#im so bad at like. team comps and builds

I've been running Kaeya and Diluc together for nearly 2 years, and I like to think their builds are pretty good. Team comps and rotations are just as important for good damage as character builds are (eg, with a good team set up, my Kaeya hits for 60k. With a bad one, he hits for 10k at most)

If you have him, Bennett is an excellent team mate for Kaeya and Diluc. If not, Barbra with thrilling tales of dragon slayers works.

As for the 4th slot, this one's pretty flexible. An anemo character like Sucrose or kazuha is best. Another cryo character like rosaria is also an option, especially when trying to boost Diluc's damage. Another pyro character like xiangling would work to boost Kaeya's damage. Sucrose is the best f2p friendly option here though.

When it comes to rotations, if Diluc is the one triggering melt he's gonna be doing the most damage. If Kaeya is triggering melt he's the one doing the damage.

Diluc's build is really straightforward. 4 piece crimson witch is basically always best (the set was designed for him). He wants crit, atk% and EM. An atk%, crit or em claymore will be good on him (although crit claymores are hard to come by f2p)

Kaeya's build is more complicated. One of his strengths is how flexible he is as a character. But that makes it more difficult to find out the best way to build him for how you use him.

Burst DPS - melt: 4 piece emblem of severed fate or 2piece blizzard and 2piece nobeless. He needs crit, Energy recharge, EM and atk%.

Burst DPS - freeze: 4 piece blizzard. He needs far less crit rate with this build, especially if you have any constalations. He needs crit DMG, energy recharge and atk%

Sub-DPS/cryo applicator - his personal damage is less important here. He just needs enough ER to get his burst back consistently. Artifact set is also less important, but 4 piece embalem would probably be best.

Physical DPS - 2 piece bloodstained and 2 piece pale flame. Or 2 piece Phys set (like pale flame) and 2 piece atk set (like gladiators final). Or (weirdly) 4 piece blizzard. If running with blizzard, he only really needs crit DMG and atk%. If using another set combination, he needs crit rate and crit DMG as well as atk%

Atk% weapons are the best bet for Kaeya as a f2p. EM may work better for a melt Kaeya, and if you have any crit swords then it makes it easier to balance crit ratios. But 5* weapons are not needed, and weapons banner is a scam.

Anyway this was really long. I'm a bit of a try hard when it comes to character building and combat lmao.

i got bennet recently! i have him c2 i think? i haven't gotten around to building him though. i think he's still lvl 1 actually. as for barbara i have her on my team for healing and hydro support so i can freeze the enemies,, my 3rd slot (barbara is 4th lmao) is kujou sara because i wanted a bow character. even though im aware anemo would be a good choice here augh,,,,,,,,,, and rosaria! i had her on my team for a while but switched her out because i just. needed to shoot things sometimes? and wanted more elemental reactions i guess idk the thought process and i was low ar (not like im super smarter now but.. good excuse nonetheless)

+ i have a phys dmg % sword on kaeya and it works i think but i like throwing ice not just stabbing people</3 i want to give him one with the stats u said but it'll take soooo long for me to get my hands on one.

ive never been a fan of multiple teams (which means end game fighting content with two teams is kinda rough) but in all honesty i have enough characters fully built that i probably could.

like look at tighnari he has a good weapon. hes lvl 80. he has ok artifacts.

ahdiuhuasdh i have so much i probably have to do in this game. (kind of why im not the biggest fan open world exploration games like this and wuwa. its just. the story is keeping me hooked. its just that sometimes you play so much you get burnt out which is what i did i think. and i dropped the game for months lOL. then sumeru fontaine go brr. more burn out but story cool. BRRRR)

its like. cause theyre both HUGE time sinks. i give star rail a pass because you can set it to auto and do other stuff while its grinding for you ok

the hsr swarm person: im level 66 which is why im so confused why im suffering so much; using my gorjus maxed out jingyuan, luocha 6/8/8/8 + all traces unlocked, seele with an honestly really bad build and preservation mc for survival who also isnt the best

im leveling up il dan heng rn but i have NO destruction mats and even less light cone level up mats so i guess we'll be grinding

so i guess a good team then would be ildh luocha and who else??

take my words w a grain of salt because i've really only managed to clear level three a few times and almost beat difficulty 4 but i would assume the main issues is that you need to spend your resources on a preservation unit and debuffer / support.

for jy ESPECIALLY because he's very vulnerable to crowd control. your preservation MC is viable but i'd recommend march 7th over them (or gepard if you managed to get him). a lot of the content in swarm will want to oneshot you so damage mitigation is more important than healing in my experience.

