored lines makes her work very merchandise-esque as she says. i own a couple studio ghibli art books that i should probably be busting out more for references. their films are very pretty. i also like to take bits and bobs from my moots' art styles that i think are cool. for instance, i think the main reason i tend to gravitate toward thin messy lineart is @/not scorb on here. though i think mine tends to lean messier (or maybe moreso them doing it gave me the confidence to post art like that.) i also take influences from other anime/manga, vaguely, often to the point where i just kinda forget the names. there's probably more but this list is very long already so ill stop
24. whats a compliment about your art that has always stuck with you?
hm. im not really sure. it might be from my bad memory in all honesty but i feel like most of the compliments ive gotten recently just tend to be a "great work!" which i dont mind or take for granted but its not really that descriptive, yknow? actually i remembered one. one time i drew different characters from a thing in chairs i thought suited them (lore rise) sitting based upon their character and i remember someone told me i was talented from the way i portrayed my personalities from how they sit. it really stuck for some reason, i dont know why actually. also being told my art is unique when i was asking my sib to describe my art style bcuz i didnt really know how. it just felt nice to know it was really something that felt like mine !
thank you for the ask !! have a nice rest of your whatever

#i have demons battling it out in my brain#one says: nothing creative/fun can be designated as work#the other says: but literally u have to do these creative/fun things for work#idk why my brain is like: it is only work if u r suffering or doing something difficult#but its v stressful bc it means i do unfun things all day at normal hrs of the day (or avoid doing them)#and then spend the rest of my time doing the more fun stuff which stretches my 'work' time to strange long hrs#but if i do them at normal hrs i feel like im gonna die#its terrible. and ive got at least 12+ hours worth of fun stuff i have to do on the lab computer rn#so guess whose gonna be getting up at 4am multiple times this week assuming nothing else comes up#also i have to draw a thing#which is why im getting a headache bc ive spent so much time today messing with procreate and trying to figure out a style#and my brain is like: u r wasting time!!!! u need to be more productive#but i have to figure out how to use the app??? also its sunday#theres just so much to do and im being crushed by the weight of it all#my brain keeps doing that angry buzzing then while i run so fun times#i think im figuring out the digital art thing tho#and that means ill have to redraw a bunch of stuff i did for the lab bc it all looks trash now and the style is gonna be inconsistant#sigh... idk y i do this to myself but here we are#srry for being so ranty lately. ive been feeling not great so ive withdrawn from socalizing and thus have no outlet lol#unrelated#ah fuck i really need to work on manuscript stuff tho#okay: this week i will read a bunch of annoying photosynthesis papers or else. i will i will. writing progress will be made

my muse || c.b.
summary: colby catches you drawing him
disclaimer: im no artist, so i apologize for any discrepancies in the descriptions of the drawing process.
it was a quiet afternoon. sam and katrina were out, colby was at his desk editing a video, and you were tending to some work on your tablet. you only had a couple things to do so you were done pretty quickly. you sat there silently as you turned your attention to colby, admiring the way he looked while he worked.
his headphones on, his blue light glasses sitting perfectly on his nose, the concentration in his eyes as he trimmed the footage in front of him at just the right moments. the lighting was hitting him perfectly and you couldn't resist the urge to start drawing him.
you’d been drawing for pretty much your whole life, and found that it helped relax you. it was a favorite hobby of yours, drawing various pictures of your friends in your own art style. and while digital art was your main medium, you still could hold your own with pen and paper. your tablet was just your preferred method, as it made no mess.
you opened a new file in your drawing app and immediately got to work, sketching out colbys figure, paying close attention to the way he was sitting in his chair, the way his feet crossed at his ankles, how he was leaning into the monitor.
once his frame was outlined, you got to work on the details. you drew on his basketball shorts, outlined his tattoos on his arms and chest to the best of your ability. then you got to work on his facial features. you were at just the right angle to get a perfect view of his face, his determined look, the way his eyes squinted and brows furrowed with his concentration.
colby happened to look over in your direction and caught you staring at him.
"why are you looking at me like that?"
