The world looks different today. I can't quite place my finger on it, but the air feels cool. The roads look clean and the buildings like they've been scrubbed and repainted. All the trees have new leaves and they boast a gorgeous fresh green. And the sky. My god the sky is like a princess. Rose gold crown and glowing yellow dress, floating away like mist on the grass. And it's bright pink and soft blue, sharp clouds and fuzzy diffused sun. I can’t get in enough of this. Gorgeous purples and blinding whites. You are beautiful.
Something about this makes me think we'll make it after all. That despite everything, if today I enjoyed reading the 11 chapters as planned, and that all those chapters told me happiness, hope, forgiveness, are right at my fingertips, it makes me feel that we're okay. We'll be okay.
Look at how far i've come. Look at the velvet in the sky. Look at how lovingly the wind kisses me. Look at how crisply my braids have stayed the night. Yesterday may have been horrible but today the birds are flying home. I hope you have a happy and safe journey.
I'm glad poems like The Orange exist. I'm glad evenings come everyday. I'm glad to be here.

The elder men spoke low. They took a vote and said no.
They turned around real slow. Where did they go? Where did they go?
And the question oh, the question: can the kid keep his eyes, if the fire doesn't die?
They said no.
