how flashback from Fool For Love reframed Lover's Walk... crazy as everything about spuffy. Spike and all his love is not brain, children, it's blood rhetorics and his mocking of Buffy and Angel attempts to repress their feelings are such a clown move. my son in evil, you're here because you girlfriend of hundred years, with whom you're obsessed with to the point of her being your first priority in an apocalypse, just told you that your obsession now shifts to your nemesis and it's deeper than just respect for your opponent. and instead of simply killing the said nemesis as a good boy, you conclude another truce with her (which is exactly why your girlfriend is mad at you), make your girlfriend a problem in this conflict and then you're third wheeling a quest with the nemesis and her situationship (who is also occasionally your situationship but it's not important right now). and while you're watching those two pinning for each other you're thinking "what an idiots, love is terribly simple and you can't rationalize it". and ofc his dark princess was wrong. no feelings for Buffy there, it's just warrior honor was speaking in you cause logically The Slayer is a great fighter therefore she deserves your basic respect. so you're using your head to convince yourself this intense feeling for Buffy is just hatred. so all reluctant sympathy you have for her lives in your head and based on appreciation of her competence. so you tell yourself for next two years you're The Big Bad and you would kill her with first opportunity, but there's always a good rational reason not to. and then love hits you like a truck, cause you always overlooked what your head is telling you.
#it's all about repression#just from different ends#spuffy#spike x buffy#buffy x spike#btvs#spike btvs#buffy summers#buffy the vampire slayer

literally could not get through angel & faith season 10. it annoyed me too much. i do not know why
season 11 was cute as hell even though the premise was ridiculous. literally just spuffy all the way through. no complaints honestly. spike in general was just such a Dude. like literally just A Guy. loved it. loved buffy and co fighting the government
i read the first part of season 12, then the synopses for the rest of it bc i wanted to know roughly what happened even though the introduction irritated me so much i literally could not find it in myself to read any more in depth. honestly i kind of wish i hadn't even that first part. literally none of that is at all appealing to me whatsoever.
yeah the final season pissed me off so much immediately and i had to go start reading the other comic runs instead. which has been fun so far. the plots have been a lot more coherent
final thoughts on seasons 8-12: weird as shit with some really fun stuff sprinkled in. utterly and wildly ridiculous for the most part and, at times, incoherent. but some of the worldbuilding was fun but not all of it (for example i liked archaeus a lot as a concept but didn't like how hard everything leaned into vampires being explicitly a form of demonic possession).
didn't like any of the romance except for what buffy and spike had going on, which was the main thing i was invested in and i just loved bc it did all the stuff with them i WANTED to see on the show.
would have liked to see more of spike in space though but that's just cause i have doctor who brain rn i think.
xander got the closest he ever has to getting character development during season 10 but didn't quite make it over the threshold 👍 good try buddy you'll get em next time
didn't understand what was going on with willow at any point. if she had an arc i didn't understand it
dawn was barely a character, though ig that's sorta consistent with who she was on the show? kind of? except instead of being a plot device she now gets reduced to a love interest for xander, which, gross.
i stand by my statement that it was a wild ride from start to finish. season 8 was definitely the worst of that though. yeah
as far as buffy comics go, so far i have read:
buffy season 8 (a wild ride from start to finish, everyone was out of character, i still have no clue how anyone came up with ANY of that. i've kind come to terms with it though. funny as hell in hindsight.) (bonus points for the spangel crumbs littered here and there. points withdrawn for buffy's reaction to them.) (season 8 is bonkers bananas all the way through, you have GOT to read it if you haven't. hell of an experience.)
buffy season 9 (a lil rough around the edges but the plot was much more casually engaging, buffy and spike had some very cute moments in the first half and overall i just like what the comics do with spike's character, even if it's a little inconsistent. oh and the plot twists were very silly and fun) (spoilers: the resolution was a little weird but i found it much funnier than i probably should have when illyria sacrificed herself. guy trying to destroy the world bc his girlfriend died and illyria was just like. hey i knew a guy who's girlfriend died one time. how'd he live with it? no yeah he didn't. he died. sorry.)
angel & faith season 9 (loved the callbacks to prior stories, though the stuff with whistler was kinda lost on me. pearl and nash were ok. i liked seeing drusilla again! though i'd prefer to see more of who she is now. the plot involving angel's nipple piercing struck me dead on the spot, weirdest part of the whole thing.)
spike: a dark place (extremely silly, spike leading spaceship full of giant cockroaches was not something i knew i needed but they were so so entertaining. generally just so amusing. i'm totally incorporating an appreciation for space into his character when i write him now.)
spike: into the light (PEAK comic!spike. thank you james marsters. easily the lowest-stakes, most grounded of anything i've read so far, which was extremely refreshing. this guy gets dragged through the dirt the whole time and still manages to be hilarious and endearing throughout. loved him narrowly hiding his vampirism at every turn from dylan. my favorite detail was the constant flapping of the bottom of his shoe.)
buffy season 10 (currently a little ways through, EXTREMELY promising so far. total vibe shift from seasons 8 and 9, way more in line with the feel of the show. every scene with buffy and spike has me kicking my legs and twirling my hair. love those two. dunno how to feel about giles yet. i am ECSTATIC at the notion of xander finally getting some character development, but i'll hold back on celebrating until i get firm confirmation.)
angel & faith season 10 (reading at the same time as buffy s10, the different art styles are a bit jarring to bounce between. genuinely the art in this one is making it way harder to connect with. i LOVED the style in s9, so the shift to realism has been disappointing to say the least. genuinely i just Do Not Know how to feel about this season yet.) (also separating your 2 main leads when their dynamic was the central focus of the last season is certainly A Writing Choice.)

What's your take on Spike in LMPTM? Cause it's always an ep I struggle with. I can see the viewpoint that Spike lacks true remorse and the way he speaks of Nikki is horrible, but at the same time, part of me thinks most of his rant is deliberately antagonistic and full of bluster and bullshit solely because of HOW Robin sought revenge. It always came off to me very much like "you want to fuck with my brain, I'll do the same to you". I feel like it was the action of trying to turn Spike into something he's not in order to justify the kill that makes Spike as cruel as he is in that ep.
Oooof yeah…Lies My Parents Told Me is…an episode for sure. I totally get struggling with it because honestly it’s all in the writing…it’s Like That™️ because of the writer. So just a bit of background info here: LMPTM was written by David Fury and he really hated Spike, or rather specifically the way the audience had sympathy for Spike (and that people shipped him with Buffy). And he admitted he wrote Spike that way in that episode because he ‘wanted to show the audience Spike was still a bad person even with a soul.’ He also did some other crappy stuff with that episode like deliberately casting an actress to play Anne that Fury thought looked like SMG because he thought he was making some sort of cLeVeR commentary on Spuffy. And also that’s why he named her Anne.
Anywho, it’s a little hard for me (personally) to look past the Doylistexplanation which is the writer was being an ass and wanted to get one last jab in before the series was over. And tbh even Fury aside…I don’t know what they were trying to do with Robin, I’m not sure the writers even knew tbh. I think they were just kinda throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what stuck. I don’t think they planned out Robin’s arc or role or development very well, and it probably would’ve been handled better had the episode that concluded that arc not been given to Fury, because ultimately instead of trying to write a good story, he turned it into a weapon to use against the audience like Fury does with so many of his episodes. Like see, see how horrible he is, why don’t you hate him? He’s a terrible person. So yeah, the whole thing really could’ve been handled better.
BUT, looking for a in-universe explanation, I think that is a good one. I mean the First was already messing with Spike’s head, and Robin just used that against him for revenge without really thinking of the implications outside of that.
I think in some ways the episode gets close to hitting Spike’s characterization for the season (but misses because it’s written in the interest of villainizing the character) which is that, no, Spike doesn’t want forgiveness or ‘redemption’…because he doesn’t think he deserves it. He doesn’t ask for forgiveness because he doesn’t want to be forgiven, he doesn’t think having a soul and being sorry makes up for what he’s done to anybody. That’s why he tries to hide the fact he has a soul from Buffy, why he tries to pretend multiple times in the season that nothing has changed about him. He’s not there to be forgiven or absolved, he’s there to help and try to do the right thing now and help save the world (or die trying).
Anyway, that’s my take on it. I know it’s not a very definitive one, but I think LMPTM is really one of those episodes everybody (who likes Spike at least) has to find their own interpretation of because it wasn’t written with good intentions or in the interest of a cohesive or positive character arc.

TOP SECRET first chapter of the dangerous/savvy spuffy fic bc i need thoughts on how to progress.
basically need to get us from here to fool for love. have been considering a pit stop in out of my mind bc the fight would be interesting in this universe and you know the Revelation. would involve more with joyce's stuff and maybe a visiting neurosurgeon who gets kidnapped instead the Riley Stuff bc the kindest thing i can do for riley atm is just not draw him.
feel free to gimme thoughts in replies/answers/dms idk whatever works for you!
(chapter under the cut. barest editing has been done)
If there was something Buffy had learned over the years of her being the Slayer it was that the minds of vampires were alien compared to humans, but unlike other demons they weren’t totally incomprehensible. She’d spent enough time around them — hell she’d even dated one— to see that there was a logic and it was one you could follow and understand to what they did. And that understanding was part of the silent agreement she’d had with Spike since last year.
Chip or no Spike was dangerous and once they’d learned more about the Initiative and learned he could hurt demons she should have killed him. That was the responsible slayer thing to do. But she didn’t because she knew Spike well enough to know what his interests and goals were. He wanted the chip out before he left Sunnydale because out in the world there absolutely humans who could take out a vampire, like hunters and necromancers. He couldn’t rely on minions and his reputation for his own personal protection forever, eventually one would turn on him or fail. He stuck with Buffy’s side because he knew that of the two of them she was the one more likely to get access to the kinda people who could do brain surgery. Also he knew that if he left to go and explore his options elsewhere she’d have Willow track him down and Buffy would stake her himself before he was halfway to LA.
Spike was her responsibility and it was her job to balance keeping him on a tight leash and letting him loose to blow off some steam.
Her break up with Riley last year had been well timed (and embarrassingly prompted by Spike knocking sense into her. She hadn’t even wanted to date Riley in the first place! Why had she gone with it!?) things hadn’t gotten so serious that it was painful or messy and they were still in contact in that “we’re in the same business” kinda way. Likely in Spike’s mind with a bit of time and buttering up they could get the chip out which hey, probably had a point there. She idly considered it again, if that was a route she should take, but opted once again to leave it in limbo for now. Right now the pressing issue in her mind was that Dracula was in town and wanted to get chummy. She’d already had a Scooby meeting with the gang over what they knew about him but now it was time for her to hit up her other well of knowledge.
