This one is inspired by THE SANDMAN (both the picture and the title).

I am in a big SANDMAN mood these past few days. I am close to finishing the first volume of my copy of the graphic novel and will be getting the second volume soon. Can't wait to continue reading it!

Also, rewatching the first season, too. Having now finished the Doll-House arc, I would like to re-watch the first season with new eyes.

"What?" He managed to get out.

"Hob," Johanna said "Tell me something really fucked up that will make me feel better about my life choices."

Hob thought for long minutes. She'd woken him up at 3am after all.

"Dream said once that if we ever get married, he's basically required to invite Lucifer Morningstar out of social courtesy."

Constantine made a strangled noise.

"Fantastic. Thanks, mate."

"Any time," Hob yawned. "Any time that isn't 3am."

"This is me not RSVPing in advance though, just so you know."

Hob hung up on her.

After the wonderful @cuubism posted some photos of the New Inn (and pointed me in the direction of more) I ended up stumbling upon their instagram page, and they had these wonderful photos of the Inn through the ages! Other cool info:

The pub has existed since 1642 and it was originally called The White Hart! Here’s a transcript of the text on the plaque next to the entrance:

“In 1642 the original Inn was known as The White Hart, but when the present building was erected in 1756, it changed to The New Inn.

From 1780 to his death in 1822, it was called The Hobart Arms after the Hon. George Hobart who lived in Ham Common and was related to the Duke of Buckinghamshire.

It has remained The New Inn ever since, and was renowned as one of the best sites for both travellers and local traffic, always employing at least one ostler.

Today, our fine historical inn offers the warmest traditional hospitality.”

Calliope in Sandman is the Muse of Epic Poetry, right? Not the Muse of Haikus. We mostly see her in captivity but the few times we don't even in the comic I think we've got some evidence that this goddess likes to talk.

So now I'm imagining that Dream of the Endless has an even more specific type than we realized: not just gorgeous brunets with dark eyes (Nada, TV version Calliope & Hob, and Comic Alianora)

No, Dream's type is in fact gorgeous brunets with dark eyes who will also talk at him for hours about their special interest so he doesn't have to. All Dream has to do is sit back, relax, and listen to his love tell him stories all day.

I hope Neilman’s trifecta of slow burn supernatural beings adaptations inspires someone to write a wlw couple in this niche. I do NOT consider the ineffable spouses as fitting into cis gender binaries so I don’t see all of these as “cis male pairings” BUT it would be lovely to get a specifically sapphic take on this as well.

Love the trope. Hope someone gives me some Sapphics with it.

im having a very fun time imagining a fic where dream, rather than being brave and going to visit hob in 2022, chickens out and instead keeps going to visit hob in different forms each time they see each other, and hob cannot for the life of him figure out why he keeps meeting all these hot strangers who want to talk to him
