idk if you answer asks like this but like.. my name’s elliot and i chose it bc it’s close to my deadname and i felt that would b easier but apparently now it’s become a ‘stereotypical’ trans guy name and i.. hate that. so much. im thinkin bout changin it but before i do i want input like have you met a lot of trans guys named elliot? or heard that it’s a stereotypical trans guy name? also can u list some male names starting w E for me if i do decide to change it sorry this is weird

No worries, it’s not weird at all! To answer your first question, I know two people named Elliot. One is trans and one is cis, so that might affect my viewpoint here:

I do think Elliot can seem like a “stereotypical name” in the way that you’re saying, but I also think you have to be pretty familiar with trans culture to think of that. It’s a quite common name on its own (#180 in the US in 2016, and Elliott was #192) and will probably get even more popular in the next few years. 

So if you feel like Elliot fits you and is a good name for you, I really think that can outweigh it being a stereotypical name to some people. Just look at how many famous people are named Elliot who aren’t trans, and that’s only the people with a Wikipedia page.

However, if you do decide to change it because it bothers you, that’s perfectly understandable as well! Here are some masculine names that start with E:
