#this is a salt post abandon reading here if ur alrdy annoyed#//#went back to look at jjk and jjk just looks amazing. it looks very polished. it goes hard but also holds frames and let's them breathe#cs/m is moving too much somehow in a suffocating busy way#& im not bashing the cgi here. yes it's clunky but anything that can take the crunch off of animators lol#like some of the awkward angles and rotoscoping is the fault of being too close to the cgi they obviously used#they somehow managed to make an anime equivalent of AAA hyperrealistic games that feel bland bc of it#not always!!! ofc!!! but im saying the hyperpolish doesn't add anything of value esp to a property just as cs/m#& i know fujimoto is a movie buff n this is probably his dream adaptation n whatever#& i know anime will never look like in the olde days again#but i am thinking of akira animating on 1s and making the busy look work#i think of the hyperreal movements in satoshi kon movies and how he makes it work#chainswman wld have been better off looking like klk this is the hill i die on#not saying it needs imaishi's animation style and sharp chins and yelling. but the feeling klk had#of dark and grimy fights that went with scratchy and decidedly drawn lines in their fights & copious amounts of blood#& i do like the stark contrast red blood in csm! it just does nothing style wise since the rest is so Realistic. it's just red#in the end its an adaptation but i would have liked it to stay closer to the feel of the manga. the endings Get It#& on that note i also don't like the soundtrack that much. ik the discordant stuff Fits but vs katanaman was the first time#that it actually integrated well with what happened on screen. (again compared to jjk or klk that had impeccable osts)#bg music not op/ed ofc. tho none of the ending songs have been all that stand out either#anyway!! this has been my salt!!#csm blogging#still preferable to a bad adaptation i guess (sighs at fnae...)#but i do hope jigokuraku next year will look worse (lol) bc nobody cares abt that show/manga so they'll not go all out#and i do hope they will not Improve On (tm) jjks current style bc i need my toji moment to fuck me raw#good morning and goodbye

