I didn't know what to do for this fabulous day, but then I found  this incorrect quote and thought it would be SO MUCH Arthur & Eames too. So I decided to try to make a meme about it (it's not very high quality but it's my first attempt).

Inception 30 Day Challenge (@inception30daychallenge)

The Inception 30 Day Challenge is a set of 30+ questions and prompts about Inception, its characters, and you! They’re meant to inspire some reflection and creativity about Inception, whether it be through a simple text post, art, music, recs – anything goes! And there will be prizes! Visit the @inception30daychallenge​ blog for the full list of questions!

A blog to celebrate all the wonderful art created by the Inception fandom! Feel free to share inception art with us, either your own or others’, by reblogging (not reposting!) the artwork and tagging the inceptionart blog!

Arthur/Eames Last Drabble Writer Standing (@aeldws)

Signups open June 21 through June 28 or all 10 slots are filled. A weekly elimination drabble challenge where all works must fit a given prompt and feature Arthur/Eames as the main pairing. This year’s AELDWS will run for seven weeks, from June 30 to August 11, with a maximum of 10 participants. Prompts are posted on the @aeldws blog Friday at 1AM EDT, and drabbles are due Tuesday at 1PM EDT. Voting will take place Tuesday night through Thursday night.

Posting date July 31 An author and artist collaborative event. Authors anonymously submit fic summaries, and artists claim their favorites and create art. Claims ended in early June. First check-in for participants is July 1. Second check-in for participants will be on July 15.

Inception Kitties (@inceptionkitties)

30 days of InceptionKitties means 30 questions for the 30 days of Inceptiversary before we draw a random winner on the 31st! A fun question will be posed to the InceptionKitties community each day, and all our cat parents have to do is reblog the post and share their response! There’s no signups or obligation to do all 30 questions. Pick and choose at your convenience! But anyone who tackles 15 days of questions gets entered into the draw for a small prize!

Inception Positivity (@inceptionpositivity)

Submissions open June 24 until July 28. Inception Positivity is a place to send love and kind thoughts to Inception fandom friends anonymously and receive some love in turn. People submit kind messages via Google form and these are turned into colourful posts that are posted on the blog.

@inception30daychallenge day 9: Which character has the most annoying habit on the job and what is it? ~

Arthur: Yusuf. It's Yusuf. It's 100% Yusuf and his goddamn used toothpicks that he leaves everywhere. I found one in my desk drawer the other day. It was soggy.

Ariadne: It's Eames. He keeps sitting on my desk whenever he talks to Arthur. That's right, not at my desk. On my desk. On my sketches. Like, can he move and flirt elsewhere? Hello.

Eames: It's Ariadne. Her desk is so dirty. Cleanliness is next to godliness, etcetera, as they say. Alas, pencil shavings and ink everywhere. Maybe Arthur knows a good dry-cleaner.

Cobb: It's Arthur. He's started whistling since Paris. Can he stop fucking whistling all the time? Like, what is that - Ode to Joy?

Yusuf: It's Cobb. Sometimes I'd like an early night for once without having to monitor his time in dreams. I could find a date, if it weren't for Cobb.

Saito: They all have.... a lot of interpersonal issues.

@inception30daychallenge day 12: Your favourite setting in the movie.

It's hard to pick just one setting but Mombasa is what first pops into my mind. I've wanted to go to Kenya since I was young and it's where we meet Eames and Yusuf. They have cafes that are apparently good enough for people to line up out the door for. I particularly love Yusuf's dream den. I dunno what it is about it but I just find it really appealing. I'm sure there's someone out there who's able to put it into words but I'm terrible with words.

I intended to participate in the @inception30daychallenge for 2024's @inceptiversary celebration, but a week has already gone by and I don't know if I will actually have the strength and energy to do so.

Here's my point: since it's unlikely I'll end up using these banners I made, I am offering them to the rest of you. Anyone who likes them should feel free to steal them!

To make them easier to download, I compiled all of these PNG images into a ZIP file and uploaded it to my Google Drive. You will find a link to it in the following places: the source of this post + the replies on this post.

There are only 30 banners, as I did not include Day #13: A fanart rec! because the prompt list specifically makes it clear that you should reblog the artist's work, not repost it.

Day 1: my favourite thing about the movie

I said it before (I think?) and I will say it again, but this movie's costume design forever has me in awe. I will not by any means try to go in depth because so many people have done it so well, but seriously I am obsessed. My fav is probably the first Saito fit by the way, not arguing a guy who incorporates his culture into luxurious men formal wear that well whatever you say beautiful.

The rewatch value! I think there was a time I watched Inception like 10 times in a week. Maybe it's just the ADHD hyperfixation, but I really feel like there's something new to get every time.

@inception30daychallenge day 10: a headcanon about my favourite character

Contrary to popular belief, Arthur didn’t grow into his organizational skills in the military.

When he was 13 his mother got very sick, and his father had to work hard long hours to earn enough money to provide for his family + the added medical bills. And this left Arthur, as the oldest child, to look after his 4 younger siblings when his parents couldn’t. Making sure everyone did their homework and had something to eat and such. 

He got a little whiteboard and a few markers so that he could write down everyone’s schedules and be able to keep track of everything better and at least try to stay on top of things, as his siblings needed to be able to rely on him, and in a way his parents too. And the funny thing is that what he and his siblings found harder to agree on wasn’t the distribution of chores but how to colour-code each of them, because despite the heaviness of the situation they were still kids. Even Arthur who fought strenuously to get purple. 

The whiteboard is still there at his parents’ home and regularly used.

@inception30daychallenge Day 24: A headcanon about your favourite friendship or relationship

HOOOO DREAM HUSBANDS TIME BABEYYYY

Arthur and Eames' relationship exists long before it has a name. It started out as something casual but they care for each other deeply and become exclusively with each other after a while, but they don't consider it...dating. They don't even really consider that other people might consider it dating. This leads to a lot of confusion.

It isn't until the Fischer job that they consider something more official. The general danger of the dream sharing field is something they're used to, but something about the danger of losing each other in limbo was particularly existentially terrifying and the solidity of having something Official is comforting.

So of course they just immediately jump to getting married.

Which doesn't make things any less confusing for everyone else.

They still tend to eschew any sort of Official Labels for what they have, but they do become a little more open about the fact that they do have Something. Which certainly isn't a surprise to anyone, but the strength and depth of it is a surprise to people who have less contact with them.

Yusuf is an excellent poker player and teaches Ariadne how to play. They're an absolute menace of a duo to play against

Arthur and Saito like to go to art museums together. This is somehow a competitive sport between them. No one understands how or why and it's extremely stressful for anyone else who goes with them. They have a blast.

Eames and Yusuf have the strongest "yes and..." vibes together, much to everyone else's (especially Dom's) chagrin. Ariadne quickly gets roped into this as well.

Eames and Ariadne trade dad jokes and bad puns back and forth endlessly.
