Ahead of a one-off Test vs. Australia in Mumbai Harmanpreet Kaur focused on ‘recovery''
The captain of the Indian women cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur, is focused on recovery ahead of their one-off Test match against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 21.
Tumblr media
Speaking ahead of their match, Harmanpreet said recovery is the most important thing when playing back-to-back Test matches. India recently defeated England by 347 runs in Mumbai in a one-off Test match, the highest-ever victory margin in women’s Test cricket. Harmanpreet said, “When you are playing back-to-back Test games, the most important thing for you is recovery.
If I talk about Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar, these players did not get any. We tried to take care of their loads and train them as per what was necessary for their game. And for those who did not have a heavy workload, we tried to push them into the nets. To make them feel more confident.”
She further added that “our approach for this game would be the same as our last match: to go for the win. To continue that approach, if you are batting, it does not mean that you are just staying there. At the same time, you have to get those crucial runs for the team as well. Once you start attacking the bowler in a test, and if your defense is solid, you can play a good mind game with them.”

babel, and why i love it (SPOILERS!!!!)
ok im terribly late to reading it, for its not sold in many places where i live, so i found the pdf luckily.
babel is a book about colonialism and racism and oppression, it is about revolution and battling your inner conscience (in my opinion at least, i'll elaborate later). it tells the story of robin swift coming to the prestigious royal institute of translation or better known as babel, where during his yrs there he discovers that the glamourous oxford university isnt such a righteous place. his loyalty is tested, blood is shed and tears fall which leads up to a revolution to stop an incoming war.
there are many reviews regarding how its racist to white ppl (which is astounding to even think about) and that its not accurate as women werent allowed to go to university in the 1830s but im not going to talk about that, that much. i wanted to speak on the actual translation/language aspect of it.
throughout the book, translation and language r some of the main themes (obviously) but the impact it has on the people, both in the book and irl is smth i havent seen anyone mention. language isnt just a form of communication but it is part of our culture, it is part of our identity, and during colonial times many languages suffered, they were being erased as they were "barbaric" or "strange" they were banned and anyone who spoke them was punished like in victoires chapter. robin, ramy and victoire all can barely speak their native languages, robin has almost fogotten cantonese, ramy has very basic knowledge of bengali and victoire is never given a chance or is permitted to speak in haitian creole. they lost one of the main things that connects them to their motherland, they only have their appearance left. they will never be able to talk to their ppl properly.
victoire was frustrated that haitian creole isnt recognised as a proper language like how in their exams, her match-pair wouldnt be counted properly as haitian creole wouldnt be used much hence its "useless" in the eyes of prof. leblanc. she was beaten when she would speak haitian croele in her house in france. when she first came to babel she was correcting herself from "kreyol" to "haitian creole" and was unsure if she could even study it.
robin realised that prof.lovell actually knew more than him about his own language, his mother tongue. he could barely stand being back in canton and he felt isolated in a way as everything changed and was new and so was the language even though he was born hearing and speaking it.
not much is talked about this with ramy except that he barely knows bengali, even though hes fluent in english, latin, greek, arabic, persian and urdu. he knows 6 languages and in his chapter he is sed to "absorb languages like a sponge" and that he recited poems or writing in other languages he didnt know perfectly, even down to tone, only after having it read to him once but he barely knows his mother tongue.
this relates to modern times as many languages of previously colonised countries rely on english words like in india u will barely hear the word pathshala, instead u will hear school. in mauritian creole when people speak they will slip in english words, like "netwai whiteboard la" which means clean the whiteboard.
we dont know our language fully because of the erasure of them.
theres also 1st gen immigrant children where their mother tongue is smth they barely hear or they forgot after a while, they feel so incredibly disconnected once they realise. this is how robin is and this is how i am too, i was born in europe, then at 7 i moved to england and now im somewhere entirely different, i dont remember my mother tongue, i dont dream in it. which ultimately makes u lose ur voice in a metaphorical way.
u cant speak because u dont know how.
another important thing is the purposeful mistranslations and burning of books, thats not fully discussed in the book although it would have been a nice touch. colonisers purposefully mistranslated things to control the masses because when they burnt our books, they burnt our language, knowledge and people. and the exploitation of our languages like the statue at univ of william jones sitting at desk and 3 hindu sages on the floor infront of him exists, and how missionaries were taught our languages to help in conversion.
now onto the 1830s inaccuracies and racism:
its the fucking 1830s do u think white ppl were nice to poc at this time, like slavery just ended in the eyes of the law for britain but still continued in other places like america. reverse racism doesnt exist, white ppl can be prejudiced against but u lot r not oppressed and never will be, u lot wont be killed for being white, so stop crying. and about the women wouldnt be at university in the 1830s thing its fiction, r.f. kuang took some liberties.
and that is all i have to say, dont start an argument, anyways babel is great, go read it!!