(which makes sense because fu xuan is next and her entire kit is damage mitigation but kjfdksd i digress)

i would say with your current team, drop seele off of your team and use luocha primarily for breaking imaginary shield. replace seele with a semi-built debuffer or support (the best option for both JY and DH IL is tingyun, but pela is also very viable for both. asta also works very well but more for jy than dh il. yukong is Fine but her kit is imo tricky and shes also kind of skill point greedy)

so for team comp recc jing yuan, flex support / debuff (tingyun works best for jy and dh il, as does pela.) / preservation / shielder / luocha.

for dh il i use dh il, tingyun AND pela, and then gepard for best results

after that - it's mostly about choosing the correct path for you based on your team comps. i don't have a lot of experience with elation path in swarm but i hear it does well for jy so you'd have to try it.

you can use destruction path for dh il since you have luocha but i do not use it much since i think it works better for self-sustain characters and i find it very tricky to use. its not impossible but its kind of a suicide mission since it mostly focuses on hp consumption.

me personally, i universally always go for the preservation or remembrance paths, abundance also works very well for this. preservation is preferred for me since i have a crazy stacked gepard lmao. mix preservation with some healing or debuffing blessings and it basically keeps you alive no matter what

remembrance (aka freeze path) is also pretty good because well. it freezes everything and if something is frozen it cannot hurt you but it only works if you have someone like pela, march or geppie.

abundance works well but you have luocha so it might not be as necessary for you. still i would say the blessings for abundance in swarm are wayyy better than the normal SU. it's kind of up to you

either way, always try to go for things that contribute to your path though because once you hit max you can combine paths as well and get more bonuses. having a lot of path resonance is good.

ALSO MAKE SURE YOU READ EACH BLESSING CAREFULLY!! i know that is obvious but its a good reminder. understanding exactly what stats you have can make or break your run i find

also and this is just my personal experience but i will always choose curios over blessings if i have a chance because i think curios have better universal effects. blessings can be random but curious are imo more consistent.

when it comes to sets id say her best would be ashblazing, either full 4pc or 2pc with either firesmith for fire dmg bonus or musketeer/prisoner for more atk, you mostly wanna focus on her follow up attacks and triggering those. ornament id go for would b inert salsotto to boost those follow up attacks even more

for stats id build her as a regular dps focusing on atk and crit, but with some bonus speed and maybe a bit of ehr in the substats since applying burn on enemies boosts her dmg a bit, but its not that important because of her bonus ability tbh

so basically crit body, atk boots (or speed if youre going for more sub dps or can sacrifice some atk), fire dmg orb, atk rope

reading her kit makes me realize she does a lot btw. damn. i want her even more now.

for trace priority id go ult>skill>talent>basic atk, id put her talent higher but her skill is definetly gonna be used more than talent so yea good to have it high lvl

when it comes to team comps shes great with anyone that also deals fire dmg since she boosts that + gets a boost when hitting burnt enemies, having a healer is probably better than shielder for her since she also does more dmg when above 80%hp, tho if ur shield is unbreakable it works too lmao, add some support on top of that and ur set i guess! as long as you have a way to break weakness she should be good :3

Splatoon stuff

Side order to me (and probably only me) is somewhat disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s probably gonna be my most played mode from henceforth and i always love a good rougelite sandbox, but there’s just too many strings attached, and not enough build control. Like my main gripe is how you can’t even just create a palette of your own weapon and preferred chip combo or easily make a build without having to jump through the hoops of max bias and weapon type you probably don’t wanna play. Like each weapon can become an uber powerful murder machine by all rights but sometimes i just don’t want to have to play a weapon im not in the mood just for better chance at certain chips for a build idea. On top of that’s, i think it’s insane that it just only ends at 30 with 2 mid bosses. like for the first runs on each palette i understand, it’s configuring it and all that. But afterwards, the fact that you can’t make it any more difficult for challenge’s sake/have an endless/extended mode to allow for a glimpse/fraction of the power you had on the first palettes clear is crazy to me. Like why would you give us that taste of power and just dash any hope of reaching it permanently. a lot of things in the handling just kinda make no sense to me, really feels like they’re working against the player experience for no reason other than to make it less customizable or extreme for no reason considering it is only contained to the single player pve mode. Aside from that gripe, glad there’s a mode i can just sink my time and play single player splatoon in that isn’t alterna since it becomes increasingly obvious every now and then as a solo player that true hell is a team that has no idea what that doing in a team game.

Following that note i’m pretty happy there’s now a mode i can just play without having to bank on my teammates, as mentioned before. Because lately i’ve just been having awful queues and matchmaking. Like i should not be losing every other waver in SR and its crushing getting back to back losses with overall, and popular target. Like yeah i was on my game but like that does not mean shit when goobertron max (bless their soul) is going 2 and 9 on short range shooter with sub 700 paint. Like i’m all aware how diverse the player base is skill wise, especially when playing during the peak of the season before anyone has catalog 100, but like i can’t keep getting washed by catalog cadets at level 35+. Like not only does it feel bad but getting those gold medals on loss chains really kicks me in the teeth. No shade to my team they’re just there after all, but the medals really are just a “tough shit rockstar, carry harder” and man. Like, true but sometimes i wanna just be able to play without having to consider for my team. I haven’t been able to get a good stamper game in like a week because every time we just get out-comped so hard 😭 due to the way they keep nerfing the damn stamper (WHY!) and it becomes more and more reliant on a team that can accommodate its weaknesses(increasingly bad ink efficiency, paint coverage, attack size, and) exchange for its strength (oppressive range, damage, and sub combo with semi consistent mid/backline pressure in the special) I’m hoping maybe the final (cause this is PROBABLY the final season and final patch with all that 2 years of content stuff they yapped about) season not only blesses me with the ONE and only possible stamper buff or another viable 3rd stamper option/splatana type (albeit it only looks like we’re getting second kits at most) since stamper noveau (they finally decided to admit that it was noveau and that neo WAS a fuck up and NOT intentional (idk why the hell they tried to double down on that shit) as cool as it is, ain’t doing shit with that mist. Like it’s genuinely insulting. You give stamper what could be one of, if not, it’s best sub in burst bomb, and then you give it mist in kit 2 like that isn’t some bullshit. Crab is cool and can be super good for your team with anchoring and range but the fact that you have to lose burst bomb (or just in general, the abillity to poke with/bomb combo which is a splatana staple (especially on wiper with torpedo)) is nowhere near worth it since you dont gain similar or even comparable reward from the mist, it burns more ink to use, and it doesn’t even provide utility for your team the same way (burst bomb can damage combo very well with your team and also paint the floor around them helping their escape) So hopefully in the season of what is 100% gonna be the deep cut season, where they introduce the last of shiver and frye’s weapon types (every weapon has a new option except stringer and splatana, wouldn’t be shocked if they just didn’t give one but since it’s happened every season this WOULD be the perfect and only time if any to make my wish come true and maybe make stringer even cooler. pretty please splat devs), have the deep cut splatfest, and shiver inevitiabky wins in landslide victory; that they end it on something good instead of permanently shelving the splatana legacy under the shadow that used to be patch zero stamper

(Just now realizing maybe i am doing too much side order, every palette at least once (clears doesn’t count present clears) that many jellotons is ridiculous, also turns out there’s phone wallpaper i didnt pick up for this so neat. i never use them though)

Quick question since I got Childe too and am trying to run him in hyperbloom with Kuki, Nahida, and dragon bf, does 4p HoD beat out 2pc HoD with another attack set like 2p set that gives about 18%ATK and has okay substats? I had seen advice in going with the 2p but now wonder if they were thinking of a vaporize team only. I had ungodly bad luck with rolling for HoD stats and substats and wonder if I should go back to the grind for a full 4p if it’s significant. Anyways sorry for the stat dump and thank you for the info already from another’s comment!

i dont think theres much difference if you go 4p or 2p for the overall comp, other for his own damage? its hard to see a difference when i tried both builds in my hyperbloom team bc theres just numbers everywhere lmfaoo but iirc hyperbloom triggers once electro hits and the dmg is calculated by the electro chars EM (raiden or kuki), childe is basically there to apply hydro and deal damage as the main dps and generate seeds which are triggered over and over again w electro. if you go 4p or 2p is prob not that important although i can imagine ppl going 2p to give him the atk buff he usually gets from vape teams since theyre all around supporting and buffing childe for max damage

again, im def no pro but i would just say go for whatever good set you have rn, 2p HOD/2p atk is good