Never will the warm glow of the sun setting behind rows upon rows of blooming grapevines, not take his breath away. It was so close yet so far; he swore he could touch it just by extending his hand. Even from afar, it felt warm against his tan skin, kissing his body with a warmth similar to the one he felt when he laid beside you.
Despite his aversion to being alone, or more accurately his aversion to being lonely, sometimes he needed the alone time to ground himself and think. You knew that, so it wasn’t a surprise to hear the crunching of gravel underneath your sandals as you took slow yet steady steps, the same way you would approach a scared kitten. Still, though your presence usually brought comfort and calmness, he couldn’t help but feel the way his heart picked up speed inside his chest, each beat anxiously vibrating harder and harder against his ribcage.
“Dinner's almost ready, ‘was looking for you.” Your voice, soft and sweet, coated with just a hint of the Cabernet Sauvignon your family loved to share; wine more expensive than the life insurance he did not have. He could feel how his heart picked up speed inside his chest, each beat vibrating harder and harder against his ribcage, at the sound of your voice. “You okay?”
He could feel his throat knotting up, swallowing up the scream he so desperately wanted to let out. It made him feel like a teenager again, crying after he found out his brother ‘wasn't’ actually his brother; his vocal cords were on fire as tears poured from his eyes, and though they were camouflaged by the cool rain, they fell scorching hot, burning his cheeks like acid. 
And now he was here, standing with his back facing you as he tried to figure out the best way to prevent all those bottled-up thoughts from spilling out. And he knows, he is well fucking aware that communication is this and communication is that, and communication is important, otherwise, he was going to drown trying to escape the endless sea made up of his own thoughts, but he wouldn’t. He’d rather see his lungs well up with salt water than talk about the insecurities nipping at his skull.
He wouldn’t allow himself to ruin this, not after learning what it felt like to be loved and cherished and wanted. Not after making promise after promise, not after planning everything down to a t, after your family had oh-so-gracefully offered one of their properties in Tuscany as venue and had everyone flown down to Italy for a whole week. 
He couldn’t do that to you.
And yet he did. Coaxed by the warmth of your hand against his as it rested on top of the railing overlooking the vineyard.
“I feel like I don’t belong.” He swallowed. 
“Iz—“
“Just,” he pleaded, finally plucking the courage to talk about what had been bothering him ever since he got here. “Please, just let me finish.”
You nodded, knowing he wouldn’t continue until he got your reassurance.
“There’s, um, there’s this voice in the back of my head just telling me over and over again that there's something wrong, that I shouldn't be here, and the more I think about it, the more it makes sense,”
“You’re smart and funny and kind, and people love you and you managed to befriend my godawful broth— step-brother, how did you even do that? He’s so annoying, but that's beside the point, you're so good, too good,
“And if what everyone keeps saying is true, that the ‘opposites attract’ theory can only be proven right by looking at us, if— if we’re complete opposites then that means I’m even worse than bad, it means I’m awful, pathetic, I–” 
He lets out a heavy sigh, raking his free hand through his slightly overgrown locks. His lips were pursed into a tight line, he bit into his cheek as if the slight pain would refrain his eyes from misting. You don’t move despite the urge to hold him close, you knew he wasn't done.
“I’d like to tell myself that it isn't true, but I’m not the only one who thinks that, some of the people here can’t help but look down on me, and they're not even subtle about it,"
“I know your dad doesn't like me at all,” he let out a dry laugh; to lighten the mood or encourage himself, you didn't know. “Remember when we had dinner together for the first time? He couldn't even believe we went to the same college,"
“Everything’s just a constant reminder that no matter where I am, no matter where I go, I’m just meddling,"
“I meddled my way into the Sano family, I meddled into a friend group that probably hates me, and now I’m meddling into yours, into your life!"
“And it's so confusing because I feel so good when I’m with you, I feel like I'm home and like I’m safe and like everything's gonna be alright,” he turned to you, locking gazes despite his eyes being swallowed by tears he could no longer contain; he looked so small, so fragile in a way he always was but never showed. “And I know it’s selfish to want to keep you, but I just can't help but feel that you’re making a mistake by choosing me.”
Eyes heavy with sorrow, you’re sure he was holding back his breath waiting for a response; the tightness in his chest at the lack of oxygen less painful than another—though unlikely still possible—rejection. After the dramatic monologue exposing his feelings of inadequacy and insecurity he’s sure you’d call the whole thing over before it can even start. Don’t get him wrong, he’s shared his fair amount of emotional baggage and not once did you cast him aside because of it. In fact, every time he talked to you about whatever it was that plagued his mind he couldn’t help but feel your worry. It was like you had the utmost necessity to sew his wounds back together, kiss the ragged skin in the process. He trusted you like no other, and yet, though he can acknowledge the irrationality of his thought pattern, he can't help but indulge it, let the thoughts feed on his brain until his skull is rotten and empty. 
He could feel his heart crack once he felt the warmth of your skin slipping away, like a cruel premonition whispering your departure. The urge to apologise burned inside his chest and the words, bitter like bile, settled at the bottom of his throat.
“You’re not a mistake,” cupping his face in between your hands, you gingerly wipe the stray tears rolling down his cheeks. Your words were soft like silk as they tried to mend the cracks in his heart, sprinkle them with gold. The gentleness made his eyes well up with tears once again, sobs bubbling up in his throat and threatening to escape. “You’ll never be a mistake,” 
Too weak, too fragile, your warm palm against his bare skin, your touch silently whispering that he was safe, that everything was going to be okay; the shimmer in your eyes, the softness of your reassuring smile, it’s enough for him to break. He cries against your body, holding you tight between his arms as if you might disappear once he lets go. He coughs through ragged breaths, choking on his own sorrows and, in spite of the uncontrollable crying, he’s able to focus on your touch, raking your fingers through his hair and leaning your cheek against his head to give him some sort of grounding weight.
“You’re my one and only,” you whisper, holding his trembling body impossibly closer with as much desperation, as if you too, thought he might disappear. You place a tender kiss on the side of his head, softly rocking the both of you in your place until the heart-wrenching sobs turn into soft sniffles. “And I promise you,” nuzzling your cheek against his hair, you almost stumble over your own words, like pressing a freshly formed bruised, the rawness in your chest makes you internally flinch in hesitation. But it’s Izana who you’re talking to, and if anyone deserved to know the sheer importance of their existence, it was him. “Forever and always, for as long as you’ll have me, I’ll be yours the same way you’re mine.”
You stayed like that for a while, in each others’ arms, even after the sun had fully disappeared behind the horizon, the sky now a mix of pinks and purples and orangy hues. His breathing had evened out by now and had the both of you not been standing, you would’ve sworn he had fallen asleep. That was until he raised his head, with his eyes still tightly shut, and leaned his forehead against yours, “Thank you for loving me.”
You pecked his lips, softly rubbing your nose against his, making a wobbly smile break through his lips. “And thank you for loving me.”
The tender moment is broken by an incoming call, the sweet melody of an acoustic guitar as your ringtone makes him melt even more; it was him playing. He could hear both of your soft giggles in the background, and he remembers very well that one time you stayed up until the wee hours of the morning when you recorded him playing in secret and then had a playfight over your phone to delete the video. You didnt delete it, and it surprised him you still kept it as your ringtone after all this time.
“Dinner’s ready now, we should get going,” you sigh, looking from your phone screen up at him, before tilting your head to the side and using your fingers to trail the edge of one of his earlobes, making him shiver in the process. “Right, ‘saw you left your earrings on the bedside table, why?”
“I– your dad doesn't like them very much.”
“Don’t listen to him, my dad doesn't like anything,” you half-joke, a hint of truth staining your words. “Can I put them on for you?”
From the pocket of your shorts you pull out the pair of hanafuda earrings, and he nods, shivering as your fingers delicately close the clasps.
“There you go,” you smile, making his cheek warm up as you check him out; your adoration for him clear in your eyes. “Pretty as always.”