Organize Your Life With Astrology 🗂️
Tumblr media
Most of the knowledge that we can accessibly find online on Astrology is usually related to self knowledge or self development, but not necessarily the ways that we can apply cosmic knowledge to benefit our day to day.
There’s a series of tips I’m actively working on, and results I’m looking forward to sharing soon that have me all giddy and excited. Now, today in particular it will be about a topic that is far from new, yet shouldn’t be overlooked when learning Vedic Astrology. To me this is Panchang, specifically, the Nakshatra of where the Moon is located in on a daily basis.
Just with these two concepts, you'll be able to completely change your everyday life from stagnant to fluid, but first, let me briefly explain these terms below 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
Tumblr media
Panchang is the astrological daily calendar based on the Indian calendar. It is one of the most popular reference for astrologers and people of the Hindu community who rely on a day's planetary position to determine auspicious timing, festivals, etc. Nakshatras on the other hand, are the 27 lunar mansions or sectors along the ecliptic which delivers us unique and specific lessons through the stories of its ruling deities.
In general, Panchang and nakshatrashas have a lot of information that requires a certain comprehension of India's culture and religion, so I do not advise blindly jumping into making any assumptions without informing yourself properly.
In order to start applying Vedic astrology in an efficient yet respectful manner start by paying attention to the daily nakshatra, learning a bit about its general information, and noting down the situations that occur in your daily life that aligns with the themes of said lunar mansion.
For example:
Between July 9th-10th I was feeling a strong urge of unwinding and relaxing in a spa, but wasn't sure about what day would be best for it. I immediately looked up the Moon's nakshatra and saw that it was in Leo, specifically in Purva Phalguni nakshatra which is ruled by Venus. The themes of this lunar mansion are all about marriage, relaxation, luxury, resting, music, relationships, art, celebrities, etc.
Once I saw the favorable activities of this nakshatra and noticed how it aligned perfectly with what I already wanted to do, I said "f*ck it" and chose a random Spa that I felt called to. Mind you, this decision making occurred quickly, and once I got the place I had the best experience ever! 10/10 all across the board. The staff, design, amenities, treatments, building, and even other clients doing some procedures like me were amazing. It was exactly what I needed.
Even the aesthetic of the entire spa matched perfectly the Leo and Venus energy the day was exuding. Take a look for yourself and make your own judgement 🤭✨ Royal blues, women sculptures, beautiful architecture and interior design. Even the sunlight entering fully through the entire space screams Leo ♌️🔥 with a Venus twist.
Tumblr media
Now, think of all the moments where you’ve had to doubt yourself from what to do or how to arrange your week/month/year as best as possible. Well, staying in tune with the Moon's nakshatras (and Tithi's but that will be a topic for another entry) will prove to be a huge game changer in your life.
In Vedic Astrology, the Moon is one the (if not the most) important planetary influence when it comes to our mind and bodies. We can see immediate results within our near environment and ourselves (when aspecting your inner planets). So, once you're able to apply through actions everything you've learned and observed about nakshatras, your life will start aligning with the best possible results. You’re no longer unaware of how to make your everyday experience positive, no matter how big or small.
Hope this information becomes useful for those who aren't familiarized with it, eager to continue learning, but not sure how to apply it in practical terms. Remember to always stay curious! Experiment, test, and repeat until you feel confident on how to navigate your life while using any tool.
¡IMPORTANT!
I’m currently working towards paying off (3k left) my recent M.A degree in Psychology, so I will be open for all type of readings until I can meet that goal. Accomplishing this would be a huge milestone for me, and I truly appreciate in advance anyone that's interested in booking readings or showing support. Click here for more information about my services!
Also, if you'd like an artistic and personalized (to match your chart’s energy) Panchang calendar that has the Tithi's, daily nakshatras, favorable or unfavorable activities, and any other specific insights that could help you organize your days/weeks/months better all in one aesthetically pleasing way, DM me! 🌹✨

Foxtrot Alpha Alpha - Chapter 30
Tumblr media
Pairing: Hangman x Female OC
Word Count: 1559
Warnings: Talk of death
Summary: Hangman learned his lesson a long time ago to never show his true feelings when someone's words or actions hurt him. To do so showed weakness that could be exploited, and Seresin men couldn't show weakness. Of course, there was an exception to every rule, and Jake's always came in the form of women, three in particular: his mom, Juliette Kazansky, and the girl whose name he could no longer bring himself to speak. She was the girl that got away; she was his biggest 'what if' and his biggest regret; she would forever be the ghost that haunted his dreams. Jake believed that's where she'd stay, for he would surely never see her again after what he did.
Or so he thought.
Notes: This is the sequel to India Lima Yankee; I'm using the same callsign for the Female OC as in Ghost Story because I just really like it, but they are different characters; chapters in italics are flashbacks.
Chapter Songs: Different For Girls Red
****
Ghost
The door flung open, and Juliette Kazansky said in relief, "Oh, thank God you're here."
Ghost raised an eyebrow as her friend practically dragged her inside. "What's wrong?"
"My husband is about to drive me insane-"
"Because someone needs to go to the doctor but won't!" Rooster shouted from another room, his tone more snappish than Ghost had ever heard directed at Juliette.
Jules stared up at the ceiling in exasperation, as if she could see through the plaster and wood all the way up to God. "The Lord is testing me today."
"I heard you had a bad night," Ghost said casually, kneeling down to pet the dogs, who had already flopped onto their backs for belly rubs.
"That's putting it mildly. The lack of sleep is making both of us a little testy." Juliette rubbed her temple and rested a hand on her belly. "The babies are having a wrestling match right now, too, naturally only when the nausea's finally abated, so now, I can't sleep because of that."
"Are you sure you want me over right now?" Ghost inquired, standing up and looking her friend up and down, concerned about Juliette's paleness. "Because I mean this in the nicest way possible, but you look awful."
Tumblr media
Jules snorted. "Thanks. But yeah, I'm fine. Just running on no sleep. Enough about me, though. Firstly-" she stepped forward and embraced Ghost in a hug so tight, the aviator could barely breathe- "I'm so sorry about your dad. Whatever you need, I'm here for you."
It dawned on Ghost that Jules had recently lost her own dad, less than a year ago, so the feelings were still relatively fresh for her too. She would understand more than anyone. "Thank you. Right now, I think I just need to be around friends. I can feel myself moving towards isolation, and I can't do that."
"If you need to be alone, that's okay. As long as you know you have people waiting for you when you're ready to come back."
Ghost smiled gratefully at her friend. "I appreciate it."
"So, do you want to talk about it or no?"
"There are multiple things I could talk about. Which one are you referring to?"
"Hangman."
Ghost sighed heavily. "Not much to tell. I was planning on staying at his when we got back, we started drinking, started kissing-"
"You two kissed?!" Juliette exclaimed, eyes lighting up.
"Briefly before I cut it off and laid into him. I tried to get him to finally tell me why he never came to visit me after the accident, why he only tried to talk to me after the trial, but he froze. And then I walked out." Ghost walked into the living room with Juliette on her heels. The girls plopped onto the couch, and the dogs joined them. Lightning practically crawled into Ghost's lap as she asked, "What did Hangman text you?"
"He just said: I fucked up. Ghost needs you. I tried to get him to elaborate, but he wouldn't respond. The only other response I got from him was when I asked if he was okay, to which he replied,' I'm fine,' the universal sign that someone is the opposite of fine."
"Thank you for having Coyote check on him. I should've done that first thing, but I was selfish and-"
"Hurting," Juliette added gently. "You've been through a lot lately, Ghost."
"So has he, but he still sent you to check on me. I waited twelve hours before it even dawned on me. I don't even understand why it bothers me so much that I didn't do that for him, but I am, and-"
"Because you love him," Juliette said simply. "Believe me, I understand that infuriating conundrum."
"God, it makes me want to rip my hair out."
"What do you say we sit back, ignore our problems, I have Rooster bring you wine and me some apple juice so I can at least have the air that I'm drinking an adult drink, we put on The Proposal, and both forget about our current problems? We can deal with them later."
Ghost wholeheartedly agreed to the plan. Juliette shouted for Rooster, who shuffled tiredly into the room. He smiled at Ghost, but it didn't reach across his face like it normally did. She'd have to corner him about that later, although she suspected it had to do with Juliette's health. Ghost would keep her own concerns to herself for now, but her friend's wan pallor worried her, too.
Juliette politely requested the girls' drinks and added gently, "And then get some sleep; Ghost is here to watch me, okay?"
Rooster obeyed, grabbing their beverages from the kitchen and handing them to the girls. He kissed Juliette on top of the head before padding to their bedroom.
"He would not have done that without argument had it been anyone but you," Jules said quietly once she assured herself her fiancé was out of earshot.
"Oh, I'm sure if it were Maverick, Penny, or Phoenix, he would've."
"Yeah, because he's slightly scared of Phoenix, although he'd never admit it, and Penny and Maverick are adults in his eyes."
"But he's an adult?"
"They're adultier adults."
Tumblr media
Ghost laughed but said nothing else, settling into the cushions and proud of the fact Rooster trusted her with his future wife so implicitly when he hardly trusted the qualified professionals.
Watching the movie turned out to be just the distraction Ghost needed, and when the girls hit 'play' on another one, she and Juliette fell into such deep sleeps that they had to be roused by Rooster for dinner. Neither had heard him enter the kitchen, clang pots and pans around (which he claimed was accidental), or when the timer went off on the oven. He'd made a delicious chicken dish, prompting Ghost to ask, "When did you learn how to cook?"
"I started taking some classes, but if that-" Rooster motioned at the three of them with his fork- "ever leaves this table-"
"Your dirty little secret is safe with us," Ghost promised, "especially since those classes seem to be paying off. This is delicious."
Rooster beamed at the compliment, and when their plates were scraped clean, he took them to the sink. The girls chatted while Rooster cleaned the dishes. He jumped into the conversation when he felt the need to put in his two cents.
