hi yall im back from the depths of writers block so heres a paragraph from my wip fic teehee 🤭 ( yes its a mike afton fanfic leave me alone )

one of the many ways which life is so unfair and cruel to me is that i do not have cool spidery elegant handwriting . in heaven (where i will go after i reanimate reagan's corpse just to kill him again) everything i write will look like field notes from a lesbian dowager with a suspicious interest in poisonous botany . and between the maddened sapphic scrawlings in the margins (where i am writing poetry about birds and nuts) there will be little watercolor diagrams of flowers also. and oh gosh so fine these little flowers will be

Im not much of a theorist so i can't really add much but I did notice something, maybe I'm reading into the it too much...

the theory was about SMG3's "villain self" vs "real self" but im thinking of it in this scene more like "not really him" vs "real self"

so...

If we're going by Shay's logic then this is his "half self" which means... he's still not being completely honest with smg4 and mario :(

oh man. i picked up the sidestory to @just-a-carrot's five-arc horror epic a couple days ago and i'm so glad i did. i'll probably be talking nonstop and/or drawing about it for days

Fully agree that the insane women are great. I love the hip teen who can snap you like a twig, cool girlboss guild leader who can snap you like a twig, and terrible yet entertaining person who can snap you like a twig. We have such a good diversity of women that I'd even forgive a love interest at this point.

It is genuinely a very cute work. A good palate cleanser for everything else. Definitely a reaction to Solo Leveling, since it is the exact opposite of Solo Leveling in every conceivable way while still having identical worldbuilding. The first chapter surprised me when it depicted just a warm and sincere and meaningful "I love you!" between two men, and that energy is maintained. It's actioney but sweet. The MC does not start out as Your Literal Mother and then transform into a badass who can beat anybody up - he says as Your Literal Mother, becomes very good at being Your Literal Mother, brainwashes you a bit?, and as a result in the moments when somebody kidnaps his cat and he does go apeshit, it's very satisfying. Very much more proof that a good supporting cast is everything.

It is funny to read this sweet and pretty straight-forward character-wise work and then immediately open up orv to read a chapter straight of kdj going absolutely insane and manipulating the Greek pantheon to steal a godhood. And you're like ah. orv is...really another level. Of insane. It is not normal behavior. I'm putting it next to Animorphs as a work that is genuinely uncrossover-able.

Obviously, I have a better version in my head. I would have tweaked a few things. I especially liked the idea of making Big Bro and Lil Bro estranged because of more than just...super shitty communication. Have them actually estranged because they have bad habits, they can be ugly to each other, they can get on each other's nerves. Have the gap be created naturally and have the fame and demon contract prevent a bridge from ever being built again. Genuine sibling shit. Give Big Bro MC actual regrets for how he treated him.

I would have the Yandere thing be new. Because in the new universe his brother is lowkey brainwashed into loving him simply and unconditionally and prettily - no more messiness, no more rough edges hurting each other. MC is no longer a person and is instead an abstract idea of perfection. And it's pretty easy to cut off the vague ideal of a brother's arm or dehumanize him. And it would involve MC realizing that he would have rather had the messiness and hurt and sharp edges than the perfection.

not to be about opera again but to be about opera again. as an art form it has the reputation of being super stuffy and something for snobs who don't know how to have fun only but honestly this was one of, perhaps even THE main theatrical entertainment for centuries. i wish people knew how hard these things can go and how engaging they can be. like characters kill and die and fight wars and (almost) commit human sacrifice left and right. characters fall in love they mourn they're ecstatic they cry they're furious it's an extremely dramatic and emotional art form! and i understand that opera does not appear approachable bc of the general conventions of the art form but i promise old works can be fun and engaging if you go watch them with some preparation beforehand (reading the libretto helps) - not to mention not all operas are old bc there are so many modern operas which engage with topical events! also the music slaps.

i think offering healthy alternatives to unhealthy coping mechanisms requires at the very least a rudimentary understanding of the unhealthy variety and why it is people choose them

the idea that teachers would make new transfer students stand up and like introduce themselves or whatever is soo fake bc i had a friend who transfered mid semester into my school and specifically one of my classes and not only did the teacher not force her to introduce herself but i didnt even know she transferred at all for like a good couple months of our friendship

after being rescued, whumpee has so many things they want to do after feeling like they lost precious time while in captivity. they frequently stay up all night doing a bunch of things like working on art or writing they were working on before being captured, reading books they would've already finished if they hadn't been captured, catching up on new seasons of shows they were watching or new installments in their favorite movie series, etc. eventually it gets to the point that caretaker has to limit their access to these things at night with the reminder that it's all still going to be there in the morning just to get whumpee to sleep.
