Something I think is really interesting about Lestat's reasons for turning Louis in the books is how it sets up the primary point of conflict between them even before they've actually met. He tells us more than once that his initial attraction to Louis was his similarity to Nicolas, most importantly his ability to act as both a punishment and a conscience for Lestat, but this isn't really where the pattern starts.
Darkness is familiar to Lestat, something that's plagued all the formative people in his life and defined how they relate to him. Of course the Marquis and Armand have a great deal of violence in them, but so did Nicki and so did Gabrielle. By the time he comes to New Orleans, he's craving love, familiarity, and belonging. All of those things, to him, are synonymous with darkness. He looks at Louis and he sees the Marquis' anger, Gabrielle's coldness, Nicki's despair, Armand's hysteria, and all of it feels like home in a fucked up way.
By the time he turns Louis, the cycles Lestat is stuck in have driven him half insane and his reactions to his new companion show how unsustainable it's all become. Once the darkness he saw in Louis is directed at him (like he supposedly wanted), it makes him painfully, maddeningly aware of how different he himself is from the boy he once was. He's not a shining beacon of light in the same way he used to be or the kind of person who can rise above the darkness again and again, but he doesn't know any other way to live.
He claims that he understands and accepts his own evil, but his attempts to show the audience just how good he is at being bad seem rather pathetic and insincere, desperate almost. I think the whole idea of finding an "externalized conscience" to punish him for his sins is very Lestat, but it also drives an immediate rift between them. Louis being what Lestat thinks he wants and wants to want completely prevents him from being what Lestat actually needs, things that defy Louis' fundamental nature.
Lestat simply wants things that are incompatible with goodness by the time of IWTV, meaning that he's incompatible with the version of Louis that he brought into his life in spite of what he says in TVL about conscience and punishment. He makes Louis to “fix him”, but then hates Louis for doing the thing he was made to do because of how his sense of self has disintegrated. It's as if Lestat's body and mind are finally rebelling against the cycle of trauma that he seems to be unable to let go of. Half of him wants to be kept accountable so he can hold onto the past version of himself, but the stronger half is the one that has come to crave intimacy and understanding of what he currently is to such a degree that it seems to hijack that desire for punishment.
This is one of the ways that I think Louis IS a victim in the story. He's not the first or the last person to be chosen by someone who fetishizes darkness (mental illness, grief, violence, inner turmoil, whatever it may be) for one reason or another and then gets in over their head, turning on them for falling short as a partner because of it. Louis is acutely aware of this and mentions frequently that Lestat made a poor choice of companion, but at that point they're stuck and creating brand new cycles unique to them as Lestat fights his own. Lestat wants Louis to turn back the clock, to restore his humanity, but that's just not possible, and it dooms them in the first part of their story.

*cracks knuckles* we know Tyler isn’t the original Clancy right? Y’all caught that? Clancy’s bishop was Keons, Tyler’s is Nico, and now “Clancy” is Tyler. Because “scaled and icy” is an anagram for “Clancy is dead” and that album was the one where dema was using Tyler’s popularity for their own purposes. Clancy failed to stop the cycle on his own, and despite already being used as a figurehead for dema, Tyler decided to take up the role of “Clancy” in the wake of what seemed like a total collapse of the Banditos. Their leader had been taken out, and now they had no one to organize them.
But Tyler taking on the name Clancy isn’t him taking on the role of leader or even organizer. He is showing us (the Banditos) that we all can be our own inspiration, we don’t need a figure to follow, we don’t need a leader to lead us. We can do this, fight dema, ourselves.
Y’all got that, right?

a vampire ed that is informed by the complex conception of who is allowed to be a person, question mark, is what happened to ldpdl. particularly in the context of the jim crow era racial segregation. and it can be inferred that he subsequently tries to eliminate his part in potentially contributing to any interpersonal violence that may call into question a person’s right to complete personhood by cultivating a predominantly animal diet

Buck and Tommy just got together and there are already hundreds and hundreds of posts in the 911 tags talking about how Buck and Tommy's "break up" will happen.
And it's fine, people are allowed to share their theories, I share mine as well, but I can't help but wonder what's the angle here?
From what I've seen, most people are sure Buck and Tommy are temporary because they're sure "Buddie is Endgame"? But how would they know?
As far as we know Buck and Eddie are best friends and there hasn't been any indication that the writers are planning for them to have à romantic relation in season 7. Reading interviews with shipping goggles on isn't canon, it's fan theory.
If they had planned it, they would have put some "seeds", some small hints here and there when Buck and Tommy got together, showing that Buck and Eddie's relationship is not meant to be seen platonic, like Buck being unsure about Tommy or Eddie being supportive but a little jealous.
But they haven't, all we've seen right now is Buck being head over heels for Tommy, telling his sister what he likes about him and telling Eddie how he can't stop thinking about Tommy. Buck has such a massive crush on Tommy he invited him to his sister's wedding.
Buck's coming out scene to Eddie was so beautiful and emotional, but there was no hint of Eddie being jealous or him having romantic feelings for Buck. We even got the sweetest and most platonic hug ever.
Where exactly are we supposed to get the message that Buck is harboring a secret crush for his best friend? Or are we supposed to imagine that he'll magically develop romantic feelings in the middle of the season?
I don't understand where the "Tommy is a placeholder for Eddie" theories are coming from???
Buck hurt Eddie to get Tommy's attention, his words not mine. How are the writers going to go from that and make us believe that he was in reality in love with Eddie? How would that go?
I have nothing against Buddie, I even like the idea of them, but at the end of the day, I believe what I see on screen. Fan theories are just theories.
I'm sorry but to me, Buck is all about Tommy.
As someone who has seen my fair share of TV shows, I'm wondering why anyone would think that that's the direction the screenwriters are going.