During that meal, Ghost realized what Godsends the Bradshaws had been, allowing her to hang out with them to distract her from her woes. Between finding out Maverick might be her dad and the silence from Hangman when she asked him the question that had eaten away at her for years, Ghost considered the success of the Bradshaws' distracting abilities no small feat.
Around nine, they migrated to the living room. Juliette gently lowered herself onto the couch, and while she smiled, Ghost could tell her friend was having a bad day with the pregnancy. They talked for a couple more hours, and when Rooster left to use the restroom, Ghost asked, "Do you want me to go? You look like you're struggling right now."
"No, no, I'm fine," Juliette insisted, waving her hand dismissively. "Just a little nausea. Besides, I'm enjoying our conversation."
"Jules-"
A ringing cellphone interrupted the conversation. The girls shared a confused glance, wondering who on earth would be calling that time of night. Juliette grabbed her phone and answered, "Hello?"
A deep man's voice spoke on the other end. Juliette's brow furrowed in confusion when she replied, "Uh, no, this isn't Ghost. May I ask who's calling?"
"What's going on?" Rooster queried upon returning to the room and noticing the girls' expressions. Juliette held up a finger to silence him.
Tumblr media
"Hang on, let me get her for you," Juliette said. She handed the phone to the female aviator, stating, "It's a bartender?"
Ghost frowned. "Hello?"
"Is this Ghost?" The man responded gruffly, sounding slightly exasperated.
"Yes. Who's this?"
"My name's Mickey Whitley; I'm a bartender at The Riptide. I have a customer here, a Jake Seresin, who needs a ride home because he's smashed and- no, you're not playing darts! You can't even stand!" The man exclaimed suddenly. He groaned and returned to the conversation. "Sorry, your friend wants to play darts, and if he throws one, it's more likely to turn into a freestyle acupuncture session than a darts game. Can you come get him? I can help get him to your car, but I'm cutting him off because he's gonna kill himself if he drinks anymore."
"Yeah, yeah, I'll head over now," Ghost said, standing up and hurrying to the front door. Rooster and Juliette followed. "I'll be there in ten."
Hanging up the phone, she returned it to Juliette and explained the situation, adding, "Rooster, I hate to ask this of you, but could you help me pick him up? If Hangman's as drunk as the guy said he is, I won't be able to get him home, let alone keep him stable on my bike."
"Of course," Rooster said, reaching for his keys. Juliette swiped them before he could. "What are you-"
"Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I'm useless. I'm coming with you to help. He gave the bartender my number after all," Juliette argued. "Come on. I'm driving."

BREAKING: TWO “Female Boxers” Set To Compete At Paris 2024 Were Previously Disqualified From Women’s World Championship For Having “XY Chromosomes”
By
Anna Slatz
July 27, 2024
Two athletes competing at the Paris Olympics as “women” were previously disqualified from a women’s world championship for having “XY chromosomes.” Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-Ting of Taiwan are scheduled to compete in Olympic women’s boxing next week despite past questions surrounding their biological sex.
The Women’s World Boxing Championships took place in March of 2023 and was hosted in New Delhi, India. A total of 324 boxers from 64 nations competed during the 10-day trial, marking the largest participation in any iteration of the championship ever recorded.
However, the grand event was marred by controversy after Umar Kremlev, president of the International Boxing Association (IBA), announced the disqualification of multiple boxers from the championship.
Kremlev said that IBA executives had met towards the championship’s grand finale to discuss “fairness among athletes and professionalism,” after concerns were raised about the biological sex of some participants. He added that after “a series of DNA-tests,” the IBA “uncovered athletes who were trying to fool their colleagues and pretend to be women.”
Speaking to TASS News, Kremlev claimed that the tests had proven the athletes in question “had XY chromosomes and were thus excluded from the sports events.”
Among the disqualified was Imane Khelif, an Algerian boxer who had been set to challenge Yang Liu of China in the welterweight final. Khelif was removed from the gold medal fight, and Thailand’s Janjaem Suwannapheng, who had lost to Khelif in the semi-finals, was allowed to proceed to fight Yang instead.
In a public statement, the IBA wrote that “a boxer from Algeria, Imane Khelif, was excluded from the IBA World Boxing Championships due to the failure to meet the IBA eligibility criteria.” But the Algerian Olympic Committee denied the IBA’s claims, attributing Khelif’s disqualification to a “conspiracy” to prevent Algeria from having a gold medal in boxing.
While they vaguely alluded to Khelif being struck for “medical reasons” surrounding high testosterone levels, they added that they would be supporting Khelif’s journey to the 2024 Paris Olympics regardless.
But following the controversial disqualification, a female boxer came forward to discuss her experience fighting Khelif in the ring at the championship.
“When I fought with her I felt very out of my depth,” Mexican boxer Brianda Tamara wrote on X. “Her blows hurt me a lot, I don’t think I had ever felt like that in my 13 years as a boxer, nor in my sparring with men. Thank God that day I got out of the ring safely, and it’s good that they finally realized,” Tamara said.