The Scoobies weren’t exactly privy to the depth of her and Spike’s agreement, how much she actually talked to him and how much weight she put on his opinion. Spike didn’t get to where he was as a Big Name Vampire by being stupid or bad at vampiring. She liked to pick his brain on all kinds of things, there was only so much of it she actually put stock into of course. He might be technically her ally but they both knew he was the de facto Big Bad of Sunnydale since there wasn’t anyone else around currently who could actually wrangle anyone around here. Kinda made her miss the mayor sometimes, at least he put civic works on his list of evil schemes.
As it stood she was pretty sure the only person who got that she and Spike were the two biggest fish in town and that they acted like it was Giles, who took whatever info she relayed without always naming her source with a kind of knowing silence.
She barged into his Crypt, Spike looked up from where he’d been watching TV.
He raised a brow at her. “Yeah Slayer? Need something? Kinda busy here.”
She didn’t waste her breath. “So it looks like Drac’s in town and he’s looking to get a bite of Buffy Pie. You know anything about him?”
Suddenly Spike was interested. “He owes me 11 pounds for starters.”
Buffy’s eyebrows shot up. “Dracula owes you money?”
“Yeah.” Spike lit a cigarette. “Fucker.”
“So you know Dracula?”
“Yuuup. We're old rivals. But then he got famous, forgot all about his foes. I'll tell you what. That glory hound's done more harm to vampires than any Slayer. His story gets out, and suddenly everybody knows how to kill us.”
“Okay so what can you tell me about him? He’s got like, wizard powers I know that, he kept poofing when I tried to stake him.”
Spike waved a hand dismissively. “Low level parlor tricks he learned from the Rromani. The real threat’s his thrall. Bloody powerful.”
“Noted. Any ideas on where to find him so I can make him poof permanently?”
Spike raised a brow at her.
“He’s here for you pet, isn’t that what you said? You don’t have to worry about looking for him. He’ll come to you. And he’ll keep coming until he gets what he wants which I’m guessing is you as part of his ridiculous harem.”
Buffy groaned. “ Gross. Well do you have any anti-thrall tips?”
Spike got up, turning off the tv and going over to where he’d thrown his coat.
“None I’d be willing to share with you but I’ve got a better idea anyway. We head back to yours, you go about the end of your night as normal and when Drac comes to ply his cheap seduction I’m going to give him a piece of my mind.”
“Oh you are now?”
“Damn right. First off— I want my money. Second— it’s an insult to my reputation that he thinks that he can come into my territory and go after my prey. Like I can fucking let this shit stand—”
He walked right past her to the door and she followed, half amused. She probably should be offended by him calling her “his prey” but she got what he was saying. This was his town as much as it was hers, he was the head black hat around here and if anyone should be getting the slayer murdering trophy here it was him not some tourist who cropped up on the hellmouth just to get an “I killed the slayer and made her my vampiric consort” t-shirt. Buffy was with him there— well not that Spike had murdering her rights, but that there was no way she was gonna let some out of town vamp make a mess out of her perfectly nice hellmouth for his own fun.
Which is how she found herself in the deeply weird position of now trying to fall asleep while Spike sat in her chair.
“Is this really necessary?”
“Oh yeah. You’re his target. He’ll be through that window by the end of the night mark my words and when he does I’ll be there to rip his poncy head off for disrespecting me again.”
Buffy rolled her eyes and flopped back into her bed trying to get comfortable and ignore Spike’s presence in her room and get some sleep. Or at least be less suspicious bait.
The thing was that last time she’d been this serious about dealing with a vamp it’d been Spike last year. He’d chased her around Sunnydale like the freaking terminator with his stupid anti-vampire damage decoder ring. A ring which she was keeping safe in this very room. For a brief moment when they’d all been looking at it on Giles’ coffee table she thought about giving it to Angel but then she remembered Angelus and the thought died. She wasn’t thrilled with Angel and how that relationship had ended but if he ever lost his soul again while he had a ring that made him indestructible it would be a nightmare. She’d give it back to Spike before she let that happen. She didn’t know how the whole chip situation would react to the ring and honestly she didn’t want to find out. She hoped Spike wasn’t much for snooping.
Somehow eventually, maybe from the sheer power of boredom, Buffy fell into a half doze only to startle awake what felt like a minute later.
There were now two weirdly dressed vampires in her room. Spike and Dracula who he was blocking from getting to her.
“Hey Drac. Funny seeing you here after all these years. Come to pay me back those 11 pounds?”
“Spike. Why are you of all vampires in a Slayer’s bedroom? I didn’t think you had sunken to killing your prey in their sleep.”
Oh shit he did know Dracula. Wow.
“Oh come off it. I’d never.” She could hear the smirk in his voice. “It’s just that this one’s mine and I couldn’t help but notice you coming into my town to try and steal my fun. I’m the Slayer of Slayers mate. You’re a kid’s birthday magician.”
“Mind your tongue!” Dracula scowled looking from Spike to Buffy and back. “If she is your prey then why is it that you can enter her home and she is not yet dead?”