hi im sure youve been asked this a million bajillion times before but is there an estimated date for when Friendlocke S3 highlights will start coming to youtube?
Okay so, this is a loaded answer so STRAP IN:
I don't want to rush it this time, so probably sometime before the year ends, and here's why:
For Season 1, I finished editing all of the videos, and then posted them "Bingewatch" style in a short span of 2 weeks. To me? That's optimal.
On the flipside, for Season 2, I rushed myself too hard, and ended up posting stuff WAYYY too early, and thus, Season 2's highlight videos were posted over the span of an entire year (YIKES)
This lead to Friendlocke effectively taking over my channel for a while, which I don't want. I want it to be one of the many series and videos on the channel! And for people who aren't interested to not get bombarded with it over a longer period.
The way Season 2 was handled is NOT happening again. So in an effort to not "grind stuff out for content" and appease the algorithm, I'm taking my time with it alongside a bunch of my bigger projects!
I am in NO RUSH, and I apologize if that stinks to hear, but I want to make sure these videos are REALLY good. Like, on par with previous seasons or even BETTER.
If you want to know my current progress, since you've been so kind to read my word vomit:
The Season is looking to have 6 episodes, much like Season 2!
The way the editing pipeline works for Friendlocke is that it's broken into 3 chunks. The Base Edit, the Salty Edit, and Final Additions.
"Base Edits" are done first, and are the video editing work done by my wonderful Editors (i.e. Tracey, Rusty, RasenDan, e.t.c.)! These edits are where they chop up the best/most important bits, and add some of their own visual/audio gags.
The "Base Edits" of episodes 1-4 are all complete, with 5 and 6 currently being worked on.
The "Salty Edit" is exactly what it sounds like, it's my draft of the Base Edits! I basically do my own round of editing of the previous drafts, making tweaks, adding jokes, and working on scripted segments to stitch events together where needed!
I haven't done much of my edits yet, as I'm focused on the Jojo Iceberg and bringing back some other videos, but I have been working behind the scenes on:
Final Additions! These are usually the last wave of edits, focused on adding in animation, music, and other things. While these are usually added in last, I have to coordinate with artists and animators fairly early on to make sure nobody has to crunch. Basically, as soon as I know a portion needs animation, or we have enough material for it, I talk to them immediately and start planning for it to be added later!
ANYWAY, sorry for the long blurb. Hope this all helps while I keep working on stuff in the meantime!

The new round of intiates would not stop giving you hell over not helping in any type of training. Whenever your overprotective boyfriend left the room you were targeted.
"Does she even know how to fight"
"What kind of dauntless doesn't fight"
Those were the type of comments you tolerated every day.
You worked security. Ever since you all had to take down simulations and help end the divergent issue, you and Tobias were happily living in Dauntless compound.
Security in the tech room. Computers and codes were your thing. You worked tag team with another guy.
He patrols you help him not get killed via security cameras.
Dauntless had an anniversary party for one of the older members, you think it was either 15 or 20 years doing some job you didn't pay attention to.
You had went with Four, neither of you drank much. Eric. Eric... was another story.
He got black out drunk. Completely wasted. He ended up passed out on a table until some other members hauled him off.
You laugh thinking of how stupid he looked.
Today, you were the only available trainer.
You walk in the room, solo. Four had secruity. Eric was hungover. And most of the other trainers were doing other jobs, drunk, or hungover.
"Where is the trainer," Cash starts talking shit. He was the worst.
An asshole from Amity. It surprised you at first, the amity we're always so nice. Not him.
"I'm right here, dumbass," you reply earning looks of surprise from some of the other iniates.
"I'm looking for the real trainer, not some dauntless fake," he scoffs.
You take three swift strides before coming to stand in front of him.
You were nearly eye to eye, you were kind of tall. It was good for being intimidating, but in your old faction it was a great teasing point.
"I. Am. Dauntless," you say. Taking a swift punch, you hear a crunch and realize you hit him way to hard. Four would not be happy.
He pulls to the ground with a squeal of pain.
"Anybody else?" You taunt as you walk the line of iniates. "Karen and Jackson, take him to the infirmary and come back," they quickly run to help up the bleeding Cash.
You smirk before giving more orders of who was fighting and what styles.

