The Survivor (Their full, scavenger-given name includes the 'The') was separated from their family while traveling between colonies and stranded in the dangerous unpopulated wilds. Against all odds they managed to survive (and wander) far longer than they should have been able, but rather than reconnecting with their (or another) slugcat family, they instead made contact with one of the many wandering scavenger troops- But unfortunately not one that had ever met a slugcat nor had any idea what to make of a stranded one. Regardless the group gave it their best, ended up committing to the role of slugparents, and The Survivor and their troop still consider themselves close family long after Survivor finally reconnected with their sibling. (They're a bit of a mess though, understandably)

I had a suitemate in college who neglected her beta fish and I was in charge of feeding it while she was gone for like a week and I talked to it like it was a dog. It started to recognize my voice and do happy circles in its too-small fishbowl whenever I talked to it, up to the point when said suitemate suddenly moved rooms without a word. It was so dang cute and I wished so badly that I could take it off her hands and give it a good life but truth was I couldn't afford to take care of it and I was so depressed that I was afraid that I'd end up killing it from neglect. It didn't survive a year.

Fish are on the list of things I wish I could hug.

the thing is you have to get a good grade in being an art commissioner. you cannot be a bitch when paying for art. you have to be patient and nice. i have not been perfect in my years of paying other furries for art of my funny animals but i can, with confidence, say ive gotten a good grade. artist friends of mine agree im awesome and fankly the Keys to being Awesome at being a commissioner are just like. being nice and recognizing artists arent machines. theyre people who have their own lives and are not infront of their tablet drawing for everyone 24/7. youll find them posting about some game or movie when youve been waiting three weeks for something and thats fine. youll find them having difficulty getting something exactly like how it is in your brain because, like all people, they cannot read your mind. you gotta have everything ready and upfront and be ready to answer questions. its fine to be a little nitpicky and a little "sorry im not quite sure on this pose, could you do X Y and Z" and not be an asshole about it. after a certain number of "can you do X different" you have to realize its either not going to be exactly how you want it to be or the artist is going to want to kill you with hammers. and thats fine. i think artists have every right to want to kill you with hammers.

oh also another thing that bugs me about how kunikida gets characterized is how often poeple describe him as someone super polite who never swears lmao. he has one of the most vulgar speech patterns in the series, the most of the ada for sure. he only uses honorifics for fukuzawa, ranpo and yosano, being direct and unofficial with the others, regularly calls atsushi "brat" and uses familiar/rude pronouns (like ore/omae/kisama) and people think he'd tell someone off for saying fuck
