Hey. Ive been following you for a while and yk just friendly neighborhood kid trying to get a following

I try and write, but i was wondering how to start bringing up my account as to how to get my writing up and about, as well as like what formatting i should try out first in the begining (like blurbs, 1 para descriptives, one shots) (i dont do x yn it unnerves me)

... Honestly im a bit confused and lost and ur a huge deal to me so some advice to the fan if you will :>

hey hey! keep in mind that i'm just one person out there who writes, so take everything i say with a grain of salt, but i will do my best to give advice :]

i think the absolute main thing when it comes to writing is that you HAVE to write things that you yourself enjoy writing. a while ago, there was a fic i started for a fandom, and it got the attention of a pretty popular person in the fandom space, who was super super excited for me to continue it. it ended up never getting a second chapter, because while that external support was nice, i was never truly in love with the concept of the fic and honestly found myself more and more stressed at the prospect of working on something i didn't care about.

getting support for the things you create is amazing-- everyone loves validation and getting to have a community of readers is so so nice-- but you have to love what you're creating, not just go after what you think people might want. and it took me personally a while to learn that but once i did, i started enjoying the things i wrote way way more, and i think people who read the works i made could tell that.

in terms of the /kind/ of writing you put out there, i haven't noticed one type of piece getting more attention than another. i recommend that if you post a piece, you give some kind of header with the title of it, if it involves characters list the main characters involved (if it involves OCs you could describe them briefly but i am not experienced in posting original works on tumblr so i can't really speak to that), list off any major content warnings (i.e. death, core, etc.), and give an approximate word count. that way, especially with one shots, people know the length of what they're about to read and can set aside time accordingly for it.

when you do that, also, you can then tag for those things! I'm not the best at tagging my writing in all honesty, so I'm not sure of all the tips and tricks there, but I think you can get a lot out of tagging the main characters involved (if a character only shows up as a brief reference in 1 line, i don't recommend tagging them). past that, you can always look in the tumblr writing tag and see how other people tag their things; that might give you a better idea than i can.

also, if you do start to get people reading and enjoying your writing, you can make a tag list! i'm ... also notoriously bad at using mine, but basically if you get a few works up you can ask if people want to be tagged any time you post a new piece of writing. that's a good way to have people consistently look at things!

last tip i'll give is that you should absolutely reblog the FUCK out of your own writing, because that seriously does help. a lot of people also tag on "reblogs are appreciated" or "reblogs > likes" to encourage other people to share their writing. don't go up to someone directly and ask them to reblog something/why they haven't, since that is a pretty uncomfortable experience, but on the actual post itself i think it's fine to say that you would appreciate people who like the post to also reblog it! just a gentle nudge y'know.

also this is super minor but one of the good things about reblogging your own writing is that you can queue things (albeit i have never used tumblr's queue system so again, grain of salt), and hit different timezones! 4-6 PM EST is the time range i usually shot for with posting anything i wanted people to see, but i have no idea if that's actually the best time, so you can use self reblogs to experiment

1. When are you usually online?  I tend to be online during certain hours when I work, and later at night. (Think like... 9-10 pm EST) I don’t get on much because my son takes up the majority of my time and attention. 

2. What verses are you involved in outside of this page? Aside from tumblr rp, I rp on discord. I don’t really have other muses that I write in public anywhere... Though, I do have other muses. 

3. What is your biggest RP pet peeve? Letting threads become miles long with replies. Especially if each reply is only like one or two lines and you never cut it... (Not cutting here or there is totally fine, and I don’t mind cutting threads for my partner, but to never do it... oof) Aside from that, it’s when people assume everything about my muse. Like, yes, she’s a woman who isn’t very good at physical combat... But that doesn’t make her weak or stupid, for example. 

4. Are you drawn to specific types of muses? Motherly types, for sure. Also women with serious tempers. Or sunshiney girls. 

5. Are there recurring themes in your writing that people might not notice? I dunno if people wouldn’t notice it, but I try to be pretty nuanced in how I write Bells. She’s a person, after all, and I want to write her as being contradictory and even hypocritical sometimes. Not everything she does will make sense, even to her, and I like writing that sort of thing.

6. What are your favorite RP trends? Relationships, honestly! Not even just romantic ones. (Though I’m a huge sucker for some soulmate threads...) I love the newer trends of pre-established relationships gaining popularity, in particular. Pre establishing stuff isn’t bad, and it can make writing things so much easier!

7. What is your process for starting a new story with someone? I tend to approach, either through an IM or a meme or even a starter call, and try to come up with ideas of how our muses could interact. Usually it’s just throwing out information about my muse (She tends to act this way when x happens, etc) but sometimes I have actual concrete plots in mind. 

8. How do you feel about duplicates? Considering I’m an OC-only rper for the most part... I don’t have strong feelings. If I were to write a canon, I think duplicates could be fun! Though, I can’t say how my anxiety would react to all that.

9. How long have you been involved in roleplaying? Jesus, for a long time. I came to tumblr in 2012, but I was RPing before that. I think since like 2008? So it’s been a while. 

10. Is there a muse or verse you wish you could write in, but haven’t? I want to write with SO many muses, listing them all would honestly take up too much space here. There’s Asmodeus (From Obey Me!), I want to write with Rengoku (KNY), Recovery Girl (BNHA), and so many more.

So it's time for kitikami's first shiny hunt for the shiny only playthrough!

In celebration of Eevee day, there is a special eevee mass outbreak event that started Thursday, November 16, 2024, 4:00 pm but does not end till Monday November 20th, 2023 at 3:59 pm pst.

How does this affect my shiny only playthrough of violet, you may wonder. well, I want to use a shiny sylveon on my kitikami team, but... I have to get to where I can explore freely.

So if I want to shiny hunt eevee on kitikami, I got to get to the community center so I can explore without limits. So my kitikami shiny starter hunt is a bit eariler then planned.

My plan was to finish rookiedee hunt, then mm breed for my last paldean team member, sprigatito.

However, instead, im mm breeding a shiny chimchar in a dream ball with adamant nature and hope it hatches out with its HA: Iron fist.

Chimchar is the kitikami starter I'm breeding for, tho sadly i have to do this without the use of miradon and potentially egg power if I run out of ingredients cause I can't leave till I go to the community center.

4a. Original Characters are allowed to follow me. However, they need to be a little flesh out before I make a decision to follow them back or not. Just a small backstory or biography is all that I need. Headcanons also work if there isn’t an about page but must have about one page worth for me to consider following.

4b. Crossover Characters from other shows are allowed to follow me but I must know about said muse or else I’ll have a hard time whether to follow or not. Few fandoms I won’t interact with because I have no interest in these series are: Avatar the Last Airbender, Avatar the Legend of Korra. ( more to be added ).

5] I am a multi-ship blog. Mihawk is in his late 30s to early 40s during the entire series and as such, I will only be shipping her romantically with muses around her age range which is early 40s to late 20s ( 21 is the lowest I would be willing to go ). Some threads may get a little spicy but nothing that requires a ‘do not read at work’ type of posts. I will tag those post that are suggestive with a ‘spicy: tw & spicy for ts’ and ‘I don’t fraternalize with marines…most of the time’ for blacklisting purposes.

5a. I am open to all kinds of ships, not just romantic ones. I also enjoy platonic, rivalry, and familiar bonds. All ships are open to discussions through my IM(s) or otherwise known as Instant Messenger. Chemistry is key. As long as we interact a little, there’s always the chance that both muses can be in a relationship.

Things for you to tag for me are: BIRDS, CHAIN LETTERS, ORGANS, DOGS. For the birds and dogs, just in real life ones trigger me. I am fine with cartoon / art / video game ones as they are not real.

I hardly get asks as it is, and for you to just use me as a meme source puts a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like I’m being used, which isn’t a good feeling. 3a. I have the right to unfollow whoever I want to and so do you. Please don’t go on a hunt and try to guilt trip me into following you back again. Just don’t. I can and will tell you the reason why I unfollowed you but other than that, just let me leave in peace.

3b. Personal blogs and non RP blogs will be blocked on site. Please, if you have a side blog let me know through asks so I don’t accidentally block you. IMs are not a good way to let me know since they are closed for non-mutuals.

4. Duplicates are welcomed to follow me. The more the merrier. I do not suffer from same muse anxiety and encourage any of the same muse to follow me. Only request is that you don’t steal my headcanons, edits or icons. Other than that, we should all be able to have a good time. I’m always up for twin verses or alternate universes shenanigans.

4a. Original Characters are allowed to follow me. However, they need to be a little flesh out before I make a decision to follow them back or not. Just a small backstory or biography is all that I need. Headcanons also work if there isn’t an about page but must have about one page worth for me to consider following.

4b. Crossover Characters from other shows are allowed to follow me but I must know about said muse or else I’ll have a hard time whether to follow or not. Few fandoms I won’t interact with because I have no interest in these series are: Avatar the Last Airbender, Avatar the Legend of Korra. ( more to be added ).

5. I am a multi-ship blog. All ships are separate in their own standings. Most of my muses are in the 20-30 range. As such, I will only be shipping them romantically with muses their own age range ( 19 to late 30s ). Some threads may get a little spicy for mu muses but nothing that requires a ‘ do not read at work’ type of posts. I will tag those post that are suggestive with a ‘spicy: tw & spicy for ts’ for blacklisting purposes.

5a. I am open to all kinds of ships, not just romantic ones. I also enjoy platonic, rivalry, and familiar bonds. All ships are open to discussions through my IM(s) or otherwise known as Instant Messenger. Chemistry is key. As long as we interact a little, there’s always the chance that both muses can be in a relationship.