seen quite a bit of negativity about part 2 on tumblr so I wanted to ramble a bit about the things I liked. I like the inter-character dynamics between the five we have, theres a lot of good banter and I *love* the rapport sena and songque have. Calling each other "Grandma Songque" and "Auntie Sena" afs;lff. I cant wait to see the way things develop and how the gang grows as characters, so far the game keeps subverting my expectations in a good way, especially with how dreamseeker is to a large extent their own person with a clear personality. She reminds me of fu hua. Also: screaming about vita. One gripe I had with part 1 combat was it often felt like switching to supports and doing their rotations was a chore I needed to do in order to actually use my dps. The new trio feel like each of them individually is fun and important *and* their combos flow into each other pretty well. Not as well as apho 1, but speaking of apho I always liked its combat style and its good to see parts of it in part 2. The way the resonator marks work is also a pretty fun concept I havent seen before. I was a fan of the arc city arcs and having the central hub be an urban area seems like its got a lot of potential, I like the depth of the worldbuilding theyre doing for mars and. took the various readables we got explaining the calendar and made them into an actual calendar for the current in game year. Lots of fun stuff to crunch on. Okay this is getting long so Imma stop for now but just. Im playing honkai full time for the first time in over a year thanks to part 2 and Im having fun!
Good post! I agree the negativity is a bit of a bummer.... hard to like something too if you start with negative expectations, you'll just be nitpicking instead of having fun

i really wish i understood the appeal of milo murphys law but i just can't get into it :-( I've tried watching it but it's just so painfully mid

(i’m very critical about mml here but i end it positively don’t worry. essay under the cut)
i watched milo murphy’s law with my best friend and roommate ( @herbi-cide ) which gave me a more positive experience with the show as a whole but there were so many times were it just felt like a slog. i hesitate to call it “filler” because it’s a pretty episodic show (though theres much more of a plot than pnf) but i don’t particularly find the laid back contained story episodes very engaging or funny most of the time. i’ve seen people (KEYAN *shakes fist*) say this roots from a lack luster premise, but i think that a premise is always as good as it’s execution. and a lot of mml executes like ass. it is straight up disastrous. like milo murphy himself walked through the writers room one day leaving the writers to salvage whatever scraps were left among the wreckage
im really not confident in dwampy’s ability to write a plot-driven show, i think it’s obvious that they’re comfort zone lies in episodic comedies. which is awesome, we all have our skills and comfort zones, phineas and ferb is so great at what it does for a reason. but i think this is very much to mml’s detriment. there is so much set up for great storylines and likable characters, and so many good ideas, but like, either they didn’t have time to do anything with them or just straight up didn’t know how. it is genuinely impressive how boring mml can get given its cast and world
i think people blame pnf too much for the decline of mml in season 2, doofenshmirtz is insufferable throughout most of it and all, but i think the pnf shoehoring hints to a larger problem that mml always had. it feels as if it’s uncomfortable with its own characters and world, like it’s afraid to commit, and i think that is very much dwampy’s sitcom-oriented writing style shining through in an ugly way
i see people praise mml for its story, but because of dwampy’s aversion to writing linear storytelling, it definitely ranges on the plot-light side of television. it’s not quite a sitcom, but there’s really not much story progression happening aside from a few world building episodes and big arcs like the aliens or the pistachions (which phineas and ferb also does better in the meap saga let’s be real, at least for the alien arc)
i don’t like comparing mml to phineas and ferb, but one fails so hard at the things the other achieves in spades that it’s kind of impossible not to compare them. i wouldn’t mind mml’s shitty storytelling as much if the plot-light episodes (which is most of them) were compelling. phineas and ferb has just as good as a premise as murphy’s law, if not less interesting, and does the character-driven sitcom filler infinitely better in every single way. it is rare i’ll ever be bored watching phineas and ferb, and ik comedy is subjective, but i think a lot of us can agree that phineas and ferb is overall just wittier and funnier in general than mml. mml is kind of forgettable! i’ll be real! i love it but it’s forgettable
i want mml to be its own unique thing sooo bad but especially in the second half it feels like there’s no reason i shouldn’t just turn it off and go watch phineas and ferb. it’s also frustrating because i know mml has the capability to be good, because the pistachion arc is gripping and well structured and generally super entertaining (one of the best experiences i’ve had watching a show with a friend), and there’s a lot of fantastic episodes and moments in there. which is why i’m so harsh on it, it’s disappointing!!
there’s dozens and dozens of ultra talented people who worked on milo murphy’s law (i’ve gone through so many storyboards and portfolios to look for more details about the artists who worked on it so can confirm these people are awesome) so i can only wonder if studio conditions / time crunches / other factors (disney bullshitery) had anything to do with how spectacularly mml fails in a lot of regards, but there’s an upside, and this is the biggest appeal of murphy’s law for me:
the milo murphy’s law fandom and by extent the dakavendish fandom is one of the best fandoms i’ve ever seen hands down, some of the most dedicated and passionate writers, artists and general fans continue to be active in the community and create awesome shit that is leagues better than anything in the source material. because mml presents so many good concepts but doesn’t deliver, it leaves a lot of room for fans to expand on them and make their own amazing stuff. and because they’re such a small community, and milo murphy’s law is widely remembered as “that show that came after phineas and ferb” or “that show keyan carlile didn’t like” they are very close knit and very very friendly. nicest ppl you’ll ever meet
if it weren’t for the fandom i would not give a single shit about milo murphy’s law, but the fans make the show and it’s characters so much more than they are in the source material. so no wonder i had such a good time watching it when i had my roommate to talk about it with! community adds context to art in a way that can change it entirely, especially in the age of the internet
so i will always recommend murphy’s law with that in mind. also, think of it this way: at least it’s not hamster and gretel. i’ll stand by my opinion that show sucks LMAO

