thinking about whumper putting whumpee in their will without their knowledge so then when whumper dies whumpee has all this stuff they need to take care of. they need to go back to the house/property where the whump occured and clean things up, sort through the chains and blades and all the other tools, see if there's anything they want to keep. do they do it alone or do they bring someone with them? do they actually give consideration to every item or do they get rid of everything. does this entire trip cause them to backslide or does it show them how far theyve come?

Whump, but the Whumper tries to be the Whumpee's friend, or is friendly in some aspect or way.
After a nasty punishment or horrifying ordeal, like one where the Whumpee is on the floor bleeding and sobbing and spitting up vomit and torn open, the Whumper will turn around as if they just arrived and ask the Whumpee with a fake sort of sincerity "hey, what happened? are you okay? we should get you fixed up, buddy! :(" and will immediately start doting on the Whumpee as if they were a child.
The Whumper cracking small self deprecating jokes during Whumpee's humiliation, the Whumper having a surprisingly good sense of humor when it comes to the Whumpee making a few lighthearted jabs, valuing a fighting spirit instead of breaking it, because the Whumper wants an entertaining pet best friend, NOT a "yes man".
The Whumper hugging and cuddling the Whumpee when the Whumpee follows the rules, cherishing and spoiling the Whumpee with gifts and fluffy pillows and trinkets, but in a stark black-or-white contrast, putting the Whumpee through inhumane atrocities for weeks on end in a cellar if they misbehave.
These 3 scenarios might end up with a few different Post-Whumpee's.
In the first scenario, the Post-Whumpee may be immediately wary of all medical help or hospitals, seeing it as a way to get into a constant cycle or torture and "check-ups". They may refuse help, hate infantilization, or become stubborn with traditional caretaking attempts. This would make caretaking... difficult, as the Caretaker would have to find ways to make it appear like they were "NOT TAKING CARE OF THEM AT ALL" so the Post-Whumpee doesn't hiss and back away.
In the second scenario, you may get a very... non traditional Post-Whumpee. Not afraid to complain and bitch, or crack jokes, or to talk back, or to be sarcastic... the Post-Whumpee may even be extroverted and gravitate towards where they can be the center of attention, to the point where some may doubt anything happened at all, they may even seem MORE confident. But... the second the Post-Whumpee is percieved as unfunny, or boring, or isn't given immediate attention... the Post-Whumpee associates that with the Whumper neglecting and punishing them for being "such a drag", and the Post-Whumpee will either do something dangerous to regain attention and "safety", or hide away and clam up altogether to avoid punishment, in contrast to their confident persona. Yiiiiikes.
In the third scenario, the Post-Whumpee would always be waiting for the other foot to drop. They may act like a spoiled child when others seem happy with them, maybe even demanding sweets and attention and to be cherished like the prince/princess/princeps they are, but becoming very withdrawn the second hostility is shown. In fact, maybe the spoiled child persona is a coping mechanism. Maybe they had to unlearn dignity, become a pet, well taken care of but still a pet, in order not to be deemed "bad" and locked in a cellar of some sort.
The 3 things these three scenarios may have in common is: the Whumpee may stockholm-syndrome-bond to the Whumper, or use their kinder aspects to justify the Whumpee's treatment. The Whumpees aren't quivering messes unless they're forgotten. They've all lost their dignity in some way, because what these Whumpers have in common is that they don't value control as much as they value entertainment.
idk it seems like a fun concept. torture blorbos for giggles.
LOOOOVVEEEE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. especially idea #2 for a post-whumpee.
this entire concept is so interesting because i think a lot of post-whump behavior you typically see is focused on whumpee trying to avoid punishment by being as invisible and inoffensive as they can but with this sort of scenario you get circumstances where whumpee's perceived best bet is to stand out and be interesting which is something i don't see a lot.
and again going back to the second type of post-whumpee, attention-seeking behavior as a form of self preservation is so deliciously complicated in this scenario because you've got someone who seems so confident that people might already be doubting that anything even happened to them, and then they do something that's clearly an attempt to bring attention back to them, which might reaffirm people's beliefs that nothing even happened to whumpee and they were just trying to get attention the whole time.
i can also imagine that this type of post-whumpee might struggle with the way they perceive themselves because they're putting on this funny, snarky, entertaining personality to keep themselves safe, but it's not really them. maybe their pre-whump personality was way more mellow and "boring." but whumper liked this new personality they learned to put on, and the people around them as they're trying to recover also laugh at all the jokes and witty remarks, so it sends the message that even if whumpee felt safe going back to how they were before, they shouldn't. but it also wouldn't even be as simple as just deciding to go back to how they were, because they got so used to protecting themselves with all the quips and jokes that they can't even tell anymore what's supposed to be a "true" part of their personality and what's not. imagine how it must feel for whumpee to act confident and funny on the outside, but all of this behavior feels like a trap. i just think that's really intriguing because normally when i see a whumpee who feels trapped by their own post-whump behavior it's stuff like being unable to speak up or be outgoing in any way, but with this situation it's the other way around, where whumpee wishes they could stop doing those things sometimes. imagine a "traditional" post-whumpee meeting this type of post-whumpee.