Spike’s smirk turned to a grin. “Cause half the reason I like goin’ after Slayers is I like the fight and this one’s got lots of it. No fun killin’ her just yet when there’s plenty of good fight to be had, though I’ll admit after getting a taste I reconsidered on that one.”
Dracula’s eyes bored into Buffy until Spike moved between them again, likely to protect her from his thrall.
“Course. Nearly took out her jugular last year. Fuckin’ ambrosia. Been a tic since the last Slayer I ate but she’s even sweeter than I remembered.”
There was a hungry look now in Dracula’s face. “You have tasted her?”
“I have. And I will again. Only vampire who will. Slayer’s out of your league. Their blood’s top shelf and not for overdramatic twits like you— it’s something you ought to earn, the taste is.” Spike put a hand on Dracula’s chest. “ Well that’s for me to know and for you to never find out mate.”
Dracula’s eyes burned as they snapped to Spike. “You dare to touch me?”
“Fuck yes I dare.” She could hear the crunch of Spike’s bones. “And I’ll do more than that two you overrated sideshow. Fuck off back to Transylvania this Slayer is mine.”
“You are not worthy of being her equal. To teach her of her own darkness.”
That seemed to set something off in Spike and his hand on Dracula’s chest became a fist, twisting into his blouse. His other one was balling into a fist as well, getting ready to sock him.
“I’ll say it again one more time. The only one who makes her neck their chalice is me. Fork over the cash and fuck off back to your Eastern European shithole of a castle.”
Dracula looked scowling from Spike to Buffy who was now wielding a stake from under her pillow. She wiggled it as she quirked a brow.
“This is not over.” He spat.
“Yeah I think it is.” Spike drawled.
Then poof! Dracula was all misty and floating out her window.
“That’s all the big name Dracula time I get? That was anti-climatic.” Buffy griped.
“Yeah and if it had been climatic your furniture would’ve been the first casualty.” Spike said as he plopped down onto her bed.
“Never mind. Anti-climatic good.”
Spike snorted. His face was still demonic, yellow eyes glinting at her from the shadows of a bone white head. It didn’t send chills down her spine like it did even just a year ago but it didn’t put at her ease either. She’d listened to everything Spike said and knew that while, yeah sure, it was posturing he meant what he said. One day their truce would be done and one of them would end up dead. Spike had a vested interest in keeping other vamps off her in situations like this because he wanted first, middle and last crack at her. Buffy dropped her stake back onto the bed.
“Didn’t even give me my money before he scarpered.”
“And that really is the worst part of his visit to turn me into his vampire harem ho.”
Spike nodded. “Thank you for recognizing that.”
Buffy rolled her eyes. “Okay I’m gonna try and get some actual sleep now.”
“Right I’m going to stay here a bit, make sure he doesn’t think he can circle back after I’m gone and get in a quick thrall.”
“In the room or the house in general?”
“I’d just say the house but with our luck I leave to watch a bit of telly and he’ll be in here the second I close the door.”
“Yeah true. Sounds about right for my luck.”
“You look for his posh mansion or whatever he’s got in the morning and I’ll get some minions tomorrow night to do a bit of tracking on our end.”
Spike got up and purused her bookshelf before pulling one off, she couldn’t really see what he’d picked in the gloom. He sat down again and cracked open the book, settling in to read. Spike didn’t really keep minions in the traditional sense, but he did consider any vampire living in Sunnydale to have tacitly agreed to being his minion by the sheer fact they lived here and he wasn’t afraid to bully them into doing his shit work.
“Right.” Buffy flopped back down into her bed. “Night for real this time I guess.”
“Yeah, sweet dreams Slayer.”
---------------------------------------------------
Honestly the whole Dracula thing ended up being kind of a let down. The most interesting part really had been Spike’s stand off with him. It had real soap opera vibes compared to the low budget d-movie vibes raiding his mansion had had. Guess that’s how it always is when you meet a celebrity. They just never held up to the hype.
The thing that was really worrying her was her “hunting” as Dracula called it. Which was— yeah. That’s what it was.
It seemed like every year she got a little more Slayery but something about whatever they did with that spell during the last apocalypse had kicked it into overdrive. She felt wild sometimes, primal. Like all her hungers were just More now. Sometimes she almost felt out of control while also completely in control. Like she was the calm and the storm. It made no sense at all. She’d talked to Giles about starting up her training again. If that spell, the dreams after and her new found urges taught her anything it was that she didn’t know enough about what she even was. What really was the Slayer? How was she made? Who did it? What was she at the end of the day? Human? Half something else? Human plus a spell? What did that mean for her? Did it even matter?
Frankly it was a whole can of worms she’d been actively trying to avoid since she’d found out about Kendra being called. How was she still the slayer if the slayer juice or whatever had moved on? How’d it work? What were they? She didn’t have any answers. Just the feeling like she was two things in one body pulling in different directions but also the same thing all bound up in itself just like it should be.
Buffy prowled the cemetery looking for prey to take out her endless mental circling on. She came across some vampires and tore into them with ease. Enjoying the burn of working muscle as she decimated them with hard-won skill and natural power. It was over fairly quick but satisfying enough she might actually get some rest now. Then she noticed Spike, leaning against a mausoleum and watching her with that burning stare. She’d sensed him but hadn’t actively noted him, her subconscious or whatever not seeing him as a threat she guessed. A dangerous habit to form.
She walked over and he met her in the middle.
“Times like this I wanna crack my bloody skull open and rip the chip out myself.” Spike’s voice was low and rough, his eye’s burning hungrily. “The things I’d do to you Slayer.”
Everything about that sent a tingle through Buffy that she was pretty sure was left over from her weird slayer hunting urge that was only just dying down.
“Yes, I know Spike. You’ve got lots of wicked bad evil plans to do terrible horrible things to me if you ever get your capacity for human murder back.”
He brushed some of her hair back behind her ear. A power move she steadfastly ignored.
“What’s got you out here in the dead of night Slayer? Isn’t it well past your beddy bye for a night like tonight?”
Buffy shifted and looked to the side. “Couldn’t sleep.”
He grinned slowly. “Not enough blood in your teeth?”
She glared at him. But he ignored it.
“Happens to me sometimes. Don’t get in enough violence in my day and it feels like my skin’s gonna come bursting off. Gotta get in a couple of kills before I can finally tuck in. Rip out some throats and all that. Practically demon nature.” He looked her over with interest. “Suppose it makes sense it’s Slayer nature too. You’re built to hunt us.”
That mollified Buffy a little but she still didn’t really like it. But it brought her back to all the things she’d been thinking and feeling since the spell. He had a point. The only other beings who were close enough to slayers to compare where probably vampires—and humans sure, but humans weren’t all aggro and bloodlusty like she got. She had needs and impulses and instincts no normal humans would ever have, not even getting into the physical stuff like strength. Buffy moved automatically over to the mausoleum that Spike had been leaning on to do so herself and he followed.
“I never used to have an urge for— for hunting— that was this powerful before that spell we did to defeat Adam. Now it’s like— I don’t know like I’m more me.”
“Why I hear it you all tapped into something primal, powerful.”
“The First Slayer.”
Spike’s brows raised. “Oh yeah? And what was she like?”
“Primal. Powerful.” Her lips twitched up in a momentary smile. “She was intense and angry and alone. Practically a force of nature.”
“Well there you go. When you did that spell you brought back out with you a little bit more of what’s at that gooey Slayer core and whatever it is, it’s kin to us demons if your feeling the same kinds of urge that I do.” One again his eyes were full of liquid fire. “Cause it’s not just the urge to kill is it? Or at least it’s an urge that you could get off a couple of ways— fighting, fucking, feeding. The three things vampires love best. I bet when you get that itch that keeps you up at night you go for one of those and it’s the first two that do the job best. Shame you dumped soldier boy last year isn’t it? Then again he probably wouldn’t have been able to keep up.”
It was frankly horrifying how spot on he could get.
She glared at him. “You’re a pig Spike.”
He just grinned and bit his tongue just a little.
“We’re nothing alike okay? Demon, Slayer. Bad, Good. Opposites.”
Spike leaned in, looming over her. His breath cool and tabacco-y against her face.
“You think you know ... what you are ... what's to come? You haven't even begun.” He smiled again and some how it was the same smile as always but completely different. It was like the Spike from junior year was back. “You’re as much a part of the dark as me Slayer. You might bat for the other team but you’re built like me. Believe me, I know.”
A chill ran through her along with electricity. She wanted to slap him and run. She wanted to shake him and make him explain his bullshit. Tell her everything he knew about it if he wanted to act like he knew things.
“You might hunt Slayers for sport or whatever Spike but you don’t know anything about us.”
He leaned back a bit so he could meet her with glittering eyes. “Oh I know more than I think you do dear. Never were much of an academic in your slayer studies were you? Remember, you’re not the first Slayer I’ve hunted.”
She didn’t have much of a comeback to that. She wasn’t much on learning the lore-y end of things and she really didn’t know the extent of what he’d done on the whole Slayer hunting thing. It was entirely possible he did know more about it than she did right now.
“Well Spike this has been fun but I’m heading home now. Have fun with the dregs— if I even left any.”
She flipped her hair as she turned and left. Not the most elegant retreat she’d made but she was pretty sure she thawked him with that so she’d take it. Her existential Crisis could wait until she was training with Giles, for now all she wanted to do was finally enjoy a nice night of sleep with no fears of vampiric creeps sneaking in again.

idk what the buffy-ship-wars are like on tumblr, but this is from someone who is on imstagram- it gets EXTREMELY aggressive and just like 😟😟😟😟😟what! people were blocking others cause “you don’t like season 6 spuffy???????😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡”
so here’s me being Angry. as far as that goes. I’m using numbers so my brain doesn’t explode here we go
(also, for clarification, i will b passive aggressive and it’ll look like i’m just hating on these ships [which i kind of am—] but i am in NO way tryna put y’all buffy shippers down!!!! if you don’t wanna read then you don’t need 2 :])
1. both bangel and spuffy (we aren’t gonna talk abt biley cause it. no☺️there’s no reason to) had their own faults, and while they DID have pros, their faults were still Visible.