"just admiring my muse." you smiled as you continued drawing.
after a while of drawing, erasing mistakes, redrawing accidental erasures, and polishing the details, you were finally done. you hadn’t noticed, but colby was gone from the desk and was now standing behind you after coming out of the bathroom.
"is that a drawing of me?" he asked, his voice taking you by surprise.
"yeah. the way you looked while you were editing struck me with inspiration, so i did that. you like it?"
"babe, i love it. you know i love your art style and getting to see myself drawn in it, im always blown away by your talent." he said as he admired your work.
"thank you. youre my favorite person to draw." you said.
you opened your folder with all your drawings of him, some of which hed seen, and others you hadn’t shown him. some were just small sketches, multiple on a single sheet, but there were also full pieces that youd spent days on trying to perfect them. some were drawings of him just being around, laying by the pool or watching a movie. others were your interpretations of pictures of him from photoshoots in your art style. you even went through and showed him some of your other drawings of the rest of your friends.
"you really are so damn talented, i'll never be over it." colby said with a smile, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. he walked back over to his computer and continued editing while you tidied up some drawings and began to brainstorm other ideas.

Art advice from someone who needs art advice but the specific kind that only I know how to give
A 2am write up by a burnt out artist with nothing better to do :)
Okay so let’s rate the typical tutorials people will look up (generalized)
Anatomy
Features (hair, eyes, lips, etc)
Bodies (in terms of shape)
Anatomy is one of the MOST IMPORTANT things when drawing!! It comes before stylizing and basic features - you need to know anatomy before you branch off into your own style! (Take as long as you need. I started out without any knowledge regarding anatomy - it’s how it goes. You’re never perfect.)
Second to anatomy is FEATURES! Eyes, hair, lips, clothes/folds, shading - those are second. I once asked a professional painter how she got things so perfect, and she said she would just repeat what she needed to understand. She filled an entire sketchbook with eyes, another with lips, another with hair, and so on. (She additionally did this with anatomy - one for hands, one for feet - then onto more complex shapes with heads, arms/legs, torsos). She would then fill an entire sketchbook with everything added together - basically she would redraw puzzle pieces until they ‘fit’.
Now, body shape is a rather stigmatized thing in the community of young and growing artists. I’m sure you have seen the classic ‘women are round/men are square’ or the ‘hourglass vs. rectangle shape’ or the ‘girl eyes vs. boy eyes’. While I do believe these help with basic anatomy skills and helps artists convey the cookie cutter gender alignments, you need to remember that boys have eyelashes and girls can be square. Don’t be too worried about conveying yourself properly! It comes with practice!
REMEMBER! Learning is a mess! You can learn in so many ways - I’m still learning, Picasso was still learning, that two year old with crayons is still learning.
Find your own rhythm. It’s frustrating and you’ll cry and the pictures in your head won’t come out as beautifully as you imagined, but you need to realize that not all tutorials work for every person, and that you don’t need to hyper fixate on a singular piece of advice from one artist.
There’s no holy grail of knowledge on how to make things look ‘good’. Time and patience and lots of crying is the only grail you’ll get - and that’s okay! It’s okay to rip your paper and throw your book and scribble over something and throw something out. It’s okay to give up and do something else, it’s okay to discard an idea you really liked, it’s okay to never get to an idea you really liked.
It’s okay to say that you can’t, but you need to also think that you’ll be able to someday. ‘I can’t, but someday’ gives you something to look forwards to. I cant colour clouds the best, but someday I will and boy howdy they’ll be tasteful.
HOW DO I GET INSPIRATION?
This is something specific to me - it doesn’t have to be followed religiously. But I like to watch things. Sometimes a mild existential crisis brings me ideas (I.e. wow, I’m here and breathing and the universe is expanding a billion times over but I’m touching scratchy grass rn and the temperature is just right and look at the fuzz on that bee). Recognize the things around you and how you’re present to recognize it.
Visualize the colour wheel! Where would damp grass sit? A blush on the skin? A honey bee’s yellow? One of the most surprising things I’ve found from colour picking is that purple clouds in an orange sunset almost always get picked out as grey. Lighting is important to your colours and you need to consider that! Sunset grass is different from morning grass!?