6. Things for you to tag for me are: BIRDS, CHAIN LETTERS, ORGANS, DOGS. For the birds and dogs, just irl ones trigger me. I am fine with cartoon / art / video game ones as they are not real.

6a. This blog will contain sensitive themes from time to time. However, I will tag common things like those mentioned below. 8. My pen name on here is SERE. Obliviously, that is not my real name but it’s what I go by. It’s short for ‘Serena’, the English name that DIC gave Usagi Tsukino in the Americanized version of Sailor Moon. It’s pronounced; SIR-REE.

9. I am not a meme source. If you need to reblog a meme from my blog and don’t plan to send me anything, reblog from the source. I hardly get asks as it is, and for you to just use me as a meme source puts a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like I’m being used, which isn’t a good feeling. If you wonder if you should send in a meme to me, please do. I love getting asks. I do hoard them from time to time like a dragon hoards treasure but I do get to them eventually. The more memes / asks, the merrier.

9a.  Feel free to turn inbox replies into threads. Just remember to make a separate post when replying. Do not reblog threads not meant for you and don’t reblog my headcanons. It’s okay to reblog my asks though if you want them to be keepsakes on your own blog. Also, it’s alright to reblog musings and images from me.

10. I rather not be bothered by callout posts and any potential drama that might accumulate. I am just here to have fun and I hope everyone else can too. Life is too short to spend on certain things that don’t matter in the long run. If I see multiple call out posts from you in a single day or that’s all you post, I will quietly unfollow you.

11a.  The best way to interact with me is to send memes / asks / inbox things. I am always up for unprompted things in my inbox. All you need is an AO3 account, since all the art and fics will be posted there anonymously. Please contact us if you need help with setting up AO3.

WHAT DOES CLAIMING A PROMPT MEAN?

Claiming a prompt means that you are signing up as a participant. You will tell us which prompts from the posted list you would want to create something for, and we will assign you one of your top three choices. Each prompt can be assigned to at most one writer and one artist, so no one else will be writing for the same prompt you are writing for, or creating art for the same prompt you are creating art for. You are “claiming” it as your own!

If you accept your prompt assignment, you are committing to creating a piece for that prompt, to completing the check-ins on time, and to having your piece created by the April 3rd deadline. You are also committing to keep your prompt assignment secret (although you are welcome to share non-spoilery snippets if you like, and to have beta readers as usual) until creators are revealed by us at the completion of the fest.

Of course, if something comes up and you are unable to finish the fest, that’s completely fine! Just let us know as soon as possible if that happens.

HOW DOES CLAIMING WORK?

Prompts will be awarded on a first come first served basis. When you submit your claiming form, we will ask for your top three preferences, in order. We will do our best to give you your first choice! If multiple people claim the same prompt as their first choice, then whoever submitted the claim first will get it, and others will get either their second or third choice.

Each prompt can be claimed once for fic and once for art.

If you finish your prompt and want to create another piece, you may claim an additional prompt (just email us to let us know). If you claim a prompt, but then feel unable to complete the work (life, we know!), please inform us as soon as possible, so that we can offer the prompt to someone else.

You can claim your own prompts, if you want.

If you are an artist and a writer, and you want to participate in the fest with both, you are welcome to start out by claiming one prompt for art and one prompt for fic (just fill out the form twice!). However, the art and fic prompts are assigned separately, so there is no guarantee that you will get the same prompt for both even if you list the same preferences.

Claiming closes on 25 January 2021 at 9 pm EST.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

All types of art are welcome, but you will need to upload it onto AO3. A photo of the piece works fine for things like fiber arts, for example. Art requirement is at least one completed piece.

All fics need to be original and cannot be part of a pre-existing series or a prequel/sequel to another fic. Minimum word count for writers is 1k, no maximum. We ask that multi-chapter fics be fully completed by the April 3 deadline.

We will create a collection on AO3 where you can post your work on your assigned date (details to follow).

chunk of a PMV im working on! am currently in that stage of doing stuff where im rapidly bouncing between projects so i dunno when this’ll get done but PROBABLY soon because my brain will not let this go

as much as his colour-blocks skin is difficult to look at, its also REALLY fun to draw bc i tried to make it weird and abstract. and... i may have gotten carried away! whoops.

trying to differentiate face / headshapes more so ended up attempting that and i think it looks okay? it feels weird but thats prolly bc im used to how i usually draw. ill figure out what im doing some day

Oh you stream!? Where and what times usually?

I stream every day besides Sunday pretty much, it’s a very lax schedule and there are days where i say nah not today im too tired (like today)

It’s usually whenever after 4 PM EST for 5 hours and i always post a link when im live! ppl can get free art pretty easily.