(i just know that overall, 4p has always been his best set; 2p atk sets give permanent 18% more atk while 4p HOD increases your normal/charged damage by 30% for 15secs after you E. childe is rlly quick in killing so its basically a lot of damage in short time which is why its a set fit for him usually. but in the end builds always depend on the comp youre running)

i dont rlly keep up with ccs and i just kept to my usual childe build while adjusting my thoma, raiden and kuki for dendro teams, so im sorry if i cant help much/ dont know much on that !

as for building him, artifact wise u would want:

sands: em

goblet: dendro dmg bonus

circlet: crit (rate/dmg)

around 300 total em is good for him, but ofc u can go over for more reactions !! (tho ur main em drivers would be the ones causing the reactions such as kuki or someone who needs lots of em anyway like nahida) and try to find a balance between em and atk in his overall build, since he split scales :'D (which is why around 33 em is the rec !!)

4pc gilded is also his best set, but thats only recommended if u have another dendro on the team with 4pc deepwood for the dendro shred !! if not, then he can also have 4pc deepwood if he is the only dendro character, or have a hybrid of 2pc em x2 / 2pc em + 2pc dendro dmg bonus

weapon wise u have a lot of options !! for instance his best in slot is top choice if u have it (tho its a pretty niche weapon), and other options that can be viable are:

5 star: jade cutter, mistsplitter reforged, haran geppaku futsu

4 star: blackcliff longsword, toukabou shigure (umbrella), iron sting, the black sword (if ur a bp buyer), the alley flash, sapwood blade, xiphos' moonlight (tbh i would only rec the last two if u want consistent burst uptime, but other than that u dont really need them !!)

team wise hes super versatile as a driver !! as haitham is a selfish dps he wants the most on-field time in the team, so the other 3 slots are either:

a dendro character with 4pc deepwood for the dendro shred + battery

an electro character with an em/hybrid em build for spread, aggravate or hyperbloom reactions

a hydro character with off-field hydro application for (hyper)bloom (or burgeon if u wanna play that comp)

a shielder and/or healer (this is optional, but it can also be one of the previous roles too !! e.g. kuki for electro application + healing)

mix and match and see which one works for u or u have the most fun with, since thats the most important thing ^^

(for reference, i run haitham with dendro mc with favonius sword, kuki, and zhongli/xingqiu !!)

now for my disappointment of a haitham build as a haitham kisser and main which admittedly isnt that bad but can be better :'D (do not perceive my crit rate and defense and goblet ur eyes lie)

myrtle and texas for the vanguarding, myrtle can give really good dp and texas has good arts dmg while generating dp on skill 2.

april and meteorite for snipers, though you might want to build another anti-air sniper ( blue poison for example ) because most your snipers are going to do early on is snipe drones, and the anti-air sniper priorities are good for that.

breeze and myrrh for healing!!

for defenders use gummy and any protector defender! bubble is really good. i don't recommend fortress defenders like firewhistle quite yet because right now your main reason for defenders is the block, and fortress defedners really do not want to block ( liskarm is a better option if you want dps from your defenders )

the last four just treat as flexible slots and fill according to stage requirements ( always read before entering a stage ) but a good option every time is to put offensive in those slots. here's some

phantom as your helidrop unit. he can get rid of inconvenient targets for you. can operate independently of others and can also bait attacks if they'll be too much for your defenders

lappland does great arts damage on skill 2, but it can be unreliable because auto-activation. ( if you need more consistent arts damage, use astesia. ) lappland however can silence enemies e.g she doesn't let them do their special skills. example: exploding spiders don't explode anymore when silenced

click or steward as caster! great dps' to melt high defense units steward is better with his targeting ( as he targets the enemies with highest def first ) but click has better dps overall

siege may be a vanguard but she does great damage with her s2. i've seen clears where she's treated as a helidrop as well despite her redeployment time being longer

iffff i understand this right! if you mean level then it kinda depends on you. most players set their own baseline! for me it's elite 1, level 50 because that's what you need for most of the event bosses at least. you can also just look at the level recommendations for main story levels and go after that. some characters are fine leaving at e1 because their value doesn't go up much, but if you use a unit a lot, e2ing them is not bad! ( except frostleaf who is so abysmal that she gets worse at e2. there Is exceptions to this rule, although few ) for 6☆'s it's most often pretty good to e2 them because they gain a new skill and a new talent. i recommend prioritizing your lower rarity and carry units first though. your brain is going to melt when you see the e2 requirements for 6☆ operators.