I’ve also found that watching people’s sped up art processes have helped me develop. You get to watch their ways of blocking in shapes and making things look natural, no matter what style it’s in.
WHAT DO I DO IF IM IN AN ART BLOCK??? HELP??????
Do a daily doodle. I know you want to draw that masterpiece you have in your head and the pencil just won’t work and maybe you just suck - no, open a notebook book or file, and draw something simple. Something to smile at. A frog, a flower, an eye, a stupid face, a dinosaur - draw with the aim of satisfying your need to put pencil on paper. Write your masterpiece idea down for later. It can wait.
Just remember that all tutorials are to help you grow and not for you to base your entire art life on.
If you don’t like how you draw your eyes, try something else you come up with. Don’t like your shapes? Try something different. It won’t hurt you, it won’t make you stop drawing. If you mess up on something new you’re trying, that won’t end your hopes and dreams, even if it may smush them. (I try so goddamn hard with my clouds that I can’t even begin to explain how badly I NEED TO GET IT RIGHT)
It’s not easy! You’ll hate everything you do!
But I think the moment you draw something, even if it’s a tiny part of the piece, and you say ‘huh. what a pretty thing.’
That is what you’re supposed to aim for. Creators usually see nothing truly beautiful in their pieces, so relax, go with the flow.

10 Anti LO Asks
1. you know whats also bad about the red eyes? not only do they look awful on persephone's pink color, they're not even a unique feature? like we've seen hades' eyes go red, we've seen eros' eyes go red, and ares' eyes are ALWAYS red, so even this idea its her "unique queenly trait" doesnt even hold up?? because we've seen it on other characters before?like at least the blue glowing eyes looked unique and even gave her a possessed, otherworldly look, something with the red eyes just dont have.
2. The faces in the latest ep (not fastpass).... Ew
3. I saw someone praise lore olympus art, specifically the ones where Apollo is playing his lyre and Daphne is covering her ears while her hair is split in two (yuck! Bad decision looks awful) so we can see Apollo, the one where she transforms into her hibernation state (weird perspective, chin and neck, I think, also what the hell was that supposed to be?) and the last one before cutting to Thanatos (which, I admit looks a little better that the other but I still got distracted Apollo's arm among other things).
Now, Rachel is a professional artist like 15-25 years older than me (I dunno her age) drawing one of the most liked webtoons.
I feel like I'm nitpicking or being too harsh or crazy because I think it is a little terrible and this person thinks it's amazing and I know art is subjective and all but like the difference of opinion is jarring. I am by no means a professional and my art leaves a lot to be desired and I guess I don't have incredibly high standards (or do I? I'm second guessing). Is it really that good?
Because I know that Smythe commits more than a few anatomy atrocities. I wanted to redraw a few panels two years ago and I noticed a few things that Don't Work Like That.
4. ok but that other anon is right. we shouldnt have to go off old tumblr asks or random tweets to understand what's going on and who the characters are. rachel doesnt realize you have to actually write whats going on, not putting the readers on a scavenger hunt trying to figure out what they're even reading.
5. im honestly surprised LO hasnt ruined more mother figures at this point. maybe maia will be next and depicted as neglectful and hermes is only the way he is because hes acting out to be noticed by her, maybe dione will slut shame aphrodite, who knows, the possibilities are endless when its about ruining every mother figure to prop persephone and hera up and to avoid giving the characters actual personalities that isnt dependent on mommy/daddy issues.
6. I hate the clothing choice for Daphne in run for your life. It felt like she was drawn in a sexualized manner when she shouldn’t have been because she was running away from a r*pist. Like she almost had a nip slip, we almost got her ass, it was like Rachel was trying to fit her butt and chest in a lot of the frames like some video game with the token woman character. Like if a different dress was choosen or how she made Daphne tie the dress, I just feel like Rachel can’t draw outside of pinup sexy that well. Like sexy is fine for sexy scenes but running away from a r*pist is not sexy. (I probably sounded really lame, but the way Rachel presents the story in a feminist way but can only draw one way in not even the same style is annoying)
7. Things I think would have been better for the story instead of focusing so much on HXP
-Expanding on Minthe’s and Hades beginning of their relationship (he couldn’t of fallen for her since she didn’t laugh at him and when she yelled at him said it’s not your fault but you have the hat I think that would have added to his character more to see him more than a 40 year old who hits on barely legal)
-Leto’s kidnapping of Demeter. Both we/are close with Hera, and probably know or each other or may have been friends. Like I wanna know how Leto kidnapped her but also how are they interacting since they probably know each other and Demeter probably had Hera’s back when Hera ended their friendship.
-Ares return to Aphrodite. We don’t get to see much of her character but we know this is something she’s wanted, but they way it was handled was so flat, We assume Aphrodite told Ares that his gf slept with his father to save their son but we don’t actual read any words between the couple. And then they’re living together. I wanna see how they actually interact and stay together like their better moments. Like how well did he settle in, did they talk about how long he left for or is he mad like come on that’s something interesting but I feel like RS can’t write outside of HXP
-the deal with Echo. Why do people think Echo could possibly be Hera’s gf if she’s her assistant. Yeah they do dirty work together BUT I didn’t get a wiff or sexual tension or anything. Was it that she was there with the doctor? It just seems like Hera is that CEO trope who has the assistant always by her now.
-a little more of Pysche and Aphrodite friendship. Like Pysche says Aphrodite is lonely (and we can assume a part of that is Ares) but also because she “doesn’t have many friends” so why not a solo scene of just the two of them being actual friends. Like what did Aphrodite say when she brought back a purple nymph that was gonna help them with their work.
-Hermes not talking about Persephone. I feel like that 99% of what his character is and then just a little bit of himbo.
-Maybe Thantos and Minthe started flirting/hooking up. We’re they friends first or flirts first? Was it after Hades and Minthe got into a fight or something else? What did Thantos like about Minthe and what does she like about him? Why did she stay with Hades with Thantos was there (it’s not like she wanted to be queen of the underworld) How did Thantoas and Thetis meet and become friends? Idk if I was seeing two guys and one of them actually liked my friend I might consider leaving Hades for him. But again hades did have the power to control everything in Minthe’s life (job, home, everything) I do like Daphne and Thantos But I feel like the transition could have been better if we knew more, but again RS can only focus on one thing and that’s HXP.
------FP Spoiler/Mention------
8. FP SPOILERS— I’m done. I’m really done. We called it. We FKN called it. They got married behind the readers back, Demeter didn’t respond to the question as she actively avoided it and time was up, Apollo is somehow involved in the trial- THIS WHOLE THING IS A MESS AND IM TIRED OF HOPING THAT IT GETS BETTER. Four FKN years of this??? I’m done with this Webtoon even though I’m FKN stuck in it. I’m so FKN done.
9. Fast Pass spoiler (kinda) OH MY GOD, I JUST REALIZED THE POMEGRANATE PIN IS JUST PASTED ON EVERY FRAME, NOT EVEN RE DRAWN FOR PERSPECTIVE, NO, JUST COPIED AND PASTED, REGARDLESS THE OUTFIT ANGLE AND LIGHTING, IT'S HILARIOUS!!!I mean, I knew the art was decaying, but this just made me laugh out loud of how bad it looked.