bangel, for one, was just ??? very creepy??? and yes, it has some very cute scenes, but overall it was just a bit odd. and that’s mostly on how buffy, the Vampire Slayer’s, first boyfriend is huge, overly protective, a vampire, and over like 200 years old. yeah yeah “but it doesn’t matter with vampires, cause they look around the same age!!” that’s the thing!!!!! he looked like. 20!!! she was 15/16!!! and for a “girl power” show that’s JUST starting w a mysterious, older, overly protective and extremely strong vampire, that just defeats the purpose. plus, angel was kinda absent, if y’all didn’t realize
spuffy. Good lord. ok spuffy is great (in it’s own way???) i guess but season 6 has Really clouded my senses for them. spike just went “awooga woman” all of a sudden and started being creepy. then he had buffy-bot (Barf) and then “Seeing red”. and for sure, buffy wasn’t any better (she wasn’t as bad, but she was still pretty demeaning), but spike was just a full out creep. (Creep by radiohead plays)). and honestly?? in season 7, he chilled out a bit and honestly i liked them better as just good friends. because YES, they could help each other, because they understood each other. also, their little scenes in the finale made me cry. so
2. buffy was literally MEANT to be a girl empowerment show!!!! yeah, a girl can totally still b independent w a lover/love interest, but the whole Show should not be surrounded by that—
bangel, i understand sorta, cause it led up to Angelus and his arc. i can see that. but when spike turned to buffy in season 5 (i think it was season 5 fjsjfndn) it was. kind of unnecessary- again, i think they would’ve been better off platonic. hell, make them platonic soulmates if you want!!! put that magic, cool fantasy shit on instead of just plain romantic! but it wasn’t necessary for the actual big bad plot, and therefore i don’t think it was COMPLETELY necessary for the general plot
buffy is entirely independent though! without the scoobies and everyone, i believe she would get along swimmingly. minus the intense therapy and extreme mental problems, she could pull off a good sweep of vamps on her own!!! rereading this paragraph put me through the 5 stages of grief!
3. I don’t really have a three. I’m not very good with essays
anyway. THAT’S IT. I’M SO SORRY FOR THE LONG POST I JUDT HAVE MANY THOUGHTS and this might even b incomprehensible and some info might b wrong, but that’s just how the cookie crumbles. Also, major respect to spuffy+bangel shippers who can realize the faults of those ships ilove you /p
#btvs#buffy the vampire slayer#buffy summers#spike#angel#these bitches need last names to specify their media#also i’m gonna keep apologizing for this LOL dm that i’m just.#also also i’m aroace so that just might be. where these feelings come from ($/&;!!:#moon chit chat#long post

I always dream of Russian dolls... or something
Okay so I have very intricate and vivid dreams. Blame this one on having recently read a whole lot of excellent Spuffy fic. But I think it's actually really good and I really should just turn it into a story (as if I have time for another one of those!)...
Also, apologies in advance but I don't know how to do a cut here. I knew on LJ...
So, in the dream I'm Buffy, and I'm standing at a window looking out over an alley in (I think) Italy, gazing out into the late afternoon or early morning (who knows; the light was slanted enough away from the window not to fry an elder vamp).... and I also kind of had Angel's naked back in the way, blocking the view a little (which turns out to be figurative but we'll get to that), because he's only wearing his pants like Angel does, because he likes having his shirt off (don't ask me why, but he didn't have his tattoo in this scene? Maybe because I just don't care what Angel has on him, but, eh). So, anyway, I'm looking at him, but I'm Buffy, so I'm having this feeling of warm contentment that he's there; this feeling of gladness in the relationship. I feel like it's a marriage, almost... and then I snap into my lucid brain briefly and wonder what the hell I'm dreaming. I mean, this is *so* not me; I am not a Bangel fan in the slightest, it completely squicks me out... But I'm kind of curious anyway, so I sink back into the dream & roll with it for a minute to see what happens.
And then Angel says something about how he's uncomfortable with us living over this alley, because it's not that great an area, and there's a lot of dangerous stuff happening down there, and I might get sucked into going down to save people all the time and expose myself, blah blah... And I kind of get the feeling that we're in hiding from the Immortal right now because I've spurned his advances or something (I have no idea of any of this actually works in the slightest timeline-wise, because I've never yet read the comics, but whatever; it's a dream, & all things are fair in love and dream-fic). So anyway, I'm not even irritated by this bullshit pronouncement, because apparently I'm in Buffy-zone right now and, whereas me myself would be irritated by the way Angel tries to protect Buffy and tries to take over everything whether she needs it or not, Buffy is just kind of thinking, "Aw, he's cute for trying to be protective when I just need to do my job, and if there are people down there who need my help I'm going to go do it; but he's sweet with his cute sweet shoulders and blah blah poopycakes". (Sickening, isn't it?)
Then thank all the holies, Spike comes out from behind me to inject some reality into this situation, walks up close... And I'm tingling from the sense of both of them, except for obvious reasons I have a far better body sense of Spike... And just for the record he has his shirt off too, which just let me say is better, it's always better; ALWAYS, 100% BETTER... But I digress. And he says, in his knee-melting and irreplaceable way, "Oh, bloody hell. For God's sake, Peaches, will you let the woman do 'er job? Do you want me to hit him for you, Slayer, or let you do it?" and I just smile and stroke his arm and say, "Down, boy," but I'm delighted of course at the way he always takes my part and never talks down to me, love the way he's always ready to have my back, and how turned on he is by the way I fight and all of that, and he can tell he's made me happy, and he kisses me, and I pull him in for it, and Angel's shoulders tighten a little, but that's all....