A second boxer was similarly disqualified by the IBA at the event, Taiwan’s Lin Yu-Ting, who was also stripped of a bronze medal.
Lin had previously won 5 gold medals in women’s boxing tournaments.
Tumblr media
Lin Yu-Ting winning gold and a $100,000 prize at a 2022 women’s boxing championship.
Despite having faced the disqualification just last year, both boxers will be competing in Paris as female boxers.
Khelif is scheduled to fight Italy’s Angela Carini on August 1, while Lin Yu-Ting is set to be matched the next day.
While neither have stated they identify as transgender, it is suspected that both are impacted by a Difference of Sexual Development (DSD), a category of medical conditions encompassing any problem noted at birth where the genitalia are atypical in relation to the chromosomes or gonads.
DSDs in elite sports first came to public attention during the meteoric rise of South African runner Caster Semenya. Semenya’s rapid improvements in performance beginning in 2009 initially triggered suspicions of drug use, and World Athletics (then called the IAAF) was internationally denounced for requesting Semenya take a test to ascertain his biological sex.
Most women, including elite female athletes, have natural testosterone levels of 0.12 to 1.79 nanomoles per liter (nmol/L), but Semenya has XY chromosomes and male gonads producing a normal level of testosterone for a male. In 2011, Semenya was measured as having 15.6 and 29.3 nmol/L. Years later, a decision in the Court of Arbitration for Sport revealed that Semenya has a DSD where the normal male sexual development fails in utero, resulting in external genitals that appear to be a vagina at birth, but was in fact an underdeveloped penis.
Speaking to Reduxx, a representative with the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS) condemned the confusion that had emerged surrounding the sex of competitors due to the International Olympic Committee’s 2000 decision to end sex-verification screening.
“The IOC’s decision to end sex-verification screening in 2000 has caused distrust and confusion in women’s sports ever since,” ICONS co-founder Marshi Smith said. “Its 2021 decision to offload the responsibility for international eligibility criteria to individual sporting bodies has resulted in varied standards and widespread chaos among athletes, coaches, officials, and the public.”
Smith notes that a new boxing qualification system was implemented for the 2024 Olympics in which an ad-hoc unit was created by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board to organize the boxing competitions for Paris 2024.
This new unit was set up after the International Boxing Association (IBA), which had previously disqualified Khelif and Lin from women’s championships, was suspended by the IOC due to concerns it was receiving funding from Russia.
In the FAQ for the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit, no gender eligibility guidelines are specified, something Smith suggests likely indicates that individual nations were given a tremendous amount of power to deem their own athletes eligible.
“In boxing, the recent contentious split between the IBA and the IOC has now placed Olympic eligibility power into the hands of national boxing federations, allowing countries like Algeria and Taiwan to set their own standards and continue placing male boxers in the ring with female athletes in combat for women’s Olympic medals,” Smith explains.
“The physical abuse of women on an Olympic stage eliminates the integrity of all Olympic events and risks lifelong injury or even death for female athletes. This deceit cannot be allowed to continue.”

Absence of gender test took away deserved wins from women athletes
Thomas Bach surprised everyone with the statement that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) does not have a scientifically proven method for determining the gender of athletes.
The IOC chief accused the International Boxing Association (IBA) that they have no proof that athletes Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan failed the gender test. Bach told media:
“I looked at the transcript of the press conference of this organisation – it wasn’t even clear there what tests and what results were being talked about. In any case, what was reported there is not consistent with the science.”
Khelif failed to pass the gender test at the IBA World Championships in India a year ago. Also, Taiwan’s Lin Yu-ting failed a similar test at that championship. The IOC subsequently approved both athletes to participate in the Games.
Italy’s Angela Carini refused to continue her fight against Khelif. The fight lasted 46 seconds. During the fight, Carini asked for a stoppage and said she would not continue the fight. She said, refusing to shake hands with her opponent at the end of the match:
“I’m terribly hurt, I don’t want to continue. It’s unfair.”
Tumblr media
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called the fight unequal and called for athletes with male genetic traits not to be allowed to compete in women’s events.
Khelif won Olympic gold in the women’s 66kg. In the final bout of the Olympic tournament, Khelif faced China’s Yang Liu. The Algerian representative was awarded the victory by unanimous decision of the judges.
The IBA conducted a gender text for “Algerian boxer” Imane Khelif in 2022 and the results were in line with males biologically, vice-president and former IBA general secretary Istvan Kovacs noted. Kovacs said in an interview with Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet:
“The problem was not Khelif’s testosterone level, because it can be corrected, but the result of the gender test, which clearly showed that Iman is male from a biological point of view.”
Kovacs also added that the IBA conducted tests for four other boxers who gave the same result. This information was sent to the IOC, but they did not react in any way.