10. persephone’s pomegranate pin just looks like a giant fly that landed on her and won’t leave LMAO

Using references is really important. References for a standard pose but also more complicated poses. I used to like redraw pics of people playing sports bc it showed motion. U can use other peoples art as a reference (i did, my sketchbooks from a few years back are full of shitty copies of jamie Hewletts art- dont do that) but i suggest using real life references since like all art is based off of an aspect of real life. Draw in a moderately consistent manner. I spend a lot of time every day drawing but take it from me, you SHOULD NOT do that. Ive always been like that though and it messes up my work ethic for everything thats not art. You dont have to do it more than once a week or even like a month if you dont want but i get anxious after even a day of not drawing something (thats not amiable btw spread out your interests)Also watch a lot of speedpaints for artists whose work you admire. See how they make art and copy those techniques. Its ok to copy a technique, thats how you learn. It isnt stealing, it isnt even close to stealing, since youre recreating the technique and not the outcome.Use multiple styles!!! I use multiple styles but usually only post art with one of them and thats fine. Your art shouldnt be focused on making your style more attractive through small details, it should be focused on gaining experience and making it easier to draw (im not really good at explaining but i mean like unless your art is realism your style should be a simplified version of what you can already do) and using just one style makes you feel uncomfortable and self conscious about it since youre drawing a similar thing each time. Actually thats a reason why I try to use diverse body and face shape.Dont just draw people. Draw animals and objects and other stuff too, so that if you draw a lot like me you wont get burnt out drawing the same thing over and over again.Your art doesnt have to be 100% anotomically correct. This actually really annoys me, how some things are overlooked and others arent when it comes to anotomical correctness. Fot instance, i see a lot of posts talking about how noodle arms are bad and unrealistic but if someone draws a character with 4 fingers instead of 5 nobody bats an eye. Dont try to copy other people in that respect if its because you think a change in your art will be more accepted by the public, do it for yourself. If you dont draw for yourself art feels like a prison. Dont draw something for other people exclusively and dont draw something with the immediate intent on posting it. Then its not for you, its for your followers. Even if you dont have a lot and you want recognision for your art dont do it because youll get stuck.Ive never taught art or been in an actual art class or anything so dont like, follow these bible or anything.

Ask The Artist - GabrielEXE
For this ask the artist, I took the same questions I had asked HiddenCities and put them forward to GabrielEXE to see if there’s any similarities or differences. When it comes to creating your art pieces, what programme/s do you use and why? I use three programs for different things. For general personal art and commissions I use sai paint tool because it has a really good brush engine that allows for different types of brushes and a lot more flexibility with art that isn’t really for professional use. I use firealpaca for animation and making gifs since it has a very simple UI but also has onion skin mode. If I want to refine an animation then I throw it into SAI and redraw the frames there. The other program I use is clip studio paint/manga studio which I use for when I need to line something in a more professional way (comic style lining, etc) and it also has a lot more effects than SAI or FA so its a good program to do finishing touches in. What are your brush preferences and why? I really like the basic marker brush in sai since it has a softer feel to it and it works as a very concentrated watercolor brush, making lines easy to redraw without much mess and gradually making them darker rather than all at once. it also responds really well to pressure so when I want to make thin lines it does exactly what I like it to do. What is the subject matter that you most enjoy drawing? Ilike drawing bipeds mostly, but I haven’t drawn quadripeds in a while so that might just be since I’m used to bipeds. Things like humans, furries, or anything on two legs,
What are your favourite colour combinations to use and why? I love rusty reds and icey blues even though I dont use them very often. i love rusty colors because they are very rich and warm and remind me of deserts while icey blues are delicate and deep and remind me of cracked ice and deep water. Deserts and ice are my favorite aesthetics. When it comes to anatomy, do you use a reference to guide you or do you already have a rough idea and put pen straight to paper? For anatomy I generally drop an idea on the paper but as I go on I refer to references or I ask friends who are way more versed to help me out and adjust. I rarely draw with a reference side by side unless im doing a complicated pose or perspective, or I havent drawn the object before and I am unfamiliar. When it comes to creating characters, do you tend to do intensive research or is it more of a spur-of-the-moment creation? When i create characters I start with an archetype in mind and build from that, thinking of quirks and differences that set them apart from their cousins in their archetype. After I have a basic idea and I’ve created the character, then I go in and I pull deeper meaning from names and origins of design aspects to tack on some interesting info about the character that would fit their appearance and their name. When creating backstories for characters, do you make them up on the spot, or is it usually a long, drawn out process with a lot of research behind them? Backstories are the last thing I think up when im doing a character. sometimes I’ll build the backstory as I go when I’m researching the characters design and personality and I pull things from religious texts or ancient history and make parallels in some form or another. I generally start with a sit down where I think about why my character acts the way they do personality wise and what kind of things in their past could have caused them to think or believe certain things and then I go in and find interesting things to add and to modify those basic backstories to make them more interesting and unique.