of course dearest!! this is just my personal opinion and im not a.. "professional" theorycrafter (i don't look at calcs or sheets lol) so keep that in mind!!

so! first, the weapon. if you're f2p, the widsith is one of the safest options bc it provides a good amount of crit dmg, which you'll want for him! otherwise if you've been playing long enough and have dodoco tales (an event exclusive weapon, i think it was the first GAA so back when kazuha got released LMAO) it's also a good one but only with a specific artifact set, ill explain in a bit. if you get the battle pass then you can go for the solar pearl, i personally use it bc the passive (NA/CA buff when skill/ult is used & skill/ult buff when NA/CA are used) is v cool. also crit rate which is nice. his best weapon is his signature tho so if you have it LUCKY give it to me please :]

artifact sets! he has one that's tailored for him, i can't remember the name but it's the newest one in the desert <3 it gives anemo dmg on 2p and normal attacks dmg & speed bonus with the 4p, provided you use a charged attack before. hence why dodoco tales isn't too bad, bc it buffs it!!

alternative sets: 2p vv 2p his signature one / 2p anemo 2p atk / 4p shimenawa if you like it spicy (and have him at c0 or c1 at most, if you have his c2 then shime is trickier bc you'll want to ult right before his skill ends)

for the stats, classic atk/anemo/crit. now keep in mind that he ascends in crit rate, so you can go easy on the crit rate substats.

you should aim for ~75/80% crit rate if you can, but there's a twist! one of his passives gives him a 20% crit rate bonus if he infuses his skill with cryo, so if you're using him with a cryo character then you can go with like 65% crit rate for comfort. get as much crit dmg as you can, but don't neglect his atk 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨

as for energy recharge, id say 125-130% if you have faruzan at c4 or more (she also needs favonius bow and at least 50% of crit rate for its passive so keep that in mind! generally speaking a crit rare hat and some crit rate substats are enough), and around 150-160% otherwise!!

for team comps, i play him with a few. if you want to test his max dmg, mona/faruzan/bennett is the best one in my experience, altho if you have c4 jean then you can test it (and give her to me after bc i need her. desperately). but he's pretty versatile otherwise! some of his best supports/sub dpses are layla (cryo + very good shield), yelan (hydro & na, xingqiu works as well tho), faruzan and bennett to no one's surprise. he's also good in taser (electro/hydro) and freeze teams!!

and finally for his talents, id say na/skill then ult in terms of priority! triple crowning him is worth it to me but im deliriously in love with him so my input is a little bit biased

i couldnt see thoma sticking to one main category, i feel like every stream hes doing something new, and hes somehow pretty good at anything he tries out.

his commentary is really what gets people to stick around for his content, he can make anything sound interesting.

think of him as a steamer like rtgame! hes got really fun sims and hitman series, games you dont think could be made funny, but then he does and its overall a really great time.

hes got so many inside jokes from all the games hes played, youve got to be there for every stream otherwise you miss out heavily.

nobody even knew what he looked like for awhile because he didnt have a facecam, but once he started using one his viewers went up by 100k, no joke.

rosaria is meant to deal physical damage - of course she can be a cryo damage dealer, but just like xinyan, physical damage is more convenient with the nature of their skills.  it’s too early to definitively say what rosaria’s mechanics are, so i’ll just comment on your team’s elemental resonance and synergy: two cryo gives +15% crit rate against enemies affected by cryo.  bennett and childe is already a good combo, great for vaporize and big damage.  you also have a freeze comp going on sans bennett.  rosaria could be your dps whenever childe switches back into ranged form!  so i think so far your team is pretty solid :0

i have heard of him yes!!  admittedly though i don’t really watch a lot of his content . . . all of the things i’ve heard about his videos, though, have been very positive!  in-depth and explains the nuances between different artifacts, weapons, etc.  i believe he’s (mid)core with how he explains things as well . . . ?  overall someone who i’d trust if i was lost on a genshin topic.