And then I go lucid again, because I have no idea how I've gotten these two live together with me, because this is clearly a poly situation, however uneasy, and I know they worked well together in LA, but with Spike's inferiority complex about the Angel thing (and hell, prolly Angel's by this point) I just don't know how this is going to work (probably there was some kind of oil involved)... but anyway apparently it's working at the moment, because the three of us are living together... And I guess maybe it partially works because there's no way that Angel's ever going to reach perfect happiness if the three of us are always sleeping together, because he's never going to be perfectly happy if I'm also having sex with Spike at the same time (*snicker*) and he knows secretly that I'm having way more fun with Spike than with him (because, I mean how could it be any other way, let's be real)... But I blather.
At that point I wake up from the dream (not ME-me, but BUFFY wakes up from the poly-in-Italy dream... and she's in bed with Spike in San Francisco, and she's debating telling him about this dream because she's pretty sure he'll be insecure about it even after all these years... But she actually realizes from having the dream that she is kind of irritated; and part of the reason that she is with Spike now is because he always celebrated her as she is and for what she is, and always wanted to back her up but never wanted to stand in front of her or get in her way, and that it does kind of irritate her now, that Angel always wanted to stand in front of her and control her and kind of saw her as a girl to be protected and not a woman to be fought beside. So she just turns over in bed and starts to show Spike exactly the reason she's glad she's with him instead.
And then *I* wake up realizing that I just had a dream nestled within a dream nestled within a dream. And it was a DAMN good dream.

My forever OTPs Masterpost
Okay so I am a classic fan-girl. I can love a lot of tv-shows, but what gets me addicted are the shows with amazing characters and relationships. You know those ships that steals your soul and you daydream about then instead of your own life? The ships where they are imperfect, but they make eachother better. Yup, those ships.
(These are in no special order, because all my forever OTPs are my babies.)
1. Buffy & Spike (Spuffy) - BtvS
She is the vampire slayer. He is a vampire. They started of trying to kill each other. But somehow they never did.. Long story short he fell in love with her. Helped her save her sister. Helped save the world. He was there for her when she felt broken and lost. Sure, these characters had one of the roughest stories I’ve ever been invested in, but I never stopped loving these two characters. He hurt her, but then he fought to get his soul back. For her, to be the kind of man she deserves,
Favourite quote:
Spike: You listen to me. I've been a live a bit longer than you, and dead a lot longer than that. I've seen things you couldn't imagine, and done things I prefer you didn't. Don't exactly have a reputation for being a thinker. I've only my blood, which doesn't exactly rush in the direction of my brain, so I make a lot of mistakes, a lot of wrong, bloody calls. A hundred plus years, and there's only one thing I've ever been sure of -- you. Hey, look at me. I'm not asking you for anything. When I say I love you, it's not because I want you, or because I can't have you, and it has nothing to do with me. I love what you are. What you do. How you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you, and I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You are a hell of a woman. You're the one, Buffy.
2. Rory Gilmore & Jess Mariano (Literati) - Gilmore Girls
Okay so who was Rorys best boyfriend has always been a BIG part of the Gilmore Girls universe. Imo no one even compares to Jess! Bad boy moves to small town. Boy meets girl. They fall in love. Their connection was real and they challenged each other on so many levels. Their relationship was pretty brief, which sucked. But Jess came back for a visit on several occations and he was always the one to get Rory back on track when she felt lost. He understood her better than anyone. No one will ever convince me these two didn’t get together in the end, even if we never got to see it happen.
Favourite quote:
Rory: We're studying. Jess: You're studying. I'm prying into your personal life.
3. Kate Austen & James “Sawyer” Ford (Skate) - LOST
Okay so I have no words to tell you how much this ship meant to me. It was my first ship where I actually were a part of a online-fandom and these are friends I still have now, 10 years later. But THESE characters.. her sass, his nicknames.. they break my heart. Lost gir & lost boy. Together they were perfect, with a chemistry that still to this day can make my heart skip a beat.
Favourite quote:
Sawyer: You taste like strawberries. Kate: You taste like fish biscuits.
4. Emma Swan & Killian Jones / Hook (Captain Swan) - OUaT
So I’m a Disney addict. Like, I moved to the other side of the world twice to work for The Mouse. Fairytales has always been my thing, so me being addicted to Once Upon a Time was a given from the start. I was a casual viewer for the first season, but then this man (Captain Hook!) showed up, and my life has been all about Captain Swan since that moment. He was a villain (but not really, he wanted revenge for his first love) and then he met Emma who is sunshine and everything good. She has been alone most of her life and her walls are so high no-one can get close. Together they make each other better. He works hard to be a good man for her, and she finally finds someone who will never leave her and treats her like the princess she is. They are so good together, true love.
Favourite quote:
Killian: With all this talk of authors and the book, we've never discussed one fact: I was a villain. Emma: But you're not anymore. Killian: Neither is Regina, but she still lost her happy ending. If we're to believe the rules of the book, then it's only a matter of time before I lose mine. Emma: Wait. If you're afraid of losing your happy ending, that means you found it. What is it? Killian: Don't you know, Emma? It's you.