who wants to hear some fucked up crackpot headcanons. TOO LATE IM SHARING THEM NOW BOY!
some of these ive definitely already said before but they're going on here for the sake of categorization anyways. cw for uhhh body horror, parasites, emeto, cannibalism and necrosis, all the fun stuff you'd imagine go along with this
•after a certain point in dissonance overexposure his face literally just Melted Off. Gone. it's mostly just bandages, exposed muscle & scar tissue under there now which is why he kept the helmet on fulltime & wears a mask. he also used to have bleach blonde hair which he lost pretty much completely along with the face WHOOPS!
•speaking of that plague mask DOES NOT COME OFF! like, it's literally part of him at this point. it fused to his skin after a while of him constantly wearing it & then his skull grew out underneath it to fit it so that is quite literally just his face now. it's made of metal but he still has sensation in it like it's skin! it'll still bleed if you lash him across it hard enough. (if you decked him good enough in the center of the beak you would PROBABLY hear the disconcerting crunch of bone.) THIS IS ALSO THANKS TO DISSONANCE! HURRAY DISSONANCE!!!!
•his old anti-dissonance helmet also had some dull feeling in it, mostly towards the end of his career, though it was never able to get to the level of attachment that his current mask now has <3
•post-nexus he is constantly losing teeth and growing new ones in like a shark and it hurts like fuck and he basically has to teathe on shit like a dog sometimes to alleviate it. also in this vein his bite is INFECTIOUS like that's a given for any person but i think his especially would quite literally BURN from the very get. he has a super nasty bite bc his lips are just jagged metal so it can rip and tear like shit. coincidentally he is definitely not above biting people in combat and probably might even if he's already armed. Just for fun!
•actually in general i think he fights like a wild goddamn animal. he doesn't like guns (re: sucks dick at using them) and only likes melee bc it's *honorable" and Blades Pretty but he is QUICK o resort to biting, kicking, clawing, etc etc and he's damn good at it too. he's probably impaled someone through the head on that beak of his before. i would LOVE to animate how i imagine him to fight in the good ol fashioned style of Madness Combat: The Series About Animated Violence bc it's SUPER vivid to me
•his mouth will seal over & will have to rip itself open if he goes a while without using it. he's pretty much completely numb to it by now after so many times but it definitely catches other people off guard when he smiles or something of that nature i think
•hes super drooly. weird mouth situation and it's honestly probably a good mix of blood from his tooth situation/mouth constantly tearing itself apart
•i honestly dont think i even need to say this but he smells. Bad. like. as bad as youd anticipate a sewer zombie to smell, yk. it kind of sucks bc he USED to be like hyperaware of his own hygiene but after the facemelter incident that kinda gradually declined until he was. just okay enough with it to Live In The Sewers. sometimes he will have moments of self awareness where he can feel every inch of grime on his body and it makes him SICK TO HIS STOMACH so he tries his absolute best not to pay any mind to it
•after being enmeshed he is so full of maggots and flies and mold... and other such detritivores YUM!!! he lost a lot of feeling in his extremities bc a lot of nerves died off so he barely notices but sometimes he will catch one crawling up his shirt or something & hold it and maybe talk to it a little bit and admire it.....he likes bugs idt he minds to be frank <3 (well. he does and doesn't. similar deal to the general hygiene yk? really not much to be done about it anymore and if he thinks about it too hard he WILL freak out so it's best not to!)
•the fact that i color his saliva/internals that bright ass green is not just stylization for fun I do legit think this boy has glowstick blood. something to do with constantly handling other people's S-3LFs during enmeshment. i think he quite literally has fragments of countless people's souls stuck in his system & they often manifest as hallucinating random voices/people
•hes so stupid proud of himself for managing to come back as a zed and also. Inwardly a little horrified by it. his body definitely isn't up to full function like it used to be (it was already kinda deteriorating due to dissonance poisoning so ERM!) & if he isn't careful about when he eats he WILL just dull back into blind hunger and attack & eat the nearest person he can get his paws on! it's kinda scary to black out and lose control of yourself like that over something you almost never think about being a huge issue.... OF COURSE. not that he'd ever TELL anyone it scares him. GOD FORBID HE ADMIT HIS LINE OF SCIENCE IS KIND OF FUCKED UP!!!!
•he was also a cannibal before becoming a zed so the whole fact that he eats people now isn't really an issue and didn't . really change lol. NOT WHEN HE WAS A SCIENTIST but like. post nexus he Absolutely resorted to cannibalism almost concerningly quickly. HMM!
•he definitely makes stuff out of people bones too. you can't look at him and tell me he doesn't
•he's specifically become a swamp zed and sometimes he WILL have to physically hold himself back from throwing up as a stress/defensive response
•however, BECAUSE he's a swamp zed he's adapted to be semi-aquatic by now so he can hold his breath for a pretty good while & he's a REAL good swimmer! he has webbed paws and a strong ass salamander tail for this purpose
•he has very vivid nightmares almost every night and tries to avoid sleeping as much as possible due to this. this was something that started while he was still working for nexus due to dissonance exposure but it just got worse and worse and became ESPECIALLY bad following phobos's death. he'll push himself days and even weeks on end without sleeping until he quite literally passes out...