after escaping, whumpee relocates and starts a completely new life. they promise themselves they're not going to let anyone get too close, but they meet someone who seems to want to get to know them. they start off by trying to subtly avoid giving any information besides the basics, but before they know it they're making exceptions to their own rules, figuring it won't hurt to share just a little bit more. one day, whumpee gives some thought to their relationship with this person, and they realize that they've made a friend, and that it feels good to have someone in their corner.

whumpee after an exhausting cry:
- their entire face is dried out from the tears
- there might be snot crusted on their nose
- there might be snot/tears dripped onto their shirt/whatever or whoever they might have been clinging to throughout the whole thing
- headache.
- if they wear glasses, their glasses might have stains from tears that fell onto the lenses and dried up
- they have strands of hair stuck to their face with tears
- their eyelashes are stuck together from tears
- their muscles are tired from all of the trembling

been thinking about something like this:
there are two rescued whumpees who are identical twins (or clones created in a lab, the point is they're identical). they've come a long way since their initial rescue and now live together, supporting each other through day to day life.
whumper finds them and attacks both of them, killing one and seriously injuring the other. a friend/caretaker finds them and in the rush of getting the surviving whumpee to the hospital, they mix up who's who, so they think the dead whumpee is the one who survived and the living whumpee is the one who died.
the surviving whumpee wakes up in the hospital the next day (or maybe even longer after the attack). caretaker greets them but doesn't call them by any name, so whumpee makes the reasonable assumption that caretaker knows which twin they are.
in the conversations that ensue, caretaker and whumpee manage to make it quite long without using the names of either of the twins, so the misunderstanding isn't realized until way later. i think this could honestly go on pretty long. when both characters assume the other character knows who they're talking about, they manage to go a while without using names (maybe it's even painful for both to say the name of the twin they think is dead, so they're both avoiding it which makes them avoid revealing the mistake). entire conversations happen with only pronouns or "your/my brother/sister/sibling" being used.
finally, caretaker calls whumpee by the wrong name or refers to the dead whumpee by the wrong name. whumpee is confused and questions it (or maybe they assume it was a mistake and the whole process goes on even longer) and the mistake is uncovered. caretaker and other friends have to completely re-process the whole situation because they've been mourning the wrong person.
#sorry this is long and confusing#whump#whump prompt#whump prompts#whump writing#whump idea#whumpblr#whumpee#whumper#rescued whumpee#recovered whumpee

pain in the abdomen, even when it's not too severe, really is enough to slow your whumpee down considerably. like it could be bruises, old injuries that didn't heal right, hunger, whatever you want, it's gonna mess em up.

i love when a rescued/recovered whumpee is seen as so strong and capable (and resistant to any attempts at help) that even when something bad happens nobody's really worried about them because they always handle these things on their own.
and then something happens that results in whumpee being a shaking, sobbing mess and it makes their team realize that they were never as okay as they tried to portray themselves as.

idk i think we need to have more characters who swear they're cursed.
and they don't even hide it, this is something they're very open about because they're so certain it's true that it doesn't even feel like a strange thing to say, it's just another piece of information about them like their hometown or how many siblings they have.
and all their friends poke fun at them for it and don't take it too seriously until something happens that suddenly makes it seem like maybe the curse wasn't such an outlandish concept after all.
#i love cursed characters#especially in a setting where curses/magic/that type of stuff exists but in a way that the rest of the world can still deny it#whump#whump prompt#whump prompts#whump writing#whump idea#writing#whumpblr#whumpee#whumper

make your recovered whumpee's support system DIE 😊 and they don't even know how to deal with it because the person they would usually go to is the exact person they can never see again.
#what noooo im not talking about a certain show..... what makes you think that#really good way to put your whumpee through the wringer all over again#also very painful for everyone involved including yourself#whump#whump prompt#whump prompts#whump writing#whump idea#whumpblr#whumpee#whumper#rescued whumpee#recovered whumpee

Whumpee nurturing the pet and finally recovering themselves until whumper finds them and harms the pet. Then whumpee just... flips. Suddenly they're no longer interested in healing. They just want the burn the world that was cruel even to the only good thing in their life.
THIS. and whumpee's loved ones want to help them out of this mindset but even they themselves question how whumpee could ever want to fit themselves into a world where these things happen.

rescued whumpee adopting a pet that's also gone through some shit 🫶 they understand each other and on bad days the thought of their animal helps whumpee push through. they have a strong bond and whumpee feels incredibly accomplished every time their pet shows new displays of trust.

i love when a stoic rescued whumpee becomes more open because of a fever, drunkenness, etc and their friends/caretakers are freaked out by how wrong it feels to see them so carefree and open about their past.
like idk i just love the idea of the caretakers realizing that whumpee isn't acting like their usual self and if they let them share now they're going to regret it later so they try their best to just distract them or get them to bed. and the caretakers are curious as hell about whumpee's past but they just know it wouldn't be right to find out like this.