5. Clarke Griffin & Bellamy Blake (Bellarke) - The 100
Aka. my sun and moon, king and queen of the ground, and all-around adorable hurt puppies. Started out not liking each other very much, but found themselves working better as a team and as leaders of their people. They have a deep connection, and work together perfectly. She’s the brain, he’s the heart. They have tried doing things on their own, but turns out they work better together. Clarke and Bellamy trust each other completely and they would die to protect each other. Plso their chemistry is insane, been shipping these since like..the second episode. We are now on season 4 and they STILL haven’t kissed. I feel the Bellarke strong this season, so I think it will happen soon. But as long as I get to see these two working together I will go down with this ship with a smile on my face.
Favourite quote:
Clarke: Thank you. For keeping me alive. Bellamy: You don't make it easy.
6. Katara & Zuko (Zutara) - Avatar: The Last Airbender
Prince Zuko, firebender. Katara, waterbender. Opposittes, night and day, yin and yang. So this ship never happened, but that doesn’t stop me from still daydreaming about them and reading tons of fan fiction. They were enemies turned friends and together they were amazing. This is the kind of ship where I feel so blessed that we have internet. There’s just so many fics and fanart out there about these two silly babies.
Favourite quote:
Katara: What are you doing? Zuko: Keeping the rocks from crushing you. Katara: Okay, I'm not crushed. You can get off me now. Zuko: I'll take that as a "thank you."
7. Zoe Hart & Wade Kinsella (Zade) - Hart of Dixie
Big-city doctor moved to small adorable town. Meets bad-boy Wade. They argue. They have a LOT of chemistry. There’s a lot of on and off all through this series, but it was wonderful to watch. This show just makes me feel good, and these two love-birds made it perfect. Wade grew up, Zoe learned that she didn’t have to follow her big plan and let her heart decide where and who her home was. Perfection.
Favourite quote:
Wade: Maybe I'm not 100 percent sure that you wouldn't hurt me if we started things, but I know that I have never felt about anyone the way I feel about you. And I guess that I realized it's worth the risk.
8. Robin & Barney (Swarkles) - How I Met Your Mother
Okay, but do I really have to explain this one to anyone? Everyone knew these two were perfect together. Barney & Robin were funny as hell, they loved each other even with all their little quirks. Perfect pairing and I will ship them until the end of time. (and I will never ever forgive the writers for that ending). Rude.
Favourite quote:
Barney: I love everything about her, and I’m not a guy who says that lightly. I’m a guy who has faked love his entire life. I thought love was just something idiots thought they felt, but this woman has a hold on my heart that I could not break if I wanted to. And there have been times that I wanted to. It has been overwhelming and humbling and and even painful at times. But I could not stop loving her any more than I could stop breathing. I am hopelessly, irretrievably in love with her. More than she knows.
9. Veronica & Logan (LoVe) - Veronica Mars
Yup, that’s LoVe. Silly puppies who are just great together even when they don’t want to admit it to themselves. The original series ended so suddenly that I never got closure when it came to Logan and Veronica, so I was SO happy that they made a revival movie and it was PERFECT! These kids have been through so much, they just need to be happy!
Favourite quote:
Logan: I thought our story was epic, you know, you and me. Veronica: Epic how? Logan: Spanning years and continents. Lives ruined, bloodshed. EPIC. Veronica: Come on. Ruined lives? Bloodshed? You really think a relationship should be that hard? Logan: No one writes songs about the ones that come easy.
10. Isak & Even (Evak) - SKAM
Okay so for those of you who don’t know this show: SKAM is a Norwegian show that follows a group of teenagers through High School. And in season 3 Evak stole all of our hearts. It’s all about falling in love, coming out and a bit of mental health, all done perfectly. They are so cute and amazing, even when they were breaking my heart. What makes this show so great is how realistic it feels, and you smile and hurt with them.
Favourite quote:
Isak: Du er ikke alene. (You are not alone).

Hi there, it's your Super Secret July Santa! So excited to write something that, hopefully, will brighten your day. I love the prompt already, I can feel a lot of ideas coming, but I wanted to ask you about anything that you might want or be thinking about. I know those five-word prompts are tricky because sometimes you en up cramming the basics in so anything you wanna add is more than welcome!
Hi Santa! It will absolutley brighten my day. I trust you totally.
I originally got the idea from a Spuffy (Spike/Buffy) fic I read many years ago and it still stuck with me. I couldn’t shake how well Rumbelle would fit the plot better.
I just love fics with a dark undercurrent (or, ya know, overt). Like, when I found out @a-monthly-rumbelling did the strip club prompt a year ago, I could not get enough! But I am incapable of writing them. I will open up a Google Doc and say to myself, ok, sexy angst, Go! And 32 chapters of a fluffy AU romance with misunderstandings and one sex scene come out. My brain says, you know what would make this oneshot PWP better…20 chapters of character development and UST!! No, brain, no! Think sex, violence, and drugs! Instead…everyone goes to Paris for a fashion show.
Sex, violence and drugs not required, that’s up to you, but you get the vibe :)
Belle could be Belle, thrust against her will or better judgement into this seedy underbelly of a world and struggles with it, or Lacey, who kinda embraces it. I love the idea of Belle, who has an attraction for the darkness in Gold, despite herself and hating what he does. But I also love what Gold and Lacey could have been together if given the chance, which is only hinted at in the 2x21 “could you keep me young?” scene. Or somewhere in between. I think it all totally works and would devour read either! I imagined it as a non-magic AU, but I want you to have the freedom to go in any direction should inspiration take you there!
As you can see, I’m totally excited about you writing this!!!