Last week, IOC chief Thomas Bach said he would not be re-elected in 2025. He said:
“As a result of deep reflection and extensive discussions, including with my family here in the room, I have come to the conclusion that my mandate should not be extended beyond the term stipulated in the Olympic Charter.”
The IOC postponed a decision on Bach’s term extension in July. At that time, a decision on an amendment to the Olympic Charter to allow the German’s powers to be extended was not accepted by the organisation’s legal affairs commission and was postponed until 2025.
Last October, several IOC members at the organisation’s session in India suggested that Bach should not resign after his second term expires in 2025.
Bach has been a member of the IOC since 1991, he led the organisation in 2013 for eight years and then stayed on for a new four-year term. His term expires in 2025. He is the 1976 Olympic champion in team foil.

The Complexities and Dynamics of Arranged Marriage: A Modern Perspective
Tumblr media
Arranged marriage, a tradition deeply rooted in various cultures around the world, has long been a subject of fascination, curiosity, and sometimes even controversy. While the concept might seem archaic to some, arranged marriages continue to thrive in many societies, albeit often evolving to accommodate modern sensibilities. In this essay, we delve into the complexities and dynamics of arranged marriage, exploring its historical significance, cultural variations, societal impacts, and the evolving attitudes towards this age-old institution.
Understanding Arranged Marriage
Arranged marriage, as the name suggests, is a union orchestrated by families or intermediaries, where the individuals involved often have little to no say in choosing their life partners. Unlike love marriages, where individuals typically meet, court, and decide to marry based on mutual affection, arranged marriages are founded on familial considerations, such as social status, financial stability, cultural compatibility, and familial alliances.
Historical Context
The practice of arranged marriage can be traced back thousands of years, with its origins deeply embedded in cultural, religious, and socioeconomic norms. In many ancient civilizations, marriages were strategic alliances between families, aimed at consolidating power, acquiring wealth, or preserving lineage. The concept endured through the centuries, adapting to changing social structures and norms.
Cultural Variations
Arranged marriage manifests in diverse forms across different cultures, each with its own rituals, traditions, and expectations. In some societies, such as India, Japan, and parts of the Middle East, arranged marriages are still prevalent, with families playing a central role in matchmaking. Conversely, in Western cultures, where individual autonomy is highly valued, arranged marriages are less common, though they do exist within certain immigrant communities.
The Role of Family and Community
Central to the institution of arranged marriage is the involvement of families and sometimes entire communities in the matchmaking process. Parents, relatives, and trusted intermediaries often take on the responsibility of finding suitable matches based on criteria deemed important for marital success. This involvement underscores the collective nature of marriage, where familial interests often supersede individual desires.
Navigating Tradition and Modernity
In recent decades, the dynamics of arranged marriage have undergone significant transformations, influenced by globalization, urbanization, and changing societal norms. While traditional arranged marriages were strictly arranged by parents without the consent of the individuals involved, contemporary arrangements often involve greater agency for the prospective partners. Many modern arranged marriages incorporate elements of compatibility testing, courtship, and mutual consent, blurring the lines between arranged and love marriages.
Challenges and Controversies
Despite its prevalence and adaptation to modernity, arranged marriage is not without its challenges and controversies. Critics argue that the practice can perpetuate gender inequality, restrict individual freedom, and lead to marital dissatisfaction and even abuse. Additionally, the pressure to conform to familial expectations and cultural norms can create immense stress for those involved, particularly for individuals who do not wish to participate in arranged marriages.
Gender Dynamics
Gender dynamics play a significant role in arranged marriages, with traditional notions of masculinity and femininity often shaping marital expectations and responsibilities. In many cultures, women are expected to prioritize familial harmony and obedience over personal autonomy, while men are tasked with providing for and protecting their families. These gendered expectations can influence the power dynamics within arranged marriages and contribute to inequalities.
Shifting Perspectives
Despite its challenges, arranged marriage continues to endure, albeit in evolving forms. In some cases, arranged marriages are celebrated for fostering stability, commitment, and familial bonds. Proponents argue that the involvement of families can provide valuable support and guidance, setting the foundation for successful partnerships. Moreover, arranged marriages are often viewed as a means of preserving cultural traditions and heritage in an increasingly globalized world.
Marriage Arrangement Aamboku
Conclusion
Arranged marriage, with its rich history and cultural significance, remains a complex and multifaceted institution. While traditional practices persist in many parts of the world, arranged marriages are also evolving to accommodate modern sensibilities and individual autonomy. As societies continue to grapple with questions of tradition, modernity, and individual rights, the institution of arranged marriage will likely remain a subject of fascination, debate, and adaptation. Ultimately, whether arranged marriage is perceived as a binding tradition or an outdated practice depends on one's cultural perspective and personal experiences.

can I request a post about why cricket is interesting?
It is a very strategic game, there's something very enjoyable to me about how quickly the tide changes due to outside reasons – a little rain, an overcast day, too blustery or too humid and the dynamics of the game change.
It is a game of risk management at both the individual and team level. One of the few team sports where coaches are pretty unimportant, captains make both rapid strategic calls and contribute 'physically' in the game. I'm not too fond of sports where the brain and the brawn are artificially deemed separate, like in football, where the tactical genius is ascribed to this ascetic figure of the manager and the player is the spoiled gifted athlete.
Bowlers and Batters have a face off for 6 balls (1 over) trying to play chicken and read each other's minds and intimidate. The margins, like all elite sport are extremely marginal, a few mm is the difference between a great shot and a terrible one that flies off to the fielder. It's also incredibly thrilling, as a team sport it offers the joys of camaraderie, but the unique nature of individual matchups also foregrounds star players.
Cricket (sort of like timed vs untimed chess?) is basically 3 kinds of games wrapped into one. Limited overs cricket, aka one day games (50 overs) and twenty20 (20 overs) are TV friendly, often very thrilling to watch with pretty much non stop action. They're pretty recent innovations to the game (2008 saw the first T20 match.) Test cricket is played over 5 days and is more about endurance and maintaining consistency. Its the one played with red balls in white clothes.
When it's lopsided cricket can be incredibly boring. It's a sport that was long dominated by amateurs and the "international" game, with professional clubs coming in pretty late to the game. It was protected partly due it's english perception as a gentleman's game. It's got very elitist hangups as a result, which is really bizarre in a game that is most popular in the Indian subcontinent. Honestly, cricket is inescapable in India. It's the background noise of my life. I've sort of known how it works forever, so I don't have any other advice for anyone who finds the rules complicated apart from keep watching.
I've been watching the T20 Women's Cricket World Cup and it's had two amazing nailbiting thrillers in the semi finals. Australia are pretty dominant, but South Africa will look to challenge them with some home crowd support in the finals on Sunday!

Stem Cell Transplant
Stem cell transplantation is a treatment choice for individuals with multiple myeloma. There are three general kinds of transplantation  :-
● Autologous transplantation - The Stem cells are gotten  from your own blood or bone marrow. This is the kind of transplantation that is generally ordinarily suggested for treating multiple myeloma.
● Allogeneic transplantation - The Stem cells or bone marrow are gotten from a donor  with a tissue type matching yours. This kind of transplantation conveys exceptionally high risk and isn't suggested for the vast majority with numerous myeloma.
● Syngeneic transplantation - The stem cells or bone marrow are obtained from an identical twin. This is the ideal type of transplantation, albeit barely any individuals with different myeloma have an indistinguishable twin who can act as a donor.
Transplantation, when effective, prompts a reduction and drags out endurance; seldom, allogeneic transplantation fixes different myeloma. Notwithstanding, transplantation has a few limits. The high-portion chemotherapy given before transplantation generally neglects to kill all of the plasma cells, permitting the condition to backslide after transplantation. Such treatment likewise expands your gamble of serious contaminations and dying, which can be deadly.
Autologous foundational microorganism transplantation — Autologous stem cell organism transplantation alludes to transplantation with your own undeveloped cells. During this system, stem organisms are gathered and frozen for sometimes in the future. High-portion chemotherapy is then given to kill however many plasma cells as could be expected under the circumstances, and the stem organisms are defrosted and gotten back to your body. Foundational microorganisms can be acquired from the blood or the bone marrow; for this situation, getting them from the blood is liked, on the grounds that blood undeveloped cells move to tissues all the more rapidly and are less inclined to be tainted with malignant plasma cells.
As of now, autologous stem cell transplantation is appropriate for up to 50 percent of individuals with multiple myeloma. Autologous undeveloped cell transplantation isn't suggested for individuals with seething multiple myeloma (individuals with multiple myeloma who have no side effects).

The Beauty and Tradition of Mango Stud in Gold: A Timeless Jewelry Choice
Jewelry has always been an integral part of culture and tradition, especially in countries like India. Among the various designs that have stood the test of time, the mango stud in gold remains a symbol of tradition, elegance, and beauty. Known for its rich heritage and unique design, the mango stud has become a popular choice for those who wish to wear a piece of jewelry that holds deep cultural significance.
In this blog post, we will explore the origins of the mango stud, its significance, various design options, and why this timeless piece of jewelry continues to captivate the hearts of jewelry enthusiasts.
The Origins and Significance of Mango Stud in Gold
The mango stud in gold is inspired by the shape of the mango fruit, which has been revered in Indian culture for centuries. In Hindu tradition, the mango is considered a sacred fruit, symbolizing fertility, prosperity, and abundance. Mango motifs have been used in various forms of art, including architecture, textiles, and of course, jewelry. The mango shape is often associated with divine blessings and is a prominent motif in South Indian temple jewelry.
Wearing mango-inspired jewelry, particularly the mango gold stud, is seen as a way to invoke positive energy and ward off negativity. These studs are not only a fashionable accessory but also hold spiritual significance, making them a popular choice for weddings, festivals, and other auspicious occasions.