wait please tell me about the trials and tribulations of how radiofish got together, I'm curious now
BOY HOWDY OKAY IM GONNA TRY SO HARD TO BE NORMAL ABT THIS BUT DKDBSKDBSNDHSKDHSJ ALSO IM AT WORK AND THEREFORE ON A TIME CRUNCH DKFHSKDBSKXBSKXBSJXH it took me all day to finish this oops djfbskdbsksn
ok so to start, radiofish is actually the combination of oriental radio (oriraji) (comedy duo) and fishboy (breakdancer). oriraji's nakata atsuhiko is the big brother of fishboy, and they started collaborating just before the release of PERFECT HUMAN. this was a part of nakata atsuhiko's three phase plan for making it big -- first was their first big break that happened upon their debut, with their rhythm skits they called "buyuuden". second was when fujimori shingo (the other half of oriraji) debuted his "charao" personality. and third was using 8.6 byou bazooka's viral rhythm skit to then boost themselves into the PERFECT HUMAN phase.
but i digress.
the trials and tribulations began right from oriraji's debut, from their big break with buyuuden. they were so immensely popular, but behind the scenes fujimori and nakata were basically at each other's throats. nakata wrote the skits, told fujimori what to do and say, and as their popularity grew, so did his arrogance. naturally fujimori felt resentment, but also knew that nakata's confidence was not misplaced -- he was v intelligent and graduated from a prestigious university. meanwhile fujimori came from a family of farmers out in the countryside and could not help but feel inferior.
meanwhile, nakata struggled to connect w their peers and senpai in the comedy field, which was something that fujimori was inherently good at.
this obviously sparked jealousy and resentment and disdain, and with such feelings becoming mutual, it led to discord between nakata and fujimori, to the point that they infamously had a physical fistfight during a live radio show they were guests on.
as the hype around buyuuden died down and there was outside pressure for them to prove themselves to be "real comedians" and try out the traditional style of comedy (manzai), they faded a little from the forefront of the comedy scene (subsequently losing their 3 prime time tv shows they had within a year)
it wasn't until fujimori's "charao" personality took off through his collaborations with ayaman japan that oriraji experienced their second big break. his whole thing became playing the lighthearted, chill, almost-womanizer type of guy, and it was hugely popular. he was featured in commercials and for a while he had a lot more solo gigs as "charao" than they had as oriraji. during this period nakata was essentially left out of the spotlight, and it was a bit of a turning point for the duo...
with the rise in their popularity, they were called in for many tv shows, one of which had them write an exchange journal where they took turns reflecting on their years as a comedy duo and it allowed them to be more honest about their own insecurities, their fears. they moved forward together, eventually bringing back rhythm skits when they decided that they didnt have anything to prove, but the skits themselves were in a new style. they were more music focused, and began to both poke fun at their tumultuous past together, as well as excessively praise nakata for very silly things.
around that same time, 8.6 byou bazooka got their big break with a rhythm skit of their own, and nakata saw a golden opportunity there -- at an event they were at together, he and fujimori performed 8.6 byou bazooka's skit, and it went viral.
it renewed the public interest in oriraji and their buyuuden, which nakata rewrote to poke fun at the fact that oriraji themselves copied another rhythm skit to get another big break.
and then they added on musical/dance performance at the end of their new skit, featuring an original song that fujimori wrote and they sang together.
since then, radiofish has held live performances, sold merch, had pop up shops, as they also continue to be featured on comedy shows. they continue to release music, their most recent single having come out in february of this year.
they released a handful of songs, but the most prominent one -- the one that was featured on that year's red and white song festival which is broadcast nationwide -- was PERFECT HUMAN.
written (in one night at nakata's request no less!) and sung by fujimori and performed by fishboy's dance group, it continued to excessively praise nakata as being the "perfect human" and comparing him to god and it also went viral. they even made a music video that was modeled after the great gatsby.
nakata and fujimori seem to be on overall far better terms and id like to think theyre long past any sort of lingering resentment, but also... a couple of years ago(?) oriraji very abruptly left their management company (yoshimoto) and it came out afterwards that it was a decision that nakata made and didnt necessarily discuss it with fujimori beforehand, which. was an issue...
to my knowledge they both mainly guest star on tv shows, but also nakata has been focusing on his youtube channel where he makes? informational/educational(?) videos... fujimori has been releasing his own original songs on his youtube channel.
i feel like im leaving a lot out but this is already longer than i meant it to be when i first started answering this -- its taken me all day to type all this out so ill leave it here.