subdps: 

weapons: primordial jade cutter/skyward blade > sacrificial sword > festering desire.

artifact sets: 4piece heart of depth > 2piece heart of depth + 2piece noblesse. 

artifact main stats: hp flower, atk feather, atk% timepiece, hydro damage bonus goblet, crit rate/damage circlet

artifact substat prio: crit rate/damage > atk% > hp% > energy recharge.

support: 

weapons: skyward blade > sacrificial sword > festering desire.

artifact sets: 4piece noblesse > 2piece heart of depth + 2piece noblesse.

artifact main stats: hp flower, atk feather, hp% timepiece, hydro damage bonus goblet, hp% circlet

yes!  childe is still worth pulling.  let me put this on a scale, hm . . . if diluc is the best dps in the game, a 9/10 on the scale, then childe is like . 7.5/10??? even if he doesn’t have constellations.  his aoe (in my opinion) is actually more than diluc’s due to riptide procs.  he also has amazing synergy with bennett, even when not ulting.  my point with bringing up childe’s constellation lock is that there’s just so much more he can do with them than without - c0 childe and c6 childe are not the same character, unlike c0 vs c6 keqing (hahaha someone fight me over this).  

stringless is currently venti’s best gacha bow, besides skyward harp, but the new 5star weapon elegy for the end is looking to be venti’s own 5star weapon.  so weapon prio for venti would go elegy of the end > stringless > skyward harp > favonius warbow imo. 

for childe, skyward harp > viridescent hunt > rust > stringless, but only stringless if you build bennett!  explanation here.

Istg, your such a good help when it comes to genshin.

qiqi is the better healer - 5stars have higher base stats than 4stars.  qiqi scales off of atk, while barbara scales off of hp.  qiqi’s skill can also apply the physical debuff superconduct because it’s electro, whereas barbara’s hydro skill cannot apply debuffs. 

same logic kind of applies with their ults, with the addition that qiqi can just quick cast and switch out to have her allies attack enemies who are marked, continuously gaining health until the mark wears off, while barbara’s ult heal value is fixed. 

and yes, you are really lucky if you get a 5star within 70 pulls - much less 30!!  and about the “people are talking about getting a good five star in ninety pulls”, this is true.  90 pulls is hard pity, and there is a chance to get a 5star between 76-80 pulls.  getting a 5star in less than 76 pulls is rare enough already, so the fact that you got 2 within 30 (when the pull rate for a 5star is 0.6% - not even a full percent) is amazing.

keep white tassel, especially if it’s r5!  don’t use dragonspine spear because the physical damage bonus on hutao is icky.  r5 white tassel beats out favonius lance on all regards imo as well, since the white tassel r5 passive increases normal attack damage by 48%.  yes, even if it’s a 3star weapon, i’ve seen lots of hutao players excel with it.  so it seems as if white tassel r5 is your best option so far!

HSADLJFSDFD YEAH?  his playstyle doesn’t take long to get used to though :0 it’s just about counting your seconds or getting a feel for when you should switch him back to ranged form so your skill cd isn’t too long.  he also has a lot of repetitive terminology in his kit LOL thanks mhy ;; but i promise playing him is easier than it sounds :0

hmmm ill either have to drag someone back in or dps build a random character... until ayaka comes out bc i need her- but that wont be until 1.7 ish? speaking of that what happened to the rumors abt the chasm patch- anyways i just swapped in kaeya... so now its zhongli albedo xinyan kaeya... and kaeya is leeching off dionas artifacts and albedos second sword...

oooo now im sad- brain pls just let me main the characters i like- i think im gonna bring tartaglia back... tartaglia zhongli/xiangling xinyan and kaeya.. that should last until ayaka i think..... ahhhh i hate this.. its even worse than when i stopped maining tart in favor of zhongli. might finally build jean tho.... kinda sad bc i just finished building xinyan (╥﹏╥) but with tart ill have two maxed nd i already feel bad with one...

i could... yanfei xiangling diona kaeya.... but ill have to level and dps build yanfei... and i rlly want to level ayaka as soon as i get her... i usually dont bother with this until after i max out my dps....