Why Mango Studs in Gold Are So Popular
There are several reasons why mango studs in gold have become a favorite among jewelry lovers:
1. Cultural Significance
As mentioned earlier, the mango shape is deeply rooted in Indian culture and is believed to bring good luck and prosperity. Wearing mango gold studs is a way of embracing tradition while adding a touch of modernity to your style. The combination of gold and the mango motif gives the jewelry a unique appeal, making it suitable for both everyday wear and special occasions.
2. Timeless Appeal
Gold has always been a symbol of wealth, luxury, and prestige. When crafted into intricate designs like the mango stud, it becomes a timeless piece that never goes out of style. Gold mango studs have been worn for generations and continue to be a popular choice because of their versatility and elegance.
3. Versatile Design
One of the key reasons behind the popularity of mango gold studs is their versatility. These studs come in a variety of designs, ranging from simple and minimalistic to elaborate and ornate. Whether you prefer a subtle look or a statement piece, there is a mango stud design to suit every taste. The mango stud in gold can be paired with both traditional attire like sarees and lehengas, as well as modern outfits, making it a versatile accessory.
4. Perfect for All Ages
The charm of mango gold studs is that they appeal to all age groups. Younger women may appreciate the simplicity and elegance of smaller mango studs, while older women may prefer larger, more intricate designs. No matter your age, mango studs in gold can elevate your look and add a touch of sophistication to your style.
Different Designs of Mango Gold Studs
Gold mango studs come in a wide array of designs, allowing you to choose one that matches your personal style and preferences. Here are some popular styles of mango gold studs:
1. Traditional Mango Studs
Traditional mango studs are often inspired by South Indian temple jewelry and feature intricate designs with detailed carvings. These studs may include additional motifs like peacocks, flowers, or leaves, enhancing their visual appeal. They are typically larger in size and make a bold statement, making them perfect for weddings or cultural events.
2. Contemporary Mango Studs
For those who prefer a more modern look, contemporary mango gold studs offer a sleeker, minimalist design. These studs may feature a simple mango shape with smooth edges and clean lines, making them ideal for everyday wear. The beauty of contemporary mango studs lies in their simplicity, allowing them to be worn with a variety of outfits.
3. Gemstone-Studded Mango Studs
For a touch of color and added elegance, many mango studs in gold are adorned with gemstones. Popular choices include rubies, emeralds, and diamonds, which are carefully set within the mango design. These gemstone-studded mango gold studs add a hint of sparkle and are perfect for festive occasions or evening events.
4. Customized Mango Studs
Customization has become a popular trend in jewelry, allowing you to create a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your personal style. With mango gold studs, customization options may include selecting the type of gold (yellow, white, or rose), choosing specific gemstones, or adding engravings to the design. Customized mango studs make for a meaningful gift or a unique addition to your own jewelry collection.
Caring for Your Mango Gold Studs
To keep your mango gold studs looking beautiful for years to come, it’s important to take proper care of them. Here are some tips for maintaining their shine and durability:
1. Regular Cleaning
Gold jewelry can accumulate dirt and oils from daily wear, which can dull its shine. To clean your mango gold studs, use a mild soap solution and a soft brush to gently scrub away any dirt. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft cloth.
2. Safe Storage
When not in use, store your mango studs in a separate jewelry pouch or box to prevent them from getting scratched or damaged by other pieces. Keeping them in a dry, cool place will also help preserve their luster.
3. Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Avoid exposing your mango gold studs to harsh chemicals such as perfumes, lotions, or cleaning agents, as these can tarnish the gold over time. Always remove your jewelry before applying any beauty products.
4. Professional Maintenance
If your mango gold studs have intricate designs or are set with gemstones, consider taking them to a professional jeweler for periodic maintenance. They can help clean, polish, and inspect the studs for any signs of wear or damage.
Where to Buy Mango Studs in Gold
When looking to purchase mango gold studs, it’s essential to choose a reputable jeweler to ensure the authenticity and quality of the gold. Here are a few tips:
Check for Certification: Always make sure the gold is certified for its purity (karat) by a trusted authority such as the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
Compare Designs: Browse through various designs and styles to find a pair of mango studs that suits your taste and budget. Many jewelers offer both in-store and online shopping options.
Consider Customization: If you want a truly unique piece, inquire about customization options. This allows you to create a pair of mango studs that are personalized to your preferences.
Conclusion
The mango stud in gold is a piece of jewelry that blends tradition, elegance, and versatility. Whether you're attending a cultural event, a festive celebration, or simply looking for an elegant accessory for everyday wear, mango gold studs are a timeless choice. With a variety of designs to choose from, including traditional, contemporary, and gemstone-studded options, there’s a mango stud to suit every taste.
By investing in a pair of mango gold studs, you not only acquire a beautiful piece of jewelry but also embrace the cultural significance and heritage associated with the mango motif. So, whether you’re adding to your own jewelry collection or looking for a meaningful gift, mango studs in gold are sure to impress and captivate for generations to come.