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in
ok really really long story but when i was in high school i had a big set of characters and a plan laid out for an animated short, that i ended up trying to do for my senior project (my high school did those. they could kinda be whatever you want.) it involved a possum named reuben who worked as a cook in a dilapidated Kowloon Walled City type setting. a terrible setting for the story i realize now. the characters feel plopped into a totally disconnected world. theres no thematic or lore reason i set it in a place like that, and the characters are all so entirely american lmao my little highschool self was just really interested in that kind of stuff i guess. his boss was an incompetent raccoon named pascal, and the plot involved reuben running an errand (buying some cinnamon) for the restaurant after a local celebrity, a bat named Flan, showed up. his order had cinnamon in it and pascal didnt want to have to make an incomplete dish for him because he probably had a huge crush on the guy. coincidentally reuben met up with his friend, a pidgeon named Mochi. (i wish id just leaned full on into the chowder style food names and given pascal a different name lmao idk why i didnt.) thats the gist of it, and i worked on it all throughout my senior year, though at least 80% of that work did not go into the actual animation because i planned it so incredibly poorly. most of my time went into the storyboards, which is the part i actually enjoyed the most.

next, in an act of utter foolishness, i decided to tackle the project of drawing every. single. background. and mind you i did not know how to draw backgrounds. this took me months of time i could have spend animating, and i had to get help from my internet friends just to get it done in a timely manner. i ended up with. 81 BACKGROUNDS. THE AMOUNT ACTUALLY USED IN THE FILM? ABOUT 10. MAYBE.
i did all the voice acting myself, which is the only reason im not linking the final film here beyond general embarrassment over the quality. this was pre-transition and im not comfortable sharing how i sounded back then. in the end, with only a few months left in the year, i finally began animation, and it was quite a lot of fun. sadly, i was tackling all the scenes with no lip-syncing necessary first because i assumed lip-syncing would be very hard with my snouted characters. i didnt ever get to any lip-synced shots, but the scenes i ACTUALLY did get around to animating were a lot of fun.
with my unprepared hubris, i ended up with an 8-minute slideshow of inscrutable storyboard scans punctuated occasionally with animation. i would have preferred to edit the characters into the backgrounds i had worked so hard on, but i had to crunch insanely hard to assemble the final video near the end to meet the time limit, and gladly, covid-19 made it so only my family and teachers were present during the presentation, with my classmates present over a zoom stream, which eased a lot of the embarrassment. i still had to leave the room while the short played. gladly though, they loved it, and thought it was really really funny. i stated boldly that i would FINISH THE SHORT SOMEDAY AND SEND IT OUT TO EVERYONE. at the time i probably meant what i said. id been drawing reuben, pascal, flan and mochi in the corners of my homework every day for years, i was really really passionate about them, but after the school year ended something kind of shifted. coincidentally it lined up with my coming out as trans and drawing Cath for the first time. i lost interest very quickly after that, and my parents were pretty mad that id decided to abandon the project. i guess the pressure probably got to me too. i was burnt out and even i was aware of how messy and flawed the story had come out. i didnt really draw them ever again after that except for a few times. leaving the project behind also ended my hopes of becoming an animator one day, my dream up until that point. it was probably the biggest shift in my artistic direction ive ever had, and im happy that shift happened. even though i left those characters behind almost entirely, they helped me become the person i am today. this of course involves all the times i drew reuben with boobs and thought “this is normal right? its normal that im drawing whats essentially my sona as a girl, right? its normal that i think about reuben transforming into a girl so often right?”

it super duper sucks that MAPPA pushed thru with this hellish crunch schedule instead of giving the animators time to really polish these past few eps. the style and art direction are so gorgeous but these should’ve been the drafts instead of a passable final product
like with sukuna fucking up shibuya, the studio coulda let tsuchigami itsuki and friends do their full mob psycho sakuga magic on it!! like we see the vision ep40 was still amazing but ep41 was definitely the house of cards buckling bc we gotta have abusive working conditions or else

How long usually does it take you to finish a full piece? Like that last moon drawing you did? :0
oyyyy, that really depends: for example, the sun piece i've finished under 5 hours because i was on time crunch but the previous attempt took all day! whilst mafia eclipse took me several evenings on working days to finish the sketch and then half a day and full day and an all nighter to draw moon gave me most frustration, it started on 24 (thursday of previous week)

and once the sketching was done, it was time for suffering and sitting untill 2 in the night. (finished today at around 9 am) because i couldn't figure out for the life of me how to render his jaw on moon side, the back of hands and his arms. if i were to show timelapse u would see how much hyperfocuse went on those areas only to be completely redrawn. i think hands got the most of redraws, around 4 fully rendered versions lmao (im in pain) also it took so long that i started to apply different styles of rendering on bodyparts of the same material kkhkhkkhhkh and them midway thru drawing i pulled up sfm to examine their hands only to find out that they have completely diffrent shape

Sakuya: What’s up?
Tsuzuru: During rehearsal this time, and even before then… From the very beginning actually now that I think about it, thank you for always being the first to praise my scripts.
Sakuya: You don’t have to thank me! I just really love your stories, so I’m always impressed with your scripts…!
Tsuzuru: Still, writers are always anxious. I feel so relieved when I hear honest affirmations about my work coming from someone like you, Sakuya.
Tsuzuru: Besides, you’ve always been giving me hints since RomiJuli. Same goes for CROW, and this time with Tooru.
Tsuzuru: And above all that, it’s just plain fun to write with you in mind. This time, Tomohisa was just as fun to write for because his lines came out so naturally.
Tsuzuru: It’s a role that’s unlike anything you’ve had before, but that’s why I think you’ll rise to the challenge and give it your all.
Sakuya: Yeah. I really felt your trust in me and I’m really happy as an actor that you wrote Tomohisa as my role.
Tsuzuru: Of course I trust you. I want you to support me as co-lead. As long as you’re with me, I’ll probably be fine.
Sakuya: …Yeah!
Masumi: It’s almost showtime.
Citron: Even now Masumi is being a gatekeeper!
Tsuzuru: I’m glad. But it’s “timekeeper.”
Itaru: How about a few words from our lead.
Tsuzuru: Umm, I almost ruined myself as a writer during the slump that led me to this play, but…
Tsuzuru: The other day, when everyone was complimenting me on all my works--.
Tsuzuru: I was once again proud of the works I’ve written and the characters I’ve created, and I don’t want to ever forget that.
Tsuzuru: I know this might sound like self-flattery, or like I’m a doting parent, but I really love each and every one of the characters and stories I’ve created.
Tsuzuru: It’s not just because I wrote them, but also because everyone played their roles and breathed life into them.
Tsuzuru: I really like each of the characters in this show this time.
Tsuzuru: I think everyone standing right here in front of me in their costumes is so amazing…
Tsuzuru: I’m so happy to have all the actors I admire playing these roles. Once again, thank you, guys.
Tsuzuru: Let’s make this show another successful one and make it one of the stories we all remember and cherish.
Sakuya: Yeah!

(1) Sakuya misread “隘路” (pronounced “airo”) as “meiro”. He’s not flubbing the word in the same way Citron would, so I changed “impasse” to be spelt out as “impas-say” to show phonetically like he’s mispronouncing the word by putting too much emphasis on the “e”. Tsuzuru then corrects him with “im-pass” spelt out phonetically.
(2) Tsuzuru and Tasuku’s characters from “Run around the field.”
(3) Had no clue how to put this into English smoothly, but 753 (Shichi-go-san) is a Japanese festival that celebrates the growth of kids ages 7, 5, and 3. Typically the children are dressed up in kimonos, dresses, or suits, hence why Citron tried to say it.
